He turned his attention back to his book, surreptitiously turning up the volume on the sound system that pumped music through the store. When the person still hadn't left he dropped his book to the counter with a sigh, turning to look at them. "Can I help you? The door is right there, I suggest you leave."

I actually think that dumbledore wasn't entirely wrong to compare the snape-james dynamic to draco-harry. it's just that draco is the james of it all, not harry. he's the one with the privilege, the loving parents who buy him nice things and send him sweets (which i'm also sure the potters did for james) and the more aggressive of the two.

perhaps draco wasn't quite as extreme as james in the end but things like the potter stinks badges, making fun of him publicly for fainting etc, all the rita skeeter stuff in GoF, trying to (presumably) get him to fall off his broomstick by dressing as a dementor, that is bullying. the nastier stuff draco did to harry and co. throughout the books was almost entirely unprovoked and unmatched by harry's actions towards him; draco fired the first shots trying to get harry expelled with the 'wizard's duel' when like, what had harry ever done to him other than not like him/reject his friendship.

I do think it's a less extreme version of snape-james as I said, but the parallels are definitely there, especially when you consider that it culminates in harry using sectumsempra on draco- a spell it's implied that sev created to use on james. it's somewhat more equal perhaps because harry is generally more popular than sev was at school, but there are also various points where harry is very unpopular, such as the entirety of OotP when Draco lords his status as prefect and then inquisitorial squad member over harry to torment him. like it is a rivalry but also draco is considerably nastier to harry and more aggressive than harry ever is to him.

harry typically holds his own better than sev appears to in SWM, but with the exception of HBP he usually has much more pressing matters distracting him to devote much energy towards hating draco. I also think Sev often could hold his own and probably did, that doesn't make it not bullying.

I've been stepping back from tumblr for a while because shipcourse makes me get angry and I don't like being angry, but honestly...

The fact is that antis often create proshippers* by treating neutrals negatively. I can't count the amount of people I know of whose neutral stance didn't last long because antis pressured them to state opinions or spread rumours about them.

I would ask "how hard is it to leave people who don't want to be involved in shipcourse alone?" but I already know that certain groups of people find that very hard indeed. Certain groups of people put their personal need to make themselves feel morally superior by harming those that they deem "bad" before everything else, and that includes the boundaries and needs of others.

When neutrals are harassed by antis, policed by antis, and continually pestered to pick a side, they won't pick the side that made them feel like they had to choose. These are nuanced issues and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but more and more people are adopting the proship label because antis are harassing them whether they use it or not.

Antishippers talk the big talk about people being manipulated into becoming proship, but unsurprisingly, a lot of people prefer to be around people who don't make being in favour of harassment over fiction a core part of their online identity.

I may not be neutral, but shoutout to the people who are, because they have to put up with much of the same crap that proshippers do. People have the right to not take a side, to have criticisms of both viewpoints, to keep their opinions private, and to enjoy their fandoms without the fighting. Or at least I think they do.

*And for anyone who is confused or conflicted about what proship means: I would advise you to use the definition given by people who use the label, instead of people who hate people who use the label.

Innes Von Yang— ‘Ivy’ or ‘IV’

she/they (nonbinary)

Vampire aesthetic. She also has a lollipop gimmick, as in, she'll go out on stage with one. She's starting bringing unopened ones onto stage to throw into the crowd since it became a thing, but it actually started because she ran onto stage one time with one and some fans thought it looked cool so she kept doing it.

Appearance wise, she has choppy dyed hair with white red and black in the mix. East asian girl with beige skin, but she does full face makeup on stage based around goth and vkei. Might do an outfit collage another time…

Goes by Ivy because it’s her initials (her parents thought von was a middle name and didn’t realize it’s meant to be part of the last name)

Her stage name though is IV, as in the hospital equipment, but cause it’s also the roman numerals for four, her lucky number. She started using it to match with Seven, and he has this as his tattoo because it’s always been ‘her number’ even before it was her stage name. She still has her tattoo as well, and doesn't bother to conceal it.

"Sev!" and "Ive!"

Similarly to how Seven doesn't like Duckstein, Ivy hates her first name and any variations of it, treating Ivy as her name. "Don't call me Nezzie!!" (unless it was high school and you were Seven getting back at them for calling you 'Ducky')

Needs glasses but wears contacts! They worked hard on that eye makeup goddammit!! They just wore glasses back in high school though.

Has a Soundcloud they’ve been using since middle school. They started posting solo songs there which are usually indie pop or some other experimental sound different from the band.

She used to play the violin, but stopped when she got older and focused more on being a vocalist and dance. Ironically? Not that good with plants.

Girl the first meeting between them and August was so funny. “August, meet IV, the one I was telling you about." “You can just call me Ivy. It's nice to meet you." “Isn’t that the same thing…?” “Nah. Ivy— I-V-Y is based off my initials. IV— I and V, is the Roman numeral four.” “…For?” “Yeah, four!” “No for what?” “What do you mean, four what? Four just…means four.”

Deadly arachnophobia. She screamed her fucking lungs out on the bus when they thought they saw one and climbed onto Rowan while shrieking at him to kill it (it was some thread).

They became way more bitter and cynical over time, but out of spite (towards their parents, the world, Seven—) remain stubbornly ambitious and laugh in the face of whatever tries to take her down. It’s just easier and less embarrassing to be volatile than wistful or a doormat. It's for the sake of pride, really.

Closeted Soft Violence fan. You will have to threaten to kill her (or catch her deeply off guard) before she even thinks of admitting this.

She projects anger and spite in front of Seven because she can't help herself. When it comes to being vulnerable, she would always stamp it down or try to cover it up. Inwardly, she’s just really sad and wanting for what’s not really there anymore and never will be. You’re in his dms I’m disgusted by the enormity of my desire!!! We are NOT the same!!!

This is similar to how she acts around her parents. She still really wants to have a relationship with them but feels she's the one who has consistently had to try to have that, which makes her bitter and embarrassed as an adult. They make her feel like a meek little kid again and this time she doesn't even have Seven to fall back on when that happens-- which makes the feeling worse. AUGHH!!!

She’s really only chasing fame because that has to be what makes all of this hurt and effort worth it. Otherwise, genuinely, what was it all for? To share their music? Don't fuck with them like that. It stopped being about 'their' music when Seven left. They're a damn good band, Ivy loves her friends, and she has fun-- but it's just not the same goal without him around anymore.

Used to hate confrontation, but now dives into drama for the hell of it (even if she won’t start it herself necessarily). Generally hates being underestimated or pitied, and doesn’t like getting help because they’re not a ‘charity case.’ Has become kind of trashy and plays comic relief with Rowan alot. Speaking of him...

Her ship name with Rowan was originally ‘IRow’ (Ivy’s a shameless atla fan) but was quickly overtaken by ‘Bloody Hart.’ They’re not into each other but they did kiss while drunk once (which for them kinda solidified the fact they aren't into each other). Fans also coined ‘Snivy’ for her and Seven, though the two never dated.

Is rooting for Piercehart. She has the edits that have started rolling in saved on her camera roll already. They've also been victims of the shipping culture though #AutumnIvy (a typo that just...stuck? August isn't even a fall month!)

Started believing in the idea of fate after Seven left the band. If it brought them together once it can do it again (she refuses to think about it or accept this being the real reason why yet and just chalks it up as her committing to the bit.)

Worst Demeanor: Tweeted ‘Taylor Swift is mid’ then put their phone on dnd for the next two days. She still has it pinned to her profile.

Introducing Arlo Beck, lead singer of Penny Arcade, a pop punk band of humble origins known most for their musically delivered political commentary and their revenge anthems (it is of particular note that such anthems were not common in the Lawless Era, with the band leaning far more heavily into charged love songs. Which could mean nothing.)

Beck is often cited as the source for Penny Arcade’s ‘gimmick’ of collecting loose change in collection bins during a dedicated song at every performance. The change is then matched and donated to queer and at risk youth. Beck remains firm that every member of Penny Arcade, past and present, is equally responsible.

Arlo is wearing a WWOD? bracelet in the pic! The band got together to make bracelets with Orion’s most recent catchphrase while waiting for filming to start. Arlo made his particularly fruity. He also made a keychain version for Orion.

The time on Arlo’s phone is a nod to MCx7. Seven is, well, 7. And Arlo is 1 & 2 because his initials are the first and second letters of the alphabet. Hence, 7:12.

Arlo’s initial tattoo utilizes the S in SD as an infinity symbol. He acknowledges it is cringy. And poetically tragic.

Not shown is his tongue piercing, which Orion chewed him out for getting because his tongue was swollen and his speech slurred for nearly two weeks!

As stated above, he likes to wear motifs of his band members! Because he is a doofus! Most common because it’s his daily accessories is a heart motif for Rowan, but he also has jellyfish pendants and vampire bite chokers for Iris and different color bee pins for Devyn depending on their hair color! Jazzy is represented in the case he carries his juggling equipment in, which he takes literally everywhere after she bought him one for his birthday years ago. He is currently racking his brain for what to do for August!

43 of the 57 missed calls on his phone were from Orion. He knows because Orion’s ringtone is I Don’t Dance from High School Musical 2.

He is heavily addicted to nicotine (to Orion’s chagrin) and became a functioning (for now) alcoholic after The Fight™️. Prior, he imbibed during social functions but never alone and never when he had plans. Up until the audition, he never partook in other substances but caved into peer pressure. Despite his snark and notorius RBF, he is a chronic people pleaser.

The eyebrow slit is a scar from slicing his eyebrow open in Lucy’s diner after crashing head first into the dish station and shattering a plate. With his face. The scar is almost entirely faded but he can no longer grow hair there. He’s actually really insecure about it and has considered getting the spot microbladed.

Of course he wouldn't even manage to be free from death eaters in this place. It couldn't even be said that Rabastan was a lesser evil... he had always been one of the most devout, one that needed careful watching. "Aren't you supposed to be in azkaban with the rest?" The only way to deal with him would be to go head on, rather than trying to avoid him. Severus knew that would only cause more problems down the road.

SevFi might be one of my favorite ships just because any version of it is so ridiculously toxic all the way through. Such potential. It's so crunchy.

Sev is a sniper (they literally recruit for ice-cold killers for this job traditionally). He's singled out for his aggressive brutality, called a psychopath by other clones and by his own trainer. He paints his armor to look like someone clawed at him with bloody hands and left it covered in gore, and only his brothers know whether he used paint or real blood. He's quiet, socially withdrawn, which just contributes to the overall impression, but is driven to succeed at any cost. He's doggedly devoted to his fucked up father figure who sees him as little more than a tool, he regards failing him as the worst thing he could do. He loves his brothers so fiercely, knows they'll understand his grim humor and play into it. He does have a sense of humor, it's just so dark most people don't see it or are unsettled by it when they do.

Fi is also a sniper, but unlike Sev, is cross-trained as a medic. He's singled out because he's constantly smiling, joking, listening to bops and generally being more extroverted and good-natured than most clones. Yet he outlived his first squad, watched the brothers he grew up with die, and in his new squad he will make sure that never happens again. He's ferociously dedicated to these men from almost the beginning of their first mission, is willing to go toe-to-toe with Delta Squad over Atin and Kal. He'll throw himself on a grenade for brothers he doesn't even know. He has the father figure relationship Sev wishes he did, but still yearns for more, wants so badly to be normal. He collects souvenirs from his deployments like he can turn their progenitors from traumatic battlefields into trips abroad. He makes jokes out of everything.

They are polar opposites and yet. AND YET. Two sides of the same coin to me. I can see the way their relationship would look so clearly and it's atrocious. Sev desperately needing it to be a secret because it's Not Vau Approved, Fi desperately wanting a normal life, wanting true love. The way the hate would be so one-sided - as soon as Fi understood Sev, his anger would fizzle out because he could never hold a grudge for long, not like Sev could. The persistent guilt eating its way into any relationship they might have, most of it Sev's. The aggressively upbeat manner Fi would ramp up just because he knew it got under Sev's skin. The fact that it would get even more under Sev's skin because he'd be so deeply convinced he could never deserve love or affection and not know what to do with it, would lash out. The way Fi would be so desperate for that romantic connection he'd put up with Sev's bullshit, take every little inch Sev gave him and every look under that cold exterior as evidence that he really was special, one of the only people Sev would let close outside his squad. He'd be the Nice Guy as Sev pushed and pushed, until he hit his breaking point and reminded Sev that he, too, was given a job that requires him to track targets, watch them live their lives and shoot them dead without any semblance of self defense, never asking questions. Fi shows his affection towards Ordo with punches and insults, so he understands violence as a form of comradery and affection even if Sev can never quite draw lines or stick to them. Sev has a soft heart and Fi has beskar under his sunny disposition. They would piss each other off like nothing else and yet become so sickeningly reliant on each other that they couldn't help but circle back and circle back...

you can’t completely avoid any character in infamous especially in a story in which you are forced to be put in situations on a TV show built for drama and doing that would mean I’d have to rework full scenes so I can’t exactly do that, your MC does not have to be happy about interacting with seven but much like in real life, we have to interact with co-workers we don’t like …

a lot of people hate Blake but I can’t write them out of certain scenes, I’ve been told multiple times that people don’t want to deal with G like idk that’s the way of the game IK it’s interactive fiction but it’s still a story with a plot and a purpose at the end of the day…MC is part of an ensemble cast on a television show, they dont run the show so they have to do things they dont want to do sometimes!

I try my best to give the option to keep Seven at arms length but there are also sevenmancers I have to take account of, people who want to interact with sev whether to romance them or to simply learn more about their shared history

not to mention that sev is a vital part of the band's storyline and the band route so things need to be established with them for the band's arc to make sense

What I can do is I can try to add the option to ignore Seven and cut a scene short if it’s not important, but I cant promise that every scene will be like that. Unfortunately, MC will have to interact with Seven on occasion lol

Cory is like actively trying to make sure that happens as well
