Soldier

2 Timothy 2:3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

Enduring Hardness

2 Timothy 2:9 Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.

2 Timothy 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

The war of the Soldier

Ephesians 6.12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

2 Corinthians 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:10:4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds).

It is important to be sober

1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:5:9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

No soldier gets entangled with the affairs of this life

2 Timothy 2:4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.2:17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Masteries

2 Timothy 2:5 And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive (lawfully).

Romans 2:13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.2:14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:2:15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another).
