You Only Better With Kapampangan Make Up Artist Anna Tiglao

Kapampangans value beauty above many things. But one tip I appreciated from Anna Tiglao was ensure that your skin breathes and is clean.

In this interview, she shares the story of her creative journey as a make up artist along with more beauty tips.

1. How old are you and where in Pampanga are you from?

I am 35 years old and from San Fernando, Pampanga.

2. How did your love for makeup start?

I started experimenting with makeup since my early 20’s. It started with makeup I would borrow from my mom and then buying drug  store products. When I lived abroad about 8 years ago, high-end makeup brands became more accessible so my love for makeup intensified then, especially when I started to be exposed to different international looks and techniques.

3. How did you train to become a professional makeup artist?

I studied Professional Traditional Bridal MakeUp Course, Institute of Creative Entrepreneurship / Fashion Arts and Design, Shang-rila Manila and Intensive Airbrush & Corrective Bridal Makeup Certificate, Mistair Philippines, under Madge Lejano.

4. What’s a makeup trend in Pampanga that you love? What’s a makeup trend in Pampanga that you don’t love?

Makeup trend in Pampanga that I do love the most is having that skin-like base, flushed cheeks and lip tints. Makeup trend I don't like in Pampanga? Overdrawn eyebrows. :)

5. What’s a skincare or make up tip you think Kapampangans should know and practice? Why?

Skincare : Moisturizer and sunblock are must-haves and must-do's. Moisturiser nourishes the skin and gives the skin its dose of hydration. Sunblock protects the skin from UV Rays which damages the skin.

Makeup tip? Make sure your skin breathes with all the products on it :)  I think one of the most important tips is to prep your skin before putting on any makeup. Make sure your canvas, which is your face, is clean and well-moisturized before applying any foundation or powder.

The practice I noticed with a lot of women is that even if their skin is oily, they will just apply powder to blot out the oil. Although this is quicker and easier, it can cause skin problems like blackheads and acne.

So, my advice is to wash your face first or if that’s not possible, use face wipes to clean your face first, then put on just a small amount of moisturizer to avoid dry flaky skin before applying any powder or foundation.
