Everyone knows Morello's another ending except me. Now I've known.

It's too bad that Hanger13 simplified this mission (and others like Lucas Bertone's sub quests e.g. that Big Dick one), the car fix thing of Sammy, the mission failed scene and ending2. So I uploaded these videos about mission 16 Crème De La Crème.

Articles II of the Articles of Confederation (1777):

"Article II. Each state retains its sovereignty, freedom and independence, and every Power, Jurisdiction and right, which is not by this confederation expressly delegated to the United States, in Congress assembled."

So yeah, from the get-go States were meant to be Sovereign States with all the rights and authority thereof.

However, we had a lot of problems with states printing their own money and other assorted logistics problems so we went back to the drawing board and bound us together a bit tighter.

Now, this next bit is complicated and had gotten a bit fuzzy since I first learned it. I thought states had the right to secceed, but it is more accurate to say they didn't not have that right until the 14th amendment explicitly said they didn't. There were a lot of debates on it pre-civil war and a big part of the debate was that the US States were Hobbsian Soverign States (what my teacher taught me the definition of state was and how it's used in basically every other political state outside the America) that merely had a contract with the Federal Government. So yeah, the timeline of my original comment was (literally) debatabley off.

So no. I was not thinking about the Iroquois (whose government i didn't learn about until about a decade later, still mad about that), as cool as their system was and as many notes we took from them to make ours. I was thinking about my 10th grade government class textbook. (I'm actually reading through a history book from that period now and it doesn't say states lost their soverign status upon the writing of the Constitution in 1787, even though that's probably technically correct. This is probably what lead to the confusion.)

(Sorry if this comes off a bit bitchy. I've been getting tags about it, and I hate arguing in tags. You were actually quite polite and if there had been a possibility that I had confused those two [instead of having my stance for a decade longer than knowing about the Iroquois Confederation] I would have been grumpy but grateful.)

I held back on getting my gender changed in the state of Georgia because it required filing a court case and appearing before a judge to prove that I had transitioned enough to warrant calling myself male on my documents. there was a strong possibility they could deny me because I hadn't undergone any type of surgery (a requirement under Georgia law that is waived only sometimes), despite passing as male 100% of the time.

this morning I went to the Maryland vehicle administration building and they had a touch screen with buttons that said "male" and "female."

I paused and asked the lady "I can choose male, right?" and she looked at me (again, I'm just some guy with a beard) (and I think she misheard me) and she was like "Oh! Do you want to be female now?" I said no, my Georgia license (directly in front of her) says female, they wouldn't let me change it, can I be male now?

she said to just pick whichever I wanted. I got my updated license in 5 minutes.

No, that's not what I said at all, I said there was no movement to leave the Republic before Dooku, there were sentiments of dissatisfaction, but no actual attempts to leave, not until Dooku presented it

And there are no "original separatists" before Dooku, because no one was trying to secceed before Dooku got involved, "separatists" in SW is a specific term referring to a specific movement founded and lead by Dooku

A lot of people really seem to have this idea that the Separatists are a secession movement based upon an honest desire for self determination and independence

But it's more like the south in the US Civil War

It's a rebellion by the elite for the elite so that they may continue their horrific practices, and in both cases they've dressed it up in fancy words to dupe the civilians into believing its all in their interests

Just look at who's really running the separatists and what they want

Dooku: establish a fascist empire

Grievous: conquer and kill, specifically kill Jedi

Corporate leaders: profit, unrestricted capitalism, no taxes

(that last one is specifically what incites the events of tpm, the trade federation is blockading naboo because the republic was enforcing a trade route taxe that they didn't want to pay)

Moreover, these guys above are the ones who are actually fighting the war, hell they are the ones causing the war!

The corruption of the Republic, its ineffectiveness, and the power of the corporations are all things the individuals above caused or actively worsened

Thus that leaves separatist civilians and politicians like mina bonteri woefully naive and taken advantage of at best, or willfully duping themselves at worst, believing that the people causing the problems can somehow solve them
