More poly LuciLili ideas since you guys really liked the ones where they get Reader pregnant
-I really like the idea of Reader, in the very beginnings of the relationship, where you don't know they're "out to get you" yet, that you come across Lilith in a rocking chair, crocheting or knitting, like, little baby socks or a little baby hat, and she knows you're getting baby fever (and has already talked to Luci about it) and you start talking to her and she's just like "this is for a very good friend of mine. She's going to be having her first baby soon :)" and then timeskip to around 12 months later when you have your baby and she gifts you the same socks and you're just like ".... HEY! >:(" and are a little mad but not that mad, in fact maybe you're so in deep at this point you're smitten they were thinking of you the whole time
- I just. I really REALLY like the idea of Reader having a premature delivery so you give birth and the baby is super small just like its dad 🥺❤️ like Lucifer being genuinely excited he's having his first son and looking so forward to seeing how big it's gonna be and you get this, this cute little bean, and he ADORES his baby but, just the idea of a little tiny preemie Morningstar 🥺❤️
-I love the idea of Lilith completely going over Lucifer's head if "she knows" the best or whatever. Oh she thinks Reader is the best for Lucifer? She'll pull all those strings to shove her husband at you; drug him, swap places with you during sex, give him weird horny dreams, invite you to their Garden of Eden dream dimension where you've got your beav out. I still think of plucking berries off a bush and, you all, idk, wind up lickong the berry juices off of each other's fingers and stuff... brewing wine and getting drunk and swimming in a river... frolicking like little spring fairies
-Reader who starts getting their heart broken over the fake Eden dreams because you wake up missing "your lovers" and you go out to a bar and fuck actual people and they're so deep in your fucking head that you regret it. It feels like cheating. All you can think of is your Lily and Ducky and how you want them instead 🥺❤️ and they're not even. Real. At least the versions you're dreaming about. That you don't know ARE the real ones.
-babysitters Fizzy and Ozzie and idc what you say. They love your baby and adore being fun gay uncles and it may even lowkey make them wanna adopt a baby of their own
- you know who is the happiest here. CHARLIE. A new parent, her very own baby brother, and her family and friends are closer than ever? It's a happy day in Hell! Never for a SECOND does she have "am I being replaced with the new baby" anxiety. She's thrilled and even starts asking her mom if SHE'S gonna have another baby (and that milf freak may reply that she'd consider it if YOU got pregnant again. The two of you could be pregnant together--)
-I feel like carrying the son of the devil would give you some. Interesting cravings. It's two in the morning and Alastor finds you with handfuls of raw meat and blood dripping down your chin and he's bursting out laughing, "suddenly I'm not the only one!"
-i can just picture Heaven getting the memo that Lucifer has created another child and there's tons of angels freaking out and trying not to cause a panic and, God is there "you know what? good for him, good for him". Adam and Sera are tearing their fucking hair out and God is like. Contemplating sending a gift basket.
-I feel like there's added layers if Reader was somehow a former wife of Adam but can you even imagine. Lucifer steals not one. Not two. Three of your wives. He fucking dies and his soul is in Hell and that's already torture enough and he finds his wife again and she's. Pregnant with Lucifer's child. This man would have a Kubrick level menty b (but I prefer human reader having mad supernatural pull game lol)

Spider-squad winter outfits headcanons post!
you can tell i drew different charas in separate days oh wow
So i kinda posted few days ago about recent lack of atsv content Hobie content specifically so i had to deliver myself, amirite? Tho i decided to not stop on Hobie and did the entire spider-squad or perhaps, spider-quad? *badum tss* im funny see
also it's like -38C/-36.4F in my city and i be wearing like four layers at all times so i got inspired can't believe i still love winter when my ass be freezing this bad
So here's my headcanons for spider gang winter outfits!
Let's imagine they all have a mission in winter...
Gwen
She can't really wear her hood bc of wind but everyone teases her about looking bald without it lmaoo so she got one of these knitted hoods instead, also wears one of these fluffy soft jackets
Was wearing uggs until she lost one of the boots during a fight LOL so she got these uggs with velcro fasteners + leg warmers
pics: 1) found-store on Pinterest, 2) wglwkjg on Pinterest, 3) pey on Pinterest, 4) ·˚ Isabella·˚ on Pinterest
Miles
I see him wearing something kinda like his og itsv outfit but winter version with one of these gigantic puffy jackets and nike sneakers with fur inside + a hat with pompom
Let's imagine his jacket is opened, i didn't realise in time it makes his spiderman-outfit not-so-spider looking
pics: 1) Hipok on Pinterest, 2) Nordstrom on Pinterest
Pavitr
He got one of these fluffy earmuffs (because his hair needs to be looking perfect at all times!), a puffy cropped cord jacket, a pair of these puffy winter shoes (these have a ribbon so you don't lose them flying around a city) and a BIG scarf with mittens (he definitely lost one of these tho)
He's the least used to cold out of the squad, but he's being very brave about it and wears a socially acceptable amount of layers
pics: 1) Campus Gifts on Pinterest, 2) WTI Designer on Pinterest, 3) true deals club on Pinterest, 4) liisa rita on Pinterest 5) EtsyCA on Pinterest
Hobie
In contrast with Pavitr he would wear a disturbing amount of layers, definately one of these mfs who wear layers instead of one warm thing
He's got one of these plaid "winter" coats that are thin af but swears he's warm cus it gets hot during fights (nobody believes him cus they watch him start to shiver in real time) (Pavitr crocheting a scarf for him was the only way to make buddy dress fairly properly for cold weather)
At least Hobie got a warm hat, right? Yes, spikes on the mask do just go through it, but it's warm, right? -right? ("it's a ventilation, mate!" or whatever lol)
Got layers of sweaters over each other: a turtleneck-sweater, a cropped one on top + a vest over all these
Would wear his usual boots just with warm socks under
pics: 1) People on Pinterest, 2) Natalia on Pinterest 3) Fur Hat World on Pinterest 4) OLUOLIN on Pinterest 5) Elena Ilieva on Pinterest 6) EtsyCA on Pinterest
Disclaimer: english is not my native and i was SWEATING trying to find how all of these clothes are called in english so if i messed up some names ignore it pls or let me now how they are called correctly
Okay, this is all! Hope you liked it!

Man finished! I rate him a solid very cute out of ten.
This guy was published as a doily insert plus edging for a linen table cloth (seen Here). The linen part was of zero interest to me so I knit him as a stand alone doily and I very much prefer him as such. Chart A (the "doily") and Chart B (the "edging") match up for knitting in the round as a single doily.
Below the read more is going to refer a lot to the charts, which I got from the amazing Ramona French. While this is the only version of the charts I've seen, looking at the Rav page it seems to also be cut into A and B charts in the same spot. It makes sense in context of the original pattern but I don't like it, both for the reason i'll get to below and also because I straight up just don't like how it looks in the original pattern.
Even without the alterations I'll propose, I think he's a good doily just as he is. The problems I have are barely noticeable/nitpicky now that he's blocked out.
Starting with the edging vs doily distinction. This problem starts with the original pattern since it has you knit chart A for the insertion and chart B for the edging around every insertion and the linen tablecloth edges. But divorcing the actual charts from the linen, the charts really should be rows 1-31 of A as the "doily" and Chart A rows 33-41 and all of chart B for the "edging". The reason I'm so specific about this is because it's focus for any changes I would make. The end of chart A and the beginning of chart B flow together perfectly. It's where the doily/center flower ends (Row 31) and the edging begins (Row 33) that is the problem spot.
(I should've picked a darker colour foam to block this out on, sorry if it's hard to see)
The large center petals (doily) end with a yo, twisted knit 1, yo at the very tip. Then the set up row for the edging is all knits with a yarn over... that is off center of the petal. In a more personal gripe, I don't like how the mesh in the flower portion looks next to the edging. It's not bad (and would probably bother me less if it weren't off center) but it's not my favourite.
The mesh not looking nice next to the edging is an easy fix that comes directly from a doily that has a very similar feel to this one. Sechsblatt is another doily I've knit and also has a 6 petaled flower with mesh between the petals and an edging, but it's edging is separated by several rows of plain stockinette. In my revised chart I added just one odd numbered row of stockinette. I'm not 100% on this change, it's something that you just can't know if it looks good until it's swatched out.
The change I am 100% on is centering the yarn over to be directly above the tip of the center flower petal. There's a number of ways to do so, I'm honestly surprised it wasn't done for the original pattern. My revised chart moves the k2tog on row 35 to directly over the center stitch of the petal, which required moving the start of the repeat one stitch left. This also needs swatched out but I'm fairly confident it'll line up, at least better that just being blatantly off center like it is in the original, and since the k2tog was just moved instead of being added, the stitch count should still work out.
All other changes to the chart were simply made for personal preference/printing convenience.
Eventually I'll knit this revised version but I don't have a timeline on that yet, knitting the same thing multiple times is bad for my attention span. Regardless I would wait because I want to see how the crochet bind off holds up. I usually pin out every chain of the crochet bind out individually but I thought pinning two together looked really good on this particular doily. It made the blocking process a lot tighter. That could've been because I accidentally stretched it too much in the first place (I forgot this doily was 6 parts instead of 8) but it was incredibly funny to behold.
#knitting#knitblr#lace rot#lace knitting#doily#project: doily 13#he's so pretty ahhh!!#i'm minorly obsessed with his edging. i think it would look so pretty at like the edge of a skirt or cuffs or something#i'll have to come up with something to use it on that isn't so femme to make me dysphoric.#or i'll just add it to the edge of a shawl that i already don't intend to wear lmao

Mechs Doll Pattern Notes
At least one person asked in the comments on the raffle form, so here's some quick notes on making the Mechs dolls under the cut!
These are based on a pattern in Mini Knitted Farmyard by Sachiyo Ishii (isbn 978-1782215387). Usually, I use US size 2 knitting needles and DK yarn in the various shades required for each of them. I like having three needles on hand for this pattern. The pattern base is "farmer", but I do pull from other patterns. The author appears to use this same base pattern across several of the books in this series, so if you can't find a copy of this book, the Mini Knitted Cosmos book has variants of this pattern (look at "Ground Staff"), as does Mini Knitted Ocean (look at "Fisherman" patterns).
Specifically, the pattern for doll coats is a modified version of the "vest" pattern under the shepherd doll instructions in the same book (Farmyard). I usually make it slightly longer than listed, and if it's a coat, I'll match the sleeve color. I use the same pattern for vests, just not matching the sleeve color. Once again, there's a version of this under the "Fisherman" pattern in Ocean as well.
The shepherd doll also has the instructions on how to make boots, rather than shoes. I've found that useful for different dolls, and I don't seem to see it in any other places in the series.
TS's hat comes from Mini Knitted Ocean, and is used for one of the fishermen in that book. I've also made TS without, but I like the way it looks with the hat, don't you?
For dolls that have pointed ears, I've pulled from the animal ear patterns in the Mini Knitted Safari book, and somewhat adapted it. It's really, really simple-- cast on two stitches, knit one row, bind off. The bind-off should be pointy. If you want longer ears, knit an extra row or two.
Finally, Raphaella's wings are initially from a different book in the series, Mini Knitted Toys, and I've adapted them from the "fairy" pattern. (Those adaptations are just doing half-double crochet in brown yarn around the outside edge, and then sewing down a crochet chain for the middle brown lines. I also do attach them differently than how the pattern suggests-- flipping them around so that they curve downwards.) This is the only pattern for the Mechs that uses a different size knitting needle (US size 6). I've also done them for other dolls, and I highly recommend doing a fun stitch for texture-- remember that both the back and front of the wings could be visible. Last time, I ended up doing moss stitch on them with some fun colors, and that ended up looking really cool.
Another tip: these will require a yarn needle. I've done the hair by knotting it on or by doing backstitch and loops, and while the backstitch and loops takes more time, the extra time's worth it. Doing that with a crochet hook instead of a yarn needle sounds incredibly time consuming and painful.
As well, while there are instructions for a "farmer's wife" variant with a skirt, I've found it just as easy to either pick up and crochet a skirt around a completed doll, or to increase through the back loop and set aside all increased stitches for later during that second row of the shirt color, and then use that to knit the skirt later. Either way, make sure that you increase appropriately as you make the skirt-- too many, and it'll ruffle.
If you're interested in the series, I'd highly recommend Woodland and Safari if you want to make animals, and Farmyard if you're interested in people of various sizes. I've made a lot of the patterns in these books, and they're fun to make and to experiment with. Ocean also has a good variety of fish and similar creatures, which could be fun depending on your interests.
If you end up trying to make any of these dolls, feel free to ask me questions! I'm sure I've got more tips, but I can't think of them, and they'd probably not make much sense out of context anyway. In short, have fun!

Give me God of War!! (Ares OOAK, Part 2)
Just a reminder that there was Part 1 of this madness.
OKAY
I wanted to wait until I finish sword and spider legs before making a post, but there are three days after finishing the whole armor and I can't wait, I am screaming about Ares's supremacy.
Now I can say, it was hard. And the most hard thing was finding a balance. There are differences between Ares's 3D models from the different years, even in color palette. And I wanted to be as much close to the first game design as it possible. Some features were fully recreated from GOW1, some others I found more good at latest model from GOW3 and reworked them according to it. So at the end we have a good symbiosis I think.
Now let's a take a bow and look a bit closer at the mess under the cut.
Preparatory process
Until eyes are frightened, you can't do anything. To be honest I had no idea from where to start, the plan sounded like a "How to draw an owl" tutorial. Complexity of his armor scared me as hell, and after spending some time with drawings, where I tried to figure out a hook and loop system, which should attach parts to each other, I gave up and started to make his scaly iron belt, it felt more easier. YEAH.
Iron belt
You can see it at the screenshot. Well, one of the versions. Seems, it has no purpose beside decorative, I mean, maybe it can protect the groin, but eh, not really, honestly. At GOW3 model of dead Ares it became more detailed with round flower-like pendants and a little green jewel drops, but also it became golden as all metallic elements. I decided to make everything silver, but anyway, belt is very beautiful and I headcanon it is the same belt, which Ares gifted to his daughter Hippolyte in the past.
I weaponised myself with the smallest crochet hook and red thread and started to knit. WHY KNIT YOU ASK?? I don't know, it is easier for me than sewing all these scales %) Maybe they represents some fishy motives? (His connection with Aphrodite). Or serpent? (One of Ares's children, who was killed by Kadmus). Maybe green jewels is a hint to his mother Hera, because she loves emeralds. Who knows.
Scales, flowers, suns, glass drops.. If I were Ares, I'd present it to my beloved warrior daughter too.
Pteruges
As an example of the true manliness, Ares wears a skirt of course. He is not a barbarian, who hides his beautiful freckled thighs in the pants! How dare we to judge..
The easy part was to make a leather stripes and pierce them with the rivets (little nails, which I cut after this to left a head only). The hard part (which I had a chance to feel over and over again) was to figure out how to attach it to the body and hide all of the fasteners, and how to let stripes flow on his thighs and how the hell it should cover his.. godlike butt, I can't believe I wrote this.. %)
ANYWAY, A MONTH LATER I decided to make it a single piece with the iron belt, by creating a two-part wide leather base, attach knitted waistband to it, then join the each stripe to the separate piece of cloth to make them movable, then attach this cloth to the leather and sew some hooks. Aaaand the final result!
Cuirasse
I just say I literally hanged up myself with it. Here will be ranting...
Let's just think that it is not enough just to recreate appearence. In making 3D you can ignore some aspects like hidden straps and strings, which keeps armor conjoint on the human body. But how to make it wearable to the doll body, which is not soft and has a stable reliefs? How to make armor firm and shaped, but not completely firm, so it can be taken off from the body? Yes, my wish from the beginning was to make whole armor with a possibility to take it off and send nudes dress Ares in different outfit, which i will also make someday. How to make it light, so the doll can stand by itself? How to make it textured, to make it looks rough, to imitate metal or at least used condition? How to make metal parts without using a metal?
OKAY, WE NEED TO BE CANON - I thought and it was a day I decided to not invent armor, but use an experience of the hellenic people, who was smarter than me, I guesse. Because long time ago these people invented Linothorax - composite armor made of laminated linen fabric. ____
First of all, I splited Ares's cuirass to the segments: chest+collar segment, belly segment, spine segment, which emphasizes Ares's love to hunching over a little, and a waist-and-lower segment. Plus cuirasse has chained shoulder straps and side straps.
Well, when you have all elements, it is easier to imagine a complete piece. After that you just buy fabric, glue, chains, 27 hours for your day, new eyes, paint and other stuff. You wrap the body with the film and tape to protect it and start to glue. And here it is time for me to shut up, I know, you are here to watch a process, not to read an essay. I started from the front pieces of course. You imagine a pattern, you cut it, you glue it to hold the natural body forms as close as possible. Collar was formed right here. Gladly we can remove Ares's head when we want to do it...
Waist piece (eheh, spider butt (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ) and first attempt to assemble the cuirasse. Here I literally lost my last brain cells and bravery, stopped the process and didn't make straps until the last week.
Anyway A MONTH LATER!!11 after the first assemble I started to sculp a relief of the reinforced chest and the metallic collar. Also we can check how's our decapitated dogs doing. Here you can see a belly piece of the cuirasse, which needed it's own dog decor. I was that meme boy with a knife, yeah..
Seemed they doing great! I felt that and decided to finish arm armor. Shoulder pads and bracers Thankfully making them requires the same process: cut a pattern, glue it, repeat for each arm. Here is close ups of the leather "feathers" pierced by rievets, chained bracers (I am very proud that I recreated it fully like at the Ares model. Bracers has no other strings and stays at arm only because of the chains) and shoulder pads as a base and as a complete, fully Cerbered piece. Actually this part wasn't really difficult, I've just delayed the inevitable.
Boots The first GOW novel says he weared sandals!!! Bloodstained SANDALS! But this novel was written much later, so we are making rocker boots. ᕕ(シ)ᕗ HEY!, we are laughing here, but Ares is smart, Ares don't want to break his toes by kicking someone's helmet! Maybe after having some experience %)))
Well, as I said in my previous posts, his boots was the most agressive part his armor. Heel and shoes toes should be firm, but sole should stay soft. Also the whole construction of the boots should looks monolite with the greavers which cover up the layers of the material above the ankles. Don't forget about the chains and double emotional damage, because there is two legs!
A little more damage as a person you receive, when you understand that you need to process each edge of each piece, because all armor pieces has visible layers. And only after that you can paint everything, draw Ares's assymetrical ornaments and dress him up.
That's how we reach the end. Here he is. O defence of Olympus, father of warlike Victory, ally of Themis, stern governor of the rebellious, leader of righteous men. Kratos's yes-homo partner and his personal most vieceful enemy.
Ares! God of war!
Thank you everyone for your patience while reading this duvet cover. See ya in Part 3, Skeletor will return soon with a sword, spider legs and normal photos. And stay tuned, I will post some portraits next time!

Hello, knitters and crocheters of Tumblr
I come to you with an app idea, not to start any sort of crowdfunding, I don't want to start the next Tumblr scam. This is just something I want to do (actually, already started to do because I have bad impulse control) and I want to see if anyone else would be interested in using it. Again, I am asking for $0.00 MXN (that's $0.00 USD), and it would be a free app, no ads, maybe I'll slap a link to my Ko-Fi in it but that's it.
I am not doing this for profit, I'm doing it because it'll be useful for me, because the idea goblin in my head in insatiable, and my hubris is immeasurable.
Details under the cut, and I'll be adding updates as I go at the end of the post
The idea is:
An app to help you keep track of current knitting and crocheting projects, projects (aka patterns) you want to get to, and materials you need for all that stuff.
The WIP section would have tabs for each project you started, because if you're like me, it won't be just one. Each tab would include:
A row counter
Information on the pattern, like its name, some notes, the section you're currently working on (for patterns with different sections where the row count is reset)
A timer for the time you've been working on that project, because you deserve fair pay if you sell your craft so you have to know how long you've worked on it
The patterns section would have, well, patterns. For at least version 1.0, I'm thinking a list of PDFs that are stored in your phone and open in your phone's PDF viewer.
Finally, the materials section would just be a good old fashioned shopping list. You input items manually, you check 'em as you get 'em.
---------------------------------------------
Update 29/01
I've finished the mockups and the design of the icons I'll be using in the app. I'm going to start moving into coding territory.
Update 06/02
I've started the development and it's going pretty well. I opted for React Native, and while I have experience with React, I was a bit daunted by the idea of going into React Native. But! It's been smooth sailing so far. I've got a sturdy project structure, a functional menu, and an almost functional shopping list.
Update 19/02
I missed last week's update because I was very sick. For most of the first week, after finishing the shopping list, I worked on code organization and documentation. Now that I was sure that I was going to use React Native, I wanted to make sure the project is organized and sturdy. After that, I've been working on the pattern list, which has been a bit of a pain because I want to respect the user's privacy and security and not access the entire filesystem if I don't need to.
Update 27/02
I got frustrated with my troubles with the filesystem, so like any good procrastinator, I put that part aside and started working on other stuff. Apart from tinkering with the style and some background work to improve performance, I've also added support for different languages (currently just English and Spanish because those are the ones I feel confident I won't fuck up the translations, but I'm thinking of later asking for help with more languages), and I've started working on the WIP section.
Update 08/03
I haven't been able to work on it a lot this week because I had a lot of work to do for my actual job (I had to do my job at my job, shocking, I know), but last week I finished building the first functional version of the WIP section. As it is, it's only for one project, but it should be relatively easy to add tabs for multiple projects. I also had the chance to do something like a demo with a potential user, which is just a fancy way of saying I showed what I've done so far to my cousin (a great knitter & crocheter) and she really liked it :D
Update 12/04
Gap in updates because I was a bit overwhelmed by my job so I gave myself a lil vacation on this project. This week I got back to work and now the WIP screen officially supports multiple projects in different tabs. This means the WIP screen is done! Which means I will soon have no choice but to stop procrastinating the pattern list and face my filesystem problems oh no.
---------------------------------------------
The poll has ended but I'm leaving the results up:
#I think im going to pin this in both my blogs and leave it even after the poll ends to add updates and stuff#crocheting#knitting#crochet#yarn crafts#craftblr#crafts#yarn#fiber crafts#app development

Hello, my lovelies!
For some reason I don't post here often as just... me - the person behind NestingTendencies. I'm not quite sure why this is; I guess most of my crafting needs are catered to by Ravelry, as a platform. But I do realise that I have many, many wonderful followers, who have been regularly reblogging both the patterns that have piqued my interests and my own creations. And for that I am very grateful!
So I'd like to try and be a bit more social here; get to know you a little, learn what projects you're working on, and show you what's on my own hook!
First up is the Mariposa Sweater which has been the bane of my existence sole focus of my work since January!
You see, one of my new year's resolutions was to grow as a crafter beyond shawls, which are my specialty, and make sosme sweaters and jumpers! I've been having urges for those since last autumn and by now the craving cannot be ignored any longer.
So this is my first ever crocheted sweater, right? Do I bother with a gauge swatch?
No. Gauge swatches are for the weak.
Pretty soon I realise that my crochet is much, much tighter than the author's. Do I go back and try a size bigger? Do I increase the hook size to obtain the right gauge?
No. I decide that I know better, and I understand enough about how raglan works to just wing it. The joy of making a garment yourself is that you can make it fit your personal body contours perfectly, right?
So long story short, I am now on Mariposa the Second (First one is here) and I have frogged SUBSTANTIAL NUMBERS OF ROWS (like, all of the yoke for example) - wait for it - upwards of 20 times. Yes, 20. Not an exaggeration. If I hadn't done that, I could have probably about 4 completed Mariposas by now.
But no. The Gods have cursed me with a perfectionist streak. So we live and we learn and we carry that burden with us.
The photos in this post are the latest of the most correct version of this top that I currently have. My New Hope. My baby. I'm going to be sharing more WIP photos in the future.
The only good news is that as soon as I figure this sweater out, I'm going to have meticulous notes, which will give me the exact stitch sounts for my measurements and unlock the door to other jumpers like this one, of which I want to make at least 3.
And then there are other sweater patterns. 74 of them currently in my library. At least a dozen literally burning a hole in my consciousness - I want to start them immediately right now yesterday!!! Look look!
Elara Pullover - This is want in gradient purples, like an autumnal sunset
Chevie Sweaer - This I want in greys and golden ochres. I love the stitch used.
Don't Scrap That Raglan - Aaaah, Moss Stitch my favouritest stitch ever and I've almost improvised a sweater like this before!
Cosmopolitan Sweater - This I want in solid teal. Alpine stitch could well become my new mistress. It's also probably THE sweater I should have started with as my first project...
Peony Tee - I am in love with the funky-coloured contrasting sleeves and the raglan concept
Bridgette Ballet Neck Pullover - Ballet necks are my weakess...
Cap Sleeve Top - This I had a little romance with before, oh, about 8 years ago and it was shaping up beautifully in navy - I have all the yarn that I need for it.
Isop Sweater - I really want to learn this fair isle technique of making yokes, because I saw this pornographically beautiful set of 2 knitted sweaters in just the perfect colours and I'd like to do equvalent crochet versions, no I'm not at all trying to run before I can walk, why you ask?
Many of them much easier than Mariposa. Many of them not so tailored to the figure.
But no. Mariposa.
I have been buying up yarn in bulk again. This is how I know I'm in trouble.
But what about you guys? Do you have a Nemesis Project that has been kicking your ass for ages? Do you get overly ambitious like me? Or do you make your gauge swatches and avoid pissing off the Gods of Yarn, like sensible people?

- Maybe
‘we both got kicked out of our rooms because our roommates are having sex so now we’re standing in the hallway avoiding each other’ AU Have a random and quickly written thing.
'What are you doing?'
Mabel raised her head from her position on the floor, currently seated in a cold dormitory hallway with her back against the wall and legs spread out across the floor. It wasn't like she was blocking the way or anything though - people could easily step over.
In her hands she had a ball of sparkly red yarn and two knitting needles. She smiled up at the stranger, holding up a partially finished sweater. 'Knitting! Also, hi!'
The young man frowned at her energetic response, no doubt wondering how she was so upbeat this late at night.
'Alright, but why in the middle of the corridor? And at midnight?'
'Ooh, well that's a long a story that starts with me, my roomate and this guy we met in a bar three weeks ago-'
'Bye.' He began to walk off and Mabel leaned forward.
'Wait, wait! Fine, I'll give the short version!!' It was nice having someone to talk to after being out here alone so far, she didn't want him to leave. She blew air out between her lips before sighing as the guy regarded her neutrally. 'My roomate's, how should I say this?' She paused, clasping her hands together in front of her as she considered for a moment. 'She's.... enjoying some adult naptime with her friend.'
An arched eyebrow. 'You mean they're bumpin' uglies?'
She flushed. 'Um.... yeah.'
The guy snorted, leaning against the wall opposite as he folded his arms with a wry grin. 'Ditto. My roommate likes to slime the banana with his girlfriend often.'
Mabel made a face. 'Gross, gross, gross! Do you have to phrase it like that?'
'I'm sorry, I wasn't aware I was speakin' to a grandma.' His gaze dropped down to the stuff in her lap. 'Though I guess the crochet kit should have been a guess.'
'This is knitting, not crochet. There's a difference!' Mabel huffed before forcing herself to calm down. Cm'on Mabel, be the bigger person. Maybe this was guy was just having a bad day and that's why he was being an ass - he'd been kicked out of his room too, after all. Let's try this again. 'I haven't seen you around before, who are you?'
'That's cuz I spend most of my time in the science lab,' he quipped back. 'And it's Bill.'
Mabel set her knitting stuff aside and pushed herself to her feet, smiling brightly as she offered a hand. 'Nice to meet you Bill, I'm Mabel.'
The fellow student eyed her hand warily. Mabel wiggled her fingers enticingly as she grinned. 'It's okay, I don't bite. Promise.'
He seemed reluctant but eventually took her hand, giving it a brief shake. 'Do you often find yourself kicked out at night?'
'Nope! Tonight's the first time so I don't mind. I was happy to stay in the bathroom whilst they went at it but apparently I was being distracting so they kicked me out.'
'Distracting, how?'
'Well, I was just making a few sound effects to lighten the mood y'know? And then I was shouting encouraging words at the guy 'cuz it seemed he was doing a real good job from what I could hear.'
'That's god damn hilarious,' Bill said, cackling. 'Can you come do that to my roommie? He'd love it!'
Mabel cocked her head. His words were nice but why did she feel like he was being sarcastic?
As he recovered, Bill flashed her a boyish smile that made her heart skip a beat. Oh, he actually looked quite handsome when he wasn't pulling a face. She hadn't been granted the chance to notice until now.
'Mabel, was it? I'll see ya around.' He turned and began walking away and the brunette stared after him.
'Wait!'
She rummaged in her pockets as he paused to turn back. Procuring a pink gel pen she chased after him, grabbing his arm and scribbling.
'....What are ya doin?'
She pulled back and flashed him a smile, capping her pen. 'Leaving my number.' Wink.
He stared.
She grinned back.
'Do you give your number to every guy you meet?' he asked pointedly.
'No!' Well, not anymore. A few years ago when she'd been boy-crazy she more or less had. This was the first time in five weeks she'd handed it out - that must be some kind of record!
'Hm. Well, I'll call ya if I need your services with Pine Tree.'
'Who?'
'My roommate,' he clarified as he swivelled around and continued walking away again.
'Oh. Well, yeah... that or, um, any other service!'
He stopped.
'Ah wait, oops, not like that!' she yelled, face turning red as she abruptly realised how that sounded and shook her hands in front of her frantically. 'I mean just like... a date or coffee or something. Ha ha.'
Bill glanced over his shoulder, blue eyes meeting hers in a scrutinising manner. She laughed nervously, rubbing the back of her head. Smooth Mabel, real smooth.
But then he surprised her with his response:
'Maybe,' he muttered before walking away once and for all. Mabel remained standing in the corridor alone, chest fluttering.
Maybe, huh?
Maybe was good. Maybe was promising. She could definitely work with "maybe"!
Ooh, she should tell Dipper about this! He'd been acting so crabby lately over his "new asshole roommate", maybe he'd feel better if she shared the good news about having a new crush.
(Probably not. Knowing Dipper he wouldn't care but hey she was using the lame excuse in her mind to boast to him about it anyway. Suck it.)

hi
i just got diagnosed with me cfs about a month ago. I've been bedbound since July (doctors think I got it post-covid) and I'm extremely bored. I've been working on isolation by seeing friends once a week but it's just like... how do i fill the rest of my time? I can't stand to watch tv or scroll tumblr anymore, the internet is making me depressed. So what do I do? I'm sleeping like 16 hours a day. I can only get up to do simple chores and stuff. I struggle with reading/processing info and I lie down most of the day. How do I entertain myself? Especially with something that feels fun, satisfying, and "productive."
TLDR: newly bedbound and in need of a hobby I can do offline from bed, please help <3
hi, thanks for asking! I also spent the vast majority of the first 3 or so years I had CFS laying down, it can definitely be difficult to find stuff to do. Here are some things I did:
Video games. This one is a pretty common recommendation but I can't not recommend it because it's what I do pretty much all the time. If you have trouble positioning a computer like I did you can get an overbed desk (I have this one and it's served me pretty well). If you're looking for game reccs, the Sims 4 is now free and there's a ton of free custom content available for it online for when you get bored of basegame. For paid games, Minecraft, Don't Starve Together (even if you're playing alone the Together version is better), Oxygen Not Included, 7 Days to Die, and Sheltered all have a ton of replayability. I also recommend adding items to your wishlist and waiting for sales if you're buying games off Steam, Sheltered is actually on sale for $3 on Steam until Nov. 21.
Textile work. There's a reason a lot of textiles are considered "grandma" hobbies, they're easy to do with limited energy. There's a ton of disability adaptations for textile projects like knitting, crocheting, embroidery, weaving, etc. Choose one that seems fun to learn and go for it. I tried to do knitting but found it hard laying down so I switched to crochet and it's been going pretty well. It's fairly inexpensive as well, crochet hooks are like $5 and you can fine cheap yarn at places like Walmart for less than $5.
Art. You don't have to be good at it or have fancy supplies, either. I'm a big fan of coloring books, both physical ones and coloring book apps. I also use an app called Sketchbook to make digital art on my phone sometimes. You can trace stock photos to help you practice, or you can just make your entire art process tracing and coloring in stock photos.
Writing. Another one you don't have to be good at. Just think of stuff and write it down. You don't even need to write it down if you don't want to, you can just tell yourself stories in your head as well. Writing fanfiction can be a tool to help you get inspired to write your own stuff too. I got into writing by writing Warrior cats fanfic that was objectively bad, but it was fun and it laid the groundwork for making my own stuff. You can also just keep writing fanfiction if that's what you enjoy.
Origami. This one's a little niche but I find makng origami very satisfying. Some people claim you need special origami paper, you don't, regular notebook paper is fine. The instructions from this website have been useful for me.
That's all I have as far as hobby suggestions, if anyone has any other suggestions feel free to add!

*rolls up sleeves* buckle in peeps, this is gonna be long. as promised, pics of all the yarn at and related things to it! Also Ray, fellow void, if you want anything in particular, just holler at me. 👍First the wips!
From left to right: pillow cover in checkerboard stitch using bulky super wash merino wool (cause I wanted to try something new) blanket for stepdad in bamboo stitch with acrylic yarn blanket for mom in broken rib stitch ( I wanna have this done by mother's day but I dunno yet), also in acrylic, and place mat for a friend in basic garter stitch, again in acrylic.
Next is completed stuff!
From left to right: scarf in stockinette stitch for my sis, who likes it despite me being a picky bitch about how it got out of control and definitely not what I intended, argh. Also it's hard to see, but there's beads in there as well. 2nd pic is headband (need to seam the ends together actually), and 2 dishcloths (the holes are intentional on the blue one, since I knitted that diagonally). Then dishtowel in woven stitch, potholders in.. I think I did moss stitch on those. And a facecloth in sand stitch. Then dishtowel in 2x2 rib stitch. I don't remember what I did for the dishcloths, but I DO remember kicking myself cause if I'd thought of it earlier I could've put beads in the pink part to make them watermelon-themed! All of the kitchen-type items were made from cotton/cotton blends. I also have another stack of completed kitchen-type stuff for relatives and friends, but I don't have pics of them at the moment.
Last but not least, the yarn hoard! The stack of 5 cakes was the recent order that was on sale and will eventually become a blanket for my sis. The small tubs are super wash merino wool skeins, they will become various things once I figure out exactly what I wanna make. 🤷♀️ so many ideas and patterns, and I'm so indecisive, augh. The tub beneath it is acrylic/acrylic blends, then there's the cotton/cotton blends with a needle case full of spare needles. Last tub is regular wool that was a gift from my mom, a sick kit, and yarn that's was a gift from a nurse I work with (she crochets!) who received it from someone and didn't know what to do with it, asked if I wanted it, and said if i couldn't/didn't want to use it, I could always pass it along as well. And then there's the little roller shelf cart that I keep by my chair so I can organize things while I work on them, and a hat kit! Which I will attempt at some point once I finally get the hang of knitting in the round! Which is supposed to be easy but my fingers don't like to cooperate sometimes! 😒 there are some people who may say that all that yarn isn't necessary, that I may have a problem. To which I say lies and slander and I DON'T have a problem I can stop anytime I want, really. <.<; I was always an arts and crafts kid anyway, this is just...a bigger version of that and I get to make useful things! 😀
Babe!!! Babe!!! you've got so many gorgeous projects going on and so much gorgeous yarn in stock!!
Seriously the color choices you're throwing down are superb!! Everything looks so fucking good!!
And the completed stuff!?! Seriously fantastic too. And I agree with the watermelon thing. They turned out great as is but they would have been beyond cute with the beads in !! Hey that's always something you can go for next time.
I love seeing your art like this because you're doing so good!!

15 Questions Tag
Thank you @xhekovsky for the tag!!
Were you named after anybody? My parents picked my first name after Guinevere (the Arthurian character). Jennifer is the modern day version of it. They picked my middle name because of a Star Trek character lol.
When was the last time you cried? Couple days ago I think? I'm rewatching When Calls the Heart and it literally never fails to make me cry (in a good way).
Do you have kids? No, but I have a goddaughter, and my neighbour called me her "other co-parent" to her two kids which made me feel all soft and gooey inside bc I love her kids to death (I nannied her youngest a couple years ago and babysit/care for them pretty regularly now).
Do you use sarcasm a lot? (Stealing Leaf's response bc basically same) "the natural tone and cadence of my voice comes of fairly sarcastic to people". I do also use sarcasm, though but yeah, sometimes people can't tell if I'm being sarcastic or not lol.
What sports do you play/have you played? I didn't really do any sports unless you count dance, which I did for about five years when I was a kid.
What's the first thing you notice about someone? It depends on the person. I don't have just one thing I notice because different people have different defining features.
Eye color? Blue-grey.
Scary movies or happy endings? This question annoys me because those two are not comparable lmao. Like. Scary movies are a genre, whereas happy endings are an aspect of a movie and could appear in all kinds of movies.
Any special talents? Picking up on tiny details that literally nobody else notices or cares about lol. Especially when I'm watching a movie or show or reading! Partly this is because I'm seeing the world as a writer, picking up on minute details in other forms of media that I could incorporate or leave out of my own work. It annoys my parents though when I point out every tiny thing when we're watching stuff lol.
Where were you born? Nova Scotia, Canada (east coast).
What are your hobbies? Writing, reading, painting, drawing, singing, playing the ukulele, watching baseball and hockey, knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, gardening, playing Minecraft.
Do you have pets? Yesss. A senior beagle named Cookie!
How tall are you? 5'5"ish?
Favorite subjects in school? In junior high and high school it was science (mainly biology and chemistry) because I was good at it and my whole family are science people so I felt like I had to like it. In university though, it's been social sciences subjects like anthropology and geography, and humanities courses like religion and English.
Dream job? An English teacher and an author! I'm working towards applying for a BEd for the fall of 2024, and have several novels in the works, so fingers crossed!!
I think some people have done this already, but tagging @wonderlandsandi @frostysfrenzy @introvertedperson16 @joshua-roy and @canadian-as-puck <3

I hate that people are pushing AI art with the Common reasoning behind it being "art is so expensive and inaccessible to get into :("
While this CAN be true (see: marble sculpting, machine sewing, etc) this isn't the entire case.
You can find yarn at Thrift shops. You can find knitting/crochet needles and hooks at Thrift shops. You can get a $5 hand sewing kit that will last a very long time. All you really need is a couple different needle options, a thimble if you want to save ur fingers, and a ripped piece of clothing.
All you need to paint is cheap paints. Will they last long? Depends how you treat it. Keep ur eyes open for sales coupons and discounts. If you're dedicated to learning the craft, you can do as I did saving quarters and dollars that I didn't use for food and basic necessities to save up for mediocre art supplies and paper to practice my skills between shifts.
Like..... I don't want to take away how hard art can be when you are disabled. I know from experience that if you don't have energy, you don't have energy. If you're in pain, that comes first.
But even then. We have tools to make things easier. There's wrist supports of all sorts, there's tutorials on making things like yarn work more accessible. There's predictive correction for drawing software now! Sometimes it's AI, but not the kind that's stealing your artwork. Its the kind that reads your movements and cleans up the jitters in the linework for you.
There's so much out there!!!! Art is more accessible than ever!!!!! Hell if you have a half decent laptop blender still offers older versions of their software!!!! You don't need a top of the line computer to do that!!!!! Don't have a computer??? Obviously you must have a phone or other device to log into apps on!!! Download a free sculpting app. Download a flip-book animator. Use an online web browser based art tool. Put thought and care and love into your piece. Throw that shit together hastily. Idc but it will be better than trying to type out prompts till the machine gives you something close to what you want.
#maybe its the rabid artist in me thats made me work harder and jump thru more hoops but. why is it so hard for people to google#“how to (art piece) with (disability)” or “how to (do art) for cheap”#like. idk. art is more acessable now than ever before#please please please do some art. for yourself. for your brain.#make bad art. make brilliant art. spend five seconds doodling or hours on detail#throw yourself into it#its worth it#the act of creation is worth it

i don't feel like editing my first draft prose but it's fun (cw for terminal illness and verbal abuse)
Her father's death was a long time coming. He'd lain in his bed for weeks; even with the windows open and flowers stuffed in every corner of the room, the stale scent of death clung to him. In the later days, he slept most of the time. Jess would sit in his room for hours, knitting out long, tangled scarves like a child with her first crochet hook. They spilled out across the floor and wrapped themselves up around her rocking chair, so she was forced to stop and pull them free.
Sometimes, he would wake up. These moments of consciousness were heralded by a long rattling gasp, breath clawing its way into his lungs. Jess wished he would stay asleep. Whatever woke in his body was not her father. He spoke to her in a voice as hard and sharp as the edge of a knife, stabbing into her with each word. Her father hadn't always been kind, but he had known how to wrap his works in a soft blanket of masked language, so she would only piece together his real meaning hours later. By the time he hurt her, it had been too long, and he would pretend he didn't remember what she was talking about. But the version of him that remained after parts of his body and mind had been scraped away by illness, this one didn't hide his intentions. She would sit and listen to him, and pull her stitches too tight, so she struggled to push her second knitting needle through them.
And then, one day, when she walked into his room in the morning, he was dead.
She stared down at his body in the bed. His skin was gray—grayer than it had been, his lips so pale they blended into the rest of his gaunt face. He didn't breathe. When she touched his forehead, it was colder even than the room around him. The morning air seeping in through the open window was already warm with summer heat, but he was ice cold.
She should have been relieved. Instead, panic boiled up in her chest. His illness had been her routine for so long she thought it would never end, it couldn't end—what would she do now? She couldn't imagine a future without this, without every day spent in this never-changing room, a permanent limbo of deterioration without death. Her scarf, so long now that it spilled out of the bundle in her arms and tripped her up while she walked, fell to the ground as her arms went limp. All she could do was stare at her father—at his corpse.
She didn't run back out to the kitchen to tell her family. They were sitting at breakfast in the golden light that broke past the lacy curtains. The clink of coffee mugs and their cheerful chatter drifted down the hall. She would walk to them, stand at the end of the table casting a shadow over them, and tell them the world had changed. She couldn't do that. She couldn't bear to think of it.
All she wanted was for things to stay the same. For his body to never leave this room. She knelt and picked up the long spools over her scarf off the floor.
His dead face lay frozen on the pillow. She placed one end of her scarf over his eyes. Gently lifting his head—rigor mortis had already passed, his neck bent as easily as it had in life—she wrapped the scarf around his hair, back over his nose and mouth. Around and around, she wound the scarf down his entire body.
When it was done, when she could no longer see that life had left him, she sat back in her rocking chair. Picking up the end of the scarf, she looped yarn around her fingers and kept knitting.
writing while my back hurts means my professor is going to get a real weird short story

What the Batfam Stress Does (in my humble opinion <3)
Jason - Stress bakes! If something's worrying him he'll break into the manor at 3 AM because the kitchen is nice and the only reason anyone knows is when they wake up to five loaves of bread and like a hundred cookies. He did the same thing when he was Robin too.
Dick - Climb. He's always climbing things and getting on top of things, he may as well be allergic to the floor, but when he's stressed he starts trying to climb the cave walls or get on top of a water tower or something. It gives him a way to work out the energy and being up high is relaxing for him.
Steph - Crochets, violently. She's generally idly working on something, but you know Steph is stressed when you look over to see her crocheting at near inhuman speeds. She also tends to make sweaters when stressed, especially for Bruce for some reason???? No one dares inquire about it.
Cass - Stress dancer. There's two versions of stressed Cass dancing. 1. The most perfectly executed ballet that will ever be performed, or 2. The most crazy, early 2000s montage bedroom dancing to a playlist Steph made her.
Damian - Kitting. Alfred taught him how to knit to try and give him an outlet for his emotions (or a hobby that wasn't murder related) and then Damian followed in Steph's footsteps of doing a relatively calm hobby in the most aggressive way one can (they do it together if they're both worried.) If you start walking into a room and hear a very fast clickclickclick, leave.
Barbra- Stressed Babs paints her nails. Meticulously. She does tiny delicate nail art and will do a different theme and color palette on each nail. She always has them painted with little accents (she likes the look of pretty nails while she's typing) but when they turn intricate and mismatched you should probably check on her.
Tim - Hard to say about someone who is constantly stressed, but weirdly enough he just sort of stops? Like he's always stressed but if that amount of stress gets too much higher he just shuts down. It's strange, but a stressed Tim plays Minecraft for days straight or scrolls on his phone for hours, always occupied but not getting anything done. The more chill he looks, the more he's internally freaking out.
Duke - He runs when stressed. You know that one scene from New Girl? That's what happens when Duke starts going on jogs. He's always training of course but he's busy with school and Signal stuff so going on a jog around the neighborhood isn't a normal thing he makes time for. That is, unless you have a stressed Duke on your hands.
Bruce - Working of course. He won't leave the cave and he sends a lot of check in texts. Both of those things are things he usually does but at a certain point it gets obvious something is wrong. Well... More wrong than usual I mean.
Alfred - Stress cleaner. It's his job of course but a stressed Alfred will start polishing every single thing in the whole manor. He'll start dusting things with only a speck of dust on them. Not even Superman will be able to save you if you don't clean up after yourself when Alfred is stressed.

Got any HCs about the bad sanses, if you do those guys?
Oooooh I can definitely try!!!
(disclaimer this will at least partially be based on @saphirathedragon 's version of the bad Sanses, who,,,, have not been introduced in her fic yet lol but I'll try to keep them away from her interpretation as much as possible to avoid personality spoilers lol)
Hcs for the bad Sanses coming right up!!
Horror is SUCH a mother hen, he can and will tie you to a chair and force feed you if he finds out you've been skipping meals and he *will* VICIOUSLY cuddle you until you fall asleep if you have insomnia or if you've been staying up absurdly late.
Killer is such a snart, he will tease you mercilessly and pranks are neverending with him. Of course, if he can tell you're genuinely upset or about to murder him he'll try to ease up on them a bit or leave himself purposely open to revenge pranks (he's so obvious about it it's almost no fun, but sometimes Horror will help incapacitate him so you can tickle Killer to your heart's content.
(it just occurred to me idk if you wanted fluffy hcs, angsty hcs, or a mixture of both but since I'm kinda in a fluffy mood today it'll probably be mostly fluff lol. U can send in another ask if you want more angsty hcs)
I hc that Dust's love language is absolutely quality time. Maybe some physical touch thrown in there but his receiving love language is totally quality time and giving gifts. He is the type that will find something shiny or something you mentioned you were interested in and leave it surreptitiously by your bedside. (You only found out it was him when you carried it around wherever you went and you saw Dust blush when he saw you with it). For the quality time, he's the type of person you could totally just put on a movie and hang out with or just sit in silence with him, each of you doing your own thing and he would love it.
Nightmare (begrudgingly and ONLY because your face is so cute he can't resist) lets you call him goop-goop. If anyone else tries it they will find themselves scrubbing the dungeons with a toothbrush.
Error, as prickly as he seems, repays every gift he is given, though he's subtle about it (about as subtle as Dust lol, see the previous hc). If you give him a chocolate bar you will find the next day that your favourite sweater that's had a whole in it since forever has magically been fixed. If you bought him a new beanbag (this one's extra comfy and absolutely GINORMOUS!) you'll find that your favorite food has appeared in the pantry. Give him something you sewed/knitted/crocheted? Well first of all you will see him wearing it/holding it/tucking it back into his pocket when it starts to slip out ALL the time. Then you'll find a doll on your bed, the perfect size to cuddle with, hand-knitted with so much care you can feel it emanating from it (though that little prickly feeling is still there). Maybe you'll even find a little gift for you before you've given him a gift sometimes. One time you find a little chocolate kiss on your bedside.
Ok I'm not too sure if Cross is actually a "bad sans (though I suppose "bad" is up for debate for all of them but that's a whole nother thing) but heck why not include him so hc that Cross is just. An absolute Dork. He absolutely watches game shows like Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy and will yell out the answers excitedly if he knows them, only to sit back and blush once he realizes how loud he was. Don't worry though, you're quick to reassure him with a quick snuggle and maybe you throw out an answer once in a while too.
Thank you for the request hon!!!!!
