From a whumpy WIP:

There’s a flash of movement in front of him, on the other side of the shimmering wall, and he whips around to look at it, immediately regretting the movement as a wave of dizziness hits him. He sways, going down to his elbows and knees, and rests his head a moment on the floor, muttering a curse.

”Caleb, what-“ he swallows down a wave of nausea, gripping the floor in the vain hope it will make the room stop spinning. “-what happened?”

“What do you remember? We were fighting something that was down here-“

”-I…I think I remember that.” Flashes of a fight filter back, impressions more than solid memories. Caleb’s shouts, spells firing off, the strange screech of something that had been kept in the bowels of the fallen city, waiting-

“-I don’t know how I got in here, though. I didn’t- I couldn’t have-“ Thoughts are hard. “I may be concussed.”

The shape on the other side of the wall moves closer, crouching down to his level before pressing a hand to the barrier, and Essek realizes it’s Caleb.

”Are you alright? Other than the concussion? I think there was a wild magic flare- you disappeared after casting something, and reappeared in there.”

”I think the teleport it set off was not immediately successful.”

Just saw the Mighty Nein reunion in theaters and...

Anyway I'm rushing home to start typing because I am deeply, aching over the lack of Essek. I need the angst. I need the reunion. I need Essek to be safe in his husband's arms at the nearest convenience.

However, despite the Essek drought, I ADORED the reunion regardless of a rushed ending or no. It was so lovely to see them all and my theatre was lovely and high energy.

But yes, anyway, time to write these boys.

In honor of the anniversary of the most unhinged shadowgast era, I present you the Timeloop-babygast-execution Au, where two mad lads run away from home (secret military underground bunker) and try their hands at murdering criminals (Caleb, their own father) and piss off a powerful dunamancer (Essek, their other father) enought to set up a timeloop none of them can escape (until they sit down and talk about their feelings/misunderstandings).

I can't fucking escape the urge to create lovechild OCs that turn into whole fucking characters in their own right.

I wish I could draw because good lord I wanna draw the Shadogast children I have been working on for like three years.

There's like four of them. A drow, a human, a half drow, and a tiefling. The acquisition of these children is mostly Essek's fault and one of them was obtained via Wizard Means™.
