“stargate universe is so serious” there’s an entire subplot in “the hunt” where eli accidentally freezes brody in a stasis pod and spends the rest of the ep trying to get him out without telling rush aha. and SPOILER ALERT rush actually knows the entire time (bc he’s the one who froze brody in the first place) and he’s just watching on a monitor as eli scrambles for shits & giggles. also eli immediately drags chloe into this mess too (soulmates) and it’s so ??? literally peak workplace comedy + “pls dont tell my dad” energy!

Okay i watched 3.5 episodes of sgu and so far I am enjoying rush and everetts. Thing. Thats going on with them. I see hatefucking in their future in my opinion

ok look, it's not as simple as with SG-1 and SGA, because I like a bunch of people!!!

First of there is TJ who I will protect with all my life and she deserves the world and also a hug and a forehead kiss and not an emotionally constipated CO

I also really like Camile, she's badass and cool (especially in season 2, in season 1 she sometimes annoys me with the IOA blablabla) but she is amazing with her wife and with Eli and everything and I really appreciate her. Also, just put her in charge of Destiny with TJ at her side. It would fix so many things.

I also really like Vanessa James? But I think i mostly like the headcanon version of her? It's unfortunate that they spent so much of her character as being jealous/pissed at Matt and basically making that her whole character. She wouldn't be that petty. She'd move on. (and make Chloe her girlfriend).

Finally I have to mention Lisa Park, who is such a sunshine but who is also not scared to take what she wants :) i feel like she's a bit of the heart of the crew, she's connected with a lot of the crew and very social in general. That + her hopefulness and positivity really make her shine and help the crew i think <3

Hello, and thanks for the asks... love the questions, and oh my goodness thereby squirms a bad of toads!

3. What inspired Breathe?

Well, mostly I blame thank the entire Rumbelle fandom for this. I was reading a lot of fic, and several Rushbelle fics, and because my muse is a fickle SOB for whatever reason I suddenly wondered how the dynamic of Stargate Universe would change if Belle were among the crew of Destiny.

I think part of why, all joking aside, is a Monthly Rumbelling fic I wrote back in February of 2020 called Chosen, But Not Wanted. That fic was supposed to be a short little one shot. Well, it turned out not short, nor a one-shot. It has a following fic called Mistress where Belle and Rush are clearly in some kind of relationship, but Destiny is getting in their way. @xiolaperry was the one who said to me that the ship was almost like the third person in their non-functional throuple (though they didn't quite put it that way), and that gave me the title for the series that includes Breathe, namely We Three.

Anyway, long answer for a short question. Breathe is a rewriting of the first episode of SGU, which was called Air, in which Belle, at the last minutes, jumps through the 'gate and onboard Destiny. It goes slowly partly because it involves a lot of watching the show, because - aside from Belle being there, and the changes that brings - I'm trying to otherwise be canon - at least for now.

4. Do you prefer writing long or short fics?

I would love to be able to write short fics. I love them because they are one and done; I love them because they become 'finished' and are not WIPs, but...

I just can't do it - at least, not often. My mind just takes ideas and runs with them, and I end up with a WIP fic of 50 or more chapters, telling a complex story. Besides which, the kind of fic that I adore writing are book AUs. That started with The Library Beneath the Clock Tower, which you suggested to me as a Rumbelling of The Bookshop On the Corner, (Jenny Colgan), and has gone on to the next Book AU project, also suggested by you, Time's Curse, which is a Rumbelling of How To Stop Time (Matt Haig). Add to that the fact that Library has spawned two other fics in its 'verse. Technically they can stand independently, and could all three be read in any order and still make sense. They are The Pawn Shop On Main Street, and The Mansion On the Edge Of Town.

So, I guess the answer is long fics is my default preference.

SGU Week Day 3 (yeahhhhhhh, 3): Favorite Friendship

There are so many wonderful friendships in SGU, but I really love the friendship between Greer and Matt (sorry it just feels weird to call Greer "Ron" even though that's his name, idk why that is??). It's just so strong and genuine, and I love seeing healthy portrayals of masculine friendship.

I'd venture to say that they're the two most competent guys on Destiny's crew, but in my memes, they've kinda devolved into two lovable himbos who share a brain cell (but they lost it). Here are some of my favorites.

We all wish there were more episodes, right?? Here's an "episode" I made where Matt and Greer decide to capture a space bison, believing it to be a dinosaur.

Rush is there, too. He must suffer at the hands of Matt and Greer's combined energy.
