On the King’s Cross train station on your very first day, you almost missed the train because your dad absolutely wanted to take the best pic of his precious kid going to the mythic Hogwarts school. So you ended up in an almost empty compartment. The other compartments around were full and there was just this boy alone.
“Hey, can I sit here?” You probably startled him because he looked up at you with wild eyes but instantly smiled at your sight.
“Yeah, sure.”
“What are you doing all alone?” you asked as you sat in front of him.
He shrugged. “Looking at my chocolate frog cards collection.”
“Wow, nice. Can I see?”
He handed them to you, “Yes, of course. I’m Jisung by the way.”
“I’m Y/N.”
Since that day, you were inseparable and soon became partners-in-crime. Being put in different houses didn’t stop you.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿ฺ
After learning Alohomora in charms class, you wandered in the castle to find a forbidden office to open and what better one than the caretaker’s where a whole lot of interesting things were stored?
There, you found a few dungbombs that Jisung instantly took, confiscated brooms and chains. A lot of perfectly polished chains hung on the walls.
“I understand why he doesn’t stay here often,” you snorted and returned to your inspection. In a dusty cabinet named ‘Confiscated and Highly Dangerous’, you found an old piece of blank parchment. It was mysteriously well conserved taking into account where it was so you put it in your pocket. Further inspection will be done to know how a simple parchment could be ‘highly dangerous’.
“I’m kinda disappointed. Sure we’ll use the dungbombs wisely but I thought there were more interesting treasures.”
“Don’t be so down yet Ji, I found a mystery to resolve. Let’s go before we get caught.”
Fortunately, you didn’t get caught. You both went to your common room, being a quiet place with almost no students at this hour. You showed Jisung the parchment and counted on his intelligence and logic to figure out how it worked. After a few minutes, he looked up at you and smirked.
“I feel like it’s in good hands now.”
You raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean?”
Instead of answering, he put his wand out of his pocket and pointed it to the parchment.
“I solemnly swear that I am up to no good,” he simply said. You were going to question him when the parchment caught your eye. Ink was spreading on the paper and soon you could read:
“Messrs Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs, Purveyors of Aids to Magical Mischief-Makers are proud to present…”
“The Marauder’s Map,” Jisung whispered with stars in his eyes.
“What is this? Open it!”
Jisung did as told and both of you were dumbfounded by what you discovered. A map of the whole school, including the secret passages that are hidden within its walls and the location of every person in the grounds, portrayed by a dot. This map, a true masterpiece, within your hands was a disaster for everyone else.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿ฺ
Three years later, you knew everything you could possibly have learned about the school. Neither Ravenclaw or Slytherin could win the house cup as long as you both were in Hogwarts. No matter the amount of effort Seungmin, Changbin and Minho would make to earn points, they could never make up for your wickedness. You did earn points sometimes in classes when you answered correctly to a teacher’s question and you weren’t the only one to lose points either so you didn’t feel so bad. You did lose more points than you earned but shhh. Let's not talk about that.
One day, on your way to the lake after lunch, Gryffindor Jaemin called your name so you stopped in your tracks and waited for him to join you.
“Hey, Y/N, I was wondering if you would like to study with me after class? For transfiguration.”
Uh. Jaemin has never been your friend and the most he ever said to you before now was “Get out of my way, filthy Slytherin.” the second day of your first year. Therefore you were startled, to say the least. Plus you wanted to study with Jisung, not some acquaintance you never talked to and weren’t interested in.
“Not really, I already have plans for tonight. Thank you for the offer though.”
You tried to sound as nice as you could but without much convection and left before he could reply. A few meters away, Jisung saw the whole scene and wondered what you had told him because he looked displeased. He joined you and you smiled at him before intertwining fingers.
The next day, Jisung and you were sunbathing with a nice autumn breeze on a bench in the courtyard when someone came in front of you, preventing the sun from warming your face. You opened your eyes and were met with Jaemin and a few of his friends.
“Can you move please?” you politely demanded, since you didn’t want to start anything.
“Are you dating him?” he asked, pointing at your best friend.
“No?”
“Then why did you reject my date proposal?”
Oh my god. Really? You were going to put him in place but Jisung’s mocking laugh stopped you.
“Really dude? You want to do this here?”
“I don’t think you’re in the conversation.” Jaemin’s glare didn’t please you.
“Should’ve asked to talk to Y/N in person then instead of creating unnecessary drama.”
Jaemin looked like he was going to throw hands so you spoke before it went too far.
“Guys, let’s stay civil here. I rejected you cause I’m not interested in you, there's no other motive. Now can you let us be?” His friends laughed at him and you could swear you heard one of them say something about a bet.
“Wait, asking Y/N out on a date was a bet?”
“And what about it?” Jaemin said cockily. Jisung was fuming and you were disgusted by the boy.
“Can’t you respect people? No one deserves to be a bet’s victim. You guys suck.”
He scoffed. “I’m sure you’re the type of guy who hides when it comes to fight.”
“Try me.” You knew by his glare that he wasn’t playing anymore. Jaemin was smirking but not for long.
“Let’s duel.”
Jisung was so fast to put his wand out, it surprised Jaemin. You tried to stop them but it was useless because their pride was at stake.
Before you could blink, Jaemin ended up mouthless and you heard a woman screaming but you didn’t listen, being amazed by the spell’s effect. Jisung took your hand and ran through the corridors, hearing the professor yelling she would remove twenty points from his house.
You managed to catch your breath while Jisung was answering an easy riddle —for him— to enter the Ravenclaw common room.
“I can’t believe you really did it.”
“He challenged me! You know I can’t say no to that,” Jisung sighed.
“I know. That was brilliant, by the way.” You sat on one of the comfortable chairs like you lived there —it wasn’t totally false— and you were followed by your partner-in-crime.
“Thanks! I practiced this one a lot, I couldn’t wait to use it for real.”
“I hope you didn’t do anything foolish,” said a voice behind you.
“Oh, Seungmin! I didn’t see you there.” Jisung turned around and smiled. Seungmin was reading a book in a blue armchair. He closed it and gave his attention to his friends. “I hope you’re not hoping too hard.”
“How much?”
“What do you mean?” Jisung’s innocent act didn’t work since the second time he used it but he was still trying three years later.
“Twenty,” you answered. Seungmin gave Jisung a look and he shrugged.
“It was fun and I don’t regret it.” He folded his arms and pouted like a grounded kid.
“Of course you don’t,” Seungmin loudly exhaled.
“You’ll make it up for it, won’t you?”
Seungmin sighed deeply. He felt like he had to work twice as hard to win back the points Jisung made their house lose but it was never enough. “I always do, but don’t you think you should calm down a bit?”
“Absolutely not. There’s still a lot of rules Y/N and I haven't broken yet, so many adventures and exciting moments to live.” Jisung smiled widely at you while Seungmin implored you with his eyes to stop him. Your gaze went from one to another without really knowing what to say and before you could, someone sat next to Jisung and typed on the table.
“What mischief are you going to commit today pals?” It was Chani, one of the chasers of the Ravenclaw Quidditch team and a fellow 4th year.
“Hey Chani! Already done, Jaemin asked for a duel and I used Oscausi on him.”
“Oh I don’t know th-” Chani started.
“OSCAUSI? Jisung, are you crazy?” Seungmin got up so fast he startled everyone, including others around him.
“Don’t worry, he got his mouth back,” Jisung waved his hand with indifference, Jaemin deserved it after all. “Eventually.”
“You’re going to be the death of me, really.” Jisung and Chani just laughed at that and Jaemin unofficially became your target for a lot of future mischief.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿
“I haven’t lost any points in days, maybe I should start to pay attention in arithmancy class.”
It was this time of the year where the air was so cold you just stayed in your or Jisung’s common room and studied to prevent boredom.
Jisung pulled his robe hood over his head and gently slapped you in the back of the head. “Transfigure this quill into a rat and put it onto Jaemin’s head.”
“I mean, yeah, that’s a funnier idea.”
You lost ten points for it but you found it so fun you were back on track until the next cold day.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿
You always loved the Ravenclaw common room. You didn’t dislike the Slytherin one, but it was cold and unfriendly when you weren’t a Slytherin yourself. Plus you loved warm places. What you liked the most about the Ravenclaw common room was the domed ceiling painted with stars. You could literally watch it for hours until having to go to your own dorm to sleep. If you weren’t friends with Jisung, you probably would never have been able to lose yourself in the stars because you weren’t that close with Seungmin or Chani and you didn’t really know any other Ravenclaws.
You were currently lying down on one of the couches, your head on Jisung’s lap, helping each other revise (yes, it happens!) for the history of magic test about the goblin rebellions you would have the next day, more concentrated on the stars than the subject. It was calming and it helped you stress less about the tests.
“Where’s Muffin?” you asked out of nowhere.
It made Jisung flinch but when didn't he? Just like she knew her name, she appeared next to you, purring loudly. You put her on your belly and patted her head lovingly.
“Don’t forget she’s my cat,” whined Jisung as he closed his book and put it on the coffee table next to the couch.
You smirked. “Don’t be jealous cause she loves me more.”
The elegant Siberian cat got up and rubbed herself against your best friend’s chest, waving her tail on your face.
“You were saying?”
You rolled your eyes and opened your transfiguration book which was on the floor. It was going to be a long night and you’ll probably have to go back to your dorm after curfew. Bless the marauder’s map in those moments.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿
The Quidditch match between Ravenclaw and Slytherin was coming up and Jisung had to practice more than usual as the seeker. He was going to play against Changbin after all. They both were really good so you wondered who would win the match. Gryffindor had won the first match against Slytherin and Ravenclaw won the one against Hufflepuff thanks to Jisung’s agility and speed.
You always followed Jisung at his training, it was the only moments he wasn’t trying to break the rules. He was pretty serious about Quidditch actually, even if after each training since your 3rd year, you went to drink a mug of butterbeer at the Three Broomsticks with Chani. It was like tradition.
The day of the match, you cheered on your team and your friends, so basically both teams. The competitive mindset of the two seekers could be felt from afar, everybody knew the match was going to be intense. At the end, the score was 350-200 for Slytherin, because Yugyeom, one of the Slytherin beaters, sent a bludger on Jisung’s broom, causing him to spin around and allowing Changbin to catch the golden snitch. It was a good game and Jisung didn’t fall so it was a double win.
Of course you would say that cause you're a Slytherin.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿
Ravenclaws shared the defence against the dark arts class with Slytherins so, naturally, Jisung and you were seated together.
“Hello everyone! Today’s lesson is about acromentulas.” As the professor proceeded with his lecture, you felt your strong partner-in-crime shiver in his seat. You looked at him and were surprised by how much he looked terrified of acromentulas, not that you could blame him, these giant spiders were scary as hell.
“You okay there, bro?” He didn’t answer and was so pale you thought he was going to faint. You tried to comfort him but he was frozen.
The professor, not giving a care about what was happening in front of his face, decided to show some photos of acromentulas and as if it didn’t trigger Jisung enough, he eventually showed a real one in a big cage. From what you’ve seen in your books, it was nearly a teen so it wasn’t that big compared to his adult size but it was still big enough to scare the hell out of Jisung. He literally fell off his chair and the sound made the professor pay attention.
“Jisung? What happened?”
“He’s really scared of acromentulas, sir. Can you please put it away?”
“Oh. Yes, of course.”
While the professor finally put it away, you helped Jisung sit back.
“You okay?”
“Not really. That shit’s so grim.”
“I know, take deep breaths. It’s gone, everything’s alright.”
His breathing was unsteady for a few moments but he quickly got his composure back.
“I’m sorry Jisung, didn’t mean to frighten you. Class’ dismissed. Except you, Jisung.”
Everyone left except Seungmin, who checked on his friend, Jisung and you.
The professor went to his office and came back with chocolate.
“Here, eat this, you’ll feel better. I didn’t know it was this horrifying for you.”
He accepted the chocolate and ate it slowly. “It’s okay, you couldn’t know. Arachnophobia isn’t cool.”
“I won’t show any spider in this class from now on, I promise.”
“Thank you sir.”
“You can go now, drink water and rest.”
As you left class, Jisung whispered in your ear. “I don’t need water, I need a good butterbeer.”
You both chuckled and, after saying bye to Seungmin who certainly left to go to the library to do his homework, went to the Three Broomsticks using the secret passage beneath the one-eyed statue by the stairs of your last class to drink one or two mugs of butterbeer.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿
Two months before the end of the year, Jisung had the baddest yet boldest idea so far. It was remarkable how he never failed to impress you.
“I’m going to use this potion on Jaemin, he’ll definitely leave you alone after that.”
“He left me alone after I put a rat onto his head but suit yourself, bro.”
You were hiding behind stairs on the third floor, waiting for Jaemin to walk down. Jisung was holding his flask tight in his hand. When you heard people talking, you discreetly looked up and saw Jaemin. Jisung didn’t hesitate and before you could react, his flask was emptied on Jaemin’s head. His hair slowly stood on end but it wasn’t all, it also turned into candy apple red. He somehow added Colovaria to the hair-rising potion and you were about to congratulate him when you got a glimpse of Minho upstairs.
Jaemin left, horrified, to the nearest bathroom to see the damage while Minho was casually walking down the stairs. Jisung lost his smile when he saw him and swallowed hard. Once arrived at your height, he opened his mouth.
“Rules are put in place to prevent hundreds of magically gifted hormonal hazards from accidentally turning themselves into sharks or losing an eye, or provoking the wrath of a giant spider, or blowing themselves up, or whatever. But here you are, trying to break every single one of them.” You almost felt relieved he didn’t scream at you.
“Look, I’m stupid, okay? And stupid people do stupid things. That’s a fact.”
You could have laughed at his excuse if Minho wasn’t staring at both of you like he was about to end you. He wasn’t generally scary but he was a prefect so when you did something wrong… well, let’s say you better not be seen by him.
“Do you use this lame excuse every time you do shit?”
“My other excuse is that it was Y/N’s idea but no one buys it.”
You looked at him in disbelief. Of course no one bought it, you were more like his sidekick than the mastermind.
“Not surprising. Anyway, fifteen points from Ravenclaw. I would have taken twenty but adding a transfiguration spell to a potion was really clever.”
He asked Jisung for a favor, talking privately in the nearest classroom for a few minutes. Then Minho left and Jisung came back to you with a big smile and you high-fived him. The Marauders Map usually prevented incidents like this and he wasn’t near this place when you last checked the Map. Minho literally came out of nowhere.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿
On a fine and warm day, as Jisung and you successfully pranked Jaemin for the umpteenth time that year, he turned to you still laughing.
“You know what’s the strength of a duet? It’s to be two.”
“Thank you for your encouraging words. I now know you need me,” you winked.
The laughter slowly died down and the atmosphere became somehow serious. He sat on a bench and you joined him.
“Are you kidding? I’ll always need you.”
“Always? Sounds like a really long time,” you chuckled, more to tease him and put aside the fact that you need him just as much.
“Just wishing we’ll stay together forever,” he blurted out, his eyes concentrating on his shoes.
“You’re sweet. I would love that too.”
He lifted his head and looked you in the eye.
“Really? No need for the Imperius Curse then?” You blinked a few times, about to smack him when he smiled wildly. “Just kidding, I would never.”
“Anyway, go train for the match against Gryffindor, wouldn’t want Mark to catch the snitch before you, would you?”
“Won’t happen.”

Care
Summary: Almost any day now.
Genre: crime au; fluff-fluff; smut-smut-smut (spanking and submissive behaviour, amongst others)
Characters: B.I I Kim Hanbin x reader x Bobby I Kim Jiwon
A/N: None of the images in the collage are mine, please refer to here for more; For SF9 writings, read here and for iKON, read here~~
The place is a motel, straight out of an American movie. You would not see a place like this anywhere else in the world, or even visit one for that matter. But he had insisted. He brought you here, on a whim, spontaneously. The bed is fine, less than clean but not dirty either. Upon first glance, the place is retro. ''Out of an American movie'', you had said out loud. He chuckled, ''I guess it is.''
Now he is balls deep in you. Caressing your side, in a soothing manner, soothing your cries and whimpers because of the stretch he causes. But it's more than that. The cries of his name that fall from your lips is because of how he pleasures you. Surges of arousal rocks you to and from. With every touch he fills you.
Hot and cavernous are his kisses. You only lean away for breath. Ironic that it has to be something so intimate to occur in such a setting. With every kiss, your hot cries are muffled, like he wants you all to himself. So that no one else can hear you. It is the small space between the two of you, within which all the sounds of resulting pleasure come from, that cultivates such precious memories.
Maybe it was the thrill of running away. From the police you were running, gasping for breath. You wonder if you are going to go to jail. That can not happen. There was conflict of the mind. You were scared, when you were running through the barbed-wired gates but for a brief moment, you looked at the two of them and laughed. Such a weird moment it was; you can't stop thinking about it.
''Let's play some music'' he had said. As he kissed your collarbone and fluttered down your breasts, taking a perk bud into his mouth, hot and heavily, music played through the speaker. In between fast- paced and slow-paced, regular maybe, it played in the background. It was like nature, enough to leave an impression but also enough to pass by.
Hanbin sucked on the skin above your breasts, skirting the area with the warm touch of his lips, his mouth doing it's dirty work. He loves tasting you, the smell of your skin would embrace him too, in this act. Without Jiwon. The atmosphere is different, more serious. With Jiwon it would be light, some jokes would be thrown around. Where is Jiwon?
Out taking a risk. He could be caught. You and Hanbin are here, without a care in the world. Finish what you start. A couple of thoughts are involved in this. He absolutely needs to be naked with you, to let go of all his worries. Motivated by his concerns about the three of you getting caught by the police? High off adrenaline? Whatever it is, you push him on his back, straddling him with a bright smile.
Moans and groans ensue from the man underneath you, whose chest you have your hands roam on, freely. Exploring. Your mouth falls open, jaw slacks when you sink onto his hard cock, circling your hips. The two of you are way past any concerns at this point. He caresses your backside, kneading the flesh in his hand.
You fall forward, on his chest. He slapped your backside, rather harshly, eliciting a moan from you. Anything he does would be pleasurable to you right now. Not less than twenty minutes later, Jiwon comes back. Flash of fear radiates throughout your chest. Your first instinct is to freeze but Hanbin's isn't. He covers you with his body, shielding you from view.
You look like you are caught. You can not see much but you relax. It's Jiwon's chuckle, ''You guys are doing this? Go on, it's not like I haven't seen her naked before.''. You mumble something for Jiwon to shut up, which he laughs at, ruffling your hair before dropping off the groceries on the table.
''Shit you scared me man.'' Hanbin murmurs, ''Plus, we were done, just cuddling.'', he motions, wincing as he slips out of you and into his jeans. You lay on the bed for some time, contemplating, looking outside with your limbs splayed all over the sheets. In a moment, you find them in the bathroom.
Jiwon is freshening up, all his clothes removed, hastily placed on the counter. He only wears his boxers. You grab your shirt from the side, putting it on. Jiwon momentarily loses his train of thought when he glances at you. ''What was I saying? Ah'' was what he said, welcoming you with a hug.
The conversation stops short. He hugs you, in relief, I'm back, so to say. He nuzzles himself in your hair, breathing in the scent of home, what it smells like. Committing it to memory just in case he does not come back anymore. Hanbin looks up from his phone, smiling at the two of you. It can not be the same without either of you or something like that, he thinks.
''What happened?'' you ask in the embrace with Jiwon. It sparks a need from him, he's open to the idea since there's a bed big enough to fit the three of you out there. He needs you, but not now. He has something to tell you first.
''Let's get out of here first.'' he motions to the bed that makes up for most of the room.
Hanbin doesn't say anything, he follows you out into the room. ''We have time, we can stay here for sometime. Unless the two of you want to get out of here, which is perfectly fine by me. Actually, I think we should move.'', Jiwon looks out the room, confirming his idea.
Hanbin seats you in between his legs, his chest touching your back and opposite Jiwon who is close enough to touch your knees. He rubs your sides, blowing out air in nervousness. He tries to keep calm. He can't lose his calm now, especially not in front of the two of you. Shit like that is contagious.
''Where should we move?'' Hanbin asks. This has to be thought out carefully. Choices have to be rationalised right now. The more choices the better, but then it would feel as if it was wrong, like this can't be right.
After that conversation, Jiwon takes the two of you to the pool he found earlier. To relax. You feel that he's doing this because you won't be able to rest, maybe for a really long time. Jiwon thinks hard to himself that he wants the three of you to be together. More peacefully as compared to the situation that you currently are in. Maybe in a foreign country, relaxing on the beachside, something like that.
He'll make sure that it happens, just the three of you. He knows that you aren't one for settling down but it's better than going to jail. That's how it is at this point. Alone would endanger you with no help and three is a support but easy to pick off when together. Stuck. Perception?.
He's on the other side of the pool, waddling his legs and leaning against the granite wall. The pool is blue, brightly so. Sun shines throughout the whole area. Hanbin is at the opposite end; you are swimming towards Jiwon. You took off your t-shirt earlier. You are naked right now. What can Jiwon do?. He knows that this was perfect.
Jiwon reaches out for you as do you for him. He switches so that it's you against the wall. You already know how this will play out. But every time is a new experience. Of experience but new? Fresh is the optimal word. You kiss him lightly, giggling some and laughing some.
He reached for your sex, easing a finger or two in without warning. His groin stirs at the scenario. You were already wet from having sex with Hanbin, he had eased you up. But like this? You must have been ready for a second round. You would have done so if Jiwon hadn't come back then.
If he was more than a second late, he would have seen Hanbin ramming your pretty ass into the creaking bed, without a care that the bed should be intact because it's the only one you have. For three people. He could have joined in. But now he had you all to himself. He turns you around, telling you to place your hands on the wall.
You do so excitedly, he can see the flush on your cheeks at his suggestion. ''From the back?'', you ask even though you know. He hums, placing a kiss on your neck, pumping himself a few times before he sinks into your warmth. God, it is glorious. He is lost for words. The feeling of relief after a long day spent running and what not. He always had the energy to do this with you.
He rocks you against the edge of the pool, shifting the water in waves. Hanbin doesn't watch for the first half, but he can hear. And his cock grows hard when he hears. Especially what you say about Jiwon's dick and how it is like an intrusion between your legs. Fuck, he thinks. You cry out in pleasure, like you had moments ago, cutting off your speech short.
It is how hard you were holding onto the edge, grasping the granite, moaning out like the mess you were. Jiwon noticed the red print, like a shake darker than it should have been. The mark on your backside, made by Hanbin. He grits his teeth at that instant. He pulls you back by the neck, asking, ''What were you and Hanbin up to when I was gone huh?''.
His tone is punishing and you know where this is going. You are about to love this. He takes your silence as disobedience. He lets go of your neck, letting you fall back to the edges. Jiwon forces you straight when he fists your hair, printing your backside red. Tears rim your eyes. You will find it hard to sit afterwards.
Jiwon is angry. Unsuccessfully, he had pushed it away earlier. By going out, he was risking his life, your relationship. He could have been caught. But he walked in to see the two of you having the time of your life, of course, it angered him. And this is how it was coming out. Frustration.
He hits till you cry out for him to stop. He goes much more slowly then. He caresses your tummy, avoiding your sore spot altogether, asking, ''You okay? Do you want me to stop?''. You sniff, finding him peering at you with those inquisitive eyes, always inquisitive.
You disagree and he continues on, till he rips your release out of you. Before you can slump, Hanbin catches you, sliding in front of you. You lean on his chest. Jiwon kisses you, leaving the pool. You pull him back, ''Where are you going?''. He kisses your hand, meeting your smile, ''I'll be back.''.
You are a little tired, not by much. Hanbin holds you till Jiwon comes back, with a bottle of lube and a condom. ''Huh?'' you murmur, realising that you are not done, at least not yet. Jiwon slips back into the pool, the warm body of water enveloping his figure.
Two different people, two different scenarios. Perhaps not all the resources are available but you have time. Enough to let both of them fill you up before you leave for the open road.

JEONG JAEHYUN: Coming of Age (soulmate/college au) 🤠🌸☔
You knew everybody had a soulmate, and you knew what would eventually happen because of that. The way you find your soulmate is different for everyone, but the way you find yours has you thinking you’re in some 00′s teen movie because you wake up in the body of Jeong Jaehyun.
KIM JUNGWOO: Secret Roses (hanahaki au) 💌☔🌸
Working under the same company, you and Jungwoo had become pretty close friends. However, something you saw happen on live television wasn’t exactly anything you were expecting from him.
WONG LUCAS: Tough (werewolf au) 💌🌸🤠☔
Lucas looks like the stereotypical player. He gets attention from boys and girls alike, and he’s quite the smooth talker. But he’s the biggest softy anybody would ever meet. A stark contract to you, who looks like you’ll murder anybody who just looks at you the wrong way, and you absolutely would which is why you don’t really have any friends. But there’s something about this tall idiot that starts blabbering to you in at least three different languages that makes you hate one less person on campus.

Rushed Ruling
In this 6k word tale from the SF9 universe and Collaborative Chronicles of the “Learn Your Kingdom” Collab, we enter the world of a Royal!Hwiyoung, who becomes the new heir to the Scroy kingdom after his brother’s untimely death. However, unfit to rule, his parents send him into the capital city of Cyemes to learn of commoner life. During this, he meets a Vigilante!Hybrid!Eunjae and sticks to their side for the remainder of his time outside of the palace. Although there isn’t a romantic/sexual arc to this story, the elements of a Fantasy!AU remain, as well as consistent use of alcohol, threats of force, slight violence, use of an alias/hiding one’s identity, miscommunications, and slight betrayal. Also, there is a similar tale from the ATEEZ universe that uses this kingdom, so let me know if you’d like to hear that story in the future.
A/N: Let me know if this introduction works well, as I’m trying to tie more aspects into the blog lore, but only if it works. Also, Eunjae is agender, but it isn’t mentioned in the fic. That’s why you only see them referred to using they/them pronouns.
"What are we going to do? We don't have much longer before he inherits the kingdom, but he's clearly not ready!" The king screams to the group as he paces in front of his seat in the meeting room.
"This is why I told you Youngsu needed exemption from the military service! Youngkyun isn't fit to rule!" His wife shifts blame onto him while everyone waits for the couple to calm down, too afraid to lose their job if they speak.
The king takes a deep breath before reminding the queen that the kingdom of Scroy holds every adult - even royalty - accountable for at least a year of military service. In fact, the king did all he could to keep his eldest son out of harm's way by assigning him a defensive position along the southern border - one that borders their allied neighbors of the Cyunth country. Nobody could foresee the volcanic eruption on that border, and nobody expected the kingdom's heir to lose his life while saving those living in the area.
As the queen settles again, she asks the teachers what the situation calls for, "How is Youngkyun doing? Has anything been able to stick?"
"His royal highness seems to grasp only Cyemesan basics. Other than typical etiquette, he cannot fully grasp any issues of the capital. Due to this, we have yet to touch on issues outside the great city. He has yet to learn of Scroyer trade or production specialties, nor of the military protocols other than what he learned from his military activities." The lead instructor describes the poor situation but adds a possible solution, "We've found that prince Youngkyun learns best through first-hand exposure and experience, which is probably the reason he understood etiquette without issue. As such, we believe it would be more effective to send him into Cyemes to learn the issues directly."
The royal couple exchange glances, trying to discern one another's reactions to the idea. In truth, the options run slim, and time ticks by each day. They need their second son to learn at least a portion of what his brother knew, or they risk throwing their humble country into turmoil under a useless king. The kingdom is already known to have high crime rates, so they need a proper ruler to control those issues.
"Thank you, professors. I believe we will try that plan, as we have no time left to waste. The queen and I will be forever grateful for the effort you all have put into assisting Youngkyun. As he has finished his mandatory service, there shouldn't be any risk to his life, so we hope this event doesn't repeat. You are free to leave. Speak to Jinseok for your remaining payments before heading home."
With the king's dismissal, the royal couple is left alone in the meeting hall. The king finally returns to his seat as the queen lowers her head onto the table. They sit in silence for a minute before the queen admits to having concerns about the plan.
"He's never been outside of the castle. How will he figure anything out? What about payment? Do we supply him with Rinn to start? Or do we throw him into the world without so much as a copper bit?" She questions, partially muffled as she speaks into the table.
"Of course, we'll give him Rinn. I say we give him 50 gold pieces. If he's smart with it, it could last a couple of months. Or it'll be more than enough to buy his own small house and live without a job for a month or so. But we can't help him any more than that."
After a short discussion, they ask an assistant to bring Youngkyun to the meeting room. In the short time before his son arrives, the king gathers some essentials to give him. Once he joins them, they alert him of the dire circumstances that lead to this tough decision. The king slides the small sack that he arranged across the table, the coins jingling. Confused, Youngkyun opens it to find 50 gold pieces of Rinn, a change of clothes, and a minimalistic map of Cyemes.
"Father, what is this for? Are you kicking me out for not learning quick enough? Youngsu had a decade's worth of classes, so why are you treating me this way?!"
Trying to calm her son, the queen answers before her husband has a chance to, "Youngkyun, honey, we aren't kicking you out. Your instructors noticed that you learn better through experience, so we'd like you to spend some time in Cyemes. We'll send someone to bring you home after long enough, but we want you to experience the issues of a typical citizen so that you might have a better idea of what needs to be focused on when you ascend to the throne."
Understanding that his parents have no other options, Youngkyun stands and holds the ransack over his shoulder. He asks if he should leave immediately and listens to his father as he explains the guidelines to this "experiment." After the instructions, his parents walk with him to the gates, giving hugs and affirmations before watching Youngkyun walk alone into the city.
As he roams, Youngkyun finds an empty cottage. A note on the door indicates that the owner will be selling the home for 20 gold pieces at the nearby market. Youngkyun consults the map before heading en route to the market, hoping to find himself a temporary home before the sun sets. However, he only knows the general direction to head in due to the map's simplicity. As the sun lowers and the sky turns a lovely pink, the temperature reaches freezing. Thinking he might be a street of two too low, Youngkyun turns up the nearest alley to cut through quickly.
With his luck, the alley eventually reaches a dead end. As he turns to find a way out, he discovers four people standing in his way.
"Excuse me. I need to get by. I'm looking for the Ryorgin market, but I don't quite know my way around."
After a short silence, Youngkyun continues, "Could you please make space for me to get by? Or maybe direct me towards the market? It'd be extremely helpful and-"
"Do you really not understand the situation you're in? We're robbing you, you nitwit! Hand over your bag!"
After the leader speaks up, the other three move slowly toward the trapped boy. Knowing that he needs the items he has to survive, Youngkyun debates revealing his royal lineage. Before he decides, a loud crash catches everyone's attention. The crate behind the group of robbers falls to the ground as the piece of plywood that smashed it lands softly onto the shoulder of a short, ambiguous humanoid creature. Youngkyun takes a few seconds to scan them as the stranger analyzes the situation, finding a medium-toned feline-hybrid with curly violet hair and a matching tail.
"This seems unfair, don't you think? Four experienced robbers against a helpless young boy. Tsk, tsk, tsk. You're even a hybrid." They point the large piece of wood at the leader effortlessly while continuing blandly, "As an act of good faith for a fellow hybrid, I'll give all four of you a chance to leave now, completely unharmed."
With an angry huff, the leader runs past them and turns down the nearest street to leave everyone's view quickly. His lackeys follow shortly behind, so the helpful soul drops their weapon and turns to depart as well. Thankful for their help, Youngkyun catches up to his savior.
"Thank you so much for your help. Can I repay you for your kindness? What's your name? What shall I call you?" Youngkyun questions as his savior coldly continues walking without acknowledging him.
Despite the cold response, the naive boy continues to follow this person into a nearby bar. The bustling energy of the pub overwhelms the poor boy, so he sticks to his savior like glue, sitting next to them at the counter, where the bartender gives him a weird look before passing a chilled salmon-colored drink to her regular beside him.
"Eunjae, who's the kid? Here's your glass of Jetorih. From the sawdust on your shirt, you look like you might need a couple more."
"Thanks, Min. I saved him from a group of robbers on my way here. The sawdust must be from the box I smashed to scare 'em off." Eunjae takes a swig of the drink after explaining the situation as if it's a weekly or even daily occurrence.
With a chuckle, the bartender turns to Youngkyun, "So, what's your name, kid? How'd you get into that situation anyway? It'll sound more interesting coming from you than my single-toned regular." She leans onto the counter, smirking as she waits for an answer from Youngkyun or a comeback from Eunjae.
"Oh, I'm Young-" Suddenly remembering that he needs a false name while in the city, he catches himself and chooses an alias on the spot, "Hwiyoung. My name's Hwiyoung, and I'm new here. I was trying to find my way to Ryorgin market, but I took a wrong turn and ended up trapped in a dead-end alleyway. Eunjae saved me, so I hoped I found someone kind to help me adjust, but it felt like talking to a brick wall. It was as if I didn't exist."
"Yeah, that sounds about right. Eunjae doesn't talk much because people question the dull tone they use a lot. But Eunjae has a kind heart, so they can't let injustice slide. It's like we Cyemeans have our own little vigilante for when the good-for-nothing law enforcement refuse to do the work."
At the mention of being a vigilante, Eunjae's tail flicks hard, hitting against the barstool. To block out the title, they finish their drink in one swift swallow and slam the glass back on the table. The sound gains Youngkyun's attention, who quickly turns to see Eunjae undoing their tightly-braided hair. As the gorgeous violet waves fall freely down to the middle of their back, the soft lighting of the pub makes it appear to glow. The sight momentarily enthralls Hwiyoung, but Min captures his attention again by asking if he'd like a drink.
"What is it that Eunjae's having? I've never heard of Jetorih before. Is it sweet? I can't stand the taste of harder drinks."
It feels as if the pub freezes around him once he shows his innocent unfamiliarity with the beverage.
"You've never heard of Jetorih before? I know you said you ain't from here, but you're still Scroyer, right? Have you been living under a rock? Jetorih is the most popular drink in the kingdom. It's easy to make, so it's cheap to buy. Plus, it still tastes good and gives a good buzz." Min begins, bewildered that she even has to explain something so commonly known.
"It's made by fermenting berries and then freezing the result over a honey-water mixture. The resulting slush is served with more honey on top to nullify the foam as it melts." Eunjae follows with the production process, and it feels like Youngkyun started an audiobook for making alcohol.
He quickly explains that he usually drinks wine, which makes Min burst out laughing. As she insinuates that wine is far too expensive for anyone but the royal family due to the cost of importing it, she appreciates Hwiyoung's "joke." As such, she pours him a drink of Jetorih on the house before refilling Eunjae's glass. They both watch as Hwiyoung tries the drink. The nearly frozen drink instantly melts on his tongue, leaving behind the striking sweetness from the honey with a slight tang from the choice of berries. He quickly understands why the drink is popular. In fact, he makes a mental note to have this made in the castle, as it tastes better and costs less than the imported wines.
As the hours pass, Eunjae and Hwiyoung drink more Jetorih and become more talkative. As the normally-timid boy gains liquid courage from the drink, he confronts Eunjae with the same topics as before, hoping that they'll open up more from the alcohol. Min enjoys the scene in front of her while serving alcohol to the guests and shining glasses when business slows.
"So, Eunjae, there must be a way to repay you for saving me earlier. If you need a travel buddy, that'll benefit both of us. Even if you don't need one, can I tag along?" The boy begs, unsure of another way to safely travel and learn more about the capital.
With a sigh, Eunjae caves, "If I agree to let you follow me, will you hold your own ground?"
"Yes, yes. I finished my mandatory service already, so I can hold my own. It just wasn't expected earlier; I wasn't prepared."
"I don't need an explanation. Just know that I'll leave you behind if you drag me down."
As Min pours Hwiyoung his final glass of the foaming pinkish-orange liquid, she confronts his desperately-conceived plan, "Hwiyoung, are you sure you want to travel with Eunjae? They really are Cyemes's vigilante, so it'll be a very fast-paced and chaotic adventure."
With an enthusiastic nod and bright smile, Hwiyoung confirms, "I think it'll be a good change of pace for me. I'm way too comfortable with a slow and steady life. I need some change."
Min shrugs, accepting his decision despite her protective instinct over the young, impulsive boy. After all the bar patrons leave, the trio walks to the nearby inn. Hwiyoung and Eunjae pay for their rooms, then Min says her goodbyes and heads home for the night.
In the morning, Eunjae wakes with the rising sun. She leaves her room quickly and pounds on Hwiyoung's door to wake him. Before heading downstairs to the lobby, they scream at the door, telling Hwiyoung that he'll be left behind if he doesn't come down within the next 30 minutes. Despite still feeling groggy and feeling the nasty effects of last night's alcohol, he drags himself out of bed, rinses off, and meets Eunjae downstairs.
"Morning, Eunjae. Where are we headed this early in the morning?"
As stern and deadpan as ever, Eunjae warns, "If you're going to stick with me, you'll need to be prepared to wake up early. This is usual. Today is the first day of the festival, so we'll be helping to set up for it. Be ready for a lot of manual labor."
Hwiyoung stands there, blinking and unsure of what to say in response. He mumbles out an acceptance before following his companion out of the inn and towards the town's center. As everyone greets Eunjae warmly, Hwiyoung catches the first glimpse of them smiling. Despite their monotonous voice, their face actually reveals emotion. He chuckles to himself as he notices, causing the townspeople to ask Eunjae about him.
Despite their attempt to cruise past the topic by simply claiming Hwiyoung as a travel buddy, the man in question speaks up, "My name is Hwiyoung, and I'm not from the area. Eunjae helped me when bandits tried to steal from me, and they're being kind enough to let me join them on their daily adventures."
With his innocent glee, he makes the group swoon over Eunjae's good deed, complimenting them on finding such a sweet partner. Clearly, some people mistake the situation as a romantic partnership, but neither party care enough to correct the mistake. They both know the truth of the situation, so they pay no mind to how others see it. In fact, Eunjae refuses to continue acknowledging the conversation at all, asking where to help out. Suddenly, the group disperses, as if remembering why they're all here, to finish preparing for the festival.
When night comes, the festival lights flicker on in a glowing brilliance. Those who set up take a moment to admire their work before returning to the festival. Eunjae and Hwiyoung admire the bright, lively scene from the top of a building a couple blocks away. This way, Hwiyoung can get a glimpse of the festival while Eunjae can relax in peace.
The remainder of the week follows a similar pattern - the duo helping around the area and then finding a cheap inn nearby for the night. After being warned by Min that Eunjae's adventures can get crazy, Hwiyoung begins to feel as if he received the short end of the stick, so he questions his companion.
"Eunjae, is this what you do every day? Just finding odd jobs in the area? Why would Min warn me about going with you if this is it?"
Unfazed, Eunjae responds, "Oh, have you gotten bored? We can move on from this then."
Walking towards the river on the city's edge, Eunjae leads Hwiyoung away from the immediate area. Due to the increased heat, Eunjae replaced their black long-sleeved shirt with a loose tank of the same color. As he walks behind them, he admires the tattoos on their arms. A black-ink tattoo adorns their right forearm, covered only slightly by their signature silver cuff bracelet. On the left shoulder, Hwiyoung finds a gorgeous watercolor piece depicting a pair of hummingbirds feeding on the same flower.
As the duo boards a boat heading south, Hwiyoung's curiosity manifests into words, "Those tattoos look amazing. Is there any meaning behind them, or are they aesthetic choices?"
Running their hand over the art on their right arm, Eunjae softly smiles as they explain, "This is a familial tattoo. It's a combination of the panther clan's seal and my mother's family crest. I got it just before moving to the capital, as if to constantly remind myself where I came from."
Stunned by the deep meaning, Hwiyoung takes a closer look. Eunjae traces the tattoo to explain which parts represent their maternal or paternal side. After, they both turn their attention to the light and colorful art contrasting the black ink on the other arm.
"It might not look as meaningful since it's a common creature to get tattooed, but the hummingbirds represent this powerful and positive energy that can be hidden in small packages. Since I'm only about 160cm tall, this smaller one is me." They point to the bird on the left of the flower as they continue, "But this bigger one on the right represents a powerful friend I'm supposed to gain. I've been to four fortunetellers who all foretold that I'll meet someone important who will help me change the kingdom for the better. That's why the flower is there - it represents the kingdom that will blossom under our help."
As Hwiyoung remains baffled by Eunjae's deep symbolism, the boat reaches the kingdom's southernmost port, bringing the ride to an end. As they step onto the dock, ready to experience adventure, they're immediately greeted by blades.
"Who are you, and why have you come?" The most colorfully-adorned man - clearly the leader - asks at the front of the group.
Hwiyoung's eyes go wide, unsure how to respond, but Eunjae simply sighs. "Do you guys still do this to everyone? You know it's me, and he's clearly with me. Stop scaring everyone who comes to the port."
As soon as Eunjae speaks, the blades drop to everyone's sides. The leader apologizes to them by name, insisting that they look different from last time. With a chuckle, Eunjae forgives the man and agrees that their hairstyle has changed since the previous visit. After the short conversation, Hwiyoung's frightened heartbeat returns to normal, just in time for the duo to take their leave.
"Sorry about them. They always believe spies are sent to them. The group is slightly inane, but they're still very kind once they trust you."
"Clearly, they trust you already, so that's good. If I ended up here alone, I wouldn't have the slightest idea what to do. Why are we here, though? Is there something you need to do along the border? We're fairly close to Cyunth." As Hwiyoung follows his companion down a dirt trail clearly made by repeated pedestrian travel, his curiosity grows.
"You'll see soon enough. Just don't be too shocked by what you find in the middle of nowhere."
After a few minutes of walking, Hwiyoung sees a small village in the valley below. Even from his distance, he can see panthers and hybrids alike going about their daily life. He stops to admire the view, falling behind as Eunjae continues walking towards their friends and family. Jogging to catch up, he asks whether they simply wanted to come home for a bit.
"There's someone I need you to meet. I have questions for them about you - they'll give me all the answers I need."
At first, he thinks they mean their parents, but he quickly remembers the four fortunetellers mentioned in the tattoo story, so he alters his assumption. He can't understand why they'd head there, though, unless to answer questions about himself that he'd answer without hesitation if they asked.
As Eunjae leads him through the village to a small house slightly further away, he wonders if the panthers disapprove of magicks or fortunetelling. However, as he enters the door, the immense energy that greets him leaves him wondering if it's simply too dangerous to be a regular neighbor.
Uneasy, Hwiyoung greets the older hybrid who introduces herself by the moniker Jewel. She places her hands on his shoulders, sending a raging heat through his body from the level of mystic energies. As quickly as she touches him, she removes her hands in shock.
"Eunjae, who have you brought here?" She asks, her worry apparent through her tone as she rubs her hands of the shock.
"I was hoping you'd help me figure that out. I saved this one from a robbery, and, since then, he's insisted on sticking with me to learn the area. Says his name is Hwiyoung."
"Hwiyoung, huh?" The fortuneteller circles him as she talks, "That isn't sparking anything. Maybe he normally uses a different name, but I don't expect to find that out. He has a very distinct energy to him, one strong enough to fight my own when we touched."
Impatient, Eunjae interrupts their elder's long-winded explanation, "Is he that important person you told me about?"
"Is that why you brought him here? You sweet, single-minded fool. Every person you meet has the ability to meet the criteria I spoke of. It fully depends on your goals to determine who ends up as that partner for you. While his energy leads me to believe he is or will be a man of great power and influence, he can only be your partner if your hopes align with his. You must choose who of the people fate delivers you will be represented by that second bird on your arm. Remember, Eunjae, that this is still your life to control, even if your fortune has been read a certain way."
Without a word of response, Eunjae turns on their heel and leaves the cabin. Hwiyoung moves forward to follow before Jewel grabs his wrist to stop him.
"Let them be alone for a bit. It's better to wait until they're ready. You can stay here while you wait. I'll get you something to drink. I'm sure Eunjae went for some Jetorih at the pub, but this drink is better - and non-alcoholic, for one. Feel free to ask me anything while you're here."
Jewel and Hwiyoung sit down at the small, circular table in the dining room. The pitcher sitting in between them fills their cups with a deep purple liquid - a color that matches Eunjae's hair. As Jewel attempts to hide her knowing smile by taking the first drink, Hwiyoung asks about Eunjae's fortune before even looking at the cup in front of him.
"Ah, yes. You must be slightly confused by the claims they made about you. They've been informed of their fate to improve this kingdom greatly with the help of a powerful friend. That's basically all they were told, but they've made it a point to find that person to begin those positive changes as soon as possible."
"Can you tell anyone's fortune?" The curious boy asks, suddenly concerned that she can already see through his alias.
"Only if they allow me to. Energy follows very basic but necessary rules, and the first is respecting boundaries. I can only read as far into someone as they let me, so they will only be told that which their subconscious already knows. All I do is search that subconscious space for those answers."
"Then," He hesitates before asking, but Jewel reads him like an open book.
"Would you like an insight into your fortune? The best way is to learn your name. I'll be able to search your energy better with your name as he guide." She notices Hwiyoung's fidgeting, so she offers another option, "While that's the best option, it isn't the only one."
As the intrigued boy perks up, Jewel explains how palm lines can tell small bits of one's fortune, as well as simple energy reading, as Hwiyoung's energy is unusually strong. He asks to learn what he can without revealing his name, so Jewel prepares for a quick, surface-level energy dive. She requests that Hwiyoung place his palms face-up on the table. As he complies, Eunjae strolls back into the cabin, in a much happier mood than they left it.
"Oh, is Hwiyoung's fortune being told? I'd like to hear it, too." Despite the alcohol-affected actions, their monotone voice remains.
"Yes, I'm doing simple readings. Without the proper guiding name, I have to do palm reading and a surface-level dive."
With no more interruptions, Jewel begins tracing the lines in Hwiyoung's palms. Trying to read the overwhelming energy proves to be a struggle, but she tells them everything she can, including the fact that his life will change majorly by the end of the year. While only scratching the surface of his energy, she learns that he was under intense watch until recently, but this unwatched portion of life will be vital in his progress towards the future he desires.
Finding no connection to their reading, Eunjae excuses themselves and waits outside. A smile creeps onto the fortuneteller's face, knowing that the frustration is for naught. Although she revealed everything she found in the reading, she worded it in a way to not allow Eunjae to make any clear, immediate connections. Hwiyoung definitely radiates enough energy to be that powerful friend, and Eunjae can feel it too. That's why they brought him here to begin with; they wanted Jewel's confirmation on the matter. However, Jewel wants Eunjae to push their own destiny rather than simply confirm gut feelings relating to a years-old reading.
After the reading, Hwiyoung thanks Jewel before heading outside to meet with Eunjae again. As he leaves, Jewel whispers something about royalty, correctly gauging his lineage from the energy readings.
"Okay, so now that that's over with, let's rest here and continue the adventure tomorrow. You can stay in my guest room." Eunjae guides Hwiyoung back towards the village center and into their cozy home.
"I didn't realize you actually owned a residence. Since you're always traveling around and sleeping in inns, I assumed we'd do the same here." Hwiyoung takes in the delicately decorated interior as he speaks.
"Well, it's a family home. I technically don't own it, but my siblings and I never find ourselves home at the same time." As they turn down the hall, they point out each room as they explain, "This is the guest room. The bath is across the hall, and I'll be over here at the end of the hall."
The duo parts for the night and sleeps with the new knowledge from the fortuneteller.
The next week involves seemingly-endless foot travel until finally reaching the southwestern corner of the kingdom. This section was known to be one of the most dangerous areas within Scroy borders. With the volcanoes lining the southern border, this corner also homes an elaborate system of caves that haven't been successfully explored. Those who have managed to make it back quit while they were ahead due to seeing scattered bones and belongings.
As Eunjae approaches the entrance to this maze of caves, Hwiyoung stops, "Why do you want to go in there? It's dangerous, and we don't have proper armor or weaponry. The kingdom has sent humans and hybrids alike, but very few have returned safely."
Before turning to face him, Eunjae removes the sly smile from their face. They shoot a confused look in Hwiyoung's direction, questioning, "How do you even know that? You barely know anything about our capital, about the clans in the south, or even culturally-famous drinks, pastimes, or festivals. Did you live near here? As far as I know, People refuse to settle around here due to the dangers."
"Ah... Well, no. I just... it was something that interested me, so I did some research on it." Trying to cover his mistake, he scrambles for an excuse.
"Research? How so? None of the libraries have access to books about this cave system except the king's royal library. Did you go around asking people or something?"
With a sigh, Hwiyoung gives in to Eunjae's probing, "No. I know about it from the king. I did extra research in the royal library to see what we've learned, but there isn't much information there either."
Intrigued by this information, Eunjae takes a seat cross-legged in the grass to listen. Understanding the long story ahead of them, they ask the question that they feel will unlock their partner's hidden truth, "How'd you talk to the king or have access to the royal library?"
As Hwiyoung joins them in the grass, he takes a couple breaths to prepare himself for whatever reaction comes from the exchange. However, as he tries to tell them of his identity, two soldier-like men approach.
"Sir, you've been requested to return. Please stand up so we can guide you back." One robotically recites his orders while locking eyes with Hwiyoung, "We are ready and able to use force if necessary. Please, do not resist."
Protective of their partner, Eunjae stands in between the soldiers and Hwiyoung. After explaining that they were in the middle of an important conversation and that Hwiyoung doesn't have to go anywhere with strangers, the soldiers double down by revealing that the orders were given directly by the king and queen of Scroy and that he was to return to the palace as soon as physically possible. With this news, Eunjae tries to hide the whiplash coming from the shock by standing their ground and declaring that he can go after they finish their conversation.
Turning back around to face Hwiyoung, the confused hybrid asks the loaded question, "So, who are you?"
"Next in line for the throne. My name is actually Youngkyun, and I'm the second eldest child of the royal family. My brother died last year, so my parents have been rushing me through training to rule properly. It wasn't sticking in my head, so I was forced into the capital to learn firsthand. Hence why I don't know how to survive as a normal citizen in Cyemes. I'm sorry I didn't tell you. My dad told me I had to create an alias."
"You're... the prince? Really? That can't be right." Astonished, this is the first time Eunjae's voice betrays any sign of emotion. The break in monotonality proves to Hwiyoung the level of surprise this news gains.
"Yes. I didn't really care to be. And, frankly, I still would rather not become king. Could you come with me to the palace to help explain to my parents what I want to do? Even if you're just there for moral support, having you with me will help a lot. You're my first and only real friend, after all."
Hesitant, Eunjae remains silent and avoids his eyes for a minute to contemplate before uttering a simple agreement, "Ah... I guess there's no reason not to."
It takes a week and a half's worth of travel to reach the castle, so Youngkyun uses the time to answer any and all questions Eunjae has about him, the palace, or anything in general. He makes sure to buy enough Jetorih at each stop to last them until the next, knowing that the liquor often helps his friend's head settle after receiving major news. As he learns, they don't have many questions to ask outside of the basic ones involving his royal status. For about half of the trip, they travel in near silence, only hearing their footsteps with the occasional event while they pass through cities.
Reaching the palace, Eunjae's jaw slowly drops as they look around more and more. Even Youngkyun, who's often oblivious to others' thoughts, can read their mind from their face.
"Yeah, it's massive in comparison to all the normal Cyemean buildings. Even living here, I never really adjusted to the size. It just amplifies feelings of loneliness."
As they approach the doors to the meeting room, the guards who escorted them knock and announce Youngkyun's presence before leaving. Youngkyun opens the doors, holding them open for Eunjae before closing them again. Eunjae refuses to look up in case they'll offend the royal couple by merely existing.
"Hello, mother. Hello, father. This is Eunjae. They've been helping me since I left, starting by saving me from being robbed before spending a full day in the capital."
At the mention of their name, Eunjae looks up momentarily to smile at the king and queen before bowing and keeping their head lowered once again.
"Welcome home, son. Thank you, Eunjae, for protecting our son and helping him experience life from a commoner's perspective. I'm sure he was a hassle, especially while taking up an alter ego. He's not great with keeping his own secrets. We'll be sure to compensate you however you wish."
Although Eunjae thanks the king, their tail flicks hard, betraying their irritation at his implication of being a "commoner" pawn in their charade. Despite this, they explain that Hwiyoung was interesting and fun to have around. Then, the queen reveals why her son needed to make his speedy return.
"Youngkyun, your father is sick. We would've loved for you to stay out longer and learn more about our kingdom, but we need you here in case you need to step up sooner than expected."
"Why can't you remain in charge? There's no rule here about the ruler needing to be king."
His sudden question shocks everyone in the room. Eunjae stops themselves mid-step to refrain from hitting Hwiyoung upside the head. The queen's eyes widen, not expecting her usually-obedient son to respond in such a manner. The king hunches over, clenching his hand over his chest as if the slight defiance in his son's voice caused a heart attack. To Youngkyun, the air in the room tenses, but he's decided his path, and he's sticking to it.
"I understood that it's probably not your favorite choice considering all you did to prepare me for proper rule, but I do not want to become ruler. Scroy has so much to experience, and I feel like I'll be much more help in person. There are countless issues I witnessed - especially within law enforcement - from my short experience outside of the palace, and we'd never even know while holed up in our castle. If I need to live as Hwiyoung forever, that's fine. Either way, I'll be far more helpful if I remain with Eunjae and travel Scroy."
As Hwiyoung turns to Eunjae towards the end, it feels like a spark ignites in their brain as they recognize that their travel partner is the powerful friend the fortune foretold. In fact, he not only accepts his position but fights for what he believes will be best for the kingdom. They return the smile to their partner, fully ready to take on whatever challenges the world will throw at them.

I'm sorry post = sneakpeek👀
Heyy!! I guess you guys have noticed (or maybe not) that I have been pretty inactive lately. I just kinda feel down and not really inspired for sitting on a chair for 5h and write a story. It feels like no ideas come to my brain and all the ones I actually get I end up deleting them because I feel they're not as good as they must be so yeah, that's pretty much the reason why I've been more inactive than ever. My computer also kind of died which made everything a lot harder since I'm used to write on them and feel really uncomfortable writing on my phone/tablet so yeah. It's like universe got against me and made all this things happen so I couldn't be as active as I was in the very beginning of this blog.
But now that I have made my apologies and have given you guys a reason on what has been happening, I feel really bad for not updating in so long and taking so damn long to write your fav stories from my blog so here it is a small sneak peek at the works I'm trying to sort out👀
Mystic Messenger: this fic is about to finish. I guess about 3 or 4 more chapters for each member and it will be over. All I can say is that drama is about to explode as you might tell but don't worry!! I promise I'm not that bad and it won't end too bad 🤞🏻 or yes🤔
Turn Back Time: We're in a crutial moment of the story so it is kind of hard to sort it out, specially because of the time travels and all the details that need to be well planned so it makes sense, but I hope to have the new chapter by the end of this week so stay tuned!!
Break: I haven't forgotten about my fellow aroha followers!! I promise I'll keep working on this story and update soon. I have almost finished the next part so yeah, I hope I can post it at the end of this week as well or the beginning of next week
Bad Idea: Once again, I haven't forgotten about this but it will take a bit long to post this story since I have better sorted out the Love Shot fic than this one so yeah. But don't worry, I promise I'll bring it soon 🙏🏻
Love Shot: Actually, ngl this is the fic I'm most excited about. I already have all the plot and the first two chapters written so it might come out on August as I said on the Masterlist (you guys have gone insane with this fic and it hasn't even started, I really hope it fulfill your expectations). The only thing I can say is that all the Rowoon stans get ready (but please don't hate me😣)
Hero: I have been kind of forgetting about this oneshot since not much people is waiting for it but lately I've been going back to being a simp over Yechan so I might bring it soon as well. All I can say is all the walwals that follow me to get ready for a super fluff oneshot full of love and amazing OST👀
Once Upon A Crime: If you're an old follower you might remember a poll I made about this fic with Yuto from Pentagon. Well, it is kind of sorted out but still have some details I need to correct before posting the Masterlist so it might take me some time to post it.
Requests: First of all I want to say sorry to all of you who have requested since February and haven't gotten your request yet. Know that I have received it and that I haven't forgotten about you, it's just that I didn't get any good idea for writing them and I want them to be as good as you expect it to be so that's why it took me so long to write them. But still, I'll try posting them as soon as I can, promise 🤞🏻
Now is time for the fics you guys might have no idea I'm planning and I kind of need your help on this so I would be really thankful if you guys dropped by to let me know your thoughts on this.
A fic about a bodyguard, a hitman and a scammer (reader). That's all I have for now. I still haven't decided the idols that will be taking the place of the bodyguard and the hitman but I've been thinking about writing it with Sf9🤔 if you guys can recommend me who would you like to see taking those places from the group I would really appreciate it 🙏🏻❤️
A royal!AU where the reader travels in time back on the days of Korean Kingdom's. Got this idea after watching Karma and Excalibur from Kingdom and immediately thought about making it a fic (plus I've been wanting to do a Royal!AU for some time now). Here is when the problem comes: should I write it with Kingdom? Or should I write it with The Boyz? If I write it with Tbz I already have the main ideas so I could start plotting it already but if I write it with Kingdom I only have the stories of Arthur and Chiwoo so I would have to wait for the rest of the comebacks to come out so I can have all the stories 😕 If you guys know anything about what the story of the rest of the "Kings" are, please let me know, I really want to write this story with them since they're the ones giving me the main idea😭
Fortunately that's it for now😅 I know this post is pretty long but I would appreciate if you read it and if you help me out with my questions 🙏🏻🙏🏻 I hope this long ass post can slightly compensate the delay on all the updates🙏🏻❤️ I'm going to sleep now, gotta wake up at 5am tomorrow for going to visit my family finally!! I hope you have a great day/night ahead ❤️❤️ Ily!! 💙

bye bye 2020, hello 2021 !!
happy new year everyone!! there’s a lot of people i want to thank for making last year so much more bearable so i tried writing some messages for some of my dearest mutuals this year as well!! (keyword tried because i absolutely cannot put my feelings and thoughts into words. i love you all though and thank you so so so much!!!)
@angelhyunjin : angi!! i know you’re not on here anymore (actually i just found out . i ran to twt to find u as quick as i could!!) but it felt weird not?? putting you on here because you WERE a big part of my year!! i was always excited to chat with you and i rlly rlly loved (still do) seeing your art and your dance covers i can’t believe how talented at both you are!! you are really really lovely and even if it’s been a while i hope you know i still think of you and hope you’re doing well!! this year might have been hard but i hope 2021 will be much nicer to you because you definitely deserve it!! i love you!!
@cinanamon : stephie!! i think we haven’t talked in a while until we started suddenly bonding over minho but all is well that ends well because now we are the founders of a minho cult and that’s all i could hope for in life i think! we don’t talk that much but seeing your tags in all the minho posts is always a TIME i absolutely love reading them! thank you for being there to lose it over minho, always, but also for being there in general! you are really sweet and i do love to talk to u!! i also know you are a really good writer so i hope 2021 brings you lots of inspiration to write more!! (and i’ll finally catch up on your fics too! hehe) happy new year!!
@cocogoat : puppy !! i think we haven’t been friends for long actually and that sounds fake because that would mean there was a time i didn’t instinctively check your blog when i woke up in the morning (or the evening let’s be real)?? you are so! adorable and for what!!!!!! i really do love seeing you pop up in my phone notifs and reading your posts even if i dont have any idea what they’re saying half of the time unless it’s dgrp (i cannot believe i have a dgrp friend now. amazing i think i won) u are so funny and so cute and i’m really glad i got to know you because!! you’re such a nice friend that i! love! times can be hard but i hope 2021 is gentle with you because that is! what! you deserve! gentle pats and tight hugs! (maybe that’s why i associate ab6ix’s heaven with you it’s the gentle vibes) <3
@glossiers : miss bri i am in love w u that’s it. no i’m kidding that’s not it i have much more to say . i am in lov w u though #brillie2k21 i think. i think it’s been a surprisingly short time since we’ve actually started talking?? which is kinda crazy if u ask me because?? how the hell did i live my life without screaming BRIIIII whenever i see u on the dash like for real how . that sounds like a life so empty like. that would rlly be missing . something?? anyways u are a dear dear friend that i really really love and i’m sure you know that but i will keep saying it anyway! i’m sure i’m pretty annoying so thanks for putting up with me! and for talking to me! i feel like i’ve said it before but! you are a delight to see on the dash and i lovlovlov talking to u (and sending u pics of my cats, thank u for appreciating them). i still cannot believe u managed to convince yourself i was a hyeongjun stan though. hope i can be convincing enough to clear that up and leave no doubts in your brain this year. anyways i love you and i hope we can continue to be friends and talk even MORE this year!!!!!! happy new year ilu <3
@hwacinth : miss dia my sweet sweet floral nymph real life shirayuki and queen of urls! i am? so so so so so glad that we are friends you literally have my heart it is YOURS i can’t even try to claim it back!! you literally are shirayuki i don’t even know how to elaborate i think it’s just self-explanatory but you are just. such a sweet little sunshine!! it’s like you bring spring everywhere you go!! we could be in a middle of a metaphorical storm but when you appear the skies clear up and flowers bloom wherever you step and i cannot help but smile when i see you online!! thank you so so much for being my little ray of sunshine in these tough times! i hope to see even more of your posts this year!! don’t hesitate to live blog anything you watch in my dms if you feel like you’re posting too much (but i hope you never feel that way because you’re not . love seeing u live post it is absolutely amazing i won’t ever get tired of it)!! happy new year and i love you!! ps only 1 more hour until your birthday HAPPY BIRTHDAY DIA ILUUU <3 I HOPE YOU CAN HAVE A WONDERFUL ONE!! IM SENDING YOU CAKE TELEPATHICALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@hwisgf : sorinaaaa! happy new year!! we don’t talk that much but it is always nice seeing you around! you are vv sweet and i really appreciate that, thank you for taking the time to talk to me sometimes!! you are also probably my only fantasy mutual?? which is terrible on one side because i think everyone should stan sf9 but that’s besides the point . i really do love the fact that i at least have u to talk to abt sf9 if need and i LOVE seeing u in love with hwi it is absolutely amazing. i am forever grateful for all the free hwi pics days too!! <3 i hope 2021 can be a year full of happiness for you!! @inkigayeo : miss vivi galaxy brain happy new year!! we only started talking recently but u do have my heart already!! i hope this year treats you well and that we can get to know each other more and be friends hehe!!!! <3 (my other wish is for u to stop breaking my heart with those fake titles. please . why should san NOT come back explain yourself .)
@jeongcheols : mimi . mimi mimi mimi im literally typing this as u are listening to that ten n dj stage ok now it’s kai ok anyways . ANYWAYS i am loving your sm concert live commentary . criminal is sounding amazing taemin is insane indeed (yes i took a break before coming back to writing this) i truly don’t know what to say?? n i have to keep watching the time so that i can scream HAPPY NEW YEAR into the mic in 14 minutes. but like?? i love you?? like. like for real i don’t know what i would’ve done without you?? also it’s weird writing this for tumblr instead of just in your messages (also i can’t focus with idea playing. idea soty). and i mean. you technically know all of this but like?? i can’t believe we’ve known each other for so long but also such a short time at the same time like. what. thank you for being my bestestest friend and my soulmat i don’t think i would’ve been able to remain sane this year (and last year too honestly) if it wasn’t for you?? thank you for always listening to my incoherent rants and i’m always so sorry for spamming you while you’re asleep i know you must wake up to like 150+ messages with absolutely no connection between them and they’re all just so random i truly don’t know how you manage to not get annoyed and to just stay with me all this time i’m- getting emotional. you had a terrible year, i know it! i really do!! and while it might not be looking too bright right now, i hope the universe hears me and treats you much better in 2021 because!! you deserve so much more!! you deserve the world, really!!! i love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (i would write more really but like what is there to say literally i’m just (your emoji)) i love you for real;;
@nakyngs : ele <3 happy new year!!!!!! we haven’t talked much this year but i do think of u a lot daily i hope you know that!! and i love u a lot! even if i still need to catch up on all your aus </3 i hope 2021 can be a fun and stress-free year for you!! and we should catch up sometime too!! ps i hope your fish are ok
@ncityzen : dear spring fairy!! i already sent you a new year’s message earlier today like what. 6 hours ago but! once again!! i really do hope you can leave the hard times behind in 2020 and only get the best things possible this new year!! i’m always very happy to see you appear on my dash and curious to see your life updates and your random literature-related mini-rants in the tags they are always very interesting to see!! so! hoping to see even more of that this year <3 i hope you know that i love you and i really care about you!!
@woojjongs : MISS IRI! i am screaming this very loud so hopefully u can hear me all the way in canada! okay i had to leave this one for last because i?? don’t really know how to start i’m just a pink glittery puddle with lil hearts flowing in it that is how i feel towards u right now . how does one think and how does one write down their thoughts coherently give me a second. this is going to be a mess maybe u shouldn’t read it (‘accidentally’ forgets to tag u). just know that i decided to play txt’s wishlist to write this and u might be confused by that but all u need to know is that it means i love you very much. OKAY so miss iri you are . such a wonderful pal i truly don’t know what i would’ve done without you like . it would feel so weird not seeing you around tumblr would be so so so so empty i don’t even think you can begin to imagine how empty i’d feel without you around here ksdjbskbds i absolutely adore you but we already knew that. i’m always super excited to see your gifsets and your nonsense!! be it your love for woojong or u missing lim jimin (play m.. 🔪) or your snoo brainrot or hating literally anyone on smtm or whatever else it might be i love it all!! you are so cute and adorable and talented and sweet and funny i cannot believe you also happen to be the prettiest person on earth too. how does that feel! anyways i love you so so so so so much? i keep telling you to hold back from committing crimes but i absolutely WOULD commit a crime for u i really do adore you!! i mean . how many groups did u make me stan . On the King's Cross train station on your very first day, you almost missed the train because your dad absolutely wanted to take the best pic of his precious kid going to the mythic Hogwarts school.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿ฺ
After learning Alohomora in charms class, you wandered in the castle to find a forbidden office to open and what better one than the caretaker’s where a whole lot of interesting things was stored?
There, you found a few dungbombs that Jisung subtilized, confiscated brooms and chains. A lot of highly polished chains hung on the walls.
“I understand why he doesn’t stay in here often.” You snorted and returned to your inspection. In a dusty cabinet named “Confiscated and Highly Dangerous”, you found an old piece of blank parchment. It was mysteriously well conserved taking into account where it was so you put it in your pocket. Further inspection will be done to know how a simple parchment could be highly dangerous.
“I’m kinda disappointed. Sure we’ll use the dungbombs wisely but I thought there was more interesting treasures.”
“Don’t be so down yet, I found a mystery to resolve. Let’s go before we get caught.”
Fortunately, you didn’t get caught. You both went to your common room, being a quiet place with almost none students at this hour.
One day, on your way to the lake after lunch, Gryffindor Jaemin called your name so you stopped in your track and waited for him to join you.
“Hey, Y/N, I was wondering if you would like to study with me after class? For transfiguration.”
Uh. Jaemin has never been your friend and the most he ever said to you before now was “Get out of my way, filthy Slytherin” the second day of your first year. Therefore you were startled to say the least.
He joined you and you smiled to him before intertwining fingers.
The next day, Jisung and you were sunbathing with a nice autumn breeze on a bench in the courtyard when someone came in front of you, preventing the sun to warm your face.
I rejected you cause I’m not interested in you, period.
Jisung took your hand and ran through the corridors, hearing the professor yelling she would remove 20 points from his house.
You managed to catch your breath while Jisung was answering an easy riddle -for him- to enter the Ravenclaw common room.
“I can’t believe you really did it.”
“He challenged me! You know I can’t say no to that,” Jisung sighed.
“I know. That was brilliant, by the way.” You sat on one of the comfortable chairs like you lived there -it wasn’t totally false- and you were followed by your partner-in-crime.
“Thanks! I practised this one a lot, I couldn’t wait to use it for real.”
“How much?”
“What do you mean?” Jisung's innocent act didn’t work since the second time he used it but he was still trying three years later.
“20.” Seungmin gave Jisung a look and he shrugged.
There’s still a lot of rules Y/N and I didn’t break yet, so much adventures and exciting moments to live.” Jisung smiled widely at you while Seungmin implored you with his eyes to stop him.
“OSCAUSI? Jisung, are you crazy?” Seungmin got up so fast he startled everyone.
“Don’t worry, he got his mouth back,” Jisung waved his hand with indifference, Jaemin deserved it after all.
“You’re going to be the death of me, really.” Jisung and Chani just laughed at that and Jaemin unofficially became your target for a lot of future mischiefs.

“I haven’t lost any points in days, maybe I should start to pay attention in arithmancy class.”
It was this time of the year where the air was so cold you just stayed in your or Jisung’s common room and studied to prevent boredom.
Jisung pulled his robe hood over his head and slapped you in the back of the head. “Transfigure this quill into a rat and put it onto Jaemin’s head.”
“I mean, yeah, that’s a funnier idea.”
You lost 10 points for it but you found it so fun you were back on track until the next cold day.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿ฺ
It made Jisung flinch but when doesn’t he.
Bless the marauder's map in those moments.

You always followed Jisung at his trainings, it was the only moments he wasn’t trying to break the rules.

You tried to comfort him but he was like frozen.
The professor, not giving a care about what was happening in front of his face, decided to show some photos of acromentulas and as if it didn’t trigger Jisung enough, he eventually showed a real one on a big cage. From what you’ve seen on your books, it was nearly a teen so it wasn’t that big compared of his adult size but it was still big enough to scare the hell out of Jisung.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿ฺ
His hair slowly stood on end, recognizing the hair-rising potion but it wasn’t all, it also turned into candy apple red. He somehow added Colovaria to the potion and you were about to congratulate him when you got a glimpse of Minho upstairs.
“My other excuse is it was Y/N’s idea but no one buys it.”
You looked at him in disbelief. Of course no one bought it, you were more like his sidekick than the mastermind.
“Not surprising. Anyway, 15 points from Ravenclaw. I would have taken 20 but adding a transfiguration spell to a potion was really clever.”
He left before any of you could say anything. Jisung turned to you with a big smile and you high fived him. The Marauders Map prevented incidents like this and he wasn’t near here when you last checked the Map, Minho literally came out of nowhere.
(っ◔◡◔)っ ✿ฺ
On a fine and warm day, as Jisung and you successfully pranked Jaemin for the umpteenth time that year, he turned to you still laughing.
“You know what’s the strength of a duet? It’s to be two.”
“Thank you for your encouraging words. I now know you need me.”
The laughter slowly died down and the atmosphere became somehow serious. He sat on a bench and you joined him.
“You kidding?

Prologue | I | III

“Have you seen the gift I left for you?”
“Gift? What gift? Who is this?”
“In Dosan Park. I worked very hard on that body, which I’m sure you will see on the news soon. The police already suspects you and your brothers are the killers, as if you all could ever create such a masterpiece.”
Everyone startles at the man’s words, and Inseong wastes no time in pulling up the news feed on another monitor. It’s muted, and they can’t hear what the reporter is saying, but the image that appears of the body for a nanosecond is all they needed to see. There’s something familiar about the victim, Inseong notes, but he can’t say anything, not while whoever it is on the other line thinks they’re talking to Youngbin only.
“Who are you and what do you fucking want?!” Youngbin is angry to say the least. Word of the dead body is going to spread quickly, both through the general public and the Underground, and that’s going to create a whole lot of problems for them. Problems that Youngbin really didn’t need at the moment.
“Tsk. Be patient. That’s only the first of many gifts to come, unless you join my game and win of course.”
“And why would I?”
“Simple. I highly doubt you’ll let someone else die, though I suggest you act quickly because if not another body will be delivered to your territory in three days and I can promise you that it will be worse than this one. Maybe it will be someone you know.”
The last sentence strikes a chord in Youngbin, and the blood in his veins boil as the anger spreads throughout his body. Though the man doesn’t specify, Youngbin knows it’s a threat directed at his brothers, because his brothers are all he knows, and Youngbin will not tolerate some shit head trying to come for his family.
“Listen you fucker, I swear to-”
“That’s not the answer I’m looking for.”
Youngbin stops, and he stares at the faces around him, all sharing the same look of determination. A subtle nod from each of the boys is enough to change Youngbin’s mind. He knows they’ll catch the guy so for now, he’ll play along.
“Fine. I’ll play this stupid game of yours.”
“Excellent! It is quite the honor having the Red Dragons play.”
“So what now huh?”
“Now? Now it’s your move Kim Youngbin. Who’s going to die next?”
The line cuts before Youngbin has the chance to respond, his grip tightening on the device. How dare this asshole? Who does he think he is? Youngbin sets his phone down before he can break it and turns towards Inseong. “Anything?”
“It was a disposable phone. I was able to trace the signal to the nearest cell tower it bounced off of and it looks like he’s somewhere northeast of Dosan Park, right along the Han River but I can’t get much more than that. He probably busted the thing as soon as he hung up and trashed it.” Inseong frowned. He hated it when things like this happened, when he couldn’t get the information he wanted even though it should be so easy to. “I’ll bring up footage from any cameras in the area, see if I can maybe find some shady looking guy in the park. For now, we gotta look at the news.”
Inseong turns the volume on and they all lean closer as he plays back the news. The reporter is talking about the discovery of the body at the park, and how the police have little information to give to the public at the moment. The brief glimpse of the body wasn’t enough, so Inseong taps away until he’s successfully in the Agency’s database. The Seoul Metropolitan Police really need to encrypt their stuff better, he thinks as he waits for the images to come through. Sure enough, within minutes, photos of the crime scene have already been scanned into the system and Inseong enlarges them, the corpse on full display for all of them to see.
A young woman, most likely in her early twenties, stares up into the sky with a blank expression, her eyes dull. Clean lines were made at her throat and wrists, though no blood flowed. It was almost as if the blood had been drained prior to her body being disposed there. There were several open wounds on her head, as if she had suffered multiple blows from a blunt object, yet even those wounds had been carefully cleaned. The corpse itself still looked presentable, with little signs of decomposition.
Inseong is frowning again, and then it finally clicks, why there’s something so familiar about the girl. He jerks in his chair, startling everyone around him. He frantically searches his desk, pushing aside papers and various knick knacks that he collects. He’d just had the folder in his hands, and curses at himself for losing it in such a short time period.
“Shit Inseong what is it?” Dawon is the first to recover from the shock of Inseong’s sudden behavior.
“The victim. She’s the missing gi-this girl.” Inseong finally finds the folder Youngbin had given him earlier and opens it for everyone to see. “The missing persons case Youngbin wanted me to look into tonight just so happens to be the murder victim our mystery man left us as a ‘gift’. That can’t be just a coincidence. There’s no way.”
Youngbin frowns, displeased with the direction this was going. “Rowoon how did you get a hold of this case from the Agency?”
“I went to go see my dad as per usual to get updates. He’s still clueless as ever by the way.” Rowoon assures them. Even though Rowoon had decided to leave the academy, he still managed to convince his father to allow him to assist on cases under the pretense that he was ‘thinking about coming back’ when in reality, Rowoon was purely interested in obtaining police information on the Red Dragons and the other gangs. He was also still trying to find a way to connect his father to the death of Zuho’s father, though that was proving to be difficult. “Anyways he sent me to the files room to put away a case that was recently closed and while I was walking to the room I overheard two detectives talking about a girl that went missing on our turf. Naturally they thought it was us so as soon as I put the file away I was going to try to eavesdrop on them some more.”
Rowoon stops, frowning as he recalls the events from earlier that day. “It was kind of weird, now that I think about it. As I was leaving the room I noticed a file on the table by the door. Everyone uses that table to read files so I thought maybe someone left it there by accident. I was going to put it back in one of the boxes but when I opened it I saw her. That folder is labeled as a copy so it’s not the original one. Figured it was okay to take it and have you look at it.”
“So you mean to tell me that this specific folder just so happened to be sitting on top of a table where you would see it at the exact moment you did, and that this girl in this folder, turns out to be the dead girl that guy leaves for us? Dude that’s some scary shit.” Dawon shudders.
“No kidding…” Hwiyoung says in response.
Moments pass as each of the boys take their own time in comprehending the situation. Though no one spoke, each wondered what exactly would happen in three days. Would another body be dumped? They agreed to play the game but where do they go from here? There were too many unknown variables, too many questions without answers. Chani was the first to break the silence.
“The guy said that another body would show up in three days, and that it could be someone we know. Do you guys think it’s going to be one of us?” Chani nearly whispers, arms hugging himself as he looks up at them. His eyes cloud over as an all too painful memory flashes through his mind.
A single gunshot echoed throughout the house, followed by the sound of his mother’s sobs as she called out his father’s name. There was no response, and Chani felt his chest tighten as tears formed in his eyes. A second gunshot followed, and suddenly Chani couldn’t hear his mother’s voice anymore.
“Search the house for the kid.” A man orders and Chani squeezed his eyes shut, hugging his knees to his chest as he rocked back and forth slowly. Someone’s whimpering, and Chani realizes it’s coming from him, but he can’t bring himself to stop. It hurts. Everything hurts. His parents are either dead or are bleeding to death and he’s sitting here in his closet like a fucking coward.
Hwiyoung.
He needs Hwiyoung.
His hands are shaking as he unlocks his phone, and it takes him several tries before he can successfully dial Hwiyoung’s number. He turns down the volume even though Hwiyoung is a quiet speaker, because he’s so afraid of being heard. He peaks through the tiny gap between his closet doors, eyes locked on the door on the opposite side of the room. He can hear footsteps outside as the strangers search his home. After a few rings Hwiyoung finally answers.
“Chani! I was about to call you actually. I’m on my way over now with that video game you wanted.” Hwiyoung happily answers.
“Hwi-Hwiyoung.” Chani whimpers, his tears falling freely at the sound of Hwiyoung’s voice.
“Chani what’s wrong.” Hwiyoung’s tone changes as he tells the driver to hurry.
“There’s-there’s people here Hwi. They shot my parents and they’re looking for me.”
“I’ll be there in two minutes, just stay on the phone with me.”
“Why is this happening to me?” Chani presses himself further against the back wall of his closet as the footsteps get louder. “Hwiyoung they’re coming into my room!”
“Stay quiet. I’m almost there I promise.”
Chani jerks in his spot as the door burst open, three men piling into his room. They immediately search the room, one man checking under the bed as another goes through the contents of his desk. The third man is eyeing the closet and Chani is praying to whatever power exists above for the man to ignore it. He covers his mouth with his hand, trying to control his breathing as the man steps towards him. His phone is still pressed against his ear, and Chani thinks he hears the sound of a car door opening and closing, but he’s far too focused on the man who is now standing right in front of his closet.
“Well look who we have we here boys.”
Chani yelps as the man pulls open the doors and he fights, he fights so hard as the man forcefully drags him out, an iron grip on his arm. He knows he can’t take on all three but he has to try. He doesn’t know what they want, but as they drag him out of his room Chani is horrified by the possibility that they want him alive for some reason he can’t fathom.
They’re in the living room now, and the smell of blood hits him full force. His eyes are stuck on the corpses of his parents, their lifeless eyes staring up at him. Chani doesn’t move; he can’t. It’s like his body is rooted to the ground where he stands, and he knows the men are shouting at him, pushing him, but his eyes remained fixed on the bodies. The single gunshot to each of their heads: execution style, the blood pooling on the floor.
Chani stares for what seems like an eternity. He doesn’t notice when the men stop pushing, nor does he notice his front door swinging open as Hwiyoung enters his house. He doesn’t hear the shouting, or the cursing, but he hears the gunshots, and just like that Chani is on the floor, hands pressed tightly against his ears and he screams. He screams over and over, eyes shut tight as he begs for his parents to wake up even though he knows they won’t. A pair of arms wrap around his shoulders and he thrashes about, this time screaming out Hwiyoung’s name as he struggles against the person.
“Chani! Chani stop it’s me! It’s Hwiyoung! They can’t hurt you anymore!” Hwiyoung maneuvers his body so that he’s facing Chani, and he cups the other’s face in his hands. “Chani look at me!”
Chani is having a hard time breathing as he slowly opens his eyes, blinking through his tears as he looks at the one person he needed the most staring back at him. There’s specks of blood on his face and shirt and Chani panics as he grips Hwiyoung’s arms. “Hwi the blood-”
“It’s not mine.” Hwiyoung answers quickly, and he holds Chani’s face firmly in place when the other attempts to move. “Don’t look. Let’s just go.”
“Go where?”
“Someplace safe. I’ll-I’ll call Taeyang.” Hwiyoung helps the younger boy stand, and guides him out of the house carefully, trying his best to block the other’s view so he wouldn’t have to see anymore dead bodies. As they step through the door, one of the men coughs as he spits out his last words.
“We will find you Chanhee. We’ll come back, and we’ll find you.”
“Chani? Chani!” Hwiyoung stares at his friend in concern, knowing what must be going through the other’s mind. He puts his arm around the other, wishing more than anything that he could make Chani forget what he saw that day, or that he could somehow bear his burden instead. He hates seeing Chani like this, he hates that he hadn’t gotten to his house sooner.
“Huh? Oh sorry. I was just thinking about you know...that.”
“Chanhee.” Youngbin’s voice is firm as he speaks. “I promise you that nothing is going to happen to you, or any of us. I’m not going to let some asshole get anywhere near you, do you understand?”
“But what if it’s them? What if they finally figured out I’m hiding here with you guys? You could all get hurt too I-”
“Even if it is them, I’d like to see them try and get past me.” Youngbin cuts the young boy off, stepping forward to rest his hands on the other’s shoulders. “You’re family, and I’ll do whatever I have to do to keep you safe and alive. You know what? I hope it’s the same people who killed your parents, so I can make them suffer and feel the pain they made you feel years ago. I’m going to make them wish they had never heard of your name to begin with.”
There’s a fire in Youngbin’s eyes and Chani knows that beneath the surface his anger is bubbling, ready to break through. He takes a deep breath and nods slowly, before diving forward and embracing the elder in a hug. Youngbin is surprised, since the younger was never one to initiate skinship, but he doesn’t hesitate to return the hug when he notices how badly Chani is shaking.
“Oi, Youngbin.” Dawon speaks up. “Don’t keep all the fun to yourself. I’d like to throw in a punch or two, or twenty.”
“Get in line Dawon.” Hwiyoung says. “I’ve got unfinished business with them.”
“I’m pretty sure we all do.” Jaeyoon adds, and everyone agrees. To come for one of them means to come for all of them, and everyone knows the Red Dragons don’t take too kindly to threats directed at their own. Silence settles around them as Youngbin continues to comfort Chani. It had taken a long time before Chani had opened up and told them all what happened that day, and since then they’ve all been wary, waiting, wondering if and when those men would come back. They’d all spoken one night when the youngest had fallen asleep early, agreeing to do whatever was necessary to protect him.
“Let’s get some sleep everyone.” Youngbin finally says once Chani has stopped shaking. “I want all of us to be well rested for tomorrow. We’re going to find the asshole and end his game.”
There’s murmurs of agreement and everyone moves into the living room. Tonight Youngbin decides it’s best if they all camp out in the living room instead of their rooms and no one disagrees. There’s a mass of blankets and pillows everywhere, with Inseong on one couch and Youngbin on the adjacent one. The others are curled up on the floor, with Chani in the middle as they all settle down to sleep. Youngbin doesn’t miss the pistol that Dawon slips under his pillow, or the switchblade that Rowoon slides under his. He doesn’t miss how Zuho is getting ready to sleep with brass knuckles on his right hand or how Taeyang has his bat above his pillow, easily within arms’ reach. Youngbin has his own gun by his side, ready for the worst.
He raises an eyebrow when he notices Inseong opening his laptop. “Aren’t you going to sleep?”
“Aren’t you?”
“I’m keeping watch.”
“Then I’m keeping watch with you. What kind of second in command would I be if I left you awake by yourself?” Inseong flashes a small smile at the other, before turning back to his laptop. “Besides I want to see if I can find out anything else about that girl. Maybe there’s something new in the police files that might give me a lead on that guy.”
There’s no response from the other and Inseong looks up from his screen, half expecting to see Youngbin asleep. Instead the latter is focused on the entangled mess of bodies on the floor, from which soft snores could be heard. More specifically, he’s looking at Chani, who is curled up between Jaeyoon and Hwiyoung. The youngest is frowning in his sleep and Inseong figures it must be from the memories that have resurfaced.
“It’s starting again. He’s doing the hand holding thing.” Youngbin says.
“It took him so long to forget.” Inseong murmurs. When Hwiyoung and Chani had first arrived at their home, led in by Taeyang, the youngest had been shaking so badly. Inseong had initially planned on scolding Taeyang for bringing kids to their home of all places, but one look at the two boys, one who had blood on his clothes and the other who clung onto him like a lifeline, and Inseong knew he couldn’t turn them away. He’d gotten Youngbin immediately of course, and the two of them discussed at length what to do about the situation.
Taeyang had told them what he knew about the two, and begged Youngbin to help them. Inseong knew though, that Youngbin’s heart and mind had already come to a decision. Youngbin had sent Taeyang out to gather the others while he and Inseong remained at home to watch over them. Inseong still remembers that first night, and he doubts he’ll ever forget it.
“Inseong they’re kids. They need our help.”
“I know Youngbin, but do you really want them to be a part of this kind of life? Our life?”
“If we turn them away, if we put them back out there against whoever it was that did that to them, are we no better than the monsters we claim to kill?”
“I know you’re right but...I just don’t want this to be their only option. I don’t want this to be all that they have left. Involving them in our business might put them in more danger, hell it might even expose them to the assholes who hurt them in the first place!”
“This happened to us because of ‘business’.” A soft, yet firm voice had interrupted the two, and Youngbin did not hesitate to pull out his pistol and shove Inseong behind him. “Wait stop please!”
It was the boy with the blood on his shirt, his hands raised in the air. “Please no guns. Chani-Chani’s going to freak out if he sees one right now.”
“What’s your name kid and what did you mean by ‘business’?” Youngbin asked, lowering his weapon as Inseong stepped forward.
“Hwiyoung, and I’m talking about gangs or the mafia or whatever it is you call it. I-I did business with one and I think it’s my fault this happened.” Hwiyoung clears his throat after speaking, and Inseong knows it’s to fight back the sobs that want to come out.
“Do you remember which gang?” Inseong questions.
“I-no I don’t. They never really gave me the name of their group. I’d rather not talk about this right now, please. I just want to help Chani.”
“Kid we can’t help you unless you tell us everything. I could have Inseong here look you up in the system, but I doubt you want us to see your whole life.”
“I didn’t want to work for this gang okay? It just sort of happened. They...blackmailed me into doing stuff, and the one time I didn’t do a job Chani gets hurt the day after? It can’t be a coincidence right?”
“We’ll look into it, but tell us what happened.” Youngbin demands.
“Chani’s parents are dead.” Hwiyoung looks up at them, and Inseong sees just how broken the young boy is. “Please don’t make me say anything else. Just, not right now.”
Youngbin opened his mouth to respond, but a scream from the living room had them all running. The other boy, Chani, was sitting up on the couch, eyes wide and teary as he looked around. Upon seeing Hwiyoung he all but jumped on the other. “Hwi I thought you were gone too.”
“I’m not going anywhere. I just went to talk to these guys for a little bit. They’re Taeyang’s friends so they’re nice I promise.”
“Hey, Chani right?” Youngbin’s voice is softer now as he looks at the boy in front of him. “I’m Youngbin, and this is Inseong. Taeyang told us something bad happened, but you don’t have to tell us if you don’t want to. You and Hwiyoung can stay with us until we can make sure it’s safe for the two of you to go home.”
“Mister?” Chani’s own voice is a whisper. “What if I don’t have a home anymore?”
“Then this can be your new home. For both of you.”
Inseong recalls how, the first year after that night, Chani would always wake up screaming from his nightmares, and Hwiyoung would be the only one who could calm him down. It’d gotten to the point where Hwiyoung would sleep in the same bed as the younger, and hold his hand to reassure him that he’d be there when Chani woke up. Gradually, as time passed, Chani told them everything and began his own recovery. He hasn’t had a nightmare in almost three years, nor has he had to hold Hwiyoung’s hand in just as long, yet this one phone call from some douche had been enough to set him back to square one. A small whine escapes Chani’s lips as he frowns even more, his hand subconsciously squeezing Hwiyoung’s.
“Inseong.”
“Yeah?” Inseong looks away from the boys, and takes a deep breath to recollect himself as he turns towards Youngbin.
“We need to end this tonight, for Chani and Hwiyoung. Clear out any jobs the others were supposed to have today. We’re all going to Octagon tonight.”
“What for?” Inseong asks, even though part of him already knew what the answer would be.
“To meet with Seven Star.”

Lawyer!Woozi
Requested by anon: Woozi for lawyer!au Hehe thanks!
This was one of the more popular choices when yall voted! I was sure that woozi aus weren’t that popular but my street musician au blew up?? as did this au when people voted??? ever since i made this blog you guys have never ceased to amaze me I LOVE YOU ALL!!! I HOPE YOU ENJOY THIS PIECE FROM YOUR FAV MOM!!!
warnings: a Manly Jihoon that turns into a Blushy Jihoon with bad jokes
Ok yall im in mock trial so this is some real legit stuffz but i don’t know everything so it’s obviously not completely accurate!
This au got quite a lot of votes, a lot more than i expected
Here we will explore the concept of Manly Jihoon
Let’s get moving!!!!!
You’ve been in your current law firm for a few years now
You ain’t even an attorney you just file papers rip
You’re like i am s O D ON E with this job hahahah :)))))
Your office job is like the typical ones you hear about that make you wanna yawn bc they’re just sO B OR I N G
#savereader2k17
Additionally to your office job, you’re also lowkey a personal assistant for the one and only,,,,,,
You guessed it
Lee Jihoon
The bEST of the best attorneys ever to exist, at least for the defense
We’re talking about high-scale crimes that you would only imagine happening, like big scandalous murder cases in mystery novels and movies
And he always,,,,, aLW A YZZ,,,, wins the case no joke
The last case he worked on took literally months and the trial for it w A S O IN TE N S E HOLY CRAP
You: wow i would so not wanna be that witness on the stand rn
The guy spits out objections left and right and usually the opposing attorney would be almost up to par on his level but we all know jihoon is gonna miss u with that bs
He indirectly tore apart the attorneys on tOP OF SHREDDING APART THE WITNESSES W O W
Bc of this you know exactly how intense and firm jihoon is when it comes to his work
The day he asked you to be his personal assistant may or may not have made you wanna pee in your pants
The most intimidating guy just asked you to be around him more often than you were supposed to, which is never???? um u have an office job????
“Look you seem to be the most trustworthy person here. Like i don’t even trust soonyoung and he’s my fellow coworker for this case” yes it’s bc he trusts you nOT liKE He hAS A CR us H On yO U NO OFC NO T
“hE Y I HE A RD THAT”
“See what i mean??? Always eavesdropping smh”
#letsoonyounglive2k17
Soonyoung: ok,,, if that’s how you wanna play jihoon,,,, you think you’re such a hOtShOt,,,,,,
You: jihoon wheRE DID THAT GUITAR CO M E FROM WE ARE AT A LAW FIRM
Since he’s perfectly aware he’s asking you to do something out of your way that is not part of your job he is willing to actually pay you
You’re lowkey thinking about just being his assistant bc the pay he gives you is lowkey higher than your actual salary rIP IM SORRY READER YOU DESERVE BETTER
For the most part you fetch him his daily coffee and help him file more papers jesus
But this guy is busy 25/8 so you’re on your feet a l o t
“y/n where’s the file i told you to create for brian?”
“y/n can you hand me the case book”
“File this in with the evidence”
“Take a look at the errata and cross these sections out”
You are doing a lot of the tiny things jihoon just doesn’t have time to other than the bulk of the case
You’re like oh de ar,,,, this is my office job 2.0 but i’m moving around more
You’re a little overwhelmed bc you’re experiencing firsthand how serious jihoon’s job is and it isn’t just about objecting to the opposing side
Figuring out how to word your questions so you don’t get objected to is by far the hardest part
Sometimes he would even ask you for advice just for some insight from an outside party
You don’t know every single thing about the law so he explains some of it to you but he’s actually like o H My gOD THEY’RE SO CUTE
“Jihoon what does hearsay mean?”
Jihoon: *combusts* “lol well it’s pretty simple,,,,”
When you’re too busy filing papers and doing other tasks, you are completely oblivious to the little glances he spares your wa Y JESUS
He would be like o m g how does one make crossing things out look sO G O OD
You look up and he pretends he’s reading the case book i fucken see u jihoon
But you don’t and you just resume your work
The biggest case he’s ever worked on is gonna be put to the test
The trial for it is the next day and jihoon is usually the epitome of calm and collected
But when you show up to his office with his coffee he doesn’t even notice you coming in and is running back and forth
“Jihoon??? I have your coffee if you,, still want it,,, you look a lil busy”
“Oh y/n thank you just set it down over there on the table”
As you put it down on his desk you glance around the room and it looks like a tornado came in and turned the room upside down
You don’t wanna pry and be in his way but you’re also like where is the relaxed jihoon from yesterday????
You’re like um,,, is,,, is everything ok??
And he stops for a second to catch his breath and you’re like pL S DON’T YELL AT ME
Shockingly he just sighs
“I reread the case book last night and i caught something pretty strange,,,, and i’ve been trying to dig up more about it in the other witnesses’ testimonies to find anything that slipped”
You’re like oh jesus that sounds stressful but i will be here to help you!!11!!
jihoon is trying to keep his fanboy in check but hOW CAN HE IF YOU’RE BEING THIS CUTE
“Ah..haha… that’s very considerate of you. Actually,,, maybe you can help me”
You’re liKE WHAT OMG THE LEGENDARY JIHOON IS ASKING ME,,,, A NOBODY WITH AN OFFICE JOB,,,, FOR HELP?????
You must have been gawking at him with your mouth open bc he’s like is it that shocking i need help
You shake your head “n-no!!! Tell me what it is GO LISTEN TO THIS BY SF9 BYE and i’ll do it”
And he’s like ,,,,,,,,,,,,, i knew i liked you for a reason -- i mE A N OK PLS GO THROUGH THE TESTIMONIES FOR ME
And you spend a few more hours helping him out
You’ve never seen jihoon this frazzled and it kinda makes you freaked out too bc if he ain’t calm how can you be
You guys finally finish and he lets out a huge breath of relief
“I think,,,, we did it,,,, they can’t weasel out of this!!!”
“That’s good i’m glad i was able to help!!!”
“Yes we make a good team :)”
And yO U’RE LIKE OH,,,,, OMG
“cAN U PLS STOP STARING AT ME LIKE THAT I’M NOT AN EMOTIONLESS ROBOT”
“Well……………….”
“Wow i’m offended????? Is that what you think of me???????????”
“nO I WAS JOKING I Love how passionate you are about your work and really admire you for always being able to set your mind to something and doing it”
Jihoon is shook to say the least
No one has ever said that to him despite his huge success as an attorney
People compliment him on his work yes but it’s superficial and only empty words
Everyone is always reluctant to actually talk to him bc he’s always so cold and work-oriented
He can see the floating halo above your head
It takes him a while to say something bc now it’s his turn to stare
There’s a strange air of intimacy and you’re trying to control your cheeks from flaring red under his gaze
You suddenly notice how long his eyelashes are--
wAIT STOP YOU DON’T LIKE JIHOON AHAHHA WHAAAAT NOPE
“Did,,, i say something funny?”
“No,,,, not at all,,,,, thank you. That means a lot to me.”
Alert the reader is melting emergency alert
“Would you,,, like to come watch tomorrow?”
You really want to but,,,, your office job,,,,, stacks of papers are piling up on your desk
He senses your hesitance and is like i’ll let your boss know it’s to help me out
You’re like uh does that actually work
“He loves me ok this firm would be in the ground let’s be real”
You: well he ain’t wrong
“Ok well,,,, as long as it’s alright,,,,,, I have to see it through the end with you!!”
Jihoon: i am def gonna need 2 win
The following night comes too soon and you’re in the audience with bated breath
As soon as jihoon announces himself the atmosphere instantly shifts
The opposing attorneys seem to be unfazed and it’s a harsh battle between defense and prosecution
Jihoon brings up the newly found loophole and you can see the witness be like o cr a p gudbyez
And the attorney tries to save their witness during Redirect but even you thought their reputation was ruined
Jihoon is All Smirks for the rest of the trial
As it comes to an end after many many hours, the judge finally speaks about the verdict
And yAY YOUR WITNESS IS NOT GUILTY JIHOON LED THE CASE TO SUCCESS WOO HOO
You wait for him outside of the building as the people are dispersing
It takes a while for him to emerge out from the doors but the second he does you’re like
“oH MY GOSH JIHOON YOU WERE AM A Z IN G!!! I KNEW YOU COULD DO IT!!!!”
He knows he’s used to hearing this but for some reason he turns sO BL US H Y
Instead of replying with his usual “oh thank you, I know” he’s avoiding your gaze
“Oh,,,, it was,,, nothing,,,,”
And you swear you can see hints of pink on his cheeks
You decide to tease him for a bit bc i mEAN THIS IS A ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY
“Omg jihoon,,, are you blushing????”
“*clears throat loudly* SUFDFSDJLFJF NO WHAT I DO N OT BLUSH we’re going to the nearest pizza parlor”
And he starts tugging your arm and you’re like wH AT I DIDNT EVEN AGREE TO THIS???
He mutters “well the least we could do is celebrate” aND YOU CAN SEE THE TIPS OF HIS EARS SUPER RED
Even in the dark you can see his embarrassment written all over him
You’re like “well this is cheesy aHAH SEE WHAT I DID THERE”
“We’re not going anymore”
“Ok i’m soRRY I WANT FOOD I’M HUNGRY”
“,,,,but not as cheesy as me using this as an excuse to ask you out”
“Well i mean -- wAIT WHAT”
And he’s looking at you expectantly and you’re just trying to Register What Happened
“Oh,,,, well,,,, i wouldn’t mind,,,,,,,,,,”
And he smiles ever so slightly my heart
“How greasy of me”
“Ok who’s the one making bad puns now”

So Dangerous || Youngbin
Group:Sf9
Member:Youngbin
Genre: Gang!Au. Mentions of death, blood, guns, drugs, Featureing: Pentagon
Word Count: 2.7 K
Requested: Could I request a YOUNGBIN GANG AU in which he saves the reader 😍?! Youngbin is boyfriend material as hell kyaaaaa
A/n. I had a awesome time writing this. Gang leader Youngbin I can imagine him omg hes like a perfect gang leader. I could have done better but the editing part made me cry so I didnt put in more writing like I wanted. It still okay to me Im a amateur writer after all. Hope you enjoy. ps I also out Pentagon as the other gang so I hope you noticed what I did there.
He was pure danger. Someone you shouldn't have ever gotten involved with in the first place.
You always wondered how you got caught by him. You didn't remember much of that night, bring home a handsome stranger. One night of intoxicating dancing that lead to you sleeping with him. Waking up to a mess a black hair with hickeys marked across your skin like petals.
Kim Youngbin. It was suppose to be a one night stand, but that was almost a year and a half ago and your still with him. A more personal relationship has developed with the gang leader.
Something you weren't proud of was getting sucked into a world of crime and money wasn't want you foreseen yourself.
Life just happens. Loving him just happened. Sitting in the empty condo you bundle yourself up in the warm blanket waiting for him to return. Youngbin has been gone for a few days while the only one to see you was little Chani updating you and going to school.
Suddenly a warm pair of lips met your head. You snapped up to see Youngbin standing behind you. "Spacing out much" your boyfriend deep chuckled, he made you smile. Looking up you locked eyes with his dark eyes. "Lots of thoughts on my mind" you smiled. Wrapping your blanket closer toward your body.
"Must be you didn't even hear the alarm" he said sliding next to you. He rolled his head against the sofa, He sighed putting on arm affectionately around you. You felt so safe in this the gang leader arms.
You noted on Youngbin normally flawless face a fresh scars, it made you assumed he recently had to do some dirty work. He still looked ever so handsome with deep black hair, long eyelashes and a small grin.
He gave a small smile noticing how your look changed "You're probably wondering how I got this" he said pointing to the fresh scar. You nodded touching his cheek the scar was fresh feeling.
"Just some business" he said, Youngbin always made that excuse its business but you didn't want for him to get hurt. "Those fucks got us good but we got them better" he said smirking a little.
"Are the boys okay" you asked him concerned. Youngbin gave a small dimple smile "Yeah nothing to serious" he said.
You sighed a breath of relief. After dating Youngbin his brothers of his gang were now becoming like your family also. Youngbin the leader but he was also like a big brother to mostly all of them, while the boys accepted you as more than just a hook up girl. Realizing that Youngbin actually held true affection for you.
"Promise me that you won’t risk to much" you said looking into his cute little droopy eyes. Those same eyes always held a sad light in them when you told him to stop. "I'm sorry" he said, you already knew he couldn't do that he had a obligation to protect his part of the city. While his brother gangs much larger than his owned the next two cities over.
"Its okay" you told your loving boyfriend running your hand down his neck, feeling him made you feel some comfort that he was alive here with you. "How about we go on a date tonight since I've been gone for a while" he said. Shaking your head yes you let out a smile.
Youngbin grinned leaning down to give you a swift kiss. His affectionate side was showing. Even though he was a scary gang leader his heart was so soft. He loved touching and affectionate kisses.
Suddenly his phone rang. He sighed, rolling his eyes. He left the comfortable position picking it up leaving the comfortable position next to you. He stepped out for a second "Sorry Y/n I have to meet Younghwa for a report" he said grabbing his jacket.
"Is the date still on" you asked leaning over to see him exit "Of course I'll text you the place" he yelled from the front door. "I love you" you said watching him leave again. Youngbin opened the door a small smile on his lips "I love you more" he said winking, leaving quickly.
You sighed alone again. The alarm confirmed that door was locked once again. You sighed looking back out the city. Excited for your date and also still missing Youngbin
You smiled at your buy. Knowing you were going a nice date tonight you decided to buy a dress that would wow Youngbin. Walking down the side streets of the city. You felt lighter than air as you enjoyed the day.
The streets were emptying a little as you got closer towards Youngbins condo. Going through the back you sighed from the long walk. You turned into the side street for a quicker short cut. Suddenly you felt something cold press against your head and someone jerk your arm.
"Please be quiet or I'll have to put a bullet into your head" he said. You went ridged at the person. "Now walk calmly to the car in front of you" he said you gulped as he grabbed your arm keeping you into a lock.
"Keep quiet and no one gets hurt" he said.
It must had been at least 5 hours since you have been kidnapped. You had been blind folded after you were thrown in the car. The drive was long so you guessed you were already outside your city and into a new one. You cried for a while, thought of death and of Youngbin sitting alone in the restaurant.
Your legs tied with tight rope while your hands twisted behind your back and were strapped together. In your mind you were freaking out you already cried a few times thinking what was going to happen to you.
You could hear people talk from behind you. "Sir is it time to call" a deep voice pipped up. You could tell you were in a warehouse. Maybe near the sea since you could hear waves around you in the distance.
The blindfold was ripped from your face to come eye level with a guy. He had short brown hair and a twisted smirk on his face.
"Lets start with introductions I'm Hui" he said grinned he stood. You stayed silent staring him down. "I said introductions" he said with a sigh pulling a gun out his strap, cocking back the gun as he lazily pointed it at you. You stared down the barrel seeing the glossy copper bullet. Your eyes widen and heart paced seeing the deadly weapon.
"I'm Y/n" you mumbled breaking eye contact with him, as tears filled your eyes once again. Wanting to feel strong but you weren't."You're Youngbin's girl aren't you" he asked. You gulped at this point realizing this wasn't really about you it was about Youngbin. "Yes" you mumbled in a defeated tone.
"We already knew that just wanted to hear it from your mouth" he laughed a little. He held your cellphone scrolling through it. "Aw look guys her background is Youngbin" he said a muffled laugh could be heard. He showed your favorite picture of him smiling wide. Some of the guys laughed at the picture.
"Okay hun I'm going to call him" he said. "Do you want me say anything specific to him" you asked quietly.
"No just say your last good byes" he said smirking. Your hear dropped at his words. Feeling bile from not eating rising up your throat. Your mind buzzed with thoughts of him taking your life. You thought about everyone your parents, your cat, and Youngbin and his boys. Not seeing them ever again would be so painful. You'll be dead so you couldn't really fell that pain. It would all just be inflicted on those you love.
He clicked a few buttons and then gave it to a tall guy and he pressed it again my ear. The dial tone was so long you were scared he wouldn't pick up for a second.
"Hello Y/n where are you I've been trying to pick call for for two hours" Youngbin voice said over the phone. "Youngbin" you said but he ignore you and kept talking "I was sitting in the restaurant for hours alone" he said angry.
“Youngbin just listen to me" you said sniffing up the coming tears. "Youngbin whatever you do don't come after me, don't risk your life" you said sniffing you looked over to see Hui watching you. "What the fuck do you mean" he asked almost yelling in the phone.
You gulped down some spit "What the fuck I mean I mean don't waste your time don't endanger the boys" you said tears slipping from your eyes. You sniffed them up wanting to wipe the tears away.
Youngbin kept talking, yelling and asking what you meant. "Are you done" Hui asked you. You looked up and him, choking out sob "I love you even more" you whispered. The phone was tossed it to Hui.
"Take her to the backroom" Hui said as he continued to talk on the phone. Feeling someone cut your legs free and push you into one of the warehouse rooms.
Youngbin clutched the phone hearing a males voice one ever so familiar. "Youngbin how are you" the voice over the phone said.
"Cut the formals what the fuck do you want" he said. Youngbin was so anxious he felt his stomach turn. The flowers bought hours before discard.
"Not much she says don't risk your life so I may kill her may not' Hui said. Youngbin gritted his teeth "You low mother fucker" he hissed.
Hui sighed gripping his gun "Money no I have money" he said. Hui sighed "Drugs maybe" he said. Hui sighed "no this is just revenge" he said.
Youngbin rolled his eyes his hand getting the ready to smash it into a wall. He knew what this was about, rights to the city. Every year Younghwa slowly took more land away from Eungkwan. As his young group under Younghwa grew it just meant that Pentagon had limited terrioty. Since the large company Cube was in a tail spin.
Rumors were that some of there gangs were leaving since they have become to weak to manage anymore.
"You can't change anything with doing this we already taken over majority of the city" Youngbin said.
"Fuck you I can and will take it over again" the voice yelled back at him. "We will slowly cut down you and Younghwa and then Hongki" he fiercely, the phone clicked ff. Youngbin sighed clutching his phone. His anxiety for what was happening to you was growing. He took a breath in trying to calm himself a bit.
He grabbed his phone and call the only person he could for help, Younghwa.
"Younghwa sir" he spoke clearly his voice was nervous as he called his leader and mentor. "Yes Youngbin" he said calmly. Youngbin sucked in some air "Those filthy fucks Pentagon took Y/n" he said. Needing advice from the experience leader was the only think he could think of right now.
"Why are you sitting here talking to me you love her get her" he said. Youngbin nodded "Yes sir" he said making another phone call to Inseong and Zuho.
You sighed trapped in a room the ropes tight on your wrist. Tears were spilling out your eyes the warm liquid sung your eyes. You were sick of crying but to afraid to try to escape.
The two men outside the room had guns with them and it room was bare with nothing but a old over head light. This was really happening any second Hui can come in here and take your life. You struggled in the ropes trying to loosen them but it didn’t work.
Its been about another hour and a half since you talked to Youngbin. You already missed him wanting to give a real goodbye. Tell him how much he means to you. How much he makes you smile until it hurts. How beautiful dangerous he was. Wanting to bundle your arms around him for a second time.
A bang filtered through the air. You cried out when you heard multiple shoots continue to glide in the warehouse "Y/n" someone said. You looked over at a small hole in the wall moved by a poster. It was Taeyang "Tae" you said eyes wide.
"Yeah Youngbin sent me to get you" he said coming over to untie you. "Youngbin" you repeated your boyfriend name. Taeyang took out his knife cutting the ropes "yeah and I heard what you said to him" he said.
"Telling him to leave you he could never do that" he said. Suddenly a guy came in pointing a gun at the both of you. Bullets could be heard from the front room still. The loud bullets were making you go deaf.
Taeyang quickly drew his gun. "Fuck" you heard Taeyang whisper grabbing your tied wrist and he pulled you behind him. He also grabbed something from his pocket.
"Kino" he said. "Taeyang" the guy said holding his glossy gun. "I would love to shoot you but I have a girl to deliver back" he said. Suddenly he threw it down, a sudden burst of gray smoke filled the room.
"Come on" he said pulling you to the fresh cut hole in the wall. The blond looked back and shot a few rounds behind himself as he came out with you.
Outside you were right you were by the sea. You almost puked seeing a cement mix looked like it was ready just for you.
Taeyang pulled you past the docks to a car. "How did Youngbin find me" you asked running with Taeyang. "Tracker he has it in everyone phone" he said.
"But don't think to much about it Youngbin is doing good right now" he said. Looking over you seen Youngbin holding his gun towards Hui head. Hui was on his knees, he looked bloody already. It also looked like Youngbin has been in a fight. With a split lip and some blood coming out of his forehead.
"I dont think you want to see this" Taeyang said pushing you into the car hiding the killing from you. Your heart thumped hard in your chest as a shot rung in the air.
You let out a shaky breath as tears filled your eyes once again. Only limited tears came out this time. You were safe in a car and not dead.
A few minutes later Youngbin opened the door of your side. His thin eyes looked over you then a small smirk graced his lips "You look good" he said you could see how visibly red his eyes were. Identical to yours.
Holding onto Youngbin you felt safe in the gang leaders arms once again. His fingers were running up and down your red wrist. Touching them slowly. Your wet hair pressed against his chest. It felt so familiar and nice.
You found out that Pentagon was mostly taken out, he did shoot Hui he might have killed him maybe not he didn't tell you. The boys were fine. You smiled as you seen them as you drove off from the warehouse. Counting them all making sure they were all alive and well. That made you smile especial.
"Your luck will run out one day bin" you said feeling his heart beat under your ear. "Not anytime soon" he responded his fingers massaged your back.
"Telling me not to save you made me kind of mad" Youngbin admitted. You sighed, It was so intimate being in his arms after the event. It was like he was washing the memories away with his touch.
"I didn't want you to get hurt" you whispered feeling almost dumb for trying to protect him. Youngbin sighed "Well never do that again and I'll forgive you" he hummed to you.
You nodded in his chest. Your legs draped across his thighs. You sighed in his touch "Youngbin" you said. He looked at you "yeah baby" he said softly.
"I'm tired" you said your eyes slowly falling close. "Its okay Ill be here to protect you" he said softly. You looked up one last time to see Youngbin handsome face till you fell asleep in his arms.
After the incident Youngbin became more protective while you became more aware of your area around you. It didn't matter the challenges that arouse you still had a hold on each other.

SF9 Crime Underworld! AU Character Profiles
This story is inspired by John Wick movie where we will see the SF9 members working as various roles from the movie. Each of them has their own love interest and this will be a story that’s connected with each other. I’m putting the mafia tag because I’m afraid not many people are aware of this kind of AU and idk what to call it other than ‘Underworld’ hahahah. Alsoo i’m not going to use “Y/N” and “You”. I’m the type that just can’t imagine myself acting in a fanfic of my favorite boys :’) Also I hope this fic can get you to watch John Wick trilogy. I highly recommend it!!

Youngbin | The Escort
chapter 1 | chapter 2 | chapter 3 | chapter 4 | chapter 5 | chapter 6 (finale)
As an adopted child of Ruska Roma, Youngbin has been living his life training to be a killer. The Director, his mother, trains him and his brothers relentlessly in the art of martial arts. Competition has always been his passion. He doesn’t let anything distract him to be someone his mother most proud of, even if it means breaking a bone or two. As the best melee fighter of his generation in the house he intends to keep it that way. Ordered by The Director to protect Junko Han from attempted assassination, Youngbin and his brother are to play the act of Junko’s escort and classmate.
Inseong | The Head Librarian
If you think New York’s public library wasn’t part of the crime, you’re wrong. Working in favor with the High Table, NY Public Library holds ancient records of all the things they have witnessed in the crime underworld and also provide safe boxes to use for all assassin’s interests. Kim Inseong is the head librarian. Exceptionally a genius for his young age, the High Table promoted him to be responsible with the library’s records and security. It is any other ordinary day until a certain dark haired woman, Jennifer, visits his library everyday. His father has had a seat in the High Table for 10 years and soon it is ready to be given for his eldest son, Kim Seok Jin. But Rowoon knows just how incapable his older brother is. How truly useless and shallow his mind to be able to lead the Blue Hornet Mafia. Yet somehow, his father doesn’t see that. He needs to take him out. It’s now or never. Knowing John Wick isn’t up for a deal, Rowoon commissioned Delphia, a high ranking assassin that has brilliant records of kill streaks and never taking no prisoners.

City of Major
Summary: Major Yoo Taeyang makes every excuse he can to see you, he likes you but unknowingly, he has also fallen into a plan intricately crafted by you and Captain Kim Youngkyun
Genre: Mystery au? [Warnings: descriptions of anxiety (fear of death; recurrent traumatic memories and cues for them to resurface whether verbal or situational; repulsion towards an individual concerning sex + the individual's involvement in a sexual crime but not the principle offender), mentions of guns, death (murder and death of another team, many witnesses), sexual assault (also referred to as rape) and physical assault (refers to the physical assault as a punishment, implications of reinforcing hierarchy in a derogatory manner) references to being dispatched in the military, result of civil wars/indirect reference to poverty]; Fluff-flu; smut (so brief that if you blink, you'll miss it)
Characters: Yoo Taeyang x reader x Hwiyoung I Kim Youngkyun
A/N: None of the images in the collage are mine, refer to here for more; For more SF9, read here, for iKON, read here and for optional bias writings, read here
As he steps outside the building and slips past the guard, the cool air becomes his. He adorns a striped shirt with subtle colours so that he does not stand out particularly in the dark, except for the occasional illumination by the streetlights over- head. His steps are light, careful not to alert the two people ahead, in this case, he makes sure to tread lightly. One eye is out on his surroundings, for stray animals or motorbikes. A third carefully watches him from the back, smiling at the unknown.
There's nothing in sight, at least for the next metre or so. Youngkyun's first time following a pair just so happens to be the two of you. One of the two is Major Yoo Taeyang, not forever defined by his numerous accomplishments but by his dutiful services to the military. The second of the two is you, never sought-after despite your unlawfulness, but penned by your achievements towards the community.
Now that Youngkyun's been drafted to this base- coincidental occurrences, not anything that either he or the Major would wish for, he can tell the truth. Some people will believe him like the higher-ups who have let their doubts about the Major's reports fester for months but wave at him when they see him. Ruthless killer. Others will doubt but come around. There's nothing Youngkyun can do now, but sit and wait on his pot of gold.
For every moment that he remains in the proximity of a place that worships an individual such as the Major, Youngkyun is reminded, very frequently of what he had to undergo whilst he was taking orders from him. He's close when you and the Major pause, right in the middle of the street as if you have done this many times before, automatically, with no fear of being interrupted. Then again, it is the place itself. It is deserted for miles with boundless high-rise buildings. Youngkyun slips into a dark corner, watching you from there. It's the side entrance to one of the buildings, two staircases to navigate in the dark.
Your safety has been on his mind since the first time you've been involved, with him, in this plan. Except him, everyone is in the right place. He is supposed to be in bed, snoring to the lull of soothing dreams. But when he remembered what was occurring today, his eyes snapped open with a blurry view of his ceiling. Half asleep and just like that, he got out of his bed and dressed in a hurry, not bothering to question the rationality of his actions.
His eyes squint to make out the figures, looking away when they meet, connecting their lips in the dark of the night. They pull apart and exchange something, most likely words of affirmation. Guiltily, he begins to move when they do. He pulls back, slithering back into the unlit corner. Further down, away from the figures, close to Youngkyun, he sees an automatic light perk on from the corner of his eyes. There are no alleyways either. So, there is someone else behind him.
Youngkyun sighs, he can't move unless whoever's following him does. He looks both ways, making sure that he doesn't lose the direction you headed in or get caught in a two-way intersection with the person behind him. Ahead is an alleyway, narrow and enclosed by two large green bins with black tops. Youngkyun makes a run for them. He looks behind as he runs, twice turning his head in caution before slipping into the small space.
He sighs when he gets there, he's locked. The bins are against the wall and he's standing in between them. It feels like he's floating, an obvious interpretation because although little light catches his figure, anybody could see him. 'I'm not great at this'., he thinks, racking his head for a solution. The figures now disappear out of sight. Not being able to crouch or look past the wall, he turns his attention to the figure that was following him.
You've left, he sighs. He also takes two steps back, quickly, out of extreme caution, instinctively raising his hands. A figure clutches the gun with both their hands, pointing it at his face. Their posture is relaxed, far from the average- not bent at the knees or directing a glare at Youngkyun. There's real fear that fills his system, freezing his legs to the ground and hands at the side, unable to reach for his gun. A hand pats his trousers and it's taken away.
The fear is much more prominent now, clutching Youngkyun's throat, squeezing it. It's more of a tug than a squeeze. A figure, enshrouded in black emerges from behind, swaying a little as it makes its way to oblivious Youngkyun. It presses into the tufts of his hair and touches the scalp. ''Don't move'' a scruffy voice says from behind him, walking to the front where Youngkyun can see him. The figure that made himself apparent never leaves his gun's aim on Youngkyun’s tummy when he clamours Youngkyun's pockets for any weapons that he may be carrying.
Youngkyun's throat runs dry and his fingers begin to tremble. He looks at the figure in front, not tearing his eyes off him. They finish, chuckling as they pocket his weaponry, only weaponry.
The one on the left has black hair, brown eyes, and wears a skin tight shirt, made from the material of gym clothes along with cargo trousers. Youngkyun knows who he is, by face not by personality. He tailed Youngkyun and his group- peeking from behind buildings, on foot rather than in a car. Everybody wanted to see the husband of an undercover cop that day. They have contacts everywhere, from the owner of the restaurant in the building to the guard sitting inside, payment to the gang in the area perhaps.
Youngkyun can take the two but is outnumbered by weapons. The figure on the right is unknown to him. His dark circles are prominent, uniform worn-out, maybe from a recent mission. Youngkyun had heard of it but they could not track them. 'Or maybe that isn't it', Youngkyun thinks. The figure is bulky and imposes his presence by towering over Youngkyun's one point seven nine metre frame. He has a scar on his chest, a diagonal line, peeking out from his shirt and an unshaven beard.
''Come with us, our-'' the one on the left speaks.
''Why'd you search me?'', Youngkyun asks.
''Formality. Our boss wishes to speak to you, over.. certain misunderstandings.''
''What misunderstandings?''
''Over Major Yoo Taeyang's report, from the next state over.'' he said, whispering the last bit.
''I can't give you that information, details are confidential.'' Youngkyun says, pushing the most terrible of memories away. They came first.
''You murdered that reporter didn't you?'' he says, predetermined, rehearsed, as if he knew that they would come to this point.
Youngkyun feels a slight chill run through his hands in the warm, damp air of the night. Sweat clouds his back, staining his top in various places. He feels cold, his blood freezing. They sound so convinced about it.
''Come on, soldier'' the one on the right impatiently grabs Youngkyun's hand, hustling him forward. He's stopped by the one on the left.
Pulling his hand from the bulky man's grasp, Youngkyun states, ''You have some misunderstandings as well. That man is dead not because of me.''
The man makes a face as if he has heard everything he needs to. ''You have all the reason in the world to deny it. Let's go.'' he says.
The gun pointed at his torso, an easy angle to just pull the trigger is only out of sight when Youngkyun sits in the car. It's classy, a contrast to the two men.
They are efficient but not by much of the standard. From hasty steps behind him to the accidental flickering of the light, everything was predictable, save for the man hiding in the pitch black of the alley. Neither of them caught him flinching then.
''You'll meet her.'' the driver says, he was the one on the left of medium height and novice, almost- professional with this new experience. Youngkyun jumps at the word her. The driver chuckles, ''Slow down, she's not enthusiastic to see you.''.
The bulky man sitting next to him speaks up, ''Just a formality.''.
Youngkyun repeats the words, staring out of the window.
The driver drops the passengers off outside a dark blue building, decorated with luxurious apartments. A ground floor apartment's lights are on and people are moving about, happily dancing and giggling to music that can be heard by Youngkyun and the ruffian man.
The two pause to stare at the scene, Youngkyun is unimpressed, motivated by other feelings but the other guy is in mock awe. They press on, the guy says nothing all the way up the three flights of stairs. They pass by an elevator each time but make no move to use it. Easier to run away if they were being shot at.
You sit in the apartment, taking in a deep, good breath after hastily preparing for Youngkyun's arrival. Youngkyun knew you way before you were indoctrinated into your family's business. You were stubborn, righteous and had a few sets of rules that you lived by, no matter what. You were also justice-loving, ironic given that your family's business wasn't selling groceries or something, it was one of gangs in the area.
Youngkyun knew that Yoo Taeyang wanted to use your family. But that's as far as he knew. It was only half the story. If you were not going to use Taeyang back, you would not hesitate to shoot him. You wouldn't kill him to honour one of your principles. That did not mean that you wouldn't harm him towards the point of death.
You proved yourself with all the experience your family could provide you with. You knew that Taeyang was climbing up ranks in his head and trying to make it reality too, by buying off your family. It went from little stocks in the business to sleeping with you, every time he had a day off. He wasn't a bad guy either, just a little narcissist with twisted values from his father.
He insisted that he had good intentions. But people committed the worst crimes in humanity with their good intentions.
The figure nodded to you, leaving Youngkyun at the door. Youngkyun was relieved to see you but that went away quite quickly. Much more was what you were wearing, night clothes. Lace loose at the shoulders fell shortly below your buttocks, another strip tied around your waist. You left the door open and turned to the living room.
He shut the door behind him, locking it, taking his shoes off and admiring the open space. There was very little in the middle except for an antique glass table on a large, comfortable rug. Plush red sofas with jewels embedded in the handles stood out against the wall, two tall glass cupboards filled with ornaments and foreign gifts from around the world were placed in the corners.
You sat on one side of the glass table with your back against the sofas while Youngkyun took the opposite, crossing his legs and placing his hands firmly on his knees. His breath stopped short when you raised your arms to remove your hair tie, letting hair fall all over your shoulders.
You noticed his eyes following your movements. You chuckled, ''What do I have for you? Is that your question.''
''Uh-yes, yes it is.'', he says, clearing his throat.
You chuckle, wondering why this nervous behaviour of his. ''Is your behaviour flighty because of those men?'', you question.
''Yes you should stop doing that. It scares me every time.'' he says, with more confidence, leaning on his palms.
''I'm sorry, maybe next time.'', you say, carefully taking into account his anxiety. ''You weren't supposed to be there today.'' you continue.
Why were you there? is the question.
''I've made my mind up. The recording? Push the date up further, today. I'll do it today.'' Youngkyun almost rambles on. He'll kill two birds with one stone today.
''You don't-'' you start. He really doesn't have to. He should take his time and prepare.
''I have to, you should now. The full story.''
You sigh, ''come with me.'', standing up and walking in the direction of your room.
Youngkyun walks past you to inspect the room, purely out of instinct. You motion with your hand and tell him to do as he pleases before he turns to you and apologises. He had this right. A surge of anxiousness overcomes him, for many reasons.
Youngkyun had been with you before and you had been there, to see him break multiple laws. Him. You were a middle ground, neither here nor there or a grey area between your rival gang and the police. You knew snippets of what Youngkyun had been through on his missions under Yoo Taeyang. You needed to hear the full perspective from him. From someone who had observed and been through it all.
Youngkyun knows that you want to help him. Nothing of semblance to push his anxiety further down the edge, like hidden cameras or audio equipment, the newest probably hidden somewhere, in something easy to look over like an ornament.
You had no ornaments in the room, except for the paintings. Painted by you, having taken over hours and hours to complete, to reach that stage of luxury. Taking a seat to calm his spinning head, he faintly clutches the rich covers underneath. They give him warmth, which he doesn't need in this weather and the urge to fall asleep on them.
You haven't moved from your place behind him, watching him search the place with inquisitive, trained eyes, meant to detect things. ''It's safe here'' you are soft about it, trying to encourage him, coax it out of him.
''He will go to jail.'', he says after a pause.
''Evidence?'', it can't be circumstantial.
''Eyewitness testimony.''
''Who?''. He is one of the witnesses.
''Can't say now.'', protecting them.
''What did he do?''. Another way of asking, How did he do it? Earn his rank plus the commendation of his seniors?
You sit next to him, holding a recorder in your hand, urging him to say it again as you begin. ''Major Yoo was the one who sent those soldiers to stop the raid of a gang on the resources held at another base. They expected them to be armed but they did not expect them to know that they were coming.''
''Where was this?''
''Past the front entrance of South Central, two blocks down.''. It didn't mean anything to you.
''Did he give those orders himself?''
''That he did.'', a preamble to all of Taeyang's troubles.
''What happened to those soldiers, Captain?''
''They died, we have reason to believe that they were ambushed. A reporter working in the area colluded with the gang, soldiers- ten individuals sent there to stop the attack on a high status official. Presumably a raid on the base's resources, had tons of it all stacked and going nowhere, not to the hungry people in the village. Major must have not known, none of them made it back because of the information he had shared with the reporter. The failure was the result of planning irresponsibly.''
''How?''
''He must have changed his report when he realised his mistake. They noticed so many people missing and investigations were open for quite some time. But Taeyang's elaborate, smart as hell, first reason he got that position, that and his capabilities in the field, calm and composed. He reported it differently, worded it in a way that allowed him to evade responsibility. It was premature, they didn't have enough information to go in in the first place but they were still sent.''.
Easier to control his wrong-doings from there, once you are high in status, people will come for you. Being high-status is also the fastest way to lose your job, if you aren't careful, you think. It is one of the cautions you are aware of as a leader.
''He's done it before.''. Youngkyun thinks. He isn't actively working on this case. They need a draft, someone to summarise it up. Surely they have asked other members of Youngkyun's team to do the same. Investigations into the Major have been conducted for sometime now. It is only now that they made themselves apparent.
''Done what?''. The closer you get to the truth, the harder it is to ask him questions. Especially given the fact that you were new to this. You didn't know what questions to ask. You wish he would just tell you everything, straight up.
''Frame someone else for his mistakes, must give him immense anxiety.''
''Anything is relevant right now.''.
''When I was under his orders, he made the mistake of replacing a code book. Going out would make it look like our country was in a pretence to the other, they had a contract or something. It was burned when we got it back, he was let off, save for his assistant.'', he clenched his teeth about. You knew about this.
''Pinned it on him?''
''I don't even know if that's possible. He had officials gloss over their reports, to cover for him because of what they believe he can achieve. To escape like that, he murdered once and he'll do it again, trust me.''
''Murder?''. You held back any visible frustrations now. Pushing him would gain nothing. ''Anything else?''
''He let go of a man from the same place as where the soldiers were killed. Committed sexual assault and homicide but Major let go of him.''
''Why is that Captain?'', you said, horrified, already unsettled, finicky, nervous at the hair tips.
''The man was protected by the gang- high in status, high enough for them to intervene and protect a life. Major could not start a war so he cut a deal, 'let go of the village and they'll release him'. All went well.''. Ironic for them to protect a life. Could it hint that there were discrepancies in the leadership?, you ask yourself but don't say anything about it.
''It's not out jurisdiction if the individual is not from here.''
''oh, but she is, was, the head of the resistance group, dual-nationality.''
''That's a lot of things to tie him for.'' you murmur, sighing at the boat-load of information.
''Tie him?'' he asks, curious. Are you considering punishing the Major by the law?, he thinks. You always did say that the law moves slower than it should.
There is no answer from you. You want to deny his question that you know he is currently asking. You could give it a try, again.
''Why were the resources held up?'', you continue.
''Take control of the resources y/n, take control of the village. Probably used it as leverage but not sure what. They don't have a lot to offer but the gang does, information on other gangs. Taking other's out would risk them gaining more power and we couldn't have that.''
''You think Taeyang has something to do with this?''
''He doesn't run the tide on that, his friend does, childhood friend. But you can't assume that she's going to help him, I know her and she wouldn't. She's got a mole in camp.''
''We'll have to come back to that.''. Human nature. It isn't even in your intention to come back to this topic. You want to know.
''I'll find out about it.''. It's a place to start, to wrap the mission up in bow tie and send it off.
''Don't get yourself into danger.'', you say, genuine about it and eager to prove him wrong. He thinks that you could care less about him. The like has always been there.
He nods, resting his head in his palms, elbows digging into his thighs. He takes your advice to heart. At this moment, he finds it harder than ever to separate you in his world from his profession. He wants you but how does he tell you about it?
''If you knew and you yourself did not die- were there groups?''
''Three, back up and because the villages are huge too. More soldiers means that work can be carried out in a time efficient manner. I wasn't in their group, one day- a day after the first four weeks were over they came and told us. They relayed the news, ''They're dead''. It was so professional, they answered the how's. It hurt y/n, it hurt all over. I wasn't in the same group as them but I ate with them, joked with them, worked with them outside of our team, together. We are one team less, y/n, one team less. That was a lot for us to think about, compartmentalise but we didn't have enough time to do it. We ended up covering for them, breaking our backs, taking orders while some bullshit went on in the background.'' Youngkyun ends it frustrated, referring to the rape and the injustice that that man was let go. Tears rim his eyes, he clenches his fists at the thoughts, recounting those painful memories.
You grasp his hand, soothingly running your finger over the clenched skin, waiting for him to relax before you pull yourself closer and take him into your arms. He tries his best not to cry right there. He lets go of his tense posture and snuggles into the warmth you have to offer which you take as a good sign.
You find yourself unhappy for him, pained rather. That he holds all of that, in there, this sensitive guy with un-coped, heavy amounts of emotional trauma at the back of his head. You feel for him. You run your fingers through his hair and kiss the side of his head, letting him go to sit up straight.
You want to say something but nothing is to be said. Words are meaningless right now. You sit in silence for some time, enduring the harsh humidity that makes your skin dry, waiting for him to snap out of it- everything, when he is ready.
'Let's go!'' Sanghyuk would have said, pulling Major Yoo towards the restaurant to ease the awkwardness they felt with him. Lee Sanghyuk was one of the few soldiers killed in the blast of gang members and weapons. Taeyang tries his best not to think about it. Better profile for lying, he thinks.
He walks alone to meet a different correspondent. The staff politely greet him but turn their heads down and ignore him. Perhaps they have heard the nasty rumours about him. He finds you sitting on the far side, right in the corner, wedged in a seat for two and he smiles brightly. He can't tell if he really likes you or not, lines are beginning to blur. Some things are just not part of the plan.
He greets you, wrapping his arms around you in a loving embrace. ''You visited! Is this your first time at the base?'', he asks. You like to think that he's put a lot of effort into this relationship. Sometimes you like to think that he sits on his bed at night, runs over the conversations he's had with you and picks apart little details. You find it humorous. But it's a real possibility.
He loves your lips, especially when they touch his skin. He lingers over yours, pressing softly, feeling you for the first time this afternoon. Your hand curiously travels his uniform when he pecks your cheeks, your neck. You know where this is going.
He swoops in for your lips, taking you by surprise. Again?, he thinks. Delectably, he wonders why. He thinks of nothing; his groin stirs. ''Do you want me to show you around? Or go home?'' he whispers.
Your coffee, not touched at all, full to the hilt, is left there. It's a short walk to your car. He tugs you along, looking back and smiling, very obviously excited. The next question is car or home? He walks faster than normal, something callous is on his mind.
Pretence or not, in this relationship, the both of you want something out of it. His motive is far more clearer than yours. That's what Youngkyun had also asked you, ''What'd you want out of this thing, with him?''. It was hard to explain. You wanted almost nothing and you were not stuck so why were you here?
He takes you home, yours more specifically. It's in the same building as the apartment that Youngkyun had visited but a couple of floors away. If he was to find you, he would look in the wrong place, not ever knowing that you were nearby. In the elevator, upwards, he firmly clutches your waist. You try to squirm out of his gasp. It's the moment of truth. About the man that he let away, it comes to mind and you are repulsed.
You feel the need to get away from him. He's behind, slipping his arms around your waist, feeling your tummy, pressing kisses of air at your neck and you can't take it. You endure it all the way up, occasionally cracking a smile, hoping he's not going to ask about the gloom on your face on the ride up. You'll answer his questions, but not his arguments.
The doors open, without a hitch or some noise, closing away when you step into the extra bright sunshine that decorates the hallway floor and it's walls. Your mood is ruined but his? Strong and going on. He tugs you to your apartment, flashing back a smile which credit is due, momentarily makes you smile. The feeling his smile evokes is temporary, replaced by visual flashes of what he must have done.
You push them away, cautious enough on your feet to alert yourself of what he has done. You have distance because you never saw it with your own eyes. They were not your family members, nor your friends or distant relatives. You have to hand him over to Captain Kim but not whilst torturing yourself in the process.
''Let's go'' he says in a genuine tone of voice. You are surprised and have to remind yourself. Anticipation builds up, creeps into your skin with goose-bumps or tiny tremors, maybe only tiny to you. You chuckle and throw a smile that you hope looks like one, entering your apartment. ''The chapter can close here if you want too'' Youngkyun had asked you, out of concern for your well-being. He had told you what he had to, the same disgustingly gruesome but life-changing details as on the night the two of you had recorded it.
It would be given to them, the team consisting of high-ranking members, higher than the Major, someone that Youngkyun and his team know and trust, enough to find something in their investigative line into Taeyang's immoral doings. Youngkyun knows that he can't hide it anymore. He will be punished for holding back information. However, you will always admire his efforts to save his team and pull through, even when under the harsh gaze of secrecy that threatened to break their backs.
Taeyang doesn't miss the shadow of the figure sitting on the sofa as you kick off your shoes and enter the apartment. He's not shaken, just walking in like you'd walk into a store or something, curious. That is all. Kyun has confidence, the one that had been previously broken down. That estimation of how far in the future Taeyang will be behind bars as opposed to the confidence in Taeyang which he has none of.
Taeyang looks back, not as menacing as the manner in which you thought he would appear. He smiles. Like a knowing kind of smile. It makes your shiver from behind the counter. Kyun is closer to Taeyang than Taeyang is to you. Kyun could reach over the table if he attempted something. It could turn into a fight and he would be off with you- for negotiation or worse, since neither of them had weapons.
Which is why you choose the kitchen. It's open, giving you a view of both of them and contains all the objects you can turn into weapons in one place. It's also close to the front door. You could reach it in a couple of steps. If you ran fast enough. Taeyang is silently thinking as he pulls a chair and seats it opposite Youngkyun with only the barrier of the coffee table in between.
Taeyang smiles. You can see the curve of his cheekbones rise, even from behind him. He's not threatened, that's for sure. There is no hint of exasperation present. He moves to say something but doesn't, anything could give him away but none would be enough to implicate him. Some sort of unrivalled anger is provoked within you at that thought.
It's painful to watch this. They stay silent, waiting for the other to speak or maybe they have some unspoken agreement to stay like this. Placing all the weight of your palms on the marble countertop, you shift to the other foot, easing the pain you feel from standing. Youngkyun momentarily leaves his focus from Taeyang to look at you. He sees frustrated eyes but misses the look in Taeyang's.
There's a splodge of anxiety that belittles Taeyang. It nags at him for letting a loose end like Youngkyun onto the base, save for the fact that he has no control over that. Then it is for letting Youngkyun run his mouth. When you are in a position so high, people just wait for a chance to grab you down. He feels furious towards Youngkyun but also understanding. There is conflict. But eventually, the growing resentment wins.
When Youngkyun loses focus, out of concern when he hears you sigh, Taeyang stops thinking. He takes it as a moment of opportunity. It can't save him, but it can make him feel better. Seeping violence in and dismantling his opponent when at their weakest is what he was trained to do. That kind of mindset isn't trained but forced, coerced upon in circumstances of extreme danger and high mortality rate.
It's so fast. So sudden, in fact, too sudden. In your eyes, Taeyang gets up, only half way. His knees are still bent when he leans across the table, not by much. And swings a crack at Youngkyun's face. More specifically his jaw. The area between his ear and chin, not landing completely on the cheek. You don't see Youngkyun wring back.
First is a sound, a groan like the time he had come to you. He was bleeding from a fight, the closest place to come, he had said at the time but now, it is less worse. Your breath hitches. Perhaps you've been holding your breath for so long. You aren't sure. Taeyang could go feral, you aren't sure of that either.
You begin to take a step back. Only a second or two or three later, Youngkyun reels from the shock of being hit. He sits upright, fuming internally, displaying stern patience. His face is almost expressionless, save for the occasional unclenching of the jaw that was hit. He doesn't instantly react, waiting. You don't know what to think.
It’s like a power move, for Taeyang to put Youngkyun in his place before Taeyang would be sent to a worse form of hell, one below dignity for him. Like a punishment, you deserve more than this but this is all I can give you, Taeyang said in other words. Youngkyun reacts instantly when Taeyang gets up with his legs straight and feet tipped in the direction of the door.
He wouldn't run but he could come for you. You had feared it and now, it is about to come true. Youngkyun looks at you as he stands up, telling Taeyang, ''Don't do it.''. Taeyang instead chuckles, disarming Youngkyun, ''I'll walk''. Just then, as Taeyang hits the last syllable, soldiers arrive. Straight through the door. You hadn't heard the lock turning or boots thudding in the hallway.
First sight of them has Taeyang gritting his teeth. He complies, like a mouse in a game of chase. It burns him. He complies, seething at Youngkyun who chuckles. After he leaves, Youngkyun takes a seat, dropping his head into arms. He sighs, partly in relief, partly in the party that had just begun and maybe because, the bigger part of his deal was to keep Taeyang away from you.
You are stuck there. Where you chose to stand and where you are standing now. You try to move, to go to Youngkyun but it feels like Taeyang could burst through the door at any moment. In the face-to-face sense, you didn't know what Taeyang could do. Youngkyun senses it when you don't move. He expects the shuffling of footsteps but not absolute silence.
He gets up, coming to you, reaching for your hand and clasping them together. You hum, looking at him, shifting weight from one foot to the other. You try a smile, failing and then laughing at it which has him smiling too. ''You're okay, he's not coming back. That- what you saw, he can't try anything.'', he softly drops off to your listening ears, reaching to grasp your cheek and like turn-taking, you pull yourself closer to him too. He reaches for you in that moment, connecting your lips to his, softly moulding to yours.
He feels relief in letting you pour out the fear you felt, discarding it away in favour of being in arms. Letting him pick you up and take you to the sofa. Letting you gasp for breath when he lets go, placing you on the sofa with your legs on his thighs. ''I want to help you.'' he says, almost stumbling over his words to try and explain to you that he wants to help, only if you want.
He pauses after his whispers, his lips so close to yours that if you were to give a response, no matter how subtle, he'd know. You mull at his prospect, mind blank, looking like you are thinking. ''Stop asking.'' you say, so soft that it came across as a request, although feeling like a command, one stop sentence. He nods, instantly, absorbing your words, having his breath taken away by how you bring him down on your lips, knotting your fingers through his hair.
''We'll get you out of this gang, this place.'', he murmurs, sitting you down on his lap.
Taeyang could come back, there was a high chance that that event could occur. He was what? The best or second-best rumoured equal to the one in first place? With these people who you called soldiers beguiling you to stay, drawing you till you suffocated, now was the wrong time for Youngkyun's plans of staying with you.
''How? There's no way out, Kyun. They won't be so happy, to drag me back this time.'' you say, sucking in a sharp breath, fiddling with his clothes. He doesn't have a plan, at least not right now. All he wants to do is to get you away from here. Set up life somewhere else, away. The two of you don't have a plan, not yet.
Fervent whimpers leave your lips and desperate fingers clutch tightly at the bedsheets, pleasure overwhelming your sex with the way his cock pulls out and fills you again. He's sweating, core clenching from snapping his hips against yours, absorbing every detail of your body beneath him as you ask him to let you release. The sound of skin slapping and the smell of sex coats the room. Fragrance leaks onto your inner thighs at the end but it doesn't stop him, not from kissing your lips and leaving a trail of heat all the way to your inner thighs, and repeating it, again.

Kim Youngbin | The Escort
Chapter 4. / Onward
Warnings: -
Word count: 3989
Pairing: Youngbin x OC (female)
Featuring: Jaeyoon, Suho (EXO)
chapter 1 / chapter 2 / chapter 3
===============================
Surrounded by darkness, his small feet run desperately. Water puddles splashing under his worn-out shoes, making noises that don’t comfort him at all for his fear blocks his hearings over his surrounding except for a chilling gruff voice.
“YOUNGBIN! GET THE FUCK BACK OVER HERE!”
Panting heavily, Youngbin doesn’t let that feral scream stops him. He doesn’t want to go back to that monster. He’s done with all of the pain. Tonight is about his life and death.
The road seems to be never-ending. He hopes to find anyone, any person to help him to get away. But it’s 2 AM in the middle of the night. Not many cars in Syracuse are going out and he doesn’t see any policemen standing around. The boy curses his fate. Could tonight possibly be the day when he will finally lose his life? His lungs are starting to giving up on him. The man chasing behind doesn’t slow down at all. Fear is the only source of his adrenaline rush; survival instinct is his only ally. Not too far from his position, he sees a gas station nearby. There is a crossroad ahead and the green light shows it’s okay to cross. Not like it matters to him if it doesn’t, the road is as empty as the fridge in his ‘home’.
“YOU LITTLE SHIT! YOU CAN’T ESCAPE FROM ME!”
That threatening scream is starting to get closer to him, yet it is drowned within the sound of his thumping heart and tired breaths that he doesn’t realize screeching wheels coming from his far left. The moment his little feet finally reach the other side of the road, oddly everything seems to change. He cannot hear that heavy boots again. He cannot hear that monstrous scream again. Little Youngbin thought his ears can only hear those two sounds, so when he wonders why it suddenly becomes silent, he dares to look behind to see what’s wrong.
A black car is there with his fear laying motionlessly covered in blood.
“…Dad…”
□□□
” …So my parents have been… involved in criminal activities?”
“Not directly, but yes.”
“And you and Suho are assassins from an orphanage that puts up a ballet theater as a disguise of their crimes and then sent out to protect me from my father’s mad business rival?”
The man merely nods. He doesn’t need to utter a word when she answered him like that, she gets everything.
“…I want to say that you were joking but considering what has happened for the past few hours, it’s enough to know that you’re not,” The woman lets out a long sigh that she has been holding on for too long, “Damn…”
Youngbin doesn’t dare to speak a word. After explaining everything to Junko, his throat feels like it’s dried up to the bone. He’s done the thing that he mustn’t do. Revealing the problem. However, it’s odd how the first thing he’s concerned with is the woman in front of him. He’s worried about her in a way that he can’t describe. Thinking about her first days in New York going downhill with the events from tonight brings him a pang of guilt. More so as a man who hates losing, Youngbin truly curses himself for failing his order.
“How did you know I was attacked?”
Her voice stops his train of thoughts like the thunder roaring outside of the rain. Fidgeting between his thumbs, Youngbin wonders if he should tell her the truth about this one.
“Youngbin?” Jun asks again. She’s starting to question his weird behavior.
Staring at the window that’s painted with rain drops, Youngbin’s mind wonders back into the time of the accident. “It was Jaeyoon,” he answers, “The doctor that you met in the bar.”
The woman blinks a few times in confusion. “Jaeyoon? But how come?”
“He called me soon after I dropped you off in the lobby. I was on my way back to report things,” his deep brown eyes never left the window and the rain, “He told me that they got Junm—I mean—Suho hyung. The man who tried to harm you before was tailing us when we drove back to the apartment.”
“What do you mean!? Is Suho okay!?”
“He got shot.” The statement brings out a loud gasp from Jun’s mouth. “Whether or not he’s okay, I will have to check up on him later. I hope he is.”
Biting the inside of her cheeks, Junko is trying her best to hold in her anger. Even with the whole explanation Youngbin gave her, she still feels like being left in the dark. “What the hell exactly happened after we left that bar, Youngbin?”
“Jaeyoon told us he saw someone had been watching us from the other side of the road. Me and Suho hyung wanted to take them out first before it becomes a problem. We agreed to part ways, I trusted him to go at it alone. Turns out it was a deliberate plan to separate him and me. It would be easier for them to kill us if I were alone to protect you.” The brunette sighs before he continues again, “Thankfully… Jaeyoon was there to help him. He is currently in Jaeyoon’s care.”
Junko’s frown hasn’t left her exhausted face. Knowing someone is actually hurt because of her, she doesn’t feel good about it. More over even though it’s hard for her to admit it, she’s already thought of Suho as her friend. Knowing a good person actually went out his way to protect her even though she knows it’s just his job, it doesn’t stop Junko from feeling that way. Right now, she feels conflicted of how she should feel. Everyone she cares about is involved with bad things. Because of that she’s involved as well even though she knew nothing about it.
“I’m sorry, Jun.”
That sudden apology snaps Junko out of her mind. “…What for?”
Biting his lip, Youngbin speaks slowly, “I’m sorry for hiding things from you and let harm befalls you,” he tightens his fist on the bed sheet, “I was careless. I promise it will not happen again. I will protect you.”
His determined eyes and calm voice put her in a trance. Jun can feel there is something more into those words. She doesn’t dare to assume but she knows the warmth of that promise is true.
“If anything happens, call your escort.”
That message rings even louder now than before.
□□□
Waking up from his nap on the couch, Youngbin sluggishly takes his phone by the table to see the time.
“4:00…” He mutters as his eyes squint from the bright screen.
Rubbing his eyes, the man walks lazily into the bathroom to wash his face. When the cold water hits him, Youngbin can feel it pulling out his sleepy consciousness away. The man feels reluctant to be awake. Yet, there is something more important he has to do while the woman he’s taking care of is fast asleep. Putting both of his hands by the table, the Iron Fist stares at his reflection on the mirror. The water that’s dripping from his bangs brings tiny echoes once it hits the ceramic sink. He needs to get himself together.
Walking out of the bathroom, Youngbin is checking Junko who’s sleeping soundly at the bed. He can see the blanket that’s hugging her going up and down. It seems like she’s sleeping well. Seeing that makes Youngbin unknowingly smiles. He’s glad to know she’s tired enough to be that deep in her slumber. Walking towards the table by the couch where he slept, he takes his bag and phone away and slings them on his back. When his attention goes to the window, he realizes that the rain has stopped.
After making sure he has brought everything, Youngbin walks back slowly towards the bed, afraid to make any sound that would wake the woman up. When he’s close enough to see her face, the man squats down to see her much more clearly.
“…Looking at you like this; I’ve never realized just how pretty you are…” He whispers silently that he hopes even God can’t hear him. Staring at her sleeping face in adoration, Youngbin can’t stop his calloused hand from brushing her falling strands of hair away from her cheek, “Sleep well, Jun. I’ll be back.”
With that, the Iron Fist stands back up and walks away towards the door. He needs to check up on his brother.
□□□
Parking his car by the sidewalk, Youngbin grabs his bag and then gets out and be greeted with cold night winds. The road is empty but the warm colored lights are still on to accompany him. Looking around his area, the man checks his surrounding to see if anyone follows him. His eyes are trained enough to see in the dark and he knows no one’s suspicious enough in his proximity. Walking to the alleyway beyond the sidewalk, it gets really wet under his feet. The sound of water splashing reminds him of a certain memory that he prefers not to call back at times like now. His brother is his number one concern.
Turning to the left, he sees a red rusty door on a brick-walled building. A single light flickers on top of it. He continues to briskly walking towards the door and then knocks exactly 5 times upon his reach. After several seconds, a small rectangle window on the door frame opens and reveal a pair of black-slit eyes. After confirming who’s his guest, the resident closes the window again and then follows with the sound of door unlocking. It reveals Jaeyoon in his white coat and duck slippers.
“How is he?” Youngbin immediately asks as he steps inside the house.
“The bullet shot through his shoulder, but he’s fine,” The doctor explains as they continue to walk briskly through the corridor, “If I wasn’t there to shoot the guy first it would’ve been his heart.”
They both soon arrive inside a dim-lit room. It’s spacious enough to hold 2 beds and a bookcase that is filled with bottles and documents. A table is visible with surgical tools. They appear to be used recently, a proof of the doctor has been treating a man in his house. Youngbin sees someone is sleeping on the bed by the wall. Recognizing the pants they’re wearing, Youngbin is sure that person is his brother.
Walking closer towards the bed to confirm, Youngbin can finally see the face he’s been expecting. His brother, Junmyeon, is sleeping soundly. The injured man’s topless torso is covered with bandages. His breathing looks to be a little ragged, but that is the side effect of suppressing the pain.
“Oh, thank goodness…” Youngbin sighs as he closes his eyes, “Jaeyoon, thank you so much.” He adds.
“You are welcome, old friend.” Jaeyoon smiles, “I gave him enough pain killer to help him sleep. But I’m afraid he’s not going to be able to fight for awhile.”
“That’s alright. I can handle the rest. Jun’s staying with me until the work is done, I won’t let her attend her college. Junmyeon hyung’s role isn’t needed anymore.”
“I see…” Jaeyoon nods in acknowledgement. Wanting to speak more, the dark-haired doctor hisses, feeling bad about the thing he’s going to say, “By the way, Youngbin. I really hate to ask of this to you, but—”
“I know, Jaeyoon. I came prepared.” The Iron Fist cuts him first to save his friend from the discomfort. He opens his brown bag to pull out a gold coin. The same one that he used in The Continental, “Here.” He says as he gives the coin.
“Thanks,” Jaeyoon grins and takes the coin from his friend’s calloused hand, “You know what the adjudicator would do to me tomorrow if he knows I saved your best pal without this.” He sighs as his hand move that coin around as if it’s nothing but trouble.
Youngbin merely chuckles, knowing well what would happen if that scenario does come true. It’s not pretty that’s for sure.
“Make sure he’s staying here until he’s well enough. Knowing that idiot, he would still try to go even when he can’t wear his own shoes.”
“You bet.” Jaeyoon grins. His deep dimples show deeply under the dim light. “Where are you going after this?”
“The Bowery.”
□□□
Fluttering her eyes open, Junko can see the morning light’s seeping through the curtain. Her eyes are still heavy but her brain is telling her to wake up now. Stretching her legs under the soft blanket, she turns her back away from the window and tries to go back to her peaceful slumber again. If anyone could see her now, no one would expect what happened to her night. It appears like when it comes to sleep, Junko doesn’t let anything disturb her.
Yet something does bother her. Turning her head to see the couch by the window, she realizes her escort isn’t there.
“Youngbin?” She tries calling out.
The bathroom seems to be empty as well. There’s no sound of water running. Thinking perhaps the man is going out alone on his own, Junko only sighs and then goes back to her sleep. She’s not that worried, perhaps too lax for her current situation. But she can’t help it. When it comes to sleep, her mother needed to drag her foot out of the bed once to get her to school. However, it isn’t only about her drowsiness. She believes he will come back to her.
Starting to slowly doze off back to her dreamland, suddenly she’s woken up by a door unlocking by itself. Her mind jumps out on alert. Her eyes that were heavy are now open to see who’s coming in.
“Where did you go…?” Junko asks lazily. But her mouth hangs open in confusion when she sees the one who’s coming in isn’t her companion, “Who are you?”
Wholly stepping inside then closes the door behind them, the unknown person answers with a sweet smile.
“Good morning, Junko. The name’s So Ra. I’m Youngbin’s friend from Ruska Roma. Nice to meet you.”
Feeling dumbfounded, Junko sits upright to process her morning better. A stranger woman in red hoodie walks uninvited inside. And then she’s claiming to be her guardian’s friend? Where is Youngbin? She can’t just trust her out of the blue. That So Ra can just be anyone. The Continental is a place where Youngbin said all criminals are not allowed to attack each other. What if this woman is one of those people who’s after her head?
“Where is Youngbin?” Jun sternly asks. Her knitted eyebrows show that she’s not feeling friendly right now.
“I can’t tell you where he is right now, but feel free to call him to confirm about me.” So Ra replies, still standing by the door. She won’t walk another step unless she’s sure Jun can trust her.
Cautiously taking up the stranger’s offer, Jun picks up the phone by the nightstand. Her deep brown eyes don’t leave So Ra just yet, afraid that the woman in ponytail would do something funny. Searching for Youngbin’s name in her recent calls, she then finds it on top of the list and calls him immediately. It only takes her two rings before the man picks it up.
“Where are you!?” Jun rises her voice out of fear, “I woke up and you’re not here. Why did you leave!?”
There’s a pause greeting her instead of his warm voice. Jun almost lashes out again but the moment she opens her mouth, that voice answers her. “Hey Jun, I’m sorry I didn’t want to wake you up. There’s something I gotta do to track Doyle. How’s your sleep?”
“Are you serious? You’re asking me that right now?” The woman’s annoyed with his indifferent attitude, but a part of her feels soft towards his attentive personality, “Where are you, Youngbin?” she sighs.
“Central Park. Anyway Jun, is someone named So Ra currently with you?”
“Right! That’s why I’m calling you! Who is she?”
“Relax, she’s not our enemy. Can you turn on the speaker for me?”
“Ugh…” Pulling away the phone, she turns on the speaker as she stares at the stranger who’s still standing idly—and whistling? The nerve! “…It’s on.” She begrudgingly says.
“Hey, So Ra.”
“’Sup Youngbin. A little help to persuade her would be nice.” The woman in red chuckles.
“Jun, So Ra is my friend from Ruska Roma. She’s there as a backup in case Suho hyung got hurt. I visited him this morning at Jaeyoon’s and he’s in no condition to protect you. So Ra will be his replacement to help me.”
“I-I see…” The light-haired woman mutters feeling a little relieved, “If you say so, Youngbin. Just… please come back.”
Another silence comes. The worried woman thought the line got disconnected, but hearing the sound of cars going by from where Youngbin is seems to tell her that isn’t the case.
“Youngbin?” Junko calls again.
“O-oh, yeah. I’ll be back, don’t worry. You’re safe with So Ra.”
“But you will still come back right?”
“…I will, Jun. You’re still my responsibility.”
“…Okay. I’ll be waiting. Be safe, don’t do anything reckless.”
“I can’t promise you that but I’ll try.” Youngbin chuckles in amusement. If his client were to ask his friends in the orphanage, he bets she would be surprised by how much he’s doing the opposite is in a fight. “Alright, make sure to eat breakfast downstairs with So Ra. Don’t go alone. I’ll be off. See you later, Jun.”
“Mm. See you later.” Turning off her phone, Junko sighs. She looks back towards So Ra who’s looking back at her with a friendly smile, hoping Junko can accept her to protect her. Jun closes her eyes and then nod with a smile. That’s enough confirmation for the other woman to finally walks further inside the room and sits down comfortably on the bed.
“Hungry?” So Ra asks as she tilts her head.
“Very.”
□□□
Putting his phone away to his jacket, Youngbin looks around his surroundings as he sits on the wooden bench with a coffee. There are a lot of families hanging out here, pigeons flying, kids playing balls and kites, it’s a lively public space. He’s a bit jealous of their ignorance. He wishes he could have that much spare time right now, preferably with Jun, considering his brief conversation just now. Pulling out a piece of paper from his jeans, Youngbin takes a look at the hasty hand writing on it.
Central Park, 8:10 AM, wooden bench on the south side near the trash can.
He lifts up his left wrist to check his watch. It’s 5 minutes before the designated time. Sipping his coffee to wash away his drowsiness, Youngbin continues to look at the scenery to see any sign of person he’s supposed to meet now.
“Iron Fist?” A sudden female voice from behind surprises him too much that he almost takes out his gun. But before he can, the friendly smiling face that’s greeting him stops him from doing so.
“Did Bowery King send you?”
Walking to the front of the bench, the black woman sits down comfortably before she introduces herself, “Yes. My codename is Nightingale. Nice to meet you, Iron Fist.”
“Just Youngbin is fine.”
“I’m afraid it doesn’t feel professional to me. Please bear with my code of courtesy.” She answers still with the same smile.
“If you say so.” The Iron Fist shrugs.
“Thank you for your understanding. Here is the address that you’re looking for,” Nightingale says as she gives him a piece of paper and some photos. There’s a cursive hand writing on the paper, spelling the place of his target. “A lone penthouse in 990 Fifth Avenue. You should be able to get there in 20 minutes from here. Charles Doyle is currently renting the place to keep an eye on your client. Be aware of the guards outside. He tightened up the security since last night.”
“He’s scared of what’s coming to him.” Youngbin darkly chuckles. He feels honored with his target’s countermeasure. That shows the guy is taking him seriously. “Is he currently there?”
“Yes he is. He goes to work on 10 AM.”
“Alright,” Youngbin puts the pieces of information in his pocket, “Thank you for your valuable information Miss Nightingale. I’ll be on my way.” Standing back on his feet, Youngbin walks back towards his car still with the warm coffee in his hand. Sipping it once more, he licks his lips and then silently smirks. Charles Doyle is gonna end today.
After going through the traffic, he’s finally arrived on the marker on his navigation. As soon as the penthouse is visible, Youngbin slowly pushes the brake to park behind the trees. The penthouse is going uphill. From where he is, he can see there’s a lot of men in suits walking around the perimeter. After making sure he got his gun and ammos ready, Youngbin checks his bag again to pull out a set of white bandages.
When he goes to fight, the brunette feels naked without them. These bandages are a part of him. They may be thin and lacking the necessary protection like gloves, but the warrior wouldn’t want it any other way. Before he steps outside of the car, Youngbin ties the bandages around his hands, making sure it’s not too tight but enough to make them feel secure. Using his teeth to tie the last knot on his right wrist, the assassin is ready to go.
“Let’s do this.” He speaks to himself, his eyes are filled with determination.
□□□
“So… you’re a ballerina?” Jun asks as she puts a piece of sausage inside her mouth.
“Mmhm. In Ruska Roma the girls have to learn the art of ballet.” So Ra answers with a shrug.
“Is it tough? The training?”
“Hellish.” So Ra shakes her head as she puts down her cup of tea, remembering a nasty incident during her first month, “Had to pluck my fucking toe’s nail due to the rigorous training.”
“No way…”
“I think every girls in there went through the same thing. But, in the end we all just call it tough love.” The girl in red chuckles to hide her pain, “Mother used to tell us that ‘art is pain and life is suffering’.”
“…I don’t think that’s true.” Jun sadly mutters out loud, her eyebrows creased in disagreement.
“It is Jun, if you desire perfection.” So Ra sighs, she understands the sentiment behind Junko’s comment. But her client who is newly introduced into this whole crime underworld needs to know that their world is different, that way of naïve thinking is something foreign, undesirable. “And for Mother, mistake is unacceptable.”
“…But Youngbin said I wasn’t supposed to know about this whole problem. What’s gonna happen to you?” Jun asks worriedly.
“Well,” So Ra grins as she leans back on her seat, sighing after imagining what’s going to happen to them, her included, “You don’t need to worry about that. What matters the most is to kill the guy that’s been targeting you and keeping you safe.”
Telling her not to worry is just doing the opposite to her. She shudders to think of the worst case scenario that could happen to So Ra and Youngbin, possibly even Suho. She hates to put them into more trouble than they’re already in for her. More than this, Junko doesn’t think she can take it.
Oblivious from their attention, a man far away from the dining room sees them sitting together and exchanging carefree laughs. His hand picks up his phone to take a picture, a proof for him to keep and spill towards someone he knows would be not amused with the situation.

Kim Youngbin | The Escort
Chapter 5. / Confrontation
Warnings: Violence
Word count: 4459
Pairing: Youngbin x OC (female)
Featuring: Suho (EXO), Jaeyoon
chapter 1 / chapter 2 / chapter 3 / chapter 4
===============================
Youngbin is stealthily approaching his first target. He’s in the most vigilant state for today, he makes sure the coffee he drank doing its job. As soon as he gets close enough, with a swift movement he locks the man’s neck as he pulls him in with his arms. The man’s struggle is futile for 2 seconds later his life is forfeited with a snap of his neck. After the body is falling lifelessly to the ground with a thud, Youngbin continues to move to the nearest bodyguard and quickly does the same. He wants to gather as minimal attention as possible.
He’s currently on the side of the penthouse. Hiding behind the wall, he takes a peek to see how many guards he has to take care of.
“6. Alright.”
The man is confident. Cocking his gun, Youngbin then steps out of his hiding to shoot the nearest guard on his line of sight.
“Shit! One down! Notify Darian!!” One of them shouts as soon as they hear the thunderous gunshot. He immediately brings out his own gun to shoot the intruder.
However, it’s not that easy.
Youngbin uses the guard’s body he had shot as his shield. With a precise aim, he shoots one guard who’s stupidly walking closer towards him to get a better shot. Quickly cocking his gun again, he then pushes the body away from him to gain more mobility. A moment of defenseless is what it takes for his enemy to start firing their rounds. Youngbin immediately crouches down and run as fast as he can towards another guard. When he sees his target pointing his gun towards him, Youngbin uses his left hand to quickly grabs a hold of his hand and stopping him from pulling the trigger. Using his other hand, he shoots the man in point blank range.
“What the fuck!?” Another one curses when he witnesses how fast the assassin is.
Not wasting any time, Youngbin uses both of his hands and shoots the rest of the guards.
Lawn area clear.
But it’s not the time to let his guard down just yet. With the whole gunshot party, he’s sure everyone in that penthouse heard him. His attentions shift towards the windows that separate the lawn and the inner part of the house. For a second there he sees his reflection.
“….!?”
The man realizes it’s not only his reflection that’s present by the window, but there are three man behind it that’s equipped with a machine gun and it’s pointing towards him. Without wasting his breath, Youngbin runs towards a huge tree to take cover. The windows shatter immediately upon the rapid bullet’s impact.
“That’s a little barbaric, don’t you think!?” Youngbin laughs in his hiding, wholeheartedly amused with his situation, “Damn, Doyle.” From within his jacket, Youngbin pulls out a single grenade he had stocked up from The Continental. Pulling out the safety pin, he takes a peek from his cover to see how far he needs to throw it. He sees the windows are completely shattered to the ground. Those men are completely bare for him to blow up. With a single powerful throw, Youngbin throws the grenade into the house, completely obliterating those three poor guards with a spectacular bang.
After he feels it’s starting to die down, Youngbin walks out of his cover. The smoke is still too thick for him to get a clear vision but he can tell how much damage he has done with that bomb. He still readies his gun just in case someone else is coming out of that area. Very unlikely, he ponders.
“I can’t believe he’s hiring these amateurs to protect him.” The brunette clicks his tongue in disbelieve. He doubts the men he killed even know about the world he’s living in. That makes him wonder, where is Darian? He could swear he heard that name shouted from one of the guards before.
Carefully walking inside of the house, Youngbin decides to try finding his final target. He uses his arm to cover his face from the smokes. Squinting his eyes from the dusts, as he walks further inside, he can see the kitchen area further in the back of the room. The house turns out to be roomier than he had thought.
The assassin is scanning the room around him. There is a corridor that leads to another part of the house. It’s still untouched from the damage of the grenade he threw.
It’s oddly silent he thinks. They must be hiding in the dark, waiting to ambush upon his arrival. But that doesn’t scare him at all. Knowing the bodyguards are a bunch of small fries, the only person Youngbin worries about is Darian. He’s sure that guy must be present in this house.
With careful steps, Youngbin starts walking through the corridor. Both of his hands are ready on the gun. He can see that it’s very bright on the other side, it must be another living room. He’s taking a mental note of an open space that he needs to deal with.
Walking past the corridor safely, he finally arrives at the living room that’s completely unscathed from the whole gun fight before. It’s completely empty. Not a soul in sight. Other than the wooden interiors, he can see the view of New York’s skyscrapers from the wide windows. Youngbin feels wary. What if Charles Doyle isn’t here?
“So you’ve come.”
Completely snapping him out of his thought, Youngbin immediately goes back to high alert and points out his gun towards the voice. They’re coming out from another hallway towards the east.
A familiar man with someone older appears from there. They’re not alone, four more guards are standing in front of them. The assassin can easily identify those two.
“Huh,” Youngbin smirks, “I see that you’re recovering well, Darian.”
The huge man chuckles lowly, “The Bowery King must’ve tipped you off.”
“Does that matter to you?” The assassin answers nonchalantly, “He bows to no one but The High Table.”
“It seems like you’re ignoring me here,” An annoying high-pitched sound interrupts their fleeting conversation. Walking forward uninvited, he begins to shamelessly introduce himself. “I’m Charles Doyle. It’s very nice to finally meet you, mister Iron Fist or should I call you… Kim Youngbin?”
Youngbin chuckles, mostly because of his poor attempt on pronouncing his name. Moreover, the fact that this old man is his target makes it even more annoying.
“I don’t care. I don’t have the time to play around with you,” Youngbin’s tongue rudely answers, he doesn’t have the time for bullshits, “Today is going to be your last.”
“Who-whoa hold on, young man! Let’s talk!”
The assassin raises his eyebrow. The finger that was almost pulling the trigger stops halfway, wondering why Charles Doyle is acting funny. As much as he wants to cut short this weird conversation his target trying to initiate, he is also curious to hear what he’s going to say.
Acknowledging his hesitant behavior, Charles continues to speak, knowing well he may still have a chance, “Let’s make a deal.”
“…What?”
“How much did Han pay you?”
“...Hah. Seriously?”
“I’m going to cut to the chase. I’m going to pay you 5 times more than he does.” The business man grins, “In return, I want you to join my side and then—”
“Then what? Kill Junko Han?”
“You got it.” Charles shrugs with a big grin plastered on his face. “Seems like we’re on the same wavelength here, yeah? What about it? Care to switch side and end this bloodshed?”
Youngbin chuckles. To think that this situation is actually happening to him. Truth be told, during his assassination career he never once got this kind of tempting offer. The reason why? It’s easy to know, if you’re an old timer in the underworld.
It’s a well-known fact of how loyal The Director’s children are to their Mother.
“I can’t believe you let him talk about this deal, Darian.” Youngbin answers in disbelieve, “Are you trying to disappoint him?”
The bald man merely chuckles, “You have to forgive my client’s ignorance. He’s new to this business. Well then, your answer?”
“You know what it is.”
“I see. A shame then.” Shaking his head in disappointment, Darian gives an approving nod to the rest of the bodyguards. He proceeds to take Charles Doyle with him back to his room. The assassin could hear his target shouting about how he would regret this. But of course, that threat means nothing for him.
Without warning, the bodyguards are starting to shoot at him. 6 vs 1, in the middle of this spacious living room, it’s easy to find your target. But no time to think, he runs back towards a long white sofa, hiding behind it to take cover. The shooting doesn’t stop just yet. The guy reaches out towards his jacket again, trying to find some ammo.
“Shit. One cartridge left.” He grunts.
He takes a quick glance from his hiding, shooting towards the direction of his enemies. Immediately taking cover again, he could hear a loud groan coming from one of them. It seems like he got a good hit.
The bullets are starting to slow down. It’s the moment where they’re getting more cautious, trying to get closer to Youngbin to corner him. He looks at his right, waiting for that one guy to get close enough towards him. Then as soon as he sees the tip of his shoe, Youngbin leaps out towards the man and then punches him on his face. He makes sure that his position stays behind the man he’s hitting to make sure the others won’t get a clear sight to shoot.
Easily winning the melee combat, Youngbin doesn’t take away the man’s gun immediately but proceeds to take on the nearest guy in front of him. Being on point blank, it’s hard for the second bodyguard to shoot him. Quickly Youngbin grabs his arm and then pulls him in for a hard kick on his stomach. The man falls unconscious instantly. Before he’s bare for a shooting spree, he takes out his own gun again before the body falls completely on the floor. Not wasting the last five of his bullets, two men are dead unceremoniously without able to touch him. Realizing that he’s out of bullets, Youngbin throws the gun towards the man in front of him to shake him off. He then grabs a glass vase on his left and then throws that as well. The vase shatters upon impact, giving Youngbin a clear opening to knock him out cold.
But then he let his guard down for a second.
“Argh!!” Youngbin groans loudly. His right shoulder got shot, blood’s starting to seep through his jacket. But his adrenaline rush keeps him away from the pain. Picking up a piece of shattered glass, he throws it towards the direction of the one who shot at him and then successfully hit his chest. Of course it’s not enough to kill him. After he sees the man stumbling back, Youngbin runs towards him and then kicks him until he falls to the ground. Using his boot, he stomps on the piece of glass on his chest, pushing it further inside. The poor guy screams in agony before he dies.
“Shit.” Youngbin curses under his breath. Of all places it has to be his right shoulder, his dominant arm. He may not feel the pain that much but he knows his body is more honest than his stubborn mind. His arm wouldn’t work as good as minutes ago and he still has to take care of Darian. But just worrying about it wouldn’t get things done. He starts walking quickly towards the direction where Darian took Charles with him.
Kicking the locked door, Youngbin gets his way inside with force. He sees Darian standing readily in the middle. Charles? He’s cowardly hiding behind the desk.
“This ends now.” Youngbin growls.
“Why won’t you accept my offer!?” Charles shouts from behind the desk. The fear felt obvious within his trembling voice, “Do you want me to raise the price!? Just tell me how much—”
“Shut your damn mouth. I don’t give a shit about your money.” Youngbin spats, finally lost it towards the cowardly man attitude, “You’re gonna die today and that’s final.”
“Y-you fucking brat! Hey, do your fucking job and kill him!!” He orders from behind that damn desk. Poor guy, he’s scared shitless.
Sighing, the big man stretches his arms and neck, “This better be worth it.” Darian chuckles lowly.
The final battle begins. Youngbin brings both of his fists into his front. He brings his martial arts stance out for a show to his opponent. Despite of the wound on his shoulder, his posture still looks strong. Solid. Intimidating. People wouldn’t be able to tell that he’s injured if it weren’t for the blood that’s sipping through his jacket.
Darian, of course, realizes this. The cunning man cockily grins. He’s confident Youngbin is only millimeters away from his grave.
He lunges ahead first. A strong left jab coming towards Youngbin’s right. He dodges that easily and prepares himself for the upcoming continuous attacks. Each punch is targeting his weak points. One jab almost took a hit to his ribcage if he wasn’t enough. A sharp pain then comes uninvited to his wounded shoulder, forcing him to hiss to suppress the pain. That one second of opening let Darian to send a strong right kick towards his body.
Youngbin quickly blocks the attack with his arm, but the difference of body weight sent him harshly to the bookcase. The impact gives another sharp pain towards his shoulder, but the Iron Fist grits his teeth to make sure he doesn’t let that weakness again slips again. He curses mentally, taking notes of how the son of a bitch didn’t actually gave his all back in The Eugene.
From behind of his shielding arm, Youngbin sees his opponent is already walking towards him for another hit. Using the height difference to his advantage, he dodges the punch by crouching down, resulting Darian hitting on the books instead. Youngbin throws his arms around Darian’s waist, pushing him with all his might into the glass table ahead, shattering the vulnerable furniture into small pieces.
Holding on to the momentum, Youngbin sits up and throws a punch towards his opponent’s face. It seems like the cracked jaw injury from last night hasn’t fully healed yet, considering the loud groan coming out of him. His punches are relentless, mercilessly making sure that Darian would lose the shape of his own face.
Until he grabs his wrist and stops him.
“Don’t get too cocky, you piece of SHIT!” The big man roars before he pulls Youngbin in for a head butt.
Youngbin screams and hisses loudly. His forehead’s throbbing over the impact. He feels dizzy that instant and let his guard down. Before he knows it, Darian is already dragging his collar and throws his body into the wooden table where Charles is hiding.
“WHAT THE HELL!?” The cowardly hiding man screams when he hears the loud bang on the table.
“Fuck!” Youngbin curses under his breath. His right shoulder’s throbbing like mad, but his dizzied head is the real problem he needs to overcome quick. His vision is still a bit blurry, but he knows that the big guy is coming closer to him. As soon as he’s dangerously close enough, the Iron Fist musters up his strength for a hard kick on his stomach, toppling him backward.
Darian grins. Spitting his blood, he waits for Youngbin to stand back up from the table. He refuses to let this end so easily.
“You’re a fucking stubborn one, Iron Fist.”
“Heh,” Youngbin grins, “same as you, asshole.”
“Let’s end this.”
Without exchanging anymore words, they let their fists do the job.

“Hey—Suho-ssi! Stop!”
Junmyeon pretends not to hear him just like he tries to ignore the pain on his shoulder. Walking towards the front door feels like carrying leads on his back, but he’s too stubborn to admit it. Jaeyoon quickly stops his patient by standing in front of his way. He’s not giving up so easily.
“Suho-ssi, if you do this you will be nothing but a hindrance to Youngbin.” Jaeyoon pleads trying to reason, “You can’t even properly hold a gun like this. Please, go back to bed.”
“I can’t leave him alone, doctor.” Junmyeon says. It sounds weak but he’s trying not to show it, “This job is supposedly for the both of us. I can still move.”
Junmyeon looks up towards Jaeyoon. His body may not be fine, but his eyes are still aflame in spirits. They almost moved Jaeyoon to let the man go, but remembering his promise to Youngbin, he quickly steels his mind again.
“Still no. Youngbin told me not to let you go no matter what. It’s my job as the doctor to make sure that you’re recovering well.”
“I’m still going. I wasn’t asking for your permission anyway.”
The stubborn man walks pass the doctor, ignoring the warnings he was given. Jaeyoon sighs. It appears like he doesn’t have any choice.
“Fine. Don’t hate me for this.”
Jaeyoon pulls a sedative syringe from the pocket of his white coat. He then tries to pull in Junmyeon’s hand. To his expectation, Junmyeon fights back by pulling back his hand and tries to attack back. But to his avail, Jaeyoon easily counters it and cages Junmyeon between his arm. The other one gets ready to inject the syringe into his neck.
“Let me go, doctor!!” Junmyeon screams as he tries to get off the grip around his neck. He mentally curses for being so weak right now. He doesn’t have enough strength to fight back.
“I can’t, I’m sorry. Sleep tight.” Without warning, Jaeyoon pushes the syringe into the nape of Junmyeon’s neck, instantly taking his consciousness back to the dreamland. Carrying his limp body back to the bed, Jaeyoon then sits closely near the medicine shelf. The blonde man sharply exhales, looking at the digital clock by the wall. It’s 9 AM. Being aware of the time, his stomach grumbles in starvation. He realizes he hasn’t eaten breakfast.
Standing back up, he walks away towards the kitchen to find something edible. Just as soon as he opens the cabinet, he hears a loud knock on his front door. A little annoyed because of the sudden interruption, Jaeyoon sharply sighs and begrudgingly walks out of the kitchen to see who’s the early customer. Opening the small hole on the door, his dark eyes peek to see who it is.
“State your business.” Jaeyoon speaks.
“I’m So Ra, from Ruska Roma. I’m here to pick up Junmyeon oppa.”
Ruska Roma? The doctor thinks she must be one of Youngbin’s friends. “Uh… About that,” Jaeyoon hesitates before be answers, “I just gave him a strong painkiller so he’s really knocked out.”
“Can you help me carry him to the car, then?”
“…He hasn’t recovered yet. I don’t think it’s a good idea to pick him up now.”
“I know, believe me I hate to do this too. But unfortunately… this is Director’s order.”
Silence fills in the atmosphere for a second. After So Ra mentions who wants his patient back, Jaeyoon knows he has no room to argue anymore. It’s not like it’s his responsibility to keep a criminal well rested inside of his clinic. If they want to go despite of their bad injuries, they’re free to do so. They’ve paid the proper price anyway. But Jaeyoon? He’s different. As a doctor he wants to save as much lives as possible, even going as far as force injecting a sedative into his patient.
But for now, he has to be the one who concedes. Someone in higher power demands so.
“…Fine. I’ll go get him.”
□□□
The blood loss is making him lose focus. He could swear Darian appears to be split in two. They have been going at it for 15 minutes, no one seems to be giving up. Sharply exhaling, his body feels heavy to stand upright. But his heart is steeled, he knows it’s going to end soon. It appears like his opponent is more or less in the same condition as him.
“Damn… Hahaha, you’re amazing, Kim Youngbin…” Darian grunts, his face is bruised and bloodied, but his grin is still confidently etched on his face, “I remember the first time I saw you in that ring… Everyone praised you, they all won a shitload of cash from putting their bets on you. Just within 3 days… you outranked me.”
“Oh, is this the reason why you still wanna work for the coward behind the desk? Is it personal? A little jealousy?” Youngbin smirks, taunting his opponent.
“Heh… maybe so,” the bigger man chuckles, seemingly unbothered by Youngbin’s mockery, “I’m going to win and then I’ll break that woman in front of your eyes. Let’s see how you’ll like it.”
Hearing that threat makes Youngbin’s fury slowly creeps in. His eyes are blown wide, his inner monster is starting to take over. How dare he say that in front of him? How dare he acts as if he’s already winning? How dare he threatens Junko’s safety? Youngbin won’t let him speak any more. He’ll make sure he won’t get out of here alive.
“I’m gonna break your bones until there’s nothing left you can use to move an inch.”
The dead stare on his eyes bring excitement towards the bigger man. They mean business and oh yes, you can bet Kim Youngbin will live up to his words. He means every single one of it. Darian goes into a defensive state, preparing himself for another upcoming attack.
Youngbin throws a solid jab towards Darian’s ribcage. He then uses his foot to make the bigger man loses his footing, resulting him falling towards the floor on his ass. Not wasting his chance, the ruthless fighter stomps his boot on top of his stomach, forcing out a loud groan of pain. He then flips the man over and then pulls his left arm backwards, his foot pushes on top of his shoulder blade.
“ARGH FUCK!”
Darian screams the instant he feels his left arm painfully gets dislocated. His limp arm gets dropped carelessly on to the floor. He can feel the sharp throbbing pain permeating his shoulder. It’s useless now.
“FUCK you Young—GAH!”
His speech gets cut midway with a foot pressing on his head, pushing his face down on to the floor, not giving him a chance to speak a word.
“Shut the fuck up. You’re pissing me off.” Youngbin bellows coldly. “You see, I respected you, Darian. I really did.” He continues as he pulls in Darian’s right arm and then tightly grabs the wrist, “But you… really had to tell me such cheap, insulting, threat…”
With a twist, he snaps another one of his arms.
“FUCK!!”
Looking down towards his enemy, his dark eyes are now void of sympathy.
“You see, I don’t actually give a shit about your issue towards me,” Youngbin lowly speaks, his voice is dripping with spite, “I outranked you? So what? I always win. If you can’t keep up then you’re just weak.” Sitting down on his back, Youngbin rests both of his elbows on his knees, “I am the Iron Fist. If you think just for a second that you’ll win against me, you’re wrong. Why do you think I prolonged this fight, huh?” With a whisper, he moves closer towards his ear, making sure that his enemy hear every single word, “It’s to selfishly satiate my need for a good fight.”
Youngbin’s words sent shivers down to his spine. His pupils are blown wide in fear that he refuses to admit. Is he going to lose? Is this the end? He can’t use both of his arms anymore, is there even a chance for him to win?
“But don’t get me wrong. I did respect you, I had fun. That is, until you decide to threaten me with her.” The assassin continues. “Good bye, Darian.”
Standing up slightly, he pulls Darian’s head by the neck, his hands are positioned tightly under his jaws. His knee pushing on between of his shoulder blades, making sure that the bigger man can’t move. Then, with a careful handling, he pulls Darian’s neck until he hears a loud crack. It’s an instant, swift death.
Youngbin lets go of his head carelessly, moving away from the body to finish the next target.
“You’re next.”
“N-NO! STAY AWAY FROM ME!”
Walking towards the table to find the hidden rat, he sees his final target to be cowering in fear. There is a gun in his hand, but they are shivering so much that it looks so pathetic. Youngbin gets cringed just by looking at it. He sighs. When he tries to take the gun away from Doyle, the older man can’t even pull the trigger. He helplessly looks up like a puppy trapped in a sewer.
Youngbin checks the gun to see if the safety lock is off already.
It’s not.
“…Unbelievable.” The brunette mutters as he takes the lock off.
“Y-you have to understand!”
“What?”
“That Han took everything from me! He stole a hundred million dollars deal from me, taking it for his own!! I’ve spent so much time and money to win the auction, I’ve lost so much! That money could’ve been—”
“Tch. Loser…” Youngbin sighs, pulling the slide of the gun to load his ammo.
“O-ONE MILLION DOLLARS!!” Doyle shouts again in an attempt to save his own life, “I-if you spare my life, I promise to stay away from Junko Han, AND also give you the money!!”
Looking down to the pitiful man, Youngbin points the gun towards the middle of his creased sweaty forehead.
“We’re done here.” He speaks for the last time and pull the trigger.
□□□
Walking outside towards his car, Youngbin mentally cursing the pain all over his body. He’s lacking sleep, lacking blood, and shamelessly hungry. He has to bear with all of that until he reaches The Continental. Thinking about that place, he remembers Jun. Her peaceful sleeping face was the last thing he sees. He wonders if So Ra is taking good care of her. He seriously hopes so.
Once he sees his car is on sight, he finds it not alone. Someone else is already waiting, sitting on the cap with crossed hands, wearing a black trench coat.
“…Luca?” Youngbin calls out to the familiar man.
“Hey,” Luca waves, “Get in.”
