Tag Nine People You'd Like to Know Better
Tagged by @pyrchance !!! <3
Last song - All I Wanted (Paramore)! Sometimes you just need Hayley Williams idk man
Favorite colors - Definitely changes. Lately I've been loving sort of desaturated midtones--sage green, mustard, rust, etc. I'd say my long-running favorite is purple, but right now I'm favoring, you guessed it, a desaturated midtone purple. I think of it as "Kate Bishop purple," lmfao.
Currently watching - The Stanley Cup Final series! In terms of like, narrative stuff, I keep meaning to start s2 of Heroes. Uhhh, and technically I'm in the middle of a rewatch of s1 of The X-Files as well, though I haven't watched any in like a couple months at this point.
Spicy/savory/sweet - Sweet for sureeeee. I am a big sweet/salty combo person, though. I am unfortunately the tiniest whitest baby w/r/t spicy food, which is like the one trait I would actually change about myself in a heartbeat if I had access to some sort of Create A Sim function IRL.
Relationship status - I have one romantic partner at the moment and, eh, 2-3 (occasional/not regular) sexual partners, as well as a couple of platonic play partners on the kink side. I'd classify all of those as pretty casual relationships, though. (I swear it's not as wild as it sounds? Or maybe I'm just blinded to the insanity of poly relationship diagrams at this point, IDK.)
Current obsessions - Well, definitely FOB's new festival set, but also, I've been on a Taking Back Sunday kick lately. And in the past couple of weeks, I've been reading hockey RPF for the first time in literal years, with a whole smorgasbord of ships that didn't even exist last time I was in hrpf space (Lars/Dunn, Hischier/Hughes, Tkachuk/Draisaitl... of course I go back to my ol' reliable Benn/Seguin too because I am a simple man with predictable tastes).

the players in dallas don’t get recognized. in highschool for 3yrs i worked at a juice bar and a whole foods located where the majority of them had condos/houses and would see players on a daily basis. thats how i got into hockey bc my friend/coworker was a big hockey guy & would freak out when they’d come by but literally no one else ever approached them. tyler seguin came in alot sometimes twice a day and on sunday mornings he’d always have a random woman with him-either a brunette, mexican or mixed woman and they’d always appear older than him like 30-34. he was always nice. drunk uncle vibe. dad jokes. The dallas Mavs players were the ones to be recognized bc they’re giants. I moved for college came back after grad to work as a nurse at a rehab fitness center. it turns out alot of the Stars & Cowboys players go here. i don’t interact bc i work uptop in the medical part where you get infusions/labs & the NHL /NFL has their own private medical team, but occasionally the older Stars players will come up to get vitamin infusion/hydration infusions or just to yap with my boss who used to work in their medical team. unfortunately none of the stars players past/present have ever been cute or interesting to me nor do i route for the stars-now if it was Toronto or Nashville players i’d freak out🤩side note: most of the cowboy players are rude AF like very entitled. my boss has gotten into it with 3 of them already and the year just started 💀 also the guy coworker from the smoothie shop who originally got me into hockey was the one who introduced me to these nhl gossip blogs in highschool- he was an SMU frat bro and introduced me to puck bunny blogs 😂 these type of blogs have a more diverse audience than you think.
Yeah Dallas isn't a big hockey town so it isn't super surprising that they wouldn't lol
And you never know who is behind the anon so there definitely is a bigger diverse audience on here lol

Writing Patterns - LAST Lines!
Rules: write the last line of your 10 longest fics. What patterns can you see, if any? Which ones are your favourites?
tagged by @phdmama in that she very generously tagged everyone. if you're reading this, and you want to, you are now tagged by me. please tag me, or reblog so i can see yours, too!
Thoughts here, lines below the cut!
apparently, i love a line of dialogue to end a story. but what i really see is that whether it's a line of dialogue, or a little sentence summing up the possible future, it's that: always an eye to the future and what might happen next. and so much gentleness.
Every Day I Wake Up and It's Sunday (hermione/oliver wood; 50514 words; this is my first fic, and let me down a 90s rabbit hole that my musical algorithm will never recover from)
Hermione and Oliver had each other, and they knew they made their own luck, and were unafraid.
Biological Imperative (jason todd/dick grayson; 29499 words; omegaverse, lazarus pit shenanigans, baby damian wayne!)
“Yeah,” Dick said. “Come on. Damian needs someone to play with.”
Making All Things New (tyson barrie/nathan mackinnon, and a little jamie benn/tyler seguin; 27432 words; omegaverse, inspired by the excellent oplopanax's feral nate chapter of bits and pieces)
And Tyson wasn’t naming that sweet bonny girl after EJ…
Bang Your Head (steve harrington/eddie munson; 23868 words; fix-it fic all based on the idea "What if Eddie saw Steve on MTV in his vest, hosting the Headbanger's Ball?")
They have all the time in the world.
The Flowers and My Love (jason todd/dick grayson; 22865 words; slowburn, mistaken identity hanahaki trope subversion that also benefited from my 90s music rabbit hole...)
"Yeah, Jason, I want it.”
Home Is Some Place (jason todd/dick grayson; 19302 words; this was supposed to be a one-shot based on high rent prices in gotham that turned into a batfam story. reverse robins! including big brother damian! good mother talia al ghul!)
"Nightwing!"
Containing Multitudes (jason todd/dick grayson; 18243 words; a 5+1 exploration of identity with a little Jason Dent thrown in for fun)
"Hey, Sugar.”
A Surprise To Be Sure (din djarin/luke skywalker; 16841 words; a modern AU focused on family, found or otherwise; just a corny fluffball; i listened to kacey musgraves' golden hour on repeat writing this...)
This is the Way.
Death's Silver Lining (sirius black/remus lupin; 16814 words; exploration of the black family relationship; good mother walberga black [no i'm not spelling her name with a u; she is mine and something entirely different])
They laughed quietly together, as Sirius’s hands inched up Remus’s shirt, and brought it up over his head.
We're in for a Bad Spell (jason todd/dick grayson; 13818 words; omegaverse; magic and time travel)
“K, babe,” Jason texted right back. “We’ll be right here.”

intactivists — Anti-circumcision protesters the Bloodstained Men hold up signs
A group of anti-circumcision activists grabbed San Antonio drivers’ attention last week with signs reading "I want my foreskin back," "stop cutting baby penis" and "nobody wants less penis." (See video here.)
Bloodstained Men is a California-based group of "intactivists" who believe there is no medical necessity for circumcision and that the procedure should not be done without consent.
Organization members visit over 60 cities a year wearing a distinctive uniform: bright
white pants stained red in the crotch.
The provocative outfit symbolizes "the wound that American doctors inflicted on our genitals when we were too young to defend ourselves," the group says on its website.
On Sunday, Bloodstained Men concluded a protest tour of Texas that included stops in Austin, Houston and San Antonio.
The Bloodstained Men arrived in Leon Valley for a protest Dec. 11 and returned to San Antonio Dec. 14 to protest on the Northeast Side.
At least 10 protesters held signs with messages like “circumcision is sexual mutilation," "you deserve your whole penis," and "honk if you love foreskin."
Video of the event shows some San Antonio drivers hit their horns in support as the "intactivists" stood at the intersection of Old Seguin and Rittiman roads.
While both San Antonio-area protests appeared to be relatively peaceful, the Bloodstained Men were faced with police in other Texas cities.
Locals reported protesters for causing traffic hazards in both Burnet and Kerrville, according to police and videos taken by the organization.
The Burnet Police Department confirmed that multiple citizens called to report a traffic hazard during the group's protest Dec. 10 but "no offenses were observed."
The Bloodstained Men also posted footage of Kerrville police confronting protesters, advising the group to stay within crosswalks and comply with traffic signals.
Texans took notice of the Bloodstained Men during their tour across the state and took to social media with photos of the protesters.
"Happening locally & all I can say is, If my circumcision offends you, you just circumcised our chance of being friends," one Facebook user wrote.

"Youths Captured After Exciting Motor Car Chase," Ottawa Journal. October 3, 1932. Page 15. --- Police "Prowler" Car and Pursued Machine Make Some Thrilling Turns on Lindenlea Streets. --- Chased through the winding streets of Lindenlea and New Edinburgh by a police prowler car, four youths accused of stealing the automobile in which they tried to elude their pursuers were captured at 2.30 o'clock. Sunday morning and arrested on a charge of theft.
The prisoners were: Arthur Seguin, 17, of 45 Springfield road; Fernand Villeneuve, 17, of 90 Catherine street, Eastview: Gerard Cardinal, 16, of 30 Douglas avenue, and Royal Legault, 17, of 25 Durocher street.
Arraigned in Police Court this morning the quartet was remanded until tomorrow without pleading.
While patrolling the eastern sector of the city and rambling around New Edinburgh, Constables Leopold Goyette and John Cavan noticed an automobile cross Beechwood avenue. the boundary between Ottawa and Eastview, at Putman avenue, at high speed.
Put On Speed. Deciding to get close enough to take the license number, the police headed their car towards the direction the others had taken and turned into Putman avenue in pursuit. When they realized they were being followed and overtaken, the occupants of the car ahead increased the speed and darted into the labyrinth of streets in Lindenlea.
Hot in pursuit, the police saw the lights of their quarry's machine go out and realized they could not slacken their pace an instant if they were to catch up.
Around sharp bends, hair-pin twists and right angle corners, the two automobiles roared. the police car steadily gaining. After 10 minutes of dodging, swerving and mad racing. Constable Goyette guided the prowler car past and ahead of the other automobile and forced its passengers to stop at Rideau Terrace and Noel street.
Inspector of Detectives Mortimer Culver said the four boys had a number of articles in the car which they will be asked to explain. They include a loaded black-jack, nine flashlights, a wrench, two pairs of pliers. a tennis racket, a gallon jar and a length of rubber tubing smelling strongly of gasoline, and several bottles of soft drink.
Car Was Stolen. The automobile they were driving, the police said, belonged to Peter Bance, 37 Daly avenue, and was stolen from Nelson street between 9 and 10 p.m., Saturday. It was not damaged in the chase and subsequent capture.
Both Inspector Culver and Chief Inspector George McLeod were warm in their praise of the work which resulted in the arrest of the quin- tet and the recovery of the stolen car. They reiterated their belief that the prowler car system put into operation in recent months had more than justified its existence and was one of the best and most efficient means of crime prevention and detection in use. Lucien Barnabe, 642 St. Patrick street, was among the youths held last night but he was not charged, as he entered the car after it had been stolen.

Wines For Easter Brunch Or Any Brunch At All
Whether you’re really celebrating Easter in the old-school sense, or marking the passage of spring with a glass and some friends, there are few times of year that so call for celebration. Getting around to it calls for some planning. We fret over the depths of winter, but somehow anything heavy, heavy, heavy will do in winter. Come spring though, when we really come back to life, suddenly we’re at a loss as to which wine will go best. The American trend seems to lean away from the big formal Easter Sunday dinner and toward a brunch-style gathering. While that welcome informality makes for some much more social and easy-going camaraderie, let’s hope, it also takes a little pressure off the choice for the perfect wine. Like any time of year, the way you’ll be cooking and the toppings and sides are going to determine what you’re pouring. Baking, grilling and sautéing are very different processes, but for brunch, it’s the sauces, fruits and toppings that become doubly important. Eggs or quiches are more flavorful, not less, and so they very often require a more flavorful wine. Brunch In a general sense, for early afternoon and brunch, we’re looking at Pinot Gris, Chenin Blanc and many Rieslings. These are slightly more acidic wines with more fruit flavor, but medium to light in body. We’re looking for the acid to highlight the flavors of the food, without overwhelming it. And generally, unless your serving literally dozens of people, let’s leave the mimosas out for the moment. Rieslings in particular stand out with eggs (and here with salmon, too) particularly as the morning starts to spread into the afternoon. Rieslings tend to be more medium bodied wines, and though they are not terribly popular in the states, there are some very good and affordable options available. Drier Rieslings go well with most brunch items and the spicier the dishes, the sweeter you’ll want your Rieslings. On the other hand, a whole variety of Italian Proseccos, like the Terre Deor Delle Venezie Prosecco Rose, make nice replacements for Champagne or a similar sparkling wines. It still goes very well with omelets, fritatas or quiches for which brunch is famous. Normally you’ll want a fresh, round wine, perhaps some citrus, peach, and a little mineral. This one suffices very nicely. Breakfast Foods Before we get to the carbs that dominate so much of brunch, let’s talk about your one “big taste” breakfast food. Even at 3 in the afternoon, bacon is going to be the taste to beat (or in this case, to match). Something equally robust needs to be a little buttery, but hopefully medium bodied. A Chardonnay may very well be called for. It’s spring after-all. With butter, almond, lemon, and a medium finish, the 2010 Domaine Seguine Manuel Vielles Vignes Poully Fuisse makes a very nice afternoon toast and will stand up next to all that bacon. For a lot of us, though, brunch is always more about carbs. Pancakes, pastries and French toast, normal toast or bread are just as good as eggs and tend to show up in far greater quantities. You’re right back to thinking about toppings – and fruit. Your spicier white wines are going to cover most of your bases. Pinot Grigio is probably too rich, but a more northerly Pinot Gris with highlights of vanilla or cinnamon will go well with most fruits or even maple. If you really are sticking with coffee and Danishes, some of the yeast in sweeter breads really is better complemented by those same Champagnes we snubbed above. Light Wine Then again if you plan on going with a medium to light bodied red, try a Pinot Noir, Barbera or Gamay. There lighter, but still provide lots of fruit and will go well with some of the other fruits or fruit toppings on the table. For steak and eggs, you are ok with a medium Merlot. But that should be as velvety and comforting as possible. And like any time of year, experimenting a little before hand, testing out a few bottles, flavors and textures goes a long way toward making your final decisions the right ones. No one ever argued against a “practice-run Saturday brunch” – even when your big show is coming up the next day. Invite some trusted confidantes and don’t be afraid to try out some new combinations and something extra special too. Read the full article
