With how Tristamp sets up major plot points in advance with the characters that they name drop or have appear and interact with and learn more about other characters throughout the series no matter how short their screen time was or how small their role to play at the time was, I think that Meryl along with Milly might be a bit more involved in the fight against Gray the Ninelives who really only fought against Wolfwood in Trimax.

Like yeah the girls show up but it's really only at the end and as comedic relief they literally just fall on top of them and knock them out, signalling that the fight's really over now. But like just look at how hyped they looked to fight, guns out and all.

But in Tristamp not only has Meryl gotten to meet and get to know some of Ship 3’s residents, becoming especially invested in Luida’s project in growing enough flora to terraform No Man’s Land into a green planet to lessen the burden on the Plants and ensure the survival of both species, making her more than willing and ready to fight for them given the chance,

but also she’s seen Gray as the both the mech suit in Ep3,

and as the nine people who control it in Ep10,

with her having seen and gotten to know more about them thanks to Conrad possibly setting up that she might actually be the way Wolfwood figures out that Gray is just a giant mech suit being piloted by nine people. And then they could work together to take them down.

Which would be pretty cool to see, maybe they could take three each, given that there aren’t a lot of instances that I can recall at least where Wolfwood fights alongside the girls, plus it’d make for good team building with Milly having just joined the gang. Also, after rewatching episode 4, specifically where right before Roberto’s taken by Zazie Wolfwood makes fun of Roberto’s derringer, it just ignited a want, a need really to see Wolfwood have his ass saved at least once by said derringer.

Speaking of which, there have also been multiple instances where allusions to David and Goliath were made in relation to Meryl in Trimax, notably in the few panels that show bits and pieces of her backstory that show how she got her first derringer, which Studio Orange expanded upon with Roberto, that lead me to believe this to be the case even more.

On top of that, I think that she might be reason for why they're simply going to have them locked up and not killed (wonder if seven of them are still going to be killed during the fight in S2) even after the damage they've dealt and the deaths they've caused seeing as she reacted with horror and pity when she learned about them from Conrad,

a sentiment Roberto himself doubled down on,

which while it might have enraged Elendira and sent her to come after them with her nails, leading to Roberto's death, and possibly souring Meryl's feelings about her, the same can't be said for Gray. @tristampparty

I saw your post about Cody's belongings. I noticed the pictures in the background. There's one of Charlie, a triple set of the brothers, a smaller solo frame of Dani, one of Dani with Cody. (Cute note: the photos have Cody when he was 9-10.) And there's six or seven that are blurry or have a glare. I was wondering if you knew any more about that, or saw any hint of Mrs. Burns.

I’m sure if there was any hint of Mrs. Burns the fandom would have scoped it out by now, lol. Unfortunately I don’t think there is any hint of Mrs. Burns at all in the show, but maybe you could imagine that one or a couple of the blurry pictures has her in it?

I’m impressed with the continuity of these pictures, honestly. It was rather pessimistic of me going into this to assume there would be errors! (And then there’s the layout of the house, which confuses and baffles me beyond belief and does have errors.)

Last year around the end of July to the beginning of August I went through the RWBY volume 8 credits because of stuff I was told at the time to see how many people in the crwby were still with the company. I did that and it was very time consuming, and I said that I would never do that again. Fast forward to last week when V10 didn't get greenlit while RvB and Camp Camp got renewed and I got curious. I decided to do what I did last year again and went over the V9 credits. This is what I found. I will get into specifics after presenting the numbers. The names I counted are the beginning section from supervising director to post production producer, then the entire crwby section that comes after the voice cast section.

Total number of employees- 190

Confirmed gone but could not find specific date- 2

Left in 2020- 4

Left in 2021- 26

Left in 2022- 77

Left in 2023- 24

Total confirmed gone- 133

Depending on whether or not you want to count the 10 I can't confirm still work there, then anywhere from 24-30% or 1/4-1/3 of the people who worked on v9 still work there. Before we get into specifics, I want to mention that I was just as shocked about the 2022 number as you probably are to the point that I thought I messed up and after going over everyone I did it again and specifically marked the employees that left in 2022 and got the same number.

Here are some specifics from job titles from the V9 EP10 credits-Of four episode directors only one is left. Of two head of studios, one is gone. The environment, vehicle and prop designers are gone save for two I can't confirm still work there due to their rt work being in their general freelance. The 2d concept artists along with additional help are gone. The storyboard artists are gone save for one I can't confirm works there due to rt work being in their general freelance. From lead modeler to environmental modelers, all except one character modeler are gone. From pre-visualization artists to camera and layout artists they are all gone. of seven visual post artists, one is left. From the FX Technical director to the visual post intern, they are all gone. From lead rigging artist to jr. rigging artist, they are all gone. From animation director to lead animators, they are all gone. Of nine senior animators only one remains. from technical animators to animation intern, they are all gone. From mo-cap co-director to mo-cap artists all but one are gone.

This is telling me that animation has been gutted. I'm assuming those left are working on Deathbattle, Camp Camp, and RvB. I'm also going to assume that as time goes on the number of those still there is going to decrease as several of those who are still around have open to work on their profiles which means either supplemental income or they know their contracts aren't getting renewed and are preparing.

Then they became something like friends:

Flying back to the Stepstones afterward, Prince Daemon landed at Driftmark to make a courtesy call upon his erstwhile partner in conquest, the Sea Snake, and his wife, the Princess Rhaenys. High Tide was one of the few places in the Seven Kingdoms where the king’s brother could be confident he would not be turned away.

Though I think they would clash in terms of the morality of actions taken during the war. It’s shown repeatedly that they give opposing advices to Rhaenyra when she seeks their council. That being said, they do share a common interest in resolving the war through diplomacy first before violence. Daemon just differs from Corlys in the sense that he won’t shy away from using violence to achieve his means whereas Corlys sees violence as more of a last resort thing. If Daemon represents chaotic upheaval then Corlys is traditional order.

There’s an interesting detail in the pre-ASOIAF material stating that house Velaryon abandoned Rhaenyra due to Daemon’s death. In The Princess and the Queen (2013), Addam is the reason for why house Velaryon turned against Rhaenyra. But The World of Ice and Fire (2014) puts forth the possibility that Daemon’s death played a part in house Velaryon turning against her too. So this might imply he was part of the reason Corlys originally supported Rhaenyra’s claim. It might be retconned though since the current canon material in Fire & Blood (2018) shows that the fallout from Rhaenyra declaring Addam a traitor is what leads to house Velaryon abandoning her. I’m referring to this passage specifically:

When her husband Prince Daemon fell, House Velaryon turned against her.

But like I said, this seems to have been retconned. Daemon’s role in being the reason house Velaryon turned against Rhaenyra was given back to Addam.

Fun fact: Daemon & Addam have parallel roles. (Show!Daemon in ep10 also has a scene where he’s getting men to swear their loyalty to Rhaenyra and this is very obviously lifted from book!Addam’s ‘dragon in the courtyard’ moment at Riverrun. If the showrunners didn’t think people would notice…well I noticed it!!!)

And I do believe Corlys might’ve viewed Daemon as sorta kinda like a son.

Fun fact #2: Corlys had a habit of giving crowns to Daemon. (With the Daemon/Laena match, I wonder if Corlys was considering a third crown for him as well.)
