As minhas expectativas para o filme eram medianas, eu devo confessar. Eu não havia lido o livro e tão pouco lido a sinopse do filme ou visto qualquer trailer, então eu não sabia de nada da história. Pela recepção inicial, eu fiquei um pouco animado para ver o filme e esperava que fosse, pelo menos, me divertir um pouco com ele. Eu li na página do Rotten Tomatoes: “Romance, Comedy”, então eu poderia esperar uma comédia romântica.  

Eu tenho uma péssima memória, então eu vou evitar de tentar entrar em muitos detalhes do filme. 

O maior trunfo do filme é o elenco. Todos ali estão impecáveis e carismáticos em cada segundo de tela. Mas com certeza, ninguém consegue roubar os holofotes do Taylor Perez e Nicholas Galitzine. A química que foi construída entre estes dois atores é inegável e o jeito que eles te ganham é unânime. Eu gostei muito como o romance deles foi construído, sendo utilizado vários recursos visuais narrativos e de uma forma que te convence que o amor entre os dois é forjado, polido e vestido com muito brilho e dignidade pelo casal de atores.  

O filme é inegavelmente engraçado e divertido, muito devido ao espírito do personagem do Alex e ao carisma do Taylor. Ele consegue ser sensual em algumas cenas, sem te tirar do clima romântico que paira quase todo o filme. Inclusive, ele tem uma das melhores cenas de amor gay que eu já vi sendo retratado em um filme ou uma série. Tudo devido a química entre os atores. O romance do filme só é inabalável, também graças a química entre o Taylor e o Nicholas.  

Vermelho, branco e sangue azul está longe de ser um filme perfeito. Ele é formulaico, apesar do romance do Alex e do Henry serem retratados com honestidade suficiente pelos atores que você quase perdoa como você consegue prever facilmente a próxima cena (sem nem ter lido o livro). Ainda assim, é entregue um filme apaixonante, divertido e irreverente, pelos seus minutos finais. É um filme que traz um olhar romântico e humanizado de uma história Queer, que poderia ter ido muito mal, se tivesse sido feito pelas mãos erradas, mas felizmente tudo correu bem aqui para que algo agradável e sensível pudesse ter sido entregue e apreciado.

One of the funniest moments from my P5R playthrough to me was when I got Ren stuck in a time loop playing darts with Akechi because I managed to get his 2nd baton pass rank first try then failed miserably getting rank 3 for an hour and a half of reloading the save

While doing so, I had assumed that Akechi's dart AI was coded to only hit bullseyes due to the fact he consistently hit 3 bullseyes every round almost the entire time. I say almost, because there was a single time he got a score other then 150

He hit exactly 151

Out of everything, my favorite "We didn't mean to make 'em gay" Atlus moment with Shuake and P5R is how not engaging in any of the romantic routes, overall, doesn't affect the gameplay at all. You even get the best White Day bit with Soujiro + Ryuji choco, as a treat.

But not liking Akechi enough by either not completing his confidant or not choosing the right options means you don't get the complete True Ending. The game itself punishes you for not letting Akiren go to their pecualiar Akeshu-brand dates, or for not making him admit how much he cares about their proposal promise.

I hate them.
