“you are remarkably well-behaved tonight, what have you been up to?” -> From Valerie to Volt || @ineffablemuses
💜 More Random Dialogue Prompts // CLOSED 💜
“Well-behaved? Me? Pfft,” Volt laughed, swinging down with her legs still hooked around the metal pipe she’d been sitting on. Her upside down smile greeted Valerie just inches from her own face. “I’m not well-behaved, I’m just waiting.” She hummed, rocking back and forth from where she hung.
“Jax is coming around, said she had a job for me. Needed a little extra help lifting parts this week. There was a massive explosion in the factory center in Arroyo. Said she got inside scoop on a rough estimate for injuries and she’s short on the implants that she knows she’s gonna need. From what I’ve heard, both from her and others who were nearby when it happened, these aren’t gonna be parts that she can put on backorder. There’s not gonna be a waiting list.” It was spoken very plainly, very matter-of-factly. Suddenly, her face lit up.
“Say, you wanna come with? It’ll be a quick job. We just grab a van, a couple boxes of parts, toss ‘em in the back, and we’re off. In and out. No one will even know we were there. I’m sure Jax’ll give you a cut of the winnings. Then, we can head over to that match in Pacifica- heard it’s a good one between Armin Watts and Buck Nievans. Whaddaya say?”
Volt grinned as she propositioned the idea. Not so much as a falter or a hiccup in her planning of the whole thing. She seemed so adapted to living a life of planning her personal life around her gigs- no greater aspirations. Just crime and vibes. So unbothered by the prospect of stealing from corporations, so completely unfazed by the idea of just doing a job like that and then going out to party afterwards, like it was your usual 9 to 5. That was what happened when you lived and breathed being a merc.

@chaosworthy asked:
Arrow couldn't say he wasn't glad when it seemed the subject of what was going on was more or less dropped. Or at least put on the backburner. He did feel bad for worrying her, even making a mental note to one day team up with his partner to explain why these moments happened in the first place, but now wasn't the time to dive into such a thing. They had enough on their plate as it was.
The hero took a moment, closing his eyes in a poor attempt to steady his breathing as he leaned against his resting place that much more. Chaos, he hated this. Nothing he ever did seemed to make it any better, and yet he tried every single time. At least the accompanying dizziness was gradually fading, that was a good sign. He imagined he was still pale as nothing else, it always did take a while for that to right itself, but it seemed the worst of it was over. Thank Chaos.
While his whole ear twitched at the question that came next the hero didn't open his eyes, more out of consideration than anything. He had a feeling the would-be human would be getting some questions of their own when they got back home but he still answered truthfully.
"Yes. And before you ask, no, he can't do anything either. The best he can manage is t' warn me ahead of time...but not stop it." Much as his friend had done that day, though it seemed being in a different Zone had messed up Kintobor's estimate by a few minutes. Still better than no warning at all, Arrow reckoned.
Focusing on the combination of his weakened heart and his daughter's hand on his back, and the embrace that followed, the hero did seem to relax somewhat when those few minutes passed. He was still shaken, but better. Enough that he cracked open one eye at the playful tone before glaring at her with a like air.
"I can, yeah. An' I plan t' prove it everyday I possibly can...no matter how tall you get." Punctuated with a small bump of their heads, the hero took it one notch further and gave those bangs a small, appreciative, kiss. He didn't miss what she was trying to do, but he certainly wasn't going to complain about it. "Thank you."
——————————
Only slightly disappointed that she seemed to be the only one in their family in the dark about what was happening to her dad, she was even more disappointed that there didn’t seem to be anything that could be done to help him. Save for waiting it out it seemed.
But Arrow was right to assume that a certain grandfather was going to get his brain picked for a bit. Not just when they got home, but at some point when the preteen got on her tablet and messaged him. There were a few more questions she had for the hero first, and one of them was more important than the rest.
“Promise t’ come get me next time? That way I can sit wit’cha and keep ya company while ya wait t’ feel better?” Just a simple request, so he wouldn’t have to be alone if another happened while Volt wasn’t able to be there for him. Even if all they did was exactly what they were doing now with sitting against the wall together. The playful banter would also probably play a part since Harmony saw no other way to help her dad.
They did say that laughter was the best medicine, but she’d try to keep him from laughing too much. Just in case if made his breathing worse.
Tail wagging at the look cast her way, Harmony giggled as she returned the affectionate bump. She settled herself right in beside the hero after he kissed her forehead and looked forward at the sky above them. The smile on her face was far less forced as she rested her head on his shoulder.
“I’m gonna hold ya to that.” Emerald eyes sparkled with mischief. “Cuz daddy said I’m gonna keep growing and might even be taller than Johnny when I get older.”
Was she proud of that theory, absolutely.

Just... Jotting down a few things I remember from 'the visit' to the s//cp guys’ facility. I'm going to start a new tag for things related to this: #anomaly.mp3. I’m gonna rebrand every post where I’ve talked about them with this new tag.
I know I was captured at least twice.
The first time, it was very brief. I was walked down a long corridor and guided to a room. The room was very small and featureless, containing only two chairs, a table, and a floodlight. I was instructed to take a seat. The entire time, I had been complaining of my arm hurting very badly, and I was begging for my handcuffs to be readjusted. One of the people that was walking me down obliged, and temporarily freed my hands from the cuffs... Which gave me a moment to make a portal and escape. I felt so smug after that.
I mentioned before that I didn't remember much about the second time I ended up in that facility. I still haven't remembered everything. The information seems to be coming to me in a slow trickle. I'll do my best to chronologically order what I've remembered so far.
This time, they weren't playing games. As soon as I was captured, I was handcuffed in these heavy metal cuffs that covered the entirety of my hands. I was quite literally thrown into a cell. It was extremely small, if I were to give an estimate, maybe 6 feet vertically, 10 feet horizontally. There was a bunk bed, a toilet, a small bedside table with a clock on it.
The next thing I remember is... Some kind of test. I was blindfolded, hands behind my back. I felt that familiar drugged feeling, my legs feeling like jello. They also hardly fed me, so I felt weak and miserable. I know I had some kind of... Punishment device on, in case I didn't behave. I think it was a shock collar.
I was tasked to navigate a maze. There was someone around, I could hear their Composition. It was this... Eerie, haunting violin piece. I was supposed to navigate the maze by listening for that person. They wanted to know how accurately I could navigate to people without being able to see.
I don't think the tests went very well. I know at least a couple of times, I walked straight into a wall. Hell, they hardly even fed me when I was successful. These people were stone-hearted bastards. It was like they felt nothing, and therefore, there was nothing for me to leech off of.
The last thing I’ve remembered was another test where I was blindfolded. At least, I’m pretty sure it was a test? I wasn’t drugged this time, but I was... Strangely full. In fact, I was feeling delirious from eating too much, like I’ve mentioned in the past. Almost in a state of euphoria. It felt like I was hardly in control of my body, there was something ahead of me that I needed. I was just standing there, drool running out of my mouth. A calm, female voice said ‘do you want this?’, and I sniffled and said ‘yeah’. She then told me to ‘come get it, then.’ Then, what felt like a hundred-thousand volts surged through my body, and I’m pretty sure I passed out.
I don’t know what ‘it’ was. I don’t know why I was in that delirious state, considering they rarely fed me.
I also think that I had someone that I shared my cell with. He was a teenager, maybe 13 - 15. He wasn’t normal by any means. I hate saying this, but... He looked like a victim of radiation. The skin on his face looked like it was melting off, and most of his hair had fallen out. His arms were wrinkly with excess skin. It was like he had been several times his size, and then was shrunk down to his current state. He also smelled really bad, because they didn’t bathe him enough, so bacteria would thrive in the folds and wrinkles of his skin. He was absolutely miserable. I can’t remember what he sounded like exactly.
I don’t think we liked each other at first. He hated that I was a (mostly) normal looking person. He told me that he used to look normal, too, before they experimented on him, and then he was forced to look like a freak of nature. He told me that they felt like they put me in his cell just to make him feel like shit.
I also didn’t like him, because he was a literal ‘sad sack’. Depression was not a fun emotion to nibble off of. I think the best comparison I have for it would be eating raw, plain tofu. It’s just... Nothing. Yeah, eventually it fills you up, but it’s just... Boring, plain nothingness. I think I tried agitating him a few times on purpose, because of course I did. It didn’t make energy absorption from him any more gratifying, so I gave up on trying to use him as a food source.
We certainly didn’t become ‘best friends’ or anything, but I think we got along more once he realized that I wasn’t there to mock him, and I realized that he wasn’t food, as sad as it sounds.
That’s all I’ve really remembered from the second trip so far. I’ll update if I remember anything else.

Mutual Feelings Pt. 9, [Revali x Reader]
Summary: Smart nerdy stuff that smart nerdy people do
“Incoming!” The small metal hinges on your door shook as a heavy foot collided with the old crackling wood, only making its condition worse. The door flew open, slammed against the wall, and rattled the entire room. If the shelves and desk weren’t bolted to the wall, they would have clattered to the ground or move. Purah stood under the frame with the widest smile stretching across her face.
She was nothing but a lit firecracker. Her smile spoke words of mischief, as it always did, speaking essays and forty-minute presentations without her even having to part her lips.
You slid the papers you were working on under a leather-bound book. She wouldn’t like their contents. After all, they were full of information to the Divine Beasts controls that she didn’t know about. Controls that you added. You could imagine the look on her face if she learned that you were going behind her back to answer the Champion’s requests.
“Morning, sleepyhead.” She waltzed into the room with an energy that dumbfounded you. How she managed to stay in a perpetual state of joy was something that intrigued you, but you had no desire to live through yourself. “Brought you more super royal work! I know how much you love all that jazz.”
“You know me better than anyone.” You joked, turning your chair to face her. “What is it?”
“Oh,” she danced around you to slink toward the window. “you know! Just… some stuff.” The pile of papers in her hands didn’t seem like too much work. There were only two notebooks and maybe a dozen sheets of paper with scribbles all over them. There was one thing you took note of, the princess’s perfect cursive that seemed to glide across the page.
“Some stuff.” You repeated, quickly snatching a paper before Purah could protest. “Zelda’s work?”
“Precisely!”
“Why?” There was no way Zelda would want you messing with her work.
“Well. Big boss-man told her to focus on her powers. That means that you and I, more so you,” she quickly added, “get to finish it for her!”
“She would be furious if I so much as touched this.” You speedily put the page back on the stack that was now perched on your desk. “Are you sure we’re supposed to do this?”
“It’s not so much as finish it. Rather,” she leaned to the right and then swayed to the left, “add it to our work! It’s about the shrines and everything. You know? Science stuff.”
“Is she allowed to continue searching for shrines?”
“Probably not. That means less trips with her for you! Maybe more time to spend with,” she waggled her brows in a suggestive manner, “you know who.”
“Purah, let’s not go there.”
“Oh sweetie, you already went there! In fact, you’re way past there! You’re,” she pretended to cast a fishing hook off into the distance, “waaaaayyyy over there! And over there,” she pointed in the opposite direction, “was the point of no return.”
“You’re insufferable.”
“All in a day’s work!”
“Don’t you have other work to be doing?”
“Nope!” She swayed on her toes, the mischievous smile never leaving her face. “So, are you and Revali like, a thing?”
“It was nice to see you, Purah.” You rose from your desk chair and began pushing her out the door. “Please, visit less.” Her feet halted in the hall. “I’ll send a card.”
“It better tell me you and Revali are dating!”
You slammed the door in her face. You could hear her giggling to herself as she left.
Shortly after meeting Keumi and learning of her situation, you traveled alone to Zora’s Domain to obtain updates on how many shines were identified in the surrounding areas from King Dorephan and Mipha. Sidon, who is Mipha’s brother, tagged along but proved to be little to no help as he was just beginning to learn how to utilize his swimming skills.
While there, you met a peculiar older gentleman who gave off an air of wisdom and vast medicinal knowledge. He was kind, quiet, and understated. Unlike the other Zora, he lived in the outskirts of the Domain. His whereabouts remained a mystery to the other Zora, and he was said to only appear when he sensed illness.
It was surprising when he set foot in the Domain seeking you.
You sat with the medicine man, listening diligently as he told you stories of his many travels throughout Hyrule. He had been everywhere you had and more. The ingredients he collected for treating illness were from all walks of the land.
“What brings you to the Domain?” He asked, folding his wrinkled hands in his lap. The two of you sat on the steps of the Domain.
“Research.” You commented.
“Just research?” He implored, eyes leaving you to look off dreamily to the sky. He closed his eyes, taking in the breeze that blew through the canyon walls. “I think you’re here for far more than that.”
“More?”
“You have someone special to you. Very special,” his gaze returned to yours, “and they’re very sick.”
“How do you know that?” You whispered, eyes going wide.
“It’s all over your face.” He smiled, “And I’m not oblivious.”
The medicine man, Sopho, told you of a mysterious plant with an inimitable name, “Omisaato.” The enigmatic flower heavily resembled the Silent Princess, but with small differences in its shape and the introduction of golden speckling on its petals. It radiated the scent of fresh vanilla bean and only sprouted from the ground once a year in varying locations around Gerudo. Sopho told of its intense healing abilities. When brewed correctly with specific ingredients, it could cure even the most devastating diseases or genetic mutations.
He couldn’t provide you with the exact information you needed but could gift you a descent sized book that he had bought on a trip to Kara Kara. Even if there was no evidence of its existence, it was worth a try.
It could fix her. It could save her.
Though it was only a few days ago, Zelda was growing restless. She was itching to breach the walls and return to the wild where she could spend time with what she loved most. You’d find her lingering in the library for longer periods of time, watching over your shoulder as you sifted through her research notes. She’d practically be dangling from the balcony to see what you thought of her work. It was detailed, far more detailed than you had ever bothered to do. She described the make and model, how many screws and bolts she estimated they have, and where she hypothesized, they led to. With such a small entrance, it had to go down. But where? That was the looming question.
“Why don’t you just join me, instead of scare the hell out of Link?” You turned around to find her wide-eyed, either surprised you called her out or surprised that you knew she was there. With a short nod, she descended the stairs and sat down across from you at the table. Link stood a few feet behind her, looking as uncomfortable as he typically did while he followed her around like a lost dog. “Link, come on.”
He hesitantly sat down.
“My notes.” Her fingers danced across the pages that you piled together. “What are they like?”
“They’re yours,” you let out a tired laugh, “you tell me.”
Many emotions crossed her face in very few seconds. Her eyebrows drew together as she contemplated what she wanted to say next. Link was staring blankly at her, likely wondering the exact same thing as you. Zelda reached out and fixed the stack neatly, ensuring the pages corners lined up perfectly.
“Thank you.” She finally said in a quiet tone. “For saving me when we were in Hebra.”
Catching you completely off guard, you examined her expression, trying to figure out whether or not she was telling the truth. She showed no signs of dishonesty. Her eyes were glossy and large, her fingers rubbed together lightly, and her shaking leg inched the table over with each bounce.
“It’s no big deal.” You gave her a tight-lipped smile. “Guess I didn’t expect being a royal scientist meant experiencing 60 volts of electricity coursing through your veins.” With another smile, she was relaxed and smiling back. “Your notes are good. Detailed to all get out. But we haven’t been able to pinpoint whether the shrines in the different regions vary. I’d like to arrange a trip to Gerudo, sooner rather than later, to examine the shrines there.”
At the mention of traveling, she perked up. Something crossed her face that told you the conversations with her father were resurrected in her mind as she physically slumped a bit.
“We can request it to make ambassadorial relation meetings with Urbosa and for the possibility of finding another spring in the desert. He won’t question that.” You assured her.
“I’ll have it arranged at once.”
The next day you set out with Link, Zelda, and Mipha for Gerudo. Daruk and Revali had decided traveling separately would be faster and more efficient for the group as a whole. Plus, they wouldn’t even be allowed to enter the city so getting there immediately wouldn’t be called for. Zelda was much more pleasant than usual. Her attitude changed the moment you suggested the trip and a way around the King’s tightening rules for the young princess. She didn’t even question the cage you wore on your back meant to house the legendary flower.
Mipha, on the other hand, was curious as all get out. She poked and prodded at it, examining the welding techniques used. Link and Zelda led the group while you walked along side the Zora princess who swam slowly through Aquame Lake.
“What is it for?”
“I’m collecting some samples from the desert to take back and analyze at the castle. Boring stuff.” You laughed it off.
“Fascinating.” She was always so joyful. If there was a definition to innocence, it would surely be Mipha. “I’ve always wanted to do more scientific things. There’s just no time to.”
“You’ve helped me install updates to Ruta. I’d say that’s pretty scientific.” You commented. Mipha smiled, ducking beneath the water for a moment before coming back up.
“I mean with lab goggles and coats!”
“Next time I visit, I’ll make sure to bring an extra.”
“I’d enjoy that!”

Nurcing Leon’s Wounds
Leon is no stranger to getting severly injured. But what would each injury mean to his body realisticly. Before i get annoying by repeating myself, in most cases of injury, it would have been too dangerous and too lethal to even survive any of it. With that out of the way, Let’s begin!
1998: Shot in the chest.
In one of the most infamous sacrifice Leon has done, He takes a bullet to his chest to protect Ada. So what would this injury translate in reality? First of all let’s look at his uniform.
However, unlike what would most people think, a “bulletproof jacket” isn’t exactly bullet proof but more “bullet resistant”. According to the National Institute of Justice’s Ranking of armors, his RPD unifrom should be a level 2 soft amour bullet proof vest. If we assume it’s an 2A level, it should normally be able to stop 9mm ammo heighting at max 124grams for 1225fps. It also includes a shot of a .40 Smith and Wesson bullet at 180grams going at 1155fps.
Looking closer at Annette’s gun, it seems to be a desert eagle.
So, that would mean that Annette’s weapon could be a .50 Action Express ammo magnum. So if it’s truly the case, the ammo should be able to pierce Leon’s armour.
If we compare Leon’s chest to an anatomy dummy :
That would mean the bullet fractured his shoulder blade and could have pierced his lungs. At worst, even ribs can be fractured. Plus, an injury like that is prone to hemorrhage and infection. At the moment of the injury, he’d have chest pain, problem breathing and it be reduced as well.
However , if we apply Ada’s bandaging to a real life situation, that wound would have not worked in the slithest! In an emergency, it is a prirority to bandage the wound to aid breathing since blood and mucus can be inhaled. So, the bandages needs to be closer to the body and be sterile.
Leon should have been dead. ( Good Job , Ada. )
2004: Falling into Wooden Forein bodies
This one instance could have given serious damage to Leon. First of all, the fall would have hurt like hell. Second, that throw was enough to break the closet. There is no doubt that there could have been splinters entering anywhere on his body. I can’t imagine how hard must have it been for Luis to not only be knocked onto the closet by that blow AND be crushed by 78.2 kg or 172.4 lbs (Leon’s weight) on top of that.
2004 : Cut To The Face
Here’s is the BIGGEST mistake Leon as done at that moment: wipping off the blood off his face.
Keep in mind that Leon as contracted loads of stuff that could have contaminated to wound such as anything in the village, las plagas , mud, contaminated water, shattered glass, ect. Not to mention that LEON HIMSELF commented on how vile and dirty the place was :
Seriously, there is too many things that could have infected that cut with this one swipe.
Not only did he never washed to wound properly (like with ointment cream or rubbing alcohol) but it never accured to to him to even bandage it up! According to specialists "New cells have to migrate to the appropriate areas to help with healing. Keeping your scrape covered and moist facilitates this process. Exposing wounds to air does not."
Sure he could have gotten worst injuries from any of the weapons held by a Ganado since, unlike Krauser’s knife, most weapon could have rust. Ence there’s more chance is chance of an infection. But there is an equal chance of infection if the cut was deep.
Here’s what could happen to his wound if it is infected :
The Redness could persist
The Pain wouldn’t subside
The Pus could turn green or get smelly
The wound could get swollen
Leon would feel sick afterwards
2013: Walking on Metro Railways
It should come as no surprise but it is extremely dangerous to walk on a metro’s railway. Doesn’t help that some metros around the world, like the Montreal’s Metro, pretty much showcases that the rails are 750 volts.
Around 10 and 1000 volts would generate around 15-20 amps which means extreme pain and contraction of muscules. Namely he wouldn’t be able to let go of the rails. At 100 to 10000 volts, the amps would be between 100 and 300. Which means ventricula fibrilation ( disturbance to the cardiac rhythym) that could cause his heart to stop, burns, permanent damages or death could happen.
There could be a chance that he could have evaded it because of his dress shoes.
Looking closer at the shoes, they appear to be some Oxford shoes. The likely materials of those shoes is leather and rubber which are poor conductors of elecetricity.
However, keep in mind that, before he reached to metro rails, he walked in the sewers. Unfortunately, it turns out that dirty water could be a good conductor of electricity. Also, running around would cause him to sweat. Since sweat is relatively salty, salty water is also a good conductor of electricity.
Leon would have died even before reaching the Tall Oaks Catherdral.
2013: The Bus Crash
There is many factors , minor or major, that could have injured him! For example, glass, metal and rock chards could have been lodged or scrape him.
The fall itself could have been enough to cause many factures and even concussions.
With this brightened image of the bus, we could have a good idea of how tall was the cliff. First of all, i need to find which bus it is. Thank god there is not much of models for school buses. From looking at multiple references, IC Bus of the BE-Series. We can estimate that the bus is 102 inches wide (2591 mm),and overall weight to be around 10000-36000 lbs (4536-16329 kg).
According to this screen shot, the bus would fit around 7 times. So that would mean that the hill is around 59′5″ or around 18.14 meters tall.
Now that we have the approximate height of the cliff, now we can move on the the impact of the 18 wheeler.
According to my research, i can estimate that the max speed of this truck is 120mhp and it’s minimum weight is 80000 lbs :
So to calculate the force of impact , i need to do 2( mass (36287.39 kg) times velocity ( 53.6448 m/s) ) divided by time of impact ( 0.5 seconds). The impact should be at 3893259.56 newtons of force.
Now to look at the fall! I’ve timed the fall to be 5 seconds ( and 3-4 seconds is slow-mo -ed ). To calculate the velocity of the fall, i need to calculate the distance divided by the time. Which means 18.14 meters divided by 5 equals a velosity of 3.628 m/s. For the kinetic energy, i need to calculate 0.5 x m 3.6282. To make it fair, let’s say it is the average weight of a school bus ( 23000 lbs or 10432.5 kg ). That would mean the fall was of 68658,29 joules of force.
That would mean Leon’s bones would likely shatter if not fracturing his skull. Sorry to say this but i don’t think i’d survive that!
BUT WAIT! THERE’S MORE!
Now to cover the bus exploding!
Unfortunately, the bus crashing and exploding is just an hollywood myth and has been debunked. Or should i say... BUSTED! I remember clearly from my favorite show of all time , Mythbusters , they tested the myth and the car only crashed and nothing more as shown bellow :
The way they made it explode was with their favorite explosive : C4.
However, let’s assest was would it mean to be so close to an explosion like this one even if it would NEVER HAPPEN. To be safe from an explosion like this one, you’d have to be around 3,750 feets away or 1,143 km. But Leon is too close to the explosion. He’d fall around the 1m to 2.7m from the blast of the following chart :
He’d be super dead if a car exploding was a thing. Nevertheless, in a realistic setting, the bus would have NEVER exploded in the first place. You would think people would have pointed that out in quality control and especialy with school busses of all things.
2013 : Flashbang
Sure it looks like nothing but let me asure you that there IS some damage related to a simple flashbang grenade.
Although described as a non-lethal weapon, there is some major downside to those on the recieving end. Namely, 170 decibels at detonation. That is louder than firecrackers at 140 to 150 dB. This would lead to pain and ear injuries. At worst , it could lead to a permanent hearing loss. Not to mention fragmentation of the grenade itself and probably dangerous smoke inhalation is part of the dangers of a stun grenade.
2013: Shot by Derek C. Simmons
First of all, let’s estimate what is the projectile thrown by Simmons. From the shape of it, it seems to be ribs. Here’s the overall range of lenght of any human ribs :
Let’s say Simmon’s ribs are as fast as an M16A1 rifle. The M16A1 fires around 800 round per minute. That would mean around 13.333 rounds per second. I’ve timed the shots to last 2 seconds. So at least 26 ribs as been fired towards Leon. I’m looking frame by frame how many hit him and it seems to have only missed Leon 5 times. So he could have been hit 19 times.
The biggest projectiles would be equivalent of anti aircraft / anti-tank artilery rail gun such as the 8.8 cm Flak 18-36. The smaller projectiles would be equivalent to an anti-aircraft/multi-purpose autocannon such as the Bofors 40 mm gun. Such projectiles could cause pronctures and rips to vital organs and internal bleeding, factures of bones and skul and massive hemorrhaging. That would mean Leon could have died by either the shards hitting his skull, punctered any vital organs or the ribs hitting so hard that it could have severed any celebral nerves.
There is no doubt that Leon took one hell of a beatting that in most situation could have killed him. And i’ve only touched the games and there’s probably some i’ve missed but for now that’s what i’ve been able to muster up into this digital forensic morge. I’ll probably touch on the films as well. NOT THE LIVE ACTION ONES! THE REAL GCI ONES ( so Degeneration, Damnation and Vendetta). But for now, i feel like i ranted for too long and here’s what i’ve been able to come up with.

All You Need to Know About GFCI Outlets
When it comes to electricity, safety has always been a major concern, but thanks to the development of ground fault circuit interrupter GFCI outlet (GFCIs), the risk of being severely shocked or electrocuted is greatly reduced. According to the Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI), electrocutions are down 83 percent since the 1970s when GFCIs were introduced. These quick-to-react outlets are required by law in new home construction, and it’s a good idea to put them in older homes as well. Read on for must-know info on GFCIs—what they are, how they work, and where to install them.
In your home, the flow of electricity is contained within wires covered with rubber- or plastic-based insulating material. When everything goes as planned, the electrical current runs safely through the insulated wires to switches and wall plate outlets and on to the many appliances and gadgets we take for granted today. But in its raw state, electricity has a “mind” of its own, and left to its own devices—as evidenced by most lightning strikes—it makes a beeline for the ground.
A ground fault is the occurrence of electricity taking an unintended path to the ground. It occurs when the electrical current escapes the insulated wires, as a result of a damaged cord or faulty wiring, and flows through a different conductor. If that different conductor is a human being, the result can be a serious electrical shock or electrocution. Because water is an excellent conductor of electricity, the risk of a ground fault occurring is greater in areas of your home where water is commonly used, such as near a kitchen sink.
The singular purpose of a new GFCI outlet is to prevent electrical injury to humans, something regular outlets are not equipped to do. A standard household outlet features two, three-prong plug-in slots, while a GFCI outlet features the same plug-in configuration plus two buttons on its face: a “TEST” button and a “RESET” button. The rules requiring the installation of the GFCI outlets in new construction has expanded over the years to include more applicable locations:
Normally, electrical current flows at a uniform rate through wiring, but when a ground fault occurs, the flow of electricity surges as it jumps to the unintended conductor. A GFCI outlet contains a sensor that monitors the flow of the electrical current through the wires, and when it senses a ground fault (in electrical terms, “fault” means any variation from the normal current), the GFCI, which also contains an internal switch, shuts off the flow of electricity in the outlet.
While you may still receive a painful shock, the South America GFCI outlet will prevent a prolonged surge of electricity, the type that injures and kills. A standard outlet, like the type in your bedroom, doesn’t have a sensor.
The National Electric Code (NEC) requires the installation of GFCI outlets in new construction in areas where electrical outlets are in close proximity to water. Older homes are not required to have GFCI outlets unless the wiring is being updated, but it’s a good idea to install them anyway.
The NEC requires GFCIs on all exterior and bathroom receptacles (another term for outlets). GFCIs are also required on all receptacles serving kitchen countertops. In laundry rooms and utility rooms, GFCIs should be installed on outlets within six feet of sinks, washing machines, and water heaters. They should also be installed within six feet of a wet bar and in garages and unfinished basements.
In bedrooms, living rooms, and other areas where water fixtures are not found, regular outlets are fine—and they are still installed in today’s new homes. The ESFI estimates that approximately 43 million homes in the U.S. still do not have GFCIs installed in “wet” rooms, and notes that as many as 47 percent of today’s electrocutions could be prevented in older homes if GFCIs were installed.
A DIYer with basic knowledge of electrical wiring may be able to replace an existing outlet with a decorative GFCI plate (instructions below), but only when swapping out a three-prong outlet—two plugin slots and a hole. Outlets with only two slots and no third hole indicate the presence of older wiring that should only be replaced by a licensed electrician.
The other caveat is that only outlets connected to three wires are suitable for DIY replacement. Outlets with three attached wires (remove the outlet plate to determine the number of attached wires) indicate that the outlet is located at the end of an electrical circuit (a wiring loop that starts and finishes at the breaker panel). An outlet with five attached wires is located in the middle of an electric circuit, and the wiring process is more complicated—only a licensed electrician should replace those outlets.
Replacing an existing outlet at the end of a circuit (as explained above) is not particularly difficult, but the task requires some experience. You should understand how outlets are wired and how electrical current travels from the breaker panel through each electrical circuit (wiring loop) in your home. Some communities prohibit homeowners from doing their own wiring, so check with your local building authority before you start.
During the recent 2020 code review, panel members of the National Electrical Code (NEC) approved changes to ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) protection. Those changes dramatically reduce the dangers associated with electrical hazard and shock. The most significant change is the increase of amp protection ratings across all receptacle outlets, both indoor and outdoor, wherever GFCI protection is required.
The 2020 change
Code-making panel 2 (CMP 2) updated text to read, “All 125-volt through 250-volt receptacles installed in the locations specified in 210.8(A) (1) through (11) and supplied by single-phase branch circuits rated 150 volts or less to ground shall have ground fault circuit interrupter protection for personnel.” In layman’s terms, the NEC removed amp values across all amp-rated receptacle outlets requiring GFCI protection in the areas listed in this section.
The rationale for change
NEC 2017 language only accounts for 15- and 20-amp receptacle outlets for dwelling units. During 2020 code review meetings, panel members agreed that hazards always exist; if 15- and 20-amp receptacle outlets present a hazard, that hazard also exists on 30-amp and higher receptacle outlets. However, it was difficult to understand the likelihood of a hazardous occurrence when weighed against expanded requirements. Recent home-based electrocution accidents – a 10-year-old girl behind an energized appliance, a child in Oklahoma retrieving a pet behind a clothes dryer, a 10-year-old Houston boy playing hide and seek — helped panel members realize the need for change. In light of these tragic events, we now have a requirement that sets a higher standard across more areas of the Code, though there are some exceptions discussed later in this blog.
What might the future hold?
The NEC mandates GFCI protection in many areas of the home: bathrooms, garages, outdoor receptacles, crawl spaces, basements, kitchens and anything within six feet of a sink or water source. While that may seem like a lot, the entirety of a home is not covered. The reality is when people have a problem with a tripped circuit, it's entirely possible they’ll use an extension cord to plug into a receptacle outlet that's not GFCI protected. Doing so does nothing to eliminate the original hazard potentially caused by the device in use. I hope that NEC members account for the human factor and require GFCI coverage throughout the home during the next code review.
The 2020 change
The NEC expanded GFCI protection for dwelling units with basements both finished and unfinished.
The rationale for change
Often afterthoughts that present unique hazards, basements are typically not as well maintained as other areas of the home. Further, environments are often wet and damp, and moisture is a great conductor. These code updates help ensure that accidents due to factors such as leakage current and contact with water are considerably lessened or eliminated.
What might the future hold?
Many rooms in a home are already required to have GFCI protection. While it feels like the most logical code progression, others in the industry still pushback on requiring GFCIs throughout a home claiming financial concerns or installation problems. As with the parental language update, I believe this code change can inspire discussions to include GFCIs throughout the home.
The NEC expanded GFCI protection under Article 210.63(A) for HVAC equipment and Article 210.63(B) for indoor service equipment and indoor equipment requiring dedicated space.
The rationale for change
Equipment location is at the crux of this update. While HVAC equipment in the basement is covered now that all basement circuits are GFCI protected, HVAC equipment located in attics and other areas would likely not have GFCI protection. CMP 2 recognized that many HVAC areas are typically tight working spaces where technicians perform justified energized work (they can’t troubleshoot a de-energized circuit). In essence, the update assures equipment requiring service has a GFCI-protected receptacle outlet for ready access.
What might the future hold?
Because this is the NEC’s first venture into expanding 210.63, I expect some inspectors and contractors may not see eye to eye on code language. Industry discussions across the country and during future review cycles will help the NEC make future improvements.
The NEC updated the Code for outdoor electrical outlet plates supplied by single-phase branch circuits rated 150 volts to ground or less, 50 amps or less. Key to this update: it extends beyond receptacle outlets to include all outlets. Now all hard-wired equipment falls under the Code’s purview.
The rationale for change
One downfall of the electrical business is that it’s more reactive than proactive, with accidents often the catalyst for change. Numerous incidents inspired this code change, including an accident involving a 12-year-old boy who jumped over a fence and touched an AC condenser unit with an electrical fault. The outer metal housing was electrified and the child was fatally electrocuted immediately upon coming in contact with the condenser and fence simultaneously.
What might the future hold?
GFCI technology is unforgiving in that it’s built to detect even the slightest power variance, and when expanded to include outlets impacting new types of loads, questions arise. With GFCIs installed, leakage-current trips may be near constant, rendering large equipment unusable. In the future, I hope industries rethink products with acceptable leakage current, hertz and frequency values to reduce future compatibility issues.
Further, this change will likely spur discussions related to current GFCI requirements focusing only on receptacle outlets. Hardwiring equipment does not eliminate the electrical hazard. I venture someone will propose public inputs during the next code-review cycle to
The NEC reviewed all locations with a GFCI requirement and aligned with Article 210.8. Updates were made in many locations to include text, such as “in addition to the requirements of 210.8” and similar, to clarify language and eliminate misinterpretation.
The rationale for change
The NEC included Article 210.8(B) for other than dwelling units in 1993. Before its inclusion, builders relied on requirements in later chapters of the Code (chapters five through seven), for safety guidance. For example, RV Park GFCI requirements added in 1978 aligned with 210.8’s 15- and 20-amp receptacle outlet GFCI protection philosophy at that time. NEC 2017 created some confusion when 210.8(B) increased GFCI protection requirements beyond 15- and 20-amp receptacle outlets for other than dwelling units. This presented a challenge: a chapter two requirement applied a generally wider level of GFCI protection. This conflicted with chapter five, which has less coverage of GFCI protection.
The correlating committee recognized similar conflicts exist across industries and formulated a task group that challenged every code panel to look at their GFCI requirements and attempt to align them with 210.8’s 50-amp increase.
What might the future hold?
Each code panel performed their review; some made changes, others did not. There is room for discussion in future revisions of the Code regarding shock hazards in the special other than dwelling unit applications. I believe the NEC will soon increase its focus on GFCIs and hopefully add clarity as each application in chapters five through seven approaches GFCI protection differently.
While representatives in agriculture and RV industries have valid concerns about nuisance tripping, I believe the NEC should revisit Article 547 for agricultural buildings and Article 551 for RVs and RV parks to address valid shock hazard concerns and consider increasing GFCI protection to 50 amps.
The rationale for change
Farming and RV industries rely on circuits that operate at well over 20 amps, yet no safety requirements exist. Much of the equipment used in these industries can be quite old with leakage current a serious concern. In my opinion, the Code lacks parity in how safety requirements exist in some industries and not in others. That must change.
The studies needed to promote change exist. The University of Iowa and the University of Nebraska have uncovered many incidents where farmers lost their lives due to faulty agricultural electrical equipment. Further, RV “hot skin,” a situation where the entirety of an RV’s outer housing becomes energized due to electrical faults, can kill in an instant, as was the case when a young boy died when touching an RV. If RV parks and farms running 30- to 50-amp receptacles without GFCI protection is not deemed a concern worth addressing, how can anyone claim running 30- to 50-amp receptacles outside of dwelling units is a hazard? Common sense dictates both are hazards and change is necessary.
What might the future hold?
I appreciate that equipment compatibility issues on farms and at RV parks may require much time and financial capital to resolve. However, I cannot condone sitting idle as lives are lost. I hope a series of discussions during the next code review cycle inspires commissioning an NFPA Fire Protection Research Foundation study to further understand the implications of expanding GFCI protection beyond 15 and 20 amps in RV parks and farms. Let’s study the problem, understand the challenges and determine solutions that increase safety.

2020 Nissan Leaf Plus review: More power, more range

2020 Nissan Leaf Plus review: More power, more range
The Nissan Leaf Plus is quicker and will take you farther than the standard model.
Jon Wong/Roadshow
Range anxiety in electric vehicles is a very real thing. It’s akin to the fear of your phone going dead, but instead of not being able to check Twitter for the latest hot takes, you’re stranded on the side of the road — hopefully with a charged phone so you can summon a tow truck. In the Nissan Leaf’s case, an EPA-estimated driving range of 149 miles isn’t miniscule, but you know what would be better to alleviate range worries? A range of 226 miles, which is where the Leaf Plus comes in.
Like
Smooth and quick acceleration
Seamless regenerative and mechanical brake integration
Impressive list of safety technology
Don’t Like
Less driving range than competitors
Light, uncommunicative steering
Steeper base price than the opposition
Better equipped to compete
Unlike 2011 when the first-generation Leaf went on sale, the EV landscape today is much different. The Nissan is no longer the only electric hatchback in town, with entries like the Chevrolet Bolt, Hyundai Kona Electric and Kia Niro EV now in showrooms. Each boasts well over 200 miles of range, leaving the base Leaf and its 40-kilowatt-hour battery pack far in the rearview mirror.
The Leaf Plus officially arrived last year with a bigger 62-kilowatt-hour battery. In the base S Plus trim, it returns the previously mentioned 226 miles of range, but the better-equipped SV Plus and SL Plus models with more options that use up power receive an official rating of 215 miles. Without question, those numbers are a healthy improvement over the standard Leaf, but still lag behind the ranges of the Chevy (259 miles), Hyundai (258 miles) and Kia (239 miles).
2020 Nissan Leaf Plus: Going farther and quicker than before
See all photos
Throughout a week with an SL Plus tester, the 215-mile rating seemed easily within reach. I never let the battery dip much below a 30% charge because of range anxiety but was comfortably on track to cover 215 miles of motoring using the electron-sipping Eco mode.
Activating the e-pedal system yields strong regenerative braking the moment you lift off the right pedal. The regen brakes are muscular enough to bring the Leaf Plus to a complete stop for a one-pedal driving experience. It’s mildly entertaining driving it this way and satisfying when you navigate through town without touching the brake pedal. Being smooth and timing your throttle inputs correctly pays off as you cover more ground and hardly see the battery charge gauge drop.
When you do deplete the Plus, juicing it up with a 240-volt, Level 2 charger takes 11.5 hours. A neat thing about the Plus is that the standard charging cable handles both Level 1 and Level 2 charging. So, instead of spending money installing a Level 2 charger at home, owners can simply have a 240-volt outlet to plug into. As for Level 1 charging from a normal household outlet, that takes north of 30 hours.
If you live near a 100-kW DC charger, you’ll be able to charge a drained Leaf Plus to 80% in 45 minutes.
Jon Wong/Roadshow
For those who live near a 50-kW DC charger, the Leaf Plus can charge from 0 to 80% in an hour. If you’re fortunate enough to have access to a less-common 100-kW DC charger, that’ll cut charge time for a dead battery to 80% to 45 minutes.
More power
The other welcome improvement accompanying the Plus’ upsized battery is a power jump. The regular Leaf is no slouch with 147 horsepower and 236 pound-feet of torque, but nobody will protest an increase to 214 hp and 250 lb-ft. All that thrust is transmitted immediately to the front wheels through a single-speed transmission getting the Leaf Plus to 60 mph in about 7 seconds, which is roughly a second quicker than the standard model. There are zero issues getting up to speed for expressway merging and passing maneuvers are a cinch. More than its 0-to-60 time, I’m impressed with how rapidly the Leaf Plus accelerates from 40 to 70 mph and beyond.
Straight-line slingshots are about the extent of the fun in the Leaf Plus from a performance standpoint. Depending on trim level, the Plus is about 340 pounds heavier than the base Leaf, and that doesn’t help dynamics. There’s some dive under braking and roll at turn in. The low-rolling-resistance 17-inch Michelin Energy Saver A/S tires squawk in protest when you throw it into a corner and stability control intervenes right away to get things in order.
A more powerful battery also means that the Leaf Plus is quicker, with 214 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque.
Jon Wong/Roadshow
Ride quality is, however, buttoned up and comfortable on the 50-series sidewall tires. Impacts from bigger bumps are still felt inside the Leaf’s cabin. The handoff from regenerative to mechanical braking is seamless, with stopping force progressively increasing as you press the pedal. The steering is light and devoid of any feedback, but that’s fine along with the less-than-stellar cornering chops. The Leaf isn’t supposed to be a sports car.
A Leaf inside and out
If you’re expecting the Leaf Plus to look much different from the standard Leaf, then you’re going to be disappointed. Besides an additional blue accent strip on the front fascia and the Plus badge on the hatch beneath the trim level designation, it looks like every other Leaf. And that’s not an entirely bad thing. The Leaf wears a fairly aggressive face with Nissan’s signature V-motion grille, subtle side character lines and five-spoke wheels with a contrasting silver face and gray insets.
Inside, there’s nothing to write home about, either. It features the Leaf’s high seating position, blue accent stitching here and there and plenty of hard plastic making up the whole dash and portions of the door panels. Fortunately, the plastics are nicely finished, and strategic spots are wrapped in vinyl and padded, such as the armrests, the middle of the door panels and the side of the center console, where you might rest your knees.
Jon Wong/Roadshow
Space in the Nissan’s front- and second-row seats is serviceable for most adults and there are enough cubbies to stash items throughout the cabin. The Leaf can also move quite a bit of cargo, with 23.6 cubic feet on offer behind the rear seats, which grows to 30 cubic feet with the second row folded forward.
Quarterbacking infotainment in the Leaf is the NissanConnect system with an 8-inch touchscreen that doesn’t have the most vibrant graphics. It’s a feature-rich system with a nice Bose audio setup, satellite radio, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In the SL Plus, it also has onboard navigation, which often takes a little bit of time to calculate routes.
NissanConnect’s graphics are looking dated.
Jon Wong/Roadshow
On the active safety technology front, all Leaf models come standard with forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning and rear cross-traffic alert with rear automatic braking. On my SL Plus test car, Nissan’s ProPilot driver assistance tech is also included, using adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist for partially automated, hands-on-the-wheel motoring that works incredibly well in traffic.
How I’d spec it
I always try to keep my builds as budget-conscious as possible, but with the Leaf Plus, I have to spring for the SL trim. Optioning the midgrade SV will have me adding a couple of option packages to get must-haves like heated seats and LED headlights, bumping the price tag to near-SL levels. Splurging on the range-topping model costs $44,825, including $925 for destination. Tack on the $695 two-tone black and white paint job like on the car pictured here and $195 floor and cargo mats, and that brings the bottom line of my ideal car to $45,715. Sadly, that’s not much more affordable than this $46,045 tester.
With all the bells and whistles and a couple of options, this SL Plus test vehicle punches in at a hair over $46,000.
Jon Wong/Roadshow
A better Leaf, but not the benchmark
The 2020 Nissan Leaf Plus will set you back $39,125 to start, which is more than the $37,890 Chevy Bolt and $38,365 Hyundai Kona Electric, but more affordable than the $40,210 Kia Niro EV. All three of the Leaf’s competitors offer a bigger dose of style, are more engaging to drive and, most importantly, offer longer driving ranges.
What the Leaf has working in its favor is a sizable list of standard and available safety tech features, and the fact that it’s the best-selling EV to date has surely created some Nissan loyalists. But to anyone new to the EV world with no previous allegiance to brand or model, the Leaf Plus likely isn’t the best option in the affordable EV hatchback segment.

Rising Covid-19 cases scare hospitals with insufficient ventilators. One firm is scampering to change that

Rising Covid-19 cases scare hospitals with insufficient ventilators. One firm is scampering to change that
As cities and hospitals across the globe are overrun with coronavirus patients, the acute shortage of medical equipment has been the biggest problem. In fact, so acute is the problem of shortage of equipment that doctors in Italy have to play god in deciding who lives and who dies. As more and more people are getting admitted in hospitals across India, the fear now is that the requirement of critical care equipment such as ventilators, sanitizers, masks, and scrub suits should not lead to a similar predicament. This acute shortage has the tendency to impede India’s fight against Covid-19.
At the heart of the demand is the urgent need for ventilators. Covid-19 can lead to severe lower respiratory tract infection, which means patients often need ventilator support. But what is the status of ventilators in India? According to Johns Hopkins University, the demand for ventilator demand can be as high as 1 million in the country. Current availability in India is estimated to have between 30,000 and 50,000 ventilators. It says the US has about 160,000 and is running short in most places.
To deal with this crippling shortage of medical equipment, the Union government, on Tuesday, banned the export of ventilators, sanitizers and other ICU equipment with immediate effect. AgVa Healthcare, a Noida-based startup, which has built a cost-effective portable ventilator is lending a hand here in ramping up the production and supply of ventilators.
“We are working to manufacture 20,000 units in the next 30 days,” Diwakar Vaish, co-founder, AgVa Healthcare told ET Digital.
The government has reached out to the company to manufacture 5,000 ventilators by April 15 to help hospitals facing a shortage of the equipment across India.
Tablet-shaped ventilator Set up in 2017, Vaish founded AgVa Healthcare with the aim to replace the traditional heavy and bulky ventilators in hospitals with a portable one that resembles an electronic tablet. In 2016, Vaish, a robotic scientist, witnessed how patients in AIIMS New Delhi were unable to be discharged from the hospital and would reside there for years as they are ventilator-bound. To change this narrative, Vaish along with the team from AIIMS developed a portable, low-cost ventilator, which will enable patients to take the ventilator home with ease.
“The device is priced between Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 2 lakh. Meanwhile, the traditional ventilator costs somewhere between Rs 4-5 lakh, therefore, our device costs nearly one-fifth of the existing ventilators in the hospitals,” he said.
He added that that whenever they disclose the price to doctors, they are always met with a surprised reaction as doctors are often unaware of the existence of a cost-effective ventilator.
The robotic scientist-turned-entrepreneur explained that the ventilator is not only small in size, but also has advanced features than the existing ventilators. While existing ventilators need external oxygen supply and medical air to run it, AgVa’s ventilator runs on room air. The bulky ventilators used in hospitals are not at all user-friendly and require technical expertise to understand, whereas AgVa’s ventilator, which weighs less than 3 kg, has a simple touchscreen interface which is easy to understand and can be run using an Android-powered phone. This makes the ventilator very user-friendly for the patient’s family and relatives to operate from home.
The portable ventilator does not require any installation or configuration, it is a simple plug-and-play system. “It uses only 20 watts of power and can be run on both 220 Volt and 12 volt ambulance sockets,” he said.
Till date, around 600 AgVa ventilators have been installed in hospitals pan India and they also have a good presence in Tier-II and III cities.
Bottlenecks Amidst the ongoing pandemic, the firm is working hard to increase the production capacity. However, according to Vaish, there might be certain bottlenecks which are hampering this opportunity. With the government imposing lockdown in the country, many manufacturing plants and factories have been shut down.
“All domestic freight shipping has been stopped. A lot of manufacturing packages and parts were coming from international companies such as DHL and others, but now they have all shut down their operations. Therefore, the overall supply chain has been hit due to the recent lock down. So there are a lot of restrictions due to which we have not been able to freely move,” he said.
He also said that many international orders that the company had had to be cancelled as currently they are focusing on the problem in hand in India and cannot cater to other parts of the world.
While supply chain and logistics are one of the foremost challenges that AgVa is facing, Vaish added manpower too in the list. “We do not have people who are ready to work or come to office during this pandemic. Everything seems to be against us at this point of time, but we are still trying our best and we will definitely get things in order.”
The company is increasing its labour force manifold, completely revamping overall manufacturing infrastructure and also strengthening its production lines to address the growing demand of such medical equipment.

Samsung Galaxy M31s Full Review
Samsung Galaxy M31s Detailed Review
Samsung Galaxy M31s incorporates an Infinity-O AMOLED Display.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
The Samsung Galaxy M31 figured out how to have a decent effect in the spending fragment on account of its fresh AMOLED show and a major battery, which recognized it from the opposition. Samsung has now propelled its replacement, called the Galaxy M31s. The new Galaxy M31s sports an Infinity-O show and the Single Take camera include the two firsts for the Galaxy M arrangement. Beginning at Rs. 19,499, do these new highlights legitimize the more significant expense? I survey the Galaxy M31s to discover. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Samsung Galaxy M31s plan: Premium looks The Samsung Galaxy M31s has a to some degree new structure that makes it stand apart contrasted with its kin in the Galaxy M arrangement. It gets a 6.5-inch Infinity-O show with an opening punch installed camera focused at the top. I have seen such a structure on the Galaxy Note 10+ ₹ 83,400 (Review) and the Galaxy Lite twins. As of late, the Galaxy A51 (Review) and Galaxy A71 likewise propelled with comparative presentations, so a similar structure on the Galaxy M31s makes it look premium. The bezel size is satisfactory at the cost, yet a couple of individuals may discover the camera gap in the middle a bit of diverting. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Samsung has gone with a side-mounted unique finger impression scanner on the Galaxy M31s, which is on the privilege alongside the volume catches. These catches can be reached while holding the cell phone in the hand, yet need somewhat of a stretch. I would have favored the volume catches on the left, which just has the SIM opening. The USB Type-C port, 3.5mm sound jack, and speaker are at the base while the top has an auxiliary mouthpiece.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
The telephone has a plastic back, which Samsung alludes to as 'Glasstic'. It has a polished completion and gets fingerprints without any problem. I needed to continue cleaning the back as often as possible to keep up its polished look. Samsung offers the Galaxy M31s in two slope finish alternatives, Mirage Black and Mirage Blue. I had the Mirage Black rendition for this survey, and I loved the look by and large. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The Galaxy M31s has a quad-camera module at the back that seems to be like the one seen on the Galaxy M31 ₹ 16,499, however, the sensors moved around. The module likewise houses the single-LED streak. The Galaxy M31s has a 6,000mAh battery, which makes it weigh in at 203g. You will feel the mass when holding this telephone for some time. The back is bent at the edges, however, which makes it somewhat less awkward. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Samsung Galaxy M31s determinations: Same old Samsung is staying with its Exynos 9611 once more, to control the Galaxy M31s. We have seen this processor in various Galaxy cell phones presently including the Galaxy M21 ₹ 15,999 which is estimated under Rs. 15,000. The Exynos 9611 SoC is a demonstrated processor however I was expecting Samsung to utilize something more up to date and all the more impressive. The Exynos 9611 is an octa-center processor with four execution Cortex-A73 centers timed at 2.3GHz and four effectiveness Cortex-A53 centers timed at 1.7GHz. The cell phone is accessible in 6GB RAM and 8GB RAM alternatives, however, the capacity stays unaltered at 128GB. You do have the choice to extend capacity by up to 512GB utilizing a microSD card. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); There is support for Bluetooth 5, double band Wi-Fi air conditioning, and GPS just as double 4G and VoLTE. Samsung has packaged a 25W USB Type-C charger in the case, which is a first for the Galaxy M arrangement. You likewise get a USB Type-C to Type-C link that can be utilized to turn around charge different gadgets utilizing the Galaxy M31s.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Regarding programming, the Galaxy M31s run OneUI 2.1 on the head of Android 10. My audit unit had the July Android Security fix. The UI is fundamentally the same as what I've seen on other Galaxy M arrangement cell phones that I've surveyed, for example, the Galaxy M31 and the Galaxy M21. The arrangement procedure prompts you to introduce a couple of applications, and much in the wake of skirting that I discovered Candy Crush Saga, Snapchat, Netflix, Facebook, and OneDrive preinstalled on the gadget. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The Galaxy M31s likewise has the Galaxy Store application which is an option in contrast to the Google Play Store. The telephone has Glance Lock Screen Stories, so you will see special photographs and stories on the lock screen. You can handicap this whenever required. I saw a couple of notices from the My Galaxy application every once in a while. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); You do get the choice to tweak the vibe of the UI utilizing the subjects application. The Galaxy M31s additionally has other helpful programming highlights, for example, double applications, which let you run two cases of the equivalent application. You get Android's Digital Wellbeing highlight, which causes you to screen your cell phone use and a Game Launcher which clubs all the games introduced on the gadget in one spot. There is a Game Toolbar also, which lets you square warnings and full-screen signals and offers in-game screen recording. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Samsung Galaxy M31s execution and battery life: Holding back The Samsung Galaxy M31s has a somewhat dated processor however this didn't affect everyday execution. I didn't experience slack or stammer while experiencing the menus and utilizing the default applications. I had the 6GB RAM variation, and it could perform multiple tasks between various applications without any problem. In any case, stacking substantial applications took longer than expected.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
I saw the side-mounted unique mark scanner as brisk to open the gadget. Face acknowledgment was helpful yet not the quickest I've utilized. The presentation on the Galaxy M31s is fresh, has acceptable survey points, and gets brilliant enough outside. The camera gap the inside could be diverting particularly when watching recordings. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); In the wake of utilizing the Samsung Exynos 9611 out of a couple of different cell phones, I had a reasonable thought of its exhibition, and the Galaxy M31s didn't astound me with its benchmark scores. In AnTuTu, it scored 192,550 focuses, which is lower than contenders, for example, the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max and Motorola One Fusion+, which accomplished 277,058 and 273,407 individually. In Geekbench 5's single-center and multi-center tests, it scored 346 and 1,252 individually. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Illustrations execution isn't solid either, and the gadget could just hit 42fps and 14fps separately in GFXBench's T-Rex and Manhattan 3.1 tests. The Motorola One Fusion+ oversaw 55fps and 21fps in similar tests. I played PUBG Mobile on the Galaxy M31s, and the game defaulted to the High preset with illustrations set to HD and the casing rate to High. I could play the game at these settings with no stammer. The gadget got warm to the touch in the wake of playing for 20 minutes. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The Galaxy M31s offers great battery life and went on for near two entire days with my utilization. In our HD video circle test, the cell phone continued for 24 hours and 2 minutes, which was amazing. Samsung brings down the screen brilliance when the battery dips under the 15 percent mark, however. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The provided 25W charger rushed to revive the battery, taking it to 34 percent shortly and to 65 percent in 60 minutes. Charging the telephone totally took barely 90 minutes. By and large, the battery execution is superb, and gratitude to switch charging, you can utilize the Galaxy M31s' 6,000mAh ability to charge different gadgets after all other options have been exhausted.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Samsung Galaxy M31s cameras: Mixed sack The Samsung Galaxy M31s sports a quad-camera arrangement. The 64-megapixel essential camera has an f/1.8 opening. There's likewise a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-point camera with a 123-degree field of view, a 5-megapixel full-scale camera, and a 5-megapixel profundity sensor. The camera application is fundamentally the same as what I've seen on other top-end Samsung gadgets. It has the Single Take highlight which conveys a wide assortment of yield incorporating photographs with pre-applied channels, just as hyperlapse and boomerang video impacts, rather than simply shooting a basic video cut. It additionally has a Pro shooting mode which lets you assume full responsibility for the settings. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); The Galaxy M31s makes 16-megapixel efforts as a matter of course by binning the yield of its 64-megapixel essential sensor. In the sunshine, the telephone rushes to meter light effectively and the AI can recognize scenes rapidly. Photographs taken in light were sharp and had satisfactory detail. Text in the photographs was readable significantly in the wake of amplifying to 100 percent. You do have the alternative to go after the full 64 megapixels yet we favored the comfort of the default 16-megapixel goal.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
The wide-point camera offers a more extensive field of view yet there is bending, and photographs are twisted at the edges. The goal is sufficiently high that you can edit into these shots, however, the degree of detail is lower contrasted with what the essential camera produces. Close-ups had great detail, and the telephone can deal with a delicate bokeh impact for the foundation which looks pleasant. The Galaxy M31s has a Live Focus mode for pictures, which lets you set the degree of obscure before making an effort. The large scale camera lets you get very near a subject however it didn't figure out how to catch hues well indeed. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I tried out the Single Take highlight, which gave me various yields for the recording I recorded. This thought behind this component is to guarantee that you don't miss a second. In the wake of hitting the shade button, the telephone records for around 15 seconds and offers different alternatives including the absolute best, a few channels, a keen yield, hyper-lapse, boomerang, and the first video. The photographs and the video it conveys were of a lower goal.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Samsung Galaxy M31s daylight wide-angle camera sample (tap to see full-size image)
In low light, the Galaxy M31s oversaw respectable shots and held clamor within proper limits. The wide-edge camera didn't play out that well, however. Shooting photographs in Night mode brings about some trimming.
The yield isn't definitely more splendid however it improves detail.
The Samsung Galaxy M31s has a camera sensor of 32-megapixel and captures an object of 8-megapixel by default and 12-megapixel ones if requires a wider frame. In the sunshine, the telephone figured out how to catch great detail yet you have to keep it consistent subsequent to hitting the shade button for a fresh shot. It gives you the alternative to catch representations utilizing the Live Focus mode, and oversaw great edge recognition. Low-light selfies didn't offer a similar sort of detail.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
Samsung Galaxy M31s low-light camera sample (tap to see full-size image)
Samsung Galaxy M31s close-up sample (tap to see full-size image)
Video recording finishes out at 4K with the essential camera just as the selfie shooter. There is adjustment for video yet we saw a sparkling impact in the yield at 4K, while 1080p film was better. In low light, I saw a shine in the yield at the two goals. Decision (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Samsung's Galaxy M arrangement is reliably well known, and the organization has been propelling new models into the market quickly. The Galaxy M31s is the replacement to the Galaxy M31 (Review) and gets a new look, the new Infinity-O AMOLED show, and quicker accusing of a higher limit packaged charger. It holds the equivalent 6,000mAh battery and maturing processor, however, which could prevent purchasers from putting their cash down. The camera execution is fundamentally the same as what the Galaxy M31 accomplished, and the new Single Take highlight conveys fascinating outcomes yet the tradeoff is lower-goal yield. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); On the off chance that battery life is your essential worry, there are not very many telephones that approach the Galaxy M31s' presentation. Be that as it may, you could set aside yourself some cash by going for the Galaxy M31, if its all the same to you the more seasoned style dewdrop score. On the off chance that you need better an incentive at this value point, the Motorola One Fusion+ (Review) and the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max (Review) are commendable other options.

This measure, accordingly to complaint dappled by MacRumors, performance of the cheaper design is timeline to go into bulk composition in January 2020, with the, contemplate piercing event at the purpose of March. Previously, it was related that the iPhone SE 2 pierce would occur somewhere during Q1 2020, but we’re joyful that the prize has been constricted down immensely and hopefully, Apple will pierce it during the expected timeline. Alleged iPhone SE 2 Hands-on Video Shows Light-Blue Colored Shell, With the Home Button Making a ReturnMass produce of the untried fork was already slated to start betimes in 2020, but a precise moon wasn't preparing. The iPhone SE 2 is stay to repose on LCD technology rather than the more high-priced OLED, and accordingly to beforehand proclaim echo, Apple was in prate with LG Display, with last-record peculiarity hindrance being bear out. Looking at this profitable chance as well as keep Apple’s countenance for to come partnerships, it’s highly promising LG would have made the necessary struggle to supply Apple with the demand components in an early air. iPhone SE 2 Specs & Pricing - Here’s What We Know so Far While the iPhone SE 2 pierce has been constricted down, a division of customers would penury to save throughout the potential specifications and charged of the fashion too. From what we cane so deeply, iPhone SE 2 specs will include up of Apple’s A13 Bionic, conjugated with 3GB of LPDDR4x RAM. Unlike the iPhone 11 wander, the iPhone SE 2 is thought to castle with much thicker bezels and a Touch ID-empower domestic bud. We signior's expect Apple’s 3D Touch will force a comeback on this scheme, with the iPhone SE 2 in lieu of trust in haptic audio feedback. The look for stowage dummy being proffer by Apple in the coming could rove between the 64GB and 128GB offerings. Now, what’s the most excitant furniture throughout this coming iPhone SE 2 plunge? The reward of succession. If notoriety transform out to be correct, Apple’s upcoming 4.7-island example will lead from $399 in the U.S., doing it a transcendent excellence problem for consumers who Mr.’t scarceness to satisfaction new property for an iPhone and still get large ironmongery in response. 2020 is precisely pregnancy to be an excitant year when it comes to plunge and customers who have an oldening iPhone dummy can pattern up a contemptible sufferance and preparation themselves for the iPhone SE 2 plunge next year. Source: MacRumors Products recount in this post iPhone 11 iPhone SE The grounds above are adopted golf links. The hoped-for successor, iPhone 9, which is promising to pierce the next lunation has been a much-anticipated restore for the iPhone SE, pierce back in 2016. Several rumors and hold were floating around for the ended leash of yonks present iPhone SE 2 in the manufacture and former story have also been inspiring Apple had destroyed those plot buffs. Regardless, the iPhone SE successor had also been in the report away the spent few months and narrate present that Apple would go with it’s efficacious and most beloved iPhone 8 project, which has been the average from the renovate iPhone 6 purpose since it’s plunge. Apple had antecedently adopted the accomplished plan tasty of the iPhone 5 for the iPhone SE, pierce four donkey’s years since. Well, it now seems the successor could be subsequent the same with Apple’s next beloved iPhone 6 – iPhone 8 formality element, for the iPhone 9 plunge next moon. Apple is expected to disengage a new translation of its moderate-pain iPhone SE this year, harmonious to manifold tell from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Bloomberg, and the bursal intelligence vent Nikkei Asian Review. The telephone will reportedly favor the iPhone 8 and could dislocate at $400.Here's a examine at everything we' ve auricular circularly it so remote supported on young narrate. Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stage. Apple typically plunges its renovated showcase iPhones every September. But this year, it may moment a contrivance in that copy with a modern, cheaper iPhone first appearance in the shoot. The California-supported tech enormous is contemplated to pierce a modern ver of its smaller, less high-priced iPhone SE for the first measure since 2016, correspondingly to recite from TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Nikkei Asian Review, and Bloomberg. Such a pierce would give Apple more space to content with Android call makers likely Samsung and Google, both of which sacrifice cheap alternatives to their pricey flagships. Here's a examine at everything we cognize helter-skelter the secondary-stock iPhone SE so remote supported on these narrate. Read more: Apple may plunge a new transformation of its minute, cheaply iPhone from 3 donkey’s years past, and it could be exact as decisive for Apple's trade as the iPhone 11. Introduction and DisplayApple has begun the successor of the 2016 diverse of the iPhone SE in the system of iPhone SE 2. The lath sacrifice does not contend much inbound of designate and flagship the same observe resembling insipid sides, top, and bottom bezels and Touch ID. The front-facing Seat knob doubles up as a fingermark lectrice. The Apple iPhone SE 2 is intention at users who promote a mean and firm chief French telephone. The smartphone wave a 4.2-island Retina IPS spread out which is double with HDR technology. The spread-out is clear and bright which rises in an unmatched optic enjoy. The shelter on the artifice comes with Ion-X hourglass which champion the Apple iPhone SE 2 from efface. Camera and battery Apple iPhone SE 2 comes with a 12-megapixel raise and a 7-megapixel front-facing snapper. The lift cast sensory also is double with faze-perception AF, and a double-mood LED flash lamp that coöperate moderate-publicity photos and videos. Users can humor in video profession besides tick selfishness-portraits worn the 7-megapixel front-facing shoot-'em-up. For influence, the Apple iPhone SE 2 nurse moisten from a no-removable Li-Po 1,624mAh battery which is virtuous enough to last for a pure Time for a lessen use. Performance and PlatformAt its hearten, the Apple iPhone SE 2 is provided with a baffling-random access memory Apple A10 Fusion chipset and 2GB of RAM to surrender primary-alike accomplishment to its users. You can employment on more than two apps simultaneously without sluggish down the completion or undergo any inferior. On the software front, the smartphone go iOS 11 out of the present. Connectivity and storage Apple iPhone SE 2 is cue along with all the banner connectivity wishing which inclose 4G with verify for VoLTE, GPS, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, and a USB 2.0 reversible connector. For fund apps and other data, users get 32GB of real warehousing rove which cannot be wide any further.
This is the religious pack. Am I direct? The whole peculiarity of holding the 4-island formula constituent is to keep it slender. But will Apple puzzle with the same coverage as the iPhone SE? or will we see something fully separate? KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (via MacRumors) suppose a flame-death exasperate-to-exasperate iPhone is titled our road. Though Kuo isn't implicated that this is the iPhone SE 2 we're a haven for, he does Saw it'll be a few hundred dollars less than the iPhone X and be the minute of three iPhone X fashion intend. Two fresh OLED dummy butt exalted-destruction nundinal; fresh TFT-LCD shape endeavor at grave-destruction & midrange offer: We expect the mayor ironmongery variety in the two renovated OLED shape is dimension, in a pray to meet several necessarily of the dear-close nundinal. The recent TFT-LCD shape will disagree way from the OLED fork in ironmongery and project specs (for motive, the PPI will be decrease). The immediate cheat characteristic of the TFT-LCD fashion may be the innovatory use meet of a mixed full-shade project and 3D sensation with a frown recompense attach (we await it will promise to be US$649-749). On the other workmanship, a "dodgy" tittle-tattle newly came out that Apple won't be shifted the indicate of the iPhone SE at all. Instead, the insides will get some spec upgrades. If Apple destitution to keep the suffering of the iPhone SE fire, we're not handsome to see a miniver of the iPhone X. If, however, Apple's severe to compensate the 4-force call frequency, price be abominable, we may get all the commanding shape of the lath and top iPhone in an itty-bitty packet. Will the iPhone SE 2 have Face ID? For the above pair of donkey’s years, Apple had been convoy events in March, to sacrifice its office, liking Apple News+, Apple TV+ and also introduction refrigerate iPad shape as well in title to the iPhone SE plunge in 2016 too. Following the footprints of the forerunner, the iPhone 9 could also be conveyed up the top-of-the-line specifications, such as the A13 Bionic central processing unit, which commands the iPhone 11 succession throng in an iPhone 8 representation. However, there could be a plot of dealing-separation to constitute it a suffering-effectual iPhone by falling other wealth shapes from Apple holds OLED parade, manifold cameras, and FaceID as well. The relate further insinuate that the anticipated iPhone 9 could be navigation with iOS 13.4 out-of-the-spar as the next conversion iOS could only be announced at WWDC this year, most pleasing in June syn by an untried determine of iPhones (iPhone 12 thread) in September, inferior this year.
The iPhone SE 2 will most likely plunge seasonably this year, perhaps in March. Business Insider/Steve Kovach Apple will promising appearance its renovated iPhone SE in the first part of this year. The society is diagram to exorcize number bear a recent less liberal iPhone in February in foresight of a March plunge, harmonious to Bloomberg. Kuo, who has a notable honor when it comes to describing on unreleased Apple products, also antecedently above-mentioned that the call will be liberated in the first friendship of 2020, harmonious to 9 to 5 Mac. The Japanese fiscal gossip vent Nikkei Asian Review also tell in September that Apple would extricate a fresh mound-charge iPhone in dart 2020. Apple, by and large, divulge its unworn iPhones in the become, but it's not unwonted for the party to pierce other unaccustomed products in the leap timeframe. In March 2019, for sample, it pierce a recent set of AirPods and unspent iPads. It also pierce the inventive iPhone SE in March of 2016. The fresh iPhone SE will reportedly appear probable the iPhone 8. Jack Taylor/Getty Images While the primitive iPhone SE expect probably the iPhone 5S, the next transformation will reportedly waft image to the iPhone 8.That's harmonious to Bloomberg and Kuo, who above-mentioned as much in two novel billet tell by 9to5Mac. Nikkei Asian Review also echo that Apple's cheaper fresh iPhone would have a 4.7-island show impartial resembling the iPhone 8, which Apple generally imposition for $450.If the iPhone SE 2 is largely supported on the iPhone 8, that abject it will agreeable hire the dwelling knob and may have only one left-facing camera. In the last few weeks, a share has arrived our respecting the iPhone 9 a.k.a the iPhone SE 2 a.k.a the next burn-side iPhone from Apple. Apple is thought to coming back in the grinder-Rs 40,000 section to totter up the fair with its fire-suffering iPhone. Similar to the iPhone SE from 2016, the iPhone 9 is expectation to be an unspent ring that Apple will constitute out of the existent goods present in its ability hutch. It may not right electric but an unspent iPhone with the lath specifications is always an expanded chap under Rs 40,000. The iPhone SE from 2016 was Apple's first move ring and a modern ver. of it invoke the iPhone 9 or iPhone SE 2 might be fond out this leap. The clock couldn't arrive any before since talk of an iPhone SE 2 have been filtered for a leash of yonks. That's for back when the inventive iPhone SE was announced, it was an immense confound. It came out six months after the piercing of the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus with conformable specs, but had the call-back appear of the beautifully blocky iPhone 5S. When the iPhone SE path on the market, Apple had afflicted guardianship up with the query.

TIL that in India, you can buy a new 7 passenger SUV which has basic underpinnings derived from the Willys Jeep CJ-3B from the 1950's. Here's a brief history of these strange Indian Jeep-lets
Some of you might know that Mahindra recently introduced the Roxor to the United States. It's a small Jeep-like vehicle designed purely for offroad use, like an ATV, and is not allowed to be driven on public roads.
Fiat-Chrysler took an issue to this, but ultimately, Mahindra won the legal battle and is now manufacturing and selling the Roxor in the US market. Part of the rationale for this ruling was that Mahindra has been producing Jeeps for a long time!
Mahindra has been producing offroaders based off the CJ-3B since 1949. These models were dubbed the "Mahindra CJ", and eventually came in two variants: the four seat CJ 340 and the six seater CJ 540. The truck was initially produced with a Willy's F134 engine, displacing 2.2 liters and making 74 horsepower. and 114 lb ft of torque Since 1979, they came equipped with the Peugeot 2.1-liter XDP 4.90 diesel engine, making 64 horsepower. Later versions used the Peugeot XD3P engine, which I can't find power figures for but made 75 hp in the Peugeot 505. Throughout this time period, the transmission offered went from being the 3 speed BorgWarner T90 typically used in Willys and Jeep products, to the Kia KMT90 4 speed; both seemed to have been paired with the T18 four wheel drive transfer case. During this time, Mahindra also made the CJ500D for government fleets, utilizing a 2.3 liter International Harvester B275 diesel engine from its tractor range, making all of 38 hp and 86 lb ft of torque, propelling the off-roader to a meager top speed of 45 mph, while the more powerful Peugeot and Willys powered versions seem to top out at anywhere from 55 60 60 mph.
The MM540 was launched in 1986 and was mechanically identical to the CJ 540, but had two proper doors and a soft top This was a departure from the traditional open top models which had been offered before. The MM775 followed in 1992, and was revolutionary in the sense that it was now produced as a fully enclosed, long wheelbase metal body with the option of two or four doors. The "Mahindra Jeep", as the models were affectionately known as in India, was now looking like less of a Jeep and more like a modern SUV, even though it shared the same stone-age chassis and underpinnings as its predecessors.
The Mahindra Armada began production in 1993, and was essentially an improved MM775 with an updated design, featuring rectangular headlamps and a heavy plastic grille and bumper; and more creature comforts, including more comfortable seats, a regular dashboard, and gasp optional air conditioning! The top speed of the Armada with the 2.5 XD3P was around 75 mph. It came in only one body style: a 4 door SUV. This was the first 4 door SUV produced in India, and paved the way for other manufacturers in the blossoming market for sport utility vehicles in India, which could cope with the often-unpaved roads in the country with their four wheel drive and their high ground clearance . As a result, SUVs are now extremely prevalent on India's roads and have come to be the family shuttles of India's upper middle class.
The more spartan and utilitarian Mahindras continued to be produced under different names, from the spartan Major to the Wrangler like Thar to the cab chassis Maxx. The MM and CJ models eventually ceased production in 2010. They continue to have a cult following among India auto enthusiasts, with forums like Team BHP having an immense amount of discussion about the models, many users drawing from their personal experiences with the trucks.
Finally, we move on to the Mahindra Bolero, which has been in continuous production since 2000. It is an updated version of the Armada. After the previously socialist, protectionist Indian market opened itself up to foreign trade in the 1990's, the Indian market was bombarded by foreign automakers trying to grab a slice of the pie in this developing market. As a result, Mahindra faced stiff competition in the off-road and SUV markets from both other homegrown Indian options like the Tata Safari and Sumo and the Force Motors Trax, as well as foreign competitors like the Chevrolet Tavera, the Toyota Qualis, and the Mitsubishi Pajero. As a result, the Bolero was Mahindra's attempt to compete in this increasingly diverse and cut-throat marketplace with a more modern SUV geared more towards family motoring and on-highway driving rather than offroading. The updates included a more modern design, a five speed manual transmission, air conditioning, keyless entry, power steering, CD/MP3 capability, and a 12 volt port. The Bolero comes with an in-house developed, 2.5 liter inline four turbodiesel engine making 75 hp, or a newer 1.5 three cylinder "mHawk" turbodiesel engine with 71 horsepower, with an estimated top speed of 80 mph. The Bolero is extremely common on the streets of India no matter where you go. Although it is a people mover which India's middle class are drawn to because of its spacious and comfortable interior, it nonetheless retains its humble, venerable origins with its chassis still being an adaptation of the old Jeeps.
Going back to the Roxor, here's a Jalopnik piece that goes into great detail about the similarities between the all-new, American-spec Roxor, and the old Willys CJ.
Interestingly, the relationship between Mahindra and Jeep extended beyond offroaders; Mahindra built the FJ Series of minibuses based off the Jeep Forward Control, as well as the FC pickup truck.
Today, Mahindra's model range has expanded far beyond their utilitarian offraoders, with everything from minivans to crossovers to Dacia-based subcompacts to electric city cars to even a German-style coupe SUV. Here's their current lineup
It's likely that the Jeep-based Balero and Thar will cease production soon, being replaced by two SUVs on a brand new platform. Renderings predict a Wrangler-resembling design. This will mark the end of a long line of Mahindra offroaders sharing the same tired and true Jeep platform, dating back all the way to the 1950's. It will be the end of an era in Indian automotive history, with these trusty little trucks serving generation after generation of Indian consumers; these off-raoders have seen India transform from a poor rural nation a decade removed from being the victim of colonialism, into a rapidly developing and urbanizing Asian power with a population of over a billion and a half
Anyhow, if you've made it this far, props to you! Just wanted to do a writeup of what is just a small part of India's automotive history and explain its connections to a vehicle which is well known to American enthusiasts
Here's an article I found after I finished most of this writeup, detailing the exact progression of the Mahindra Jeep lineage. It's a bit of a TL;DR

Best Ultrasonic Dog Bark Control Device Reviews 2018
As we promised in the introduction, this section will provide you with detailed reviews of top 10 ultrasonic dog bark control devices on the market. It will help you get an idea of what’s out there before you start your search.
1. DOGTEK Sonic Bird House Bark Control Outdoor/Indoor
Our first product on this list, The DOGTEK Sonic Bird House, is a birdhouse/outdoor ultrasonic device that can also function indoors as well. And with this versatility, it’s no wonder this product is considered one of best on the market.
For instance, the 50-foot range is one of the features that make this product top-notch. Although it’s little bit shorter distance than I’d envisioned, I’m confident it’d fulfill my dog’s needs. After all, it’s really about where you set up the device anyway.
Also, the fact that most customers were satisfied with the results this device provided is a positive sign. Often, customer reviews give you incredible insights into a product’s quality.
In this case, it appears the product lives up to the expectations of most customers. I also like the fact it’s weatherproof, as I would need this device to survive out in the wet environment where I live.
But the one feature that I love is the three sensitivity settings this device has; see, these settings allow you to control at what barking level the device activates.
In other words, you can control how much barking is too much barking. For instance, if even a little barking makes your head become a thumping nightmare, you can set the device to the highest sensitivity.
With this device in action, these thumping nightmares will become a thing of the past. Now, I don’t mind my dog barking a little bit, so I’d probably set it on the lowest possible setting. After all, it’s a natural instinct.
However, there were some faults with this product that I took issue with: the price and the durability. At this price, I expect a product to be durable and it seems like that isn’t the case with several reviews complaining about the design being flimsy and prone to becoming broken.

The majority of reviews report that is effective for their dogs.
50-foot range
Weatherproof
XL ultrasonic loudspeaker with three built-in bark sensors.
It has three sensitivity settings and a test mode allowing you to adjust at what level of barking the device responds.
Things We Didn’t Like
Expensive
It can become broken quickly
With the high price and durability issues, I don’t envision myself investing in this device. It isn’t cost effective and won’t be a smart purchase. It has to be a no-buy for me.
2. Lambow Mini Bark Control Device Outdoor
The Lambow Mini Bark Control Device is another device that fits under the birdhouse/outdoor ultrasonic device umbrella. In doing so, it has many features that would fit my particular circumstances.
For example, it has a sensitive microphone that I love. See, this microphone can pick up barking from 50-feet away. As someone who lives in a rather dog-populated area, this ability would help my circumstances immensely.
Even though I don’t feel terribly comfortable using the device on the neighboring dogs, the company’s reputation for being high quality lessens my worry. In fact, it almost erases it completely.
Furthering this product’s sense of high quality, the product’s design is another aspect that I adore. See, the design’s incredibly practical as it can easily be hung from an object like a tree, fence, or lamb post. Also, this aspect makes it easy to hide from the dogs that can hear the sound it’s emitting; therefore, this is a pretty excellent feature in my estimation.
Along with having an excellent design, it’s also waterproof further cementing in my mind the excellence of this fantastic product. Being waterproof or weatherproof is an essential aspect I need in any outdoor ultrasonic dog bark control device I consider.
Oh did I forget to mention the incredibly low cost? Well, it’s a critical component that you should make note of when researching these devices. Honestly, this device’s price will be hard to beat.
But sadly, there’s a reason it has such a low cost; the battery isn’t included. However, even with the additional fees you still come out with a bargain compared to some of the other products on this list.
Things We Liked
A sensitive microphone that picks up barking 50 feet away
30 day back guarantee
Incredible low cost
Designed to easily hang on a tree, fence, or lamp post
Waterproof
Things We Didn’t Like
Batteries not included
Overall, this device might be the one for me. Even with the additional stress of finding right battery, I still think this product is worth every penny, especially, for someone looking to get a strictly outside anti-bark device.
3. Zomma Bark Control Device
The Zomma Bark Control Device has all the features I’m looking for in an anti-bark device. In fact, it’s incredibly similar to the previous item reviewed on this list. However, there’s one improved aspect of this model that I find incredible: the design.
See, this device is bone-shaped and I find that to be adorable. I know, it seems like it isn’t a big deal but it’s a nice little feature you don’t expect from a mechanical object such as this device.
I’ve always found this type of thing find themselves mattering way more than they’re supposed to in my decision making. However, this product’s high quality makes me less guilty about allowing it to be a massive part of my decision.
And as previously stated, it has all the features I’m looking for: waterproof, at least 50 feet of range, a refund policy, easily placed outside, and an affordable price. I feel like each of these things are must-have qualities for any ultrasonic anti-bark device I’m considering.
In a sense, this device is everything I loved about the Lambow Mini Bark Device except its bone shaped and cost a little bit more money. It even has the same issue as the other model: the battery isn’t included.
Now, this isn’t a big deal because 9-volt batteries are pretty inexpensive and the device only needs one. So, it’s okay that this device is a little bit more expensive than the previous one.
Things We Liked
Durable and waterproof
Offers refund
50-feet range
Bone-shaped
Easily dangled from an object like a tree, fence, or post
Affordable price
Things We Didn’t Like
The battery isn’t included
Overall, it’s a little freaky how closely related these two products are, but I think I’d take this device over the previous one for a simple reason: the design. The bone shape is too cute to pass up, especially, when it’s only a few more dollars.
Honestly, I’d recommend this product to anyone looking for an outside ultrasonic anti-bark device. It’s the perfect model.
4. Elenest Anti Barking Device
Another outdoor anti-bark device, the Elenest Anti-Barking Device, fits right in with the other top-notch products on this list. Due to this, it’d be a worthwhile choice for any dog owner facing a barking dog issue.
Just like the other products before it, it has a 50-foot range giving your dog more than enough room to roam around and play outside without their barking becoming a problem. For my circumstances, a 50 to 75-foot range would be ideal, so, this device fits in perfectly.
And the range isn’t the only aspect that fits my needs; I love the birdhouse design these models have, especially, this one. I can already see it sitting on a tree in my backyard. I definitely need it with my dog’s obsession with chasing and barking at the fast-moving squirrels.
Moreover, this device also has three adjustable sensitivity levels: low, medium, and high. Just like I explained in the first product review, this feature’s inclusion gives you more control over the training experience. It allows you to dictate the barking level at which the device responds.
With this feature, I wouldn’t have to worry about the device being too punishing towards my dog. I could set the setting to a level where I feel comfortable and go on about my day knowing I won’t get complaints about my barking dog.
Besides the sensitivity levels and the birdhouse design, there’s one other unique aspect this device comes with that’s worth acknowledging: the inclusion of the hanging rope. I know, it’s a little thing, but it’s nice when the manufacturer tries their best to make our lives easier.
In a small way, it shows they care, and it helps me feel confident about their product. But there’s one little issue that has me a little worried about this particular device; there was a collective agreement among reviewers about it being ineffective will small breeds.
Things We Liked
Birdhouse design
Affordable Price
50-foot range
Three adjustable sensitivity levels (low, medium, high)
Hanging rope included
Things We Didn’t Like
Doesn’t effectively with small breed dogs
Since my dog isn’t a small breed dog by any stretch of the imagination, I’d usually have no problem buying this device for my dog. However, this issue does trouble me because a lot of my neighbors’ barking dogs are smaller breeds like Chihuahuas; so, I’d have to think about this device before buying.
5. PetSafe Outdoor Ultrasonic Bark Control Birdhouse
As you could tell from the name, it’s another birdhouse designed anti-bark device. This particular one is a pretty run of the mill model, but there’s one aspect of this product that makes it an exciting addition to this list.
See, there are two versions of this particular anti-bark device: standard and deluxe. Now, the standard is pretty well, for lack of a better word, standard; however, things get interesting when you look at the deluxe.
For example, the deluxe includes a built-in timer, which you can use to set on/off presets. I find this feature to be fascinating because with it you can preset the device right when regular barking triggers arise such as the arrival of the mailman/mailwoman or you’re going to mow the lawn. Both of which happen to be powerful triggers for my dogs.
Moreover, these presets save the device’s battery, and that can save your bank account a bit of money. And it also has a low battery indicator to ensure you know when your device needs a battery change.
Aside from the deluxe version having the presets, there’s nothing too exciting about this product. But sadly, there are some flaws worth noting. In some reviews, it was reported that this birdhouse ironically made dogs bark more rather than stopping it altogether.
I’m pretty sure that’s the exact opposite of what we want to happen. It also doesn’t help that the battery isn’t included which is a real bummer because the price isn’t that affordable.
Things We Liked
50-foot range

Durable and weatherproof
There are two available versions: standard and deluxe (has a built-in timer for on/off presets)
Low battery indicator.
9-Volt battery
Things We Didn’t Like
With some dogs, it makes the dogs bark more
Batteries aren’t included
Overall, I do like having the option of picking between two versions, but that doesn’t work for me when the product might not provide me with a bark-free zone. Therefore, I’m going to label this device a no-buy.
6. Dog Dazer II Ultrasonic Dog Deterrent
Our first handheld ultrasonic device, the Dog Dazer II Ultrasonic Dog Deterrent, is perfect for any dog owner that wants to control their dog’s barking on walks, runs, or in the park. It’s also excellent for people merely looking to avoid barking dog interactions.
In my case, the best aspect of this particular device is the handheld remote. See, this remote allows the owner to control the entire training experience. It allows you to quickly ingrain the right times for your dog to bark and the wrong times.
Of course, this particular device wouldn’t do much good in my house. My dog tends to bark the most when I’m not home; therefore, making this specific type of anti-bark product not worthy of consideration.
But as mentioned above, some people would benefit from this high-quality device and the features it has like being lightweight/easily portable could be a godsend for them.
Another excellent example of a beneficial feature is the low battery indicator. It’s a lifesaver because you wouldn’t even notice the device was dead until it was without this add-on.
And all of this comes at an affordable cost. There’s nothing like getting a quality product at a price that isn’t too taxing on the wallet. But there are still some issues with this device that are quite worrisome.
For instance, its lack of range; 20-feet is a pretty short distance for an anti-bark device. And for my circumstances, it just won’t be ideal. Also, some customers reported the product stopped working after a relatively short time and that’s just something you don’t like to hear.
Things We Liked
Gives you complete control with a handheld remote
Lightweight and easily portable
Affordable cost
Low battery indicator and belt clip.
Things We Didn’t Like
Some customers complained it only worked for a short time.
20-foot range
In the end, this device was never in serious contention for me. However, I could see how it could be valuable to someone who’s has a dog that gets bark aggressive during walks or for a person trying to do their job and is tired of getting barked at such as a mailman/mailwoman.
7. First Alert Bark Genie Handheld Bark Control Device
With this ultrasonic handheld bark device, there’s nothing extraordinary about it. If any word could describe it, it’d be ordinary. But where this device separates itself is in its convenience. Everything about this product is about being as simple to use as possible.
With its focus on easy usage, the feature I love most is the adjustable wrist strap. See, I tend to lose everything, and I promise you without this wrist strap I’d misplace this device in about a week. So, in my eyes, it’s a lovely addition to an otherwise run of the mill product.
Even though this product’s pretty unextraordinary, it does have a reputation for working on all dog breeds, again speaking to its ability for putting the person using it at ease. I don’t think I despise anything more than a product that doesn’t do what it promises it can.
With this device, this would be a non-issue. However, this product sadly doesn’t fit what I’m looking for in an anti-bark device. It’s just not the type of ultrasonic bark control device I need; therefore, my dismissal of it has nothing to do with its quality.
But if I were in the market for a handheld ultrasonic device, I still wouldn’t pick this one because of the one area in which it fails; it’s range. The fifteen feet this product offers its customers isn’t enough for my particular needs.
In fact, it falls vastly short, and it’s an area I can’t compromise that significantly. Also, fitting into the recurring theme of the products in this article, it doesn’t come with batteries included. So, it looks like it failed to be convenient in at least couple areas.
Things We Liked
Affordable cost
Works on all breeds
Lightweight
Adjustable wrist strap for easy carrying
Things We Didn’t Like
Limited range at 15 Ft
Batteries not included
All in all, this device isn’t what I’m looking for in an anti-bark device; however, it could be an excellent option for someone who wants a simple, straightforward way of curbing a dog’s barking.
8. PetSafe Ultrasonic Remote Trainer for Dogs and Cats
As an ultrasonic handheld device, the PetSafe Ultrasonic Remote Trainer is a marvelous product for a variety of reasons. In my personal opinion, this item is my favorite ultrasonic handheld device on this list.
See, unlike the other handheld options, this fantastic piece of equipment has a range up to 30 feet. With this type of range, I could actually see this working in my backyard; this is a drastic difference from similar products on this list.
Also, it has the unique inclusion of having both positive and negative tone buttons. This feature is something I can’t praise enough. I love the fact that I could use these tone buttons to enforce what I consider good and bad behaviors.
It’d make would training so much easier in every aspect. In fact, I might get this device just merely for the potential it has for training sessions. I mean, imagine how much quicker each training session would go with how fast this device can communicate positive and negative reinforcement.
Regardless of its potential effectiveness in training sessions, there’s also another interesting aspect that caught my eye; the manufacturer made it known it would be useful for cats as well. As someone who has both cats and dogs, this multi-animal use could be incredible.
But, no product isn’t without its flaws, and this device was not an exception to this rule. As you expect from any ultrasonic anti-bark device, it wasn’t effective with certain breeds according to customer reviews.
Things We Liked
30 feet range
Positive/negative tone buttons to reinforce good and bad behaviors
Long battery life
Can be used on cats as well
LED light for low/full battery
Things We Didn’t Like
Some breeds don’t respond to the device
If you couldn’t tell, I’m planning on buying one of these, but for training rather than anti-bark purposes. It’s what I imagine anyone looking for a handheld ultrasonic device could want. I mean, it has everything.
9. Frienda LED Ultrasonic Dog Repeller and Trainer Device
Our last handheld ultrasonic device, the Frienda LED Ultrasonic Dog Repeller and Trainer Device, lacks a standout feature but makes up for it in affordability. But being the low costing item on this list, doesn’t mean it can’t get the job done.
For example, this device has the adjustable wrist strap that I loved in the First Alert handheld review. This feature just adds a certain level of comfortability that lends itself useful to a product like these devices.
Additionally, I think the LED flashlight add-on is a pretty decent feature to have considering you never know when you’re going to need a flashlight. And since it’s so lightweight, it’s easily portable; therefore, there’s no burden luging this device around.
And it might be the easiest product to use on this entire list. You just put the battery, turn on the switch, and then you’re ready to stop that annoying barking from ruining your life. As a person that hates over complicated mechanical things, I can truly appreciate something as rudimentary as this anti-bark device.
It also has the added perk of coming in two different colors, yellow and black, so, you can choose according to your style preference. There’s nothing ever wrong with giving your customer color options. I know, I never complain.
But as with most low-cost items, there are a couple of issues. For this particular device, the problems come in two areas: durability and effectiveness. See, I read multiple reviews that complained about the device breaking and having trouble working on certain dog breeds.
In my estimation, an anti-bark device having issues in either area is problematic and make it hard to justify purchasing this product.
Things We Liked
Low-cost
Comes in two different colors: yellow and black
Can serve as a flashlight when necessary with LED light
Easily portable
Simple operation
Wrist strap
Things We Didn’t Like
Issues with durability
Issues with effectiveness with certain breeds
With its glaring weaknesses in durability and effectiveness, I can’t recommend this product in good faith no matter the cost. But if you’re on a budget, there have been some positive results according to the customer reviews. So, maybe you’ll get lucky.
10. PetSafe Indoor Bark Control Ultrasonic Pet Training System
The last product on our list, the PetSafe Indoor Bark Control Ultrasonic Pet Training System is ironically also our first strictly indoor ultrasonic unit.
As you can expect from any PetSafe product, this device is built well enough to succeed in its given purpose. For example, it’s can either be used manually or automatically, which is something I find to be incredibly useful.
With the ability to switch back and forth from manual to automatic, there’s no reason you should ever be unprepared to stop a dog from barking inside your home. Honestly, this switching ability would be perfect in my house.
I mean, my dog does tend to bark more when I’m away, but that doesn’t mean he stops barking when I’m home. It’s an ongoing battle that he seems to be winning. At least with this device, I’d stand a chance.
Along the same lines, the 25-feet range is more than enough space indoors. There’s no way he could escape the boundaries of this device inside our home. If it wasn’t for one issue I can’t overlook, this device would be a perfect fit.
This issue is the fact multiple customer reviews have stated this product is set off by yelling humans. As an avid sports fan that likes to scream when his team scores, this issue could become very problematic for my poor dog.
Things We Liked
Water-resistant
25-feet range
6-month battery life
Reduces barking within 2 weeks
Manual or automatic
Things We Didn’t Like
Can be set off by human voices
With the issue mentioned above, I don’t see how buying this device would end up benefiting my dog or me. So, I can’t see me putting money into something I don’t envision having a successful outcome.
What is an ultrasonic dog bark control device?
First and foremost, an ultrasonic dog bark control device is a form of anti-bark control. Its entire purpose is to save you from the mind splitting headaches a continually yapping dog can provide.
Now, its method isn’t as harsh as a shock collar or as direct as a spray collar, but in some cases, the ultrasonic sound it emits can be just as effective. See, the device simply reacts to a dog’s barking by releasing a sound that only your dog can hear.
Once they stop barking, the device will stop emitting the sound. It’s a pretty simple, but relatively effective device. Of course, things get little problematic when the dog doesn’t seem to care about the sound.
And this will happen with some dogs. It’s just in their nature to be stubborn. However, this reaction is considered rare and given the alternative forms of bark collar; these devices seem a lot more humane in comparison.
But as with most pet-related products, there’s some debate about whether these devices are entirely safe. After all, we can’t hear the sound, so, we don’t know how damaging or powerful it’s to the dog.
But in my personal opinion, if you find a reputable manufacturer such as the ones in this article, I think you shouldn’t have any worries about these concerns. The companies mentioned in this article are known to do extensive research into the quality and safeness of their products.
Therefore, both you and I should feel comfortable buying these devices and using them to our benefit. And as you’ll see in the section below, there are many types, so, you can easily find one that will fit your personal preference.
Types of ultrasonic dog bark control devices
There are four main types of ultrasonic dog bark control devices: birdhouses/outdoor ultrasonic devices, handheld ultrasonic devices, ultrasonic collars, and indoor ultrasonic units.
As you would expect, each type has its own method of emitting its deterrent sound. And below, we’ll cover the basics of each type to give you a better idea of which one you’d prefer.
Birdhouses/Outdoor Ultrasonic Devices
Most people who are looking to stop a noisey neighborhood dog from yapping up a storm use a birdhouse/outdoor ultrasonic device. These devices allow you to put up a defense against your neighbor’s dog secretly by blending into the background.
As you’d expect from the name, most of these devices are shaped like birdhouses, but they do come in other shapes and sizes. It depends on what type of model fits best into your backyard.
However, with these devices it’s essential you find the highest quality one available to ensure it won’t pose a health risk for your neighbor’s dog. I’d personally feel a little uncomfortable using these devices on another person’s dog.
But they can also be, effective in stopping your dog from becoming that yapping nuisance for your neighbors. In a sense, these devices exist to keep neighborhoods quiet.
And in doing so, keep a lot of people from getting headaches. Honestly, it’s a pretty noble thing these devices can provide communities. I mean, nobody likes complaining about a barking dog and with these devices it becomes a non-issue.
Handheld Ultrasonic Devices
Among anti-bark products, the handheld ultrasonic devices are incredibly convenient because you can carry them around and have the ability to curb your dog’s barking in the palm of your hand. See, these devices are little remotes with a sound mechanism inside capable of emitting a sound deterrent.
In a sense, it allows you full control over when you want your dog to bark and when you don’t. You’ll never have to worry about your dog barking on a walk or when the mailman comes to the door; you just hit the button, and it stops.
However, if you’re not present, this device is useless. Nothing is stopping your dog from just waiting until you’re not around and then letting out their headache causing yapping.
Due to this, I’d recommend this product to a dog owner who has a problem with their dog barking for protective reasons. However, if your dog is barking cause of squirrels or other similar distractions, it’s best you opt for another type of device.
Ultrasonic Collars
If you’re considering an ultrasonic collar, it’s quite evident that the problem is your own dog. After all, it’d be a little weird to put a collar on another person’s dog. In fact, it’d be downright crazy.
With this in mind, it’s essential you understand the features that come with these collars. For example, most ultrasonic collars are going to come with other correction options such as shock or vibration.
If you aren’t comfortable with the idea of having a shock option, you must find an ultrasonic collar without this feature. It might be hard, but they do exist.
At the end of the day, it’s all about making sure your comfortable with the product you’re buying, And as someone who very weary of shock collar related products, I’d personally stay away from ultrasonic collars with the shock feature.
Indoor Ultrasonic Units
These devices are very similar to the outdoor devices. However, there are some subtle differences in the features. For example, outdoor devices need to be waterproof, and indoor ones don’t.
Likewise, they have a different type of design to help them hid into the décor inside your home. For example, there’s no reason you’d have a birdhouse indoors; therefore, they’re more likely to look like smoke alarms or other indoor items.
Otherwise, there isn’t much of a difference besides they’re meant to stop your dog’s barking rather than the neighborhood dogs. I’d recommend these devices to someone who has a barking problem centered around people/animals outside the windows of their home.
In other words, if your dog is always barking at squirrels outside your bedroom window, one of these devices might be perfect for you.
How does ultrasonic dog bark control device work?
Regardless of the type, the way each device works doesn’t change much. Therefore, I’m merely going to go over the basics of how these devices work in general. It will help you further understand the exact training experience your dog will encounter.
In the simplest terms, an ultrasonic dog bark control device works by using a tone to deter your dog from barking. Whether a microphone on a collar or a remote control in your hand controls this, these devices use this sound to stop the barking from continuing.
Over time, the hope is your dog will start associating the sound with the barking. In doing so, they’ll soon understand that barking is what makes the sound enter their ears and avoid doing so unless necessary.
In the end, these devices call on negative reinforcement to curb your dog’s barking a lot like a spray collar or shock collar would. However, the use of negative reinforcement with these devices can be considered a lot more humane than either a spray collar or shock collar.
In my personal opinion, I would consider these devices to be the most humane with the right model and manufacturer. But if you end up buying a low-quality version, I could see how these devices could be problematic.
See, the main problem is the owners can’t hear the sound. Due to this, it’s impossible for us to evaluate how much damage the noise could do. But high-quality manufacturers employ smarter people than you or I to research this issue.
Therefore, if you buy a high-quality manufacturer such as the ones mentioned in this article, you shouldn’t have any worries about these devices damaging your dog’s ears.
Benefits of using ultrasonic dog bark control devices
As with all products, there are pros/cons to using these ultrasonic devices. And in this section will briefly go over both the positives and the negatives of these devices to help you decide whether or not buying one is a good idea.
Things We Liked
Can use it on annoying neighborhood dogs
Portability
You can’t hear it
Less expensive than other options
Four different types allowing you to choose your personal preference
Works well on smaller dogs that are less stubborn
Things We Didn’t Like
The device can’t tell if your dog’s barking at a squirrel or because they need to use the bathroom
All dogs in the area are punished
Peoples voices can activate certain models
Some smaller dogs barks won’t activate certain devices
Some dogs will be unfazed by the sound and continue barking
Now, I know that’s a long list of cons, but a lot of these can be avoided by getting the best ultrasonic dog bark control device for your circumstances. And the next section will help you determine what model is perfect for you.
Factors to consider when buying an ultrasonic dog bark control device
In this section, I’ll go over some things you’ll need to consider before deciding which ultrasonic dog bark control device is perfect for your dog. This section will help you understand the variety of factors that will end up molding your decision.
Type
As you read in section four, there are four different types of ultrasonic dog bark control devices, and each one has circumstances where it’d be most effective. Due to this, it’s important the type of device you pick fits your particular needs.
For example, let’s say your dog is a non-stop indoor squirrel barker; your desired option would probably lie between two types, indoor ultrasonic units or a handheld ultrasonic device.
On the other hand, let’s say your dog is the yappy neighborhood nuisance; in this case, you’re probably going to want a birdhouse/outdoor ultrasonic device because it will have the features that will be capable of dealing with weather elements.
In the end, it’s all about matching your needs with the device’s capabilities to get the best ultrasonic dog bark control device possible.
Battery
When considering one of these products, you must know the type of batteries the device takes. Seems like common sense, right? Well, it’s still crucial knowledge regardless.
In general, you’ll have to replace the batteries in 3 to 6 months from the initial use. Most of these devices will have a LED light that will let you know that the device needs a battery change.
In my opinion, the LED feature is a must because it can be quite easy to forget the device is even there. After all, you can’t hear the sound it emits. So, try and find a model that has this feature that way you won’t have to worry about this becoming an issue.
Range
One of the most critical aspects you’ll have to consider is the product’s range. Now, most of these devices have a range up to 50 feet. It’s the industry standard for an ultrasonic dog bark control device.
However, there are some that have a range extending all the way to 150 feet. And of course, there’s everything in between. So, you must decide what kind of range you want your device to have.
For me, I’d have to opt for the 75 feet range because my backyard is pretty big; therefore, I’d like to ensure I’m completely covered.
Sound/Sensory Levels
Most ultrasonic dog bark control devices are going to have three sensory and sound levels. They’ve got these levels so you can adjust both the sound’s intensity and the device’s sensory range.
Therefore, make sure you don’t get duped into buying a device without multiple sound or sensory levels. It’s crucial to creating a safe and bark-free environment. And it ensures you can adjust the levels to the point of peak effectiveness.
After all, you don’t want to return one of these devices unless it’s needed. It just isn’t something anyone likes to do.
Design
Unfortunately, some of these devices are downright ugly. In other words, these products aren’t something you look forward to showcasing inside your home. This consideration might seem like it’s unnecessary and outlandish.
But, I don’t want you buying one of these devices and not take into account that you’re going to be looking at it a lot. Furthermore, you don’t want these devices to attract a lot of attention; you want them to blend into the background.
In the end, there should be an attractive enough model available to fulfill your style preferences. So, don’t settle for the ugly model just because you aren’t looking to spend a lot of time researching the ultrasonic dog bark control device market.
After all, isn’t that what I’m here for, to help you find the best ultrasonic dog bark control device for your needs? So, don’t settle and consider how you want your device’s design to look.
Safety
The most significant safety measure you can take is making sure you’re buying from a reputable manufacturer. You don’t want to get swindled into buying a fault model as it might pose a severe risk to your dog’s health.
Due to this, the first thing you should do is read reviews about any ultrasonic dog bark control device you’re considering. It will help you garner whether or not the product you’re looking at is high quality and worth your time.
Honestly, your dog’s barking might be annoying, but the effort to stop it shouldn’t put their health at risk. In fact, if you have any doubts about a device you’re researching, it’s best to move on immediately.
Frequently Asked Questions
Even with all the above information, I bet you still have a couple questions about these devices. In this section, we’ll try to cover the remaining questions you have and give you complete peace of mind regarding your feelings about these devices.
Do ultrasonic bark control devices work?
In general, these devices do work. But it depends on the dog. Some dogs won’t respond to the sound emitted from these products. It’s unfortunate, but it’s the reality of the situation.
However, the companies making these products know this issue and are pretty considerate with their warranties. So, make sure the company you’re buying from has a warranty just in case the device isn’t effective on your dog.
And even they don’t offer a warranty, don’t take that as them having confidence in their product. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Most likely, they’re trying to deceive you and make a quick buck off a deficient product.
Where to buy ultrasonic dog bark control devices?
As with most products these days, the best place to buy an ultrasonic dog bark control device is online. Sites like Amazon will more than fill your needs as a consumer.
So, don’t overthink this decision, there’s a reason why Amazon is the leading marketplace in the entire world right now. But if you don’t feel comfortable buying from Amazon, other sites could help you find the perfect device.
For instance, Chewys is always an excellent secondary option, or even eBay might be a worth a look. Besides those three sites, you could always try your luck at a PetSmart or Petco near your home.
But one thing you should never do is buy straight from the manufacturer’s website. The prices on these sites will generally be higher than what you would find on Amazon or even in a pet store like Petco.
How to use ultrasonic dog bark control devices?
Since there are several different ultrasonic dog bark control, it’s difficult to generalize the usage of these devices. But typical, it’s pretty self-explanatory. Honestly, the set-up should be outlined extensively in the manual accompanying the appliance.
But in most cases, the device will detect the barking and emit a sound that will hopefully deter your dog’s barking. For example, let’s say you get an ultrasonic collar; the microphone on the collar will recognize the barking and emit the deterring sound.
Overall, none of these devices will be that hard to use and should cause you very little stress during the setting up phase.
Conclusion
Deciding whether or not you want to buy an ultrasonic dog bark control device can be an overwhelming decision. After all, you don’t want to purchase something that will cause your dog harm.
Honestly, that’s every dog owner’s worst nightmare. So, I hope we helped you alleviate any questions or concerns you had regarding these devices. Remember, with the right manufacturer, they’re 100% safe and ready to help stop your dog’s barking.
But the trick is finding the right manufacturer for your personal needs, and that’s what we hopefully helped you do. And if you don’t feel comfortable using these devices, that’s okay too. We have other buying guides that might be more your speed!

We found a nice city Run Campground to spend the night. We got up early to catch our 8 a.m. flight to the island, got there in plenty of time, and waited almost 2 hours because of the fog. We flew over with three friends who were back packing for a week on the island. Flight was uneventful and it was hazy on the lake so we really couldn't see much. The pilot was knowledgeable about the lake and told us some of the characteristics of the freighters. We had visited with the three friends waiting for the plane and found out Rick was a retired ex-marine/Air Force retiree. He was traveling with his brother-in-law Scott and Harry from their high school days I guess. Rick had been deployed many times with Marine Corps and part of the time he was a casualty officer. On one of his deployments he lost 40 men in 6 months. It was pretty tough because he got out of the Marine Corps and then enlisted in the Air Force to finish his career. It turned out he had multiple deployments with the Air Force as well but not as dangerous. Brother-in-law Scott is an Industrial Engineer and works in a factory in their hometown that was about the close before the economy picked up and now they're running to 10 hour shifts 6 days a week. Harry is a babysitter for a bunch of men who drive forklifts in a warehouse. We got to the island around 10:30 and had to wait until almost 2:30 for our room. We walked around and talked to a lot of people and got the lay of the land. We found out that Sunday is not the day to arrive on Isle Royale. Not much is going on, including no cruises on the small charter boat that takes you around to various points on the island. We did meet a young couple from across the bay in Hancock. Josh is a systems analyst at Michigan Tech University and Megan is a special Ed teacher from downstate giving teaching one more hot before moving on to another career. It turns out Michigan doesn't support their teachers with supplies for classrooms anymore than Oklahoma does. We took a short walk after dinner and on the way back Megan and Josh called us over to the restaurant balcony where they were eating dinner and chatted some more. At this point we didn't even know their names. We met quite a few young couples while waiting for our room. The next day we got up and rented a canoe to paddle around the island on the inner passage away from Lake Superior. It was the first time in a long time either of us had been in a canoe. We adapted surprisingly well and paddled over to a lookout you can climb up to about a mile off the shore. There are a lot of kayakers and canoes in the Tobin Harbor area. The water is so clear you can see 20 or 30 ft down. We had a nice walk past a beaver dam around a place called Hidden Lake. The climb was not very strenuous, just sometimes very narrow. We did see evidence of moose activity right in front of us in the form of scat and hoof prints. However, we never saw a moose the whole time we were on the island. I must say Lookout Louise was underwhelming but we got some exercise. On the way down we ran into the young couple again and we finally said “hey what are your names? I got Megan's email and we have already corresponded a couple times. They have not been out of Michigan very much to travel because there's so much to do here. They come over to Isle Royale a couple times each summer. On the way back to the dock with the canoe, the water was a little choppy and the wind in our face. Consequently, it took a little longer to get back, but it was not a problem. We tried to rent a motorboat to go out to see another part of the island too far to take a canoe, but the concession had shut down all boat rentals because of the weather. We thought we’d get one in the morning, but the concessionaire said the weather report predicted up to 7 foot seas that evening and rough waters the next day. That evening while checking our email in the one spot on the island that has Wi-Fi from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., we met a couple from Florida having a drink in the meeting room. We were having cocktails and I said to Ghee, just because you leave civilization doesn't mean you have to leave civilization behind and that started a conversation. He and his wife joined us. We mentioned that there was a float plane at the dock when we got back from rowing and they said yes that's ours. They had sold their storage business and are traveling around the country now. They flew the plane to Alaska and went into some pretty remote areas where the Forest Service Cabins are available for $45 a night, if you can get to them. They joined us for dinner and we had a wonderful evening. We hope to hear from them again. Her husband is a product of a French mother and Italian husband who grew up in the Belgian Congo. They have led a very interesting life. Aug 14 We woke up expecting the worst of weather and found the best of weather. The water was smooth as glass and the sun was shining but it was a little cool. We checked with Jake who was working the Marina that day, but no decision has been made about rental boats. Finally at 10 Jake checked with the weatherman and he said you can launch boats. We grabbed the first motor boat and headed to the first light House ever on Isle Royale (no longer in service), an old Fisheries set up and to visit Rolf and his wife Sandy who have lived on the island for 49 years, observing and cataloging the moose population and reading the bones of those who are killed by wolves or who died of natural causes. He has a group of volunteers that come out every year for 3 weeks and scours the islands in the archipelago's looking for bones to bring back to him. He and his wife now have the 3rd generation living with them in a shack. They have to filter their water because of the microbes and tapeworms that are in it, but they seem very happy. Rolf is Norwegian and I recognized his flag. He laughed and said some people think it is the Confederate flag at first glance. He has an impressive collection of moose bones and antlers, probably the largest in the world that have been cataloged and documented. He showed us evidence of arthritic hips, gum disease and talked about how the animals have evolved. For instance, the moose bodies have gotten smaller including their heads and their legs became shorter before a wolf population came to the island sometime in the last hundred years. That's because of the lack of vegetation to eat especially in the winter time. When the wolf population became a problem, their legs started growing longer to be able to defend themselves. The wolf population has been decimated and the moose population has increase proportionately so the forest service is bringing in wolves over the next few years to keep the population in balance. No one knows for sure, but they estimate there's only one pair of wolves left on the island. We don't know what this means in the grand scheme of things but someone believes it's worth studying for 49 years by the Michigan Technical University staff. John, the curator of The Fishery, lives there with his wife 4 months out of the year and gives tours of the old Fishery run by the Edisen Family years ago. There were about 40 commercial fishermen on the lake at one time. It was a rough life and you didn't make much money but it was a way of life they apparently enjoyed. After a while between the Fisheries the Lamprey eels, most of the fish and that area of the lake we're gone. The commercial fishermen left and they found a way of eradicating the eels so the fish came back. Now they make more money from sports fishing than commercial fishing. A boat was docked at the fishery for a visit and it had at least 12 rods and reels sticking up above the cabin. We also went to see the lighthouse that is open to the public but has not been manned since the mid 1800s. Every lighthouse has an exhibit of shipwrecks. We got the motor boat back about an hour before the ferry left to go back to Copper Harbor where our limo was waiting for us. It was a three and a half hour Cruise across the lake and fortunately the water was calm. We sat with a man and his two sons who had planned to go to Philmont but the wildfires kept Philmont closed when he was supposed to go there with his Scouts. One son plays the oboe in the high school orchestra and the other is a freshman at the University of Michigan studying electrical engineering. He talked mostly about being a lighting technician at University of Michigan Theater. There’s more to that story but I'll get into that maybe another time in person. John, the father is a civil engineer and deals with water and wastewater treatment plants, which is what I did early in my career. We chatted for quite a while and then Elizabeth asked if they had any cards to play. Nathan whipped out a deck of cards and they taught us the game of euchre. It's pretty simple, but somewhat different than anything we had played before, but we finally got the hang of it. Elizabeth and Nathan beat John and me 10 to 8. I still don't know how they score the points so we had to trust him. We did get to see up close one of the largest ships on Lake Superior. Everyone thought that was a big deal so we did too. It’s 1000 and 4 ft long. That’s the longest freighter you can fit in the locks going though Lake Superior. It didn't look that big and we were really close to it. We (the ferry’s captain) got permission to circle behind its Stern. When we landed, Charlie was there to meet us and we drove back to the RV without incident. I forgot to ask Charlie to wait in case the battery was dead and fortunately the RV started with only 7.9 volts in the battery. We went back to the same City RV Park, to the same spot as before and spent the night.
Aug 15 We’re taking it easy this morning and Elizabeth just finished some laundry before we begin the next leg of our journey. I will probably post this before pictures, but I will get pictures uploaded soon.

Cairns Severn Bridge PR Catastrophe
Genesis of the Cairns Tax
Will the saga of the Severn Bridges toll ever be put on the stage?
It happened with a PACAC select committee meeting and it was a fine
entertaining musical.
The Severn Tolls farce might be judged too far-fetched to be plausible.
This year we have witnessed a series of nonsensical statements by the Tory
snake-oil hucksters that were designed to deceived. They all produced hoops of
grateful joy from a media with the concentration span of an earthworm. The
charlatan politicians plan to rob us again next January but demand our
gratitude for their fake news. The 'cut' is a con.
PIC: SOUTH WALES ARGUS. Left to Right, TORY MP David Davies , TORY Welsh
Secretary Alun Cairns, TORY Minister Chris Graying united in mission to sell
Tolls snake-oil.
£3.70
On the 12th
December 2016 the hapless Alun Cairns hilariously
set his position to the Welsh Select Committee:
Q90 Chair: This cut that has been promised at 50%—50% on the tolls as they are in
2018 but still 50%—is absolutely guaranteed, isn’t it?
Alun Cairns: That is the Government proposal but there is a consultation going on
to how that can be achieved.
Q91 Chair: So it is not quite guaranteed?
Alun Cairns: The announcement has been made in Budget 2015, I think it was, or
2014, and it is something that is Government policy.
Q93 Paul Flynn: Severn Bridge tolls started four years before you were born,
Secretary of State. Do you expect them to continue when you reach retirement
age?
Alun Cairns: Clearly I would hope, Mr Flynn, that you would accept that the 50%
reduction that is proposed, subject to a consultation and so on, is a welcome step.
Q94 Paul Flynn: There was a fascinating poll finding that said that 50% of the
population didn’t understand what 50% means. You have been quoted as saying
that the toll should be £3.70. How is that 50% of £6.70?
Alun Cairns: I was talking about of that order and I talked about it by the time the
bridge comes into public ownership for which there will be an inflationary fee.
Q95 Paul Flynn: In my view, the people of Wales are being ripped off by having one
of the few stretches of motorway, which the Severn Bridges are, tolled and this
has gone on for all these years now and because of the deals done a long time ago
by a previous generation. There seems to be absolutely no reason why this
shouldn’t become a national responsibility and the psychological barrier to south
Wales, which is very damaging, could be removed.
Alun Cairns: I am governed by the Act of Parliament and the Act of Parliament will
have struck a deal with the Severn Bridge company. We have an obligation in order
to deliver that but I would hope that reducing the tolls by half is seen as a very
positive step, although there will be a debt that remains outstanding. It
demonstrates the scale of the project.
Q96 Paul Flynn: You stand by the figure of £3.70?
Alun Cairns: I would say wait until the consultation goes out.
£3.00
January 17th
2017
That posture did not last long. After checking their maths, they reduced the
planned toll to less than 50%
The Trinity of Snake Oil Salesmen consisted of Chris Grayling, David Davies and
Alan Cairns posed at the Severn Bridge and announced the 'Good News' that Severn
Bridges toll would be set at the bargain rate of £3.00! Hurrah! But that was for the
long term future.
But it was no bargain because next year the tolls should be nil. It was an attempt
to con us. The snap General Election forced a re-think on the Tory Trinity. Today
they will announced that they have seen the Labour Light and will resist
temptation to continue milking the cash cow of tolls double taxation. It will be
announced with a blast of Tory self-satisfaction in Newport today. (no. I have not
been invited.)
Will anyone ask if election opportunism played a part in their volte-face?
Tory Toll junkies are hooked on the Highway Robbery that forces local people
into paying double taxation. While the Severn Bridges were in private hands
the deal to pay tolls was resented but tolerated. In early 2018, the bridges will
become public property like the rest of the motorway system. They should be
maintained and financed in the same way as all other public roads.
For 52 years, we have paid twice. First through our taxes for the roads system.
Secondly through the toll payments. The Government want to continue to milk the
cash cow of tolls. There is an overwhelming case for abolishing the tolls
altogether. At a stroke an injustice would end and the expense and psychological
barrier to accessing Wales would be gone.
£billions of our taxes are paid to build, run and maintains the UK's road system.
The Severn Bridges costs and debts are national responsibilities when they become
public property. Wales has a history of attacking unjust tolls by the Hosts of
Rebecca. It's time the spirit of the 1839 was aroused again.
16th
May 2017
£00.00
The Tories 2017 election bribe was an unconditional promise to end the tolls.
As a bribe it failed. Their ambition was to gain 7 Labour seats. They lost three
of their own to Labour and every sitting Labour MP increased their majorities.
They cannot mange a simple election bribe efficiently.
The Severn Bridges Act 1992 set out framework to award private contract to
build a much needed second Severn crossing. Severn River Crossings built the
bridge with the power to charge tolls until revenue of £1.029 billion is raised or
for a maximum of 35 years. Wales has paid extortionate annually increasing
tolls since.
The debt is almost paid, the concession contract is coming to An end. In the next
year the crossings will return to public ownership. Legal power to levy charges
ends with the contact.
The Act is clear and tolls must cease. The Crossings have an estimated annual
running cost of £15m. As with any other road belonging to the Department for
Transport maintenance costs are unavoidable. Road users already cover these
maintenance costs with road tax. Further tolls amount to unreasonable and
duplicate charges
12th
September 2017
£5.60
The Cairns Huckster team are back. Tolls are to be ‘CUT’ to £2.60 MORE than
Cairns promised on January 17
th
. Not to reduce it to that level would be illegal.
The reduction is because the bridges after next January will not be liable to
VAT. There is no choice. But Alun Cairns still has no date for delivering on his
election bribe of £00.00 tolls.
No charge is necessary after January 2018. We have discharged our debt.
It is no longer a toll, it’s a CAIRNS TAX.
Mr Cairns said he was not surprised at the reaction but claimed the "wider, silent
majority is absolutely with us". He urged "republicans" to "respect" the Prince
because of his work in the community.
The decision to re-name the Bridge after Prince Charles is a PR disaster. A petition of 20,000 appeared overnight. A poll in the Argus showed that only a tiny 11% supported Cairns. 89% wanted no change, another name or could not care. Who is advising you on PR Alun? ....a Republican?
