A lavish fruit basket sat on the table with a name written on it— To: (Y/n) (L/n).
However, the sender's name was not written and thus, remains unknown.
Tumblr media
Rei: My, my, those are some delicious-looking fruits. From melons and muscat grapes to peaches, apples, and even mangos.
Rei: That's a rather lavish assortment of fruits. What's the special occasion?
Rei: A present from an unknown sender? Fufu, you sure do have some passionate fans if they're willing to come all the way to The Magnolia to deliver this.
Rei: Or maybe it's the start of a fated love story, one that transcends even that of a fan’s admiration.
Rei: It's possible, you know. I heard that the exact same thing had happened in this school before, in the past, when someone sent another a fruit basket.
Rei: The recipient had been the first violinist of the Orchestra Club, and the sender had been a student from a rival school…

Leiji: …
Tumblr media
Sousuke: Um… Pre-President Myoga. I apologize for bothering you while you're working.
Sousuke: Regarding the bowing issue you pointed out the other day…
Sousuke: I've practiced really hard, and, um… I think I might have improved…?
Leiji: Oh? Has it improved to a standard that isn't jarring to my ears now?
Sousuke: N-Not at all. Erm… It might actually still be terribly hot garbage…
Sousuke: But I think it has improved a little compared to the last time, at least… So, if possible, could you listen to it…?
Sousuke: (Eek… This is so nerve-wracking! The atmosphere in this room is so intimidatingly frigid, and there's the sweet tang of fruit in the air.)
Tumblr media
Sousuke: Wait… What? Come to think of it, what's that delectable smell…?
Sousuke: Whoooa… What a plump peach! I knew that something was different about this room today, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. I never thought you'd have a fruit basket in here.
Sousuke: Look at those vibrant mangoes. I bet it'd be delicious when made into mango pudding!
Tumblr media
Leiji: …Nanami…
Sei: —There are apples too. The flower language of apples means “temptation” if memory serves right. Quite meaningful, don't you think?
Tumblr media
Sousuke: Whoa! Amamiya-san…? S-Since when were you here? I didn't notice your presence at all.
Sei: They do say that sweet scents are capable of befuddling one's senses.
Sei: But, Myoga, I never thought that you'd be one to send her gifts. I'm sure she's overjoyed by them.
Leiji: Don't be ridiculous. She was the one who pawned off useless items to me. I'm simply returning the favor.
Leiji: Being indebted to that woman is unthinkable. That's all there is to it.
Sousuke: …"That woman"? Are you talking about…
Tumblr media
Leiji: Nanami, are you here just to gossip? If you want to chat, then please take it elsewhere.
Sousuke: Oh, nono, no! Sorry, erm…
Leiji: I suppose the results of your training aren't half-baked If you have the time to be chit-chatting away here. Let's hear it.
Sousuke: O-Okay. There's a cello in the music room, so let's do it there!
Tumblr media
Sei: …How interesting. Love sure is complicated.
Sei: She's the only one capable of throwing you into disarray. Although, I'm sure you're aware of it yourself.
Sei: The flower language of an apple might be “temptation”, but an apple blossom means “preference”...
Sei: Between you and her, I wonder who will end up preferring one or the other in the end?

ANIMERICA EXTRA - December 2003 Issue YASHA Feature!
There were many other YASHA features during the short runtime of the ANIMERICA EXTRA Magazine Viz Media had published, and I hope to post them when I am able! This post will be updated later with links to the original sources I had gotten these images from once I have properly archived them. For now— here is a transcription below the image!
Tumblr media
YASHA
A look at Japan's most popular manga…
YASHA is arguably Akimi Yoshida's most popular series after BANANA FISH. Although it possesses all the complexity, intrigue, and good looks of its predecessor, YASHA's setting, context and lead character are completely different. While both leads have tragic pasts, Sei is no punk from urban America's backstreets—he's a privileged wunderkind working at a fancy biotech company in affluent suburbia.
A blond boy getting an MRl is treated kindly by the doctor. The boy is Sei, and his mother tells him not to leave the hospital alone or talk to strangers while she consults with the doctor. "We're poor." Sei scoffs, "No one would kidnap me." For as long as he can remember, Sei and his mom traveled to this Tokyo hospital for an exam every six months.
Back in Okinawa, Sei's best friend is Toichi Nagae. Unfortunately for the boys, Toichi's brother has been accepted into a Tokyo college, and the family will be moving there soon. Maybe it won't so bad—Sei can visit his uncle there, and the boys can finally go to Disneyland together!
Before the Nagaes leave, they attend their town's summer festival. The fun is cut short when the boys return to Sei's home to find his mother being held captive by men in suits and sunglasses. Sei allows the men to take him if they'll let Toichi go. In a desperate attempt to free her son, Sei's mother grabs a thug's gun and aims at the man in charge. She's shot down in front of Sei's eyes. The fleeing Toichi finds his brother and drags him back to Sei's house, but by then, It's a desserted mess. Only they observe the huge helicopter leaving the island; only they know Sei has been kidnapped.
Six years later. Sei has survived grad school without getting tainted by its posturing and politics. There's an opening for a virus specialist in Japan, and Sei's mentor at Neo Genesis suggests, despite the danger of going back, perhaps Sei should return to Japan while he has the chance.
In the meantime. Toichi has become a fairly normal high-school senior living with his brother who always works late at his lab. Naturally, It's the same lab as the one where Sei's going to work! Soon Sei and Toichi are reunited, but the situation in far from normal. First there's Sei's pair of bodyguards. Then thugs hired by Neo Genesis' rival attack the clinic Sei's uncle manages. Sei's cool look and attitude are also different, and his uncanny senses as a child have been honed to ultra-human capacities. Plus, people keep mistaking Sei for a guy named Rin and a woman named Shizuka!
It turns out Rin is Sei's previously unknown twin brother, and their meeting is a strange one. Initially emotionless, Rin suddenly turns on the charm, acting like a long-lost sibling happy to see his big brother. From the start, Toichi doesn't trust Rin, making it difficult to talk to Sei about him. That Rin's last name is the same as that of the man who kidnapped Sei all those years ago further complicates the situation.
"Yasha" means "female demon." Along the way to discovering the title's connection to the story, there's plenty of action, emotion and intrigue. Sei's tangled personal life meshes together with a scheme by powerful men to develop a deadly virus, all plot elements combine to create a highly engaging series. If you like complex stories with plenty of appealing guys, try YASHA, Sei makes being smart cool.

Yasha, another work by Akimi Yoshida, will be released in my country (Germany) from the end of July onwards.
It’s a European publishing house, so I don’t know about a release in the US or other non-European countries, but please check if the translation is available in your country as well and support the author by buying it.
Like Banana Fish, summarizing the story in a few words is not easy but I tried:
Sei Arisue's mother is shot before his eyes when he’s 12 and the boy is kidnapped to America. Six years later, he manages to return to Japan to investigate a virus spreading. But when he meets his best friends again, they realize that his high IQ is far from the only thing unusual about him...
Sing appears in the story and compares the main character to Ash. And we learn what happened to Yut Lung.
See some similarities in the charscter’s design:

The 2000 YASHA TV Drama, in Order, in Not-So-Crisp 360p
Here is a drive folder of all the episodes in order!
I found all of the episodes on a website called “dramanice.la,” but because I do not trust that site very much and do not expect it to be up forever, I decided to download them all and put them in a google drive folder(which, i know, isn’t very secure either. I’m currently trying to figure out a better way to make these more secure and accessible for the long-term.)
YASHA(2000)’s plot summary is, according to IMDB,
“The story is about a set of twin baby boys who were created/cloned in the laboratory as a part of gene altering/gene therapy experiment. Because of the nature of the project, the twins were born with superior physical strength, supernatural powers and extremely high IQ. Unfortunately, the twins were separated at birth. One of the brothers, Sei, grew up to be an elite bio-chemistry scientist in America. He was assigned to a project where he has to travel to a small island in Japan to investigate an unidentified virus that is spreading on the island. By a freak of nature, he found out that he has a twin brother, Rin, whose evil, dark personality is entirely opposite of him. What is going to happen when they finally meet face to face? What are their true identities? Why were they separated at birth, what other secrets are hidden from them? Does the fast spreading virus has anything to do with the twins? Who created them? And why?“
I, personally, don’t really like the TV drama for a number of reasons, but that is for another, more opinionated post.
As of right now, I’ve only found the TV drama subbed in English, but I believe that a French fansub exists.

La Corda d'Oro and its Saints Part 1: January to June
So I've done this one a few days ago since my close friend of mine, who is a violinist and a cosplayer. Now after some further research, here are some characters from La Corda d'Oro, and this will separate in two parts. So here it is.
January 3rd - Akihiko kira
Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus: A liturgical event that is celebrated every year, at least at local levels, since the end of the 15th century. It has been held on different dates, usually in January, because 1 January, eight days after Christmas, commemorates the naming of the child Jesus; as recounted in the Gospel (Luke 2:21) read on that day, 'at the end of eight days, when he was circumcised, he was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.' St. Bernardine of Siena placed great emphasis on the Holy Name, which he associated with the IHS Christogram, and may be responsible for the coupling of the two elements.
January 27th - Sousuke Nanami
St. Angela Merici: Italian religious educator and foundress of the Company of St. Ursula (Angelines) in 1535 in Brescia, in which women dedicated their lives to the service of the Church through the education of girls. From this organisation later sprang the monastic Order of Ursulines, whose nuns established places of prayer and learning throughout Europe and, later, worldwide, most notably in North America. Her major shrine can be found in Brescia.
February 9th - Nami Amou
St. Apollonia: 2nd century virgin and martyr. She was one of a group of virgin martyrs who suffered in Alexandria during a local uprising against the Christians prior to the persecution of Trajan Decius. Her torture included having all of her teeth violently pulled out or shattered according to tradition, and for this reason she is popularly regarded as the patroness of dentistry and those suffering from toothache or other dental problems.
February 20th - Sei Amamiya
Sts. Francisco and Jacinta Marto: Alongside their cousin Lúcia dos Santos, they are the two children who witnessed three apparitions of the Angel of Peace in 1916 and several apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Cova da Iria in 1917. Both Francisco and Jacinta were solemnly canonized by Pope Francis at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fátima, in Portugal on May 13th, 2017, the first centennial of the first Apparition of Our Lady of Fátima.
February 27th - Kahoko Hino
St. Gabriel of Our Lady of Sorrows: Italian confessor and clerical student from the Passionists. He gave up ambitions of a secular career to enter the Passionist Congregation. His life in the monastery was not extraordinary, yet he followed the rule of the congregation perfectly and was known for his great devotion to the sorrows of the Virgin Mary. After his death from tuberculosis at 23 and canonized as a saint by Pope Benedict XV in 1920, his major shrine can be found in San Gabriele in the commune of Teramo.
March 3rd - Hiroto Kanazawa
St. Katharine Drexel: American philanthropist, religious sister, educator, heiress, and foundress of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, as well as Xavier University of Louisiana, the only historically black Catholic college in the country. She might be the second canonized saint to have been born in the United States and the first to have been born a U.S. citizen, she is the patron of philanthropists and racial justice.
March 30th - Kiriya Etou
St. John Climacus (John of the Ladder): A monk from 6th-7th century at the monastery located on Mount Sinai. He is honored and revered as a saint by the Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox and Eastern Catholic churches.
March 31st - Kyoya Kisaragi
St. Benjamin the Deacon and Martyr: He is a deacon who is martyred circa 424 AD in Persia. He was imprisoned for a year for his Christian faith, and later released with the condition that he abandon preaching or speaking of his religion. As a consequence, he was executed during a period of persecution of Christians that lasted forty years and through the reign of two Persian kings: Isdegerd I, who died in 421, and his son and successor, Varanes V.
April 24th - Len Tsukimori
St. Fidelis of Sigmaringen: German religious, priest and martyr from the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin. One of the major figures in the Counter-Reformation, he was martyred by his opponents at Seewis in Prättigau, now part of Switzerland. Canonized as a saint by Pope Benedict XIV in 1746, his major shrine can be found in a Capuchin friary of Weltkirchen at Feldkirch, Vorarlberg, Austria.
May 4th - Haruto Mizushima
St. Florian: Born around 250 AD in the ancient Roman city of Aelium Cetium (present-day Sankt Pölten), he joined the Roman Army and advanced in the ranks, rising to commander of the imperial army in the Roman province of Noricum. He was also responsible for organizing and leading firefighting brigades in addition to his military duties. After he is sentenced to death and apprehensive of his words, the soldiers did not burn Florian, but executed him by drowning him in the Enns River with a millstone tied around his neck. Florian is the patron saint of firefighters, chimney sweeps, brewers, and Upper Austria together with St. Leopold the Good.
June 6th - Ritsu Kisaragi
St. Norbert of Xanten: Bishop, confessor and founder of the Order of Canons Regular of Prémontré (aka the Premonstratensians or Norbertines). When a dispute arose over the papal succession in 1130, Norbert traveled to Rome to support the legitimate Pope Innocent II. Afterward he returned to Germany and became a close adviser to its Emperor Lothar. In a sense, his life seems to have come full-circle: the first hints of his conversion had come on a trip to Rome two decades earlier, when he accompanied a previous emperor. This time, however, Norbert was seeking God’s will, not his own advancement. Canonized by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582, he is the patron saint of Magdeburg and invoked during childbirth for safe delivery.
June 18th - Azuma Yunoki
St. Elisabeth of Schönau: German visionary and abbess from the Benedictine order who was a gifted mystic. She had her first vision in 1152 and was known for ecstasies, prophecies, and diabolical visitations. Her cult was never formalized, but she is listed as a saint in the Roman Martyrology.

Beginning Post
Good evening! Sorry for the lack of content as of now. I am currently compiling a list of various YASHA editions, including scans of English fan translations and mp4′s of the 2000 TV drama with English subtitles.
I do not currently have access to the Japanese, French, Chinese, or Indonesian translations, much less scans of them(I only own a full set of Japanese editions, and I don’t own a scanner unfortunately, otherwise I’d have gladly uploaded every page I have of my editions right now LMAO...), so if anyone who speaks those respective languages knows where I can find some scans, please let me know! I want to create a wide net for anybody to get into this fantastic series. If you have any information(and I mean ANY), please find a way to contact me about it. All information is good information, as English info on this series is difficult to find, and google translate is almost less than useless in languages like Indonesian.
I will be sourcing my English fan scanlations from sites like Mangago and different scanlation groups, as there isn’t an official English translation, but I’ll do my best to credit every group involved(most likely by keeping their promo pages, if they have them.)
