Now, I have to admit, this piece was inspired by another artist whose work I admire. A while back, I came across an artwork by CharlieExe, a fan art of one of my favourite cartoons. It caught my eye immediately. The character’s joyful expression, the lively posture, and the whole atmosphere of the piece resonated with me. Then, I noticed that others were using this artwork as a base or reference for their pieces. Some artists had taken CharlieExe’s work and transformed it into their own, each bringing something unique to the table. That’s when it hit me: why not try my take on it? Why not create something inspired by that posture but with my character Liliana as the centrepiece?

This was no small task. The biggest challenge for me was drawing the body in perspective, something I’ve been working on improving in my recent pieces. Perspective adds an entirely new layer of complexity to a drawing. When a character’s body is in motion, and you’re trying to capture that movement from a certain angle, it requires careful attention to proportion, foreshortening, and the way the body interacts with the environment around it. I knew this would be tough, but I was eager to push myself, to see if I could meet this challenge and come out on the other side with something I was proud of.

Liliana’s body is positioned in such a way that it feels dynamic yet graceful. She’s not standing still; she’s in motion, and capturing that fluidity was essential. Known for her striking appearance and captivating personality, Lum has become a beloved figure in the anime community. In my artwork, I aimed to capture her essence, focusing on the details that make her so unique. However, her journey was not without obstacles. Eriko’s uncle, who became her guardian after the accident, harboured a deep resentment towards her. Jealous of her father’s success and determined to destroy her career, he schemed and plotted against her at every turn. But Eriko, with her unwavering determination and love for music, refused to be defeated. She faced each challenge head-on, her voice growing stronger with each performance, her resolve hardening with each setback. In time, she won the hearts of people all over Japan, becoming a beloved idol.

As I created this artwork, I couldn’t help but reflect on my journey. Like Eriko, I’ve faced challenges and setbacks in my life. There have been times when I’ve doubted myself when the path forward seemed too difficult to navigate. But, like her, I’ve found strength in my passion—in my case, for art.
