Just saw this Jimmy skin for the first time from back when he could still experience joy and whimsy and uh yeah I can't blame anyone for having any parental instincts towards him (looks at myself and my moots and Doc)

I think it was really important specifically for Dee to kiss Yak when he did. Because now, no matter what happens in the future between him and Yak, no matter what pain could come, Dee can look back on his first kiss without regrets. Because that was a kiss made of love. It was made entirely of love for Yak. For who Yak is. For the bond they have. For their friendship. For their relationship. For them. Dee will always be able to look back on his first kiss and know that he got exactly what he wanted from it. He got to keep his silly notion of the perfect first kiss. He got to willingly give his kiss away to someone who he loved that needed it. Every single type of love went into that kiss and now Dee can finally, finally let himself breathe.

Bakugou: I didn't win one class exercise six months ago and I'm still mad about it.
It's amazing how little he had grown from the Battle Trials to the Provisional Licensing Exam. Bakugou clearly was still angry because he viewed Izuku as inherently lesser. He still didn't see Izuku as a person. He felt no anger at himself for taking deadly at another person even when two other hero students were above him in the building. No, he was angry at Izuku for daring to exist outside the box Bakugou created for him in his own head and angry at himself for not being as all powerful as he feels he deserves to be.
I'm not going easy on my criticism of this fight. To be honest, when these chapters first came out, I enjoyed them. I thought Horikoshi was finally going to do something about Bakugou's toxic view of strength and/or have him gain some respect for Izuku as a person. This fight ended up doing neither of those things: Bakugou even until the last manga arc valued people based on their quirks and there is little evidence that Bakugou after this point valued Izuku outside of him being One for All's vessel.

it's interesting to see people getting into tlt because i do think you're either gonna get through gtn and go on to htn or you're not. and then once you get to htn you're either going to stop reading out of confusion or you're gonna trust that you eventually won't be confused.
but also it's funny to see people be like "tlt doesn't take itself seriously," after only having read gtn.
like, no. that's just gideon's narrative voice. gideon doesn't take things seriously and it's a coping mechanism for her. however, that only really becomes apparent after reading htn and ntn because the narration and tone of the story changes so much between each book.
muir, for better or worse, is just really committed to writing from the pov we're currently in.

Spocktober + Trektober Day 14 - Historical AU
Yeehaw, baby!
(ID under cut)
[Image ID: A black and white drawing of Jim Kirk, Spock, and Doctor McCoy from Star Trek: The Original Series.
They are sitting atop a stagecoach. Spock and Jim are sitting on the front bench. Jim has the reins in his hands. McCoy is sprawled out in the back, head leaning on the railing, his feet (clad in cowboy boots) crossed over the railing on the other side. They are all dressed in western clothing with cowboy hats. Spock and Jim are wearing shirts and waistcoats; Spock's is buttoned up, Jim's waistcoat is unbuttoned and his shirt is hanging open to his collarbone. McCoy is also wearing an apron and has his shirtsleeves rolled up. His hat is jauntily placed over his face and he has a stem of straw sticking out from his mouth. Jim and Spock both have stars pinned to their chests that vaguely resemble the Starfleet chevron. Spock is wearing a bolo tie with the IDIC symbol on the pin.
Jim is saying, "Alright, listen, these Dodge City cops aren't likely to trust 'big city folks', so we're gonna have to blend."
Spock replies, "Which is why you're making us wear these absurd hats."
Jim: "...they're not that bad."
McCoy: "Yeah, they are."
Above the drawing is written "Trektober" and "Day 14 - Historical AU" Below it is written "@aerialworms" and "Spocktober"./End ID]

I was multitasking so I missed a lot from the Daggerheart Q&A but truly Matt is always just like. I gotta make this setting more goth.
