One minute build! A "Reclaimed Modern" Floating Shelf I made out of 100-year-old pine flooring and Corian from the kitchen of my childhood home. Using a process called "thermoforming," I shaped the Corian and fit the pine shelving to it for a sleek form with loads of character! What do you think? #tbt for today to one of my favorite designs. I find it satisfying to juxtapose modern and minimalist form with the rich texture and history of reclaimed materials. A dry fit of my new floating shelf design. Two pieces of 1800s reclaimed, locally salvaged pine juxtaposed and supported by thermoformed corian at the edges. Reclaimed Modern Floating Shelf. The edges are thermoformed Corian saved from the house I grew up and in. The middle is pine subflooring salvaged from a local factory renovation.
