Daniel’s little dancey-dance as he says "I am a member of S-G-1 ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ" gives me life and I had to share.

Sheppard is being sarcastic, but Rodny puts a plan in place later to rescue Sheppard 48,000 years in the future. 5 minutes into this stupid episode and I'm crying.

Home in the bigger context is just so beautiful.

Up to now, the team has felt a bit fractured. We've had Teyla not being trusted, we've had Sheppard not committed to giving his life for his team, and we've had then leave a new ally behind. Then Home, The Storm, and the Eye.

I love Sheppard and Elizabeth's little back and forth about how they're not going anywhere.

Watching this in chronological order, you immediately know something is wrong because Hammond meets Elizabeth on the other side of the Stargate. He's no longer in charge of the SG-1.

Sheppard, first to notice, because Hammond is telling him how great a job he's done. (Outcast indicates that he never heard that from his Dad, and the way the Sumner and other military leaders treat him, I don't think he's heard it from his superiors.) And it makes me sad that he knows it's wrong because things are good. Atlantis and these people become home because it's the first time Sheppard is actually wanted. Elizabeth straight up told him in their little chat that she wants him to stay. They want Sheppard when no one else on Earth does.

Rodney with no messages on his answering machine made me tear up. They want Rodney on Atlantis when no one else on Earth wants him.

Hospital for souls. The ultimate Goonies.

Sheppard looks so uncomfortable starting at the shopping trip with Teyla. The first time through I thought it was just him being grumpy about girls shopping, but now it makes my stomach turn because I know he's scrambling inside trying to figure out exactly what is going on.

The pause when he sees his Johnny Cash poster. So creepy. And it finally clicked for me why he just casually flips the bottle cap across the room instead of throwing it in the trash. This isn't home. He knows it. He knows this is totally fake.

Sheppard's head is filled with dead people. 😭😭😭

I truly think this is the most important episode in Season 1. This is when Atlantis becomes home.

Sheppard has more holes in his soul, from seeing his dead friends, from seeing his empty life on earth. But he's head home, home and healing. He's going where they want him. Rodney is going where they want him. Atlantis wants them.

The Storm (S1: E9)

I love Rodney standing in front of Weir again and again. I love Sheppard going into total warrior mode.

This is just one of my favorite "fun" episodes.

The Eye (S1: E10)

S: He'll kill them to punish me.

I don't know why, but I found this line haunting. Sheppard's greatest weakness is his people. If you want to hurt him, you hurt them.

I just love these three episodes together. I love how they realize Home is Atlantis and then they fight to save her. Rodney and Sheppard and Weir really bond in this set, along with Teyla, Carson, and Ford. They've really really settled into a great team, great friends who have each other's back. Plus, Kolya makes a great villain.

Rewatching supergirl and I kinda like Maxwell Lord. Like I don’t like him cause he’s like evil or whatever but character wise he’s so interesting, I wish they brought him back. AND actually instead of Edge challenging Lena in season 3 what if it was Max??? I feel like that would be so interesting. And like what if they had a whole rivalry in season 2 cause they’re both tech people and want to be best selling or whatever and Lena just got to absolutely crush him (for woman empowerment reasons of course, definitely not because I’m a flaming homosexual and just like to see her win) and then he was bitter for like the rest of the series??? Like this man had so much potential I need him back. Like he could be the anti-hero of the series forever and I’d be eating it up. Like maybe he has a few knight in shining armor moments and then turns around and says he hates all of them while he’s actively saving their lives?? PLEASE I NEED HIM BACK. HE WAS SO SNARKY.

my life was getting so sad w/o a media to chew on (recently the shows ive been into r only for a month like on & off) so I’m literally regressing & finally watching s5 of arrow. I thought I would just obsess over laurel again (but specifically e-2 laurel) but I think it’s actually Felicity???? like you KNOW the brainrot is getting bad when you search up what media the actress has been in (I watched funny story last night & it killed me, like I usually skim just for their scenes but I watched this whole thing through) anyways it’s been a year since I last watched so my memory is super fuzzy abt the earlier seasons but I really don’t wanna rewatch from s1. From old rants I didn’t really like her in s4 at some points but I’m honestly so convinced A LOT of the hatred towards her is due to misogyny (same w Iris tbh w racism thrown in)

General thoughts on handsome Sam Arias?

Oh gosh, so many. I haven't had a chance to think about her in quite a while - thank you for this ask!

Sam was such a good addition to the cast, and it's really too bad it wasn't feasible for Odette to stay longer than one season. Sam and Alex had such a nice chemistry, too - and with Ruby right there just as Alex was starting to think about children ... sigh. I'd have loved to see them explore that more.

Post-S1, I also think Reign was arguably CWSG's best Big Bad. The duality of Reign and Sam, how formidable she was as a physical equal to Kara, her backstory and deep bond with Lena, Lena's determination to save her even in the face of Kara/SG's wrath ... oof. I wish they'd gone with the comics backstory of the Worldkillers as originally being created by Kara's father rather than the witches, but still - so much to love about Sam/Reign's story.

And I know it took some fudging at the end, but I'm GLAD they saved Handsome Sam at the end of the season, and she and Ruby got a happy ever after! If only she'd have come back earlier in S5 to talk Lena out of the mind control foolishness and remind the writers that she exists and can convince Lena and Andrea to talk too! Lmao. (Lordy, can you imagine a season with all three of them together??)

Got overwhelmed with learning how to paint crystals (Christophsis is featured in 0-2, worked out for one of the made up cities i did before even watching TCW series, what a lovley concidence!) and distracted myself by finally neatly writing down the mando charachter arc I'll be incorporating (which has been on about 10 different sheets of notebook paper up until now) based off of the background drabble of the original fic.

Again it's not exactly anything unexpected so I dont consider it a spoiler (unlike SG's filler content, which has ALOTTA baggage and reveals im still pondering if i should reveal early) but spoiler warning I guess if you think it'll change the quality of your consumption of the future releases that much:

Let me know what yall think! If it's got a logical flow of if there's any inconsistencies with the S1 Mando were dealing with for this fic. Does it SEEM like something he'd have the potential to have as an issue and navigate in the fic's context? I think yes...as m's backstory and lack of a family thereafter could be the root of such things... Anything seem too outlandish or unreasonable? These are notes, yes but I'd still be able to appreciate feedback with just this skeleton outline/timeline.

Shoutout to @thefrogdalorian for the "fierce independance born from trauma" line (from her one-shot "downpour") that stuck/resonated with me all these months brainstorming this interpretation of Din.

Can't say that @djarins-cyare didn't heavily influence my charachter analysis approach when it comes to mando so shoutout her writings are phenomenal

i think the first three boots could've been handled better tbh. Axel and Caleb got the Trent treatment of having their characters almost completely revolve around their love interests and then after episode 1 they pretty much just forgot about Nichelle save for her passing remarks about Hollywood and her spat with Julia...which in hindsight made it totally obvious she was gonna get eliminated😭let her do ANYTHING next season!

oh most definitely!! it's a shame since they introduced some substance for those three during s2—caleb's whole thing about how he works hard doing everything to be his strict parent's golden child, axel's love for the arts despite her tough exterior + her goal of wanting to be "nicer" to others, nichelle's insistence of being the best at something due to the public's negative judgement on her previous capabilities. and yet... little to nothing on those ends. just heavy relationship focus with one set person (nichelle + hollywood is unfortunately a metaphorical toxic situationship of some sort)

if there's a third season (and let's hope there is cause i can't let this show go pfft-), the writers could still work with these tiny details in mind. i mean, they did little with them, so the world is their oyster story-wise. they could easily give them at least a tiny arc diving deeper in their characters.

buttttt i fear one of them might be an early boot. most likely nichelle, since there's got to be that one character to never merge, and who better than the silly celebrity who already has money? i have (unfortunately) been a fan of this show for a good portion of my life and something i have learned is that nothing ever goes the way i want it. so i won't be surprised if that's the case 😭

i just want the reboot s1 bottom three to have some more substance... a little character development as a treat even... they deserve it </3

i'm rewatching supergirl s1 (bc i've never done that before) and it honestly boils my blood how james and kara have so many parallels to kara and lena. almost word to word conversations, scenes etc etc, the way james wanted to escape metropolis to make his own name outside his friends vs lena wanting to escape metropolis to make her own name outside her family? sg writers were such an assholes for trying to prove to us that supercorp is not a queerbaiting from s2ep1. even the cities are the same. and the fact that kara was partially the reason for both of them to move to the national city?

the blanket statement that i will say is that kara is not sg's Little Black Dress for me. that, if you couldn't tell, falls on lena luthor. her character just feels more adaptable without having to, like, manufacture Legitimate Reasons to put people in the same room. also, in a highly biased lens, she's my favorite character so she's the barbie i'd wanna have everyone play with.

back to kara: her pool is small because i think it's specifically because of the fact that kara is actually a rather Particular Character so her pool of candidates for romantic partners is small. can you make it work with any of the others, no matter how far or close they are to her canonically? yeah of course, duh. but for me, it's all about how much more work it takes for me to get there. and the reality is that it takes a lot of work for me to get there, i guess

i mean i think they fumbled that bag so i don't feel inclined to pick it back. the potential is there, but i think the larger disservice to james' character as a whole means that i now have to work twice as hard to get to where i would want for it. which is to say i don't want much of it in the first place. 2 be frank, het ships have potential and it's not like i automatically hate them but it just doesn't bring me joy im so sorry

i do think the existing friendship though works well enough for me the same way that kara/winn also works well enough for me. for all my feelings about s6, i did like their little s1 crew reunion before the SuperfriendsTM truly became what it was, i guess kara and the boys could have truly been a Unit, and for a time, it was

the way that lena doesn't know how friendships work and has slept with her three friends, kara doesn't know how friendships work with male coworkers and should not be dipping in company ink. like why is that your immediate dating pool? i know it's because your life is working 2 jobs, but maybe consider not having your one and only dating pool at work (unless of course you've shared a compelling starcrossed lovers family history, in which case, by all means that shit is delicious)

i think it's possible, if you believe in yourself enough (which i do). but i think the Effort required for it requires jumping through a few hoops. the difference between superguardian is that i'm focusing on the ladies. anyway i think their getting together literally needs lena as a connection point. first of all, they exist as canonical foils to lena; the betrayal, the reconciliation, etc etc. lena's best friends who independently broke her heart. there's solidarity there, there's camaraderie there. while lena is getting her happy ending with sam (lol), i think andrea and kara can find love due to the love they lost. the recognition across the table from each other can be fertile ground on what not to do, how not to hurt or be hurt. and i think it's a relationship that exists outside of what's traditional or typical, which i think the both of them are kind of afraid of. because i think the both of them care for that and their potential relationship would exist outside of that and people might not understand it, but they would understand each other. admittedly, one of the hiccups is the differences in their station in life. as i mentioned in the lena-version of this ask meme, lena and andrea are literally just in the freakin .05% of society and so their class status in life is so different from kara. andrea hosts galas and swanky parties and kara rents dresses. the discrepancy of 'from opposite side of the tracks' would be more apparent, which is funny because kara is decidedly middle class LMAO in any case, i also think it can still happen though, in very particular circumstances, especially if we're to focus on a version without lena. and that is actually if i put on a more serious lens to their work dynamics. i think some power imbalance exists there that feels more reasonable to overcome than kara and cat, at least for me. this is where enemies to lovers could really be something here

kara with sam, kelly, or nia - mmm idk i think it literally has to take A Very Specific Instance

for sam: i just don't believe sam would put up with kara's bullshit at all. she has a child already ya feel me? i do think there are opportunities to make this work before the reveal and rift happens. post-rift, though?god sam just doesn't seem the type to forgive on lena's behalf. so it would feel like such an insurmountable barrier to overcome. if i'm not stuck on canonical events, i do think it can happen just by virtue of their personalities. they hit similar emotional beats and function in the Supportive and Loyal departments

for nia: i'll say never say never, but i think they are better off as friends. i think platonic commitment to being friends and to be calling her out on her bullshit is the name of the game. the mentorship between kara and nia could be extended in a way that really puts her to think about her Role and Leadership seriously, both at work (catco) and at work (superheroing). the mentorship is there, but i need kara to step up a bit more, to go beyond her punch first, think later. what is the cost of being a reporter? of being a superhero? as both at the same time? nia is literally following in her footsteps, so how can she make it better for the person after her?

for kelly: i guess for me, i'd want to know who is kelly outside of kara? i think she'll also call kara out with her bullshit, but i would want the military and vigilante tension and the larger understanding of sacrifice and justice to exist as tension points. let them war about it. but otherwise, i think kara just needs more female role models.

but for a more thoughtful answer, i think for me the biggest thing here is that i just honestly love how their lives are intertwined already, simply by being collateral to the feud of their male relatives. before they knew each other, the lines have been drawn between them. come to find out that they're trying to cancel out the friction between lex and clark and be better than them? let me gobble that shit up. but also, the chemistry between them is great, even with the betrayal. to be the friend who broke lena luthor to such a degree as to seek revenge on behalf of the world? like, who else is doing it like them? they also just have chemistry and history with each other, the foundation for a relationship that, if nothing else, carve themselves in each other's souls, you know? the truth is this: it's like when one partner cheated on the other partner and they have to crawl back out of the hell they fell into to see if there's still a future with them. kara can be stubborn enough to try and go for it (as i choose to believe despite the wrong lesson she learned of washing her hands of her impact on lena) and lena, like i've established before, needs the kind of painful grit to know she's alive. that's so emo and melodramatic, but there needs to be a challenge or struggle of some sort for lena to exist. smooth sailing through and through would hurt her more than help her.

the point is that there are parallels to their lives that i think are interesting to jump off from, but i also think the dynamic of sinner against sinner, perpetrator and victim, friends to enemies to friends to lovers is so good for them

hello! so i was lucky enough to snag a ticket to the tgcf donghua s2 fan screening right here in singapore, so here's a short report on the happenings! under the read more as there will be spoilers including those from the novel

arrived at around 1:20pm and it already looked like a full house! lots of people queueing at the photobooths and stuff, LOTS of cosplayers, mainly hualian and beefleaf. after a while i asked an usher about the merch booth but it was already closed due to the long queue, so i just went to find my seat which was near the back (in front of a bunch of cosplayers haha)

the hall had at least eight screens but none were positioned in a way where i didn't have to turn/crane my neck lol i can still feel the strain

the screening itself started at about 10 minutes past 2pm! we first had some voice actor greetings first, both of shi qingxuan's voice actors seemed to have received the loudest cheers from my pov! all of them ended their greeting with 天官赐福，百无禁忌

there was also a quick announcement of another tgcf collab cafe in 2024! sg just keeps winning and winning

after that we finally started the screening with a recap of s1 starting from the cart scene all through the banyue arc. xie lian's lines were all newly voiced by his new voice actor deng youxi, and he sounded alright to me! (note: not 100% sure that he did replace jgt's voicing but that's what i remember, correct me if im wrong!)

more than an hour of s1 later, we smoothly transitioned into the first episode of s2, and the following are some highlights and points:

s2 is still based on the unrevised novel as far as i can tell

everyone loves shi qingxuan!!

ghost city is very extravagant and fun! lots of quirky ghosts, there's joss paper flying around everywhere

xl's 不举 was omitted even though it's already rated m18 lol

the part where hc teaches xl to shake the dice has a lot of hand touching and cute reactions from the ghosts and sqx and lqq

a LOT of teasing leading up to the reveal of hc's true form, they'd show part of his face, his hand, his boots, and when he stepped out from behind the curtain and xl laid eyes on him for the first time there were shoujo bubbles

also A LOT OF SCREAMING FROM THE AUDIENCE tbh it was already loud enough throughout the gambling scene it was just hilarious

frankly i couldn't see hc clearly cuz, bad seat, but we all know how he looks like anyway

idk if it's just mE but the audio of the entire screening had its pitch raised, all the songs were a key higher, everyone sounded higher-pitched...... to ward people from secretly recording it?

feels bad for fulgur cuz it feels like most of the audience didn't care about him? half of them left their seats for the photobooths during his q&a segment

quiz time was interesting......

for "what is hc's weapon?" the host accepted the answer E-Ming, as in the person who answered said cAPITAL LETTER OF THE ALPHABET E which i would personally not accept as correct but o wells

the last question was "what did hc give to xl at the end of s1?" and the lucky person who answered very precisely said "his ashes in the form of a ring" and the host went aRe YoU sUrE and tried to make us recall an oBjEcT and i think we were all second-guessing ourselves there lmao please get a host who did their homework next time

pretty sure that was a huge spoiler for donghua-only fans tho HAHA

after the event was over i hung around texting friends and then tried to see if the merch booth was available but all the nice merch was sold out, and frankly just thinking of trying the queues at the photobooths was mentally draining so i just left haha

overall it was a great experience! watching and reacting together with so many other fans is truly a rare experience and despite going solo i had fun!

excellent door gifts too, the acrylic stand is of great quality and is now set up and sitting on my mxtx shelf~
