On this day, 20 years ago, the RJ episodes, “House Party” and “School Newspaper”, premiered at 11:00pm on the 5th night of the new “Fridays”
Fun Facts:
The newspaper in the title for “School Newspaper” has a headline of a robot invading a school, and said robot is RJ. This is a reference to how creator, Greg Miller, jokingly said that the show would end with RJ taking over “Terminator” style
In the scene in “School Newspaper” where Principal Madman is in the teachers lounge, Mr. Mitchell (Sickness) and Mrs. Kavendash (Scantron Love), make non-speaking cameos
When RJ breaks into the school at night in “School Newspaper”, he references “Dick Tracy”, a detective character from old 1930s comics. He even dawns a stereotypical detective get-up.
In “House Party”, RJ reveals his middle, and full, name. His middle being “Electro”, and his full name being “Robot Electro Jones”

My hyper-specific type when it comes to otome guys:
- Absolutely pathetic - Cannot speak to a girl normally to save his life - Tries to be calm/aloof, but turns tsundere when flustered enough - A good and pure man at heart, yet does some questionable things - ...Little Red Riding Hood???
#heart fragment#taisho x alice#otome#doofenshmirtz voice: if i had a nickel for every time i fell in love with a video game guy heavily associated to little red riding hood...#..i'd have two nickels. which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice!#i made this post basically as a way to announce i played heart fragment recently. and uh. it's REALLY GOOD#i probably do love clive the most (and i was immediately interested/biased considering his similarities to Red) but...#the rest of the cast is great too! I ADORE shannon and i am beyond ready to figure out what jasper's deal is#and honestly i'm into the mystery and the strained family relationship aspects too. just great writing all around even beyond the romances#this is one of Those Games that messes with you and the more you play it the more it sneaks new creepy stuff in#whatever the hell is going on with inigo in the dreams is unsettling. and i love it.#but seriously i'd recommend this to any otome fan and ESPECIALLY taiali fans considering the similarities go far beyond just this#you like fairy tales? you like exploring psychological issues and trauma? this is the game for you#also you can date guys AND girls which is a rare treat! again - i LOVE shannon. i just... love clive even more#but to be fair i think the hangup is that no matter what you're very close and friendly with shannon#so even if you don't romance her you still have a great relationship with her regardless#meanwhile with clive he's starting as a stranger and you basically have to be a jerk to him or blow him off which hurts my heart#and also clive seems to fall kind of fast and hard for you so the relationship developing in a romantic direction just feels. right IMO#i can accept being just besties with shannon (even though I definitely still love her romance outcomes)#but it pains me to spurn clive's affections#on an unrelated note i do intend to post my thoughts (basically a review) of winter's wish: spirits of edo#but i want to finish getting the sorrow endings for CGs and lore which means a second run through several routes

911 handling grief the way they do is something so incredibly personal to me actually, the fact they’re showing eddie and chris years after shannon died, still feeling that loss but being able to look back at her fondly and not being stuck in their grief? learning to grow with it? god i love this show

Noooo!! I have really, really enjoyed detective Armstrong. I don't like this! 😭😭😭
Also, as much as I am already a Tim/Lucy shipper, it is so nice having other love interests for them that aren't just...unlikable and unwatchable, and if they are in the episode a lot it revolves around a case. I really liked Rachel and enjoyed seeing her work, and so far Emmett is sweet (and probably was his stations winner for the firefighter calendar). Not to mention that both of Nolan and Jackson's love interests have been good and enjoyable to watch too, and if anything happens to Angela and Wesley I'm gonna riot. I personally prefer having a single love interest to root for for a character because I hate getting invested in relationships that aren't going to last, and it often feels like the shows can waste the romantic tropes/moments cycling through side relationships and then don't want to "repeat" them again, so the endgame couple gets shafted a little. But so far, while I'm not desperately invested in any of these current couples (except for Angela/Wesley), I have enjoyed the characters, and the way things have been handled.

#why would you say something so controversial and yet so brave#he needs someone who makes him feel ok with doing sex badly!!!#once he realizes he doesn’t have to be perfect and starts having fun he’ll get better!#but until then…#someone save him#911 ABC#mister cow eyes#I guess the question is also what we’re defining as ‘good in bed’#I think he’s good at what he’s expected to be good at#because a good grade in sex is normal to want and possible to achieve#but I don’t think he blows anyone’s mind. least of all his own#my read on his girlfriends (minus Shannon - she’s always the exception) staying with him despite his emotional distance#and Marisol especially centering it on their sex life#is that he is out of this world pretty and charming#he has giant muscles and a cute son he adores and SAVES people#and is very very good at wearing the good boyfriend face#that’s the image he puts out and that’s what they cling to#and when they’re in bed he doesn’t have to worry about keeping up the social part of the image#I don’t think he’s chatty with his partners (at least Ana and Marisol) during sex#and afterwards he can sink into the afterglow#‘see how connected we are?’#without actually revealing much of himself (he thinks)#and Ana and Marisol want to keep the Eddie they’ve all constructed in their heads#and if he seems happiest to be with them when they’re fucking and not talking?#good in bed could be mind blowing orgasms; it could be assuring his partners that he wants them under his skin

“So, I overheard this guy in the line at the coffee shop this morning talking about name meanings—”
“Of course you did,” Eddie interjects, not unkindly.
Buck turned up with beers about a half hour ago, and has had his head in his phone for the last, what, twenty minutes? Something like that.
This is the first thing he's said since Eddie let him in and he sat his ass down on the couch in silence, looking like he needed Eddie to just allow him to.
Eddie did.
“—and I thought I'd look up ours.”
He's chewing on his bottom lip like it tastes good.
Eddie surprises himself by wondering if it does.
“I'm guessing you already know what Christopher means.”
Thinking back to when Shannon asked if he liked the name, Eddie smiles.
“Means 'Bearer of Christ', or something, right? We chose it because was Shannon's grandfather's name, though. He was Greek, and she adored him.”
Searching fingers instinctively find his pendant. It's positioned to the left, sitting right over his heart.
He misses his son like he'd miss a lung.
Buck looks up at him and smiles back, and Eddie feels glad the release he'd found dancing 'round his living room earlier isn't going to suddenly disappear down the bathroom sinkhole, along with his moustache.
“So, tell me, what does Edmundo mean, oh scholarly one?”
Buck's eyebrows try to meet his hairline.
“You don't know?”
Eddie tips his head back against the couch and scrunches his mouth up into nose.
“I have sisters, man, of course I know what it means. But that doesn't mean I don't want you to tell me.”
Buck seems somewhat happy with that.
“Well, it's a derivative of the Old English name Edmund, which is a combination of the words ēad and mund. The first part means prosperity, or riches, which is a bit of a bust, sorry man,” and he tries for a grin. It almost hits.
“But the the mund part means protector—which is pretty spot on, I reckon.”
Buck's eyelashes are kind of blonde, and kind of pretty. Eddie's thought it before, but there's just something about them in this light, in Eddie's house, on Eddie's couch.
“It's actually a real pretty name, Edmundo. Don't know if I've ever told you I think that.”
“Don't think I've ever told you your eyelashes are kind of pretty, so that makes us even, I guess.”
Eddie smiles at Buck, big and genuine, and somehow it's so easy.
Buck smiles back. Looks a little confused, or pleased, or both. Eddie's not sure, but either is okay with him.
“Um, thanks?”
Eddie bites his tongue between his teeth in a poor effort to stop his grin turning positively goofy.
Buck takes it for what it is, and bats his eyelashes at Eddie, silly, and laughs.
His whole demeanor then changes as he finally settles properly into the couch and gifts his lungs with what might be the first proper breath he's taken since he arrived.
“Anyway, Evan is the worst of the three. It means yew, like the tree? Which is—it symbolises, like, spirituality, and rebirth and shit like that. 'S not really, uh, me, you know?”
“You mean like Evan isn't really you?”
Buck bites at his red, red lip again.
Eddie decides it'd taste like cherry Chupa Chups.
“Yeah. But it's—my name.”
“Except it isn't though, it's it?” Eddie reminds him. “You're name is Buck, Buck. You decided that.”
“I don't know why he always insisted on calling me Evan. Or why I just—let him. It was kind of weird.”
Tommy.
"Called? Past tense?” Eddie flips his tongue in his mouth. Breathes a little more deliberately.
Buck looks at his phone again before he's slowly placing it down on the couch between them.
His fingers are touching the outside of Eddie's thigh, and Eddie's suddenly acutely aware that he still isn't wearing any pants.
Buck leaves his hand where it is.
“He, uh, he dumped me. Because I—”
Buck sucks in oxygen, a lot of it, and holds it in his lungs before puffing out his cheeks as he makes a show of blowing it back out again.
“I asked him to move in with me.”
Eddie was not expecting either of those statements.
"Ouch.”
Buck's fingers twitch against Eddie's skin, and Eddie feels it travel right down his leg and into his toes, which curl involuntarily into the carpet.
“You wanna talk about it?” he offers, kind of knowing Buck doesn't. He will when he's ready.
“Not really.”
Eddie licks at his lips. They taste like beer, and a little like confidence.
“How about Buck?”
Buck looks at him, perplexed.
Eddie's leg is starting to cramp a bit.
He doesn't move it.
“A Buck is another name for a stag, right?” he continues. “And the stag symbolises strength and purity—
“Don't forget fertility” Buck is looking at Eddie, and it feels like something.
Eddie snorts. “'Course, don't wanna forget fertility.”
Buck smiles the first proper Buck smile of the evening, and Eddie's feels it in his chest.
“Hey, hang on, how come you know so much about stags, Edmundo?”
“You did that project with Chris about the forest.”
Buck blinks at him.
“Dude that was, like, years ago. And, as you said, I was the one learning all about the woodland creatures and different types berries and toadstools, so how do you—”
“Because you told me,” Eddie shrugs a shoulder.
Buck blinks some more.
“And you—remembered that?” he asks.
In this moment, Eddie couldn't blink, nor look away from Buck, even if somebody were to pay him.
“I remember everything you tell me.”
It's weird but it's like the air itself is crackling as they sit here, just staring at each other.
They look at each other for what feels like a long time. Or maybe it's just a single heartbeat, Eddie can't really be sure.
He watches as Buck swallows, his Adam's apple a calling card.
Eddie isn't entirely sure of why he thinks of that.
Until he is.
When Buck moves his hand, it's to slide it fully onto Eddie's thigh to just sit there, right at home.
Eddie's suddenly blinking so much he's a little worried he might be stroking.
He doesn't mean to say, “Can you smell toast?” but finds himself saying it anyway.
Buck smile is both crooked and adorable.
“You worried you're having a stroke, old man?”
“We'd have been at the same school at the same time, Buck. I'm not that much older than you.”
“You are old and I am young and everyone and the universe knows this,” Buck claims, cocky and sure of himself once more.
Eddie licks at his lips again.
“I, uh, I think I finally believe you.”
Buck now mirrors him, licking his own lips.
Cherry Chupa Chups.
“You mean about the universe?” he's asking, like he doesn't almost always knew what Eddie means.
“Yeah,” Eddie breathes.
Buck waits.
Just as Eddie is thinking he really should go put some on some sweats or something, Buck must get impatient because he replies, “I think it always wanted you to believe.”
Eddie doesn't have a clue what time it is, or whether he had dinner or not, or how he got so damn lucky.
“I'm gonna choose to believe, because you believe—and I believe in you, Buck” he says, somehow both sure and unsure of absolutely everything that is to come.
At long last, he finds he is totally okay with that.
“Anyways, I can hear it now,” he tells Buck, “and I'm listening.”
.

It's fun to bemoan the odd lines and such, and I was gonna make a joke, but I do think it is genuinely sad how much of Unraveled's promo is leaning so heavily into shipping.
Not because I hate sokeefe or Keefe, but because this is such a massively popular story that has so much to offer outside of a single ship, and it's such a disservice to the years of work Shannon has put in to crafting these characters' stories and world. And to the countless fans who adore the story and characters outside of this single ship.
Both Sophie and Keefe are more than sokeefe, and the way this story about injustice, and rebellion, and loss of self, and grief is being overshadowed by a relationship? See the kiss scene! sokeefe art! foster-related quote! These things themselves aren't bad, but there's no balance; they should be part of more, not the whole thing. KOTLC deserves to retain its complexity in marketing! The readers, including young, deserve to have the story not watered down for them when it's being pushed!
There's also something about how publishers told Shannon KOTLC wouldn't sell because Sophie's a girl, and she pushed through that, only for Sophie to become almost an accessory to Keefe's story here? Making appearances that focus on what Keefe thinks of her instead of Sophie herself. I don't have this fully articulated, but hopefully you see what I'm getting at
Shannon's said for years she hates love triangles, didn't mean to write one, and tries to stay firmly Team Sophie. And I believe her, which makes it worse seeing how despite Shannon's efforts, her story about a brave, stubborn, reckless, passionate girl trying to find herself and do what she can to right the wrongs she sees in the world is getting pared down to a love story.
Now we do have six more weeks to go, so we could get some variety in the future. it's just frustrating so far, and as fun as it is to make silly little jokes about it, I do think there is a genuine critique here of publishing and marketing and treatment of female led stories (yes, unraveled is about keefe, but Keeper is about Sophie), and I wanted to say something
