Kimi shrugs: "Depends on the people working on it. If they trust the engineer, it’ll be fine. If they don’t, then it won’t. I’m not in Red Bull, so I don’t care."

Lewis: "Me neither. I’d want to know that my car is ready and safe to drive before the race."

Journalist 2: "But isn’t it risky going into the race like that? Not knowing stuff about a car you'll be driving?"

Max: "Yeah, maybe. But I trust Sam. He worked the whole night on it and if there's anything that Sam knows the best it's this so I’m sure it’ll be fine. And anyway, Adrian checked over his initial calculations or whatever those guys do, and he said everything was sound, otherwise we wouldn't run with it."

Journalist 3: "Can you tell us more about what happened with the part not arriving from the factory?"

Max: "Someone didn’t do their job, so Sam had to come up with something. I trust him more than the person who didn’t send the part." He smirks slightly, looking unfazed.

Journalist 4: "If something does go wrong, how are you prepared for that?"

Max, laughing: "We actually had a meeting about that: Christian, Marko, GP, Sam, Adrian and I. Sam will be in my ears, GP and Christian agreed that it would be the best for this race for GP to assist Sam telling me what to do. And so, I’ll be fine, Sam will be with in my ears, if anything goes wrong he's going to be there. But nothing will go wrong."

Now that the internet is on fire with everyone reminiscing about Sebastian Stan and Leighton Meester’s old relationship (thanks to Heartstrings hitting us all in the feels), I need the shipper fan club to run—not walk—to Brandon Lewis. You know, the self-proclaimed head of the “Sebastian and Annabelle are TOTALLY IN LOVE” campaign? Yeah, him.

The man who brought us gems like “Sebastian sent a sweet note via his girlfriend’s Instagram”—because nothing says true love like using someone else’s account to type a generic caption. Iconic, truly. So, what’s the next wild story he’s going to pull out of thin air to prove the Annabelle and Sebastian love story is totally, 100%, without-a-doubt real? Did Annabelle buy him a house in Neverland? Did they secretly adopt a pet unicorn? The possibilities are endless when delusion knows no bounds.

And let’s not forget Brandon’s Twitter presence, where he’s basically the unpaid PR manager for (insert whatever absurd ship name they’ve come up with for Annabelle and Sebastian). If there’s one thing we can count on, it’s him doubling down and coming up with a whole new narrative to keep the dream alive. Meanwhile, the rest of us will be here, sipping tea, and side-eyeing the entire situation.

My Day with Marvel's Livestream

and how it challenged critics (and me)

Since the spectacle that was Avengers Endgame, there’s been a lot of discussion about the Marvel IP and not all of it is necessarily good. Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania and Secret Invasion left a lot to be desired. Captain America Brave New World was fine, and Anthony Mackie made a great Cap, but it lacked the compelling storytelling and high stakes of the previous Captain America movies. Fans and critics are wondering if Endgame also marked the end of Marvel’s success. That is until Wednesday, March 26th.

The day began like every other – me doomscrolling through Instagram and Twitter while simultaneously dreading another day in the office. Then, I saw it… the red circle flashing around Marvel’s Instagram icon. Upon checking in, all I see is a director’s chair with Chris Hemsworth’s name on it and ominous music playing in the background. “Another Thor movie” was my first thought quickly followed by a disappointment groan, but then the words “Avengers Doomsday” appeared above the chair. Of course – a Doomsday casting announcement. I figured Chris Hemsworth was going to pop up, but then the camera panned to other named chairs – Anthony Mackie, Vanessa Kirby, Sebastian Stan, a cute mini director’s chair for Paul Rudd. By this point, I’m in the office sneaking peeks at my phone every couple minutes hoping for a peek at another casting announcement. I must admit this stunt of revealing a chair every couple minutes was fun, but the cast so far weren’t necessarily unexpected. Yeah, this current phase is introducing a new Captain America, the Thunderbolts, and the Fantastic Four, so of course they’re all going to be in Doomsday. I was intrigued but not impressed.

Cut to a couple minutes later when I snuck another peek at the live stream and what do I see but Tom Hiddleson’s name sliding across my screen. Eyebrows raised, eyes widened – this can’t be the same Loki holding the universe together with his hands! Loki’s last words to Thor raced through my mind – “The sun will rise on us again brother”. A Thor/Loki reunion on the horizon. Now, I’m emotional. But, before I regain my composure, Patrick Stewart’s name is revealed on another chair. Okay, he was in Multiverse of Madness, I get it. Then, comes Ian McKellen’s chair, then Alan Cumming’s, Rebecca Romijn’s, James Marsden’s – the OG X-men cast back together again. By this point, I’m sitting at a ramen spot for lunch with my head in my hands trying to process all of it. The live stream then hits me with one last blow – Channing Tatum. The return of Gambit. He really did make a name for himself. It also hits me that we haven’t seen the OG Mystique, Cyclops, and Nightcrawler since X2 and X-men The Last Stand (if you even want to count Cyclops as “in action” in The Last Stand). Was I bummed that there were no chairs for Halle Berry and Hugh Jackman? Most definitely but I was already in an emotional spiral, so it was probably for the best. The rest of the day resulted in me concealing my excitement and sitting at my desk like the meme of the dog doing so and calmly saying “it’s fine” as fire surrounds him.

I then realized Marvel had a complete hold on me for hours just revealing chairs and I was only one of the 275 million people watching making an all-time record for a Marvel livestream. I’ve been a fan of Marvel films since Iron Man and kept up with everything including the TV shows and specials, but even I was starting to wonder if they were hitting a low point. I remember saying that Captain America New World Order was the first Marvel movie I wasn’t excited to see. But, this chair stunt reminded me why I continue to keep watching – the excitement and the spectacle of the movies and the anticipation of what will happen next. I’m a different fan than I was before the chairs.
