I really do adore the way you draw Telemachus - he looks so much like young Odysseus, very kind, a little mischievous. Do you headcanon that he takes after his Dad mostly, or are there some traits which he got fully from Penelope?

I like to think he looks a lot like his dad but his personality is mixed (though. Homophrosyne as they are). I wonder if he's got any latent naiad traits from Penelope

Okay, woah - listen if you ever want to ramble about how your composition works, I eould love to hear it! I think you‘re doing it masterfully

Haha well I'll give a bit of a ramble then, it won't be much on advice on how to do composition but more so just my thought process on how I draw it usually ^-^

For me, composition is the foundation to everything I draw, it's honestly the reason why I enjoy drawing even if it takes me hours (and I means hours) for me to finish something

Since I don't do sequential art often, it's really important that I convey everything I want in the single piece. Composition helps with that

Usually I often indicate a focal point in my art that's basically supposed to be where ppl's eyes end up to. Someone once said i'm the person that does the Circles which is true lol but i usually do that as a way to emphasize certain parts of a piece. It's a great way to guide the eye (and also makes for a nice dramatic halo)

I also like to add elements that direct themselves to those focal points (e.g. the fish guts dropping down or the smoke going towards the circle). Its a way to make everything have good flow that doesn't feel too disruptive

Understanding the "space" you're working with is also important! When u can split elements into foreground and background or understand how low or high angles work, you can create nice composition that's more dynamic. I would share examples of what I mean but they're mostly zines pieces which I can't share yet!

However, I think you can see what I mean here as well

Both use center compositions but have a slight difference in angle and foreground elements which i personally think can convey different feelings. The first feels like its extending outwards with the rope and slight low angle to create a grand reveal tone, whereas the second has a blurred and dark foreground with a still and straight camera angle to convey a tight feeling.

(These are my thoughts tho, not sure if others feel the same!)

I'm not perfect at composition tho, there's lots of perspective angles I suck at and want to learn more of. I do recommend studying photos or looking at your surroundings to understand what could look good or not. Even though most of my art doesn't really have a realistic background since I like to put abstract elements, its important to observe and understand the dynamic of our environments so it can be intergrated into your own art

Heyo! You most likely won't remember but I asked you a while ago about your composition in art and how you do it. You really helped me out a big deal with your explanation, and I lately even made an art piece for "Epic - The musical" where I tried to use what you explained. It's of course nowhere near your art, but it really helped me understand better how to think when I plan a drawing, and how the pieces should work together. All of them look cool, but I ended up sticking to my preference...

The long blonde hair remained the only consistency because, in the same manner as Dante's coat, it was a prop that was necessary to enhance the action scenes.

Trish's name comes from a woman named "Beatrice" in The Divine Comedy. Apparently, there was a woman in the poet Dante's personal life who was a model for him.

Since the name was too long, I decided to use the nickname "Trish".

All of these fics ARE complete, the coffee and mayhem series has smut in I think two? Of the works, but they are tagged and easily skipped if one so desires, and the rest are safe to read on public transit (unless you count violence as NSFW, but for these guys violence IS work so,)

I know I’ve already recommended it, but the

Coffee and Mayhem series by Sevi007 is SO GOOD. it’s 16 different works, with a combination of 200k+ words, but I promise it’s worth it. Specifically to START go with Part 2, Something’s Gotta Give, which is 4 chapters, 28k words of some snarky pre-canon nonsense, with a VERY paranoid Robotnik and a Stone who is not so secretly a little shit. This series is the DEFINITION OF SLOW BURN and I was literally kicking my feet at some parts from the stupidity. Great long read.

A Better Place by little_bugger is another pre-canon type work, (I have a type sue me) but this time it’s Stones POV, and the author REALLY fleshes out his character in some very interesting ways. Again, they don’t REALLY get together in this fic, but they do in the unspoken sense (another one of my favorite tropes) it’s 10k words, one chapter.

Seeing Ghosts by Bread_Bird made me cry I’m ngl. It’s a Robotnik comes back fic, written pre movie 2, and Stones POV is so well done. It’s one chapter, 6k words, but I’m gonna be real that I’ve re read this fic a bunch cause it’s short-ish and sweet.

A Balada in Bariloche by astramaxima, the second part of the Homeland series, Biiiiiitch. This fic has a delightful switch of POVs between chapters, a DELICIOUS amount of angst, and a worried but holding it in Robotnik that is just SO GOOD. again I may be biased with my love of angst but DAMN. Two chapters, almost 3k words
