my first entry for @senshixshitennouweeks!
Rei x Jadeite Week - day 1: Pride
For this first prompt I give you art and a headcanon to go with it!
So I think that in the Silver Millennium, Jadeite had a very hard time trying and getting closer to Mars. Even in the midst of all the plans and efforts to strengthen the bond between the Moon and the Earth, while the Moon people and the senshi were generally welcoming of the Earth people and doing their best to promote good relations between the two Kingdoms, Mars would mantain an unfriendly and detached attitude towards them. She would refuse to interact with them in any way except for the bare minimum courtesy, even in formal circumstances—she wouldn't accept a dance at a party, she wouldn't make small talk during meetings etc. Just to remind them that the favour and friendship that was being extended to them weren't to be taken for granted. So Jadeite had to think about something less conventional to approach her. Lucky for him he's the Knight of Perseverance (and bad ideas) so he wasn't going to give up easily! :D
She was the Princess of Mars, so her domain was battle and war. He thus started to boast about his exceptional and unmatched fighting techniques whenever she was close by. Making sure to be extra pompous about it. Being the prideful warrior that she was, of course she took the bait. She had to teach this arrogant man from Earth a lesson. So she challenges him to show her his supposedly amazing fighting prowess, planning to thoroughly humiliate him and put him back in his place. They start sparring occasionally, and he finds out that she is in fact much more inclined to communication and to physical proximity in a fighting context. She is not completely unapproachable anymore. So he obviously uses these opportunities to try to impress her (which mostly fails—he's the one more and more impressed) but most of all to at least start a conversation (even if it's mostly snarky little banters at first) and of course to be a little flirty now and then.✨
I was planning to make a second piece from a different perspective so that the pose and dynamics of the scene would be clearer but couldn't make it. I was never fully happy with it and I didn't want to waste any more time on it and decided to just post this and be done with it. ;_; I'll just link the music video I used for reference so you can check it out to have a better idea (the fighting sequence is at around 2:40)!

R x J Week 2024 Day 5: Psychic
@senshixshitennouweeks late as can be but hopefully good
“That fortuneteller was full of crap!”
Rei fumed as she and Usagi left the tent of ‘Rani the Mysterious.’
“I don’t know,” Usagi said, pausing from inhaling the massive cotton candy she’d bought the moment they’d entered the carnival, “she told me I would marry young and live to old age with my sweetheart.”
The romantic wistfulness on her face melted into consternation.
“But then she said my first child would come before marriage.”
“Count yourself lucky,” Rei said, “that quack said that I would fall in love with someone I’ve already met, already hurt, been hurt by, and I wouldn’t know when I met them again.”
“In that order?”
Rei rolled her eyes.
“As if I would ever allow any of that to happen to me,” she said with a huff.
*
“That fortuneteller was full of crap!”
Kunzite looked up from the map of the carnival he held in his hands, his frown matching Jadeite’s.
“I don’t know why you even went in there,” he said, “you usually don’t go in for this sort of thing.”
Jadeite rolled his eyes.
“I lost a bet with Zoisite. I had to go to the next huckster I saw and let them ‘take me for a ride.”
“And that’s why we’re in disguise, in the middle of a carnival?”
Jadeite crossed his arms.
“If I didn’t hold up my end, I’d never hear the end of it. You know how Zoisite is.”
Kunzite sighed, then folded up the map and turned to go.
“I’ll have a talk with Zoisite,” he said.
Jadeite fell into step beside him.
“You better,” he replied, “that ‘Rani the Mysterious’ said that I would be dominated by a fiery woman.”
“She could have been talking about Beryl?”
Jadeite shook his head.
“Doubt it,” he said, “Beryl only gets pissed when someone screws up. Namely me.”
“If that’s the case, then it’s nothing to worry about.”
“Psychics,” Jadeite muttered, shoving his hands into his pockets, “I’ll never understand the appeal."

R x J Week Day 3: Shrine
@senshixshitennouweeks
Doing roof work was hardly in the purview of being a miko.
But then again, Rei wasn’t all that ready to let random strangers with power tools make shoddy workmanship decisions on her beloved shrine.
Which is what ultimately led to her standing on a ladder, nailing down loose shingles on the sacred fire’s building.
It was cost effective to do it herself anyway. And she’d be done in no time if it wasn’t for that damnable wind.
“You know, forecast says the wind is going to pick up another two kilometers today.”
Rei’s hammer halted just before it’s intended destination. She looked down over her shoulder at the young man who now stood at the ladder’s base, looking up at her with his hands in the pockets of a ratty old hoody.
“Well, I’ve still got three more shingles to fix,” Rei replied, “and no, I’m not calling a repairman.”
“It would go faster.” “And eat through our budget for the month.”
“I could always ask one of the others to help out.”
“You mean the peacock? Or the Midnight Stallion?”
“You’re never going to let that one rest, are you?”
“Anyone who tries to make that into their nickname is clearly—whoa!”
She probably shouldn’t have been leaning over that far. Not when the wind was blowing as hard as it was. Not while trying to talk to someone and fix the roof at the same time.
Unfortunately, as anyone except Rei would tell you, she could be exceptionally bullheaded. So really, she had no-one to blame but herself for falling from a latter at that moment. If she had been Sailor Mars at that moment, a fall like this would have been nothing, landing with cat like grace on the cobblestones without a second thought.
The thoughts of “where’s my transformation pen” evaporated though, when her fall was cushioned by a pair of strong, familiar arms.
“So, what have we learned?”
That smirk on his face and the errant curl that was hanging roguishly just above his eyes made her want to slap and kiss him in equal measure.
“Shut up and put me down,” she said, “you can call the rest of the clown troop later.”
Rei squirmed out of his grip (without waiting to see if he’d put her down) and headed back inside.
Soon, the shrine would be fixed and she could worry about other things. That’s all that mattered.

R x J Week 2024 Day 7: Recognition
@senshixshitennouweeks
"And 1st place goes to Ms. Rei Hino!"
She’d joined this competition on a whim. And maybe as a favor.
Minako, in her infinite wisdom, had gone and caught herself a summer cold (during one of her coquettish escapades) and had begged her friends to join the Miss Seaside pageant in her place.
Of course, College courses for the rest of the senshi had left them with little time to actually join a beauty pageant, which left Rei to take pity on Minako (or rather try to get her to stop pestering her) and enter.
She hadn't expect to *win* though. But here she was, bedecked in a tiara and a swimsuit being handed a sash and bouquet of roses.
It was almost too much.
***
“She asked you to what?”
Rei huffed at Jad and tossed another handful of seeds to Phobos and Deimos.
"Enter the Miss Seaside pageant for her and I won!"
"That's crazy," Jad said. He'd just returned from a "guys' brunch" and had yet to change into the robes he wore for working at the shrine.
"It's like something out of an anime!?" Rei replied.
"Well, I can't say I'm surprised you won."
Rei frowned.
"What do you mean by that."
"I mean, you are incredibly beautiful."
Rei flushed.
"Get changed and get to work," she grumbled.

C x H Week Day 1: Sweet
@senshixshitennouweeks
“What’s a six-letter word for ‘Sweet?”
Neo Queen Serenity looked up from her bowel of fruit loops to her husband, who was currently gazing at the open pages of the morning paper, taping a navy-blue pencil on the table top.
“What?”
King Endymion gestured at his paper with his pencil.
“The crossword. I need a six-letter word for sweet.”
“Are there any letters already filled in?”
“None.”
The queen pursed her lips, trying to recall her rather bumpy experiences in Middle School English Classes.
“Yummy?”
“That’s five letters.”
The queen pursed her lips in a pout.
“I’m making a law about crosswords,” she said, returning to her breakfast.
“Morning everyone.”
The royal princess, her bubblegum tresses a tangle, stepped into the kitchen still half asleep and in her Minky Momo pajamas. Chibiusa retrieved a bowl from the cabinet and took a seat at the table beside her mother.
“Morning, pumpkin,” the king greeted as his daughter poured herself some breakfast, “did you sleep well?”
“Pretty good,” Chibiusa said, "how are you today."
"Fine," her father replied, "just can't find a six-letter word for sweet."
Chibiusa yawned, sleep still in her system.
“Helios," she said tiredly.
The king paused, looking up from his paper to his daughter, who was currently staring at him with wide as she realized just what it was she had said. Meanwhile, The queen counted on her fingers.
“It fits,” she said.

R x J Week 2024 Day 1: Pride
@senshixshitennouweeks
Five days. Five whole days. One work week.
That was how long they’d been fighting.
Or at least, Usagi thought that Rei and Jad had been fighting. Really, she didn’t even know what the start of it was.
She’d heard second hand from Minako that the two had been shouting at one another early last week and that was all Usagi needed to know.
Which, unfortunately, meant she would have to ask one of them to get to the root of the problem. And from the way Jad had been kneading that dough for the past five minutes…
Usagi reached over and tapped him on the shoulder.
The scowl that met her called to mind the time when he had been under the control of the Dark Kingdom, but it quickly melted away when he realized just who it was.
“Usagi,” he said, surprise coloring his features, “I was expecting—what are you doing here?”
“Oh, I just wanted to say hi,” Usagi said, “You know, I was in the area.”
Jad frowned, returning to his previous task.
“In Rei’s kitchen?”
“I was… hungry…”
A pregnant pause stretched across the room, to the point where Usagi wanted to tug her own pigtails to relieve the tension.
“Well, lunch probably won’t be ready for about another hour,” Jad said, “so you’re in for a wait.”
“I’m fine with that.”
Anyone who knew Usagi would know she wouldn’t be fine with that. If she had truly been hungry, that is. She had, in fact, just come from an early lunch with Mamoru, which they had only had to fortify themselves for what they were currently doing.
Another pause, more tension. Probably best to rip the band aid off.
“So,” Usagi began, hands clasped behind her back, “how’s it going?”
“Fine.”
“You’re sure? No stomach problems, nothing too stressy going on?”
“Can’t think of anything.”
He didn’t even look up! Usagi fought down a pout.
“If anything was wrong, you’d tell one of us, right?”
“You mean like a certain someone refusing to apologize?”
Usagi wasn’t sure if this was progress, but hopefully it was.
“Maybe…”
Jad put plastic wrap over the dough he’d been working over and moved to another counter where a knife and vegetables waited for him.
“When Rei’s ready to apologize, she knows where to find me,” he said, dicing a red onion.
“But what if you apologized first?” Usagi asked, moving so she was just at Jad’s immediate left, “Then everything would be fine and none of our meetings would have any really weird tension…”
“I’m not apologizing when she’s the one at fault here.”
Usagi’s face fell. Plan A was a bust, it seemed.
“Can you at least talk to her? I know you care so much about each other and I hate seeing my friends fight.”
For a moment, Jad paused and Usagi thought she had a breakthrough. Instead, Jad returned to his task.
“Please!” Usagi said, “for me?”
Jad said nothing, focusing instead on his veggie slicing.
“Oh, come on! I know you heard me!”
Still, nothing.
“Vegetables aren’t that interesting!”
As if in answer, Jad moved to the fridge and removed a package of hamburger from it.
Usagi sighed and left the kitchen. Hopefully, Mamoru was having better luck with Rei.
+
“When Jad’s ready to apologize, he knows where to find me.”
Mamoru ran a frustrated hand through his hair. Rei had been holed up beside the sacred fire for every day since her apparent argument with Jad (At least according to the other senshi).
Mamoru could understand the desire for solitude after feeling hurt, but this felt ridiculous.
“Can you at least tell me what he did to make you so upset?”
“Why don’t you ask him?”
“What if he doesn’t know?”
Rei didn’t say anything after that, seemingly staring at the sacred fire.
Most people would have thought she was just haughtily ignoring him at that point.
Most people couldn’t feel human emotions like raindrops on their skin.
Anger, confusion, sadness, they all flickered from Rei like ashes. And for some reason, maybe it was psychic powers, maybe it was a gut feeling, but Mamoru knew Rei wouldn’t elaborate any further.
+
The two of them collapsed on the couch in Mamoru’s apartment. How a conversation with friends could be so draining was beyond either of them.
“So,” Usagi began, “how’s Rei?”
Mamoru sighed.
“Angry. Too proud to admit anything.”
Usagi’s frown deepened.
“And Jad’s the same way.”
Mamoru sighed. He should have expected. Those two really were made for each other.
“I hope he wasn’t too rude to you,” he said, putting his arm around Usagi's shoulder. She snuggled all the closer.
"He was a perfect gentleman... just like he is with Rei."
"I'm glad you're still optimistic about them."
"They'll work it out," Usagi said, "you'll see."

C x H Week 2024 Day 5: Time Travel
@senshixshitennouweeks super duper late but here it is. And it connects to my last CxH Terminator AU
Helios’s eyes cracked open. Not a sound. No gunfire, no whispers, no wind. No roar and clank of machine sentinels roving overhead for humans to sweep up and take to work camps.
For a moment, he wondered what was going on and then it all came rushing back to him.
The mission.
The trip.
The girl.
He wasn’t in his own time anymore. He’d never be in his own time again, the thought sinking over him like a weighted blanket.
As the grogginess of sleep left him, Helios became conscious of a warm, not unpleasant weight that rested on his chest.
A mass of thick bubblegum colored hair met his golden gaze and the previous night came crashing back into him.
He and his charge, the lovely Chibiusa, had performed the most intimate of actions that night. It hadn’t been planned. The weight of the mission had gotten to both of them and Chibiusa had requested he hold her.
Maybe it was the feeling of her (admittedly) curvy figure against him or the featherweight noises she made as he kissed every bit of exposed warm skin he could reach from her hairline down to the swell of her chest and further still.
“Helios?”
He hadn't even moved, hadn't made a sound, but still she had woken up and was now looking up at him with those ruby red eyes that moved something deep within his soul. Helios tightened his arms around her.
“I’m right here,” he said.
Chibiusa planted a kiss on his chin and rested her head back onto his chest. For a while, neither of them spoke, and Helios focused on her breathing. She was here, alive, and as long as that was the case his mission was successful.
Finally, Chibiusa broke the silence.
“What's it like when you go through time?"
Helios closed his eyes and tried to think of a way to articulate it. Articulate. That was a word he didn’t even know he knew, he almost chuckled.
“White light,” he finally said, "Pain.”
But neither of those seemed right. When he'd travelled backwards through time, his senses had been almost useless, unable to comprehend the information they were exposed through in that not-quite laser light show, not quite bad drug trip that he had been tossed end over end through, before finally landing on the hard concrete of an alleyway.
“It's like being born, maybe.”
As if sensing his unease, Chibiusa began a trail of kisses across his torso and down, her hand caressing him to help him forget the experience of time travel.

R x J Week Day 4: Energy
@senshixshitennouweeks
He collapsed on the bed, spent and panting, sweat sticking his hair to his brow.
“That,” Jad said, “was… that was more intense than usual.”
From the corner of his eye, he beheld Rei’s silhouette, the slender curve of her body as she sat up in bed, seemingly deep in thought. Normally, such an image would drum up memories of their previous life, of stolen moments between them on nights like this one, before the fall of Silver Millennium. Strangely, though, Rei had said very little during the act of lovemaking, not even really announcing her intentions when she first walked in.
A delicate, warm hand came to rest on his chest.
"Again," she said simply.
Jad's eyebrows rose.
"Really?"
"Yes."
No further word came from her as she pulled him towards her and kissed him deeply.
They'd already done the deed twice now and she gave no indication that she would run out of energy.
Something was wrong. But he'd have to wait to ask her.

R x J Week 2024 Day 2: Burn
@senshixshitennouweeks
She should be loyal.
To her princess, her friends, her mission.
And she hates herself.
Because she burns.
For *him* of all people!
Rei’s hands ghosted across the curves of her torso, and she frowned. His hands would no doubt be bigger than her’s.
Stop.
None of that.
She’s taking care of urges. No different than eating or going to the bathroom.
That’s it.
A shaky breath escaped Rei as her fingers teased her entrance.
Her eyes slide closed and she hates what her mind conjures.
Her fingers tangling in the golden curls of his hair.
The timbre of his voice against her throat.
His skin against hers.
Damn him.
Damn herself.
And still she burns.

A x Z Week 2024 Day 1: Bubbles
@senshixshitennouweeks
This was crazy.
Of course, this was Zoisite they were talking about, so eccentricity came easy for him.
Case in point: Ami could barely see him through the water, but soon warm hands gently held her face and somehow, she knew he was smiling. Warm lips touched her’s, bubbles floated up from between them and she wasn’t just floating because she was underwater.

C x H Week 2024 Day 3: Slumber
@senshixshitennouweeks
She was so beautiful in the throes of slumber.
He'd met her in her youth, when she had been but a beaming little girl, sweet and selfless towards a poor trapped horse.
Now, she had grown into her title of princess.
The curves of her slender body, the pallor of her skin, the shimmer of her rosy hair in the moonlight.
And her dreams.
Oh, her dreams!
Sunsets dancing into starry night skies, trees with abundant vibrant fruits of every shape and size, sugary sweets and nothing but joy. If he could run through those dreams every night, he would.
If he could hear her laughter, watch these dreams form like planets out of the cosmic dust of her memories for hours on end, he would.
But it wasn’t to be.
Helios had sworn an oath to the royal family of the Earth that his first and foremost duty to the safety of the Golden Crystal and to its protectors.
Lady Serenity would remain far away from him, even now that she was a young woman.
Helios turned and left the beauty to her slumber, trying not to think about her for the rest of the night.

C x H Week 2024 Day 2: Future
@senshixshitennouweeks
This shouldn’t be happening. Couldn’t be happening.
This morning, Chibiusa had been a starving artist, trying to meet the deadline for what would have been her first published story (ever).
Only for some goon in army fatigues to drive a truck into her workplace and try to shoot her. It was like something out of a movie.
Especially the part when another person, a lanky cotton topped man she didn’t know, shot her attacker and dragged her into a nearby car.
Now, they were disregarding traffic laws all while he babbled intensely at her.
“All right, listen,” he said, “The Terminator's an infiltration unit: part man, part machine.”
Her “rescuer” swerved left, bumping harshly over a curb and
“Underneath, it's a hyperalloy combat chassis, microprocessor-controlled. Fully armored; very tough. But outside, it's living human tissue.”
Another swerve.
“Flesh, skin, hair, blood - grown for the cyborgs.
This was insane. Maybe if she reasoned with him, Chibiusa could get this man to pull over and let her go.
“Look, I don't know what you want from...”
“Pay attention!”
He didn’t sound angry; more just… scared.
“We have to ditch this car,” he said, his eyes returning to the road.
Five minutes later, the car darkened. From the concrete and other vehicles surrounding them, it seemed that they had just turned into a parking garage. The man pulled them in between a Humvee and a panel van. He roughly grabbed her shoulder and pushed the two of them down so they were beneath the line of the window.
Only then, did the tension the young man held seemed to release. He seemed to sink back into the seat, eyes closed. For a moment, Chibiusa wondered if he was asleep, before he startled her when he spoke again.
“The 600 series had rubber skin. We spotted them easy, but these are new. They look human... sweat, bad breath, everything. Very hard to spot. I had to wait till he moved on you before I could zero him.”
Zero him? What did that even mean? Forget reasoning, she thought, this guy can go climb a tree.
“I am not stupid,” she said, mustering as much steel as she could into her voice, “They cannot make things like that yet.
The man turned his head towards her, golden eyes sleepy but entirely focused.
“Not yet,” he said, “not for about 40 years.”
“Are you saying it's from the future?”
He turned his head away, closing his eyes again.
“One possible future. From your point of view. I… don't know tech stuff.”
“Then you're from the future, too. Is that right?”
The man nodded, his eyes still closed. For a moment, Chibiusa wondered which lunatic asylum this man had escaped from. Then she wondered if it was all true; if the shooter was some kind of future robot, that this man was a time traveler and why her of all people was caught between them.
Then she realized she had yet to ask one of the most basic of all questions.
“What’s your name?”
The man's eyes fluttered open.
“What?”
“Your name?” she repeated.
With a tenderness she didn't understand, the man's gaze met her own.
“Helios," he said.
