My thoughts: This version of Regulus is absolutely wild I love him. I read this ages ago and it was updated again??? I thought it was dead tbh.

What do you think of the characterisation of Orion and Walburga in "Legacy" from Shadowmistress13 ? In this story, Orion takes some liberties with Walburga which she allows herself. How do you feel about that ?

Goodness, what did he do in that story? it’s been almost 5 years since I read it and I don’t remember any specifics. I guess he just kissed her several times…no? You see - sometimes we incorporate certain stories in 'our' worlds and sometimes we just don't. I remember there were some ideas in that story that I didn't share…but tbh it’s so difficult to find a decent ow story where they are not cold-blooded maniacs, and even more difficult to find a decent romance story, that I never go deep into 'what I dislike' . To answer your question - in general, I’m not into turning them into victorian puritan couple 🤷🏻‍♀️ at all. However it’s important (for me at least) not to spoil ‘the magic’, so to speak… I would hate to make them vulgar. If you ask me whether ‘my’ Orion and Walburga would do the things they did in that story - then my answer is no and no. You see, I have completely other views on their personalities. But, at the same time, I always say that it’s a good ow story which is an extreme rarity.

Character Study: Sirius Black Part 2/2

In the second part on Sirius-centric fanfiction, I found myself reading two stories that addressed a similar prompt in two different ways.

2. Foreshadowing Demise by Shadowmistress13

Premise: Sirius falls into the Veil and falls back in time, giving him a second chance to get to know his brother.

This story is wonderful, and not at all what I expected it to be when I first realized it revisited the Marauder’s school years. Most time-travel stories are content to preserve the timeline, and while this story seems to do that at first - it starts to differentiate from canon in subtle but complex ways.

I love that the characters in this story are given the chance to breathe and to grow in different ways that we’ve seen before. Sirius and Regulus have a complex brotherly dynamic - and this story illustrates that without establishing either character as being in the right.

I only have two issues with this story. 1. For being the main character, Sirius (as Salem) hasn’t had a comprehensive arch for quite a few chapters. 2. This story is not complete and I desperately wish it was!

3. Twisting Time by the-writer1988

Premise: Sirius falls into the Veil and falls back in time to 1981 where he attempts to help him and his friends survive the war.

Originally, I thought this story would be focusing on the events that led up to Halloween 1981 - and how Sirius would fix them. I was excited about this prospect of having a strict timeline for the story to adhere to, since, as a reader, it would mean that the author would be bringing us straight into the anxiety, the secrecy and the events of the first war.

Alas, this is not what this story turned out to be. Overall, the characters were enjoyable even if the plot turned out to be slightly predictable. Nonetheless, the story was enjoyable as a one-time read.

So someone had mentioned this before and I decided to make a post about it. I love, love, love marauders fan fiction. I love the ones that follow canon and the ones that don’t follow canon. I have read a lot and there’s three that are my personal favorite.

1) Falling Star by Goldlioness4. This is a Sirius centric one that starts the day of the whomping willow prank. It follows canon but still has some added characters. The story goes through the prank, Sirius’ abuse by the hands of his parents, being disowned, losing his friends and trying to get them back, and his fall. His “fall” is what I call him going from rich heir to the object of pure blooded torment at Hogwarts. Very good story and I’ll definitely be rereading soon.

2) Against The Moon by Stoplight Delight. This is one is a very, very long term one. It moves slowly but definitely brought a tear to my eye more than once. It’s a Remus centric one that follows him from the bite. He has his muggle mother and wizard father (their names aren’t canon), shows how werewolves are treated and follows each month of his life starting at Hogwarts, becoming friends with the marauders, and them finding out. Very canon with their personalities. Not wolf star but Remus’ friendship with Sirius is so beautifully written. Like I said, extremely long and slow but I love it.

3) Foreshadowing Demise by Shadowmistress13. This one is definitely one of my favorites. Main line is Sirius trying to find out what went wrong between him and Regulus and how to fix it. It starts with his death in OOTP, he wakes up in his current body but years before. It takes place while he’s at Hogwarts. He wakes up (old) and bumps into Regulus. He doesn’t tell him who he is and it happens after Sirius was disowned. Sirius makes it personal mission to go back to Hogwarts and try to make things right. The story switches between old Sirius whos transfigured his body to be a teenager and the Sirius of that timeline. It’s very well written and really good. This mainly for people who love the Sirius and Regulus brotherly angst.

Please reply with some other fan fictions you like. Could be marauders centric, James, Sirius, Remus, wolfstar, jily, or even Regulus abs house of black centric. I want this to be a post with the best of the best marauders fanfiction for other people to discover :)
