ā˜† Gideon Strix is a charming and charismatic boy. He is generally quite friendly and compassionate, but will not be forgiving if you hurt his loved ones. He cares deeply for all of his friends and is always glad to lend a hand when needed. He is quite intelligent and cunning and does not shy away from learning and sometimes utilizing the darker sides of magic. He also has a fondness for magical creatures, and especially Nifflers as he finds them quite amusing and cute. He shares a dorm room with Sebastian and Ominis they're dating. Though sometimes it feels like Gideon and Ominis are more like Sebastian's exasperated parents (They adore him). And he is a Halfblood wizard, in which his father who was a wizard passed away when he was quite young and he was raised by his muggle mother. If anyone is brave enough to pick on him for this, it doesn't last long. ā˜†

A Long Time Coming
Sebastian Sallow x Reader
Summary: aka three times Sebastian is a flirt, one time he gets called out on it, and one time he finally does something about it.
Rating: Teen & up (very light suggestive moment but nothing extreme)
Word count: 5.4k
Read on AO3 or below the cut <3
I.
The Library is almost silent - unusually quiet for a Wednesday afternoon. Only the subtle sound of a ticking clock, and the occasional turn of a page breaks through the quiet. Somewhere amongst the bookshelves, Madam Scribner is ensuring the books are in the correct places, and a couple of first years had run off, upstairs undoubtedly, in an attempt to find a book that doesnā€™t exist, tricked by second years into believing it does.
In the centre of the room, seated at a wooden bench, heads buried in their homework, were the Slytherin trio, who these days seemed to never leave each others sides.
Sheā€™s focused on writing what seems to be a remarkably boring essay for Potions, hair tucked behind her ears as she scribbles away, quill rough against the parchment, cursive writing adorning the tanned sheet.
Ominis is tracing the shapes of words in his book with his finger, frowning every so often when he comes across something so ridiculous that he wonders if throwing it across the room would help him understand it more.
And Sebastian is - well, Sebastian has decidedly given up, doodling various patterns into the margins of his Herbology book. Only when his quill runs out of ink does he groan, rather too loudly, dropping his head onto the page in frustration.
ā€œIā€™m bored,ā€ he informs his friends, and Ominis immediately shushes him. ā€œSorry, but this is so boring!ā€
ā€œI donā€™t care if you are bored,ā€ Ominis almost hisses, his milky eyes searching in Sebastianā€™s direction, finger never once leaving the page of his book. ā€œWe are busy. Iā€™m sure thereā€™s something for you to do elsewhere.ā€
Sebastian has been used to Ominisā€™, what he would call ā€˜soft rageā€™ for a long time (he often gets angry at varying things, but heā€™d never do anything physical about it), but he still flinches a little, lifting his head from the book, before turning his focus to the girl next to him.
Sheā€™s still writing, evidently not as bothered by Sebastian as Ominis is. He watches her for a minute or so, marvelling at how quickly she glides the quill across the paper, brows furrowed in concentration.
ā€œI can feel your eyes burning a hole into my skin, Sebastian,ā€ she whispers, momentarily glancing at him, before continuing to write.
He smiles, still watching, as she finally comes to the end of the page, and, thankfully, the end of her essay.
She places the quill down, quickly scanning over the parchment for any mistakes, before pushing it to the side to dry. She lets out a long, deep breath, stretching her neck from side to side, and flexes her hands, shaking out the stress and the aches from the day.
Sheā€™s got small hands, Sebastian thinks, even Anneā€™s hands are bigger than hers.
ā€œMy hands arenā€™t small,ā€ she frowns at him - Ominis shoots them an angered look - and Sebastian realises his thoughts were not contained in his head, but actually said out loud. Heā€™d blame it on his tiredness from studying, but he hadnā€™t really been studying. He was just an idiot.
ā€œWell,ā€ he straightens his back, coughing a little in an attempt to cover up for the light blush covering his freckled cheeks. ā€œI just meanā€¦no, you do have small hands.ā€
She scoffs. ā€œTheyā€™re not small. They canā€™t be that much smaller than yours or Ominisā€™.ā€
ā€œOminisā€™ hands are freakishly large,ā€ Sebastian retorts. It is not entirely true - Ominisā€™ fingers are long and slender, making them seem a lot bigger than they are, but theyā€™re not freakish. Just a tad strange.
Ominis rolls his eyes, then uses one of those hands to cover an ear so he can continue to read.
ā€œThen they are not much smaller than yours.ā€
Sebastian raises an eyebrow, then a hand, palm pointing towards her. ā€œLook. My hands are big,ā€ he says, proudly. ā€œCompare yours to mine.ā€
She lifts her hand, pressing her palm against his in a quick motion, fingers splaying to rest against his. He can feel the pink on his cheeks spreading further and deepening in colour, so he coughs again.
ā€œOh,ā€ she laughs. Itā€™s rather obvious - the size difference. Sebastianā€™s hands are bigger. Not hugely - not in a weird way like Ominisā€™! - but definitely. He could cover her hand with his, easily. Her fingers could interlock with his, rather comfortably.
ā€œI told you, did I not?ā€ Sebastian smiles. Heā€™s glad he was right, and takes joy in proving her wrong - possibly for the first time.
ā€œYou did,ā€ she sighs, dropping her hand from his. ā€œYou are correct, Sebastian Sallow. For once.ā€
Heā€™s grinning, oh so proud, and she laughs at him, shaking her head. ā€œLet me just,ā€ he says, grabbing her wrist and pressing her hand against his again, confirming what they already knew. Heā€™d never deny he was a gloater. ā€œYou see this, Ominis?ā€
Across the table, Ominis is glaring, fires almost burning through the white snow of his eyes.
ā€œNo, of course I donā€™t see.ā€ Ominis responds, and this time, the entirety of Sebastianā€™s face turns bright red.
II.
Sebastian has been watching the door all evening. First, it was the Undercroft gate, then the Slytherin common room door, and now the Great Hall. None of the doors had opened, to reveal the girl he was waiting to see.
Damned doors, and their constant closure.
Sheā€™d been gone all day, from the very moment the sun had started to rise, til now, as it was setting. She was undoubtedly doing some good deed for someone sheā€™d never met before, in a hamlet sheā€™d never been to casting spells sheā€™d hardly practised.
Curse her, and her kindness.
Sebastian had had the brilliant idea to save her a portion of the roast dinner theyā€™d been served, but it was getting cold now, and he was getting increasingly worried as the minutes went by. Had she been eaten by an Acromantula? Kidnapped by poachers? Mauled by a pack of dark mongrels?
ā€œI can feel your worry from over here,ā€ Ominis says. Heā€™s sitting across from Sebastian, putting his last pieces of potato into his mouth. ā€œItā€™s souring my supper.ā€
ā€œSorry,ā€ Sebastian responds. Heā€™s not really sorry, but he prefers to sate Ominisā€™ frustration. ā€œSheā€™s been gone since this morning. Sheā€™s usually not gone for more than a few hours at a time.ā€
ā€œBut she is often gone for a long time,ā€ Ominis places his knife and fork, parallel in the centre of his plate, before picking his napkin up to wipe his mouth. ā€œShe is the hero of Hogwarts, after all. And a rather busy hero at that.ā€
Almost as if to cut them off, the dirty plates and empty trays of food suddenly disappear, and then reappear, replaced by dishes of apple pie, sticky toffee pudding and custard. Most of the students hurriedly scramble for their dessert - itā€™s always the most popular part of the meal.
Sebastian quickly reaches for a portion of the sticky toffee pudding, which is snatched away by Imelda with a sneer. He shoots her daggers, before quickly grabbing another portion, this time successfully. He tries to grab another - to set it aside for his friend when she finally gets back - but it is taken by a third year, before he could even start to reach.
With a wave of his wand, Ominis manages to grab himself a portion of pie, before every plate of dessert has been spoken for.
Sebastian huffs, realising she now only has a cold plate of roast dinner to come back to.
If she ever does.
He returns to the previous conversation, a frown on his face.
ā€œNo, sheā€¦she shouldā€™ve been back by now, she should be-ā€œ
It is, at that moment, ironically, that the large doors to the Great Hall open, and she walks through them, perfectly alive. A little windswept, to be sure, a slight rip at the bottom of her skirt, and a tiny cut on her lower lip. But alive.
Sebastian stands up. She spots him in the crowd of people, and immediately smiles, running over to squeeze herself into the spot on the bench next to him.
He can feel his heart go from aching, to relief, to almost beating out of his chest within seconds.
ā€œWhat a day!ā€ She laughs, sighing as she sits down, Sebastian soon following her. Thereā€™s a small smile pulling at Ominisā€™ lips, and Sebastian allows himself to smile too.
ā€œSebastian was rather worried about you,ā€ Ominis says, and in that moment, Sebastian wonders, if he leapt across the table, would his hands accurately find Ominisā€™ neck so he could choke him?
ā€œOnly Sebastian?ā€ She asks, and Ominis, this time, smiles a little wider, a slight glint of white teeth showing past his lips
ā€œI was worried too, I am not afraid to admit. But he wouldnā€™t stop worrying aloud,ā€ Ominis brings a spoon of his pie to his mouth. ā€œIt was rather irritating.ā€
ā€œOh,ā€ she laughs, side-eyeing Sebastian, who blushes (annoyingly, heā€™s been blushing far too much lately). He nudges her, in a ā€˜please-redirect-your-attention-away-from-my-red-faceā€™ kind of way, pointing her to the dinner heā€™d saved her.
ā€œItā€™s a bit cold butā€¦ā€
ā€œOh marvellous!ā€ She grins, pulling the plate toward her and grabbing a fork, which she stabs into a piece of carrot. ā€œIā€™ve not eaten all day!ā€
In the least weird way he can possibly muster (which is still extremely weird, he must admit), he watches her eat, enjoying that she is enjoying her food, glad she is safe and sound. He sighs, softly, allowing himself to relax before taking his spoon and slowly starting to eat his dessert.
Once she finishes her food (which doesnā€™t take her all that long to eat, clearly hungry from an exhausting day, she takes a long drink of the glass of lemonade that had poured itself for her, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand.
She takes a moment to breathe, pushing a piece of hair out of her face. Sebastian sees her look around a little, at the other students still picking away at their puddings.
ā€œI did try to save you a portion,ā€ Sebastian says, and she looks at him, shaking her head.
ā€œItā€™s alright. I was very late. And some people,ā€ she glares across the room at Leander, who has two plates of desserts in front of him, alternating bites between the two. ā€œAlways take too much.ā€
But he can see it in her face. Sheā€™s a little disappointed. Itā€™s only a silly thing; a dessert, for Merlinā€™s sake, but he feels guilty.
So he drops his spoon, and slides the rest of his pudding to her. ā€œHere. Have mine.ā€
She rolls her eyes at him, and pushes it back. ā€œHonestly, youā€™ve done enough, Sebastian. I couldā€™ve not eaten at all.ā€
He pushes it back to her. ā€œPlease.ā€
Again, she slides it. ā€œNo.ā€
ā€œIā€™m not arguing,ā€ Sebastian again pushes the bowl, and holds it there, picking the spoon up and offering it to her. ā€œJust have it. Itā€™ll make me happy.ā€
ā€œSebastian-ā€œ
ā€œMerlinā€™s beard,ā€ Ominis mutters. ā€œJust eat the damned pudding, would you? Or I think he might explode.ā€
She laughs. Sebastian laughs. Ominis glares. Just the way it should be.
Thank the Gods sheā€™s fine.
III.
The weekend Sebastian had spent in Feldcroft was lovely. Perfect, even. Spending time with Anne was rare these days, so to be with her, uninterrupted for forty-eight straight hours was joyous. He really did miss her.
Yet, returning to Hogwarts didnā€™t make him feel sad. He actually felt excited, for the first time in a long time, to get back. He couldnā€™t quite put his finger on why, but he just knew, as he entered the school grounds, that the butterflies in his stomach werenā€™t just for his return to Transfiguration class.
As he walked the school, he realised heā€™d missed supper, it seemed, from the hordes of students gathered throughout the corridors near the Great Hall.
Sebastian desperately tried to find a familiar face (or at least one he wanted to see - Leander and Gareth were easily seen with their red heads, but he didnā€™t fancy talking to Idiot One or Idiot Two).
It took a little while of searching, before he found a group gathered in a more secluded area. He noted Natsai, Poppy, Amit, Ominis, and her.
Sebastian grinned. He hadnā€™t noticed the smile creeping onto his face at all really. He simply let his feet do the walking, striding over to his friends, and without warning, snaking his arms around her waist and pulling her into a bear hug from behind.
ā€œOh!ā€ She jumped, but laughed almost immediately, as if she knew it was him just from his touch.
Surely not.
ā€œHi,ā€ Sebastian smiles, pulling her close to him, resting his chin in the dip of her shoulder, and looking at the group in front of him. ā€œHi guys.ā€
For a moment, they all look stunned. Weird, Sebastian thinks, perhaps they didnā€™t expect me back so soon
ā€œHello Sebastian,ā€ Natty is the first to speak, breaking what was starting to feel like an awkward silence. ā€œWe had just been speaking about you.ā€
ā€œOh?ā€ Sebastian raises an eyebrow, glancing between each persons face, all looking a different level of uncomfortable
ā€œWe were just discussing how we think you should-ā€œ Poppy starts to say.
ā€œWe,ā€ she chimes in, her hands tugging at Sebastianā€™s arm, pulling him off of her. Heā€™d be offended, but she quickly redirects him, pulling his arm around her shoulders, and tucking him into her side. He feels her arm wrap around his waist, and decides this is possibly better. ā€œWeā€™re thinking you should spend more weekends in Feldcroft.ā€
ā€œAh, dying to get rid of me?ā€
ā€œAlways,ā€ she smiles. Sebastian has a hard time tearing his eyes away, wondering how she often looks like sheā€™s glowing. Like sun is emanating from her very soul. Itā€™s addictive.
ā€œWe should probably return to our common rooms and rest for a bright and early start in the morning!ā€ Amit chimes in, and Natty and Poppy nod, agreeing.
ā€œAlright,ā€ Sebastian shrugs. He notices Natty tilt her head a little, and before he knows it, his arm is being pushed away, and his side is left cold and empty.
ā€œWeā€™re just trying to work out a charm,ā€ she says, stepping over to Natty. ā€œIā€™ll see you two in the common room a little later?ā€ She gestures to Sebastian and Ominis.
ā€œOf course,ā€ Ominis finally speaks up. The group disperses, and Sebastian finds himself having to jog to catch up to Ominis, who seems like a man on a mission to get to bed.
ā€œWait!ā€ Sebastian finds himself laughing as he finally catches up to his best friend. Ominis huffs, which causes Sebastian to reach out, grabbing his arm and stopping him mid stride. ā€œIs something wrong?ā€
ā€œWith me? Oh, no. But I do believe something is wrong with you, Sebastian,ā€ Ominis shakes his head. His brows are furrowed, almost angry, yet he seems more frustrated than anything. ā€œIt is almost aggravating. I cannot understand how you are yet to see the issue at hand.ā€
Heā€™s speaking in riddles, Sebastian is sure of it. The blond was always one to be mysterious, but this is taking it to whole other level.
Sebastian doesnā€™t respond, which, in itself, is clearly a response enough for Ominis, who turns on his heel, and with a small flick of his wand, is on his way, leaving Sebastian standing in the hallway to ponder whatever in Merlinā€™s name is going on
IV.
ā€œSebastian!ā€
His head whips around, trying to see who or what called his name, but thereā€™s a few too many people outside the Bell Tower to actually see. He stands on the tips of his toes, before he finally sees the culprit - Poppy, who is heading towards him, determination on her face andā€¦a Slytherin scarf in hand?
He frowns - his scarf is definitely back in the dorm, and itā€™s rare for Ominis to wear his anyway, soā€¦
ā€œCould you-ā€œ Poppy starts.
ā€œIs that-ā€œ Sebastian questions.
ā€œShe left it in Beasts class earlier,ā€ Poppy confirms. Sheā€™s come to a stop in front of Sebastian, and hands him the scarf, which he takes, gladly. ā€œCould you return it to her? Iā€™m afraid sheā€™ll get cold without it.ā€
ā€œNo problem,ā€ Sebastian nods, and Poppy smiles. She thanks him quickly, before scurrying off. Poppy was weird, always had been, really, but Sebastian guessed they were friends by association, so tried not to judge too much.
Heā€™s left, standing there, holding a scarf. Her scarf. Itā€™s strange, but for a moment he doesnā€™t know what to do. Itā€™s like his legs wonā€™t move, too focused on this object in his left hand.
He canā€™t quite understand why.
But luckily he shakes it off, and starts to head for the Slytherin common room. Poppy was right, she might get cold without her scarf. Sheā€™s got more, yes, butā€¦well, she probably preferred this one. Itā€™s certainly keeping his hand warm, so it probably good at keeping her warm, andā€¦
It feels like heā€™s been walking for hours. Heā€™s got a death grip on the scarf, like he couldnā€™t it bear the thought of dropping it. Losing it. Damaging it. He could buy her a new one if he did. But it wouldnā€™t be the same, would it? It wouldnā€™t be hers, it wouldnā€™t have her name written in ink on the inside, it wouldnā€™t smell like herā€¦
Before he even knows it, heā€™s standing in his dorm room, back pressed against the door, keeping it closed. The room is empty, thank the Gods, because heā€™s still holding the scarf. He can see his, dangling over the end of his bed, and it might seem weird if he had two.
His breathlessness and warm face and open mouth might also be weird.
He steps away from the door, certain itā€™s closed, then moved toward his bed, where he sits down at the edge, eyes desperately trying to avoid the scarf, but he just canā€™t do it. He wets his lips, nervous, double, triple checking the room, ensuring no one is there once again.
And, finally, he lifts the scarf to his nose, and inhales deeply.
It smells just like her. Of course it does, itā€™s hers, but itā€™s unmistakably so. The scent of lavender and honey, probably from the soap she uses. A little of mallowsweet, and fresh air. Itā€™s intoxicating, and he canā€™t bring himself to put it down. Even if he suffocates in the wool, it would be a wonderful way to die.
Thereā€™s a feeling, that starts in his stomach, that heā€™s trying so hard to ignore, but itā€™s getting lower and lower, and his head is spinning. He inhales again, and his eyes roll back a little. His breath hitches in his throat, and he canā€™t stop himself, he moves his right hand, over the side of his thigh, straight towards-
ā€œWhat are you doing?ā€
Sebastianā€™s head whips round to the door, where Ominis is standing, deadly still, wand in hand, staring straight at him. Surely not? He surely canā€™t see, can he? No, what a ridiculous notion. He canā€™t see what Sebastian is doing.
Hopefully he canā€™t see what Sebastian is doing.
He realises heā€™s said nothing for an awfully long time, and stutters over his words as he tries to get a coherent sentence out.
ā€œI-I, uh, was just,ā€ he glances around himself, trying to find another object - anything but the scarf - to use as a distraction. His eyes settle on a spell book, heā€™d left next to his bed. He drops the scarf onto the bed next to him, and quickly reaches for the book. ā€œI w-was reading! Homework, you know.ā€
ā€œNo,ā€ Ominis flicks his wand, ever so slightly, the tip glowing read, as he steps over to Sebastian. ā€œI heard you. You wereā€¦smelling something. In a veryā€¦odd fashion.ā€
ā€œN-no,ā€ Sebastian counters. ā€œIā€¦wasnā€™t.ā€
Great, thatā€™ll show him!
Ominis scoffs. ā€œWhat were you-ā€œ he waves his wand again, and the scarf suddenly levitates, floating through the air and landing in Ominisā€™ hand. Damn him, and his stupidly intelligent wand. ā€œIs this-ā€œ
ā€œOminis-ā€œ
ā€œItā€™s her scarf. Was this what you were smelling? It must be.ā€
Sebastian shuts his mouth. The two of them are quiet for a moment. Ominis just standing there, and Sebastian sitting, feeling increasingly guilty.
ā€œDonā€™t tell her.ā€
Ominis frowns a little. ā€œTell her what?ā€
ā€œThat I wasā€¦doing that.ā€
ā€œI will not tell her,ā€ Ominis says. Sebastian feels relief for a moment, but then Ominis speaks again. ā€œYou will.ā€
ā€œWhat?ā€ Sebastian squeaks. His voice has never been that high-pitched before. Heā€™d be embarrassed if he wasnā€™t in this situation.
ā€œAre you a fool, Sebastian Sallow?ā€ This time, Sebastian is the one to frown. That wasnā€™t what he was expecting Ominis to say. Admittedly, he was expecting some extortion, maybe a promise of some kind, but not an insult. ā€œYou must be the only wizard alive unaware of your feelings for her.ā€
Heā€™s suddenly taken aback. He tries to form words, but quickly gives up. His mind is racing, trying to comprehend what Ominis had just said to him.
Because, Merlinā€™s beard, was he right?
Surely not. She was his best friend. They had fun, broke rules together. They spent hours at Hogsmeade together. They studied together. They visited Anne together. Theyā€¦they did everything together. Because he couldnā€™t bear not doing things together.
And of the times she wasnā€™t there, he just thought about her, wishing she was there. He hadnā€™t had a class with her since that morning, and all day heā€™d thought about getting back to the common room and seeing her.
Then there was the butterflies he got when he saw her. How beautiful he thought she was. How heā€™d often find an excuse to touch her. How heā€™d look for her in crowds. How he just never stopped thinking about her, becauseā€¦
Because he had feelings for her.
ā€œMerlin,ā€ Sebastian mutters, the realisation hitting him like a tonne of bricks. Itā€™s all he can say, because how had he not seen it sooner? It was glaringly obvious, and if Ominis was correct, was he the only one who hadnā€™t realised?
ā€œItā€™s taken you far too long to realise,ā€ Ominis sits down on the bed, a few inches from Sebastian, placing the scarf in between them. ā€œWeā€™ve been talking about this for weeks.ā€
ā€œYouā€™ve been talking about me?ā€
ā€œWeā€™ve been talking about how painfully clear your feelings are, and how idiotic that you have not said or done anything about it sooner.ā€
ā€œWho is ā€˜weā€™?ā€
Ominis pauses, contemplating whether he should say or not. But everything is out in the open, so why not?
ā€œThe usual suspects. Myself, Poppy, Amit, Natsai,ā€ Sebastian nods, and starts to speak, but Ominis continues. ā€œGareth, Leander, Imelda, I believe Everett knows as well. Possibly some others.ā€
ā€œGods,ā€ Sebastian sighs. Heā€™s half tempted to laugh, but heā€™s still too shocked. ā€œDoes she know?ā€
Ominis blinks. He squeezes his lips together in thought, and then nods his head. ā€œShe took some convincing - couldnā€™t quite believe youā€™d ever feel that way for her, and Iā€™m still half-convinced she isnā€™t entirely sure.ā€
ā€œAnd does she-ā€œ
ā€œShe has feelings for you too. Of course she does. Donā€™t continue to be foolish, Sebastian. Would she let you carry on the way you do, if she didnā€™t? I certainly wouldnā€™t.ā€
Sebastian laughs - a sudden, chesty laugh at the sheer ridiculousness of it all, which in turn makes Ominis laugh - a rare sight.
ā€œAm I truly that oblivious?ā€ Sebastian asks through his laughter. ā€œI mean, Iā€™ve never felt like this before, so I just assumed it would be clear when I liked someone.ā€
ā€œNot everything is clear,ā€ Ominis reassures him, then, ā€œBut you are simply an idiot.ā€
The two of them laugh again. Sebastian looks at the scarf next to him, before sighing loudly.
ā€œIā€™m going to have to tell her, arenā€™t I?ā€
Thereā€™s a gentle touch on his shoulder. Ominis nods (heā€™s not one for touching others, but he clearly feels Sebastian needs reassuring). ā€œAnd sooner rather than later, hm? Weā€™re all dying to see the two of you together.ā€
V.
Heā€™s been avoiding her, like she was the Black Death, and he curses himself for doing so. Heā€™d managed to return her scarf (thankfully, because he was certain heā€™d do something heā€™d regret if he didnā€™t), but for the rest of the week that was it. Heā€™d eaten early, returned to his dorm early, pretended to be engrossed in conversations during classes and very busy after them.
It wasnā€™t that he didnā€™t want to see her. Quite the opposite, in fact, but he was still trying to wrap his head around the whole thing, and come up with a beautiful string of words that would explain how madly in love with her he was, and why exactly she should be with him.
And it was proving to be a lot more difficult than expected.
Ominis, may the Gods bless him, had agreed to keep their conversation a secret - at least for the time being. Sebastian was sure that the others had noticed that something was up, though, as they seemed much more concerned about him than they usually did. But he didnā€™t allow himself to be perceived by them for too long. He would dodge conversation, and keep to himself. Every waking moment seemed to be consumed by thinking of how exactly he would confess.
Ominis had said she felt the same, but was he sure? Heā€™d said he was sure, yes, but was he truly sure? Sebastian was not sure, about any of it. He also wasnā€™t sure that sure was a real word anymore
The following Friday, heā€™d been invited to Hogsmeade for Butterbeers, but made a big fuss of how much homework he had to do. It was true, he did have a lot of homework, but his mind was not on that now.
Instead, taking advantage of a mostly empty common room, as most students had headed out for the evening, he sat himself in front of the fireplace, legs stretched outward, arms crossed against his chest. It would be the perfect opportunity to just think. Staring into the fire, he hoped an answer would appear. And he stared, for a long time, trying to decipher something in the flames.
ā€œSebastian?ā€
He almost jumps out of his skin, scrambling a little to sit up straighter. Because there she is, standing beside him, a gentle smile on her face.
ā€œHi,ā€ he looks up at her. She looks extra pretty this evening, he thinks. Hair pulled back with just a few pieces framing her face, a gorgeous, flowing teal dress framing her figure perfectly. ā€œI thought everyone was heading to Hogsmeade?ā€
ā€œWe were,ā€ she says. She sounds sad, as she sits down on the armchair next to him. ā€œBut then Ominis said you werenā€™t coming, so I came back.ā€
Thereā€™s a flutter in his stomach, and a little voice in his head, that says see, she does like you.
But he canā€™t let her spoil her fun, and most definitely not for him
ā€œGo,ā€ he tilts his head towards the stairs. ā€œIā€™m sure you can catch up with them. Iā€™m quite alright on my own.ā€
He watches her glance over to the stairs, and ponder for a moment, before she shakes her head. ā€œYouā€™ve hardly spoken to anyone all week. Iā€™d rather know youā€™re well and not moping about alone.ā€
ā€œNot moping,ā€ he chuckles. ā€œJustā€¦been thinking.ā€
She studies him for a second, then places her elbow on the arm of the chair, and rests her chin in her hand. ā€œA knut for your thoughts?ā€
Sebastian turns his attention back to the fire. It eats away at the logs, just like his thoughts had been eating away at him. Ominisā€™ words ring in his ears: She has feelings for you too. Of course she does.
He tries to form some words. But they still evade him. Still run from his tongue and his mind, teasing him with the very possibility of being with her, yet being unable to, due to the annoying fact that he just cannot speak.
Her voice is almost a whisper, but he can see the way her face crumples a little. ā€œHave I done something to upset you?ā€
ā€œHey, no,ā€ he says. ā€œIā€™ve just beenā€¦in my own head, thatā€™s all. Youā€™ve done nothing wrong.ā€
She nods, but looks like she doesnā€™t quite believe him. She joins him in looking at the fire, and they sit in silence for a few moments.
He steals a glance at her, and she looks like she wants to speak, but sheā€™s holding back. Their silences are not often awkward, but thereā€™s a tension in the air, and he wants to cure it, somehow.
Itā€™s only when he decides he must say something, that she clears her throat, and stands up from her chair.
ā€œIā€™ll let you get back to your thoughts,ā€ she smiles ever-so-slightly at him. Itā€™s half-hearted and almost makes him wince. ā€œGood night, Sebastian.ā€
Heā€™ll see her in the morning. Sheā€™ll go to bed, as will he, and heā€™ll see her over breakfast, or catch her in the hallway.
Heā€™ll see her, so why do his feet carry him, following her, as if he wonā€™t?
ā€œWait,ā€ he says, only a step behind her. Theyā€™ve stopped in the middle of the common room, looking each other, her body in an awkward half-turn, from where sheā€™d been leaving. ā€œI think I should probably tell you my thoughts.ā€
She frowns. ā€œYou should?ā€
ā€œYes,ā€ he confirms. ā€œItā€™s been plaguing me all week. And Iā€™ve been putting it off but-ā€œ a deep breath. ā€œI should probably get it off my chest.ā€
She looks beautiful in the shimmering moonlight and rippling waves of the common room. He traces her with his eyes, taking her in. If he hadnā€™t been certain about how he felt up, he most definitely was now.
But he had been certain. It had just taken a while for him to see it.
ā€œLook, I,ā€ he starts, eyes dropping to the floor. This time, without realising, he lets his heart do the talking. He doesnā€™t hope his brain will find the words, instead he lets all of his heart and soul spill from his mouth. ā€œI havenā€™t told you the truth. Mostly because I didnā€™t know the truth, until quite recently, and it seems everyone but I knew. But now that I do know, and Iā€™m entirely sure it is the truthā€¦ā€
Sheā€™s frowning. So is he, a little. Heā€™s not really making sense, so he tries again.
ā€œAll my life, I assumed love - I mean, having feelings for someone - would be obvious, glaring, and heart wrenching. I never realised it could be subtle, or slow, or easy. I also was never sure Iā€™d actually find it. I thought Iā€™d be waiting my whole life, if ever, to find it. Itā€™s why I didnā€™t realise, for a long time, until now, thatā€¦I have feelings,ā€ he pauses, then clarifies. ā€œFor you, I mean.ā€
She looks shocked. Her eyes wide, mouth open, trying to search him for some kind of proof heā€™s just jesting. Just toying with her emotions.
But heā€™s not. Heā€™s not one to cry, but his eyes well a little. He wants to step forward, to envelop her into a hug, to hold her in his arms, finally, in the way heā€™s always wanted.
ā€œAre you,ā€ she eventually speaks. ā€œAre you quite serious?ā€
He canā€™t help but laugh. Her brows knit together, concerned at his joking manner.
ā€œMore than serious,ā€ he confirms. ā€œDeadly.ā€
She gasps, very softly. It is her that steps forward, closing the large gap between them. Only a few inches apart. So close he could reach for her, if he wanted.
So he does.
He reaches for her hand - which are just the right size for his, as heā€™d previously confirmed - and brings it closer to him, squeezing it gently.
ā€œSebastian,ā€ her bottom lip quivers. ā€œI also,ā€ she pauses, to find her words. ā€œFeelā€¦feelings. For you.ā€
Their eyes lock. He doesnā€™t think heā€™s seen eyes as pretty as hers. Merlin, he doesnā€™t think heā€™s seen anyone as pretty as her. And here she is, standing in front of him, hand in his and heart open, ready for him to take care of it.
Itā€™s almost silent, aside from the crackle of the fire and the patter of their hearts.
Sebastian does not think he can take this longing for one more second, so does what he has always wanted to.
He kisses her, and in that moment, finds all he has ever wanted.

wreathe ; sebastian sallow
words count: long read
fem reader! x Sebastian Sallow
warning: jealous Sebastian
summary: Sebastian looks like her bestfriend under the sunlight, but as soon as the night comes the lines get blurry and everyone's obvious to it.
part one, I guess?
English is not my first language, trying my best, enjoy :)
Tumblr media
Sebastian was known for being a charmer and a good learner; people whispered about his ability in dueling and his look was praised by many.Ā
He had a habit of breaking the rules and he was stubborn, as much as it was allowed.Ā
What most people didnā€™t know about him though was that the boy had in fact scares so deep, every once in a while they started to bleed.Ā
And god was Sebastian Sallow hot headed.Ā
"Ominis!" You couldnā€™t help but wrap your arms around the boyā€™s neck as soon as you saw him.Ā
"I missed you" you whispered into the boyā€™s chest, his arms slowly holding you closer.Ā
"Well well, isnā€™t this our very own savior" the boy muttered smiling.Ā
After everything that had happened the year prior, Ominis had been a constant in your life; exchanging letters almost every day over summer, the two of you had met up to hang out a few times too.Ā
He used to tell you about his family issues while you confessed yours.Ā
Your bond became so strong you felt he was the brother you never had.Ā
"Y/n!" You turned your head just in time to see Anne sprint your way and wrap her arms around your torso.Ā
"Anne" you smiled, embracing her, "itā€™s good to see you".Ā
She looked good, you couldnā€™t help but notice, her cheeks were pink, and she seemed to have gained a few pounds too; she was surely looking much better than the last time you had saw her.Ā
"I canā€™t tell you how excited I am to be back, even if I have a load of work to catch up to", a breath and then a whisper: "uncle Solomon wonā€™t admit it but heā€™s happy he is finally alone".Ā
Anne left your side then to crush into Ominis.Ā
Thatā€™s when your eyes had met his.Ā
"No hugs for me?" The boy had asked, with that same playful tone youā€™ve grown to love.Ā
If possible, your smile grew bigger.
"Sebastian" you mumbled, letting the brunette cage you in a hug.Ā
Sebastian had always been your light in your time at Hogwarts: with all the fights, the heartbreak and the laughters he had somehow guided you through your first year in the magical world.Ā
Sticking by his side at first felt natural, like you two were somehow tied together; that was, until you grew attached and your new best friend felt more like a man to you.Ā
Everyone knew: you, Sebastian and Ominis were a solid trio, when you were looking for one you always found the other two nearby.Ā
But this year, with the newfound health of Anne since the death of Lockwood, your trio was about to become a quartet and you were somehow excited.Ā
"How have you been?" You whispered in Sebastianā€™s ear, his nose brushing against your hair as he muttered back: "Good, kinda missed you".Ā
"Come on guys! Weā€™re gonna be late!" Anne was excitedly pushing you towards the great hall before you could protest.Ā
Back in your seats, with Sebastianā€™s shoulder brushing against yours, you realized how affected you actually were by his presence.Ā
This year was going to be a long oneā€¦Ā
The morning after, you woke up to an excited Anne walking around the room putting on her robes as she was chased by Imeldaā€™s harsh insults.Ā
"Please shut up" the brunette pleaded as the Sallow girl kept on rumbling how exciting this whole journey was going to be.Ā
"Itā€™s first day, can you guys believe it?" She squitted, disappearing into the Common room, leaving you two behind.Ā
"I swear if she doesnā€™t calm down".
When you saw the girl again you couldnā€™t help but notice her bright eyes as she was laughing with Ominis at the Breakfast table.Ā
"Goodmorning" you spoke, approaching your friends, sliding swiftly beside Sebastian.Ā
"Good morning to you" the boy spoke, gently brushing your shoulder once you were seated.Ā
"What were you guys talking about?"Ā
"Ah! They were vexing me" Sebastian spoke "it is fortunate you came to rescue me".Ā
"Oh Sallow, how many times will I have to save your ass?"Ā
Anne chuckled out loud as Sebastian let out a scoff "nevermind, youā€™re even worse than them"Ā
Before heading to your first lesson of the day, Charms, you passed by the Gryffindor table, hoping to see the friends you still havenā€™t had the opportunity to meet.Ā
"Natty!"Ā
The girl turned around with a smile, "y/n! How have you been? Did you receive my owl?"Ā
"I very much did, thank your granny for those cookies, they were amazing".Ā
"Which cookies? And why didnā€™t I get any?" Garrethā€™s voice rose from beside natty as you aknolowged the boy.Ā
His red hair were longer and his shoulders broader, it was hard to tell since he was seated, but you could definetly say he had grown up.Ā
"Shut up, Garreth" Natty had dismissed the boy as you left the table.Ā
Ominis was waiting for you at the entrance as you both left to class.Ā
That night, seated by the fire in your common room, you were reading a book while Anne was making small conversation with Imelda.Ā
You didnā€™t know how the conversation led to it, but Grrethā€™s name was brought up, Imelda noticing how much the ginger had grown over summer, pointing out he would have made a fine beater.Ā
"You were talking to him this morning, werenā€™t you y/n?"Ā
Your attention was suddenly brought back to the present.Ā
"Yes", "could there be something tender?" Imelda smirked as your nose left the pages to focus on the conversation.Ā
"Obviously not" you had replied, to which Anne softly smiled, "Imelda, quiet down, people are gonna hear us".Ā
"Youā€™re no fun" she had replied, changing topic.Ā
That night, as you lied in bed, you kept on asking yourself if in fact you were somehow charmed by Weasley, or any boy for that matter and the answer came like a whisper, so soft you couldnā€™t hear it either.Ā
"Who do you think is gonna make team this year?" Anne had asked, walking with you, Omins and Sebastian to Hogsmade.Ā
"Why do you suddenly care about Quidditch?" Sebastian had asked.Ā
"I havenā€™t seen a game in ages!" She replied stern.
The bickering between twins bringing a smile to your face as you locked your arm with Ominis, "hey you".
While the twins bickering fell into the background, Ominis turned to you "what about this thing with Weasley?"Ā
"Ominis!" You scolded suddenly, taken aback by his comment, "how do you know?"Ā
Ominis scrolled his shoulders "so it is true? You fancy him?"Ā
"Who fancies whom?" Sebastian had token a step forward, suddenly intrigued by your discussion with Omins as you held the blond boyā€™s arm tighter, that was enough of an answer for him.Ā
"Oh nobody, just stupid chatters" the boy dismissed before Sebastian could investigate further.Ā
The thought of you fancying someone hunted the boy for the rest of the day, even when the night had quieted the chatter down and everyone went to sleep.Ā
He couldnā€™t stop thinking about it, so he left the warmth of his bedsheets, putting on a green and silver jumper and disappearing into the corridors.Ā
Making his way to the common room Sebastian was surprised to see someone else there.Ā
Their head was stuck in a book and their legs curled up onto the couch.Ā
He had recognized right away the silhouette and he felt like smiling.Ā
You had escaped your room that night, determined to finish the book you had been reading.Ā
It didnā€™t startle you when you felt a weight pop beside you on the couch, instead you couldnā€™t help but smile when Sebastian lowered the book from your hands, meeting your gaze.Ā
"Come back to me, will you?" He had whispered chuckling.Ā
"I was just about to find out where the main character had disappeared to" you answered, your smile betraying your fake annoyance.Ā
Sebastian chuckled again, his gaze shifting towards the fire.Ā
"Couldnā€™t sleep?" You asked then, your gaze worried.Ā
The boy hummed.Ā
This scene had happened so many times already: the boy sadly confessing the pain of his sisterā€™s illness to you, in the dark of the common room, only allowing himself to be vulnerable in your presence.Ā
But this time, this time his sister was better, sleeping peacefully upstairs and you were there, with your eyes sleepy and your skin warm.Ā
So Sebastian found himself smiling as he looked your way.Ā
Your arm was resting on the back of the couch as it held your heavy head up, you were facing him, your breathing softly pleasant.Ā
"Do you really fancy someone?" The boy found himself ask, suddenly.Ā
You chuckled, looking at him playfully.Ā
"Why?" You had asked.Ā
"Just curious, you never told me you liked someone".Ā
"Itā€™s not- itā€™s Imelda starting stupid rumors to see me flustered, thatā€™s all" you reassure.Ā
He could finally relax, his back meeting the cushions as his fingers traveled to your leg.Ā
"You want to finish the book, donā€™t you?"Ā
"Itā€™s fine" you laughed, but Sebastian didnā€™t buy it.Ā
"Come on, finish it, Iā€™ll keep you company".Ā
It was hard to focus back on the story, with his hand tracing small circles above your bare leg, but it became quickly a gentle caress as you kept on reading.Ā
It was ten minutes later when you started to get sleepier.Ā
"Seb" you muttered closing the book, the boy humming while looking at you.Ā
"We should get some sleep".Ā
"Maybe we should"Ā
Neither of you making the move to leave.Ā
"Iā€™m comfy" you admit laughing softly.
"Letā€™s not leave yet, then" he spoke.Ā
The fire was cracking in the background when you shifted, moving closer to the boy, your head now resting on his shoulder as you fell into the warmth of his body.Ā
Sebastian held his hand firmer on your leg now, helping you get closer, as he rested his head on top of yours.Ā
"Would you tell me?" He asked then.Ā
"Tell you what?"Ā
"If you fancied someone, would you tell me?"Ā
"Yes Sebastian, if Iā€™ll ever find someone pleasant enough, I promise I will tell you first".Ā
Four weeks had passed since the start of term and with October approaching the air had got chillier and the days shorter.Ā
You had spent the last three hours in the library, making a research for a new species of mimbulus mimbletonia, something professor Sharp believed to be absolutely essential and you were ready to hide into the comfort of your room and fall asleep.Ā
"Y/n!"Ā
Your eyes travelled the room till they settled on the young man dressed in red and gold making his way towards you.Ā
"Hey, Garreth"Ā
"Hey" he smiled softly, "were you headed to your common room?"Ā
"Yes"
"Mind if I accompany you?"
"Hu? Ah no, you can come".Ā
You and the boy left the library, heading for the dungeons.Ā
"I was wondering if you had a spere hour tomorrow morning? If I can be honest with you Iā€™m not keeping up well with Onaiā€™s crap about tea leaves".Ā
You couldnā€™t help but slip a laugh.
"So now youā€™re laughing at me?" a playful smile plastered on his lips.
"No, no, Iā€™m sorry."
You turned to your right, Garrett following behind as you started to walk down the stairs.Ā
"I have a free hour right after breakfast, sounds good?".Ā
Garrethā€™s smile widened "sound lovely to me".Ā
"What is it that you fail to get about the art of predicting catastrophes?" You teased as the boy stroke his neck.Ā
"I seem to prefer to see only the bright side"Ā
Letting out a stern chuckle you jumped the last step, the sliver snake appearing on the wall as you turned around to face the ginger.Ā
"First lesson: there are no bright sings in divination".Ā
You herd someone caugh as you turned around, Sebastian was lying by the door, his eyes locked onto you.Ā
"Goodnight, Garreth" you spoke as you made your way into the Slytherin common room.Ā
Garreth looking at you disappear before Sebastian followed inside and the door turned to be a wall again.Ā
"Escorted by Weasley, huh?"Ā
The sound of the water fountain running in your ears as you made your way downstairs with Sebastian.Ā
"It seems so" you had replied distracted, something that sent Sebastianā€™s soul on fire.Ā
As soon as you stepped into the common room, Imeldaā€™s voice rose up.Ā
"So I was right? Weasley boy for the win?"Ā
You scoffed and Sebastian felt his body go still.Ā
Were you really going out with that loser?Ā
He didnā€™t know how much it bothered him, until the following day, at breakfast as he was talking about something funny that happened in his class you excused yourself, mumbling you had to meet up with someone.Ā
Of course, that someone was Weasley and of course, as impulsive as he was, he was tempted to follow you.Ā
"Sebastian" Ominis had called, sensing the shifting of his robes, "please donā€™t do it".Ā
Sebastian had scoffed then, returning to his place, violently eating was was left in his plate.Ā
He had time to calm down until he saw you again: your shoulders were moving up and down softly as you rested your head on a potionā€™s book, peacefully swimming into sleep.Ā
It felt like his anger disappeared for a second as he pulled a chair close to yours, his own head resting on the table as he looked at you.Ā
He stole a few glances at your harmless form, before squeezing your shoulder softly.Ā
He felt like choking when you softly smiled at him as soon as you your eyes opened.Ā
"Sebastian" you spoke, a voice so soft he thought he had never heard something more adorable in his life.Ā
"Why are you resting your head on the table?" You had asked then, to which Sebastian smiled.Ā
"I heard this is were we take naps" the boy teased as you shifted softly, a strand of hair falling into your eyes.Ā
Sebastianā€™s finger brushed it off softly, moving a strand behind your ear, discovering your face once again.Ā
That gesture might have woken you up suddenly because you jumped on your seat, quickly collecting your things.
"Oh god, I really fell asleep!"Ā
"Hey, hey, calm down there, will you?"Ā
But your panic only increased as you saw what time it was.Ā
"I was supposed to meet Garrett half an hour ago!"Ā
"Garret? Again?"Ā
"Yes, we didnā€™t get to finish this morning"
If he had known that waking you up would have resulted in you leaving him behind for Weasley, he would have much preferred watching you sleep.Ā
Sebastian got up at the same time as you, his anger coming back to him in waves, "does Weasley really need your help?".Ā
You looked taken aback "yes, he has told me himself he needs help in divination".Ā
Sebastian chuckled darkly, "and he asked you?"Ā
"Are you saying Iā€™m not competent enough?" Your demeanour suddenly changed and Sebastian witnessed as your soft aura started to tint black.Ā
He knew this side of you, he had seen it one to many times and it didnā€™t scare him, in fact, it fascinated him.Ā
The fire in your eyes was matched now, as Sebastian grew taller.Ā
"Iā€™m saying you wouldnā€™t be the first person that pops into my mind".Ā
You scoffed then, holding the books closer to your chest, pride filling your lungs.Ā
"How about you leave the adults to study and mind your business?"
"The adults?"
"Yes you child"Ā
You tried to turn away from him then, but the boy wouldnā€™t let you go far.Ā
"Hey! Donā€™t turn your back on me while Iā€™m talking!"
"Youā€™re not talking Sebastian, youā€™re behaving like a five years old"
"Said the one who canā€™t finish a conversation like two mannered people!"
Your eyes got bigger "are you saying Iā€™m not well mannered either?"Ā
A sigh escaped your lips "listen Sallow-"
"Sallow?"
"Thatā€™s still your name isnā€™t it?"Ā
"Thought you preferred to call me something else".Ā
That unusual use of words didnā€™t go unheard from you, as you stared deep into the boyā€™s orbits.Ā
"Careful there, Sallow, you sound almost-"
"Almost what?" The brunette challenged you.Ā
You felt your blood boil as a voice raised from the students around"get a room!" Someone yelled out.Ā
"Shut it!" You both replied, parting ways, boiling inside, holding hands with pride.Ā
"Sheā€™s so stubborn!" Sebastian huffed.
"Mh what a news" Omins mumbled.Ā
"Itā€™s just, do you even think sheā€™s good in divination?"Ā
Ominis did seem startled by the question, but he answered nonetheless.Ā
"I mean, is there a thing y/n is not good at?"Ā
Sebastian couldnā€™t answer as he sighed flustered.Ā
"Heā€™s a nightmare Anne!" Y/n complained pacing back and forward into their room.Ā
The twin of her best friend, who was at the moment an annoying prick, was resting on her bed, trying to take care of a strange purple plant.Ā
The Sallow girl hummed, listening to her friend rumble.Ā
"He practically attacked me! Saying Iā€™m incompetent? After everything I did?"Ā
"You know he doesnā€™t think that about you" Anne scolded.Ā
"But he said it! The way he was looking at me Anne, I felt like jinxing him on the spot!"
The twin left a chuckle, "you know heā€™s protective of you y/n".Ā
Y/n fell into the bed, her hands tight knots as she sighed flustered, "the way that boy riles me up!"

Hogwarts Legacy Cast - Inaccurate Quotes (Part 2)
(but also kinda accurate)
MC: *holding a bottle* Is this fire whiskey or perfume?
Sebastian: *drinks the entire bottle* It's perfume.
Sebastian: I wasn't "trauma dumping" I was just telling you my lore.
MC: Come on, pretty boy.
MC: ...Ominis?
Ominis: Oh, I'm pretty boy?
MC: YES!
Ominis: Pretty?
MC: Yes.
Ominis: ...šŸ™‚
MC: I think I'm in love.
Ominis: No. He's a red flag.
Ominis: I was traumatized as a child.
Sebastian: Lmao spill.
Sebastian: So I've been thinking, as one does.
Ominis: Glad to hear you think.
Sebastian: I swear MC is in love with me.
Ominis: Sebastian, you're delusional.
Ominis: You read my diary?
Sebastian: At first I didn't know it was your diary, I thought it was a very sad handwritten book.
Sebastian: I saw you flirting with another guy.
MC: Why would I need to flirt with another guy, you've got more than enough personalities to keep me occupied.
Sebastian: Fair point.
