Can we talk about the fact that nobody knows François Villon’s real name because he’s referenced in multiple LEGAL DOCUMENTS under two separate surnames?? Idk if this was confusion on the courts part or if fraud was his thing too but I do find it interesting that he smashed Sermoise’s head in with a rock and then was pardoned after two petitions were received claiming the guy forgave him before he died-- HOW?

In June 1455 he was attacked by a priest, Philippe Sermoise, who cut his lip with a large dagger; in self-defense, Villon wounded Sermoise in the groin with a small dagger he kept under his cloak. When the priest did not desist from the attack, Villon hit him in the head with a rock.
