Oh boy, big relate. I think some of those posts are meant to be like this but not..... Quite getting it? Unless there's an entirely different brand going around that's farther along than what I've seen. Like, I'm waaaay too headstrong and always having to be self_sufficient and stuff, so like.... Relying on another? Trusting someone?? Big difficult to expect when no am only strong!! F/Os def see and respect this!! And they learn how to work with that
Sorry I'm in a bit of brain fugue rn and i totally relate so, i propose: imagine ur f/os seeing this, celebrating your interdependence, but also all the arguments, discussions, the times you've broken down for always having to be strong, and them being there, never thinking less of you if you've ever faltered. Because you've got this amazing strength and fortitude to not give up. And they want you to trust them to always see that, to let them help you where they can.
They aren't interested in pampering or protecting you, but fighting alongside you.
yeah like i said i’m def not trying to bash on anyone who does enjoy that sort of thing but for me the most important thing in a relationship is partnership. the protectiveness and the responsibility that comes with that go both ways - they have my back, i have theirs.
i’m equally not here for imagining myself breaking down or faltering. i can’t afford to entertain that kind of mindset. my go-to is basically what i said above; imagining the luxury of having someone else to help keep an eye on things so we can take turns letting our guards down and recharging sometimes rather than having to fly solo 100% of the time. there’s no need to worry about what might happen if one of us broke down or faltered because now we have backup and a place of safety. not just in the physical sense, but also (and maybe even more importantly) in the emotional sense.
and idk, maybe eventually having someone with whom i realize the idea of breaking down with them around wouldn’t necessarily mean the end but that’s a conversation for me to have with my therapist lmao
