Season 5 Lena

I've seen people say before that Lena should just get over her hurt feelings about the identity reveal and that she wasn't owed Kara's secret.

Please remember this isn't about who was right or wrong or even blame, I'm only trying to explain a possible reason Lena made Non Nocere. Not excusing it. Not blaming anyone. Just what did Lena's thought process look like? How did we reach the conclusion we are given.

I didn't view Non Nocere as her being angry that Kara was Supergirl and that there was a secret. I see her being angry for how she was treated. Supergirl treated her differently than Kara Danvers did. Kara Danvers said she would always be there for Lena. Supergirl had Lena's boyfriend spy on her.

Supergirl said Lena couldn't be trusted to do the right thing because of her family. Kara said Lena's family didn't define her. Well who is telling the truth? It's this back and forth, what do you really feel, that caused Lena to make Non Nocere. So no one else would have to go through this. Everyone would know where they stand with anyone.

Was it the right thing to do? I don't know, it's morally gray, does the end justify the means?

Should they have just talked? Yes. Why didn't they? Remember where Lena grew up, the Luthor's didn't provide the environment where discussing feelings was safe. Talking about feelings was shameful even. If someone wronged you, your response should be was to revenge. Lena posted a girl's diary in school and Lilian said she'd never been prouder.

As an adult she should know better. We learn this stuff as kids, but it takes hard work to get away from and people will stumble on the way as they learn. We aren't perfect.

Also an important thing to remember: It's fictional. It's a TV show and the writer's job is to make an interesting story and draw people in. To make money. Talking about the issue would have fixed the problem in, say, 3 episodes. But having a character stumble and make bad choices, well you can milk a whole season out of that.

Not ever thing is a person A is right and B is wrong or A is wrong and B is right. Both have flaws. Both can be wrong. Both can be right. One person maybe wrong on some stuff but right on other stuff. Life is complicated and messy.

I see so many people freaking out at the Salo scene when Viktor was suddenly speaking through him. Which surprised me at first, because it didn't weird me out in the slightest.

And then I remembered that "2 people inhabiting the same body" is *not* a totally normal thing in most shows and that I just consumed too much Stargate in my life

Samantha Badass Carter, you of aaaaaall people should know that O’Neill is terrible with emotions and talking about them. Why are you even ASKING him to talk about Daniel?

To be real for once: the Stargate franchise had problems when it came to crossover episodes, and even more so to call-backs across the franchise. And this is a prime example of the latter. But then again, Tapping had to work off a script that was initially meant for Higginson's character. When the letter suddenly got kicked out, there was no time left to re-write the script to fit Carter instead of Weir. While they did make some changes, the script was neither here nor there, and definetly not a script that did justice to the experience Samantha Carter had gathered throughout her tenure on SG-1. And it's not just 4x08 The Seer where this is glaringly obvious.

Sam, you wanna jump in here? You literally saw this happen with Jonas and Rodney's stealing your lines:

I lost my friend to cancer yesterday.

I’d really like to tell you about her.

We meet people throughout our lives who change it, in big ways and small ways, and ways we will never forget. Sara/ @dearophelia was one of those people for me.

I met her here, on tumblr, about 10 years ago. I wish I could remember what piece of writing I stumbled onto first, but she was such a gifted writer that I immediately wanted to see more. I somehow wound up following her live blog of a road trip, which was full of uproariously snarky jokes about Ohio. I had the courage to reach out and tell her how funny I thought she was, and how great her username was to this fellow Mass Effect fan who lived right down the road in Kentucky and got all the Ohio jokes.

We talked. We chatted. I introduced her to a group of people I played Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer with. She grew from a level one first-timer to a total badass who could carry a team and taught other people how to do the same thing.

And then my life fell apart.

Everything fell apart for me. Turning to my family wound up being a catastrophe, and I didn’t have local “real world” friends I could turn to.

So I texted Sara. Told her I needed somewhere to go, and asked if I could stay with her that weekend.

She texted back, “Yes.” Sent me her address, and said to ping me when I got there. She didn’t hesitate. She didn’t ask why. She just gave me shelter. So I showed up on her doorstep, and she listened while I told her everything. She didn’t judge me. She didn’t think I was insane. She had every right to think both things. Instead, she gave me safe harbor at a time when I had no control over my life and didn’t know what was going to happen to me.

For the next several months, I made frequent trips up I-75 to Ohio. She kept an air mattress out for me. We played multiplayer. We talked about Mass Effect. We talked about life. We bitched about all the people who hated on one of our favorite characters. She introduced me to Babylon 5. I have so many memories of sitting on the couch in her apartment, with her cat Odo crawling around behind my head. When I eventually pieced myself together enough to leave Kentucky and start the work of starting over, it meant leaving behind that sanctuary with her in her apartment, and it was something I had to grieve along with everything else.

And now I am grieving it again, and so much more. I am so lucky I was able to fly back to Ohio a few weeks ago while I had the chance. Hugging someone goodbye, knowing it’s the last hug you’re going to get….well, it sucks.

But I got that hug.

Sara was so many things. She was a gifted storyteller with entire worlds in her head. One of the weekends I stayed with her, she had recreated the Mass Effect galaxy map on her wall with notecards and string to help her tell a story. She could create a character and make you fall in love with them in a matter of sentences. Because of her stories, I binge watched all ten seasons of Stargate SG-1.

She was also not afraid to unapologetically be herself. I had a lot of things to learn and unlearn about the world, feminism, gender, and sexuality, especially in those days. Listening to her fight for her space in the world and refuse to be told she was anything less than who she wanted to be helped me learn some of the things I needed to learn, and embrace the things I discovered about myself.   

She loved music. She made the best fucking playlists. She taped inspirational notes around her condo. She sent me a set of coasters that say, “Fuck It,” and “Nah,” and I use them every single day. Her smile was gorgeous. She lit up a room.  

And now she’s gone. I won’t see her in my tumblr notes anymore. I won’t see her on my dash. I won’t get pinged with new Odo photos. She won’t get to hear the new music I listen to that shows up in our Spotify blend. I won’t get to talk about the next Mass Effect game with her. I won’t get any more Ao3 updates in my inbox.

I wanted you to know about her – this pocket friend of mine who impacted my life in ways that I won’t ever forget.

I hope you will read her stories. Listen to her playlists. She was a brilliant human being. She should still be here. She isn’t.

And I miss her.

Overall thoughts: Stargate Atlantis is truly one of the best shows I've ever watched. Yes it has its shortcomings, but for how old it is, WOW. This show came out along side Stargate: SG-1 towards the end of its run and in my opinion, excelled in the areas SG-1 lacked. The CGI isn't perfect but the practical effects more than make up for it, I miss when shows prioritized practical effects. The characters are also just so so amazing, every single one of the main cast and honestly like all the side characters I can think of, are so well made. They all feel real and dimensional and their dynamics too. My only gripe is that it got cancelled, don't be put off by this though, the ending is incredible and very satisfying considering it was supposed to have at least one more season. If you like sci-fi, please consider giving this show a shot.

Does any Space Goofs Fan know about "Pet Alien"?

It's Another Franchise about Goofy Little Colorful Aliens Stuck that also get stuck on Earth where they live in a Small Town inhabited by Humans.

Not a big surprise to anyone who watches a Story about Extraterrestrials who crash on Earth but these Two are way Similar than you may think.

Reasons as to why that Space Goofs & Pet Alien are very close to each other compare to One Another Alien Franchise is...

1. Both have Similar Alien Designs & Features.

2. Both have a Show that starred 5 Aliens crashing on Earth by Accident.

3. Both have Said Groups of Said Aliens trying to live among Humans while also learning about Earth's Knowledge in order to get learn more about the Human Race.

4. Both Groups of their own Characters have Different Dynamics with Each Other.

5. Both have a Secret Story behind Them about Other People that being the Government trying to find where the Aliens are before they could get easily captured by Humans (most likely in SG's case, "Stupid Invaders" & in PA's pilot, "The Most Special Place").

6. Both have a Child Character who is both their Caretaker & their Guardian (The Blue-Haired Girl from the Cancelled Stupid Invaders Movie (whom I HC that her Name is "Ambre Lou Astrean" or just simply "Lou") & Tommy Cadle).

7. Not only do they have a Child Character as their own Deuteragonist, but they also have Other Human Characters as Supporting/Minor Characters in said franchises (SG has Saccharin, Igor, & Bolok as their Antagonists while PA has More Kids (like Gabby, Melba, Granville, Clinton) and even a Human Adult like Spangley as Supporting Characters).

8. Both said Franchises have the Aliens get into some Wacky Situations (including with the Humans or Other Non-Human Characters).

9. Both are also made in the 90s as their TV Shows are also Foreign Cartoons made in France.

10. Both lasted in 2 Seasons

11. Both also have Video Game Adaptations.

But also, here's a surprising coincidence...One of the Voice Actors voices BOTH Green Small Aliens in both Said Shows (Charlie Adler, who not only voices Candy, but also voices Dinko as well!).

So yeah, here we have is Our Two Groups of Five Aliens (Space Goofs; Stereo, Gorgious, Candy, Bud, & Etno/Pet Alien; Swanky, Gumpers, Dinko, Scruffy, & Flip) with their Human Child Guardians (Ambre-Lou & Tommy) meeting each other from the very first time.

This is most likely inspired by the Old Pics of these Two Franchises together as I'd figure why not try to bring this up again since Space Goofs is somehow relevant again thanks to its Video Game adaptation.
