Say it with flowers

My thoughts on the SGMB live recording video.

I've had this in my drafts for months. It's one of those moments that I just can't move on from. If this has already been discussed at length I won't be surprised but just in case it hasn't....

WHO gave Jimin those flowers...?

When the SGMB recording video first dropped, i saw comments that the flowers were from Loco or from Big Hit or from the SGMB band.

I cannot agree. Did the commenters not SEE the flowers?

I believe the flowers to 'support Jimin's future endeavours' were from Jungkook.

Because of course they were.

And for those who need an explanation, here's why:

This is not a bouquet of flowers you would get from colleagues, or your management company, or even your friends. This bouquet screams PASSIONATE LOVE. It is so obvious that i can't even imagine giving a platonic friend these flowers without a lengthy explanation (or a confession), let alone a professional acquaintance.

Let's take a closer look at Jimin's bouquet:

I took the time to research all the components of the bouquet to make sure i wasn't overreacting (Me? Overreact?! Never!!)

Here they are:

Red roses - passionate love, romance, and desire - 12 of these roses if I counted correctly, which represents a declaration.

Mini red chrysanthemums - in red, the chrysanthemum means love and passion, or truth

Sacred bamboo (Nandina) - the berries represent changing hardship into good, the end of hard times, and prosperity. It also wards off evil. (7 is the leaves of the Sacred Bamboo)

More red roses - either bush roses or a smaller variety. Love, again.

Red viburnum - "To make red hot". Passionate love, Love stronger than death.

Silver Wattle - hidden feelings, hidden love. (wow)

Sacred bamboo (leaves see #3 for berries)

Difficult to identify but I think it's either Veronica or Salvia. Veronica symbolises loyalty, fidelity and love. Salvia is for protection, and red salvia means forever mine.

I think this might be pink muhly grass. It doesn't seem that common in floristry but it is a very romantic and beautiful seasonal grass in Korea.

Barley grass - time for relaxation, free time, or prosperity.

Those flowers are a grand gesture

They're a declaration of love.

Jungkook is after all the king of grand gestures...

... and he knows a thing or two about the language of flowers.

So it seems perfectly fitting for him to make his heart known with a huge bouquet.

Naturally the theme of the bouquet is very much in keeping with the theme of SGMB,

The central tenet of the song is the truth untold and, these flowers certainly tell the truth, loud and clear.

I find myself thinking about whether he chose to do it in front of a crowd of people and I actually don't think he thought too much about them. Based on what I know of JK's personality (admittedly very little, having never met the man) I believe he thought of Jimin, and Jimin only.

Did he take a gift that would not only celebrate Jimin's achievement, but also show his commitment to that love and to not hiding?

Both heart and my head say yes, that's exactly what he did.

Here's why:

Having seen AYS, we know Jimin does this parody of the SNTY choreo to tease JK. Would it have been as amusing for Jimin if JK wasn't there to see it? I doubt it, as the payoff (JK's grumbling) wouldn't happen. Where's the fun in that?

And also:

Jimin: "Can i come over for a meal?"

Loco: "We can all go together" points to someone off-screen

[Remember that Loco is friends with Jay Park, who Jungkook is also friends with]

Jimin: *looks at person off-screen* Dammit. So much for secrets

And also:

Jimin, looking to the right of the camera, which is where everyone else will be looking in a moment.

Yup, we see Loco, Pdogg, and several of the dancers repeatedly glance to the right of the camera. They seem very interested in something there, sharing their attention between Jimin and the distraction off-screen. It would seem rude if it weren't for the fact that Jimin himself is equally distracted.

And also:

Pdogg's cute head shake at this situation tells me there's more going on here than we can see.

This song remains one of my favourites. The lighthearted joy and humour that runs through the live performance, the choreo, the melody, and the lyrics is everything I want for Jimin.

I hope his happiness lasts decades, our beautiful flower boy 💛

While we're on the topic of flowers, let's recap on the meanings of the oversized flowers on the set of SGMB:

According to Korean floriography (that's the study of the symbolism of flowers)

Blue anemone - anticipation, and protection from evil

Purple aster - love triumphs

Orange lily - cheerful love (strikingly similar to JK's birth flower)

White Poeticus daffodil - connection to youthfulness and the awakening of desire, rebirth, hope (young forever?)

Butterfly - happiness and transformation

I do have a gazillion references for the floriography, which i will add.

Its such an awesome and fascinating topic. I never knew that it became not only popular, but empowering, because so many 18 century women were unable to access an education and were therefore illiterate.

The symbolic meaning attached to flowers became an important communication tool for them.

What's "Sure" for them... in the situation. But see, that can take on many meanings as well.

What to eat, how to sleep, what to do in the situation can be one explanation. Another can be to do with how do they choose to behave in the situation in front of the camera. Do they allow us to see sides of them we weren't privy to until now?

And this all coming out right after JM's Muse, and SGMB (yes JM, we get that you love someone very special and want to hold their hand...and go on trips with them and hug them and....so much more).

Watching Are You Sure?! EP 6

A reminder of how I do these reaction posts as I watch things. I just write my reactions and thoughts down literally they happen. Think more of a bullet point format. Flying to Japan on Nov 25, 2023!

Jikook being the rich bitches that they are now, do you think they had the whole plane just for them and their staff? The way they BOTH got to enjoy the window seats and the whole row to themselves for most of the trip. Genuinely wish I could fly that way 😂 it has to make that experience a little less miserable lol

Jungkooks super informal tone, the soft way he spoke, the way he placed his hand over Jimin's nape.... Topped off with talking about how their first ever trip together was to Japan, Tokyo. And that's why he wanted to come back. Excuse me 😭 the romantic in you is escaping!

JK panning down with his camera and us getting to see Jimin gripping his sweater over his tummy. Such a consistent habit! Both of them! JK randomly panning to film Jimin, and Jimin holding onto JK. They are so sweet and cute. It's giving boyfriend. I can't lie lol

They way they reminisced about their first Tokyo trip while eating their midnight snack 🥰 Jimin remembered so many details. JK just remembered being worried about Jimin's feet hurting during their long walk to Shibuya.

JK sharing how special it was for him to get a short letter from RM when he did his showcase. That was so cute!!

Them arguing over the AC with one being hot and the other cold was so relatable for me. It was like watching me and my partner 😂

They went to sleep in separate beds and woke up in front of cameras in separate beds, but you can't convince me that JK didn't end up in Jimins bed for at least part of the night. Lol his sheets are still tucked in all nicely (Jimin's aren't and JK doesn't sleep that neat from what we have seen lol) and his water bottle is moved over to Jimin's side of the nightstand too. But what do I know 🤷‍♀️😂

Has there been an episode where Jikook haven't brushed their teeth together? Lol

JK being all romantic about remember this moment of watching the snow fall together in the morning. And Jimin popping the bubble by saying they'll have to shovel so much snow in the military 😂😂

Finally arriving in Sapporo and walking through the train station seeing an adorable little girl and Jimin getting all sappy about how he would be an emotional mess as a girl dad if he ever had a daughter. JK looked both nervous and excited about that idea 🤣🥰💜

Anyone else notice they spent almost this entire episode in matching and/or coordinated outfits? Yeah, me too! How very adorable of them. It's so obvious and clear in this episode than it has been in any other. The thing I noticed most about their dynamics in this episode was the consistency in all their little sweet and cute habits together. Things they've done around each other for years and years. And they are still doing it!

JK spent the entire episode randomly filming Jimin. And he said "I love it" or "I'm so happy" over 30 times in just the one episode. Traveling with Jimin and just chilling together brings him so much joy. Everyone should rejoice in that. And Jimin spent the entire episode randomly bursting out into song, but specifically SNTY 🥰 the support!

And the way JK was filming Jimin, it's still that consistency man.

I said most of my "analysis" moments in all that stuff above, I don't really feel the need to repeat myself but if someone wants or needs clarification on my thoughts, please ask/let me know! This was a beautiful and very sweet episode. They were just purely enjoying each other's company! They were so happy together. Good food, good beer, good company, beautiful atmosphere. Ex-stream-ly Important Pep Talk

We seem to be battling streaming fatigue this week. Numbers have been dropping off significantly. So if you need some inspiration to keep going for the coming month know that at current rates on Spotify:

Who will reach 400 million within a week

Muse will reach 1 billion within two weeks

SGMB will reach 200 million and Be Mine will reach 100 million in September.

Obviously this only works if we can maintain the streaming energy of the last few weeks. It would be nice to have some good news for Jimin by the time Jimtober comes around.
