Gosh, I see your point about the “Pas que !” being an attempt at ligthening the mood/joking about it, although I’m not sure Karadec would risk making jokes in that instant? I truly interpret it as him seeing Morgane spiraling down a self-esteem loop and trying to stop that train on instinct with the first thing he can think of, but I agree that he says it with a quiiite playful tone that seems designed to cheer her up/de-dramatize somehow, which is also perhaps his own way of conjuring his powerlessness over the situation 😭😭

I have already made this post on how I felt about the “people could love you” line, and while it’s obviously a swoon-inducing line from Karadec, I think in that moment it was a more… calculated one, if that makes sense? Like imo “Pas que” was an emergency protest coming straight from the heart as he saw Morgane self-deprecating, while the people could love you line was a more rational response to her “who could love me”, nah?

Somebody To Love definitely fits (and I was thinking to myself the other day, we need to start digging into Queen for shippy songs because it’s an actual goldmine of existential angst and Morgane is basically a walking ball of existential angst), so does Bonnie and literally any song that’s about begging someone for reassurance 💔💔💔

I’ll have you know that your tags that started this whole thread kept me awake for a good chunk of last night and have inspired me so much that I partially rewrote the first chapter of my post S2 fic in progress to include some ~thoughts that sprouted from it

Also I 100% agree that Morgane started this whole search mainly for Théa and that either outcome breaks everyone’s heart, and I really hope that season 3 will take some time to explore their relationship and the repercussions of the abandonment reveal on Théa because that’s NOT a harmless thing to tell a 16y/o who’s in the process of shaping herself as a person (this is like 60% of the reasons I’m currently writing this post S2 fic).

Speaking of, I feel like there’s a VERY interesting generational thread re Serge - Morgane - Théa in this season ending, in that Serge is basically a mirror of Morgane and the living picture of what she might become in the future (lonely, unemployed, en galère de thune, no longer speaking to her family, etc) IF she doesn’t change the narrative now. Morgane and Serge are literally the same, mind-wise, personnality-wise, and it is strongly implied that Serge left Morgane’s mom and didn’t maintain a relationship with his daughter, which is just the same as what Romain did to Morgane and Théa (and perhaps the reason Serge helped him was that he somehow felt the whole thing relatable?). Without going as far as saying that Morgane chose herself an unreliable partner because of her own dad, I think there’s a whole discussion on intergenerational trauma going on here.

And I think that seeing what has become of her father and finding out the truth about Romain might be Morgane’s chance to, you know, try harder on herself and her relationships, to break the circle, so she and her children won’t make the same mistakes and will finally get the happiness they deserve. And I feel like the whole team can play a very important role in this because it sounds like it’s literally the first time in Morgane’s life that she has an actual support system and people who genuinely love her and she just needs to realize it to start healing ❤

Also now because of you I have this mental image of Karadec mwah-ing everyone who’s in need for comfort and it’s absolutely hilarious to me, but also i can’t help picturing Gilles constantly claiming that he’s feeling down to seek his Commandant’s Comfort Kiss™ 🤣🤣🤣

"Pas que" oh no you’re right, I didn’t think of this bit 😭😭 It reads as a desperate attempt to lighten the mood, too (you could also interpret it in a jokey way, as in "you’re aggravating in many more ways"), because really what else is there to do when your partner's world crumbles before your eyes? And she's having a breakdown in the middle of nowhere? There's nothing either of them can do to fix it and that's why it's heart-wrenching! The past is past and Morgane can only cling onto what the future holds, whatever it is, whatever is it, but please let it be better this time. (Queen’s "Somebody To Love" would be a good match for this, lyric-wise… Or we could go back to Bonnie Tyler, "Hold me / Hold me in your arms / Shelter me from going cold," and even "Pas l’indifférence" de JJG which is--ugh)

Now I just want Morgane to watch this Vine and feel better 😭

If I may add onto the tragic reading from another perspective… 101 makes very clear that she seeks closure about Romain's disappearance in order to heal, finally, because it's driving a wedge between Théa and her. She's doing it for her daughter's sake more than her own (at least imo) because Théa needs her mother more than the father she's never met. And then… All this mess ends in the worst possible way for both of them. She can't possibly lie to her daughter, can she? She resents her own parents for that way too much. Morgane tried so! hard! to make things right but now she'll just have to break Théa's heart on top of her own! She was playing a losing game--she could've stuck to her old ways, been miserable, and hurt Théa in the process; instead she went after the truth, is miserable now and will hurt Théa in the process. Basically: 💔💔💔💔💔
