omg no im so glad for this, i cant talk abt this on twitter bc our mutual acquaintances still love her bc she hasnt shown them how she truly is yet. basically she was all like "im just a poor queer girl from a third-world country with a shit exchange rate" like that wasnt most of our friend-group back then (including me) weren't also from the global south

but in regards to astrology specifically, she was like the most performative person ever andwould play the matryr and act like she's the most accepting person ever even when it "hurt her so much" then immediately start vaguing the things she "accepted" and be like teehee what do you expect from a gemini <3 when called out etc and she'd promise to improve her behaviour but wouldn't since its #/just gemini things

also she was shit-scared of me bc her favourite people were best friends with me, and had been before her and even though i had her muted for the longest time and did not interact with her, she would genuinely freak out if our mutual friends mentioned me for any reason

there were many more awful things but bc it didnt happen to me/in my presence so i dont think its my place to bring those up

now for something i know is petty, she joined a separate group we had off the main chat SOLELY for self-insert/yumejo then would be supremely weird if we (mostly me) shared the same bias. also thinking of it i dont think she liked it that (at the time) we shared favourite seiyuu

Things that ran through my head while watching this episode:

--Sad opening with slow music & slow motion was unnecessarily sad. No, scratch that, an appropriate amount of sad, this is the loss of Rengoku-san we're focused on here.

--I love how Ufotable was probably like, "sure, Fuji TV, we'll air the next season on your channel, but we want as much air time when and how we want in order to tell the story instead of just fit things into time slots, you must have figured out by now that we made enough money on that movie that no one expects us to follow the same guidelines as other anime" and Fuji TV was like, "yes, yes, anything, you got it, one hour premiere, you got it, but we will get some fluffy filler right? Please??" and Ufotable was like, "DONE. But don't expect us to make any big departures from the manga, the fans will be down our throats."

--So with the ability to take their time, I love how they accomplished both a satisfying follow-up to the movie with most of this episode being dedicated to the fall-out (complete with slowing down the Muzan intro and drawing us into the upcoming setting), and then a brief review of what's typical for Tanjiro & Nezuko in the Corp (raincoat Tanjiro, eeeee), and then get us off to an impactful start for the rest of this season.

--Those Yuukaku setting details, though! Particularly at the end of the episode it feels like, "hey, we put all the work into this 3D model of the town, you bet we're going to show it off" but then they turn around with details like a moth that got its wing sliced, presumably by an obi.

--One of the scenes which I loved in the stage play of Mugen Ressha was when Akaza appeared before Selim Bradley child!Muzan, because the actor had such a compelling physical performance which sold the idea that for as hard Rengoku worked to damage him, it's nothing compared to the ease with which Muzan beats him up, over and over. Here, in the anime, it's just one blast, a true statement.

--Akaza. Akaza. Akaza. A KA ZA.

--I love how Zenitsu has learned to be strategic with how he steals manju.

--With Tanjiro asking if Senjuro's even heard the news of Kyojuro's death, it really, really hasn't been that long.

--Show-offy animation moment: the sake bottle crashing against the ground

--Senjuro's horror at Tanjiro's impending doom is palpable. Shinjuro is still powerful and Senjuro knows it. I really love how Senjuro is performed, he's so brave and polite.

--Tanjiro makes a lot of great faces throughout this series. This face as he accept the tea is his worst face ever.

--Kinda drives my inner meta nerd mad how there had already been 20 Flame Pillars by the time the 21st one met Yoriiichi and learned Breath technique. They must die off as fast as Ubuyashikis do.

--Tanjiro's self reflection and determination to become a Pillar warms my heart

--Oh crap, there's the sunset tones and the slow music again as Senjuro gives him the tsuba, nooooo, my heart, it's burning

--I love how Haganezuka levels up every time we see him. I am so, so ready for the next season. And the silliness!! The seiyuu must have been given directions to make it sillier and sillier in every take, which makes me very, very excited for the Tanjiro & Kotetsu antics.

--Speaking of filler!!! Ufotable must had seen that Aoi & Inosuke are endgame and thought, "gee, we need to... leave, like... some kind of hints, somehow" and had Aoi knowingly serve Inosuke a heaping second portion of rice and smile fondly when he gets excited about mitarashi dango. They're taking that "he makes her smile" tidbit and slipping it in as best they can, because we otherwise never see her smile until all is said and done.

--This, as well as Aoi being the smart and brave one to rescue Tanjiro from Haganezuka, certainly endears us to her before her plight.

--Kanao!!! It has been 4 months since Tanjiro declared that she stop using the copper coin, but here she is in a moment of indecision, and with how her actions silence everyone else, this is the very first time she's made such a decision. Good girl, Kanao! That said, she leaves herself speechless too, and when Kiyo and Sumi are emboldened to shout and scream at Uzui, she's as mute as Nezuko. Actions speak louder than words, that's for sure.

--But Kanao's thunder is totally stolen by the entrance of the Kamaboko Rangers

--I love that Tanjiro knows right away that his words have no weight, which is why he very quickly changes tactics and switches to volunteering himself (and his bros) to action

re: lrb, I love 22/7 music. I didn't know about them before the anime and while most passed the show as forgettable, I think of it fondly. It wasn't a masterpiece but it introduced me to them. Some of my favourites have graduated from the group but I still love the music and some of the newer girls seem cool too.

Yeah, the songs are what I love the most. Many of them hit a great spot of melancholy and/or bittersweet. They are so, so good. <3

Two of my very favourites are Boku ga motteru mono nara (first vid) and Kaze wa fuiteru ka? (linking seiyuu dance vid cuz the character music vid is only short ver.) Boku ga motteru mono nara perfectly showcases what I mean by the melancholy/bittersweet, not only the music but the lyrics go like "I want you to smile and I'd gladly give what I have to you but what I have is not what you want" and "God said we are all equal but we are filled with despair" etc.

Nani ga shiteagerarenai is great too. And Muzui was the anime OP, I love it. It has some of the most depressing lyrics in their songs though, it asks why should we even live, lives are too long and it's difficult (muzukashii = muzui).

And then my favourite b-side, Rain of Lies:

Aaaaa I love them so much! <3 Some of their songs have hope and love in them too (for example Kimi wa Moon) but I like that they are not generally happy poppy kind. They also have a yuri song (Shampoo no nioi ga shita) and something coooompletely different in Tachitsuteto Power.

Notes

[1]: Shiritori is a Japanese word game where players take turns saying words, where each word has to start with the last kana from the previous word. As you might imagine, it is basically impossible to translate perfectly.

In this case, there's fortunately no visual significance to any of the words used and the only real contextual significance is Shiho starting with an animal that Manager thinks she is pointing out, so I'm pretty free to just use entirely different words, though I tried to at least match the vibes as best I could. The original series of words are:

What I considered important and tried to emulate in the translation was Shiho always ending with the same kana (su), and Manager getting exasperated near the end and trying to catch her out with a palindrome and then the shortest possible word that also ends with shiho's chosen kana--literally just "su".

There's also some cheekiness in some of Shiho's early word choices that I can't quite preserve: the two-kana words like "mesu" and "isu" require basically no thought: She has the kana she needs to start with, she has the kana she wants to end with, she just puts them together and can reliably make a valid word. Can't really do that in English as most two-letter combinations (and even two-syllable combinations) would be random gibberish, but I tried to make up for it by putting some cheekiness in her last words in my translation: "Racer" comes straight off racecar, and I imagined her hearing "roar", thinking of the similar-sounding "rower", and then adding an extra syllable as a flex.

What is your preferred name? I love pseudonyms so I go by a lot of different names. On tumblr I tend to go by Juudy but I also like Nella. Both are such pretty names to me &lt;3

2. What are your pronouns? She/Her and He/Him are the ones I prefer, but I don't mind They/Them either.

6. What other fandoms are you in, apart from this one? Off the top of my head: Ouran High School Host Club, Black Butler, Seiyuu Ka!, Ace Attorney, My Little Pony, and Postknight 2. It's not an exhaustive list but it some of my top fandoms ^*^

7. What drew you to writing your current character(s)? Tough one! But I've always loved sly characters that don't really stick to one side or another, I think that's the biggest draw to writing for Amvin. Xir just charming but dodgy.

10. What is your favorite fictional character (in or out of the current fandom)? Ace Attorney's Miles Edgeworth, hands down. I love his character growth and he's really become a huge inspiration for me. He has a very special place in my heart as he was the first character that I really connected with.

11. What are your favorite hobbies besides roleplaying/writing? Drawing and language learning! I'm not too great at digital art which is why I don't really post any of my art to any of my blogs. I think my traditional art is pretty good though!

As for language learning, I've been listening to more Igbo art/stories/podcasts to become more comfortable and fluent in my parent's native language. Even if I can't speak it, I'd like to at least hear/understand it.
