hm. i feel like I'm not unhinged enough for the past few days. here's my old-but-reworked omegaverse headcanon tier list.
#re zero#i actually was gonna look for my queer headcanon tier list but then i realised I'm bored. so.#putting my omegaverse scholar glasses on#firstly“pretends” doesnt really apply to crusch and felix. they are destroying these secondary genders with hammers i can tell you that muc#todd is an omega. fear about your Secret Identity being discovered.... classic omega archetype.#that adds to the conflict with subaru#also. subaru. raised in a shadow of his perfect alpha dad. riddled with complexes as a result.#similar deal with heinkel i think.#vincent as an asexual alpha......#emilia's alpha identity is scrutinized and stigmatized by society because satella also was an alpha#julius is the most beautiful beta subaru has ever seen. really out here slaying these stereotypes left and right#reinhard is a perfect alpha with a duty to continue the blood line of sword saints#regulus is deeply self-conscious about being an omega. stopping all bodily processes? seems very convenient#i actually haven't thought about what would their smells be like yet. hm. my mistake.#i think subaru would smell like a wet asphalt or gasoline or something else from earth and everybody would be like hey what a fuck is that#rem hates the smell of gasoline 😔😔😔#emiilia smells like frost. easy. traumatising.#julius smells like old books... or maybe steel#reinhard has a divine protection of perfect smell... every person who smells him smells their favourite scent#meanwhile reinhard adds that to his already long list with reasons for identity crisis#regulus probably smells like vanilla lmao

It’s not a secret anymore, your engagement with Veritas is widely spread throughout the Intelegensia Guild, even the Genius Society heard about the news, how can it not spread ?. You’re both highly respected scholars although both have different approaches to teaching you both still excel in your respective fields. However, no one knows that this arrangement of yours is out of convenience, but you and he agreed that it’ll be mutually beneficial if you both marry
“Let’s marry, I know well that this proposal lacks romance since I’m not marrying for love it’s just I’m quite tired of people pestering about my personal life and it seems you too are tired of people pursuing you, even if it is a loveless marriage I would take care of you and be loyal to you till the end of my breath, so please do think about my proposal because to be frank I can’t seem to imagine spending the rest of my life with someone else,”
That was what he said while you were in the middle of discussing a project with him, the sudden proposal shocked you of course but after mulling it for a week you decided to agree with his proposal, you weren’t expecting a ring but he did give you one, surprisingly it first your ring finger perfectly
You know very well that love is out of the equation in this future marriage of yours, Veritas never seemed to be interested in pursuing love and you respected that but now it seems like you’ve been craving more than you signed up for, it’s started when he first asks you to live with him, it was shocking of course but you’re going to be his wife anyways so why not start early to assimilate to the new environment and dynamic
Things start to go downhill from there since he does these little things. For example, all of the cutlery, knives, plates, and spices were high up on the shelves when you first moved in. He noticed that you struggled grabbing simple things from the shelves, hence he redesigned his whole kitchen to make things more accessible to you
Well the other thing that made you develop feelings for him is your sleeping arrangements, he made you a room inside of his house fully furnished with your favourite books and even your own office inside, the room is hand painted beautifully with your favourite colour when you ask who decorated the room he bashfully replied that all of the things inside your room is fully constructed and decorated by him, is this a loveless marriage you keep pondering over and over as you lay your restless body on the couch
Veritas promised you that he would come home early today to help you with your dissertation, but it seems he’ll be late again. You can’t help but wonder if he has someone out there, but it can’t be he told you himself he would be loyal to you, but you can’t seem to dismiss such a thought
You knew what you signed up for but you still can’t help but fall for him, how naive. Your eyes crystallised as you tried to conceal your feelings, the warmth of your cardigan couldn’t help to warm the loneliness you’ve been feeling, if Veritas was here he would laugh at you, you thought to yourself
You fell asleep on the couch, tired from the stress of your upcoming dissertation. It seems that when you’re already blissfully unaware of the real dimension Veritas comes home. He calls your name to no avail only to see you sleeping soundly on the couch, your cheeks wet from the tears you shed, it tugs a string on his chest as he examines you curled up all by yourself to produce some kind of warmth
Without much thought he quickly took off his coat and put his briefcase on the coffee table in front of you, he sat beside your head before slowly lifting it and resting it upon his thighs. He had always hated to admit his feelings towards you, he thought it was a weakness for him to have, but he has always liked you
He finds it hard to express himself and find it harder to acknowledge that he wants more than this loveless marriage, he was too afraid that you’re not keen towards the idea of loving someone with his track record, and he certainly does not have the best qualities to possess as a husband, yet he would try to become better to make you happy
But it seems he fails to do so, he silently gazes upon your expression, his thumb wipes away the tear stain of your soft skin, he can’t help but question himself, if you wake up would you hate him for this ?
He quietly sighs as he drags his coat and covers your body with it, his hand brushes through your hair softly while grabbing your dissertation off the table, he feels worse than before seeing that you prepared a hot drink and snacks for him before you accidentally fell asleep
So the least that he could do is to let you rest while he reads the contents of your dissertation, your hair feels soft so soft that he can’t seem to focus on your dissertation without petting it
Reading your dissertation is like reading what’s inside of your captivating mind he loves so much, he can’t help but feel lucky that you’ll have his last name soon, that he could flaunt you as a partner as someone equal in future events because he truly thinks that you are his other half
You both have disagreements on certain things yet somehow complement each other so beautifully that he can’t help but feel like he was made to be yours, feeling your skin against his palm as he cups your cheek further proves his hypothesis that his hands are made to hold you, love you, worship you
But his foolish ego seems to restrict him from such necessities, his inability to profess his love verbally would cost him you sooner or later, he just hopes that you could feel how he cares
He never explicitly told you about his adoration for you, yet he’s willing to show you instead hoping one day you’ll see how badly he has fallen for you
He kept lightly tracing your cheeks as he continued to read your dissertation, that’s when you flutter your eyes open, feeling ticklish from the light touch, “Veritas ?,
“Yes dearest ?,” once your eyes meet with his, he knows very well that’s the moment the walls he built and the ego he has dissipate into thin air

Dark writing prompts
Some dark writing prompts for the cold winter days :) Number five is my favorite. I wrote a short story about it once. Which one is your favorite?
In a world where emotions are harvested as a powerful energy source, a secret society emerges, exploiting the pain and suffering of individuals to fuel their dark ambitions.
A mysterious antique mirror appears in an old, abandoned house. Anyone who gazes into it experiences glimpses of their worst fears coming to life. What happens when the mirror falls into the wrong hands?
In a dystopian future, a government experiment to control crime goes horribly wrong. Citizens start experiencing their darkest impulses as physical manifestations, leading to chaos and destruction.
A cursed town is shrouded in perpetual darkness, and every year, a single resident must willingly sacrifice themselves to lift the curse for a brief moment. This year, the chosen one has a secret that could change everything.
A talented artist discovers that their paintings have the power to alter reality. However, with each stroke of the brush, a piece of their soul is consumed, leaving them on the brink of madness.
A small community is plagued by a series of unexplainable events, each linked to a children's nursery rhyme. As the rhyme predicts the next tragedy, the townsfolk desperately try to break the curse before it claims them all.
A scientist creates a device that allows people to relive their happiest memories. However, as they delve deeper into the technology, they uncover a hidden layer of forgotten, traumatic experiences that could shatter lives.
In a post-apocalyptic world, survivors discover an underground bunker containing a mysterious machine that claims to offer a chance at resurrection. However, the price to bring someone back is the sacrifice of another life.
A cursed book is said to grant its reader unimaginable knowledge, but at the cost of their sanity. As a desperate scholar seeks its pages, they must confront the malevolent entity within that hungers for their mind.
A detective investigates a series of gruesome murders that seem to be connected by a chilling pattern. As they get closer to the truth, they realize the killer might be something otherworldly, feeding on the fear they instill in their victims.

Title: "Veiled Shadows of the Nightfall"
Genre: Fantasy, Mystery
As dusk settled over the sprawling city of Morwen, an eerie stillness seeped into the cobbled streets. The setting sun cast long shadows that danced with the flickering lights of the lampposts. Night after night, cloaked figures emerged from the darkened alleyways. The hooded men, known only as the Night Watchers, were feared and revered in equal measures.
These spectral silhouettes roamed the labyrinthine cityscape, patrolling in perfect synchrony under the starlit sky. Their hoods concealed their faces, making it impossible to discern their identities. An uncanny aura surrounded them - whenever someone passed underneath their cloaks, they vanished, never to be seen again.
Rumours whispered through the city like the chilly winter breeze. Some believed the disappeared were taken to serve a forgotten deity, others feared they were claimed by death itself, while a few insisted they had been transported to a different realm.
In the heart of Morwen lived an audacious scholar named Elara. Intrigued by the enigmatic Night Watchers, she dedicated herself to unravel the mystery of the hooded figures and the disappeared. One night, she decided to follow them, armed with nothing more than her courage and her relentless thirst for knowledge.
However, her pursuit of truth was fraught with danger. Elara was not the only one with an interest in the Night Watchers. The power-hungry Duke Thorne sought to control the hooded figures, to use their powers for his own sinister ambitions.
As Elara ventured deeper into the shadows, the line between friend and foe blurred. She was treading a treacherous path, where one wrong step could result in her disappearance.
The story now rests at the crossroads of Elara's daring pursuit and Duke Thorne's menacing plans. Will Elara unlock the secrets of the Night Watchers, or will she vanish like those before her? How does Duke Thorne intend to manipulate these mysterious powers?
Behind the veiled shadows of the Nightfall, Morwen holds her breath, awaiting the dawn that may, or may not, reveal the truth.

The Chinese Empire in the 18th century.
by cartesdhistoire/instagram
« Atlas du millénaire – La mort des empires 1900-2015 », G. Chaliand & J.-P. Rageau, Hachette, 1998
In the 1590s, Nurhachi, one of the leaders of the Djurtchet, a Tungusic people living in what would become Manchuria, imposed his authority on the various clans. He reorganized them into eight “banners” (military formations of several thousand men), before declaring war on the Chinese of Liaodong in 1618. Abahai, his son, seized the imperial seal of the Yuan, decreed in 1636 that all the Djurtchet would form only one people, the Manchus, and proclaimed himself emperor, founding the Qing (“pure”) dynasty.
In 1644, the Chinese general Wu Sangui called on the Manchus to expel the rebel leader Li Zicheng who had seized Beijing. Having become master of Beijing in his turn, Dorgon, regent in the name of Abahai's son, had his nephew proclaimed Emperor of China under the name of Shunzhi (r. 1643-1661). The country then remained to be conquered, which would take about forty years.
While relying on the military strength of the banners, the Qing conformed to what Confucian tradition expected of an emperor and showed respect for Chinese institutions, starting with the administration. This earned them the loyalty of scholars, even if the wearing of the braid (imposed from the beginning by Dorgon) was not easily accepted. In addition, the Qing benefited from great dynastic stability with Kangxi (1661-1722), Yongzheng (1722-1736) and Qianlong (1736-1796).
During this period, China, of which Siam, Korea, Vietnam, Burma and Nepal were still tributaries, was prosperous and powerful. It conquered Tibet, Mongolia, Xinjiang and managed to temporarily halt the Russian advance.
From 1683, when Kangxi restored order throughout southern China, until the end of the 18th century, peace was assured and China experienced its last cultural flowering of quality. The end of the 18th century was marked by a series of revolts, the most important of which was that of the White Lotus, an anti-Manchu secret society (1795).

Tfp Headcanons:
Orion Pax from the Shattered Glass Transformer Prime Universe was always a renowned scholar. He had published countless influential papers and is a professor on more than one subjects. Meanwhile, Megatronus was an illiterate gladiator who had been finding some of his writing from data pads that he secretly stole from guards and audiences, and had been teaching himself to read with it while alone in his chamber at night. Eventually, Megatronus managed to sneak away from the arena for a few days when he learned this professor is visiting Kaon to write papers on the politics of the location. And when Orion came, Megatronus found him and begged him to teach him how to write and read, so he can also bring influence in this world through literature, like he did.
Orion Pax agreed, and so, he meets with Megatronus daily in secret, where he taught him reading, math, science, politics, arts, everything he knows. But other than technical knowledge, he also taught him about morality, empathy, problem solving, as well as how to be compassionate, persuasive, and loveable, as well as other wisdoms.
And even after Orion left, he continued exchanging letters with Megatronus to keep teaching him. This lasted for many Cybertronian years, and Orion tried to find ways to come back to Kaon as often as possible.
It was because of his teachings that Megatronus was able to fight back against his oppressors successfully, and persuade others to help him and all those that are oppressed as well. It was because of his teachings that Megatronus was able to start successful and none-violent revolutions to hope to create a more just society on Cybertron.
So when Orion changed and turned against Cybertron, it greatly confused Megatronus. This was the mech who taught him to be kind, to be honest, to be selfless and compassionate. Who helped him to become who he was today. But yet this mech turned against his own teaching more than anyone else.
But despite so, Megatronus was determined to hold onto Orion’s teachings, even if he himself doesn’t anymore.

Hii! I saw ur reqs are open!! :D if its ok can I request dottore (+segments) relationship hcs?
DOTTORE (+SEGMENTS) RELATIONSHIP HC
introductions were short and brief, a simple hello before you got to work alongside him, or the multiple hims. (very confusing to digest at the very start)
an assistant, supposedly an easy job for just about anyone. but it isnt just anyone youre working for, its a harbinger and his multiple freaky clones, come on !
being dragged off to help fairly younger versions of him with their experiments of dubious ethical values, being careful as to do your best.
one wrong move and youll end up in the cleaners, great job prospect for you !! surprisingly enough though, they accept you in their circle.
compared to the older versions of him, the younger segments are less guarded... and more carefree. you joke around with em, you bring them gifts and they happily accept em.
you talk to em and slowly but surely they start revealin parts of their history. fast movin experiments, considerable murders and lotsa studying within the academiya was what they told you about.
you accepted them for them with a little hesistance, but still do. and to their delight (?), not very clear they come to seek for you. yearn is silent within all dotttore variants, but mutual respect becomes one sided puppy love.
dumb crushes and the ruse they put up, being in love.. they did not realize you were also a scholar, one with a little more sense of social awareness. soon enough you cracked open their supposedly top secret plot.
their eagerness and surprising acceptance leads you to work with some of the older clones. a challenging next step for you.
blunt and close guarded, thats whats you came to know the few late adult clones as.
engaging in conversation which would lead to laughter and giggles with the young adult variants quickly fell on deaf ears.
you became used to ignoring and being ignored, and you came to miss the younger guys, repeatedly seeking them out.
using your lunch break to talk to the younger bunch, some of them really liked you some of then merely respected you and that was normal within their little society.
talking and lunching, before being found out by the superiors. it was your lunch break, you were mortal and you needed to eat but the segments didnt.
fighting back and through persuasive means you managed to lure a few older clones, little by little.
sweet dinners lit by the firelight and you were able to seduce a couple of older clones into talking, they told you about their plights and you listened.
touchstarved and unloved were the segments, and you could change that. you could. brushing hands and sitting a little closer before ultimately hugging them.
definetly the begginning of the end, and in little to no time did you have an older segment in your lap resting while you ran your fingers across their hair.
then there were two, then three segments, then four, and eight and more. all competing for affection, all yearnin for something they hadnt experienced.
one day IL DOTTORE stepped in though, the real deal, the doctor.
heard of all the talk from within the grapevine, a distraction and there could be no distractions for the segments.
they were an extension of him, carefully crafted to do their individual jobs. careful workers, guarded and alone. a part of his conciousness, and he knew he was indeed guarded and he had no need for any romantic nuisances around.
stepping into a room to find upwards of 4 segments all curled around you as you read a story. this was not bound to happen, not bound to when they needed to work.
he shooes them away, brushing them off before demanding you at once worked directly with him. whisking you away to a far away laboratory.
the doctor himself was cold, cold and harsh with everyone around him. yet with careful consideration, you managed to find the man within him.
soft bribes with the best pastries and careful hugs and caresses and he was under your spell, geez did he come to love you.
you promised him you would stay by his side, keep him company and suddenly a good part of his years looked better than before.
a gruff man, he knew himself to be cold and calculated but you threw him haywire somehow. he didnt know what could be.
until he did, he came to realize you loved him and from there on he didnt let go.
one step at a time, and slowly but surely you entered a state of relationship. a state of pure lovesick bliss.
whether it was romantic dinner dates or soft picnics, he loved it.
he came to tell you bits n pieces of his past and you held him all throughout, holding his face and kissing it gently much to his dismay (pleasure actually, but he wouldnt ever admit that).
as long as you were beside him, he was down.
you loved him and he loved you, and that was a given. even though he was cold and a bit egocentric, he still loved you n only you.
(A/N not proof read or spelling checked or grammae checked, sorey if this isnt what you qanted kinda went off the deep end geez )

Ruan mei!reader enter teyvat due to the unique elemental system as well the great mystery about the leylines and how do they work
Many people reported that an aircraft has landed in the sky, beyond celestia
Ruan mei!reader landed on liyue, they would immediately be investigated by the liyue Qixing, they were ordered to sign a contract to not ever attack or be some sort of threat to liyue.
Their presence would have caused great suspicion, since they come from the sky. if they did why didn't celestia stop them.
They would get along with Zhongli's personality. They would enjoy tea and dessert. Ruan mei would tend to share their desserts with him.
Even tho they are portrayed as a graceful and kind scholar, ruan mei! reader doesn't care what method they use, all they want is answers
Ruan mei!reader caught the attention of the fatui, a scholar from another world is studying their planet and technology which could take over hundreds of years to achieve it in their hands
Someone like dottore would be interested in ruan mei!reader, they both sound so similar but yet different, a few times he would invite them to a project together or discuss about topics.
They would be very curious about the archons as well as elemental life forms.
During their trip they stayed at a space ship, it will be able to see the planet entirely.

Screwllum would soon visit the planet and check the conditions of this world, as well to study the leylines with ruan mei this could be results of an upcoming projection together.
The reason why teyvat hasn't been discovered by the IPC is due to where teyvat resign, their planet is by far in the far corner of the universe which is usually out of reach.

It's no secret that the Red Temple of Volantis, and the vast majority of the R'hllorists in Essos, are considering Dany to be Azor Ahai reborn.
And it's equally no secret that Melisandre is off making a splinter sect of her own—rather than agree with the Dany-as-messiah hegemony, she's set her sights on Stannis Baratheon.
But these separate sects—and their potential—take on ever more meaning with the biblical parallels of their respective figureheads.
Dany has a series of paralleled images with Moses, if not wholly chronologically aligned: leading her people away from slavery, leading her people through a desert, communing with a magical fire and returning with a deified presence. I believe, in fact, that in the sense of this parallel she's in the middle of her trip to the top of Sinai, where some her followers believe her dead and begin to follow a false god leader in her absence.
So the Essosi branch of R'hllorism has this figurehead who is heavily paralleled with Moses...
and then Jon, then, for his part, is a heavy-handed Jesus figure, as we all know, with his betrayal and death at the hands of his brothers, his close allies with those who society rejects (Sam the effeminate scholar and Satin the prostitute), who is the de facto "king" of a refugee minority (the Wildlings) and who will be resurrected to return as a deity in truth.
The truth of Jon's return has the possibility to unite the two major factions of R'hllorists in Westeros. There's the small sect which is the Brotherhood Without Banners, or at least those not following Stoneheart, because the majority of their faith was earned through the proof of resurrection (of Beric) and who might follow another leader if he, too, seemed chosen by R'hllor (and was not as creepy or vengeful as LSH). Then there is the slightly larger sect which is Stannis' host and the Queen's Men in particular, who follow Melisandre's lead and believe in Stannis as Azor Ahai. If Melisandre changed her opinion for whatever reason—perhaps also through the "proof" of divine intervention via resurrection, then she and her followers, too, might follow Jon in the "cult of resurrection" so to speak.
Which would give us a geopolitical religious split along R'hllorist belief in who exactly is Azor Ahai, the Essosi sect believing that it's Dany, slave-freeing Moses-figure, and the Westerosi sect believing that it's Jon, resurrected king Jesus-figure.
Of course all of this comes with the caveat that Dany has her own Jesus parallels (wise men visiting her, "born" under a star) and Jon has his own Moses parallels, and of course that Jesus and Moses have plenty of parallels even themselves. I mean their status as major messiah figures is probably more nuanced than Moses/Jesus but it does make for an interesting divide. Not sure what it all means, to be honest, beyond noticing it.

Africa has been very rich even before colonialism
The truth you should know about African
Blacks know your history and divinity
They gave us the Bible and stole our natural resources
Community and Social Cohesion: Traditional African religions often emphasized communal values, fostering a sense of belonging and mutual support within the community. Rituals and ceremonies were communal events that strengthened social ties.
Respect for Nature: Many African traditional religions were deeply connected to nature, promoting a harmonious relationship with the environment. This connection often led to sustainable practices and a respect for the natural world.
Ethical Guidelines: These religions often included moral and ethical guidelines that governed interpersonal relationships. Concepts such as honesty, hospitality, and respect for elders were commonly emphasized.
Cultural Identity: Traditional African religions played a crucial role in shaping cultural identity. They provided a framework for understanding the world, explaining origins, and passing down cultural practices through rituals, myths, and oral traditions.
Islam reached Nigeria through a combination of trade, migration, and cultural interactions. The trans-Saharan trade routes were crucial in bringing Islam to the region. Muslim traders from North Africa and the Middle East ventured into West Africa, establishing economic ties and introducing Islam to local communities.
The city-states along the trade routes, such as Kano and Katsina, became significant centers for Islamic influence. Merchants not only engaged in commercial activities but also played a role in spreading Islamic teachings. Over time, rulers and elites in these city-states embraced Islam, contributing to its gradual acceptance.
Additionally, the spread of Islam in Nigeria was facilitated by the activities of Islamic scholars and missionaries. Scholars known as clerics or Mallams played a key role in teaching Islamic principles and converting people to Islam. They often established Quranic schools and engaged in educational activities that promoted the understanding of Islamic teachings.
Military conquests also played a part in the expansion of Islam in Nigeria. Islamic empires, such as the Sokoto Caliphate in the 19th century, emerged through conquest and warfare, bringing Islam to new territories. The Sokoto Caliphate, led by Usman dan Fodio, sought to establish a strict Islamic state based on Sharia law.
Overall, the spread of Islam in Nigeria was a gradual process influenced by trade networks, migration, the activities of scholars, and, at times, military expansion. The interplay of these factors contributed to the integration of Islam into Nigerian society, shaping its cultural and religious landscape.
In the vast tapestry of Africa's rich cultural heritage, herbal traditional healing stands out as a profound and time-honored practice. African herbal traditional healers, often known as traditional or indigenous healers, play a vital role in the healthcare systems of many communities across the continent. Their practices are deeply rooted in the natural world, drawing on centuries-old wisdom and an intimate understanding of local flora.
African herbal traditional healers are custodians of ancient knowledge, passing down their expertise through generations. They serve as primary healthcare providers in many communities, addressing a wide range of physical, mental, and spiritual ailments. The healing process involves a holistic approach, considering the interconnectedness of the individual with their community and environment.
One of the hallmark features of African herbal traditional healers is their profound knowledge of medicinal plants. These healers have an intricate understanding of the properties, uses, and combinations of various herbs. Passed down through oral traditions, this knowledge is often a well-guarded family secret or shared within the apprentice-master relationship.
The methods employed by herbal traditional healers encompass diverse approaches. Herbal remedies, administered as infusions, decoctions, or ointments, form a significant part of their treatment. These remedies are carefully crafted based on the healer's understanding of the patient's symptoms, lifestyle, and spiritual condition. Additionally, rituals, ceremonies, and prayers are often incorporated into the healing process, acknowledging the interconnectedness of physical and spiritual well-being.
African herbal traditional healers frequently integrate spiritual elements into their practice. They believe that illness can be a manifestation of spiritual imbalances or disharmony. Through rituals and consultations with ancestors or spirits, healers seek to restore balance and harmony within the individual and the community.
Herbal traditional healers are integral to the social fabric of their communities. They often serve not only as healers but also as counselors, mediators, and keepers of cultural traditions. Their practices are deeply intertwined with community life, contributing to the resilience and cohesion of African societies.
While herbal traditional healing holds immense value, it faces challenges in the modern era. The encroachment of Western medicine, issues related to regulation and standardization, and the potential exploitation of traditional knowledge pose threats to this practice. However, there is also a growing recognition of the importance of integrating traditional healing into mainstream healthcare systems, leading to collaborative efforts to preserve and promote this valuable heritage.
African herbal traditional healers are bearers of an ancient legacy, embodying a profound connection between humanity and the natural world. Their healing practices, rooted in herbal wisdom and spiritual insights, offer a unique perspective on healthcare that complements modern medical approaches. Preserving and respecting the knowledge of these healers is not only crucial for the well-being of local communities but also for the broader appreciation of the diverse cultural tapestry that defines Africa.

the mourn watch and necropolis are another faction and location that solidly work for what they are! but it’s an area (and a faction) without a lot of early plot drive (outside of emmrich’s personal quest), and one that could be a little more unique within the setting. SO the vision for the necropolis is:
the mourn watch as a faction predate chantry presence in nevarra, and as a result are both deeply entrenched, even revered in nevarran culture for their specific practices around burial and the sanctity of death, while also occupying a contentious position within this deeply andrastian society. since the chantry took hold in nevarra, the mourn watch have functioned at their discretion, with the chantry dictating the number of necromancers which can be inducted into the watch each year (rather than remaining circle mages) and drawing the line between acceptable necromancy and blood magic — always fuzzy in nevarra, where necromancers are seen as benign at worst, sacred spiritual leaders at best. and, with blighted gods on the loose and blood magic on the rise within and outside of tevinter, the chantry is cracking down.
by the time the story takes you to nevarra, the academics and caretakers of the dead which comprise the mourn watch are under scrutiny, given their constant flirtation with illegal magic through research and their ties to tevinter as a common site of training for magisters’ children. in the eyes of the chantry, the necropolis is turning from the deeply embedded culturally significant home of the mourn watch into a hotbed of necromancy, and with their close ties to the increasingly threatening magisterium (as well as the exclusive and secretive nature of necromantic magic), public perception is beginning to sway as well. within the necropolis, mourn watchers are divided on the question of how seriously to take this change, whether to ride it out or make plans to fortify against chantry action, but it is on everyone’s mind; npcs who don’t discuss their view of their own work will give opinions as to this issue, and mourn watcher rook can weigh in as well. the overarching quest devotes time to the hunt for rogue necromancer johanna hezenkoss (as in the game itself), though rather than working with the venatori she has allied with a faction of the imperial chantry seeking to control the blighted gods.
the main thing here is the atmosphere: this is a very unique area in the wider context of thedas, a blend of academic and spiritual, the mortalitasi both scholars and guides of the dead. there is a deep vein of culture here, spirituality and religious-adjacent feeling regarding the dead as well as more academic study of magic and spirits. quests in this area have more of a focus on puzzles and problem-solving, and we get to see the necropolis rearrange itself, as it’s noted to do; there are secret rooms to discover, puzzles to solve, and NPCs will react with disapproval to the breaking of urns and boxes in this area. one quest in the chain of hunting for hezenkoss requires rook to participate in a necromantic ritual, and rather than being referred to as a ‘professor’ with a formal class and curriculum, emmrich holds an arcane title of his own and mentors apprentices he occasionally checks on, who will comment on his standing and his dynamic with rook.

In the night of King’s Landing, Daemon and Rhaenyra Targaryen join themselves for the first time. In the night of King’s Landing, Alicent Hightower bears the pain of royalty for another. Twenty-one years later, on a stormy night above Storm's End, the results of that night change the history of the Seven Kingdoms.
(aka Aemond Targaryen goes up Rhaenyra's eldest as he hunts her in the skies, and the Dance of the Dragons takes a very, very different turn.)

chapter 2: the bells.
chapter 1: prologue.
In the night of King’s Landing, Daemon and Rhaenyra Targaryen join themselves for the first time. In the night of King’s Landing, Alicent Hightower bears the pain of royalty for another.
While the latter bears an intended consequence, the former bears another.
Months after a bloody, fateful wedding to Laenor Velaryon, is born a child. A girl, a spitting image of her mother with pale skin, silver hair and violet eyes. Premature, the maesters say to preserve Princess Rhaenyra’s dignity and secret. They say that sometimes babes are born looking just like one parent or another, and well, what different is this child from any other Targaryen born to another?
Daella, her mother names her. She wants to preserve the memory of her own mother Aemma, but that name brings up too much pain, so she honors her by naming the child after her own grandmother. A kind, sweet woman, taken far too early from the world in the battle of a birthing bed. Rhaenyra hopes her daughter will not suffer the same fate.
Two months before, the Red Keep had echoed with the cries of another birth, a boy named by his father in memory of his own brother. A second son, named after a second son. Aemond Targaryen, a Prince of the Realm. Alicent hopes he will grow up in a world free of pain and pressure, free from the heavy responsibility that rests on the shoulders of his brother Aegon.
Daella grows up knowing Ser Laenor as her father but Harwin Strong as her brothers’. She grows up with a dragon egg in her crib, a black beast she names Baelon, after her own great-grandfather. A name she does not know the dragon shares with a dead uncle. Aemond, on the other hand, suffers the affliction of never having known that companionship since he was little. While she spends her days behind her mother’s skirts wishing she had a sword in her hand instead of just a book, he spends his days becoming the object of his older brother’s ridicule.
Laenor indulges the girl at Dragonstone, teaching her the basics of sparring, telling her she has no reason to fully conform to the trappings of society. Rhaenyra notices the change in the way the seven year old stands, the way her arms rest, and gives her husband the flicker of a smile. In a castle many label desolate, Daella Targaryen finds freedom. She spends her days in the skies and in libraries, nose buried in a book or scratched from training.
In King’s Landing, Aemond Targaryen finds structure. He learns the history of his forebears, becomes the scholar that Viserys wished for, but finds the cold sting of rejection from his own father. He hurts and becomes resentful, but never truly angry. And then, Laena Velaryon passes.
Aemond claims Vhagar. Aemond gets ambushed. Aemond loses an eye.
It is pandemonium. His face hurts, his world swims, and he learns that he is alone in this world. He is robbed of his innocence, robbed of his eye, and robbed of his safety. He hears the pained cries of his mother, her beseeching turned to rage as she decides to take matters into her own hands. He watches as his proud brother is rendered helpless, Aegon a mere spectator to the injustice unfolding amongst them.
Daella is woken up from her bed as she arrives to a commotion, blood pooling in the green-clad boy’s hands. Daella watches her mother bleed. Daella learns that justice isn’t fair.
She sees Lucerys’ broken nose and bloodied face, the marks of a hand bruising Jacaerys’ neck. She looks for her father, nowhere to be seen. She sees her mother with Daemon, the man moving swiftly from spectator to protector as he shields their bodies with his, her small frame hidden fully by his towering form. She watches him crouch to her level, hands on her shoulders as he soothes her fears by telling her they will never come to harm anymore as long as he breathes. She asks him about the boy who just lost an eye, and how it isn’t fair. He tells her life isn’t fair, but what he gained is greater than what he lost.
Aemond Targaryen loses an eye, and gains a dragon. Daella Targaryen loses a father, and gains another.
Over time, the girls she had considered just her cousins become her sisters, and the man she had merely considered her uncle becomes her father. Her trueblood father, she learns on her thirteenth name day. Her mother and he sit her down, telling her of the need to keep her in the dark, a sacrifice made only for her safety. It bridges a gap between her and her brothers in her heart, the stain of bastardry another tie that only brings her closer to them.
Daemon Targaryen trains her the way he has trained Baela and Rhaena, a proud smile growing on his face every time the girl bests one of her brothers. She is impulsive and reckless and headstrong, every bit the Rogue Prince’s daughter where she differed from Ser Laenor. She grows closer and closer with her younger sisters, the three thick as thieves as she finds the kinship she can only find in women with them. They speak of their place in a man’s world, their fears, ambitions and frustrations as much as they speak of myths and fantasies, rarely seen apart.
She learns to braid their hair as they tell her stories of life beyond the Narrow Sea, and she tells them of her days in the Red Keep as they twist her waves into a crown upon her head, teasing her as heir when they do, playing out coronations. “Baela Targaryen, Lady of Dragonstone and Rhaena Targaryen, Lady of Driftmark,” she proclaims grandly when they play upon the cliffs, mock-curtsying as they call her Your Grace the Queen Daella.
Childhood gives way to responsibilities, when those daydreams inch closer and closer to reality. Baela is betrothed to Jace and Rhaena to Luke, her other brothers far too young for any worries beyond simply growing up. She, however, is left unattached. “We have to find you an equal, my sweet,” Daemon tells her affectionately one day as he tugs on his daughter’s braid. “Not someone who wants your power, but someone who cares without. Besides, you are heir after your mother. The man who marries you, marries the Throne.”
In King’s Landing, Aegon and Helaena Targaryen are wedded to each other in a lavish ceremony, the second son reminded over and over that he need not worry about marrying for power, but for love if he so wishes. “The woman who marries you does not marry the Throne, my sweet boy,” Alicent consoles him. “She will want you not truly for power, but without. As long as she befits our station, you must choose with your heart, not with duty.”
Her mother gives Daella training she was never properly given, sitting her through council meetings on Dragonstone and making her practice her High Valyrian until it is muscle memory. Her father takes her on patrols to the Steptones and pushes her to train until her bones ache. She is taught by Rhaenyra to be calm, composed and driven, to maintain grace under pressure. She is taught by Daemon to keep her mind and her blade sharp, to never bow down or back up unless truly needed. She withdraws into herself when it comes to beyond her family, her mind too preoccupied by duty for desire.
Aemond learns at the foot of his mother and by the absence of his father, becoming everything the former wants him to be and everything the latter is not. He learns to respect the Faith and the Seven as he does the Fourteen Flames, to study philosophy, history and war. He learns to fight better than anyone else he has met, under his scars hurt and his knuckles bleed. He doesn’t give a shit about tourneys, pageantry the last thing from his mind as he picks up his sword again and again, until the Valyrian steel slices through training decoys like scissors on silk, just as quick and just as deadly.
Daella and Aemond Targaryen cross paths again a decade later, when her family alights upon King’s Landing to pay a visit to her grandfather the King. She catches his eye in the Throne Room after her father beheads Vaemond Velaryon for leveling insults at their family, her satisfied smile analogous to Aemond’s impressed one. They see each other again at dinner, her focus turned to her own self as the chatter around suffices to fill her own silence. Her mouth twitches in anger as he insults her family, fingers moving to curl upon the hilt of her own sword as he calls them ‘Strong’ over and over again.
And then all hell breaks loose as Aegon smashes her brother’s head into the table, her mother forcing her back into her seat as she prepares to lunge at the drunk prince. Her father diffuses the tension while they are all dismissed to their own rooms, and she seeks Aemond Targaryen out after the affair has ended, her steps hurried and her jaw ticking.
“How dare you,” she hisses in the dark, her words making him turn around as he marches back to her spot, a curious look in his eyes. “Why, my lady,” he says coolly, “I was merely expressing how proud I am of my nephews and my family. Although it seems, they’re not quite as proud of theirs, are they?”
She has to crane up to meet his eye, her shorter frame engulfed by his. “Don’t play coy,” she snaps, only getting a laugh in return. For the first time, Daella Targaryen is truly incensed by a man. “They may be a bastard to you in name, but you are the bastard in acts,” she retorts, the fire in her eyes taking him aback. For the first time, Aemond Targaryen is truly intrigued by a woman.
They do not see each other again until the ringing of the bells, when a theft and a message to Storm's End change the course of history forever.
