he would first of all ask you what happened for you to be in such a mood, listening carefully to you rant about what made you so upset that your body was trembling and then mutter a low: “that must’ve been rough.” to which you simply nod sighing, then he nudges at your arm with his elbow to make you turn toward him. “i think you did amazing though and knowing you i’m sure you’ll make it.”, when you ask him how is he so sure dabi looks you straight in the eyes and replies “because i believe in you.”, which takes you by surprise, but he was confident in his words because he more than anyone else knew how hard and painful it can be to try reach your goals when no one believes in you and that you can do it. seeing you like that had brought a forgotten pain into his chest, even though he didn’t let it show, so... he wanted to tell, you the only person that now believes in him, that he too believes in you and your capabilities.

when he saw your eyes light up and shoulders relax, his lips curled in a relieved smile that he covered right away with a fake cough when your eyes darted up to him, but you had caught it and smiled thankfully at your boyfriend.

BnHA Chapter 295: So How Are You Holding Up (Because I’m a Potato)

Previously on BnHA: Horikoshi randomly and graciously decided to answer all of our long-standing questions about Mr. Compress, including “is he secretly hot,” “is he secretly related to that Robin Hood thief guy,” and “is he ever going to use his quirk to chain chomp a hole right through his ass??” with the answer to all three being “yes, of course.” As for our follow-up questions, “sir, is Mr. Compress going to die,” and “holy shit,” his answers were, respectively, “wait and see,” and, “I understand, really I do, but that isn’t actually a question.” Well, he’s got us there.

Today on BnHA: Horikoshi finally ends the War arc with the speed and grace of an overworked college student scrambling to BS their entire midterm essay with five minutes left before the deadline. Deku’s Spidey Sense is all “what up, I exist, p.s. you’re in danger kid” like oh shit, no, you think?? Compress is all “I’m not gonna die but I am going to pass out and be captured” and honestly, at this point I’ll take it. Spinner is all “Tomura you can have this one last Souvenir Hand I found that was in the oven for too long” and slaps it on his face because HE’S JUST TRYING TO BE HELPFUL, SHUT UP. Dabi is all, “[currently in a marble].”Tomura is all “actually, I’m AFO.” AFO is all “hahahahaha” and summons all of the remaining Noumus to cart him and Spinner and Dabi off to safety. Deku is all “DAMMIT TOMURA I’M REALLY MAD AT YOU FOR KILLING, AND I QUOTE, ‘AN UNBELIEVABLE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE’, BUT AT THE SAME TIME, GET THIS, I TOTALLY WANT TO SAVE YOU TOO! so this is really the end of the arc then! or at least I hope, good lord. anyways, all right then so let’s do a quick status check:

it looks like the Noumu are hauling Tomura and Spinner away to safety, but it doesn’t look like they managed to save Machia or Compress. this honestly might be in Compress’s best interests though. the heroes can get him some medical help along with Kacchan and Endeavor and everyone else

Dabi is apparently hidden inside Spinner’s scarf, but do they have any way of releasing him without Compress there to undo the quirk? will he be all right in there. like how is he going to get food and water and air and stuff lol. does it wear off after a bit? can Compress undo it when he wakes up, even if he’s in custody? is there a distance limit on it?

and Skeptic was presumably turned into a marble as well, but Compress didn’t bother mentioning him at all. nobody cares about poor Skeptic lol

and bonus AFO theories status check:

Dad for One - AFO called Deku worthless and hasn’t seemed to take the least bit of interest in him despite getting to see his fancy SIXQUIRKS up close and personal. so if he is his dad he sure as heck is a terrible one, that’s all I can say

All for One for All/Deku is a horcrux - well the Spidey Sense seems to offer an alternative explanation to why Deku could sense AFO’s presence, but on the other hand it doesn’t explain why AFO was able to sense Deku’s as well (seeing his dreams and such). still thinking there’s a connection there, guys, idk

AFO is the final villain - five words for you: “EVERYTHING IS FOR MY SAKE.” is that concrete enough yet lol. pretty sure this arc marked both the beginning and end of Tomura’s brief stint as the Big Bad. Deku’s got it in his mind to save him now somehow, and we all know what happens when Deku starts getting determined to save people. look out AFO

as for the heroes, they’re all varying degrees of Fucked and I think it’s honestly too much to even take stock of at this point. maybe if I get a rush of hyperfixation in the next couple days or so I’ll do a separate post analyzing the impact of this arc and where things currently stand and where they might be headed from here

but in the meantime, ngl, this chapter was kind of a hot mess lmao. but whatever, I don’t even care because at least he managed to get all of it done within the allotted 17 pages, meaning that next week (or rather two weeks from now, sob) we really can get moving onto the aforementioned Triage arc! Offers and Threats

Hey guys! I know I said that the next chapter would involve Christmas and Birthdays, but trust me, this chapter will help in the future in another. Also, I had to tone down on the adorableness and cuteness for this chapter. And again, I do not own Boku no Hero Academia, its characters, or its locations. They are all owned by Kohei Horikoshi, Jump Comics, and Funimation.

It was a beautiful Wednesday afternoon in the month of November at U.A. High and Class 1-A were gathering their things for the end of the day. As they were preparing to see the little bundle of joy that called them 'Mama' and 'Papa', Ochako and Midoriya were both wondering about what they should serve Eri for dinner that night. They had put out some ground beef the night before in the fridge, so that left how to include vegetables and how to create it in a way that would surprise her.

"Maybe we could try meatloaf?" Midoriya asked before he dismissed it, knowing that Eri had that dish last week.

"What about tacos?" Ochako asked before she realized that Eri would probably never touch another one of those after the incident back during the beginning of the month. One Tuesday, Class 1-A decided to have tacos for dinner, to which Eri was more than excited for. However, things had taken a turn for the worse that night. As it turned out, Mineta had tried to pull a prank on Kaminari by putting hot sauce in his taco. Unfortunately, the taco had accidently ended up on Eri's plate. Needless to say, Eri ended up crying from the burning sensation and Mineta ended up sleeping outside, his face all black and blue from the smacks he received from Ochako and the girls, as well as from Kaminari and Bakugou.

"How about..." Midoriya began, but stopped when he noticed that Mr. Aizawa was standing right in front of them with a note in his hand.

"Midoriya. Uraraka." He said as he handed them the note. "The principal would like to speak with you both in his office."

Midoriya and Ochako looked at each other in surprise; neither one of them had done anything wrong in the past few months, unless you counted Midoriya and Bakugou's second fight before they began their internships and met Eri. As they made their way to the principal's office, they began to wonder the worst.

"You don't think something bad happened to Eri, do you?" Ochako asked as they neared the principal's office.

"No." Midoriya said simply. "If something had happened to her, Mr. Aizawa would have told us himself."

After a few minutes, the two students arrived outside the principal's office. Taking a deep breath, both entered to find the little talking animal standing in front of them.

"Ah, Midoriya. Uraraka." Nezu said as he raised his right paw and waved. "How nice of you to join us."

'Us?' Both students thought as they glanced around. 'Who else is…?' Their thoughts were soon answered when they saw two people to their left.

One was a large, burly man in his 40s with bulging muscles that were shown through his business suit. He had a scar over his right eye, had a tattoo of a dragon's head on the other side of his face, and wore an expression of utmost anger on his face. It was enough to have both Midoriya and Uraraka shaking from shear intimidation.

The other was a man in his 60s, bound in a wheelchair. He had wispy white hair and a somewhat athletic frame for someone his age. Even though his skin was wrinkled, Uraraka and Midoriya could still make out the various tattoos on his arms. They also noticed that the pinkie on his right hand was much smaller than the other fingers, as though it was crudely cut off. 'Yakuza.' They both thought.

"You must be Izuku Midoriya and Ochako Uraraka." The old man asked as the bigger man wheeled his chair over to the two students. The old man than gave the best bow he could, while Midoriya and Uraraka themselves gave bows out of respect. "My name is Shinobu Noshimuri. This is my escort, Raiki Watanabe." He added as he gestured to the man behind him. Watanabe only grunted in response. "Perhaps," Noshimuri continued, "it would be best if we could all have a seat." At this, the five of them made their way into the conference room next door. Once inside, Noshimuri and Watanabe sat on one end of the table while Midoriya and Uraraka sat on the other. Nezu sat within the middle between them.

"Now then," Noshimuri began, "you are probably wondering why I wished to speak with you two." Uraraka and Midoriya only nodded in response. Giving a small smile, Noshimuri said, "Lately, it has come to my attention that you and a few other heroes fought against my old syndicate, The Eight Precepts of Death. Also," he continued, "It has also come to my attention that you also aided in the rescue of a young girl named Eri, to whom I hold and care for dearly."

"Forgive me, Mr. Noshimuri," Midoriya said upon hearing his 'daughter's' name, "but how exactly do you know all of this?"

"Well, to tell you the truth, my boy," Noshimuri said with a sense of confidence, "I was the Capo for said group and was the teacher of Kai Chisaki, until a few months ago when I fell ill and gave control of the group to him. And to answer your question about Eri…she is my granddaughter."

At this revelation, Uraraka and Midoriya's eyes widen in shock. They had heard that Eri had a grandfather, but they never knew that he was alive and a former leader of the group that was holding her captive.

"When I got out of the hospital," Noshimuri said, not noticing the change in the teens' faces, "I had heard about what Chisaki had done to both the organization and to my little Eri. Needless to say, I was shocked and appalled by the details. So it's safe to say that I showed no remorse when I saw on the news that they found his burned remains. A perfect example of justice being served, if I do say so myself."

"B-But…" Uraraka stuttered slightly, still in shock by the previous announcement, "Wh-What does this have to do with Deku and I?"

"Ah, yes," Noshimuri said as he made a hand motion toward Watanabe, who picked up two black briefcases and placed them on the table. "I wish to commend you both for taking my granddaughter into your home. From what Nezu has told me," he added as he gestured toward the biped animal, "Eri has been taken good care of and that she has been extremely happy thanks to you two. For that, I am forever grateful. So, I wish to reward you both for all that you have done." After he motioned with his hand once more, Watanabe pushed the two briefcases toward Uraraka and Midoriya. As they caught said briefcases, the two students felt a strong force surge through their bodies, as a way of indicating Watanabe's strength.

When they opened the briefcases, Midoriya and Uraraka's eyes widen in shock: both cases were stuffed with cash. Chuckling at their amazement, Noshimuri said, "Consider what's in those briefcases compensation for any expenses you may have lost from raising Eri, plus a little extra to show my appreciation for what you've done. All in all, each briefcase contains 120 million yen."

Uraraka and Midoriya couldn't believe what they were seeing; 120 million yen was being given to them for taking care of Eri. Midoriya's mind raced at the thought of having all that money. He could pay off an outstanding student payments. He could give some to his mother as a way of saying thanks for raising him all those years when he was quirkless and had nearly lost hope of ever becoming a superhero. He could pay for Eri's tuition; she could go to the best public colleges in all of Japan!

Uraraka mind was going through a similar process. Not only could this be good for both them and Eri, but she could give a majority of this money to her parents. It was always her goal to become a hero and earn enough money to give her parents the life they deserved. The money in front of her could be used to kick start that goal. "So," she said as she glanced away to look at Noshimuri, "This is all for us?"

"Indeed," he said before a look of seriousness spread across his face, "if you were to return Eri to me."

Any hopes and dreams that formulated into Uraraka and Midoriya's minds were immediately shattered when those words came out of Noshimuri's mouth. Slowly, they looked up with impassive looks on their faces. "Give…Eri…back to you?" Midoriya asked slowly.

"Indeed." Noshimuri said with a nod. "She is my granddaughter, after all. Though I can assure you, she will be placed in a better home and will be treated well. When available, we could even set days when she could meet you two for a day."

Uraraka and Midoriya looked down at the money, still untouched. With this, they could use to help not just themselves, but their parents as well. Goals could be met, better living arrangements could be made, and even tuition wouldn't be a problem.

But it would mean having to give up perhaps the most precious thing in their lives. Eri was a child who suffered so much at a young age, and yet who always had a smile on her face whenever she made someone happy. She was selfless, caring, obedient, and was willing to help in any way she could. And then, there was the promise they made to her months ago:

"It's okay, Eri. We're here. You just had a bad dream, that's all."

"But….But it seemed so real."

"Believe us, Eri, we will never leave you, not in a million years."

As the two looked at each other, they both knew their answer.

"We're sorry, Mr. Noshimuri." Midoriya said as he and Ochako closed their cases and pushed them toward the old man. "But we cannot accept these terms."

"If the problem is the money," Noshimuri said as Watanabe took the briefcases, "then I can surely offer you le-"

"The problem isn't about the money." Uraraka interrupted as she and Midoriya rose from their chairs. "It's about Eri. We cannot let you take her away from us."

A long silence loomed through the air as the two students stared at the criminal and his underling. After a while, Noshimuri rubbed the bridge of his nose and said, "I don't think you two understand what I said to you earlier. Eri is my granddaughter; I am her only living relative. Legally, she belongs with me."

"Oh, believe us, we understood." Midoriya said. "We know she's your granddaughter and we know she belongs with you." It was at that moment that his impassive expression turned dark as he glared at Noshimuri. "But do you honestly think we would give her up to you, a known head of a Yakuza gang that consisted of villains?"

"A man who turned his own flesh and blood over to a bunch of criminals so that they could do experiments on her." Ochako stated, her glare as equal as Midoriya's. "A man who knew the monster that he not only took under his wing, but also performed horrid experiment on a little girl."

"And you expect us to believe that you'll just put her in a safer environment than she was before we took her in?" Midoriya asked as he clenched his fists in anger. "You'll probably just leave her in the hands of others who just want to experiment on her even more. So if you think we're just going to accept your dirty money and give Eri away, then you can forget about it."

Noshimuri's once soft gaze changed into an angry glare. "I would be careful with what you say next." He growled deeply. "I am not asking you; I am telling you: if you do not give me my granddaughter, I will-"

"That is enough." Nezu said finally as he stood up from his chair and onto the table. "I will not tolerate any threats made to my students. And I must agree with Mr. Midoriya and Ms. Uraraka." He added as he slowly made his way to Noshimuri. "You may be Eri's legitimate family member, but you are also a criminal. The police entrusted U.A. High School to look after Eri and, thus, protect her from any harm that may come to her. In turn, I entrusted Mr. Midoriya and Ms. Uraraka to look after her and care for her. And from what I have heard from their fellow classmates and Eri's teacher, they have done a much better job in raising her than you or anyone else from your organization had ever done."

"Tough talk coming from a flea-infested, walking, talking, rodent freak." Watanabe finally said in a deep, menacing voice.

"This coming from the human gorilla." Nezu retorted, brushing the insult off as if it were dust on his suit. "Sure, you could try and have your assistant kill the three of us, Mr. Noshimuri," He continued, turning his attention back to the crime lord, "but I will remind you that this school houses some of the finest future heroes as well as many pro heroes who would be more than willing to take you both down in an instant. And one or two students aren't against killing a criminal." He added, making a slight reference to Bakugou. "So do us all a favor. Take your filthy money, take your lackey, and get off this campus."

Watanabe gnashed his teeth together, but Noshimuri held up a hand to silence him. Without another word, Watanabe placed both briefcases on his back and pushed his boss' wheelchair away from the table. As they reached the door, however, Noshimuri shot one last look of hatred toward Midoriya and Uraraka. "You'll both regret not taking me up on my offer." He growled through gritted teeth. "This isn't over." And with that, the crime boss and his lackey exited the room.

A few seconds of silence passed in the room as Midoriya, Uraraka, and Nezu's eyes were still fixated on the door. Soon, though, their expressions soon softened and Midoriya and Uraraka fell back into their seats. "You both did the right thing." Nezu said as he stood in front of them. "It takes true love and care of a person to deny an offer that incredible."

"Yeah," Midoriya said, "but what do we do now? We just made enemies with a Yakuza boss whose Eri's grandfather."

"I do have a few suggestions." Nezu said. "First, it might be best to have Eri spend some nights in Ms. Uraraka's room from time to time so as to not have her sleeping quarters be routine. Second, it would best to not let Eri go off campus for the rest of the month, lest someone tries to abduct her. Perhaps let her have playdates with that Satsuki girl at your dormitory. Finally, it would be best not to tell Eri about what was discussed here today. She is still recovering from her experience and we would not want any wounds to open up. If all of those seem reasonable, you are both dismissed and may head back to your dormitory."

Midoriya and Uraraka nodded; those did seem like fair suggestions. With that, they packed up their belongings and made their way out of the room. "I meant what I said earlier." Nezu said as the students reached the door. "About the fact that you two are raising Eri better than that dreadful organization. Even though it may be a while until Eri fully heals mentally, she seems to enjoy her life thanks to you two and the rest of Class 1-A." Midoriya and Uraraka both smiled at the principal for his kind words. And with that, they exited the room. 'I just hope they remember that Eri's stay is only temporary.' Nezu thought sadly as he watched them leave.

Neither Midoriya nor Uraraka spoke another word about the incident until they got to the 1-A dormitory. "We should probably tell the others about this so that they can be aware as well." Midoriya said.

"Agreed." Uraraka responded. "But we should wait until after we put Eri to bed." Midoriya nodded, and with that, both students entered the building only to be met by the rest of their classmates.

"What happened?" Momo asked in concern. "We heard that you both went to the principal's office."

"Was it about the hot sauce incident?" Mineta asked nervously.

"Did it have something to do with your grades?" Iida asked with annoyance. "I know you like spending time with Eri, but if you both wish to become heroes, your grades must come first."

"Mama? Papa?" A small voice asked. The class parted to reveal Eri, who was staring up at Midoriya and Uraraka with concern. "What's wrong?"

Both students smiled softly as Uraraka placed her hand on Eri's head. "It's nothing, sweetie." She replied. "Have you eaten yet?" When the little girl shook her head, Uraraka took her hand and led her into the kitchen.

Midoriya started to follow, but not before turning to his fellow classmates with a look of seriousness on his face. "Uraraka and I will explain everything later." He said quietly so as to not let Eri hear him. "We're asking that you all wait until Eri has been put to bed." And with that, he took his leave.

The rest of the evening continued without any incidents. After dinner, Ochako asked Eri if she would like to spend a few nights in her room, as a nice change of pace. Eri was more than happy to sleep in Uraraka's room from time to time, whispering to her that there was so much All Might memorabilia a person could intake or see. At around 8pm, Uraraka and Midoriya took Eri upstairs to bed. After tucking her in, they each gave her a good-night kiss before they closed the door.

After the easy part of the evening was done, they made their way down the stairs until they reached the living room, where they found the rest of Class 1-A staring back at them. "So," Bakugou said in an annoyed tone, "are you gonna tell us what happened or not?"

And with that, Midoriya and Uraraka told them everything, but in a quiet tone so as to not wake up Eri. About Noshimuri and that he was Eri's grandfather, how he offered them 120 million yen each in exchange for Eri, how they rejected his offer, and how he threatened them before he left. As they finished their story, they glanced around to see mixed reactions. Iida, Shouto, and a few others were shaking their heads in either shock or disgust. Momo, Mina, Aoyama, Tsuyu, and others had a hand over their mouths in shock. Mineta and a few just stood there with blank expressions on their faces. Bakugou and Kirishima, on the other hand, were clenching their fists in anger.

"Goddamn bastard." Bakugou said with a snarl. "Thinking that a little kid could be easily bought. You should've slammed his face into a wall, Deku." He added as he directed his glare at Midoriya.

"We didn't want things to get out of hand, Kacchan." Midoriya said calmly. "Besides, if we did attack Noshimuri, we would be proving that we're no better than him." Bakugou only replied with a scoff.

"Though I will agree with the principal." Iida said as he placed a hand on Midoriya and Uraraka's shoulders. "You both did the right thing about not accepting that money." At this, the rest of the class nodded in agreement.

"So what do we do now about Eri?" Mina asked with concern.

"Nezu told us that it would be best to keep an eye on Eri and her surroundings for the time being." Uraraka said. "He also said to not let her off-campus for the rest of the month. If she wants to spend time with friends like Satsuki, then they can hang out here." She added as she glanced at Tsuyu, who nodded in agreement.

"But the two of us cannot do this alone." Midoriya chimed in. "We need all of you to help out in any way you can. After the Simulation Joint and Training Camp invasions, we can't be too careful. Noshimuri has powerful connections in the underworld. Heck, Overhaul had connections with the League of Villains. We have to be on guard."

All the other students nodded in agreement; by angering the former head of the organization that held Eri captive, they had just made a whole new list of enemies. "Now then," Iida said after a while, "I'm sure the two of you are exhausted after what happened. I would thus suggest that you both head up to bed."

Midoriya and Uraraka both nodded; it had indeed been a rough day for them. Silently, they made their way upstairs. When they made it to the second floor, Midoriya turned to Uraraka. "Hey Uraraka," he said, "Mind if I accompany you to your room?" It was then that Uraraka's face turned a bright shade of pink. Noticing what she may have interpreted from what he said, Midoriya's face turned an equal shade as he waved his hands back and forth nervously. "I-I-I j-j-just wanted t-t-t-to check on Eri, that's all!" He stammered. At this explanation, Uraraka calmed down. With a nod, they both made their way up the stairs.

When they reached Uraraka's room, they opened the door slowly so as to not wake Eri up. They glanced in to see her curled up under her blanket, cuddling up with the Midoriya plushie that Momo had made for her a week ago. The memory of that day still brought a smile to both Midoriya and Uraraka's faces. When Koji had shown Eri the teddy bear and giraffe plushies in his room, he offered to let her have one of them. When she kindly refused, Momo offered to make one for her of her choosing. After thinking for a while, Eri asked if she could make a plushie of Midoriya, which was followed by a collection of "DAAAAAW"s from the girls. Midoriya, at that time, didn't know whether to blush in embarrassment or cry tears of joy.

Midoriya and Uraraka couldn't help but smile. They may have made a new enemy in Shinobu Noshimuri, but that would be an issue for another time. Right now, Eri was safe and happy with her life and with people who loved and cared for her. As they continued to watch Eri smile in her sleep, they remembered another reason why they turned down Noshimuri's offer. She may have been worth only 240 million yen to him, but to Midoriya and Uraraka…she was priceless.

BNHA Chapter 159: Thoughts and Spoilers

Simple, this was a great way to wrap up the fight. I was glad we got to see all the characters that participated in the raid. So let’s get into it.

I was wrong in my guess about the relationship between Chrono and Overhaul. Apparently they have been friends for a long time, and Chrono has absolute faith in Overhaul (to bad they were up against some grade A heroes). And dang, Chrono was ready to straight up murder Aizawa. I mean, I know that Chrono is a villain, but killing someone who can’t protest at all is less of murder and more of an execution. Good thing my boy Suneater came in with that swordfish that Fatgum gave him what feels like ages ago. Suneater even had his buddy Lemillion with him, I am really glad that it was Amajiki that found Mirio, it is fitting. Then “Ribbit-Ribbit girl” comes in and you know any scene with Tsuyu instantly becomes significantly better.

Deku is busting up Overhaul, freaking judo flipping the massive monster after a flurry of 100% punches. Notice this to: Deku flipped Overhaul in a space that Overhaul had already destroyed, keeping damage to a minimum. I really like how conscious of the whole situation the heroes are. Now we get to see Overhaul’s face, and I was surprised by the plainness of it. The dirty/bruising that he has on his face gives an amazing sense of roundness (Kirishima had this awesome shading on his face too right after his fight with Rappa), I am always impressed with Horikoshi’s artistic style. Speaking of art style, the sheer intensity of Eri’s quirk on Deku and her surroundings is a sight to behold.

Eri’s quirk has the potential to be gentle as Deku said, but at the current unrestrained stage, I can kinda see where Overhaul is coming from. The usage of her quirk pains Eri and the effects seem like a mix between an explosion and a lightning strike. While, Deku is simply trying to withstand Eri’s ability, Overhaul has one last surge of strength. His eyes are whited out in this scene so my conclusion is that Overhaul is strong in his convictions, they are so deeply rooted that he continued the fight after he no longer was conscious. That may be a bit too exaggerated, but he definitely was not thinking straight, he continued fighting on instinct. As much as he became an ass towards the end, I gotta admire the tenacity he has.

Buuuuuttt that last effort was proven worthless with Eri’s power. Not only did she stop Overhaul’s attack, but she also pried the big guy out of Overhaul’s mixed form and healed Overhaul (though he remained unconscious). Without missing a beat, Uraraka jumps in and restrains Overhaul. Honestly I am so amazed with this. She was watching this fight go down and the instant, the very instant she sees an opening, she seizes it. Plus the fact that Overhaul is most dangerous with his hands, so she has the precision to grab the wrists to keep herself safe. She never forgot any of the training she underwent with Gunhead too and I am amazed with that. Forgetting something like a takedown I feel would be incredible easy to do if you are actively practicing it all the time (what’s the term? Headcanon? Aiight, so headcanon that Uraraka asks her classmates to be practice buddies and she just f*cking throws them down to the point she scares some of them and she has to ask someone else).

Eri is still using her quirk. It is genuinely terrifying. IN one of the scenes she looks like a little demon with the horn to match. I don’t know if Eri will go into hero work or not, but if she does she will be a force to be reckoned with, but most importantly I want Eri to have a loving family and a happy life. Also massive props to Tsuyu for realizing that Aizawa is trying to help and immediately puts him into a position where he can help. Seriously, all the heroes have A+ fighting sense and cooperation, it’s great that they all work so well together. I don’t really get why Aizawa apologizes to Deku for using his quirk, I suppose there might be some feeling of etiquette that Aizawa has to deal with the same way the Shinso might feel bad about using his quirk on a friend.

Then Eri falls into Deku’s arms (freaking beautiful panel). We see all the heroes checking up on each other, Kirishima being extracted from his little hospital room (love how tall Fatgum is), heroes talking with police officers, villains being detained and police officers going through the rounds to check for civilian injuries and searching for Twice and Toga. Sir even manages to tell Deku did in fact manage to twist the future, even though he has a spire going through his body and is missing an arm. I guess it is kinda ironic that Sir now has an injury that matches All Might’s, since both injuries are lower right abdomen.

Slight tangent, I am not sure how I feel about Deku coming out of Eri’s power completely fine. I understand that he was in immense pain right after the fight while the reversal was still happening, but I figured there would be some kind of long term effect, since that is a theme that is consistently brought up. I think someone pointed out that one of the scars on Deku’s arm was missing too? (though that could just be the angle) So not only did he come out of this unscathed (generally) but miraculously healed to the point that his arms aren’t on the verge of being unusable? I feel like it goes counter to some of the themes but I am willing to overlooking it because Eri is awesome and Deku deserves to be able to use his arms since the were put in a bad state super early in his heroing life.

And finally, Handsy, Dabi and the real Compress drop in on the party. Not only do they drop in, but they are targeting the wounded villains.  Can I say that Shigaraki is really starting to look like an antagonist? Like real final boss type material. Bro, he is crouched on top of an eighteen wheeler casually talking strategy and killing kings in that cool ass coat that’s flapping in the wind. He’s got the villain flare down pat, even if Dabi is trying to correct  Handsy’s oversimplified shogi strategy. Now I am not sure if they are really going to kill Overhaul and his injured lackies or capture them, I’m leaning towards the latter just because saving them could really be beneficial to the League of Villains.

I love this headcanon???? But also consider, if his boyfriend is Kaminari, Sero’s hair is always super staticky once he’s stopped petting it. Like, his hair just sticks in every direction, it looks super funny. Or, his boyfriend is Bakugou (or his girlfriend is Mina! same scenario plays out) and Sero has to wash his hair after Bakugou/Mina is done because their hands are dangerous and having flammable hair isn’t much fun, Neither is having acid very slowly corroding his scalp Poor boy, three out of four of my fav partners for him are dangerous for his hair haha

You’re not the only one!! That’s one of my favorite things out of bnha and also one of the reasons why I’m such a fan of the adults of the series - not all of them, but most of the guardians have a great grasp on what they should expect out of kids and what they can ask of them and what they should instead keep them away from, which I appreciate a lot. And some of them (Aizawa, Toshinori from some point on, Bakugou’s parents, Fatgum to say some) have a great understanding of the kids they’re responsible for and make decisions based on what’s right while at the same time accomodating the kids’ aspirations and dreams, which is super amazing because it doesn’t negate the fact that even if they’re just kids they’re still people, you know? They talk to them and understand them and act as guardians without clipping their wings, you never see this sort of things in media tbh so I appreciate it a lot

Well, I was about to say that maybe even if Izuku hadn’t been the last one Aizawa would have let the last one stay anyway since 1A is a pretty impressive class, but the 19th place was Mineta that time so honestly who knows. Maybe we were one step away from not having Mineta in the class and Izuku ruined it for us. Who knows. (lol)

BnHA Chapter 233: At Least He Has Some Spares

Previously on BnHA: Twice made a duplicate League of Villains to take on Re-Destro. Re-Destro took this in stride and very calmly inflated his left fucking arm and slapped the whole lot of them so hard that most of them literally died. But the clone Shigaraki survived somehow and scuffled with RD for a bit while RD told him the story of how his great-great-granddad was born with a quirk and his mom was like “please be kind to my baby” and society was like “nah” and then they killed her too just for good measure. Anyway so this was of course the original Destro’s Origin Story, and his mother later on became a kind of martyr figure once society began rethinking their whole outlook on the whole superpower thing, and they even borrowed the term “quirk” from her as a way of trying to honor her I guess. But Destro and his descendants weren’t happy with the fact that quirks are still regulated and ~suppressed~ and blah blah blah, so I guess in RD’s mind this gives him justification to be a massive dick and wantonly murder people left and right. It’s all very political and complicated. Anyway, so in the end the Actual Tomura came over to RD’s tower and used his quirk and the tower came crumbling down, and now Tomura and Re-Destro are gonna fight.

Today on BnHA: We jump around Deika City getting updates on the rest of the League. Twice is currently trying to save Toga while Skeptic sneaks up on them both. Spinner is duking it out with Hanabata and his squad of Dudes With Spikes All Over Them And Stuff. We learn that Spinner’s quirk really is just “Lizard Quirk. That’s It. That’s The Quirk”, which, fine, whatever then. Dabi and Blue Bunny and Compress are off somewhere, presumably. Slidin’ Go is directing traffic and about to be flattened by Gigantomachia (or so we can hope). Giran is running off with one of the clone Twices (“running off” as in to safety, as opposed to them getting married or something. although). And Tomura is having his hand ripped off by a Hulkified Re-Destro and his newly revealed Stress quirk! Just, plucked right the fuck off, like a flower petal. It’s pretty horrific! And meanwhile Horikoshi is dipping out to go take an honestly well-deserved vacation, so there won’t be a new chapter next week. So basically just good news all around. Anyhow, so Tomura seems to have his hands full here and it may be time for him to hand in the towel and hand things off to Machia before things get out of hand even more well anyways enjoy the chapter guys.

so once again I got an Intriguing Anonymous Ask, but I only skimmed it because it seemed to delve into some of the details of the chapter, albeit in a very vague way that probably didn’t actually reveal anything. but one thing I did pick up on was that there may possibly be a break after this week’s chapter? if so I will cry but then I’ll get over it I GUESS

quick observation before I actually start reading the chapter itself -- so apparently the title is “Bright Future”? correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought we already had a chapter with that same title though. chapter 161, also known as the Nighteye Fucking Dies chapter. is the kanji slightly different or something, perhaps? if not that is odd

(ETA: so after reading the chapter, serious question: is this Horikoshi’s idea of a joke, or. ...

but yeah, the kanji is different. or rather, this chapter’s title isn’t written in kanji at all, but in katakana, whereas 161 was written in kanji like normal. as for the why of it, though, your guess is as good as mine. right now “mangaka has a fucked-up sense of humor” is basically at the top of my reasons list.)

anyways, clicking to the actual chapter now, and... oh wow

okay I think I mentioned the movie The Island a few recaps back, and my sincere apologies to everyone for making repeated references to a typically dumb and explosion-y Michael Bay movie where Ewan McGregor tries and fails to speak in an American accent and everything explodes for no reason and the protagonists cause so much collateral damage while being hunted down by the bad guys that you almost start to wonder if it wouldn’t actually be better for everyone if they did just die. but anyway, so I’m sorry to keep coming back to this movie, but -- and spoiler alert for a 14-year-old Michael Bay film you guys -- the plot is basically that scientists figured out how to clone people, and so Rich People immediately proceeded to make clones of themselves to keep for spare parts so that if they ever needed organ donors or the like, they’d have a perfect match available

and anyway, so you can see the connection here, right? basically this is a super-pragmatic application of Twice’s quirk, and I have to applaud the logic and ingenuity, but also bro that’s kind of a fucked-up thing to do though, sob. let’s just make a spare Toga so we can immediately harvest her blood, oh boy. though in fairness it is Toga, so maybe she won’t mind since Harvesting Blood is like her thing

also can we take a moment to appreciate how thoroughly wrecked this Skeptic!Puppet!Twice is, though. the one that’s just lying there dead. like, his leg’s all bent the wrong way and he no longer has a face and I fucking can’t stop staring at it though. I’m starting to get an inkling that this will be the kind of fight that’s going to look amazing in anime form, but will basically just be a lot of flying rocks and smashing panels in manga form. and I’m prepared for that if that is indeed the case! I have not forgotten what genre this actually is, and that this is still a manga where the main character’s attacks all end in “SMASH!!!”, and every so often we get to a point where the characters who are at the center of the current conflict just have to punch it out. so I’m not going to complain

but I do hope that won’t be all there is to this, though. and ngl, I have higher expectations for BnHA’s fights than for any other manga’s fights, and I’m still expecting a few twists here

That’s. Hm. I happen to really like that woman and my drawings depict her in a positive light always, so if people could stop that it would be very nice? That’s about it tho~

Ah, I’m sure in the future Bakugou and Izuku will be on civil terms, but here’s the thing anon. Deku was a name with a negative connotation given to Izuku the degrade him - someone Izuku holds dear changed the meaning for him, made it something positive, and Izuku took the name back and made it his own, like a phoenix reborn from its ashes. It was a positive thing because it used to be a negative one, you follow me? It also didn’t have anything to do with Bakugou. Izuku took that name away from him, he didn’t accept Deku as a name to show some sort of positive change in his relationship with Bakugou, it was more about him cutting Bakugou of a source of power he had over him. It was distancing himself from Bakugou, not growing closer

Kacchan doesn’t have anything like that tied to it, it’s just a childish name Izuku has been using since he was four, most probably because everyone used to call Bakugou that - Bakugou doesn’t actually care for the name, or else he would have found a way to make Izuku stop using it. He doesn’t like it, but he doesn’t actively dislike it either, he just does not care, right? So there’s no way him accepting it as the way the whole world knows him as would be some sort of positive change for him, imho

What I meant when I said that I really hope it doesn’t happen is that all it would be for Bakugou is just yet another smack on the growing list of things gone wrong for him - there’s no way Bakugou would willingly accept such a childish name as his hero name just for the hell of it, one thing is growing up and a whole other thing is him making a 180° on his personality like that. So, like, I really don’t want it to happen because I want Bakugou for once to have things go as he wishes, but considering the amount of times the narrative has punished Bakugou and how often his plans have gone on the opposite direction compared to what he was working for, would I be surprised if that choice too were to be taken from him? Absolutely not

As for Todoroki, as I said I have never spent time thinking about his hero name? I kind of assumed he actually wanted to be known as Shouto, but you really never know with him! His character is always going in directions I don’t expect one bit, so his hero name too, if it comes, is probably gonna be something I hadn’t seen coming at all haha
