aka he hasn‘t slept in 72 hours and while every corrie understands why, that doesn’t mean they have to like it. plus, he already has borderline braindamage from not getting more than five hours’ sleep a night the whole duration of the war, and all the strange injuries and electrostaff burns he keeps showing up with, stabby the clone medic reasons. also bone density is a concern with the half-rations the guard is consistently on, so really this is all a very reasonable emergency measure, he says and cuffs fox to a cot.

yes of course, meathook and rabid nod, who pounced on the commander and pinned him for stabby and his sedation hypo the second he came through the door. very reasonable.

hnngfnhfjfj, fox grunts in the corner, already halfway to insensate. thorn, who knows better than to protest lest he become the next target of stabby’s ire, nods along while switching to fox’s armour.

which is also how palpatine gets himself caught, because of course ‘cc-1010’ activates exactly nothing in thorn’s brain except maybe alarm bells for rancid kriffing vibes, and by the time the chancellor orders him to switch off his blaster’s stun setting and terminate the ���faulty unit’ at all costs, he’s already recording the interaction and sending it as an attachment to the whole guard command staff as well as the jedi temple.

An idea came to me in a vision. Anyway, Steve was a homeless guy Fox hired to pretend to be a senator to get (secret) representation in the senate. It worked a little too well and he got elected as chancellor after Fox beat bpalpatine to death with his helmet. They also con people together and they just got back from a job.

“This matter should be resolved as soon as we speak to the new Chancellor,” said Obi-Wan.

“Of course sir,” replied Cody, opening the door to the chancellor’s office for him.

“I like rats actually. I think they’re underrated,” said Fox as he threw a foam stress ball across the office to Supreme Chancellor Steve. Fox was wearing an old hoodie and covered head to toe in soot and ash.

“Eh, it’s a hit or miss for me,” said Steve, catching it and throwing the ball back. “Humans can’t eat raw mammals and the ones near chemical plants are always a gamble.” Steve was dressed for a disco rave. He even had roller skates.

“Have you ever been to Grilled Rat Thursday down at the old glass factory?” asked Fox, gesturing with the ball before throwing it back.

“Nah, I try to avoid Shak’s territory.”

“Maybe stop trying to steal his safe then. Anyways, Den hires kids to catch live rats around his factory and every Thursday when they fire up the big furnace he breaks out a grill and gives out free grilled rat. You get double if you bring spices,” Fox said, because that was a completely normal thing to know.

Ok some thoughts about senator Maul AU because I keep thinking about it

Palpatine never finds an apprentice in this AU, so he ends up not being such a huge threat

The events of Phantom Menace only kinda happened - Naboo was attacked by the Trade Federation, but there was no Sith to pursue them and kill Qui-Gon, so things got resolved much more easily

Qui-Gon lives, so he gets to train Anakin, and Dooku doesn't get tempted by the dark side

I think Dooku still quits the Jedi Order, but this time it's because he feels like he could do more good as a politician than as a jedi. He keeps a good relationship with the Jedi Order and the Republic and doesn't become a separatist

Every time he's in Coruscant he visits Qui-Gon and Anakin (and Obi-Wan) and chats with them over a nice lunch, which is good because it gives Anakin a politician role model that isn't Palpatine, and a better perspective of his options - he can leave the Order if he finds a new purpose, it's not a betrayal or a failure

Maul was raised in Dathomir so he's not a sith murder machine, but since he's such a powerful Force-senstitive he was raised closer to his mother and the Nightsisters than to his brothers and the Nightbrothers

(Savage and Feral are alive and happy btw. They visit Maul in Coruscant sometimes. I think he might also have one or two sisters because why not)

He still doesn't like Jedi but it's like. He doesn't want to kill them, he just thinks they're way too limiting and self-righteous. Like how Obi-Wan doesn't like politicians

He rarely makes speeches on the senate, so hearing him speak is a rare treat

Picture holonet social media hornyposting under every clip of him speaking because he has a very sexy voice

His outfits are also pretty daring (read: sexy) compared to most (male) senators. The entire Dathomir delegation dresses pretty similarly, but he gets the most attention

Maul vs Padmé who wore it better type posts

He and Padmé have this weird kinda-rivalry because they're very opposite in a lot of ways, but they still vote on the same side in a lot of topics since they both have a very "I am doing this for my people" mentality

He also absolutely hates Palpatine because he gets extremely rotten vibes from him (he's more attuned to the dark side than the Jedi so he probably Feels Palpatine's dark side vibes better than the Jedi. He Feels Palpatine is Bad)

When/if the Jedi Order ever finds out Palpatine is a sith he will be very unsurprised

Ventress is a representative and Maul's "apprentice", learning the Senate life from him

I'm making her younger than her "canon" age here (by about 10ish years) because it makes more sense to me and because giving Maul a government-assigned baby sister is funny

From what we see in the movies each world seems to only have one senator but I want the Dathomir delegation to have at least two because I think it's more fitting (and realistic, every world needs more than one senator what the fuck)

I think it would be funny if Maul swears he's gonna quit soon and Ventress will take his place in the senate but then the other senator retires first and makes Ventress her successor so Maul has to stay a senator for longer. He just wants to get out of this fucking planet

On the Jedi side of this AU I think Anakin grows into a much more disciplined jedi because Qui-Gon the rules bender would definitely stay in contact with Shmi so Anakin's anxieties regarding his mom will be more controlled, and they would be contacted immediately when she gets kidnapped by the tuskens so they save her faster and she doesn't die and neither do the tuskens and everything is fine

Plus Anakin gets to know his new family better and have a brother and add a new dad to his collection <3

Maybe Obi-Wan gets Ahsoka as a padawan this time, so she can have a master who actually wants to teach, and also be kinda-siblings with Anakin and cause chaos with him while Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan aren't looking

The Separatists never really take off, so the clone wars never happen, but I think the attacks on senators that were happening at the start of AotC still happen because I think it's fun to have drama and have Jedi escorts assigned to senators (read: good excuse to set up an obimaul and allow the anidala plot to happen)

I want Maul to be miserable wet cats with Obi-Wan on Kamino so I am allowing the clones to exist. Purely for comedic plot opportunity. And because I love clones so I want them to exist

But I think this time they only made a single batch of like 10-100 clones and were waiting for the Jedi to get back to them with approval to make more

Maul sees this and goes "Absolutely the fuck NOT" so no more clones are made after those. Sad!

With Maul there to help the Jango fight is much more successful (and 50% less humiliating on Obi-Wan's side) so they capture him and no one has to die

Sidious had to hire Jango this time since I am not letting him have an apprentice, so Jango is like "I was hired by some old weirdo in a cloak who called himself Darth Sidious who sounded and looked a lot like the chancellor from Naboo" and Maul feels so fucking vindicated that YES the bad vibes he gets from Palpatine were correct can we PLEASE kill him now

Jango gets arrested and maybe he makes a deal to work under the Jedi instead of staying in jail so he can take care of Boba instead of leaving him to his own luck

Boba being raised with Jedi younglings while Jango is busy offworld....

The clones also become part of the Jedi Order so they can help Jedi with peacekeeping and defense and stuff

Palpatine gets found out and arrested and/or killed by the Jedi and everyone else gets to live happily ever after. Eventually.

procrastinating school work so let me talk about my starwars (Anakin) aus

There's that lion!Vader Au, if I named it I don't remember the name but basically, either Anakin doesn't tell Padme where he's going or she doesn't go to Mustafar. might actually have R2D2 with Padme as her bodyguard or Anakin just didn't want r2 to know what he did to the separatist leaders. anakin doesn't come back from Mustafar because when he leaves the planet, the force decides 'okay, enough atrocities for the next... two decades.' and transforms him into a lion and sends him to a green planet. Sidious finds him a year later and decides to just build a gladiator ring and throw him in there to execute the people he wants dead on television.

19 years later Luke, Leia, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, Padme, Cody, and Rex all get captured and are sentenced to be executed as a group with some other non-important people. Anakin eats the non-important people and vaguely recognizes some but tries to kill Luke and Leia because he doesn't recognize them.

SITS au - sith in the senate au - me trying to explore my favorite arc (mortis) and what would have happened if Anakin left with the son (and the daughter) and the father let Ahsoka and Obi-wan go thirty minutes later but Anakin is nowhere in sight when they go back to the real world. this is also the au where the Tusken massacre is really addressed in this au, in others it didn't happen, obviously in lion!vader it did since it only changes in rots. i don't know if it's really a character study that I'm doing for this au but I'm actually writing an essay on Anakin for my writing class and I'm so using elements from this for that and from that for this.

Anyway, Palpatine finds Anakin at like... 5 and adopts him and brings him on his path to becoming chancellor and then the clone wars start at the Naboo blockade, Palpatine started cloning **early**. no, I have no idea how old Jango Fett is, why do you ask? anakin befriends some of the clones and takes an interest in politics because he thinks he can convince then senate to stop creating clones and just recruit normal civilians to the army.

this au is inspired by Hazbin Hotel song 'you didn't know' and some brave group of clones tries to plead their case to the senate, ankin watches in on it, nala se mentions the chips in the kaminoan rebuttal of clone rights and Anakin FREAKS. palpatine tries to calm him saying 'they are to control them, they're dangerous otherwise' and basically dooms himself. also, Anakin specifically has wings. see, I subscribe to the thinking of 'Anakin can shapeshift due to his unstable DNA' Edit: I Found it! @thewildballyntynesgrow or mballyntyne on Ao3 with their series 'A Wild Thing to Tame'. Anakin leaves taking a majority of the coruscant guard with him and goes back to Tatooine and starts freeing a whole bunch of planets over the years. the meeting in the senate takes place when he is fourteen, the empire starts when he is seventeen. Anakin adopts Boba and Galen Marek. anakin and the freed outer rim either hide rebel bases or use their revolutions as distractions for the empire.

Retconned rebel Anakin Au. aka, Barriss is the same age as Anakin and befriends him and Ferus eventually befriends him, and Anakin is closer to those two and some others than Obi-wan and Ahsoka (who is Obi-wan's padawan) Barriss never bombs the temple, the empire rises but the original empire dies like a year into the reign and another emperor rises.... Emperor Obi-wan Kenobi and his daughter Ahsoka how are both overly attached to rebel leader Anakin Skywalker and are both trying to adopt him and turn him to their side... by kidnapping Anakin's family. (rexanidala). anakin adopts so many kids, most of them are force-sensitive and want to fight so he lets them reluctantly but those not young enough to choose or fight are sent to live with Rex, Padme, Luke, Leia, and their grandparents; Dooku and Plo.

Ventress and Anakin Swap au, sort of. anakin got nabbed from his mom by Dooku. Dooku never found Ventress, Obi-wan does instead. Obi does not train Ventress but they are friends forever after. ventress tries forcefully redeeming the seventeen-eighteen year old Sith lord and it only sort of works. he defects but really only after he finds out about the slavery in creating battle droids. Anakin isn't really a separatist general, he just has a specialized group of droids that he rebuilds after fights with Jedi. he never fights clones with droids.

after defecting Anakin plans with Ventress and decides to free the outer rim then take the former slaves that will join him and start up a third party to the war. inspired by 'blood oath' by the art of pleasing princes.

okay so for this next au, named Anakin Umakkar, The rain storm. sources are ADragonsFriend and @fialleril or fialleril on a03, and @clawedandcute or ClawedandCute (Adi_Fire) on a03. and songs this au is inspired by for this au is (and in order) Puppeteer, Done For, Hell is Forever, There are Other Ways, What Did I Miss? and Respectless.

Umakkar was a name I first read about in a book called 'Elder sisters' by ADragonsFriend. I first heard about Ekkreth in Fialleril's books. the concept of Anakin staying on Tatooine was inspired by ClawedandCute's book and au 'The Accidental Sith'

Anyway, Qui-gon and the queen's ship never stops on Tatooine, but the clone wars do not start early. a solid two months into the Clone Wars, it is revealed that Jabba the Hutt has been dead for a year, and Tatooine has freed itself from the huts. Senator Padme Amidala and Jedi Obi-wan Kenobi (and Padawan Ahsoka Tano) are sent to Tatooine to try to get Tatooine to align with the republic. now please listen to Puppeteer and Done For (no, Anakin does not turn any clones into pigs, just like any non-clone serving in the army ). once Obi-wan draws his lightsaber on Anakin, Anakin just swipes it away, unhurt, and has him and other... three (Cody, Padme, and Ahsoka)locked up until he decided to hear them out. (cue hell is forever, the last lines being, "the freed outer rim has found both the separatists and the republic to be the enemy" ya know due to their armies) then when it looks like Anakin is gonna do something to them to send a message to the republic, Obi-wan pleads with him and mentions the Sith Dooku mentioned and any evil smile on Anakin's face slips away into annoyance "Sidious, huh?" and in 'There are other ways' fashion tells obi-wan about Mortis and other wells in the force that might be better for the Jedi to focus at. when asked why he had that reaction to the 'Sidious' character, he implies that Sidious has reached out to him to join either side of the war, like once per side.

he sends Obi-Wan and the Clones that want to return on their way and a year later decides that enough is enough and heads to Coruscant under the pretense of negotiating. palpatine sets up a committee to welcome Tatooine to the republic only for 'respectless' to happen and Anakin starts arguing with Orn Free Taa, then Palpatine himself and once Palpatine leaves, turns to the Jedi in the room and says "yeah, you might want to look into that..." and leaves.

Detached Mortis god au: inspired by the ocean saga

switching up the timeline here, Rako Hardeen happens, the Wrong Jedi arc happens, *Then* mortis happens. Anakin is alone on Mortis, he decides to stay, Padme is pregnant, the empire rises, Padme survives and joins the rebellion, Ahsoka becomes Fulcrum. Obi-wan joins the rebellion to help train Luke and Leia. Luke, Leia, Han, Ezra and some others start on a mission, but it starts off rough. Ezra decides to pray to a Force Diety he or Ahsoka met once and the diety appears and decides to grant them safe passage to the actual start of the mission as long as they keep Ahsoka, who they meet up with later on the mission, safe. if they accept and fail, another god is going to have a really big problem with them. they accept and all goes well until the last day of the mission, everything falls apart and Ahsoka is separated from the group and captured. the gang decides they need to go back to base to think and plan. on their way back their ship is seemingly attacked but they cant tell by what, they crash land at base and get out of the ship, not the falcon, only to meet two dragon-like-creatures, and a portal opens and a very pissed Anakin steps out. he kidnaps a bunch of rebels and puts them in the world between worlds and tells them they only get their people back when Ahsoka is safe. Obi-Wan and Padme only make it to the hangar this goes down once Anakin has stepped back through the portal.

I just spent my entire afternoon going through you SSK AU and i was very confused when i realized i was all caught up and there wasn't any other post to read...

Also SSK!Anakin would be so offended that canon!Obi Wan who was switched with his Obi Wan isn't giving him all of his attention. Meanwhile Canon! Anakin is trying so hard not to die because his master is being so affectionate ?? And he's complimenting him ?? And he gets this very hungry look when he calls him Master now ?? He's not sure if he wants it to stop because he's one (1) compliment away from self combustion but also Obi Wan is calling him 'My Dear' and brushing his hand against his and also petting his hair AND THERE'S THIS ONE TIME HE GENTLY STROKE HIS CHEEK

Strangely, I got a notification from two years ago yesterday about an SSK post for absolutely no reason and that reminded me that I never finished cleaning the SSK draft to post it on ao3 😶 Maybe 2023 will be the year!

but yes, the combined SSK AU and canon is so goooood, canon Anakin would end up eating out of the palm of SSK's hand in less than two days, SSK would only have to say "my darling, would you like to join the dark side with me?" and Anakin's brain would make very loud static noise after 'darling' and dreamily reply "of course Master" and that would be it, SSK would win with a little pat on his shoulder and a "come along, then."

Meanwhile SSK!Anakin is absolutely desperate for any kind of attention, basically lying down on Obi-Wan's desk and pushing all the things on it, like "what do you mean you can't divert me because you have a job and responsibilities? you've never cared for anything but ME before!"

It's Obikin AU time!

Obikin AU, in which Senator Obi-Wan Kenobi, elected representative of Stewjon, attends the annual Coruscantian celebration. As a man of morals, austere towards himself and true to his own word, this reimaging of the Cult of Dionysus, a festival of open sensuality, gluttony and decadence during the on raging Clone War is against his morals. The upper class of the inner Rim enjoys themselves, polygamy, wine, and women while other people in Galaxy suffer. He wants to end it and not be part of it. But sent as political representative, and more so pressured by his consultants, he attends the salon.

There, he is overwhelmed by the scent of his future lover, losing himself in a haze of drunkenness and love.

Senator Obi-Wan Kenobi loathed festivals of all sorts, often just celebrated to imitate something else or to grant people the chance to lose themselves in drugs, intercourse, and gluttony. The senate, novelty, business elites, and every man who carried fortune and a mighty name were invited. The event had become a networking opportunity to mingle with the upper class of the Inner Rim, originally designed to fund a political campaign for pacifism, how ironic during a war, but whatever was left of this goal, was nowhere to be found.

The Entrée was an open square leading to a columned hall, imitating the stoa poikile of Athens. Although the carnal pleasure of life as they were celebrated there, spoke more to hedonism than stoicism. Stoa poikile had become a name with a scornful undertone. 

It was a feast of desires, paid love available with one beckon of the hand or a wink, lightly dressed Twi leks sitting on people’s laps. No manners as they were promised by their highborn status were holding the guests back to enjoy themselves, coitus, and Kaiburr crystal drinks. 

“Tedious.”, Obi-Wan scoffed, scrunching his nose, rubbing over his temples, cautious to not come in touch with the artwork that was placed on his head. Expensive for no reason and only worn to show off. His entire attire was selected by his consultants. 

His curls had been elaborately shaped with gel; the rest had been sprinkled with copper powder to emphasize the reddish color of his hair. The whole thing was crowned by a laurel wreath that stood on his head, symbolizing him as some victor. Otherwise, his clothes were kept simple, a beige robe tailored in the style of the ancient Greeks and leather sandals. His advisors had made him look like a Greek demigod, the light fabric playing around his upper arms and exposing a piece of skin from his chest and right shoulder.

He leaned against one of the pillars, took a sip from his drink, and tried to let the intoxication of the feast sink in, to forget the raging moral priest in his mind. The whole decadence of the upper class spread out before him, carved in marble like an ancient fresco. But instead of depicting warhorses, foot soldiers, and sharpened spears, a feast of Dionysus, reimagined, blossomed on the steps of the columned hall. 

Freshly picked figs had been set up in woven wicker baskets, sweet pastries dripping with syrup in colorful ceramic bowls and bread dipped in wine on decorated plates. Each piece of pottery was a work of art for itself, crafted by the most skilled hands of all Coruscant and yet it was treated like dirt here. The guests wolfed down the delicacies and stuffed their mouths and stomachs. Then they turned to the scantily clad figures on their laps, young men or women, youths who had just reached manhood, kissed their exposed skin, tore the silk and linen from their thin shoulders, and devoured what they were after from the beginning.

No sexuality, no desire, no preference was tabooed here if you paid the respectable credits for it. A green Twi’lek, jewelry dangling from her two lekkus, had risen from another man’s lap and eyed Obi-Wan from afar. Her eyes roamed his stature, his bared chest, his freckled skin, before signaling him to come closer. He gently rejected her with a shake of his head, taking another sip from his drink. It was sweet, pink-colored, tasting of strawberries, not to his taste, he grimaced and still drowned it.

(And here a little snippet of Senator Obi-Wan meeting Anakin and then being ‘fuck it, I mean fuck me’ abandoning all his morals to just get a taste of the other man.)

Drums were played somewhere and the people had started to dance with joined hands, forming circles, barefoot on the cool marble, moving their bodies in sensual rhythms, intoxicated by the drum sound. They blurred into a havoc of colorful clothing in front of Obi-Wan’s eyes, fabric, silk, damask, linen blown by the heated summer wind and folding around their sculpted body, each move performed with the intention to desire and be desired.

The air tasted of cinnamon, spiced leather, mixed with the musk of human sweat, intoxicating Obi-Wan, guiding him into a haze of scents and tastes, the land of carnal oral pleasure. His tongue felt heavy in his mouth, velvet-like, fluttery, almost like an erogenous zone being pierced by all the scents and tastes. A shiver ran down his spine, goose bumps adorning his skin.

Someone was approaching him, he realized as a figure detached from the crowd to appear in front of Obi-Wan. The person’s face was hidden behind a pale blue face veil and only the shadows painted on his countenance let Obi-Wan perceive hints of his looks. A sharp bone structure with a piercing jaw, thin cheeks, and a strong nose contrasted by the shadow of long, feminine eyelashes and plush lips. Obi-Wan could only detect the hint of curls, framing the strangers face. He raised his hands, cupping the other man’s face, feeling the other man’s warmth radiating from his skin through the veil.

Obi-Wan opened his mouth, took in a breath, only to be greeted with another wave of the intoxicating scent, that had made him drunken before, losing himself in it. His eyes fluttered shut. New nuances bloomed on his tongue, that he had not been able to decipher before. Next to spiced leather was a mild note vanilla. A slight, fresh note mint, overlapped by the dominate cinnamon. And a sweet-lingering scent of Indian date, that was nearly lost in his musk. It tasted like a melody, perfectly combined shades to complete a great symphony. Pleasure was building in Obi-Wan’s gut, making his blood sing, hum, scream with his desire.

His fingers wandered under the veil to continue with their exploration, unveiling the other man, to finally see the object of his lust. Because he had to ensure to get a taste of it.

The starry sky shone above them as the other man laid in his arms on the meadow, crickets chirping in the background and the air still tasting of last summer, tiny blooms flourishing next to the couple. Sleep had stolen Anakin away from him, guiding him into the realm of dreams. He smiled softly at his lover and traced the scar on his face with his thumb, caressing him tenderly, placing his mouth were once his finger had been with butterfly kisses, hoping to preserve this for an eternity.

"Clone Wars AU" Giftfic for @chiis-art !

When Palpatine takes Padawan Skywalker on a “field trip” through Coruscant, with the intent to persuade Anakin into seeing his way of thinking and nudge him instead toward the Dark Side, the opposite happens. Upon seeing a woman being tormented and hurt by her captors in the street causes him to see a vision from the future.

In his panic, Anakin runs back to Tatooine in order to be reunited with Shmi and prevent her inevitable death as well as the would have been slaughter of the Tusken Raider Tribe. Due to this, it’s all prevented…though, now Master Kenobi is without a Padawan.

Years later, during the Clone Wars, Jabba the Hutt wishes to meet with Master Kenobi on Tatooine about his missing huttlet. With his new Padawan, Ahsoka Tano by his side, the search is on, though, the Huttlet is not as far from home as previously anticipated.

…and it turns out, neither is an old friend.

Okay I love the fanon Dooku and Obi-Wan dynamic and all of them getting along and being a great master and Padawan pair.

But consider...

Au where for whatever reason Dooku has to take on Obi-Wan's apprenticeship and they absolutely hate each other.

Dooku (68 and trying to get seduced to the dark side): are you going to tattle to the council again?

Obi-Wan (19 and not having it): are you going to drop protocol and try to choke someone out with the Force again?

Like Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon always had their moments of friction but the level of ice that can develop between Dooku and Obi-Wan is legendary.

Obi-Wan: Master I don't think siding with capitalists and billionaires will help the people of this planet like you think it will.

Dooku: the red tape of the republic-

Obi-Wan: is there to ensure walkways have guard rails. Do you see a guard rail here? If knighthood doesn't pan out I'm applying for a job with Space OSHA.

Dooku: Padawan the Jedi are the attack dogs of the Senate.

Obi-Wan: hey I am not the one using the force to choke people on my missions. I use my words. I think you'll find you're the one attacking--

Dooku: are you ever going to let that go?

Obi-Wan: of course Master! I know how to let go! Unlike you when you're crushing someone's windpipe!

Mace: you've been together for a month, surely this is just a rocky first step.

Dooku lifts his arm, Obi-Wan is biting him hanging off by his teeth: I'm going to level with you Master Windu. I was considering leaving the Jedi and joining a Sith Lord who plans to destroy the Jedi and take over the galaxy, but now my only desire is to get as far away from Obi-Wan Kenobi as I can and never speak to him again.

Knowing

I have just had the worst, or best, brainwave and I need to share it. 

Here is an AU for you.

Vader thinks that he killed his wife and child, right?

Right up until he meets little Leia Organa when she is 10 years old. Like his one brain cell woke the fuck up when he was confronted with a passionate, angry little girl with Padme’s eyes and his chin. This is maybe a month after she was kidnapped and returned to Alderaan. Leia decides that she would need to learn how to be a senator and insists that Bail takes her with him to the next session of the imperial senate.  

Bail does not want to bring her to the imperial senate. However he knows very well who her birth parents were, it is either Bail brings Leia to the Imperial Senate or Leia brings Leia to the Imperial Senate, probably bringing with her someone she really shouldn’t (Like actual Obi Wan Kenobi-I just want you to picture for a moment, because Bail certainly did, looking up and realizing that Leia is charging down the halls outside his office, dragging with her a bemused and sandy Obi Wan, both in badly conceived disguises).

Bail is super stressed as he tries to run a rebellion while riding herd on his well meaning but very direct 10 year old daughter on top of his normal duties as an imperial senator. Bail is also very afraid that the moment the Emperor sees Leia, he will make the connection between Leia and Padme Amidala (The emperor does not socialize with the senate any longer, thank the stars). He has no idea that Vader was once Anakin Skywalker, so has no cause to be more careful than normal (because Vader) about Vader seeing Leia. As such Bail does not even notice when Vader stops to consider them from the shadows. Leia is haranguing another planet’s senatorial aide who had chosen the wrong moment to make a bigoted joke. 

Vader is very abruptly, though mentally, thrown back to this very hallway 12 years earlier where he watched his wife do the same thing, for the same reason, possibly to this same aide. Though Leia is still a child and Padme was an adult, he can still see his wife in this little girl.

The realization that this is Padme’s child hits him with the force of a Ventanor. Followed immediately, before he even realized that this meant that his child was standing in front of him, by the soul deep knowledge that she must be protected from the Emperor at all costs. 

Vader had known for years that his suit had been designed to cause him more pain, he just thought he deserved it. The thought of Palpatine getting ahold of Padme’s daughter was abhorrent. Vader sticks to the shadows and watches, seeing how well Bail loved and protected Leia. 

While he is thinking(read Obsessing) about his daughter, the part of him that is always centered on Obi Wan points out that his old master had been one of the last people to see Padme after Vader choked her. But the little voice that spoke in Padme’s tones piped up, the shock of Leia living being enough to finally make this little voice loud enough to be heard, saying that until recently Obi Wan believed that Anakin Skywalker was all the way dead, he was protecting their child as best as he knew how. 

And Vader has issues with just about every choice Obi Wan Kenobi ever made. But he will admit that hiding Padme’s daughter was the best option. 

As Vader knows that paying too much attention to Leia would draw the Emperor’s attention, he would be willing to wait until the right moment to get his daughter back. His one concession to his need to protect her was taking one of his personal guard, one of the few units still made up almost entirely of clones, and assigning them to be Leia Organa’s bodyguard, her shadow (I also want you to take a moment to consider what that did for Bail’s stress level).  And then Vader gets to planning. 

With his one brain cell awake and focused on the Organa’s it takes Vader all of 15 minutes to realize that Bail Organa is running the Rebellion (I want it to be clear, this is not a slight on Bail at all, Anakin Skywalker was a war general, well educated through the Jedi on a number of subjects, and does have a fair measure of politics learning from both his former master and his dead wife).  However Vader is no more loyal to the Empire than Anakin was to the Republic.  In fact, upon realizing that Padme’s daughter had lived Vader firmly decided that he needed to find a way to kill Palpatine to crown Leia.  With the realization that Bail, and likely Leia (neither Vader nor Anakin have any idea what activities are appropriate for a 10 year old), are part of the Rebellion, Vader decides that The Rebellion would succeed (or everyone would die trying). 

Note: Vader only really gets away with no one realizing that he now supported the Rebellion because, well, no one can quite believe that Darth Vader supports the Rebellion. Most people think there is a new type of Space Madness, and that one of the symptoms is hallucinating Darth Vader giving you intel for the Rebellion.

By the time Leia was a teenager, rumors abound about the odd way that Vader acted around her. By sheer happenstance (and some judicial violence on Vader’s part) these rumors had never reached the Emperor. A good deal of these rumors implied that Vader was looking to the Princess of Alderaan as a wife.  The reaction Vader had, the only time it was brought up in front of him, was…impressive, even for the amount of violence he normally dealt out. Still there are members of Vader’s personal guard who watch over Leia whenever she is on Imperial Center, and no one wants to repeat the time when she was 12 when one of Bail enemies tried to kidnap her for ransom.  It took an entire corps of engineers to put those levels back to rights (after they scrubbed the blood off).  

So we get all the way up to the timeframe of ANH. The Death Star in this does not start out under the control of Darth Vader. It starts out under the control of Tarkin, it is important to note this. Leia still sends out R2D2 and C3P0 to find Obi Wan Kenobi, none of that part changes. 

It is after Leia is captured that Darth Vader shows up (does he lurk silently in any system that Leia is due to be in as often as he can get away with…why yes, yes he does). Tarkin had wanted Leia tortured, however no one wanted to find out how many decks Vader would spread their entrails across for touching her.  Vader arrives on the bridge just as Tarkin is threatening to blow up Alderaan. Tarkin orders the weapon to begin its charge. 

Leia, Leia who is so like her mother in that she will use every weapon in her arsenal, turns to Darth Vader and speaks to him for the first time. ‘Please’ she said, no effort to hide her distress, ‘please save my planet’

Something Leia had no cause to know-An angel who she resembled once thanked Anakin Skywalker for saving her planet. 

Tarkin is dead almost before she finishes speaking. Vader orders the DS weapons to power down and disengage, which is done post haste. Then announces that Leia Organa was now in control. 

So Leia now owns a Death Star (genuine article-never used). Leia is not sure if that is how this works, but no one is arguing with the tall man in black who has OPINIONS and will enforce them.  Leia manages to communicate this to her parents, who take a shuttle up to the space station to figure out what the fuck is going on, and what, if anything, they need to do next.

Two hours later: Obi Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, R2D2, C3P0, and Chewbacca have just been caught trying to sneak onto the Death Star. The Organas are still on board, trying to get answers (In that time Vader has said precisely five words to them ‘You have raised her well’).  It is to this room that the troopers manning the station (who are deeply confused and a bit conflicted because it seems like they may have all been forcibly defected from the Empire, but no one is willing to disobey Lord Vader) bring Obi Wan and co. and present them to Leia, as she is considered in command.  Somehow Luke’s full name (I kind of picture him still dumbly introducing himself to Leia, followed with ‘we’re here to rescue you’) gets used before the situation deteriorates. Which naturally causes everything to deteriorate further and faster than before.  

Far away on Imperial Center, the Emperor pauses in the middle of a hallway ‘I feel’ he says to no one ‘a disturbance in the Force.’ another pause ‘like some shit has just hit the fan’

Far away on Dagobah Yoda looks up, ‘weird, shit just got’

au where serious jedi master senate liaison obi-wan's favorite thing to do every morning is make funny faces at the two babies in their carriage across from his unofficial seat on the space star wars public transit, and the babies LOVE him and always giggle and clap and wake up and wave and gurgle and laugh, and their father, a serious looking man that obi-wan thinks he definitely should recognize but definitely does not, allows it with a begrudging sort of smile and eventually starts to make sure he's always sitting across from obi-wan, as he gets on the transit speeder after obi-wan has already ridden two stops.

one day, obi-wan even works up the courage to wink at the father, who blushes scarlet red before accidentally getting off a stop before he usually does.

but then obi-wan is called on a mission off planet and he must go and it takes weeks, and when he comes back he's wounded and has to heal up for another week or so before he can go be the senate liaison again, but his first day back, he takes the same transit speeder at the same time he always does.

and the father gets aboard the train two stops after, but this time he sees obi-wan and makes a beeline (shoves some old lady sorta out of the way) to sit next to him. and he's like, 'my twins cried for two days when you weren't here. you're not allowed to leave again, everyone was looking at me. i'm anakin skywalker, by the way.'

and obi-wan is like 'oh like the senator?' because he works with the senate, he knows about senator skywalker's attempts and fits and starts to end slavery in the Outer Rim.

and anakin is like 'i AM the senator. also do jedi do babysitting. because my babies are a bit in love with you. and so am i.'

I've been a little slow on getting out new STAR WARS fic recs out, but in my defense it's because I've been reading a bunch of longer fics lately. In the spirit of "there's a special feeling to those fics that consume you and make you stay up until 3am because you can't put them down", here's a list of some of the ones I've loved or am in the middle of reading and they are haunting my thoughts and I need to inflict that on everyone else.
