So Arjuna is one of the Pandavas, the heroes in the Bhagavad Gita. He has been trained since childhood to be the best warrior, archer, horse rider and swordsman. Yet, he comes to a deep crisis where he questions everything he has done in his life and wonders what is the point of all this madness. He cries like a baby and drops his sword and while he is in the dust, lamenting about his faith and feeling pity for himself, Lord Krishna- disguised as his coachman, speakes to him fiercely. He must get up and fight, otherwise the forces of evil will win the kingdom and destroy everything and everyone. Arjuna gets up and fights. And the light once again prevails. This story touches my heart every time: whenever I fell darkness is too much; people too hypocritical; the world too violent; the suffering. too intense, I pray Krishna to uplift me and guide me so I can be of service. It’s easier to search pity from others and stay cowardly victimising ourselves. We have all had tough lives- especially those who are seeking for truth. As I’m sitting waiting for my Guru to reach, i listen to the river, the mighty sweet Ganga that runs close to our Yoga Shala. The river of parampara is there for everyone- we just need enough desire in our heart for the light and we will manifest guidance. Guidance is a must in the spiritual journey: we cannot be safe In the jungle of samsara without it. Today I offer my practice to my son Ariel. May he find the internal wisdom to guide his life in knowledge, compassion and service. May he follow the example of teachers who are connected to the light and not caught up in the illusion of spiritual materialism disguised as yoga practice. Sometimes we need to lose the most precious gift to be able to fully appreciate it. As a practitioner, wish everyone can access the grace of the Guru. The secret of Kapotasana: this is one of the first stops for many in intermediate series of Ashtanga Yoga. The fear of going back into the unknown plus the continuous habit of sitting in chairs plus the weakness of the legs due to sedentary lifestyle makes this posture quite a challenge. In the ashtanga system the key is to work with a teacher who has been her or himself through the fire of tapas. And most of all, the key is to have detachment in your practice. Many obstacles are not physical and can only be destroyed with the power and grace of the Guru.
