Hm, watching the Hero short again I definitely see what you mean about his violence being scary, but I dunno about explosive. He seemed pretty controlled to me, like it was definitely anger that was driving him but he wasn't just lashing out it was very calculated and you couldn't even tell he was angry until he started talking. And in the comics he seems really level headed, even in situations where a lot of people would be pissed (like how Ana was pissed at Gabe in Uprising but Jack was calm).
If Gabe is cold in his anger I think Jack is probably more of a slow burn. From what we’ve seen, as a commander he was cool under pressure and as 76 he got more violent the more he got worked up (he only bashed one dude’s head in, the earlier ones were taken out efficiently). So I’d guess it probably normally takes a while to actually get him to show he’s mad, but once he’s there he can be vicious. I’d also guess that it’s probably easier to anger him as 76 but I have nothing to back that up lol
Alright, so i rewatched the short, and you’re right that I made him sound a lot more violent and angry then he actually is.
Still. When he gets physical, he’s just. Really brutal. He smashed a dude’s head against a wall (and honestly the only reason it wasn’t smashed open imo was because they dont do graphic violence) and he used the fuck out of fear tactics to terrorize these gang members. And even though I know Gabriel is just as capable to pull that shit and probably as, the fact that I haven’t seen him to do it just makes it so Soldier 76 is higher up in terms of anger and brutality than Reaper. Not to mention, you can actually literally hear him growling, and that isn’t just because his voice is pure gravel. (there is a reason i mentioned that in the other ask in conjunction with Reaper.)
As for the rest of everything you mentioned, I should mention this first. I actually differentiate between Jack and Soldier 76, as well as Reaper and Gabriel Reyes. They’ve changed and gone through enough that in my mind, they aren’t exactly the same people in my mind. So I do not use their names interchangeably in any post tbh, not unless im tired and it doesn’t really matter in that case.
So! In my opinion, Jack is exactly as you described; level-headed and slow to anger. In the Uprising and Retribution comics, no matter what stress he’s been under and what has happened, he doesn’t really get angry. Actually, he mostly seems tired and sad, which is heart-wrenching ngl.
(And once again, I am brought back to the meta that floated around during the event that compared the voices between Jack and Gabriel. Because during the event, Jack seemed… harsher and more urgent in his orders, whereas Gabriel seemed calm and collected, confident even. Which sort of kind of makes you question, what actually is Jack’s temperament? Tbh, at this point, I just kind of assume that that’s just his Commander voice. Oh! Or maybe, because there’s also meta that, since Ana wouldn’t have her biotic rifle and Jack has a biotic healing field, that Jack was the field medic for the original Strike Team and would have been the rallying point for everyone (the team’s Heart lol), and maybe he developed that voice in order to communicate with the other members of the team. )
But Soldier 76 is… different. He’s harsher. More aggressive. Still really fucking tired though. And I don’t think we can consider his current interactions with Reaper and Ana in the comics as necessarily representative for his current temperament because imo he carries a lot of regrets and guilt over them, so ofc he’s not going to be angry or necessarily brutal/vicious with them.
Mostly, I see Soldier 76 as holding a lot of emotions within him. Anger, guilt, sadness, hurt, hate, love, fear, regret, desperation… it’s all roiling beneath his skin, pushing at it, wanting to be let out, and sometimes… sometimes he indulges (e.g. him beating up that gang member with a pinata). So, where I see Reaper as being cold anger waiting to unleash retribution (heh) upon Talon and the scum that brought down Overwatch, Soldier 76 is the flip side of that, searching for answers and ready to bulldoze through anything to find what he’s looking for.
(And… there really is such a huge difference between Jack and Soldier 76? Like!!! Literally, while bashing that one dude with a pinata, he’s yelling “you don’t own these streets!” And then!!! There’s that moment where he actually hesitates between chasing down the gang members and protecting Alejandra.
That moment is always so huge for me, that he hesitates. And I’m always left wondering why did he? What was going through his head? What tipped the scales towards the other end?
And tbh, I always think that his natural choice would be saving Alejandra, but something happened to him that would make him actually consider prioritizing his mission over saving a life. What happened to you, Jack?)

How would Reaper, Hanzo, McMcree, and Zen react to their s/o giving them a silly nickname? I keep calling my mains McReap, McHanzo, McZen, and McMcree just sounds funny.
Reaper:
One day you had stared at him, lost in thought
The two of you were going over some paper work together
Reaper could see you watching out of the corner of his eyes
You didn’t say anything, but your eyes looked distant
Finally giving in, Reaper put down his papers
“What are you thinking about that means you can’t work at the same time?” Reaper growls, trying to sound like an ass
But you know he’s just worried, so you just wave it off .
“Nothing in particular,” you murmured. “I was just thinking…you gave me a nick name, which is kind of an odd thing for a man as grumpy as you to do.”
“So…I want to give you a nick name too,” you said, smiling brightly.
For a moment Reaper could only watch you in disbelief.
“…That’s what you were thinking of.”
“Yup,” you said cheerfully. “It might not seem important but it really is! It shows how close we are together.”
Rolling his eyes, Reaper growled in a husky voice, “Do you know what else shows how close we are together? Getting hot and-”
“Nicknames,” you said seriously, giving him a look. “We’re talking nicknames, not sex.”
“How about Grumpy? Like one of the seven dwarves from snow white?”
Reaper snorted, wondering why the idea of a nickname amused you so much, when sex was much more pleasant and was nicer on the tongue.
“Or…oh! Ree-ree!” you said happily
Your mood perked up further when Reaper turned a glare on you.
“Ree-ree it is,” you giggled, pleased by his reaction. And you went through with it, calling him ree-ree whenever you could.
Hanzo:
Was not overly thrilled the morning you decided you wanted to give him a nickname
Hanzo didn’t see what was wrong with just saying his name as it was
It was short, simple Why on earth was it necessary for him to have a nickname?
You insisted though and pouted
Hanzo…grumbled but caved
You literally took all day deciding
He’d find you studying him on the way to the mission and back
Finding you watch during training exercises or meditation
For gods sake, it was almost nightfall and he was dreading the moment where you would first call him your chosen nickname
Finally you walked over and sat beside him
“So what have you decided?” Hanzo asked wearily, eyeing you curiously. What could you have possibly chosen?
Smiling wide, you hugged his arm. “Sugar-noodle. It sounds more like a pet name, which it probably is, but it’ll be my new name for you,” you said contentedly.
Sugar noodle…of course you couldn’t think of anything that didn’t involve food, he thought with a sigh
“Why…sugar noodle?” Hanzo asked finally.
“Because your sweet as sugar, when you want to be,” you explained immediately. “And you have two lil noodles, which makes you the big noodle.” You pointed at his arm for emphasis.
“They are dragons-,” Hanzo started to say.
“I can call you sugar daddy instead if you want,” you said playfully.
Silence fell as his cheeks slowly started to grow a dark pink. It delighted you to see there really was no shame to his kink.
“Sugar Noodle will do.”
McCree:
It was a lot easier
You’ve had a nickname for him the moment since you met him
Not once have you mentioned it to him
But you call him this nick name to others without him knowing
The way he finds out is a little funny
One day your polishing the guns in the weapons room, and he literally bursts through the door
Jesse’s face looks like a mix between stormy and worried
“Who the fuck is Mickey?” he demands, crossing his arms
For a moment you could only stare at the cowboy dumbfounded. The two of you have dated for almost a year and he hadn’t found out your nickname for him
The funny part though was the jealousy thick in his voice
“Answer me, damn it!” Jesse said, voice thick. He couldn’t think of you as a cheater, though hearing Angela talk about you loving your cowboy ‘Mickey’ had sent into a jealous rage
What stunned him was when you started to laugh.
“Oh, Jesse, baby. Your Mickey,” you laugh, rubbing at your eyes. This was the first time you’d ever seen your cowboy so utterly jealous, only for it to be of himself.
McCree blinked after a moment. “….What.”
“I, uh, I like calling you Mickey. Its a nickname I gave you when we met,” you said, smiling at him. Jesse was adorable when he was jealous. And confused. “I figured someone would have mentioned it to you by now.”
Jesse eyes you, unsure what to think. “….So I’m Mickey the cowboy,” Jesse said, his worry kind of silly now that the pieces clicked.
“Yes. Your Mickey. And a cowboy. So…I guess that makes you Mickey the cowboy,” you said, patting his cheek and stealing a quick kiss.
After a moment, Jesse sat and groaned, and you couldn’t help giggling at his reaction.
Zenyatta:
Zenyatta is completely precious
One day D.va is talking about one of the other members and when she mentions the nickname, Zenyatta gets confused
So D.va tells him what nicknames are and that they are given by people who really care about them
Immediately Zenyatta is curious
Finding you in your work space, Zenyatta waits, hovering with little Checkers the cat in his arms
The cat played with the omnic’s fingers and purred under the constant pets
You glance up and smile at your cute omnic boyfriend, who’s recently taken to wearing shirts picked out by Tracer. Today it was ‘I’m sexy and I Own It’, in a bright yellow.
“Whats up, sweetheart?” you asked, picking up a wrench and working on the next from bolts. You were often helping Torbjorn with his works or helping fix things around base.
Zenyatta waited a moment as you tightened the bolt. “Do I have a nickname?” he asks curiously.
You blink in surprise, wiping the grease from your fingers on a dirty rag.
“A nickname?” you asked, a smile tugging at your lips.
“Yes. D.Va says nicknames are given by people to those they care about very much,” Zenyatta asked, voice wavering slightly.
As if he doubted…
Eyes softening, you reached over and took one of his hands. “Of course I have a nickname for you. I like to call you Zen or Zenny. I like Zenny best though, because it makes me think of the word sunny, and that’s how you make me feel whenever i’m with you,” you said gently.
It took a moment, but you heard what sounded like a few gears grinding too fast in his chest. You always found it cute, because you compared it to your equivalent of a racing heart beat.
“I like Zenny too,” Zenyatta said shyly.
He was so damn happy.

Dva/bridgette, "Built" (cuz my girl lindholm is built as fuck amiright)
last but not least of that inbox game, because I couldn’t just write a summary for this. I’ve never even considered this ship, but I am delighted.
-
“Built”Dva/Brigitte
Hana Song lay slumped across the hoodof her mech, defeated.  What was it that had finally felled thisintrepid hero, so much beloved by the South Korean people and theworld of online gaming?  A hoard of omnics, overwhelming in numbers? A final battle, glorious in its ultimate failure?  A moment ofreckless bravery that for once she wasn’t clever and lucky enough tosurvive?
That, at least, might have been moredignified.
Currently, Hana Song was laid low bya technical difficulties.
She had only been with Overwatch afew months so far, and it was both everything she could have dreamedand nothing she had expected.  They were doing so much work. Hana valued what she contributed to the front lines of the Crisis,of course, she was here first and foremost to defend her people, but… sometimes when you were getting up every morning and beingdeployed again and again before a persistent press of omnics, youbegan to feel like you weren’t making any headway.  A constant grindwith no objective in sight.  Overwatch was different.  Overwatchwasn’t just playing the game, it was rewriting the rules.  It wasexciting.  It wasfull-tilt, life-or-death, world-hanging-in-the-balance sort of work, and Hana was thriving.
Hermech, unfortunately, was not.
Because this wasn’t Overwatch of thegolden days, this wasn’t like the heroes her dad had told her storiesof as a girl.  They had no funds, no support, no legitimacy.  Winston(an actual, talking gorilla, how cool!)was sending out hooks all over the world and they were getting bites– people were slowly, covertly, trickling in, but it meant that thegreat workshops of the Gibraltar Watchpoint were almost entirelyempty.  One corner, near the massive bay doors, now housed her andher mech.  Over these months, she had been alone in her efforts torepair the damages as they appeared; she fixed what she could andignored the rest.  But now that one of the mech’s arms had gone dead(in the middle of a fight too, with everyone watching!  Uh, she musthave looked like such an amateur) she couldn’t really look the otherway anymore.  Something needed to be done, and she couldn’t figureout what it was.
In anothersection of the room, Lucio had a table that was covered in wires andtubes – for maintaining his skates and amp.  He smugly told her allabout how he’d pilfered and repurposed the tech from some companycalled Vishkar, and he at least seemed to know what he was doing. More so than her at any rate, though even he had been rather helplesswhen she’d brought her mech problems to him.
Then there wasthat weaselly guy, Junkrat.  Hana wasn’t sure how she felt about him. He could be pretty funny, but she also couldn’t shake the feelingthat if push came to shove he wouldn’t hesitate to render her asmoldering crater.  He was given a space the furthest away fromeveryone else and very explicit orders from Winston about conduct. Because Junkrat?  He worked with explosives.  Hana didn’t know muchabout explosives beyond the “stick in mech, fire at omnic” sideof things, but she couldn’t help but feel that someone so… twitchyshouldn’t be messing with them.  She knew for a fact that he wassomeone who shouldn’t be messing with her mech.
And then therewas that short, grouchy guy, Torbjörn.  His portion of the workshopwith filled with a massive forge and huge work tables – he was theonly one who really seemed to know what he was doing in here, theonly one not self-taught or learning on the fly.  He had a tendencyto mutter when he caught anyone else trying to work in the shop, asif they were all just little kids trying to play with lego in hisworkspace.  Rude.
Though, Hanathought, rather moodily as she kicked her feet accusingly against thehull of her mech, she did feel a bit like that right now, like a kidpretending to know what she was doing.  She was a soldier though, nota mechanic!
The fact of thematter was simple and unavoidable: the mechs weren’t made for thesort of sustained abuse.  Normally, with MEKA, they hadmicro-rotations.  They’d be deployed, hit hard, and as soon as thebattle was finished or relief was deployed, the previous pilotsreturned so that the mechs could be serviced, strengthened, andreadied for the next deployment.  After a certain number ofrotations, the entire mech would be replaced with a new one.  Themechs were made to take damage, but they were still complicated, delicate machines and for that sort of tank role to be maintained, the mech must be as well.
Sowhat options did that leave her?  She was, technically,on loan to Overwatch.  Sort of.  It was very hush hush, under thetable.  Overwatch wasn’t supposed to be operating at all, but someonein the South Korean government (or military, or something) must havedecided that if the omnic-crushing force of old was looking toreassert itself, it would help to have Overwatch as friends.  Hanawas very aware this was conditional though.  If it looked like thingswere going to go bad with Overwatch, or if it became too complicatedor too inconvenient, all association would be denied and she wouldget pulled… and that had quickly become an unacceptable outcome. She needed to be here. So she really didn’t want to ruffle feathers with HQ by requestingher mech be taken halfway across the world for servicing.  So thatleft figuring it out herself, or capitulating and asking Torbjörn. He got a funny look in his eye when he stared at her mech though, andso far she had avoided letting him feel it up.
It might be acase of the lesser of two evils though, she had to admit.
She was savedfrom needing to confront this sad reality by the sound of theworkshop doors sliding open.  Without looking up, she called out“That you, Lucio?  Please tell me you had an epiphany because Idon’t know what to do.”
“Uh, sorry todisappoint, but I’m not Lucio,” said a clearly strained voice, itsaccent one that sounded familiar but which Hana couldn’t quite place. Given that this was a secretive paramilitary base on a mountain thata bare handful of people had access to, this was alarming.
It was with thisshock that Hana jerked up and swung herself around, peering down fromher mech to stare at this strange newcomer.  It didn’t actually tellher much, because the person was almost completely hidden behind atowering stack of strangely shaped hunks of metal.
“Who are you?”demanded Hana, before she could think better of it.
“Brigitte,”said the person as she staggered across the room.  “BrigitteLindholm.”  It was strange, there was something asalmost-but-not-quite familiar about her name as about her accent.
Brigitte wasstill talking though, “Is Reinhardt in here?”
“Who?”
“Ofcourse he isn’t,” she grumbled.  “He saidhe’d bring the rest of the armour in here so I could get set up andstart repairs but no,of course not.  Uh, knowing him he’s found some old friend.  I washoping to avoid that until we got set up, or else I’m never going topry him away.  You have no idea how much that man can talk.”
Hana slipped downfrom the hull of her mech and landed heavily on the ground.  “Who’sReinhardt?  Are you new members?  Do you need any help with that?”
Brigitteseemed to take the barrage of questions in stride.  “Massivebonehead,” she said.  “Also just massive, trust me, you can’tmiss him.  And, uh, yeah, kind of new memebers, I guess?  Lena justdropped us off like twenty minutes ago.  I mean, technicallyReinhardt used to be a member before and he’s coming back – again, because he’s a bonehead – andso I guess I’m here too.  Dad’s going to throw a fitbut I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it.  And oh god, yesplease.”
Hanawas already reaching for whatever was in this new woman’s arms and sodidn’t register the following warning: “Be careful, this stuff ispretty heavy–” until she’d tried to heft one of the pieces, wascompletely thrown off by exactly howheavy it was, and promptly dropped it on her toe.
It was a goodthing she was the only one who spoke Korean on the base; her tonguehadn’t exactly been squeaky clean as a professional gamer but joiningthe army had not helped matters and there was nothing like anunspeakably number of kilograms of metal falling on your foot toencourage one to show off that sort of vocabulary.
“Sorry,” saidBrigitte, “let me just…”
With a deafeningclattering, the rest of the woman’s load was dumped onto the nearestwork table, and Hana got her first real look at Brigitte Lindholm. She promptly forgot about the pain in her foot.
Ittook her a moment to remember to close her mouth because wow…which had pretty much been the first thought in her head.
Thesecond thought had been: arms. Because Brigitte definitely had those.  Two of them.  Two very, very, very musclyarms. Yes sir.
Hana doublechecked to make sure her mouth was closed.
Brigitte was alsogetting her first look at the room.
“Wow,I’ve heard stories of this place but it’s really nothing likeactually being in here, you know?  Seriously, there is so muchroom… nothing likethe Ironclad Guild, but considering I’ve been working out of a truckfor the past few years this is like – whoa!  Whoseis that?”
At first Hanaassumed she must have caught sight of Lucio’s gently thrumming amp, which was partially disemboweled and casting beats of yellow andgreen light across the ceiling, or the terrifying toxic waste dumpthat was Junkrat’s corner, so she felt herself swelling with pridewhen she realized Brigitte’s gaze was hard-locked on her mech.
“Mine,” shesaid, as if it was no big deal, what girl doesn’t have a spare, million dollar, top-of-the-line battle mech sitting around.  “I’mHana.  Hana Song?  Top pilot in MEKA?”
“Ohmy god, I’ve never seen one up close before,” said Brigitte, alittle breathlessly.  “These are amazing. Like a mix between power armour and proper battle ship – you’vegot the protective hull of an armoured assault vehicle, but way moremobile than anything imaginable in that class… it’s even got theCrusader beat on that front.  It’s almost as versatile as powerarmour, but it’s not going to crumple like paper towel if it getscaught in a firefight.  These are brilliant. And adapting them to be piloted by people – MEKA is seriouslyworking on a different level with these.”  She rounded on Hana, hereyes gleaming with fascination and admiration; Hana beamed rightback.  “And you actually pilot it?  It must be unbelievablydifficult… it was originally designed to be run as a drone afterall, the sheer number of functions for one human to keep on topof…”
Hanashrugged with as much modesty as she could muster.  “I was thenumber one StarCraft player for three years in a row.  That’s whythey went for gamers, you know?  Better response times, multitasking,on the fly strategizing, working in teams and solo…  It was apretty natural transition, when you’ve got a knack for it,” shesaid, leaning against one of the mech’s pink legs.  This would lookmuch more impressive if she was actually wearing her flightsuitrather than the grease-covered work jeans and a baggy old sweatshirtthat used to be her father’s, with a faded picture of a droolingmurloc printed on it.
Thenagain, Brigitte was wearing what looked like steel-toed boots and ashirt with the sleeves (gloriously, gloriously)torn off so maybe Hana could pass this off as an aesthetic and notjust grubby laziness.  She wouldn’t know unless she tried, right?  Sowith the same sort of confident bravado that Hana faced most of theproblems in her life, she jumped in feet first and hoped for a goodlanding.
“You,uh… you want me to show you around?”
“Absolutely!”
Hanacould have crowed with delight.  Nailed it. Of course, the next problem was that this was a compact,single-person mech and there was only so much “showing around”that you could do, but Hana would happily use it to stall for timeand she thought out her next smooth step.  Besides, she loved talkingabout her baby.  With practiced ease, Hana used one of the mech’sarms to swing underself up onto first it’s crouched leg, and then soshe was perched in the crook of its elbow.  Brigitte followed suit, and Hana tried to resist watching the swell of her biceps as her feetsearched for purchase on the mech so she could haul herself up.
Andso Hana talked Brigitte through the ins and outs of the battle mech. Brigitte peered in at the complex array of controls inside thecockpit, listened in rapt fascination as Hana described its featuresand the battles she’s seen with it.
Soonit became much less about impressing a really gorgeous woman, andmore just… talking.  Brigitte was really, really nice.  She laughedeasily, and had a sharp, snide sense of humour, and kept up with Hanaeffortlessly as she got into the more interesting minutia of themech’s features.  Oh, lots of people were interested in here theexploits of Hana Song, South Korean MEKA defender, and they would oohand aah at all theright parts when she told stories about being flung into the ocean bya towering, twenty foot brute of an omnic, or when she had had notchoice but to self-destruct her own mech, barely escaping that onewith her life, but she had never had someone stop her mid-tale to askabout the actual model variants of said omnic or what expulsionmechanism the mech used that managed to get her clear of such ablast.  It wasn’t even annoying to be interrupted – it wasexciting.  Likesomeone was taking the time not to speed run the conversation but topoke around and unlock all the secrets along the way.  Or something.
Completelyoblivious to the emotions banging around in Hana’s head, Brigittepeered at the newly upgraded missile system Hana had been pointingout and said, “I knew I was behind on the latest and greatest, since I was following the big guy around the boonies for the past fewyears boonies, but how did I miss this? MEKA must have gotten a new energy core if they managed to pullsomething like this off!  Keeping this thing mobile, flight-capable,and defensive was already pretty much clocking their core as much asyou could safely expect… how the heck they did keep all that up andadd a missile system?  I mean, you can’t just go make the core biggerwith a living pilot in there, that’d be getting way to chancy.”
Hana rolled hereyes.  She’d commented about the mech’s wimpy power core before, senther complaints as far up the chain as she could manage, only to get areply back telling her to stop being a fool-hardy daredevil thatwanted to throw her life away and to smarten up… or, well, theprofessional, military equivalent.  It seemed to her the only way abigger power core would really be that much of a compromise was ifyou were letting omnics blow you up, and Hana had not intention ofletting omnics blow her up, thanks, so really it was a non-issue. High risk, high reward.  But whatever.
“Nope, sameold, same old,” she told Brigitte.  “It was more of a remodeling. I’m the first to test it out.  We diverted some of the power thatwould have otherwise been used by the defense matrix and fed it tothe missile systems.”
Brigitte’seyebrows went up.  “What?  You’re compromising defense for this? But the defense matrix is one of the things that actually makes amech remotely viable against heavy projectile damage, otherwiseyou’re just a big,” she gestured vaguely to the mech, “pinktarget waiting to blow!”
“Pssh,no.  We’re supposedto be mobile, that’s the whole point!  We’re not there to shield,we’re there to hit hard and fast and get out before too much damageis laid down!  The defense matrix just makes us sitting ducks –with the missiles we can actually attack from a distance beforeneeding to get up close.  Waybetter strategy, trust me.”
Brigitte hummed, but seemed to be considering it.
“Any chance Icould see a test run?” asked Brigitte.  “I’ve only ever seenvideo.  I’d love to see it in person.”
“Absolutely!”said Hana, without hesitation.  How was she supposed to say no tohaving the admiring gaze of a cute girl on her while she did what shedid best?
And then came thecrushing recollection of why she was here in the shop in the firstplace.  The arms, while not as crucial for movement as the thrustersystem, still acted a little like rudders; they were directionconnected to the yokes which controlled all movement.
…Still, it didmean flying the mech would still be doable, even with one arm down. A little clunky, maybe, but she’d managed to get herself through thatlast battle with it down, right?  And it’s not like there would evenbe Talon agents trying to shoot her down this time.  It would befine.  Completely fine and totally work it.
She hesitatedagain.  Common sense was screaming at her to listen for five seconds.
Because on theother hand, she couldn’t help but suspect that an genuine, bona-fidemechanic might not think it was brave or daring or romantic to getinto a damaged craft and push it even harder rather than runningmaintenance.
Damn her and herbad luck.  She was going to have to say “no sorry, I broke thesuper cool mech and am grounded” and watch this amazing woman say“oh no problem” and then remember she had her own work and leaveand never get another chance to talk to her.
Better thannever getting another chance to talk to her because you fly yourselfoff the cliff face and burn to deaths on the rocks below, hermind rebuked, in a voice that sounded frustratingly like her father.
“Actually, Ican’t,” Hana admitted bitterly.  “I’m having some issues with oneof the arms.  Kinda goes past my expertise.  I’m probably going toneed to contact MEKA and see about getting it replaced or something.”
“Well you’realready doing better than Reinhardt on that front,” said Brigittedryly, with a nod towards the pile of metal she’d hauled in.  “Youhave no idea how long I’ve been hounding on him to take a break andget some actual replacement parts for that scrap metal he keepsinsisting on strapping himself into.  But it you like, I could take alook at the mech with you?  Maybe we can figure out what’s wrongtogether.  No idea when Reinhardt’s going to actually show up and Ican’t work until I’ve got the rest of the armour, so I’ve got time. We could make an afternoon of it, get to know each other a littlebetter.  And give me an excuse to dig into some really awesome tech,”she said cheerfully.
Hana couldn’tactually believe her luck.  This was too much.  “You know how oneof these is built?” she asked.
Brigitteshrugged.  “Not really, no.  Not besides for the basic schematicsthat anyone can access with a bit of digging.  But I didn’t know howthe Crusader worked either besides for some of Dad’s stories, and most  of those were just complaining about how Reinhardt treated itand which bits he’d needed to bang out today.  I’m pretty good withthis sort of stuff.  Let me poke around a bit, and I’ll bet I canfigure out what’s wrong and how we can get you mobile again.  …Um,you okay?”
Hana wasn’t eventrying to hide her staring.  What were the odds – she was lamentingabout needing to contact MEKA and risk losing everything over thisstupid mech, and here comes with woman with her pretty eyes andpretty hair and pretty arms and pretty impressive knowledge ofhigh-tech combat systems offering to fix all her problems.
“I couldkiss you,” said Hana, words shooting cheerfully past her mentalfilter and straight to her mouth.
Brigitte laughed, but Hana still hadn’t decided if she was joking or not when theworkshop door opened and a voice boomed.
“Brigitte! There you are!”
Brigitte roundedon the speaker, hands on her hips.  “You mean right where I’msupposed to be?  Yeah!  Where were you?”
This had to beReinhardt.  When Brigitte had said massive, she’d been understatingit.  The man had to be nearly as tall as her mech, with a shaggywhite beard and huge, blinding grin.  Tucked under his arm like itwas a jacket on a warm day, was more of the insanely heavy armourBrigitte had been lugging when she first got here.
As Reinhardtmoved further into the room, Hana caught sight of who was with him –oh joy, Torbjörn.
“Brigitte!”he called.
Brigitte eyesimmediately locked on him, and the stern face she’d been directly atReinhardt immediately melted.  “Papa!” she called, and racedover.
Papa?
Hanawatched with a sort of mute horror as Brigitte wrapped her father –her father – up in ahug and pressed her face to his shoulder, clearly ecstatic to see herfamily – her family– again.  Torbjörn was patting her back warmly, and theconversation quickly switched to a low, warm Swedish.
That would explain why the accent had been so familiar, just said in a different voice. That would explain why the name was so familiar, though she’d only heard Torbjörn’s surname the one time, when they’d first been introduced.
Atsome point during this, Reinhardt had ended up closer to Hana, givingthe other two space.  He introduced himself, and offered Hana amassive hand to shake; his grip was bone-crushing, but Hana was stillto shocked by all the revelations she had been hit with in the pasthalf an hour to care.
“Theyhave a big family,” he told her companionably.  “They would neveradmit it, but I think both have been missing it.  Very protectiveover each other.”  He chuckled a deep, rumbling chuckle.  “It’s agood thing I brought her back in one piece, I’d hate to think whatTorby would do if I hadn’t.”
Hanamade a vague noise of acknowledgement.
Brigitteand Torbjörn were no longer hugging, and by the tone it sounded likethings had descended into some sort of disagreement over something. Hana choice to take that moment to make herself scarce.  If Brigittewas sticking around, she could always find her later for engineeringhelp.
-
Hana Song layslumped across the length of Lucio’s bed, defeated.
“Were you…flirting vicariously through your mech?” said Lucio from where hewas perched on the edge of his desk, amusedly watching the unexpectedguest who had thrown herself into his room half an hour ago.
“You’re reallynot focusing on the important part of this story,” Hana told thebedsheets.
“Right.  She’sapparently Torbjörn’s kid.  Which is… bad?”
“Yesit’s bad!  It’s sobad!  Can you imagine needing to go up to Torbjörnand saying ‘Hi, your daughter’s arms are builtand I would love for her to cradle me sensually in them’?  Huh?  No! I’m doomed!”
“Uh,yeah, no, I would really not recommend that being your opener forlike… anything, ever.  Especially if you want to actually get adate with her first.”
Hanagroaned pitifully into the mattress.
Hoppingdown from the table, Lucio gave Hana’s shoulders a sympathetic pat.
“Justdon’t think about how awkward breakfast is going to be tomorrow, whenyou’re sitting across from him and trying not to project how into hisdaughter you are,” he said cheerfully.
Agroan.  Hana Song was doomed.

The Other Side Looks The Goddamn Same - Chapter Thirteen
“...So...” Gerard shifts slightly on the sofa. “...How’ve you been?”
Gabriel doesn’t even look up at him from his spot on the floor, arms wrapped around his knees. “...Two of my closest friends have come back from the dead, and I’m still trying to put together pieces of my past that are missing. How do you think I’m doing?”
“Right. I...should have guessed.” He tugs at the edge of his scarf, before he sighs. “...Reyes.”
He looks up.
“...You wanted to know what happened, yes?”
“Yeah.” He uncurls slightly.
“When...” He runs a hand through his hair. “When she attacked me, we were in our room. I had been sleeping, but woke when she got up. I...suppose the original plan was to kill me in my sleep.” He closes his eyes. “We...fought. I did what I could, but it’s...hard to win a fight against someone you’re unwilling to kill, when they’re willing to kill you. She stabbed me, poisoned me, then shot me in the back and left me for dead.”
“Gerard...”
“I was too far from base, so I had to rush over to a nearby hospital. Small place...Don’t remember its name.”
Gabriel leans forward. “...They helped you?”
“As much as they could.” He looks down at his hands. “By the time I got there I moved, and...suddenly I just...couldn’t. They told me that the bullet had finally worked its way through my spine.”
“But you can move now. Did they-”
“They didn’t have what Angela has.” He slowly pulls up his sleeves. “So...they did what they could.”
His eyes widen in shock. “Gerard. I...”
Several wires make their way down Gerard’s arms, connecting into a metal cuff at his wrist. A small flat segment rests at the front of his wrist, sunken into the flesh. A longer one does the same on the back of his wrist. His hand twitches and shakes as he tries to hold it steady. “Both arms, and my legs. It...was what they could think of to do.” He takes a few airy breaths. “Bypass the problem once I healed up. Spine recovered. The nerves didn’t.”
“Dios Mio...”
“The poison didn’t help matters. It was a newer version of Talon’s current airborne neurotoxin, a deadly soup of nerve agent, tranquilizers, and good old fashioned poison. I had to breathe on a machine for months. ...Still do, technically.”
“What are you talking about?” Gabriel’s not sure when he started shaking.
“Like I said before...” Gerard pulls off his scarf, dropping it to the floor before slipping off his coat. A metal tube wraps around behind his neck, moving down and connecting to two plates in his chest. On the back of the tube, under Gerard’s hair, there’s a small connection that leads down to a metal machine on his back. At the front of his throat there’s another metal plate, this one more oval, and ridged. The wires from his arms make their way up to connect into it. An identical plate on the back of his throat connects to the wires from his legs. “...They did what they could.”
“Is that...”
“A breathing machine, yes. My lungs were worn too thin in places, for me to be able to breathe too much on my own. They were worried that too sharp of a breath would just rip the muscle in two.” He slowly looks over at Gabriel. “...I...can swap it out for an air tank, when I need to, but I prefer to run with this. I’m supposed to use a mask as well, instead of just pumping it directly into my lungs, but when I’m not on the run I can manage this.” He has to take a shallow breath. “I can’t talk with the mask on.”
He slowly reaches out a hand. “...You need to speak to Angela.”
“And what can she do? My nerves are broken, and my lungs are thin. What can she do this late?”
“Muscle regeneration and regrowth are her specialty. You don’t have to, but...please consider it.”
He sighs, before he takes his hand and nods. “...Alright.” He’s quiet for a few moments.”...I was still stuck in bed when I heard the news. I saw the collapse on TV. Hearing about you...”
“Death due to injuries and smoke inhalation.”
“...And Jack.”
“...Death due to traumatic burns and a multistory fall.”
“I didn’t know what to do. I dug up more information on Talon. Snuck around wherever I went. Ran into your son, eventually, though he didn’t realize it at first. I eventually made contact with him, and we worked together for a bit. He went to the Recall soon after, and...” He sighs again. “...And that’s all I’ve got, Gabriel.”
“...Thank you, Gerard. For telling me, and...for getting me out of there.”
“No worries. You know I don’t like to leave debts hanging.” He smiles faintly, before it falls. “...You’re welcome, Reyes.”
-
Jack doesnt know what he expected to see when he walked outside, but a Bastion unit sitting in the middle of the garden, holding a potted tree, with a bird on its head, isn’t anywhere on even the strangest list he can think of.
He’s alarmed at first, of course. He remembers the Crisis vividly, after all. He’d been sure that all the units had been shut down, how had this one slipped through the cracks? Why is it here? Why doesn’t he have his gun? He can’t take on a Bastion unit with his bare hands, it’ll shred him apart before he even gets a chance to get near it, there’s no cover to try to deal with it from range-
He stumbles and falls back, scrambling backwards, but he freezes when the unit turns and ‘looks’ at him. He’s going to die. All this time, all this fighting, everything he’s done was for nothing. His fate’s catching up with him. Why did he think this wouldn’t happen, of course the universe would do this to him. Or is this all just his imagination?
He can’t see. He can’t see- he smells smoke, blood, charred wounds of the fallen- he hears shouting but it’s distant, muffled, indistinct. A sniper rifle, shotguns? A building’s falling, or- it already fell, it must have- there’s blood dripping down his face from a head wound, and he can’t move- did it catch him in the legs or the torso? He can’t remember, why can’t he remember-
It must be his imagination, the thought that he’d actually live through this. You can’t defeat that which doesn’t sleep, doesn’t rest, doesn’t need to do anything to survive. They make more faster than humans can get new soldiers, they fight harder than even the SEP could have hoped for.
He must be dying.
“Bastion!”
He knows, he knows- he can’t move. They must have had to leave him behind, he doesn’t hear her rifle. The shotguns are gone. Why can’t he hear them?
“Bastion, wait!”
Oh God, it’s going to shred his torso. He’s seen it happen, the images are burned into his eyes. There’ll be nothing of him left. Hysterical laughter falls from his lips. It’s not like there’s anyone left for them to ship him back to.
“Dammit- Commander! Can you hear me?”
Someone’s shaking him- why can’t he see? He’s gasping, why can’t he breathe?”
“Morrison!”
He recoils, as everything abruptly comes into focus. He’s shaking. Why can’t he stop shaking?
Genji’s crouched in front of him, faceplate removed. One hand rests on Jack’s shoulder, the other on Jack’s chest. “Breathe, Morrison.”
“The Bastion-” Jack wheezes, brain foggy.
“I know. They are nearby.”
“Genji-”
“They are not aggressive. They do not wish to harm.”
That’s it. Genji must have finally snapped. There’s no way that he could be saying such impossible things.
A set of beeps and chirps sound behind him.
“Bastion! Stay sitting down, please!” He looks back at the omnic. “He has had something similar to what Ganymede helps you with.”
Another set of beeps comes from the unit.
Genji turns back around. “They will not hurt you. They just like plants. Torbjorn brought them here to keep them safe.”
“...Torb? He...” His head hurts. Why does he feel so sick?
“Yes. Here, Commander, may I pick you up? You need to recover from your attack.”
“I...Sure.” He winces as he’s picked up, zoning out as they move. He closes his eyes.
He’d thought of Reyes. He thought he was dying, and his first thought was of Reyes. Of course. God, he needs to let go, for his own sanity. He can’t, and he knows he can’t, but he knows he should.
He finally zones back in when he realizes he’s hearing a conversation.
“...And how long ago did this happen?”
“About forty five minutes. It took me almost thirty to get him to respond to me.”
He’s on a bed, he realizes. His visor is off, but his mask is on. His jacket has been removed, and a blue coat has been draped over him like a blanket.
“I understand. Thank you for bringing him here, Genji.”
His brain finally catches up. “...Ana.”
“Jack.”
He grunts. God, his head hurts. He feels sick. He’s so tired.
“Heard you had some trouble, today.”
“Fuck off, Amari.” He doesn’t even have the energy to hide the emotion in his voice. “You know what it was like.”
“I stayed much further away, on average, than you did. But...yes. I know.”
“You’re a fucking sniper. Of course you were farther away.” He shivers, curling slightly on his side. “...Fuck.”
“...Genji,” Ana speaks again. “Thank you again for bringing him to me. I think he will need some time to recover. I’ll take it from here.”
“Of course. Let me know how he is doing later?”
“Of course.”
“Thank you.” Genji stands. “Rest well, Morrison.”
Jack’s quiet until he hears the door close. “...Great. Fun.”
“Don’t. Jack, do not feel embarrassed or guilty.”
“Fucking stupid-”
“Jack.” Ana rests a hand on his shoulder.
“...I thought about him, Ana.” He slowly opens his eyes, wincing. “...Thought I was gonna die, and...”
“...Which time?”
“The time in Germany. When the entrance caved in, and I was bleeding out alone in a storeroom.”
“...I’m sorry, Jack.”
He grunts gain. “...I don’t want to think about this, anymore.”
-
“Will you two just tell me what the fuck is going on?” Sombra huffs, pulling at her hair.
“You seriously don’t know?” Lena blinks, watching her. “But it’s so obvious!”
“To us, Lena. But we worked with him, remember?” Jesse adjusts his hat.
“I’m about to beat you over the head if you don’t fucking answer me!”
“It’s about Soldier 76.” He rests a hand on her shoulder. “We know who he is. We thought you did too.”
“No, I looked everywhere, though every archive I could find.”
“Som. Come on. You work with Gabe, for Christ’s sake. You find Ana alongside some random military guy, and you don’t put the pieces together?”
She stares at him, before her eyes widen and glow a deeper purple. “You can’t be serious. There’s no way!”
“It’s true.” Lena nods.
“How?? No one could survive the kinds of things that were reported!”
“He didn’t fall, for starters. Got out of there and took off, I assume.” She shrugs. “The details don’t really matter.”
“But this is big! If Gabe’s here, and Jack’s alive, we can reunite them! They’ve been in pain for years, they need this!”
“That’s the hard part.” Jesse starts to pace, but he stills when the door opens.
“Sorry I am late.” Genji enters quickly, closing the door behind him. “Morrison met Bastion.”
“Oh shit.”
“Are they both okay?”
“They are both fine. ...Ish. Morrison is recovering with Ana.” He stretches his arms. “What are we talking about?””
“How to tell the two of them that they’re alive.” Sombra crosses her arms.
“They told you while I was gone? Now I’m disappointed.”
“Shut up. Do you have an idea, or not?”
“I think I do.”
-
“How are you feeling, Doctor?” Her assistant speaks quietly, as she enters the room.
“I am ten minutes of shouting away from killing Akande and everyone else in this building.” Moira grumbles, rubbing at her temples.
“Migrains again?”
“Yes.”
“Do you want me to-”
“No. Thank you, but no. They’re refusing to take me seriously.” She sighs. “‘You can’t even control those in your grasp’, as if that means I don’t deserve respect or basic human decency.”
“So he continues to be unreasonable.”
“Yes.” She turns, looking up at her. “Have you had any luck with the samples?”
“Sample 93W caused it to react as if it was being scalded or burned. Sample 27A refused to mix. Sample 15C caused a minor reaction, but not enough to be interesting.”
“Unfortunate. Do you think I could get away with killing Akande?”
“No. What tests should we run next?”
“Mix half of what remains with Sample 7R, the other half with Sample 132DM.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes. What if I kill all his associates?”
“I’m one of those associates. No.”
“I obviously didn’t mean you-”
“No.”
“Hmmph. Fine. Get back to work.”
-
Angela’s anxious.
She can’t really help it, she’s pretty sure she’s been anxious for the past fifteen years. She’s constantly working, avoiding sleep for as long as she can manage. She’s sure that if it were medically possible to replace blood with coffee, she would have done so years ago.
It’s worse now. There’s no missions going on, no one is hurt. The lack of injuries is a good thing. The lack of work to do is not.
She sighs softly, rubbing at her eyes as she hears the door open. “Come in.”
“Doctor Ziegler.” Zenyatta’s voice is calm, as he floats into the room with a tray of breakfast food.
“...Is it time to eat already?” She looks away. “...I didn’t notice.”
“I know. That is why I’ve taken to making sure that you do, after all.” He sets the tray on her desk, tilting his head slightly. “Are you alright?”
“...No.” She rubs at her face again. “...I don’t know if I ever will be again.”
“What’s wrong?” He floats nearby, resting a hand on her shoulder. “...Is it Moira?”
“This is all my fault!” She takes a breath to hold back tears. It’s been over seventy two hours since she last slept, and her walls are crumbling. “Everything that’s happened, it’s all my fault...”
“That’s not true. Do not take blame for someone else’s actions. You did not control her, even when you two worked together.”
“Gabriel is my fault!”
“No. You gave him another chance, but what he became was never because of you.”
“It was! Everything that Moira’s done, all the people she’s hurt, everyone she’s killed, it’s all my fault!” She slams her fists onto her desk, almost spilling her coffee.
Zenyatta rests both hands on her shoulders. “Angela.” His tone is quiet. “Why do you feel this way? Surely you know that the only actions you are responsible for are your own.”
“Because Gabriel Reyes wasn’t the first person I ever brought back to life.” Tears are falling down her face, as she looks at Zenyatta. “He was the second.”
“...Oh.” He’s quiet for a bit. “...Angela, I’m so sorry...”
She finally bursts into tears, hugging him tightly as she sobs.

RANDOM OVERWATCH/MCHANZO HEADCANONS
My headcanons are usually global, so to say, so once established they mainly hold true for anything I write in that fandom until canon actively overwrites it (and sometimes even after that if I think the real answer is dumb ha ha). Most of what I’ve already done is the ‘Scoundrels and Thieves’ AU series.
- Shimadamom died during the omnic crisis, since I feel like she would come up a lot more if she was actually around when her sons literally tried to murder each other. (It would also explain why Hanzo shoots the omnic in ‘Dragons’ even as he goes to some lengths to only incapacitate the other guards and why he thinks Numbani sucks, as well as adding a layer of ouch to Genji’s... robo-dysphoria.) Hanzo remembers her better than Genji does, since Genji would have been pretty young at that point.
- Hanzo is a dog person (oh hello there entire alternate wardrobe made up of wolf imagery) and Jesse is a cat person. (Both because of That Scene in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly with the kitten and the hat (!!!!!) and because really he himself is kind of a very affable yet still half-feral tomcat kind of a man)
- In ‘Scoundrels and Thieves’, at least, Jesse started out smoking cigarettes and graduated to cigars as he got older/had more cash, for that Authentic Man With No Name Look. He still goes for cigarettes sometimes when he’s on edge because he finds the little rituals of rolling them comforting. (Hanzo also has a very private Pavlovian reaction to the smell of a certain brand Jesse smoked around the time they started sleeping together. I’ll let you fill in the embarrassing details in your own time.)
- Hanzo usually cuts his own hair - just chops a bit off with a knife or something when it gets too annoying. The first time it was the dramatic symbolic gesture of dishonor ™, but these days it’s just because he can’t be bothered with anything fancier, in the same vein as ‘why even put my shirt on all the way btw did I mention I KILLED MY BROTHER’. (Yes, I know it’s a real traditional archery technique thing, just… let me have this.) Probably also why he wears it up most of the time so you can’t really tell it’s a bit of a catastrophe.
- Jesse taught himself how to play the guitar as a kid and has a wonderful voice for everyday life - it doesn’t belong on a stage but it is perfect for crooning in the background while making dinner or doing chores, stuff like that.
- Jesse is quite ticklish, a fact Hanzo ‘Innate Talent for Strategy and Tactics’ Shimada uses without compunctions when it suits his goals. (His goals usually being a Jesse pink-faced and loose-limbed with laughter)
- Hanzo looks A LOT like his dad but takes after his mum personality-wise - more cynical and closed off except for with their loved ones - while Genji looks more like their mum.
- Jesse’s parents died during the war, quite early on. (tbh this is mostly b/c it breaks my heart to imagine his family would be okay with him having become a notorious killer by the age of seventeen. Like. Bro. I’d rather have someone love and protect him unflinchingly and then having no choice in leaving him. Though if the Deadlock gang had some element of a family business that would mean ANOTHER parallel between them, so if that’s how canon eventually lands I can work with that too ha ha)
- Do you ever think about Jesse at fourteen, coming back from a fight victorious but with new constellations of scars and bruises, curling up somewhere no one’ll find him to watch that scene in For A Fistful of Dollars where the man with no name gets beat up to hell and back and still gets out of it through sheer tenacity and being a tricksy fuck
Because I think about that every day and that’s why I’m constantly on the verge of tears
Anyway not so much a headcanon there as a window into the dark aching corners of my soul let’s carry on
- Jesse is demisexual, Hanzo is gay.
- At first I had settled for Hanzo being bi (what better orientation for a ninja than one that makes you invisible, after all? Who’s bitter you’re bitter) but then there were the White Day lines between Hanzo and Genji and now I’m 100% convinced that he’s gay, if only because it’s so much funnier to me. Let me show my work a bit here:
So as far as I understand, on Valentine’s day in Japan it’s women who give the ~*special men*~ in their life chocolates/gifts. (There’s also an uh ‘tier’ of chocolate that’s completely platonic and is given to friends and coworkers, but from the tone of Genji’s voice I doubt that’s what he’s talking about lol) White day is a month later, and it’s when the men reciprocate the gifts they were given. So essentially what Genji is doing with that line is going “SO… any special GIRLS in your life bro?? *I know you can’t see my face through the visor but you can feel the wink wink nudge nudge through the air*” and Hanzo’s answer is a sort of long-suffering reference to young Genji’s playboy lifestyle as well as a callback to a previous voice line between them, not a slight aimed at any cocoa beans.
Now I like to imagine bb!Genji as a bit of a hilarious dick - like basically sweet and well-meaning, but also hugely spoiled, self-absorbed and easily distracted. It would lend Hanzo’s annoyance so many levels of hilarity if his little brother just… hadn’t realized that the reason he wasn’t dating girls wasn’t just a) he’s been riding a wave of shame, guilt, grief, depression & light alcoholism these last ten years and it’s hard to date with a tight schedule like that, b) he is kind of weird and socially awkward at the best of times, c) his eventual anachronistic weirdo soulmate was running around on the other side of the world doing crazy shit for Overwatch
The reason he’s never dated any girls is that he’s FUCKING GAY
Like it was not as though it was secret, Genji, all you’d have to do was fucking pay attention or hey, ask at any point in the last closing-in-on-forty-years and it would have been EASILY AVAILABLE INFORMATION
FATHER KNEW AND HE NEVER NEEDED TO ASK,GENJI
Anyway I thrive on Hanzo Shimada’s annoyance and consternation because he takes everything so damn seriously and I love him very much
(Obviously in the ‘Scoundrels and Thieves’ ‘verse Genji does know. He’s not THAT massively oblivious.)
- Jesse is mostly ambidextrous but prefers to shoot with his right hand. I think there was some kerfuffle about his holster being put on both sides in official art that prompted this one? I’m not above going ‘*shrug* why have continuity errors when you can have headcanon’
- Shimadadad, intent on his sons not turning into Useless Rich Ninja Kids, made sure they were taught some essential life skills, like cooking and laundry and shit - meaning Hanzo knows how to make a handful of dishes to, like, double Michelin Star levels. He doesn’t actually enjoy it very much, though, so mostly he won’t. Meanwhile Jesse has no outside training whatsoever beyond at one point being shown how to turn on a microwave but figured things out on his own and has pretty good instincts. Hanzo prefers Jesse’s cooking and will happily just do chopping duty (which he’s still proficient at to the point that Jesse’s not sure whether to be unsettled or turned on).
- Jesse learned about horses from an older lady who semi-adopted him after finding him feverish and bleeding in her back garden when he was in his early teens. He stayed on her ranch for a couple of years and then left because he was worried some of the people he’d pissed off would be able to track him down there and burn it all down.
- Hanzo doesn’t like - or really get - giving and receiving gifts as a way to express affection. I’m pretty sure his line of association would go something like gifts ----> money ------> business -----> bribe -----> obligation -------> duty -------> faMILY OH GOD EVERYTHING JUST GOT REAL MESSED UP AND COMPLICATED IN MY HEAD I NEED A DRINK
- Another one where I’ll accept either outcome: I can’t decide from the in-game dialogue if Genji and McCree’s relationship is more bro-like ribbing or if they’re actually a little uh. Adversarial. (“You’re not quicker than a bullet”: a Schröedinger’s playful banter/death threat lol) If they’re mostly friendly that’s great! They can form a harmonious ‘Save Hanzo From Himself’ support group. If they’re more antagonistic? Pure. Fucking. Hilarity. Can you imagine Genji being SO FUCKING MAD because as it turns out the one thing in this world that has ever made his sadsack brother happy is that cocky jingle-jangle bizarro Western cosplay jackass. Like naturally I would prefer it if they were bros but I never turn down comedic potential like that.
- Jesse’s greatest fear has to do with being seen and with leaving. He’s very clearly set up a theatrical, elaborate part of his identity between himself and the world - I don’t think any psychologically unscarred person goes ‘well I’ll just wrap myself in this loner/vigilante archetype until it works for me’ lol. It’s a very smart ‘people are going to look at me so let’s make sure they can’t actually see me’ move. Also it makes me sad that me must have, like, reverse abandonment issues: every time he belongs to something - to the Deadlock gang, to Overwatch, to Hanzo in ‘Scoundrels and Thieves’ - he’s inevitably forced to leave it behind. (I guess this is part of why I love the pairing so much; they’re both wanderers now, they can go together ;____;)
Hanzo’s greatest fear is to really hurt someone he loves again. (Remember that time in Junkenstein’s Revenge where Jack looks at Reaper and goes ‘what could turn a man into this’ and Hanzo immediately answers “To be tested, and to fail”? Because I remember that all the time.)
