Day 16: something you’ve been bullied for
#i don’t think i’ve ever been bullied#but i certainly wasn’t cool lol#this is an homage to my friends and i writing naruto yaoi fanfics during class#it was before any of us had smartphones#so we were passing physical notes back and forth#as a security measure we wrote them in various ciphers#they’re probably still hiding in various boxes and bags from back then lmao#naruto#deidara#sasori#pumpkins#fall#heckart#digital art#artists on tumblr#cringetober 2024#icryink#tobi as a pumpkin

just purchased a new phone after 7 (going on 8) years of having the same phone. i feel like i'm going to throw up
where my "i hate to spend money even if it's necessary" bitches at??
#this thing has been through the ringer.. dropped. kicked. forgotten in a hot car. spilled on.. you name it#it's hanging on by a thread.. but it has served me well.. i may hold a funeral for it#also i hate that nearly all smartphones have excessive ai integration now..#and the cheaper ones like from the galaxy A series have bloatware and shorter security update periods#i ended up choosing the pixel 8a for the safety features and security update period#plus i know the pixel series is good for some open source OS software you can port onto it instead of what it currently has#i think it's called grapheneOS

everybody's moral panicking about what The Apps are doing to The Children but nobody warned me what The Apps will do to the brains of kittens
#i cannot use my tablet anymore because the developing brains of these two babies got accidentally rewired#to obsess over my smartphone and tablet and now they calm down when given them like they are security blankets#and when not given them...they stomp on them until i change my mind#(it's even worse with my laptop. lol. one is a hacker even more talented than griffin was and she's still so little#the other isn't as interested in making things happen but he absolutely will not stop until he has pressed the power key#long enough that the computer turns off without saving anything i had open--and then he lays down on it calmly)#i typed this up weeks ago and then never posted it? i must have saved it to avoid kitten interference#(they're even more tech-talented now lol)#hurricane shay with one peach paw#bly the sweetest boy with the biggest ears#everything is better with kittens#life stuff

I fucking hate multifactor authentication. Not only am i now obliged to have a smartphone nearby at all times when working, which is distracting, but now the damn thing broke and i can neither login nor register a new device under my account because the link will be sent to my smartphone...which is broken.Fucking useless.
also is it just me or is tying access to basic services to a single fairly fragile device in our age of planned obsolescence fucking stupid?
all i want is to check my schedule and where i need to be on Monday.
#idc about security anymore whoever wants to read my boring uni emails is welcome to them. just get rid of this nonsense#they made it mandatory this year but it's crappy and literally everyone i've talked to hates it#at least nowadays it only takes two tries on average to login. An improvement.#by the time my new phone gets delivered it'll be weekend and the IT service probably won't reply until Monday.ugh.#multi factor authentication#smartphones#planned obsolescence#account security#complaining#IT bullshit#fucking useless

I’m sorry but if you don’t want your kid to be on a fucking [electronic] all day… maybe don’t give your kid their own [electronic]?
#maybe it’s just the Grew Up Poor in me but like#your kid shouldn’t have their own computer until they need one for school. The Family Computer out in the Common Area is perfectly fine.#your kid shouldn’t have their own gaming system/tablet/smartphone until they can get a job and pay for it themselves.#sharing the Family Console/Devices promotes time management/limitation and sharing and internet safety/security on public#’networks’ (in this case… public DEVICES but… same core concept)#and a text/call only phone is all they really need and is MUCH cheaper especially given the average dexterity situational awareness and#responsibility level of a kid#and if you’ve done your job right they shouldn’t feel uncomfortable looking up anything they need to/are worried about on a shared device#since you should’ve been establishing honest and open and trusting communication from the beginning#but hey shit happens and if you weren’t able to lay that foundation that’s fine that’s what LIBRARY TIME is for#I’m serious start a routine take your kid to the library at least once a week and give them free reign I mean FREE reign#(as long as their behavior is appropriate)#and they can have some time to access whatever info they’re not comfortable asking you about
