She loves to dress in that aesthetic and in her public ig she posts some looks but they don't get the attention she'd like. She also makes a lot of custom designs and gives a modern twist to the old money, school girl looks she had on the original gg. She is very inspired by alternativ, artsy, recycled fashion styles.

This one time GG finds her blog/ig and exposes her and she gets very selfcounsious about it but at the end everyone likes what she posts so she gets way more followers and becomes very relatable. People find that she's very smart and deep and funny.

Blair likes reading and doing reviews of the things she reads, mostly novels.

When she starts her online journey she did it when she was in a bad place and felt very alone but when people show her love and support she gets comfortable with herself and her following.

Serena is known for doing tiktoks showing her outfits and she introduces Blair to tiktok and forces her to do challenges where they change outfits and ppl have to guess which style is who, that's how Serena introduces her bestie actually and her followers start shipping them.

Serena is a party girl, it girl influencer but her sunny personality makes her very likeable online and so she has a big following. She wears an outfit that B personalized for her once and everyone goes crazy for Bs designs so they start making content w Bs clothes.

Blair and Serena together are the moment, whether they are on a tiktok or walking to school together or at an event people are there for them bc their styles are so iconic and together they match in the best ways. They both basically look like rich monster high dolls. They get vogue to do a note on them and so on.

Sexuallity and gender:

B for Bi, Blair is bi, she is so certain about it since she kissed Serena when they were tweens bc Blair wanted to practice kissing but she was scared to tell Serena because for Blair feelings are very important and she didn't wanna ruin her friendship w S. (She totally posted a lot of situationships memes and blogged about it as a coping mechanism later).

Serena is pan at first but after dating a lot of guys and not falling really in love with any of them she realizes she's a lesbian cause being w Blair fills her with a much stronger kind of love that surpassed all of the others and suddenly her lack of romantic interest and why she can't commit in relationships makes total sense for her and everyone.

Blair is trans, she knew it since she was very young so she had an early transition. Her parents supported her a lot, Her mom being a designer and her dad being gay, they knew all about it. Serena ofc was w her for all of it and was the first to know. When they were little they liked to play dress up w their moms designer clothes and thats how everyone found out.

Serena goes by she/they pronouns, and there's a point in her life where she just doesn't give a fuck about gender or pronouns cause she's very free about it like why do we have to have gender... can't we all just be people? She's very that mentality.

They are very disrupting and that's what makes them so special, more of a force together.

Drugs, addictions and mental health:

Blair vapes and smokes weed, she started smoking with Nate and they just hang out to smoke and talk about feelings, at first Blair had a crush on nate cause he was so charming and they dated but... well you all know what happened. After that they were distant but grew together again as besties.

Blair had an ed and she had an ed twt, Serena made her delete it when she caught her crying with it open. After that she went to a clinic like in canon.

Serena struggles with an addiction with alcohol, she started to drink to cope with stuff, but then she abused it and got to a very bad place and after intervention from her friends she got sober but struggles w it sometimes, she relays on Blair for support.

(Tw noncon) Serena tried coke with Georgina but left it after Blair found out and got really upset about it. Blair got into a fight w georgina about this and the other noncon stuff she did to Serena in canon. Georgina gets cancelled.

Serena and Nate both have adhd and struggle together in class and then in life. Blair, Chuck and Dan helped them study.

Relationships (Everyone):

Like I hinted, Serena and Blair eventually get together. They are the main focus of the story, not in a romantic way but in a soul mates, best friends who love eachother kind of way, the romance ends up being all the things they do for eachother, the risks taking and the heartbreaks and finally the realization. Blair loves reading romance novels and wishes she were in one but little does she knows... until she realizes and starts to obsess with Serena as her prince charming.

Blair has a thing for Jenny at one point but then she sees Serena is dating Georgina and totally goes insane with jealousy and the need to get them apart. Jenny notices a fixation with Serena on Blairs side and gets emo and dark about it, teaming up with Georgina to get Blair and Serena apart. This doesn't work and Jenny realizes too late that she fucked up but at the end of it the only thing that was right was her intuition that there was something going on with S and B that was more than friendship. Jenny gets very heartbroken. She had pictured a life alongside Blair as very famous fashion designers, she hates Serena for taking that away from her.

Serena tries dating Dan and Nate. First Nate and she friend zones him, then Dan and they both realize they are gay together and become besties. Dan goes to Serena with relationship problems. Serena goes to Dan with Blair problems.

Nate, Chuck and Dan are together... Chuck and Nate were besties as kids but Chuck is basically Max from the new gg and started to have a lot of relationships while Nate is more of the romantic type. He falls for Serena first but in doing so he meets Dan and totally falls harder and fast for him. When they start dating Chuck notices and gets jealous, like someone touched his property. Chuck shares this with Blair and Blair just tells him to get over it and since he's the great Chuck Bass, he shouldn't have a problem with getting Nate back. Chuck tries this but Dan doesn't let him, they start an enemies to lovers arc fighting for Nate and then falling for each other. Is so much drama w them.

Georgina is obsessed with Serena in a toxic way, she can't stand Serena's love for Blair being stronger than Serenas love for Georgina so she does pretty nasty stuff to get Serena away from Blair, this ends up blowing up in her face and getting them closer than ever.

Chuck is also trans, his dad was not cool about it and he had a harder time transitioning but he did it anyways. Hes also bi like Blair. Him and Blair are the t4t it couple. They try dating like Serena and Dan but end up as besties who scheme together for Nate and Serenas (and then Dans) love. Nate is pansexual and Dan is gay. Nate uses he/they pronouns and feels about gender very much like Serena. Dan is the only one who is cis.

Well I know this is long but the thing is that I've been thinking about this since I watched gg for the first time like a year ago or smth. I know the fandom is very cishet but idk maybe someone likes this so I'm putting it out here.

chuck was enrolled in a bunch of activities bc bart didn't want him around so he can play piano, do fencing, play polo, row, play tennis, play lacrosse, speak multiple languages and play golf. as he got older he would just ditch but he does help teach henry to play piano. despite being in almost every rich kid extracurricular he can't really swim

blair learnt how to ride a horse along with serena, and actually enjoyed it but had to stop eventually bc she was too intense and made the horses nervous (and eleanor was concerned she'd get too horse girly) she named her horse audrey

serena really wanted to take art classes but lily thought she'd get too messy so she just snuck into them when she was meant to be at ballroom dancing lessons. blair had to help hide the paint in her hair and on her clothes

nate loved doing every sport he could except golf, and he drove a golf cart into a sand bunker bc he was bored and it was unattended (chuck took the blame and the captain kinda knew but never said anything)

blair and chuck were paired up in dance classes when they were like 8 and actually enjoyed it bc they were so in-sync but didn't tell each other

serena wanted to join in on the boys' hobbies but obviously couldn't so nate and chuck tried to show her how to fence. blair was very enthusiastic to hold a sword too

- serena suffers from withdrawal even into early seasons.

not necessarily physical symptoms but her first instinct when she’s stressed or upset is to turn to drugs or alcohol.

1x03 when blair “exposed her” for her addiction and she had to speak about it in front of everyone was the closest she had gotten to relapsing since getting back to new york. she didnt go out to the met steps to think, she went to stay clean

- nate can’t look into mirrors really for months after everything with catherine. he hates seeing himself without a shirt on especially. he ends up covering his bathroom mirror for a while cause seeing himself without clothes on when he get out of the shower makes him physically ill

- serena, bless her heart, would (pre-willy vd comeback and lily fake cancer scam) defend her dad to ANYONE who even insinuated he was a bad father (which he was).

(side note: this is literally just canon but idc i wanna remind the public)

- blair hates how lily treats serena and eric. she hates the way she discredits them, and disrespects them, and abandons them. but she wishes so much that she were serena’s position sometimes.

because lily has breakfast with her kids and tries to be good to chuck sometimes (even though god knows his ass does NOT deserve it) and she tries to protect them even though it hurts them more than anything and she’s there at home with her kids and that’s more than eleanor waldorf can say

- nate (my little angel boy) would defend serena and blair with his LIFE when they were little kids. he was AT the sleepovers and he was the knight when they played princesses.

he was maybe 10 when another boy in their year started telling other guys he had sleepovers with girls and played princesses with them instead of playing football or baseball or things that normal boys did.

Adding on to say the Chamomix bit feels like a throwaway line the writers didn’t think about too hard and I headcanon that was at the tail end of the marriage and they only lived there a few weeks at most because the implications of Serena having already left the UES once before the Shepherd wedding completely and totally removes all the emotional impact of her Big Leave and it also just doesn’t fit anywhere else with established canon. It’s honestly just really lazy writing imo. Prioritizing a joke over character.

And I definitely think Serena was unplanned considering how young Lily must’ve been and how few years there are between Serena and Scott 🤷🏻‍♀️ like I said in goodbye stranger (or Eric did 😉) “she’s one of those mothers who had kids because of societal expectation, not because she actually wanted them” I’m also gonna shamelessly self promote and add that I explored this more in some words when spoken can’t be taken back

Also re: someone write this fic, I didn’t explore it fully, but there is a vignette about Serena & Eric at the Waldorf’s and Archibald’s in and it’s ever present everywhere (yes more shameless self promotion)

Also re: Liz’s comments, I think you’re absolutely right! It definitely comes off like Eric’s been there for a bit. Add that in with Serena seemingly getting back into Constance and Lily doing all her Ben fuckery within a single weekend and then well…I’m not sure where I’m really going with all of this other than that it doesn’t really add up.

Another writer error is that it’s established at another point that Lily did in fact marry both Klaus/Clauses at some point. In this deleted scene from the pilot, it seems Klaus and Lily’s marriage broke up during the time while Serena was away at boarding school, which contradicts other timelines presented in the show (of course it is a deleted scene)

Also that scene establishes that Eric has clearly been struggling with his mental health for years and years which :( the implications of that are just beyond sad considering Eric is only 14 in the pilot

Anyway I’m rambling, sad childhood is very sad

See that. That would’ve been enough—Serena didn’t spend her entire childhood in the Upper East Side. That tiny fragment alone is fascinating! But the overall point that Lily repeatedly changes herself for men and that affects her parenting style, meaning that Serena and Eric’s home life was even more unstable than previously thought? That’s something to chew on. But wait—there’s more:

B: Oh, your mother. Remember how she always used to just jet off to Mustique or Ibiza without warning while you and Eric were still in school?

S: Eleanor always knew when we showed up with our overnight bags. Lily had a new boyfriend. We tried alternating between you and the archibalds so you guys never knew how bad it really was.

B: We knew.

Like, this is in-text neglect. This is “Lily was in no way ready or able to be a parent” level stuff. (And then you think about the Scott of it all and you have to wonder if Serena was in any way planned or if Lily just couldn’t do that again. You have to wonder.)

And there’s the idea of Blair and Nate and the first time that they ever really added how much time Eric and Serena had been spending at their houses, and the idea of these tiny kids doing their best to make it okay as much as possible, and Serena is trying really hard to parent Eric and make it seem as okay as possible, but Eric is entirely aware even if he can’t say anything because that would make Serena’s life hard, and so everyone’s lying to everyone else and they’re all trying very hard not to talk about how not okay it is.

Still, we continue:

S: I remember this one time, um, when I was eleven. Eric and I wanted a white christmas. Luckily, mom's husband was a raging cokehead, so he left blow everywhere.

L: Oh my god.

E: It wasn't everywhere—just on the smooth, shiny surfaces.

S: Was that, um, German Klaus with a "k," or was it Danish Claus with a "c"? I can't ever remember which ones she actually married or which she just decided were more important than her children.

Like, wow. And you wonder why your kids have issues.

(And I focus a lot on how Lily is bringing unsafe people into her kids’ lives, but she’s also bringing them into her life. Just makes me wanna grab the gossip girl writers by the lapels and shake them until all the explorations of trauma fall out.)

L: Eric, my darling, you are always honest with me. It isn't true, is it?

E: I know Serena’s timing sucked, but she did pretty much raise me all those years. You just weren't here, you know?

L: I wasn't that bad.

E: Our ringtone for you was "Since U Been Gone.” Vanya the doorman used to sign our permission slips from school.

When I put that last bit into i won’t cross these streets, I got several comments re: ow. Because it is, in fact, painful.

But it’s also canon, and it’s one of the multitude of anecdotes that Eric and Serena give us about the pre-series era in this episode—like, the “Since U Been Gone” thing? That’s a whole dark joke coping mechanism shared between them, which means that Eric and Serena chose it together. Maybe it was as simple as Eric getting his first phone and being excited to give reverting custom ringtones, or maybe one of them straight up had a breakdown and the joke was part of a way to calm down. It’s not just saying Lily wasn’t there, it’s giving us all the little parts of what that meant—in anecdotes, in Serena’s stress response focusing so much on Protect Eric, in Eric talking Serena down at the start of the episode and coolly backing her up when she finally loses it

It’s a fucking gift that just keeps giving

BIOGRAPHY

marigold was raised by her grandparents in billings, montana. her parents had her at a young age and we not stable enough to raise her. ultimately she was given to her maternal grandparents to care for and they became her official guardians.

her childhood was relatively quiet and comfortable, except for the one unique feature of her being a witch. thankfully her grandmother had also been granted with magic in her veins and had been able to marigold through the world of magic.

she would never admit it, but the complete lack of a relationship with her parents caused marigold to believe she's not worthy of love. on the flip side, she is always looking for that external validation to prove she *is* worthy of it.

marigold was what someone would call boy crazy growing up. she was that girl who was never single, always moving into a relationship after she left one. and her personality would often change to match her current partner. she has always been a sweet girl, but she lacks a sense of identity.

after college marigold began to attend community college and that is where she met her most recent ex. he was magnanimous and charismatic and made her feel as though she was the sun in the sky. and for a while everything seemed perfect. but after a year she started to see the cracks in his armor, and that was when things became less then perfect.

he was a witch like her and while he was never horrible to her he did envision a world different from what they knew. one where witches did not hide in the shadows but instead were open and powerful. she did not give the ideas much thought, until he began to dabble in dark magic.

they dated for four years, and it was then marigold found out she was pregnant. that was the wake up call she needed. what would he do if her daugther was magically inclined, or not? what plans did he have? as his ability to perform and master dark magic grew stronger every day, her grandmother helped her make a plan. she told her about a safe haven for witches called cardinal hill and sent her on her way.

that was six years ago. marigold has since gone by the name goldie and she's done her best to create a life for herself and her daughter, willa, that is safe and comfortable. she struggles, but she knows it's better then the alternative. she currently has a job at the apothecary and is trying her hardest to save money, while also being the only source of income for her and her daughter.

this is the first time in goldie's life that she has been single and not actively trying to fix herself with a partner. does that mean she's learned her lesson regarding love? no, just that she didn't have the time for it. but she still falls in love with the first person who even shows her a moment of kindness or affection.

when goldie moved to cardinal hill she had a suitcase of items and a large sum of cash that her grandmother had given her to help her start a new life. with it she was able to buy a small, run down home in lower cardinal for her and her daughter. she has been trying to fix it up and make it as homey as she could, but she finds she doesn't have as much free time as she'd like to work on house projects.

with a small remainder of the money she brought with her she was able to buy a few chickens and sells eggs and produce from her garden to make extra money.

due to the nature of her exes magical abilities, goldie has become a bit paranoid with the number of protection charms she has planted around her home. she also made a shield charm for both her daughter and herself, a small daisy charm that hands on a necklace around their necks. never to be taken off.

CONNECTIONS

beau proctor. the lovely neighbor. (+) goldie and beau live near each other in lower cardinal and quickly struck up a friendship. beau gifted goldie her first chicken and in the years that followed they've spent many a night bringing items from their respective gardens together and having a family dinner. beau is one of the people in town goldie feels closest to, and see's him almost as an older brother.

nate windsor. mr fix it. (+/-) goldie lives in a run down house that needs a lot of tlc, and she's finally at a point where she can try to start working on it to make it the home of her dreams. nate, being a contractor, was the obvious choice to help her through these projects. it also doesn't hurt that he's pretty to look at.

ori james. the one who gets mothered. (+) being a mother herself, it's not hard to become the mom friend of a group. and that's what's happened with ori. she's noticed they have a tendency to forget to hydrate or eat breakfast and goldie has sort of made it her job to always check in.

stemming from the infamous vetrov family oil fortune, being the youngest daughter of the vetrovs meant that caterina never had to want for anything in her life, but her mother wasn't just going to just let her sit around and do absolutely nothing.

with her brother going against the grain, living the life of a 'starving artist' as her mother liked to call it, caterina was forced from a very young age to parade by her parent's side, putting on the image of the perfect, dotting daughter who was incredibly bright and had so much going for her.

from etiquette classes, horseback riding, ballet and violin lessons, her parents enrolled her in everything that they could to make sure she learned how to be proper, but caterina wanted no part of it.

she hated the pretense, hated how phony and forced everything was and as she got older, began speaking up - making snarky comments when someone said someone pretentious or mocking those around her, which often resulted in a scolding from her parents. but while they had raised her to be elegant, they also managed to raise her to be tough, and caterina wasn't one to take shit from anyone.

it was her teenage years when she really almost put her parents into an early grave. sending her off to boarding school in london only made things so much worse. throwing wild parties in the dorms, sleeping around and purposely releasing footage of her doing drugs, drinking, and many other scandalous things meant her family had to reach deep into their pockets to keep all of her debauchery under wraps.

she barely passed school, only graduated because of her parents' hefty donation, and once she graduated and returned to the states, she didn't return to the vetrov family home and instead, ran off with the first guy who paid her any attention and had a whirlwind wedding in vegas.

naturally, once her parents caught wind, they made sure to have annulled right away, which caterina really didn't care about - she didn't love the man, she was just bored, and she was fairly certain she'd never have the capacity to love anything given her cold upbringing. but she wasn't going to sit around and wine about it, she was going to enjoy her life.

she continued to get herself into wild situations and scenarios - jet setting across the world, two more marriages and divorces and many other things that the family has invested insane amounts of money to keep underwraps.

she's a completely aloof and bored person - chasing temporary fixes and highs, but nothing truly interests her and she finds most things to be dull, uninteresting and terribly drab and boring.

she's blunt and crude to a fault, always saying whatever comes to mind and getting a little rush out of the shock that her words bring to people's faces.

Chuck - jail or dead ❤️

Blair - working her way up at Vogue & married to Dan

Serena - more and more I really like the idea of her being a film producer (in California for the record), I think she has a great skill set for it actually, and I also just love the idea of her being out of the spotlight but still adjacent, I think that really suits her. In terms of ships, I’d be happy with her ending up with Nate, Carter, or Vanessa

Nate - I think out of all them, he takes the longest to find himself. I really like the book!verse idea of him sailing around the world for a little bit. I also love the idea of him moving to California. And then I think he ultimately ends up working as a social worker/guidance counselor. And I’d be happy with him ending up with Serena or Vanessa. (I love bi!Nate but Dair is my forever endgame and Carter/Nate was just a wee bit too toxic to be endgame for me)

Dan - working as a novelist and New Yorker contributor (dair is THE Condé Nast power couple), married to Blair

Jenny - she’s the one who becomes the successful fashion designer (and does not work under the Waldorf’s thank you very much!). I like to think she makes amends and moves back to New York after college. I headcanon her as a lesbian and I don’t think she ends up with any of the other GG characters

Vanessa - well now I’m just going to plug my Vanessa fic lol which has my ideal ending for her, that she goes and becomes a successful filmmaker. If she ends up with anyone, I’d be happy with Nate or Serena, but also I’ve started to project on V a little bit and I like the idea of her devoting herself to her art and never marrying as well (very Jo March coded here imo)
