Tales from the Corps by Mithril_and_Acorns- Top Tier series 1000/10 love this series and will re-read many times. very cute and perfect if you love fics with baby/initiate age Obi-Wan

Strangers Like Me by K_R_Closson - Pretty sure this is the fic that introduced me to the Mando's adopt Obi-Wan scenario. Also I think my secondary favorite Star Wars scenario is Mando's coming in to help fix the horror show that is Melida/Dann

And Back We Go by miyaji_o8 - holy shit balls! now I usually cap out around 80,000 words so the fact that this one is 129,403 should really tell you how much I loved this one. Perfect if you like long fics, love the clones, and love mando adoption of Obi. This is a time travel fix-it and directly deals with the Sith plot.

Senatorial missteps and mandalorian mishaps by S_C_G - very cute, again perfect for people who like fics featuring a initiate age Obi-Wan. Jedi leaving the core for their new besties the Mandalorians because the Senate Fucked up.

Mand'alor the Reformer by Halter, Runeb19 - another one for if you like the mando adopting Obi trop and also like Obi experiencing and dealing with the trauma that is the Melida/Dann mission

Kir'manir - Or How Myles Became a Teen Dad! by Mithril_and_Acors - actual baby Obi-Wan getting adopted by Myles the Mandalorian. Perfect fluffy fic for when you want Obi to experience a loving family with the Mando's but don't want to dive into how this would affect his relationship/connection with the Jedi (because he is literally a baby and doesn't really show off his force use to anyone so one makes the connection between this random kid and the jedi).

One Step Forward, Two Steps Back by K_R_Closson - this one really stands out because instead of Jaster or Jango being the one to adopt Obi-Wan it's Din Djarin due to some fun force/time-travel shenanigans. The Din Djarin/Shmi Skywalker pairing is a little weird but makes total sense within the story (its also very minor and really only happens at the end so there's not a huge impact on the overall storyline).

I have decided that my favorite Star Wars fics are the ones that have a young/padawan Obiwan getting adopted by Mandalorians and then after the Mando’s realize what a mess he is that some of that messiness is because the Jedi as a whole are a mess which then results in the Mando’s kidnapping/adopting the whole Jedi Order

It doesn’t even have to address the whole Sith plot going on behind the scenes but when it does!!!!💯💯💯

Families requesting to visit relatives is not exactly unheard of, although not nearly as common as the worst rumors about the Jedi imply.

It’s just, usually that’s parents, sometimes with a sibling in tow. There are policies in place, lines to fall back on.

Perhaps they should have realized Initiate Kenobi made an impression.

And friends, apparently, tiny little Mandalorian friends.

Tiny little Mandalorian friends gearing up to fight him over visitation rights.

He sighs, mourning the lovely tea he had planned with his padawan.

A preview from the second to last chapter of a risky scheme from my senatorial missteps and mandalorian mishaps series. Jaster talks to the Trade Federation again.

Lott Dod takes a breath and steps forward. “Mand’alor Mereel, you have a truly impressive city.” He begins. Jaster resists the urge to sigh. He much prefers his council meetings to this blatant flattery. He should remember that the next time Clan Vizsla’s head calls him a fool and an idiot for the crime of agreeing with Clan Kryze on some minor issue.  They would never call Keldabe an impressive city, they would certainly never call it his.

Six Sentence Sunday

This is from pretty far into the next update of senatorial missteps and mandalorian mishaps and it's also the only thing I can come up with at the moment that doesn't spoil the characters I'm introducing.

“Jaster.” A memory springs to mind of a much younger Arla, literally digging in her heels and jutting out her chin and insisting that she would have her way. It shouldn’t have been that cute on a young teenager but… they do say that a parent never quite loses their memory for how precious and small their child used to be. Even if, as in Jaster’s case, he never knew Arla as a true child. “Arla.” He returns, a small amused smile tugging at his lips.

I’ve run out of one shots to promote on Sundays so I’m moving on to my WIPs! It’s another senatorial missteps and mandalorian mishaps! We have the Jedi’s confrontation with the Senate to look forward to!

For some, their conditions are terrible, nearly unbearable.

For others, their lives continue in stability, if not comfort.

For yet others, the status quo suits them very well.

There is nothing to be done regardless.

The Senate is corrupt and there is snow on the mountains of Alderaan.

It is in their nature.

Trivia Tuesday

Hey! I have a lot of background worldbuilding for my senatorial missteps and mandalorian mishaps AU tormenting my brain! Today’s background worldbuilding is Stewjon!

Is Obi-Wan Mandalorian by way of Stewjon in this series?

The reason given in an ill-advised gift for Obi-Wan being chosen specifically is that he’s from Stewjon. A planet the Senate heavily implies is in Mandalorian space. So, is Stewjon Mandalorian?

Short Answer: No.

Long Answer: Also no and even if it was Obi-Wan wouldn’t be Mandalorian because that’s more or less cultural and religious, not blood based. In the literal text of the story Jaster clearly has no idea why Stewjon would be relevant when Obi-Wan brings it up as the reason for his being chosen. However, the Senate has reasons for thinking it. 

Now for the background worldbuilding of why! The misunderstanding here comes from the fact Stewjon in this AU is isolated on the other side of Mandalorian space. Most maps I’ve found have a hyperlane to Mandalore’s west, this means that nearly all traffic in and out is going a specific direction. Now, I have no intention of following any galactic maps but in this case I am abiding by the specific idea of a hyperlane to the west. Stewjon is to Mandalore’s northeast and doesn’t really have exports or imports that would draw anyone over. People vaguely know it’s over there so it would make sense it’s part of Mandalore right? Wrong. Mandalore tried it once several thousand years ago and it didn’t take. Stewjon went full we are going to make you regret that if it’s the last thing we do. Barely held the planet two years before the Republic/Sith/Jedi/Whoever started winning enough they had to cut their losses and bail.

Mandalore straight up barely remembers staking claim to Stewjon at all, even a history nerd like Jaster doesn’t make the connection. Stewjon remembers and will fight literally anyone over it. Outside the system most people figure it’s probably some sort of backwater protectorate or colony. It is not.

I'm working on another senatorial missteps and mandalorian mishaps. I love being able to focus on different characters with this series and play around with slightly different tones and genres depending on the part I'm writing. This time we're going for some political intrigue and satisfying some of my recent desire to write an adult padawan living their best life and being competent.

Adi Gallia is learning Mando’a as fast as she can, through datapads and immersion and sheer force of will. Coruscant is gone and her dreams of an intelligence network spanning the planet are gone with it. Mandalore is new and uncertain and surprisingly kind and her plans will adjust to it. Adi spent a long time uncertain of her path forward as a Knight. She is certain now. The pursuit of knowledge will be her future, not as an archivist but as a diplomat.

He gestures and three Tholothian children step forward and stare, unblinkingly, up at Mace.

“Uh…” Myles places a hand on one of their heads and gently tips their head back so he can see their face better. “So, this one’s Haat…” He mutters something suspiciously close to probably under his breath and moves to the next child. “Ijaa and… that makes you… Haa’it.” Haa’it sticks their tongue out at him and he sighs.

“Traditionalists, honestly.” Ijaa kicks him in the shin, Haat says something probably meant to be insulting. “Knock that off, you wanted to come.”

The Temple is her home. She is not mistaken in thinking she might never see it again. Jocasta Nu is a Jedi, she will do what she must. Coruscant is a place, like so many others. It is not the end. But… it is an end.

Another preview of my upcoming update to senatorial missteps and mandalorian mishaps. Someone's made their way to Mandalore and Adi's got a mission.

Silas whispers tips and instructions as they walk. Where to go, what to say, how to hide but Adi is not worried. The Force will guide her. She only has to trust. She takes a deep breath outside the chamber and nods to Silas that she is ready. Mandalorians do not bow, instead Adi inclines her head slightly in the way she has observed is common.  “Welcome to Mandalore.” She says. “May your stay be fruitful.”
