You bounced your 4 month old little girl up and down as you shushed her, trying to calm her down.
It was 11:00pm and you had just gotten your child to go to bed, but to your luck, just before you drifted off to sleep, you heard the cries of your child which had forced you to get out of bed.
You were overly tired. Falling asleep while doing almost everything; eating, going to the bathroom, taking a bath, in the last week you had probably gotten around 10 hours of sleep.
Your fiancee, Marshall, helped as much as he could, he'd constantly call and text you to see how you were doing or if you needed anything. You knew with his job that he'd be busy, so you never bothered to tell him that you needed at least a full day of sleep.
"Y/D/N, baby, what's wrong?" You asked after she denied her bottle for the second time.
You knew that she was only an infant and that she wasn't going to respond, but you had tried literally everything in your will to stop her crying and nothing worked.
It took around 30 minutes to get your child to go to sleep again.
"Please stay asleep" You whispered under your breath as you lightly set the small child down.
You stood there and watched her for a couple seconds to make sure she didn't wake up when you put her down but once you were fully convinced she was asleep, you turned around and walked out of the room, not bothering to shut the door, knowing you would probably end up back in there sooner or later.
You belly flopped on the empty bed that you and your fiancee shared, a sigh escaping from your lips, relieved that you finally could fall asleep, but before you could fully drift off, the sound of the bedroom door -that you had left cracked open- lightly hitting the wall disturbed you.
You immediately shot up, but then relaxed when you saw the very familiar face of your fiancee.
"Fuck, baby, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to wake you up" Marshall apologized before making his way over to you to place a sweet kiss on your lips.
You sighed before you responded "I wasn't asleep, I was about to, but I wasn't asleep" You said while wrapping your arms around his torso and leaning on his chest.
Marshall hooked his index finger under your chin and lifted it up to get a clear look at you.
"You look exhausted, honey" He said softly, removing his hand from under your chin and placing it on your arm, rubbing up and down.
"How was Bubba today?" He asked, using the nickname he had created for Y/D/N when you were still pregnant with her.
"Oh, she was an angel" You smiled up at him as wide as you could before you removed your hands from his torso and laid back down.
"And how was my girl's day?" Marshall asked, getting in bed with you, pulling you close to him so your back was against his chest.
"Tiring. I'm so tired" You yawned before turning in his grip and resting your head on his chest.
His hand went to play with your hair as you slowly drifted off, but before you could fully fall asleep, just like your first two attempts, you were woken up by Marshall who was trying to lift your head off his chest. You got the hint and sat up, rubbing your eyes.
"What?" You asked in complete confusion, not knowing why he got up so randomly.
"Y/D/N is crying, I'll be right back" He said while already practically in the hallway.
You sighed before getting out of bed, you grabbed the bottle that she never touched from the nightstand, and made your way to the nursery.
Once you entered the room, you saw Marshall holding Y/D/N, lightly bouncing her up and down, and singing little nursery rhymes in her ear.
You were completely shocked at how calm she was. She had been throwing fit after fit with you all day long, you had no idea how Marshall got her to be so calm all the time.
You walked up to your mini family and gave the bottle to Marshall, telling him that she had refused to drink it earlier and had probably woken up from being hungry.
Marshall put the bottle up to the small child's mouth, which she took with no problems at all.
"Yeah, Mommy knew you were hungry, huh?" Marshall cooed down at his daughter as he continued to bounce.
"What the fu-"
"Hey" Marshall whisper-yelled at you
"Language" He scolded
"She does not act like that with me" You pouted.
"All she does is cry, how did you get her to stop crying?"
He shrugged before answering.
"She may just be a Daddy's Girl"
"That's so not fair" You crossed your arms over your chest as you continued to watch the little one drink the rest of her formula.
She tried to continue sucking on the bottle after all the milk was gone, but before she could, Marshall took it from her.
"It's all gone, baby" He said softly while handing you the now empty bottle.
"Do you need me to make more?" You asked
He shook his head
"Nah, I'mma burp her then put her back to bed, I don't think she needs anything else." He said while repositioning the small child so her head was laying on his shoulder and he lightly started to pat her back.
You couldn't help but admire how good of a parent he was. Y/D/N was your first experience with a child and you had no idea what you were doing, so it was a relief to know that you had someone there that already had experience.
"Hey, Y/N." Marshall said which snapped you out of your thoughts
"Hmm?" You hummed in reply, not having the energy to actually say anything.
"Baby, you don't have to stand there and wait for me, it might take a minute. Plus, you look like you could pass out right there, go ahead and go to sleep, baby, I'll be there soon." He said, you could practically see the concern he had for you on his face.
You bit the inside of your check before speaking
"Are you sure?"
"Positive"
"Okay, well I'm gonna head to bed, then" You said before walking up to him to give him a quick peck on the lips.
"Good night, Marshall, Good night, little one" You said in a more babyish voice when you said 'good night' the infant.
Marshall turned around so the baby was facing you.
"Say "Good night, Mommy"." He told Y/D/N which caused you to giggle.
"Good night, my love" You stood on your tippy toes so you could kiss your baby on her cheek before you made your way out of the nursery.
On your way out, you could hear Marshall humming the tune of "The Itsy-Bitsy Spider" which caused you to smile.
It wasn't long until you were in bed once again and fully comfortable. You tried your best to stay awake just in case something were to happen but your plan didn't work, not even five minutes passed and you were out like a light.

It's just real funny how the die-hard fans drink up Neil's every little droplet of virtue-signalling and fanservicey comment about how Crowley and Aziraphale were always totally gay and if you question it you're the problem, even though it wasn't in the text, also worship me I'm God, but JK Rowling should have just shut up after writing her books and everything she said afterwards, like making Dumbledore gay, is cowardice and not-canon. Like whatever one's opinion is on the topic of the death of the author and whatnot, the double standard is just irritating
YES!!!
I’m not a HP fan (haven’t watched or read it yet), but from what I’ve seen, JK wasn’t nearly as insufferable about Dumbledore as Neil is with his pandering? I saw an interview recently where she was explaining that as she got to know Dumbledore while writing him, she just knew he was gay. It sounds more like she had this idea of the character, and was honest about it when asked. And I understand why she wouldn’t make it super explicit in the books, considering (from what I know of the series) he’s a teacher being viewed from Harry’s perspective, so his sexuality is irrelevant. Whereas GO doesn’t really have that “excuse” for A/C, especially when it falls back on homophobic jokes.
Wasn’t there also an interview where she said that there was a fan at a signing that was genuinely enraged about Dumbledore being gay? And people managed to be mad at JK for it somehow? To me that shows that she was willing to be honest about her interpretation of her character even when knowing it could result in backlash. Unlike a certain male author who’s only recently started to accept the idea that his characters love each other, now that homophobia isn’t as common as it was before.
It’s wild though that JK can be so casual and respectful about Dumbledore, and people tear her to shreds for “pandering” and “cowardice”…but Neil’s basically just signing off on whatever comes into his tumblr askbox regarding A/C to gain clout among teenagers, and he’s treated like the god of “queer representation”. If he were a woman, I don’t think he’d be getting this much praise.
Tbh if Neil acted more like JK about this, I’d hate him much less 😂 From what I’ve seen, she was just being honest about how she saw a character. Neil on the other hand, seems to just go with whatever’s going to get him more social media attention and asskissing.
