And so he gave his daughter a kiss on the head as he left for work, and a big old Beartic hug when he returned, instead. His little princess would protest, saying that Clay was all dirty, but he’d scoop her up anyway. After all, one day she’d go and get all big, and then she’d refuse ta hug her daddy at all, he’d lament. He’d intended it as a joke, and yet, every time, his eyes got just a tad misty. Before he can clench his teeth too tightly, he’s bumped out of his thoughts by Red’s elbow and one of his softer smiles. With a sigh, he stops and peers over the mountain ranges where Johto meets Kanto. As much as he hates the interruption, he’s unable to look away. What a place to call home, he thinks, forgetting to blink.

Headcanon: there's a couple of legendary pokemon who reside on Dotaku in absolute secret (minor ones like Suicune or Latios) who enjoy the fact that no one tries to bother them there

Whether Peach knows is mystery but either way she's not telling and doesn't care in the slightest unless it brings unwanted attention

Shes aware of the Raikou who passes by once or twice a year, and knows the Island could very well be in the flight path of a Zapdos, it's come by once before, but its a rare sighting to see them, and no ones encouraged to track them shoudl they think they saw them.

If asked, peach will wave it off as Zoroark. even though none reside on the island, no one needs to know that. Stantler can cause mass hallucinations and theyve got a big herd on Dotaku, or maybe a psychic type playing tricks on you did it.

But she knows theyre around. leaves them WELL alone.

Pokémon Reborn Screenshot Let's Play: Chapter 18

Helloooooooo again, everyone. The release of this chapter was delayed by a few days from when I intended to release it, it’s finals season after all, but luckily it hasn’t been too bad. Indeed, what a normal day this is, and what a normal game I am playing! This game is so normal, it’s such a nice and kind fan project, nothing horrifying happened in the last part! In fact, just to prove it, here’s the recap:

Everything was perfectly normal.

And now in this part, everything will continue to be normal as we continue progressing on our completely normal journey through the Pokémon League!

…Yeah, okay, no more pretending, last chapter was grim. Not enough to stop me from still playing this game, not in the slightest, but still, well- well. It might be better to just do the actual recap to explain what exactly went down for those who may need a refresher.

CW: suicide

Xera follows the police officers to the Beryl Ward Gym, where Corey fled following his exposure as Team Meteor agent Borealis. However, a strange gas was released, causing the officers to go mad and battle anyone they see.

Xera defeats the officers and brings them back to their senses, then unlocks a secret room in the Gym. Turns out, this room is the apartment where Heather and Corey live; while Heather is resting in bed, Xera finds Corey in another room.

Xera confronts Corey, who- despite everything- has a request for her. All he says is for Xera to meet him at the Gym’s arena.

Before facing Corey, Xera travels around catching a few new Pokémon: Ravine the Onyx, Cheer the Happiny, Ruxpin the Stufful, Ace the Taillow, Faline the Stantler, and Kirin the Girafarig.

Xera returns to the Beryl Ward Gym’s arena, where Corey is waiting. He explains that Heather was the one thing that kept him going all these years, and that his role as her father cannot coexist with his role as Agent Borealis- one of them must fall. As such, he challenges Xera to prove her strength and defeat Borealis once and for all.

After an intense fight that I definitely won on my first try, Corey is defeated- and as such, Borealis is defeated. With his loss, Corey asks Xera to protect Heather, as Team Meteor and one of its leading members- “Sirius”- will no doubt threaten her.

Heather suddenly enters the arena, having heard about what happened from one of the police officers. She’s outraged that her father was working for Team Meteor all along, denounces his (vague) attempts to explain, and decides to run away for good- having grown fed-up with Corey’s overprotectiveness anyways. After confirming that she still has her mother’s ring, Heather leaves.

With Heather gone and hating him, Corey says “it’s come to an end” and also leaves- but not before telling Xera to come to Beryl Bridge if she wants to see “a show.”

Xera also leaves the Gym, encountering an Absol along the way- a common warning sign of upcoming disaster. The Absol disappears into the hills shortly after.

On Beryl Bridge, Xera witnesses Corey releasing his Pokémon. He tells her about how the Ruby Ring was a gift he had given to his wife, who later passed away during Heather’s birth. While her death was initially claimed to have been caused by a machine failure, Corey later discovered she had been killed by Team Meteor to obtain the ring.

Corey goes on to explain that, while he was able to track down the man who killed his wife, make him regret what he had done, and retrieve the ring, an infant Heather was still threatened. In the end, Corey agreed to serve Team Meteor in exchange for Heather’s safety as well as the ring- a deal that has persisted twelve years later.

With nothing left to live for and determined to ensure Team Meteor cannot wage his life against Heather’s, Corey asks Xera one last time to protect Heather in his place before he throws himself from the bridge to his death.

Fern arrives shortly after, having only seen Corey/Borealis jump from the bridge, and mocks him- he was still an enemy, after all. However, Fern does point out that he fell into Lapis Ward, if Xera wanted to go down and check in on the aftermath.

Suddenly, the ground tremors, and a huge plume of smoke is spotted rising from North Obsidia Ward. Fern rushes off to investigate, leaving Xera on the bridge to contemplate what has happened.

So uh- yeah. This game has advertised itself as being darker than the official Pokémon games, and the events of last chapter really drive that home. And truly, with us still being fairly early in the game, I’m sure it’s just gonna get darker from here. But hey, we persist on regardless- there’s plenty more to see, after all, and a sudden explosion to investigate. So, let’s get into it!
