For the ask game! Post from Museum Muse, and maybe also Sincere from any WIPs, if you're willing to give me two snippets
Charliiiiiieeeeeeee. Hai friend.
See the prompt here.
Post: From Museum Muse
“Keep us posted.” The car slows to a stop, pulling in among a collection of SFO vehicles.
Sincere: Doesn't show up in any of my WIPs yet, weirdly enough. Surprising, given my penchance for earnest OC's.
The words I'm finding I'm lacking make me laugh because you'd think I'd have used them by now!

Flying West (No. 6)
San Francisco and the surrounding San Francisco Bay Area are a global center of economic activity and the arts and sciences, spurred by leading universities, high-tech, healthcare, finance, insurance, real estate, and professional services sectors. As of 2020, the metropolitan area, with 6.7 million residents, ranked 5th by GDP ($874 billion) and 2nd by GDP per capita ($131,082) across the OECD countries, ahead of global cities like Paris, London, and Singapore. San Francisco anchors the 13th most populous metropolitan statistical area in the United States with 4.6 million residents, and the fourth-largest by aggregate income and economic output, with a GDP of $729 billion in 2022. The wider San Jose–San Francisco–Oakland Combined Statistical Area is the nation's fifth-most populous, with around nine million residents, and the third-largest by economic output, with a GDP of $1.32 trillion in 2022. In the same year, San Francisco proper had a GDP of $252.2 billion, and a GDP per capita of $312,000. San Francisco was ranked fifth in the world and second in the United States on the Global Financial Centres Index as of September 2023. Despite a continuing exodus of businesses from the downtown area of San Francisco,[43][44] the city is still home to numerous companies inside and outside of technology, including Salesforce, Uber, Airbnb, X Corp., Levi's, Gap, Dropbox, and Lyft.
In 2022, San Francisco had more than 1.7 million international visitors – the fifth-most visited city from abroad in the United States after New York City, Miami, Orlando, and Los Angeles – and approximately 20 million domestic visitors for a total of 21.9 million visitors. The city is known for its steep rolling hills and eclectic mix of architecture across varied neighborhoods, as well as its cooling summers, fog, and notable landmarks, including the Golden Gate Bridge, cable cars, and Alcatraz, along with the Chinatown and Mission districts. The city is home to a number of educational and cultural institutions, such as the University of California, San Francisco, the University of San Francisco, San Francisco State University, the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, the de Young Museum, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the San Francisco Symphony, the San Francisco Ballet, the San Francisco Opera, the SFJAZZ Center, and the California Academy of Sciences. Two major league sports teams, the San Francisco Giants and the Golden State Warriors, play their home games within San Francisco proper. San Francisco International Airport (SFO) offers flights to over 125 destinations while a light rail and bus network, in tandem with the BART and Caltrain systems, connects nearly every part of San Francisco with the wider region.

Day 435 art meditation, October 22, “Blue Tree Ring” Heart Art
Dear You,
I’m not really sure why I say I love writing, when most of the time it’s so painful. I’ve worked on this for two weeks now and I’m still editing. At some point it’s going to say it’s finished, because I want to hold myself accountable for my art-video-essay which I wanted to get done back in July. O goodie, another painful creative project. I would so much rather just make art. Putting words to my art (and heart) is nearly an impossible task … I never know if I’m getting through to your hearts.
Feeling (and thinking) into my new blue-themed Tree Ring art, for my current art drop, to start the week. Which was supposed to be yesterday. And it might be tomorrow.
My intention is to disrupt some ego-spaces.
That’s the best role of the Heart, to be a disruptor.
After a disruption, a heart-spaces can emerge.
Always.
Title, “Stop self sabotaging, VOTE BLUE, Tree Ring Heart Art”.
This is a reflection of me: how I self sabotage my own heart-space, by quitting for short periods of time and hiding. The one thing I’ve gotten better with is surrounding myself with people who are really good for me.
I want my art to show the turbulence of lines between the two inner spaces: heart and ego. The process of becoming more aware of heart-space is not an easy ride, because the lines are always touching, it makes it that much harder to decipher which is which. The blue heart is barely visible. It’s blue because it IS blue (not fun), and it’s blue because voting blue this year is a way to grow our heart-spaces, as imperfect a ride heart-space-growing is.
I once thought “living from the heart” was moving back to San Francisco for the second time, because I love the Bay Area.
I had my eyes on the outdoor art, the sun, the skies, the creative cooking, the art museums and the crisp cool air 365 days a year, all of which just does something good to my whole being … Also I love this intentional creation of combining urban & mother nature - the SFO airport is planted up with Fir and Olive Trees to offset the carbon footprint. Or the Botanical gardens on the top of the Transbay bus terminal, where the artist Ned Kahn designed a “bus fountain” so that the movement of the buses below trigger the fountains to water the entire rooftop garden. All inspiring innovations coming out of mind and heart.
“I” - my ego-space - wanted what I love in my external world, and thought that would be my whole life.
Apparently God, the Universe, wanted me to go deeper.
Door Dashing this last year has NOT been fulfilling, and YET, I have never been happier.
I have never been happier!
This is the thing about choosing what to focus on and what to build, heart-space or ego-space. I’m not saying it’s easy, but that’s another thing, our ego-spaces always want the easier route. MINE DOES TOO! :)
Moving back to the Bay Area showed me how to trust myself in a way that nothing else, and no one else could have taught me.
So how do I do it more? By continuing the art meditations, and heart-art-brand bundles.
This is what I mean about our heart-spaces - there is always MORE to each of us. It’s not one thing, like one piece of art, or moving to the city you love.
It took me dragging and kicking to build out my voice of All-lines -
That’s my own self-sabotage.
I would rather trust other people - even people who are bad for me - than trust my own voice.
It takes an enormous amount of energy to NOT self sabotage and bring out the messages of what I know to be true, deep in my heart.
Everything in our lives is an Expression and part of human growth. There is no human who is not growing. I remember my adulthood years filled with anger as I was trying to become more me for the first time. It’s a good stage of life, which is why I have such hope for all the angry people out there …
As any parent, I wish you would just be happy, but maybe my role as a childless 56 year old woman is to worry about humanity like my parents worry about me.
I know we are constantly testing the difference between heart-power and ego-power, even if we don’t know we are doing this. Also, we have more PRACTICE with our egos. (There are so many role models!)
Ego-power is a constant struggle.
Heart-power feels like a relief.
Once we start following the joy and beauty, new creative solutions can come up. Not always perfect solutions, because humans will always have both ego-spaces and heart-spaces, but wouldn’t it be amazing if we could build up our beautiful Heart-spaces more?
Once and for all ?
This election is a deciding moment.
Anything another other than voting Blue at this point in time is self-sabotage.
Will we go into the direction of everything the Ego loves? (Centuries of the same stuff that isn’t creating relief for us.)
Or will we lean into our Hearts, and learn how to trust ourselves more …
Learn how to trust each other more …
Learn how to trust that new beautiful ideas will emerge …
Heart-strength has come such a long way …
Voting blue allows us to drop all the negative thinking and make room for millions of more layers of heart spaces …
You just have to believe in yourself and your Heart.
With lots of love,
Anne

Day 2 and 3 - 10th and 11th October 2009 in Kyiv - not the original post. Written in October 2014
Please note, some of the links are a bit old. This was written in October 2014, as opposed to October 2009.
Sorry this post is long, but it means a lot to me. Five years ago today, I went on possibly the longest airline flight since November 2003 when I flew directly from SFO to Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok airport on Lantau/Tung Chung. It was DFW to IAD (Washington Dulles), then to DME (Moscow Domodedovo), and finally to KIE (Kiev Borispol) on S7 Airlines. It beat the time it took flying directly from SFO to Hong Kong. I did not get to Kiev until about 7 PM local time. Were there direct flights from the USA to Kiev in October 2009? I was using some miles that time from an undisclosed major US air carrier, so that would not have been an option anyway. What did I have for supper? I went to a Czech restaurant near the US Consulate, had a pork chop with dumplings and gravy, and Staropramen beer plus a bottle of pasteurized non-alcoholic Kvass that I bought at an "outdoor 7 Eleven". Those outdoor 7 Elevens are as common as McDonald's, one of Kiev's greatest conveniences, plus the bus ticket sales and marshrutka cash-only minibuses. For the metro you have to go to a station to get the turquoise tokens for two hryvnias, approx $0.23 US apiece, good for one entry and "unlimited transfers" until you go up the escalator to the exit, and after that? Too bad, use another token to re-enter, comrade!— in Kyiv, Ukraine.Lots of cool stuff to see in Kiev. Saturday 10th I went on the Lonely Planet Guide walking tour, saw the parliament building and presidential building, the park where dozens and dozens of wedding photo parties going on, one with a Chrysler 300C limo. Then St. Michael's, St. Sophia's and St. Volodymyr's. Watch out for the "turkey droppers" who try to scam tourists with cash they drop. I don't fall for that nonsense. Sunday 11th I went to the Lavra, it's a complex of Orthodox chapels, south of downtown Kiev. I also went into the military museum about a mile away, had Indian for lunch - that place just stuck out but I had to try it anyway. Monday the 12th I went to the Chernobyl museum, much safer than the actual site itself - I bet most of you cannot remember the incident in 1986, one of the Soviet Union's most embarrassing moments, it's too depressing to describe, won't go on unless you really want to know. Had lunch at the Garbuzyk, had the best authentic Chicken Kiev. Visited the big complex way south of downtown Kiev, with about fifty different architectural styles seen across the Ukraine. For food, I recommend the Original "Bierstube" http://www.lonelyplanet.com/.../entertain.../other/bierstube for their excellent Stroganoff as well as "Viola's" http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CCYQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.lonelyplanet.com%2Fukraine%2Fkyiv%2Fentertainment-nightlife%2Fother%2Fviolas-bierstube&ei=sgg2VNWoNcGTyASa94DICA&usg=AFQjCNE9LTTofE_d3Kv0IIHTDwyZs6U_Kw&sig2=117lapTNVhSNjwUOewpSHg&bvm=bv.76943099,d.aWw, also "Shalena Mama" http://www.lonelyplanet.com/.../res.../european/shalena-mama. For breakfast, I recommend "Double Coffee", they make excellent egg and meat dishes. Lots of other good places are at Maidan Nezhaleznosti / Kreshchatyk.
Four days later, namely Tuesday the 13th I would take a long train ride from Kiev to Minsk via Korosten. Had an interesting adventure in a town that seemed to still be stuck in the Soviet times, ending up ordering pizza and hot tea. Hot tea with pizza? When it's raining cats and dogs in the Ukraine, and it's in the upper 40's, Coke, Pepsi and beer might not be the best thing to have. Soviet coffee has not really improved since I first visited July/August 1990. Also it's hard getting long-distance train tickets in the former Soviet Union, even in 2009, regardless of one's fluency in Russian. Despite computers, they did not have an online booking function with either Ukraine or Belarus. No such thing as a Eurail pass for that part of Europe. Your basic choices are "Platskartniy" or "Kupeniyi" classes. Platskartniy is sort of open seating and you might have to share an open compartment with a "babushka" Kupeniy class is the traditional four berth compartment, meals are included, tea is cheap by the glass. I ended up in Minsk, about Wednesday the 14th at 5:30 AM local time. McDonalds was open but they were serving lunch for breakfast. Photos from that time available on request - including the mug of mustard from the Bierstube! The Fitness Studio boat doesn't come for another week at least.

This is one of the first posters acquired for the museum's permanent collection. American Overseas Airlines (A.O.A.) was started as American Export Airlines in 1937. In 1945, the airline was purchased by American Airlines and renamed American Overseas Airlines. A.O.A. was awarded routes to England, Iceland, Ireland, and other destinations in Europe and produced posters like this one in 1948 to promote those routes. On September 25, 1950, Pan American World Airways acquired A.O.A. from American Airlines. Once acquired, PAA obtained all of A.O.A. routes and assets including eight Boeing 377 Stratocruisers, seven Constellations, three DC-4s, and one DC-3.

Dr. Mary Travelbest - San Francisco Airport 1
In this episode:
FAQ: What questions should you ask someone you know who traveled somewhere you like?
Destination: San Francisco Airport "Wings and Wanderlust: Solo Female Traveler's Guide to SFO"
Today’s Mistake- I left my phone on the airline counter at the SFO airport.
Travel Advice:  Relax in the Airport Yoga Room, if in SFO anyway….
FAQ: What questions should you ask someone you know who traveled somewhere you like?
   Answers 1 or 2
  1. Ask the right questions if you want to get good responses to your questions about others' travels. Instead of “How was it?” ask something new and unique.
“Would you like to revisit those places or any other part of the country?" would be an excellent question.
OR
2. If you could only re-live five minutes of the trip, which 5 minutes would it be?
https://thewanderbug.com/how-was-it-10-better-questions-to-ask-a-traveller/
Today’s destination: San Francisco Airport
I began my around-the-world journey at the San Francisco airport, SFO, which was the first stop on my journey. I’ve been a fan of this airport for many years, as it has been the gateway to Asian countries I have visited for many years.
You can fly to 130 destinations on 50 airlines from SFO.
It’s always been welcoming from the minute that I landed. There’s just something special about it. Maybe it’s the excitement of being in San Francisco, one of the most visited cities in the world. There’s so much to see and do here. It’s also effortless to get to and from the airport via BART. I’ve flown there many times for domestic flights, too. Often, my flights take off at night, so I’ve been able to enjoy an extra day in and around the area of Northern California and then can sleep on the plane. Traveling west is more manageable due to jetlag than going east.
When in the airport, I always look to explore the Art Exhibits: SFO has a renowned art collection scattered throughout its terminals. Take a stroll to admire various sculptures, paintings, and installations. You may find one on history, even if it’s just of the SFO airport itself. Check the show notes for links to the current and upcoming exhibits.
https://www.sfomuseum.org/exhibitions
https://www.sfomuseum.org/exhibitions/upcoming
I like to visit the SFO Aviation Museum and Library at the International Terminal, which features fascinating aviation history and cultural exhibits, such as early pilots and planes. If you are a solo female, you can browse here without feeling alone and explore flight history.
Enjoy a Meal or Snack: SFO has the spectrum, from casual cafes to fine dining establishments. Since you should arrive at least 3 hours before an international flight and 2 hours before a domestic flight, you will be likely to find time to eat something while here.
If you need to take a nap, there’s a place to do that, or shower, or just freshen up, for a fee.
https://www.airporttravelagency.org/freshen-up/
Shop for Souvenirs: Browse the shops and boutiques at SFO to pick up some last-minute souvenirs or gifts for loved ones. I especially like walking in airport bookstores and the magazine sections of convenience stores.
Take in the Views of the airport: Find a comfortable spot near a big glass window to enjoy panoramic views of the airport runways and the surrounding landscape. I also enjoy people-watching. It’s a place to see all kinds of reunions, babies, and seniors who need or give a smile.
Get Pampered at the SFO Spa: Treat yourself to a spa or massage at one of the airport's wellness centers. Relax and rejuvenate before continuing your journey.
https://www.flysfo.com/passengers/travel-tips
Read or Relax in a Lounge: If you can access airport lounges through your airline or a membership program, enjoy comfortable seating, complimentary snacks, and Wi-Fi access. It's an excellent way to unwind in a quiet environment.
Stay Connected: SFO provides free Wi-Fi throughout the airport, allowing travelers to stay connected with family and friends or catch up on emails, social media, movies, or TV shows.
Stay Active: Take a walk around the terminal to stretch your legs and get some exercise. SFO's terminals are spacious, with plenty of walking paths and seating areas to explore.
https://www.flysfo.com/faqs
Today’s Mistake- I left my phone on the counter in SFO.
I was on my way around the world and left my phone on the airline counter after my first flight. Was that ever a scary moment!  Don’t do what I did. Hold your phone all the time, or tie a string to it!
Today’s Travel Advice-Yoga for travelers in SFO
Solo travelers can Relax in the Yoga Rooms: SFO offers designated yoga rooms in multiple terminals where travelers can unwind, stretch, and find inner peace before or after their flights. It's a perfect spot for relaxation and meditation. Sunday to Saturday, it’s open from 4 am to 11 pm and free of charge in terminals 2 and 3.

Millbrae, CA (No. 5)
In 1989, a master plan and Environmental Impact Report were prepared to guide development over the next two decades. During the boom of the 1990s and the dot-com boom SFO became the sixth busiest airport in the world, but since 2001, when the boom ended, SFO has fallen out of the top 20. United Express turboprops were scheduled 60 minutes apart to the shuttle connecting passengers between SFO and nearby San Jose International Airport during the boom era. United Groundlink supplemented this service with alternate 60-minute frequencies.
A $2.4 billion International Terminal Complex opened in December 2000, replacing Terminal 2 (known then as the International Terminal). The new International Terminal includes the San Francisco Airport Commission Aviation Museum and Library and the Louis A. Turpen Aviation Museum, as part of the SFO Museum. SFO's long-running museum exhibition program, now called SFO Museum, won unprecedented accreditation by the American Alliance of Museums in 1999.
SFO experiences delays (known as flow control) in overcast weather when only two of the airport's four runways can be used at a time because the centerlines of the parallel runway sets (01R/01L and 28R/28L) are only 750 feet (230 m) apart. Airport planners advanced proposals that would extend the airport's runways by adding up to 2 square miles (1,300 acres; 520 ha) of fill to San Francisco Bay and increase their separation by up to 4,300 feet (1,300 m) in 1998 to accommodate arrivals and departures during periods of low visibility. Other proposals included three floating runways, each approximately 12,000 feet (3,700 m) long and 1,000 feet (300 m) wide.[49] The airport would be required by law to restore Bay land elsewhere in the Bay Area to offset the fill. One mitigation proposal would have the airport purchase and restore the 29,000 acres (12,000 ha) of South Bay wetlands owned by Cargill Salt to compensate for the new fill. These expansion proposals met resistance from environmental groups, including the Sierra Club, fearing damage to the habitat of animals near the airport, recreational degradation (such as windsurfing) and bay water quality.
