look @vinterskald that’s literally how you used to greet me on the train 😭😭
There should be an equivalent to asking "how's the wife and kids?" that's like "so how's that fictional man of yours doing?"

top 10 atrocious shtv plotline
let me preface by saying i do not hate shadowhunters. it camp demon fighting hot people in leather with not enough lighting and candles as regular guest stars. this list is my personal opinion, a little something something rage filled silly little rants of my favorite show and its clown moment. picture this as the inner monologue of the lead in an indie romcom who speaks in metaphors and has a letterbox account. so sit back, grab your set and stele because you will need so much iratze for your sanity.
content warning: this rant will touch upon topics such as mental health, addiction, attempted suicide and incest.
10. magnus lost his magic
magnus is magnificent in everything, so that is why this plotline disappointed me. it has so much potential and they end up doing the bare minimum. there's no way magnus fricking bane has no one to rely on when he lost his magic besides alec. no fricking way. we should have gotten magnus to work out alec's deal with asmodeus by himself. i'm also of the opinion that magnus should be the one to figure out a way to get his magic back (there are lots of good fics exploring this, i recommend you check it out) it end up in this position cause overall it a good and interesting premise and magnus outsmarting his father and using his portal (something that magnus invented) to defeat him is a good conclusion
9. heidi took over dumort and planned to dominate the shadoworld
i mean this happened in the book, but it was given way way more screen time than necessary in the show. please dont tell me a newly born vampire is suddenly a master manipulator and leader and makes every vampire bend to her will. you're trying to be serious not comedy shtv. and how about we give all of heidi screen time to flesh out clary and magnus plotline in S3B more?? or idk, give the lightwood trio A PLOTLINE this season besides being the supporting partner
8. jordan redemption arc
he's an abuser. he's an abuser. HE IS AN ABUSER. we don't need him sobbing and crying and then ‘dying’ in front of maia. i loathe how for a second i thought they gonna make maia go back together with jordan again. the only good thing come out of it is maia getting somewhat closure, and i used that term loosely
7. the owl
jace spent S3A being mind controlled by lilith, struggling, begging to be killed, being mind control again, then free. he doesn't have a single moment after all that bullshit to process because oh we need the plot to move along and another fresh trauma has arrived at the jace station. and oh remember the soul sword thing??? when there's an attempt to write the payoff of jace unintentionally killing a bunch of people? i dont know about you but the show writers sure do not. the rules and influence of lilith over jace is so confusing it is ridiculously hilarious
6. alec and jace's parabatai bond
i've already done a recap of all the wonderful moments of jace parabatai career so i will keep this really simple. picture the parabatai bond as group final assessment. alec is pulling all-nighter, groupchat urging to finish tasks on time, one on one meetings with professor for feedback, two hours finalizing and fixing the final product. jace is "why do i have to do so much" and submitting work late two hours that don't pass the plagiarize check
5. team evil (evil clary + S3B jonathan)
i would like to remind you she turns fully evil in episode 18 and is cured of it in episode 20. they build this evil plotline up through clary burning her hand, snapping at simon once and losing it at aline (who btw i believe is justified in her rage how many people sebastian/jonathan/ginger incest bread have killed) clary turning evil means she now will sexily whisper her line, wear tighter/revealing dress and stare at people with smoldering eyes. because of course, evil female characters are like that. i also need writers for that clace scene in the club when jace's on seelie drug to answer for their crime against my sanity
jonathan S3B is bad. and not even the fun kind. when you compare this character to the one in S2B, he got clear on every possible aspect i almost shed a tear. he, like evil clary, has so much potential. but the way the writing goes makes him just hilariously pathetic. yes i am in fact referring to him yelling 'YOU WILL NEVER LOVE ME' at clary and then flying away in his devil cosplay
4. merlion getting taken to the silent brothers
alec is shit for blindly following the clave's order, jace betrays his parabatai and along with izzy and clary conducts a stupid plan that can create an all-out war and involves two of the downworlder leaders in all that. also, magnus steal alec stele aka the acting head stele…because bad decision is infectious in this episode. considering how serious they’re trying to make the political aspect of the show to be, the fact that this exists. literally insane. this whole plotline is to highlight how clary is the hero who stands up for justice and morals and all of that when she the one contributing the least. she just stands around lets everyone do stuff for her and they're trying to convince us she's the hero. then she and jace fuck off to another dimension after roping people into their mess because that is what a good hero does.
that screencap. she said that surrounding by downworlders. her kendall jenner pepsi world peace era
3. alec's mental health
alec try to jump off that balcony and the only person they show having any concern over it is magnus in the next episode. oh no no, not even in that lightwood family talk in the same episode of the balcony thing, with you know, his mom and his parabatai, not a word. and the only one who says anything related to it is clary of all people. im convinced the whole alec killing off jocelyn is for alec to feel guilty and then ease him into a friendship with clary because this is no way to handle this type of story there is no way. and it is not like they say oh well, here's the end of this. because they include shots of alec pinching his hands at that hospital scene. what was the reason? has alec not had enough on his plate already? friendly reminder, iris's spell at that party caused people to project their insecurities and everyone was fighting each other. and who does alec blame? who does he fight? who he thinks is worthless of living and no one will miss? himself. do they drop this storyline faster than clace romance? yes!
2. clace
ah, instant love that makes no sense because we are supposed to believe it is the way it is. the writers keep telling us there is nothing compared to their love but doesn't show us SHIT when it comes to that. don't believe me? oh, okay, the number of dates that they have before crusty lord of the lifetime valentine morgenshit breaks the fake sibling news is that time when jace stands and watches clary get encanto and tough inappropriately by a vampire and their rendezvous with fake dad. then in S2A they mostly interact when clary is in trouble and needs jace help. clary dates the first person she knows already has feeling for her, jace goes around very around. they don't bond or try to talk or interact besides jace constantly looking sulkily at clary and simon. then 2x14 it all reveals she loves jace she desires jace no one for her but jace. and i totally forgot jace's confession via the soul sword about loving clary, not the way you would love a sister and all that. their first date as an again couple is 3x02…the love confession is ridiculous because he's saying all these things despite us literally never seeing that on screen. they bonk when clary still links with her psychopath brother, that whole scene alone should pay for my therapy. we kept being told they are in love, but we are never shown that. hey, maybe some advice. slapping romantic music over a scene will not make the scene romantic, you actually need to write it too. this relationship goes nowhere because itself and the two characters inside it doesn't change. it's always clary wants something so jace push everyone and everything under the solar system out of the way to give it to her. this wouldn't be a problem if, yk, it is only in the first season and they have character development. but let me remind you S3B they summon lilith back to earth despite magnus losing his magic to help defeat her (didn't make it to this list but a very strong honorary mention) with the worst possible plan. relying on a guy simon knew for less than the time clary and jace spent thinking through their plan. it like you are asking for him to betray you
aldetree izzy raphael and yinfen
one of the only major plotlines izzy has. and it's this. because of course this addict seeks a provider then both fall in love and the provider becomes addict again is super duper appropriate to happen to these two. two of the poc characters who are prominent in the show. one of the few female characters. of course very splendid decisions right there. and at the end of the series izzy gets together with someone who can make her relapse again. all because this storyline that could have been cut off and replaced with something more decent. but nope! sexily blood drinking time!

the summer i turned pretty ... review ... lord give me strength
I am already crying in frustration just looking at the recap, guys, this acting is BAD.
This is going to be a mean review. Like me and initiumseries watching Shadowhunters sober mean. You've been warned.
"Belly, I think about you. I do. You know I do." CAN YOU HAVE SOME EMOTION IN YOUR VOICE PLEASE?
"How am I supposed to jump into things with Jeremiah when a piece of my heart still beats for his brother." WHO. SPEAKS THIS WAY. WHO? Even in your most angsty, teenage-y, write bad poetry phase who SAYS that? YOU WRITE THAT IN YOUR JOURNAL OR YOUR BAD POETRY.
Y'all, this is JUST me reacting to the recap. I don't know if I can survive this.
Do I hate something more than Bridgerton? Is that possible?
I was about to be like is a voiceover necessary for this show but considering how horrible the acting is, they need the voiceover to communicate the emotions to the audience because the actors sure as hell aren't.
"Escaping to your dreams is easier than living with your memories" we don't need voiceover for everything though. Oh my god, I hate this show.
OK here is the thing with Conrad and Belly? is that it? She's trying way too hard to perform that giddy can't stop smiling, twirly feeling that it just looks like fidgeting because they don't ACTUALLY vibe
He looks like he's reaching for an emotion and she looks like Robert Pattinson on the set of Twilight, she's not even going to try, she's checked out
This is why I didn't want to do this review because I was like, it seems like anons love this show and I really, really, really won't. And of course there's nothing wrong with loving this show and loving this ship or whatever else ship there is, like do your thing absolutely, but like faaaaaaaam, this is BAD for me.
"You're it for me, Belly" jesus christ you're like 12.
"I don't want to hurt Jere" "Me neither!" Really? Because you seem PERFECTLY okay with doing so. HAHAHA is this going to be another edwina thing?
Y'all can't even SNEAK properly, like have any of them acted before this?
Like she keeps doing little head movements to show how giddy and swirly she's feeling
and I get it because that's what you do when you feel that way but if there was actual chemistry here, it would be natural
like even when they're "caught"
Dawson and Joey did that better (and I'm using them specifically because lou sent me an article I did not read that said this show was the best teen show since Dawson's Creek and I had to laugh)
like this is the this-is-really-funny-but-we're-nervous twirly behaviour and they vibe.
Like I should be getting this kind of energy
Are there any young dark-skinned boys on this show? What's going on?
I can't deal with the combination overacting and underacting.
It's summer, why is the guidance counsellor JUST having this conversation with her?
LMAO I don't know the circumstances because I didn't watch season 1 but for real Belly looks shitty here.
BUT I SHOULD BE GETTING DAWSON AND JOEY ANGST HERE, MAN. Like, it's clearly supposed to be that kind of scene because they say the same type of things that Dawson and Joey say to each other when he finds out about Pacey but Dawson and Joey are MESSY, it's DRAMA
I can't deal with the contained, neat, manufactured, non-emoting yet somehow over-acting yet somehow monotonous, sluggishly paced gen z teen dramas. I CAN'T DO IT.
I'm just wondering if that anon is reading this ... how is Conrad the best actor exactly?
Like no one is, but why him? "No matter what happens, we'll still be infinite" in the FLATTEST voice with the FLATTEST expression?
it's not Lucas confidence
or Stefan sincerity
or Seth desperation
or Chuck conviction
it's just this
hard. pass.
y'all it's been 15 minutes.
her brother's valedictorian speech is neither funny nor clever, I don't know if I can make it through an entire episode, this show makes me violent.
I'm skipping this speech.
Now I'm suddenly thinking of Rory's valedictorian speech, I don't remember it but I feel like rather than it being a speech to uplift her fellow graduates it was just about her and her life in Stars Hollow.
They're supposed to be SO CLOSE that they call each other family and EVERYONE IS SO AWKWARD and STIFF.
At the very least one of them should be painting the other's toenails or she should be stroking Belly's hair or SOMETHING to show that they're like family.
I'm tired of hearing extra being used because no one uses it properly but ANYWAY, moving on.
like I can't be expected to take this seriously
that's just like going THERE. THERE.
like I believe the excitement in her face more than I have believed ANYTHING ELSE that has happened so far but I mean ...
Like are you two siblings? Like what's going ON here, man.
He did not deserve to go viral.
Are the parents divorced or are they just devoid of looking like they know each other like everyone else on this show?
The mother's views on not promoting her book don't make sense, then she shouldn't have published it. Also how long ago did Susannah die? Like a year ago? Because it takes, at minimum, two years to traditionally publish a book, you have to write it, you have to do at the very least three rounds of edits with the editor then at least a couple of rounds with the copy editor then it needs to be formatted, then there's the cover, then there's sending ARCs to other authors for blurbs, then if there's an audiobook there' auditions for actors, like there's a whole process but anyway.
OK can we drop the whole "I don't snore" banter -- and I use that word so loosely -- is there nothing else to banter about?
They are so boring to listen to.
I don't know how it is in the States but if you're taking trig in the 11th grade/junior year then you chose to take trig so you would be good at trig.
"You know every time I think of him I still get this, like, pain in my chest" she said, dully.
Milo looks like wannabe Dylan O'Brien being wannabe Machine Gun Kelly
So. Boring. To listen to. It also doesn't help that Belly sucks at telling a story. Why do I care about the guy Katie was seeing? You barely seem to care ma'am.
YOU'RE MY SOBER DRIVER. Do cabs not exist here?
This blow up with her brother should be LOUD and PAINFUL, there should be SCREAMING and BASS in their voices
like i know they can't all be JAW but SOMETHING my GOD
BITCH WERE YOU?
For the way they're talking, she should be Buffy about Angel
she should be Willow about Oz
she should be Caroline about Tyler
those phone conversations should be kdrama shit
like this is ALL SO BLAND and I just want Belly to shut up, she's insufferable, man.
are you sure?
Oh thank god it's over.

i love watching recaps and reviews of popular books because it means i get to have a little insight into what i could have been obsessed with had i not gotten two chapters into that rainbow rowell gay vampire book and decided it was not meeting my bare minimum levels of competent writing and engaging storytelling and the course of my life was permanently changed so that i would never become a voracious y/a fantasy reader. today i am learning about shadowhunter by cassandra clare who i know from bad lord of the rings fanfictions and the msscribe debacle. the fact that they let these people write real books despite having thousands of words of nsfw harry potter teenage incest fanfiction published online using the same damn author pseudonym... its really astonishing

100 books and a recap
I read a hundred books! Yay! Time for a recap and some admin. Apparently.
I have gone back and added two pretty self-explanatory tags to this blog: #dante's discard pile, and #dante's top shelf. "Top Shelf" are literally the books I have put on my designated "I sincerely love these books, omg, holy shit, they're so amazing I can't breathe" shelf. "Discard pile"... is my discard pile. Hurray.
Btw, with 13 top shelfs and 14 discards, my ratio isn't ideal, but definitely not as terrible as it could be, I find. Especially since both are sorta inconcistent and neither of these numbers could ever manage to fully reflect my tastes anyway. (For example, there are at least two books that would be discards if they weren't the fourth and fifth part of a six part series, and there is a whole trilogy on the top shelf mainly because it outshines its greater canon by so much that I felt the need to elevate it to higher ground somehow. (Funnily enough, all these special snowflakes are Shadowhunter books)). But whatever.
Anyway, there is another outlier to this tagging system, as Discworld, at least for me, is very much a category of its own (posts to be found under #dante reads discworld). Nineteen (19) of the one hundred books I have read over the last two-and-a-half years were Discworld books, and they were all bangers, because it's Discworld - duh. Btw, I do intend to keep going with the chronological read-through, but the next book is Hogfather, and reading that one in deepest summer feels... weird. Like trying to go sledding in your own backyard while it's 27°C outside. Also, if someone wants to illuminate me why my post on Witches Abroad, of all things, cracked three digits, I'd be much oblidged (so I can staunchly avoid whatever it was in the future).
Another series that I read a lot of is Cassandra Clare's Shadowhunter series, currently clocking in at fourteen (14)... After a lot of back and forth, I think this has ended up my designated guilty pleasure series. I enjoy it, but it is also completely stupid and unhinged and I will be the first in line to tear it to pieces when required.
It almost pains me to say this, because again, I read fucking Discworld, but as it stands right now, the best books I have read for this project were A Conspiracy Of Truths and A Choir Of Lies by Alexandra Rowland. I do not care what anyone says. Those are it. If you have not read them yet I do not know what you are still doing here. Get going.
(For anyone with too much morbid curiosity, the worst was either Starcrossed or City of Lost Souls. I refuse to waste further words on either.)
Lastly, a list. Unfinished (by me) series I intend to continue here:
- Discworld (duh) - Shadowhunters (I'm sorry) - Grishaverse (unfortunately) - The Last Binding (as soon as part 3 is out) - The Ivory Key (again, as soon as part 2 is out) - Starcrossed (because I already own these books (even if it is against my will), a promise is a promise, and I am strangely eager to tear them to pieces)
#i have absolutely no clue how to tag this#links for the tags to follow if I manage to find out how?#anyway apparently 100 is a) less than I thought#and b) not even a decently sized dent in my shelves

Shadowhunters (S0E14) “A Kiss from a Rose” and (S03E15) “To the Night’s Children”
Shadowhunters (S0E14) “A Kiss from a Rose” and (S03E15) “To the Night’s Children”
The writers of Shadowunters keep acting like the show isn’t coming to an end. There are too many subplots going on, too many villains, and they keep starting new things rather than wrapping them. Jonathan, Heidi, Lorenzo, the civil war in Downworld, the torturers in the Clave, Magnus’s magic, the Seelie Queen who’ll be coming back soon, and more. We did just receive news that the finale will…

Shadowhunters Recap: Season 1
[all Shadowhunters Recaps here] @nightingalestakeflight
All the while, Jocelyn and Luke changed their last names and lived in peaceful hiding in the mundane world. Jocelyn became an artist, Luke became a cop, both raised the baby together and tried to protect her from Valentine by actively gaslighting her for eighteen years. And, like, not in the way fandom uses it. They were so busy convincing Clary that reality isn't reality, every time she saw something supernatural, that they took her to a powerful warlock named Magnus Bane to actually alter her memories.
(Clary Fray and Luke Garroway, who should be her dad, but her mom was an idiot. If you liked it then you shoulda put a ring on it, Jocelyn)
That works until Clary's eighteenth birthday, when she goes out to celebrate with her best friend the nerd Simon - and gets dragged into the supernatural.
(Clary Fray and Simon Lewis, best friends since diapers)
They run into Alec, Izzy and Jace, who are there on a demon slaying mission. The thing is, those three are using their rune-magic to be invisible to mundies - which works on Simon, who can’t see them, but doesn’t work on Clary, who can see them, since she is a Shadowhunter. Clary is startled and when she runs back home - it’s to find her apartment trashed, her mom gone and a demon waiting for her. Thankfully for her, Jace was intrigued by the supposed mundie who could see him and followed her (because it’s not like Shadowhunters just casually live in the world; there aren’t that many anymore and they live in the Institute and work there too).
Jace gets very involved from the get-go, Izzy is very friendly with Clary and is also on board with helping her, Alec is incredibly against this idea. He’s outvoted.
(Clary Fray and Izzy Lightwood. Looks gay. Isn’t actually gay though)
They investigate and find out that Clary is Valentine Morgenstern’s daughter. At the same time, Simon - who may not have understood what was going on but wasn’t going t let his best friend do this alone - gets kidnapped by vampires and, consequently, turned into a vampire by (Magnus Bane’s ex-girlfriend) Camille.
Their investigations lead them to Magnus himself, since he was the one who had taken Clary’s memories as a child. To piece the whole picture together, they think they have to get those memories back. Additionally to everything else, Magnus is also the High Warlock - basically, the warlock in charge of all warlocks in New York (though he bears the title “of Brooklyn”, which makes little sense and is unnecessarily confusing).
(Magnus Bane, magnificent warlock)
Naturally, that doesn’t work out so easily, because Magnus had fed Clary’s memories to a memory-demon “for safe-keeping” and to get them back, they would each have to sacrifice a memory of the person they love the most. For Alec, that’s Jace. Not because they’re parabatai, but because he’s in love with Jace - a thing he has been hiding for many years at this point now, so this makes Alec panic and break the circle and thus spell, causing Clary’s memories to be lost forever due to just how deep he is in the closet.
Meanwhile Luke, whom Clary hadn’t sought out due to a misunderstanding after overhearing half a conversation, is revealed to be a werewolf and Valentine’s parabatai and he also claims the title of alpha of the pack now, so he can protect Clary better. They now also learn about the existence of a Jonathan and about an ancient artifact known as the Mortal Cup that Jocelyn had stolen when she disappeared.
This mess unfolding in New York also reaches the higher-ups and the Clave sends an envoy to seize control of the New York Institute from the Lightwoods, because the whole Valentine-revival-party apparently made them think that maybe it’s not a great look to have two former Circle members be the leaders of an Institute.
(Lydia Branwell, badass envoy of the Clave)
Alec, still very deep in the closet, thinks it’s a good idea to get married to Lydia. Perfect beard. Also perfect solution to getting his family back in power, because usually a married couple rules an Institute.
I’m skipping over some minor details here, because they don’t factor in the overall plot, but Izzy’s Seelie on-again-off-again boyfriend Meliorn gets arrested and rescued by Izzy, which causes her to get arrested, Camille (the vampire clan-leader) gets fired because she turned Simon into a vampire without his consent and instead Raphael (who is like a son to Magnus) is promoted.
We are now going on a side-quest to an alternate universe because - and, just, don’t question certain things, they don’t necessarily make sense, they make plot - they need a thing that they can’t find in their reality and Jocelyn was carrying a shard to a portal so Clary goes seek that portal to check in that alternate reality to find the thing. It gave us a visual of soft pastel Jace, so I’m not necessarily complaining here.
Meanwhile, Inquisitor Herondale arrives in New York as judge for Izzy’s trial. She’s basically the highest figure of authority in the Shadowhunter society.
(Inquisitor Imogen Herondale. A GILF with power and authority. Kill me now)
While Imogen, Izzy, Alec, Lydia and also Magnus - who jumps in as Izzy’s lawyer for no really understandable reason (meaning: he is not a lawyer) - are busy with the trial, Jace and Clary, on their way back from the alternate universe, find Michael Wayland. Very much not dead. Only that he’s not Michael Wayland, of course, he’s Valentine, who once again took that form to mess with his children’s head.
This time, by telling them they’re both his children. Which, they are. But he makes them believe that they are both his biological children and that Jace is Jonathan #1. Since no one aside from Valentine knew that there were two Jonathans, this works. Because, well, at that point in time it made quite sense; if Michael was really Valentine, then Michael’s son Jonathan must be Valentine’s son Jonathan (at which point, let me note: Shadowhunters are not creative when it comes to naming their children).
This reveal is very disturbing for Clary and Jace, who over the course of the past eleven days of knowing each other have developed a mutual crush on each other. (Yes, all of that has happened in less than two weeks so far. Which, at this point in time, is actually still a believable timeline, honestly.) Also, they find Jocelyn here, with Valentine, but she’s in a magic coma.
Izzy is cleared off all charges, Lydia and Alec are pretty much set for their wedding, yet another acquaintance of Magnus’ comes up as useful in all of this but he turns out dead, Magnus is developing a crush on Alec and is being pushing about Alec maybe not marrying a woman considering he’s gay as a rainbow. Which Alec doesn’t want to hear, because the gay’s gotta stay in the closet and he also can’t quite deal with his own blossoming attraction to Magnus.
It’s the day of Lydia and Alec’s wedding (after a long-lasting four day engagement)! And everything goes to shit. Naturally.
Magnus crashes Lydia and Alec’s wedding in the plot of a twelve year old’s first fanfiction, dramatically sweeping Alec off his feet in front of all of his co-workers and family, despite the whole rampant homophobia and the fact that Alec was so deep in the closet he was ready to marry a woman just a second ago. This one wasn’t written for the plot, it was written for the ship, hence the personal judgement of “a twelve year old’s first fanfiction”, because the dramatic moment’s serious repercussions are just... skipped. Shadowhunters kind of forget to be homophobic from hereon out and Lydia is very okay with this public embarrassment too, all works out well and Alec has gained a boyfriend with zero personal consequences despite having spent all his life fearing said consequences!
(A side note: Tackling big topics such as homophobia and then just not actually tackling them and dealing with the realistic outfall of them is one of this show’s biggest flaws. They just kind of pretend the big, systemic problem... goes away.)
In the aftermath of the failed wedding, a close friend of the Lightwoods betrays them and steals the Mortal Cup. (It had been hidden inside a tarot card that Jocelyn’s best friend had kept safe. They had found it and wanted to bring it to the Clave after the wedding.)
The group - Magnus, Alec, Jace, Izzy, Clary, Simon - chase after it, but Valentine tricks them. He threatens to kill them all if Jace doesn’t go with him. Jace chooses his friends’ safety over his own and goes with his abuser.

We Jace You a Clary Christmas Recap and Review
If you have not read the 60 pages of Clace content that was in Cassie’s email today, this will contain spoilers. If you are not subscribed to the news letter, here are the basics.
Awake: This was the Pandemonium scene from Izzy’s pov. This really highlighted how much different Jace was pre-Clary and I don’t think I noticed it as much before.
When Midnight Comes: The famous green house kiss but from Jace’s point of view. Actual kinda sweet reason why he was mad that Simon was in Clay’s room. Very fluffy, I loved this one.
Because It Is Bitter: Still cringing, it is the Seelie Court ‘kiss you most desire’ scene from Jace’s point of view. Got me thinking about what Simon’s POV must have been for this scene.
Jace POV Manor Scene: It got worse. There was the forbidden quote, the cursed quote if you will. I had to close the computer and take a break, forgot that that was where that quote came from and almost died. The price you pay for free content...
The Act of Falling: This was better, no incest. Kisses, a bit angsty. Over all I liked this one.
Our Walking Souls: I...I don’t even know where to begin, a true holiday gift. It was just *chef’s kiss* Basically, it takes place while Jace and Clary are in faerie during Lord of Shadows. They have some(a lot of) fun...and there is more of an in site to their lives running the institute and Clary’s thoughts while thinking she was going to die. Very much loved this.
A Long Conversation: So. Much. SIZZY!!!!! I also really enjoyed this one which was about Simon and Izzy’s engagement party. This has possibly inspire me to write some Sizzy headcanons????! Clary was being the absolute girl boss that she is and handling everything thrown at her like a queen. Little Malec which made me happy because it is a.) Magnus’s birthday so I am in a Malec mood and b.) I love them so much.
A Love That Never Tires: After/During the Malec wedding. They both propose at the same time, love it. So happy I didn’t have to wait another 4 years to see if they get engaged or not lol!
Overall I really enjoyed these and it was so nice of her to send these. I know I said somethings about the 3rd and 4th one but no hate, Clace content is Clace content. I love these books and her writing and was so excited to get this email. If y’all want to just fangirl rant to someone about it you can message me privately or put it in my ask box.
Thanks for reading. Lots of Love and Goodnight!

Lol I haven’t read The Cruel Prince but the snippets you’ve posted remind me of The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare.
It’s set in the 1800s. The protagonist, Tessa, is forced to move from NYC to London because her aunt died and her brother is in London and he can take care of her. When she gets off the boat, she’s kidnapped by demons who hold her in a secret location and teach her how to use her newly discovered shape shifting powers by tormenting her. She’s eventually rescued by Will. Will is Dark and Tormented but he Likes Books and so is Surprisingly Sensitive. Tessa falls for him throughout the book, but at the end, he rejects her and tells her he can have sex with her but he can never marry her because she’s a warlock and thus beneath him as he is a Shadowhunter. This impugns her honor and throughout the second book, he subtly insults her but it turns out that gasp! Will was cursed by a demon as a child and everyone whom he loves will die and Will actually loves Tessa but cannot bear the thought of losing her, so he despairingly belittles her to keep her safe from him, but he also kisses her on the sly on the off chance that the warlock he is working with will lift his curse and he will be free to be with Tessa. Meanwhile, Tessa is falling for Will’s dying parabati, Jem. Jem is Kind, Fierce, and Plays the Violin.
Of course, it turns out the demon was lying to Will and Will’s believing the lie was the real curse after all. Will proposes to Tessa, but she is engaged to Jem by that point. So much Angst.
I almost feel like Will’s cruelty toward everyone in his life was justified after I read the excerpt from the YA book you posted, that’s how bad it was.
L M A O. This recap and subsequent roasting of The Cruel Prince is everything.
