Fun facts! Bob Crane's (Col Hogan) wife was in the show, as Klink's secretary with whim Hogan flirts. John Banner, who played Sgt Schultz, was just as lovable as Schultz (but a lot brighter). He, along with Werner Klemperer (Col Klink), Robert Clary (Cpl Le Beau), and Leon Askin (Gen Burkhalter) were all Jewish. Werner Klemperer was a classical violinist, unlike the hopeless Klink. He agreed to play the role on the condition that Klink never win against the titular characters. Not fun facts: they lost family in the Holocaust, Robert Clary almost all of his, iirc.
absolutely in love with Shultz from Hogan's Heroes who routinely tells the prisoners things like "if you escape you're going to get me in a lot of trouble," and " NO monkey business, I DONT want to be transferred because of you." He literally catches them outside the fence MULTIPLE times and each time pust his rifle down and goes "what are you doing? Do you know how much trouble you're causing me??? Go back inside!" Chaotic Uncle Energy.

Almost forgot to mention the dream I had last night.
I was a POW in Stalag 13, and there were some dvds and a plastic baseball bat stashed in my bunk.
Naturally these had to remain hidden, but fortunately Sgt. Schultz saw nothing.

AFO!Izuku AU: (Izuku x Jirou) & Class 1-A in "We Know Nothing"
Class 1-A had a honed survival instinct from living with... well the rest of Class 1-A... oh, and the villains too...
So upon seeing two of their members on the couch, they did the smart thing towards survival. The turned around and pulled a Sgt. Schultz and knew nothingk! NNNNNOTHINGK!
The chaos compels.

585 The LEFT Show |
585 The LEFT Show |
It’s Monday in America, time for The World’s Greatest Political Podcast: THE LEFT SHOW! This new year, J.M. Bell has Tiffany & JC in to talk about the topics! We’re hip deep in bullshit with House Republicans this week, from Santos to McCarthy. Ginni Thomas is literally Sgt. Schultz, and Bill Cosby is heading back on the road. Greta Thunerg with all the winning, and Raskin has cancer …. All This…

She keeps saying she’s not the same as Biden and she will fix everything on day one yet given the opportunity to separate herself from Biden. I get the feeling Sgt Schultz was her favorite as a kid. “I know nothing!”

What’s your take on Sgt. Schultz? Was he really as dumb and oblivious as he appeared to be or did he, in fact, know everything that was going on with Hogan and the Heroes the whole time?
Schultz sometimes has his moments where he's not bumbling and he hasn't lost his senses - he's easy to fool because he trusts Colonel Hogan and the gang (and is bribed), but I don't think he was really that dumb. Some of the time he appeared dumb onscreen he was doing the right/smart thing (like reporting into Klink's office when he was asked to but getting yelled at for barging in).
My take is that he's aware that they're in the underground, but he's just a little too dumb to put together the pieces of their operation or how he would go about reporting it and not involving himself in the blame, plus he's getting the benefits of a German officer in Germany combined with bribes from the allies.. so he doesn't want to give that up!
