A new treatment combining ReCET and semaglutide could eliminate the need for insulin in type 2 diabetes, with 86% of participants in a study no longer requiring insulin therapy. The treatment was safe and well-tolerated, and further trials are planned to confirm these results.
Groundbreaking research presented at UEG Week 2024 introduces a promising new treatment approach for type 2 diabetes (T2D) that has the potential to greatly reduce or even eliminate the need for insulin therapy.
This innovative approach, which combines a novel procedure known as ReCET (Re-Cellularization via Electroporation Therapy) with semaglutide, resulted in the elimination of insulin therapy for 86% of patients.
Globally, T2D affects 422 million people... While insulin therapy is commonly used to manage blood sugar levels in T2D patients, it can result in side effects... and further complicate diabetes management. [Note: Also very importantly it's fucking bankrupting people who need it!!] A need therefore exists for alternative treatment strategies.
Study Design and Outcomes
The first-in-human study included 14 participants aged 28 to 75 years, with body mass indices ranging from 24 to 40 kg/m². Each participant underwent the ReCET procedure under deep sedation, a treatment intended to improve the body’s sensitivity to its own insulin. Following the procedure, participants adhered to a two-week isocaloric liquid diet, after which semaglutide was gradually titrated up to 1mg/week.
Remarkably, at the 6- and 12-month follow-up, 86% of participants (12 out of 14) no longer required insulin therapy, and this success continued through the 24-month follow-up. In these cases, all patients maintained glycaemic control, with HbA1c levels remaining below 7.5%.
Tolerability and Safety
The maximum dose of semaglutide was well-tolerated by 93% of participants, one individual could not increase to the maximum dose due to nausea. All patients successfully completed the ReCET procedure, and no serious adverse effects were reported.
Dr Celine Busch, lead author of the study, commented, “These findings are very encouraging, suggesting that ReCET is a safe and feasible procedure that, when combined with semaglutide, can effectively eliminate the need for insulin therapy.”
“Unlike drug therapy, which requires daily medication adherence, ReCET is compliance-free [meaning: you don't have to take it every day], addressing the critical issue of ongoing patient adherence in the management of T2D. In addition, the treatment is disease-modifying: it improves the patient’s sensitivity to their own (endogenous) insulin, tackling the root cause of the disease, as opposed to currently available drug therapies, that are at best disease-controlling.”
Looking ahead, the researchers plan to conduct larger randomized controlled trials to further validate these findings. Dr. Busch added, “We are currently conducting the EMINENT-2 trial with the same inclusion and exclusion criteria and administration of semaglutide, but with either a sham procedure or ReCET. This study will also include mechanistic assessments to evaluate the underlying mechanism of ReCET.”

Note: If it works even half as well as suggested, this could free so many people from the burden of the ongoing ridiculous cost of insulin. Pharma companies that make insulin can go choke (hopefully).
#would be super interested to hear from people with expertise in the area about how this sounds#obviously it's a small sample size#but they're going to do more trials#and LOOK at that effectiveness rate#insulin#diabetes#healthcare#medicine#diabetic#type 2 diabetes#public health#medical news#good news#hope

As a small twenty year old in college, I just wish I could get the peace and quiet of the outdoors. Can you make me a big hairy lumberjack?
You woke up this morning to the blaring of your alarm. Monday always felt way too early. After grabbing your phone and silencing it you rolled out of bed with a resounding thud. You were so tired of the hustle and bustle of school and work and life in general, it was just never ending. With a huff you dragged yourself into the bathroom, passing your reflection in the mirror. You stopped for a second, gazing over your thin body, wishing it could be something more. There was no time to dwell on those thoughts though, and you turned on the water and hopped into the shower. Hot water cascading over you, you reached for the new body wash you’d just bought. ‘Man Wash: Cedar & Pine Scent’ it said, something the other day had compelled you to try that over the normal wash you usually got. You lathered up, the scent of trees filling the shower. There was something relaxing about that somehow, and you stood there lost in it for a moment before rinsing. It was a 3-in-1 with face wash, so you figured you might as well use it there too. That gave you a hefty dose of that cedar scent directly by your nose.
You realized it’d already been ten minutes and hastily switched off the water, stepping out of the steamy cocoon before grabbing your towel to dry. The mirror in front of you was entirely fogged up as you slipped the towel around and around, but as it cleared something caught your eye. Holding the towel loosely around your waist you stepped closer to the glass, staring at your reflection as it became more visible. It looked like there was something dark on your face. You bent over the counter to get a closer look, staring at what looked like dirt smeared across your upper lip. You wiped the condensation off the mirror and leaned in even closer. It was hair, soft but dark hairs had suddenly sprouted across your upper lip and it looked like on your chin too. You tilted your head around to make sure but it really did seem like they’d just sprouted suddenly. Then your jaw dropped.
As you stared at your reflection you could see thick brown hairs popping out along your jaw, spreading from your chin outwards. The hairs pushed out quickly, climbing up your cheeks engulfing the peach fuzz that was there before. Your wispy mustache thickened up as thicker, darker hairs sprouted between older soft ones, spreading and connecting with the rest of your burgeoning beard. Hairs poured out of your face, itching as follicles were pushed into overdrive cranking out a thick rug across your cheeks. The hairs grew thicker and wirier, tangling together into a solid mass pushing out. It quickly passed an inch long, then two, then three. Your face had vanished entirely behind a curtain of masculinity, and you could feel the itch of new hairs popping out on your neck as it worked down. In shock, you raised your hands and thrust your fingers deep into the beard, scratching at the hairy mass that had appeared within seconds.
You didn’t have time to admire this feat, as moments later you suddenly bowled over, feeling like you’d been kicked in the stomach. You collapsed onto your ass on the bathroom tile, looking down at yourself. Your belly began to grow, pushing out. Your eyes went wide as it hardened with muscle, it wasn’t abs but it showed real strength. You felt the gut, your fingers prodding the layer of thick hard muscle underneath a slight bit of fat. The intense soreness that underlaid your new musclegut spread up, and you watched as your chest pressed out into thick pecs. The mounds pushed and tightened into refined muscle, before softening slightly into huge pillows adorning your chest. Your traps sprang next, putting on size, followed by your shoulders as they puffed into serious boulders. You could feel muscles bulking up all over, the soreness gradually replaced by ecstasy as your body exploded with mass. Your back widened, your arms grew into full-on gun shows, hands thickening to match, your quads and calves doubled in size, even your ass plumped up. It felt like your back was cracking on repeat as it stretched upward, your legs pushing out equally to add another three inches to your height. Not to be outdone, your feet popped as they grew another few sizes.
You laid there, back against the wall, panting from the intense growth. Though it happened in front of your eyes you could scarcely believe it as you squeezed your huge muscle tits in your hands. Sweat was pouring down your huge frame, muscles fatigued severely from inflating so much. That was when the itch returned. Starting in the center of your chest, you looked down to see a thick dark hair push through the skin. You reached up to grab it, feeling the coarse strand between your fingers as you feel more pushing up against the rest of your hand. What started as a few hairs quickly grew into a patch, spreading out as more hairs cropped up over your luscious pecs. A wave of stubble pressed out over the expanse of muscle, shoots of dark hairs elongating into thick strands that gained some curl as they grew. Within seconds your chest was buried in a continuously growing rug, new curls and swirls developing as more hairs grew in. The itch crept outward from your chest, bringing with it a tidal wave of growth. Your collarbone vanished beneath the carpet as wiry strands connected up to your beard. Your shoulders itched from the fur coating taking root, your traps similarly felt the growth. Your bulging biceps and triceps got their own dusting, and your thick forearms became the site of the most luxurious forest of hair, thick strands popping up across the backs of your hands and knuckles.
The feeling of fur erupting across your body was electric, the uncomfortable aspects of itching drowned out by surges of pleasure. Your pits were next to feel it, an increase in sweat leading the way for the blossoming of what were surely to be the most masculine pits around. The bare skin tingled as thick, wiry hairs burst forth, quickly growing into a dense tuft to catch all the sweat dripping down. The hairs tangled together, spreading out over a wider and wider tract, escaping your pits entirely to connect to your chest rug and arm hair. New hairs pushed out between the older ones, until even scratching at the area couldn’t yield the skin below. Your gut itched as the carpet on your chest swiftly moved down over it, burying it beneath layers and layers of fur.

Your groin itched as your sparse bush exploded in size, hair pushing out and spreading like wildfire. The hairs surged up to connect with the rug on your torso and down over your thighs. Your balls ached as they swelled before becoming hidden behind a dense carpet. Your pubes grew denser as more and more hair squeezed out, climbing up the shaft of your growing cock. You could see the rug advancing down your legs, coating your thick thighs and calves in hair, before your feet pushed out a generous covering of hair, with tufts on the toes. Your ass itched as both cheeks darkened slightly as a fur coat enveloped them before racing up your back, the wide expanse itching as hairs conquered the open skin.
Your mind suddenly felt foggy as the stress of school faded, replaced by the desire to get out into nature. What were you doing cramped in this tiny apartment? You got up off the floor and looked again in the mirror, a scrawny student no longer in the reflection. Instead was a tall burly man, bursting with muscle and absolutely coated with hair. It felt right. You walked into your closet to find it now full of flannels and jeans, your work clothes. You pulled on the dirty jeans and threw on the flannel, only buttoning it about halfway. Your work boots were waiting by the door, and you slid them onto your newly grown feet. You grabbed your keys and headed out the door, not eager to be late to work again. You were a lumberjack, after all, the world depended on the wood you provided. It felt good, and you grinned as you hopped into your truck and sped off past your old campus, heading into the forest.

Distract. Divide. Desensitize.

For those just finding out about the destruction of the Georgia Guidestones in 2022: this is exactly how they keep you blind. The monument—designed to endure and provoke thought about humanity’s future—was quietly erased, just like countless other significant events that vanish beneath layers of noise. Why? Because you're meant to miss the real moves while they orchestrate chaos to keep you fixated on distractions.
Take the recent CEO assassination—a so-called act of “vigilantism” being spun to desensitize the public to oligarchs calling anyone who isn’t with them an enemy. Or Trump’s absurd strawman nomination of Matt Gaetz for AG, a spectacle that was never serious but designed to feed the outrage machine. These aren’t random—they’re calculated distractions, conditioning the masses to accept heightened division, alarmist rhetoric, and creeping authoritarian control.
The destruction of the Guidestones wasn’t just about wiping out a controversial monument; it’s part of the playbook. They erase history while feeding the public "heroes" and manufactured conflicts to keep you too distracted to notice the chessboard being reconfigured. So while everyone’s eyes are glued to the spectacle, the powerful move in silence, building the structures they’ll use to lock you out of the game entirely.
Wake up. If you’re only now learning about the Guidestones, ask yourself what you missed today while being fed your latest dose of chaos. This is how they operate: distraction, division, and silence over what truly matters. By the time the dust settles, it’ll be too late to stop what’s been quietly built around you.

didnt wanna hijack someone's post with the Disk Horse, but I just wanna note that bernard being tim's love interest in 2023 is VERY different from him being a side-side-side character in the early 2000s. i think there's definitely a generational divide on how the relationship's perceived bc there's absolutely a difference between how bernard and tim's relationship is portrayed during their time in school versus in adulthood.
part of reading tim's coming out story in the 2020s with relation to bernard is finally acknowledging that we finally broke tim out of his amber glass. this is also, i will note, a SPECIFIC kind of coming-out-story that won't resonate with folks who weren't living through that specific era of homophobia where the fallout of the AIDS crisis overlapped with the rise of mass surveillance and that post-9/11 grimdark take on superheroes across ALL media. it was a weird fucking time. it also won't resonate with anyone who wasn't "growing up" with tim during his time as robin. now, do you HAVE to know every little thing about tim to accept this piece of character development? no, you don't, but you DO have to take into consideration that tim was locked in the time vault for a veryyy long time and a lot of things, including his on-and-off with stephanie, were part of the status quo for his character long before dc decided to pull the trigger with tim's bisexuality.
but what happens when the forever-sixteen isn't sixteen anymore? he grows up! he gets to reflect! he gets to try new things without being held back by the amber glass. time is the key factor here! if you look at tim and bernard's relationship through the eyes of the robin run of that era, of course it's gonna feel weird! that tim could only really take bernard in doses, bc that tim was as much of an asshole teen as bernard was. with the breaking-of-the-amber, we now learn that tim had to do some serious reflection to get to the point where he could say that this guy he used to know COULD be someone special. if you follow tim's story through the lens of a closeted queer raised in the era of when that robin run was being published, tim's just another queer guy who's finally come to terms with the fact that, that dude he went to high school with who he just ran into at the target might not be so bad after all. he's kinda cute, actually. did he think he was cute back in the tenth grade? probably not, but he's not in tenth grade anymore, now is he?
could DC comics have created an entirely new character to serve the narrative purpose of tim's coming out special? sure. then we woulda had ten years worth of criticism from fandom about how tim magically found a guy superhot and thus dumped stephanie over it, and we would circle back to the same argument about whether tim was a douchebag for dumping stephanie for some rando, and that his bisexuality is an asspull versus 'relevant character development'. either way, it would have upset the status quo. now, is that to say timsteph was never real? no! tim and stephanie talking about his erratic behavior and him coming out to her was to SPECIFICALLY address how him being bisexual isn't meant to downgrade their relationship, or that their love wasn't real. for anyone who's still whining about timsteph not being real anymore bc bernbear entered the chat, i've long stopped seeing it as legitimate criticism bc there are YEARS worth of content with them to indulge in. shitting on a coming-out story and a romance that hasn't even had five real-time years to be explored is just straight up crass and highlights much more insidious problems in the fandom aka the rampant homophobia, quick-to-anger behavior of fans who never learned media or litcrit, and motherfuckers who ride or die for status quo like it'll kill them to enjoy something tangential.
long story short, timbern real and so is timsteph, and one of these days, inshallah bartkon will be real too.

Did you know that long term alcohol use is worse for your brain & organs than long term clean diacetylmorphine use? Or most opioids in general? Did you know that alcohol kills more people annually than any other drug? So why is it that the former is legal, socially acceptable & advertised on every street corner & the latter is unfairly stigmatized, criminalized & demonized? Did you know opioids use to make great antidepressants & were once legal & used for such in the early 1900s? There are many legal & commonly available things that are addictive & more destructive on your physical health. Yet the masses have been conditioned to believe opiates/opioids are some of the most "dangerous" drugs. Swiss study showing 15 years of daily heroin use resulted in no adverse health complications - https://harmreductionjournal.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12954-020-00412-0 "No serious heroin-related medical complication occurred during the 15-year window of observation among inmates with heroin-assisted treatment. Their work performance was comparable to that of the reference group." Opioids as antidepressants - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5189718/ " Historically, MOR agonists have also been applied in the treatment of mood disorders, notably including major depressive disorder (MDD). Indeed, until the mid-20th century, low doses of opium itself were used to treat depression, and the so called “opium cure” was purportedly quite effective.9 With the advent of tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs) in the 1950s however, the psychiatric use of opioids rapidly fell out of favor and has been largely dormant since, likely due to negative medical and societal perceptions stemming from their abuse potential. However, there have been scattered clinical reports (both case studies and small controlled trials) since the 1970s indicating the effectiveness of MOR agonists in treating depression. The endogenous opioid peptide β-endorphin, as well as a number of small molecules, have all been reported to rapidly and robustly improve the symptoms of MDD and/or anxiety disorders in the clinical setting, even in treatment resistant patients.10–17 These results have been recapitulated in rodent models, where a variety of MOR agonists show antidepressant effects.18–21 " One of the reasons heroin even became so heavily criminalized originally was so that they could target anti-war hippies & black communities - https://www.vera.org/reimagining-prison-webumentary/the-past-is-never-dead/drug-war-confessional “You want to know what this [war on drugs] was really all about? The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people. You understand what I’m saying?
We knew we couldn’t make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news.
Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did.” - Nixon's Adviser The fact that you can drink yourself to death with alcohol or consume various toxic chemicals pushed by big names, but using opioids to enhance your life (be it pain or depression or both) makes you a "junkie" and a "criminal" who "needs help". This is a total hypocritical violation of people's right to bodily autonomy & their right to pursuit of happiness. END THE DRUG WAR

Oh right I saw examples with it, but not in Manhwhas but in Chinese bite sized short webnovels
Asian fiction has similarities so it's not rare they have similar tropes, I read Chinese short webnovels (cuz I can't handle the full length 1000+ ones) translated in Vietnamese and it's a whole community in Vietnam
Some are good, some are terrible but you can't expect much from short stories, anyway it's a huge trend that they write stories where those are criticisms on the tropes of "mindless genocides on a big number of people for the smallest things", like "killing an entire family cuz a kid said my daughter's hairpin looks ugly" sorta thing, though sometimes the mass genocide is for a deeper reason since it's a stereotypical trope and actual historical fact that a clan's mass execution is a real thing usually for treason, though the real life events are because one of the families committed treason or show disrespect to the Royalty, it's more than "someone said something bad about my kid", the reasons can be deep shit like murder of high profiled individuals, Embezzlement, corruption etc. it happens in Vietnamese history too, it could be one huge charade where a family gets framed and they got unfairly executed, usually the details are much complicated than we think, court schemes are much terrifying than petty fightings of women over the Emperor
Though this "clan's mass execution" or the historical name is "Nine relatives extermination", the punishment involved the execution of all relatives of an individual, which were categorized into nine groups, it's another historical victim of historical fiction, using something serious as an outright minor thing even though it should not be that way, it's ridiculous that a family gets killed cuz someone scolds the princess, even though this isn't entirely impossible, people can kill for the smallest things, it's not false or illogical, you know how humans are, they're easiest the ones who would kill cuz they're just pissed at you for no reasons
But sometimes ppl abuse this trope so much, it's ridiculous, this punishment in its long history is supposed to be a bad thing, no one actually thinks this punishment is great bcuz it's a universally accepted concept that you shouldn't be punished for someone's crime much less being punished for the crime of a relative, so yeah I would appreciate it if Fiction treats this as normal, as bad as it is, not the clown shows they did with it
I've seen or heard of or imagine examples where the Protag Princess easily orders the deaths of a family cuz her friend outshines her, hell there's a scene where the Princess' Mother ordered the execution of a clan cuz her daughter's friend's dress is better than her daughter's, a Protag when he's Emperor wants a family dead cuz they refused to do this and that to him (Like ending an engagement of their daughter to him cuz the guy goes broke or he's just unworthy) in the past even though their refusal wasn't unwarranted and even seem right at the time, you know those examples where FL's hot dad killed an entire family cuz they kinda slight his daughter for the littlest things, it's utterly ridiculous
It's terribly shallow, cuz this trope can be played for a minor backdrop or a justified punishment, you can't justify killings, murder in any way isn't entirely good, it's understandable but it's not good
There can be stories where the Protag is driven by revenge cuz their family was unfairly executed which can be good but then some of them ended up putting the same things on others like them (Making the clan's execution happen to someone else), it's just totally fucked up and the Protag being glorified for it is just shitty to me, that's why I would say if the crimes are committed by a number of people, then that number of people should be punished, don't drag innocent lives into this bullshit
Thank you for the dose of education.
I'd say more but you pretty much got it all covered here.

Last month, our study titled, Excess Cardiopulmonary Arrest and Mortality after COVID-19 Vaccination in King County, Washington, was officially published in the Journal of Emergency Medicine: Open Access:
Here’s a concise summary of our study (Abstract):
Introduction: Since the onset of widespread COVID-19 vaccination campaigns, there have been concerns about serious cardiovascular adverse events as a result of mass vaccination. This study aimed to estimate excess cardiopulmonary arrest mortality in King County, WA, and investigate any association with COVID-19 vaccination rates.
Methods: An exploratory data analysis was performed. Comparative analyses were performed to evaluate the changes in total EMS attendances over time. Excess deaths were calculated using the 2015-2020 cardiopulmonary arrest mortality trend line. The relationship between excess cardiopulmonary arrest mortality and vaccination rates was analyzed using polynomial regression analysis.
Results: Approximately 98% of the King County population received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine by 2023. As of August 2nd, 2024, there have been approximately 589,247 confirmed COVID-19 cases in King County. In 2021- 2022, Total EMS attendances in King County sharply increased by 35.34% from 2020 and by 11% from pre-pandemic years. Cases of 'obvious death' upon EMS arrival increased by 19.89% in 2020, 36.57% in 2021, and 53.80% in 2022 compared to the 2017-2019 average. We found a 25.7% increase in total cardiopulmonary arrests and a 25.4% increase in cardiopulmonary arrest mortality from 2020 to 2023 in King County, WA. Excess fatal cardiopulmonary arrests were estimated to have increased by 1,236% from 2020 to 2023, rising from 11 excess deaths (95% CI: -12, 34) in 2020 to 147 excess deaths (95% CI: 123, 170) in 2023. A quadratic increase in excess cardiopulmonary arrest mortality was observed with higher COVID-19 vaccination rates. The general population of King County sharply declined by 0.94% (21,300) in 2021, deviating from the expected population size. Applying our model from these data to the entire United States yielded 49,240 excess fatal cardiopulmonary arrests from 2021-2023.
Conclusions: We identified a significant ecological and temporal association between excess fatal cardiopulmonary arrests and the COVID-19 vaccination campaign. The increase in excess cardiopulmonary arrest deaths may also be attributed to COVID-19 infection and disruptions in emergency care during the pandemic. Urgent further research is needed to confirm our observations with attention to risk mitigation for incident events and improved survival with resuscitation.
Please enjoy my interview with Bill Quinn on CDM, where I answer important questions pertaining to our new study.

This week is about some D&D odds and ends. The first is a big one: Supplement II: Blackmoor. It’s the third D&D product (after the box set and Gygax’s Greyhawk) and an extremely important one. Though Arneson’s name is on it (and his world of Blackmoor was the original D&D campaign setting), there is some debate over who wrote the bulk of this book, but whoever typed the words, the constituent ideas feel very different from what we’d consider the core of D&D, and thus are likely firmly from Arneson’s Twin Cities group.
There’s a hit location system that is never again revisited. The monk and the assassin are introduced here as are a host of water-based monsters, including the classic sahuagin, morkoth and Ixitxachitl.
The main attraction, though, is the very first D&D adventure, The Temple of the Frog. Detailed over 20 pages, it is the first serious look players got at what a D&D adventure could be. It doesn’t really line up with our modern conception of the game — there is a mass combat component, for instance, and a good dose of science fiction (the proportion of science fantasy here reminds me more of Arduin than Barrier Peaks). In a truly bizarre oversight (again, reminding me of Arduin), there are no attributes provided for the frog people who live at the center of the temple.
Most interesting of all, though, is how clearly you can see the path not taken when reading through this book. There’s a whole parallel universe of RPGs in this book.

Christmas Fics 2023 (Part 7):
Philosophical Hearts and Latte Art by caruciatus, likelyunfinished - M, 2 chapters - Studies show that Christmas time is one of the loneliest holidays of the year. To some, this may seem like a fallacy. To others, namely Remus Lupin and Hermione Granger, this is an absolute truth. What the holidays tend to show us is that sometimes the best presents do not belong under the tree; instead, they come in the form of Sirius Black and Draco Malfoy holding a cup of mocha. This holiday season, we welcome you to embark on a universal exploration where little do Hermione and Remus know that Draco and Sirius would become their North Stars, guiding them home.
bruises on his thighs (and other places) by riddikulus_puff - E, one-shot - Hermione Granger always took care of the ones she loved. However, one step out of line and the consequences were dire. Punishments always came to those who misbehaved; only good little boys deserved a reward.
Quiet Christmas Eve by MidnightPhilosopher - T, one-shot - A Christmas Eve walk in the snow, taste-testing cookies, and some amazing news. Just a quiet Christmas Eve.
Lazing Celebrations by Biirdiee_Rose - E, one-shot - “Draco—” She scoffs, certainly trying to chastise him. “We’re supposed to be out in the ballroom— anyone could walk back here!” “Can’t a man ravish his wife for just a moment? Just a little fun, and then I’ll return you to the masses.” It wasn’t technically a lie, although he doubted she would want to return after this. From the way she wiggled against him currently, her bum pressing back into his growing erection, he would guess she wouldn’t last five minutes. “You’re cruel.” She accuses, her hands reaching back around to grip into the fabric of his robes for support. “You know I don’t like to play fair, darling,” He says, teeth nipping along the column of her throat. “I didn’t want you coming here at all tonight, and I especially warned you against those shoes. You can’t blame me for doing what I can to get you out of them.” - While at the Christmas Eve Gala his parents throw every year, the only thing Draco has on his mind is getting his pregnant wife home for the night. And he's not afraid to play a little dirty to get his way.
A Perfectly Normal Christmas by Kayka - T, one-shot - Hermione should have realized Christmas was doomed when the mistletoe spontaneously caught fire. This was all somehow Draco Malfoy's fault, and now she can't seem to stop running into him everywhere.
Four Christmases by vannminner - M, WIP - You can't spell families without lies - and the Granger / Malfoy duo had been spinning quite a few of those. As fate would have it, however, they're forced to unveil the truth to everyone in a series of four Christmases.
Merry Christmas, Darling by oceanxpoppy - E, one-shot - After Draco missed the last porkey home for the holidays, Hermione resigned herself to a Christmas Eve at home alone. Her mind drifts to Christamases past and she gets caught up in the memory of the way Draco so expertly takes care of her.
One per day by hufflepuffchaos - G, one-shot - Draco knows how important muggle traditions are for Hermione, so he tries to bring one of them to life during the Christmas season.
While She Was Sleeping by MamaGorgon - M, one-shot - It's Christmas at St. Mungo's and Hermione's mum won't wake up. Fortunately, Healer Malfoy is there to bring her a cup of tea and develop a serious crush.
A family for Christmas by Anonymous - G, one-shot - Hermione is spending her first Christmas with her boyfriend's family. A guaranteed dose of fluff, a touch of Christmas and a whole lot of love!
Magical Mishaps: A Malfoy Anniversary Extravaganza by Helledore - T, one-shot - Draco and Hermione's seventh anniversary takes an unexpected turn when Hermione is fired from the Ministry.
Power over me by thatblondebitvh - E, one-shot - The grey eyes glaring at her in surprise from the porch are the last thing she expects to see in the middle of a Scottish forest two days before Christmas. "Malfoy?" At the same time, her unexpected guest says, "Granger? What are you doing here?" OR; the one where Draco Malfoy gets lost in a Scottish forest during a storm, breaks his car, and finds a beautiful witch to help him heal. Theoretically speaking.
Midnight by uzumakibrat - G, one-shot - December nights brought teeth chattering cold and stomach twisting nightmares. One night, it had become too much for her to bear alone.
Eight Years, Nine Days, Forever by houseofpercypotter - M, one-shot - In the past, Hermione learns how to be there for someone who has nobody on Christmas. In the present, she is just trying her hardest not to bludgeon him to death with a candy cane.

“So,” Blue said to him over their morning breakfast— yogurt for her, the fruity dregs for him, plus a mug the size of a small butter churn full of black coffee to prepare her for a long day at the public defenders’ office. “I think you should have sex with Ronan.”
“What.” Gansey replied, softly owlish in his wireframes with all his muscles out, shirtless at the table that in the mornings he called the breakfast nook but was actually just the table they ate all their meals on.
Life in their matchbook apartment revolves around that table. He was reading the paper (the finance section) idly. Later, he’d make himself a plateful of scrambled eggs. For now, he was still mostly asleep, sitting up like a prop to well-wish his partner out the door.
Blue’s cell phone was going off, chirruping insistently. She took one last big spoonful of strawberry-flavored dairy goodness and kissed her fingertips before she answered Blue Sargent, pressing them to his mouth as she passed on her way to defend the disenfranchised masses.
“What.” Gansey mumbled to himself again, and then got up to go water all his plants. Their apartment resembled some kind of strange urban jungle, with greenery lush and alive on every possible surface. On their tiny balcony, he had a potted lemon tree that lived in their bathroom on winter nights but thrived now in the summertime light, fruited and vital. He liked it— being surrounded by so much life.
He was a gentleman of leisure; he spent his days trading stocks and caring for his plants and going to the gym and working idly on his thesis. He’d be a PhD sooner or later— Dr. Richard Campbell Gansey III. For now, he was content to be just this— just Gansey.
What, he texted Blue for good measure, before starting in on his morning dose of protein in the form of expertly-scrambled eggs. It was the only thing he knew how to cook without fail. He and Helen used to eat platefuls at night when they were too polite to wake up the housekeeper but too wracked by growth spurts to go hungry. Blue didn’t respond except to send him a meme about capitalism. He forwarded it to Adam, who sent back funny, because he was too serious and too Adam to ever type out lol.

gonna toss out another clip of my fic for the bear, 'new york minute' which is cousin michelle's pov of the whole new york. thing.
---
It’s only once he soundlessly closes the book again that Michelle realizes that Stevie hasn’t turned a single page since he opened it. He tucks a finger into the pages to mark his place and turns to look at her.
“That was a lot,” he says eventually. His voice is quiet and light but it’s serious, too. “With your family. With Donna. That was a lot.”
Michelle doesn’t agree. She doesn’t need to - that also was not a question. It was a lot. Her family is a lot. Her Aunt Donna is a lot. Nobody’s driven a car through a wall before, but she would be lying if she said catastrophe was an unfamiliar Berzatto holiday tradition.
How did that Don Henley song go?
Somebody’s going to emergency, somebody’s going to jail.
“Are you okay?” The question comes after at least a few full minutes of silence.
The Don Henley song is stuck in Michelle’s head now. It probably will be for a while; it always is. Michael and Richie had belted it at her every time they saw her for weeks, when she first told everyone she was moving to New York. She listens to its soundless persistence for a little longer before answering the question.
It’s a tough question. She loves her family, in the small doses in which it is tolerable to be around them, but when things go bad they go bad. Stevie tells her that she doesn’t have to go every time she gets quiet while they wait at the gate for their flight to Chicago. Say the word and we’ll get on a plane to Knoxville instead. We can visit Dollywood.
(It’s not always Knoxville. It’s whatever the little electronic sign above the next gate over says. Let’s go to Boulder instead. Did you know I never learned to ski? We could always do Rochester. The Mayo Clinic fascinates me. I don’t think there’s anything in Tacoma but one thing that will not be there is your aunt and her questions about when we’re having kids.)
And then they always go back to Chicago, because Michelle loves her family and so does Stevie and the thing they don’t warn you about hightailing it out of the place you grew up is how much of you stays behind with the people who weren’t the reason you left. Also, whenever she gets the mass text about dates and times, she always gets a second one, minutes later, directly to her. I miss you. Please come. And Michelle has never been able to tell Natalie ‘no’ when she says please.
Is she okay, though?
“I will be as soon as Carmy’s plane lands.”

Best Time to Drink Hibiscus Tea for Weight Loss and Its 10 Health Benefits
The Weight Loss Clock
What Is Hibiscus Tea?
Hibiscus Tea, also known as ‘sour tea,’ is made from the hibiscus plant's dried flower parts, leaves, and seed pods. These pods contain the seeds and are important for making the tea. Hibiscus tea has a mix of sweet and sour flavors, making it perfect for hot or iced drinks. That’s why it’s becoming more popular in the health routines of millennials.
Does hibiscus tea reduce belly fat?
Hibiscus tea has compounds like polyphenols that can speed up your metabolism, which means your body burns calories faster. Also, it may help lower the absorption of fat and carbohydrates, leading to less fat storage, especially around your belly. However, remember, it’s not a quick fix. Drinking hibiscus tea should be combined with a balanced diet and regular exercise for the best results in losing belly fat.

Is hibiscus tea good for the skin?
Yes, hibiscus tea is good for the skin! It’s packed with antioxidants that help fight damage from pollution and the sun. These antioxidants can keep your skin looking young and fresh. Plus, hibiscus tea has vitamins and minerals that promote healthy skin, like vitamin C, which boosts collagen production for a smoother complexion. So, sipping hibiscus tea can help keep your skin glowing and healthy.

Top 10 Reasons Why Hibiscus is Good for You
1. Packed with antioxidants
The hibiscus plant has lots of good stuff like beta-carotene, vitamin C, and anthocyanin, all antioxidants. These antioxidants are super helpful for your health. Hibiscus is rich in powerful antioxidants and may help prevent damage and disease caused by the buildup of free radicals.
2. May help lower blood pressure
One of the best-known health benefits of hibiscus tea is that it helps in lowering blood pressure in humans. Several clinical studies have shown that having hibiscus tea regularly helps in reducing systolic and diastolic pressure. However, it is not advised for those who are already on the diuretic ‘Hydrochlorothiazide’ as there might be a risk of interaction.
3. May boost liver health
Hibiscus helps keep the liver healthy, according to several studies. The extract protects the liver from a variety of toxins, likely due to its powerful antioxidant activity. It’s even demonstrated some anti-cancer activity in laboratory tests of liver cells.

4. Aids Weight Loss
If someone wants to shed a few pounds, hibiscus tea might be a helpful addition to their routine. Several studies of hibiscus tea have shown promise in weight management and protection against obesity. It could lead to weight loss, reduced body fat, and improved body mass index. However, these studies have used concentrated doses, so more research is required to establish the benefits of hibiscus tea for weight management.`
5. Improve Cholesterol Levels
High Cholesterol is another health problem that affects millions of adults and contributes to serious diseases like heart attack and stroke. While some clinical studies have shown hibiscus lowers cholesterol levels, others have shown little effect. Hibiscus tea may help maintain healthy cholesterol levels, but once again, we need more research to be sure.
6. Lowers Blood Fat
In addition to lowering blood pressure, some studies have found that hibiscus tea may help improve blood fat levels, which can be another risk factor for heart disease.
7. Boost Immune System
Hibiscus tea, also known as pink tea, is really good for making your immune system stronger. It has lots of vitamin C, which is great for keeping your immune system healthy. Plus, it has iron that helps your immune system stay balanced and keeps your red blood cells healthy. Also, hibiscus tea fights inflammation and bacteria, which also helps boost your immunity.
8. Healthy, Glowing Skin
Hibiscus tea provides vitamin C, which benefits the skin. It promotes the production of collagen in the body. It is also a good source of an antioxidant called myricetin that helps reduce collagen breakdown. Moreover, hibiscus tea contains an antioxidative called anthocyanin, which helps reduce oxidative stress. Thus, it will also slow down the signs of skin aging and is a great way to detoxify the body.
9. Improves Heart Health
Hibiscus tea can also promote a healthy heart. While it’s no replacement for prescription medication, the tea has been shown to help support healthy blood pressure levels in those who have high blood pressure. If you’re under a lot of stress, a nice cup of hibiscus tea might be just the ticket. This tropical tea may help promote healthy cholesterol levels (high-density lipoproteins) in those with high cholesterol. Hibiscus tea may also help regulate the “good” HDL cholesterol and the “bad” LDL cholesterol and triglycerides. We need more science before we can say for sure, but human studies have shown promising results. In any case, an evening cuppa certainly won’t hurt.
10. Helps Keep Hair Healthy
Hibiscus tea has stuff called antioxidants that make melanin, which gives your hair its natural color and stops it from going grey too soon. Plus, it’s full of vitamin C, which helps make collagen and grow hair. The amino acids in the tea make more red blood cells, which helps your hair roots stay healthy by improving blood flow.
Hibiscus Tea Side Effects
It’s important to know what natural supplements work for you and which ones don’t. While hibiscus tea has many health benefits, it’s not suitable for everyone.
If you have low blood pressure, it’s best to avoid hibiscus tea. The same goes for people with high blood pressure who take the medication Hydrochlorothiazide, as hibiscus tea might interact with it.
If you’re recovering from surgery or taking medication to control blood sugar, it’s strongly advised not to drink hibiscus tea.
Hibiscus can also affect estrogen levels, which may impact menstrual cycles. It could be helpful for those with irregular periods or painful cramps, but it might not be safe for others. It’s a good idea to check with your OB-GYN before trying hibiscus tea.
Pregnant women should avoid hibiscus tea because it can cause periods and increase the risk of miscarriage. It’s also best to avoid it if you’re breastfeeding or taking birth control pills.
Conclusion
Hibiscus tea is a delicious treat any time of day. The slightly sour taste is full of tang, the color a true treat when you want to serve something bright and beautiful, and all the health benefits come in as a bonus. From a delicious cocktail base to a cozy cup on the sofa, hibiscus tea is the perfect reminder of how plant power can be the perfect remedy.

RATING: MOSTLY RELIABLE
Polycythemia, also known as erythrocytosis, is a potential side effect of testosterone treatment, particularly intramuscular testosterone.
Source: 'Erythrocytosis occurs in trans men using testosterone. The largest increase in hematocrit was seen in the first year, but also after the first years a substantial number of people present with hematocrit > 0.50 L/L. A reasonable first step in the care for trans men with erythrocytosis while on testosterone is to advise them to quit smoking, to switch to a transdermal administration route, and if BMI is high, to lose weight.'
Polycythemia is not exactly 'too much blood', as the volume is not elevated, but rather is an increased production of red blood cells. The volume remains the same, and as such the blood is 'thicker', increasing the risk of blood clots.
Source: 'Polycythemia, also called erythrocytosis, refers to increased red blood cell mass, noted on laboratory evaluation as increased hemoglobin and hematocrit levels.'
Source: 'This results in secondary erythrocytosis, a potentially serious adverse effect of testosterone therapy as it is associated with an increased risk of thromboembolic events by an increase in blood viscosity (9, 10).'
'Blood letting', or phlebotomy, is a standard treatment for polycythemia.
Source: 'The main treatments for secondary polycythemia are:
low-dose aspirin to thin your blood
bloodletting, also known as phlebotomy or venesection'
one thing about HRT i think is underdiscussed is the fact that if you're on testosterone, you can (sometimes) just produce Too Much Blood, and the way to fix having Too Much Blood is to Do Bloodletting. There are modern day people doing bloodletting as part of their transitions. why does no one talk about this
