The Baltic Sea, 1878

Marcel: *returning from a patrol, approaching a side of the walls of the safe haven* *steers Seastorm down to fly down to landing site*

Seastorm: *lets out a small roar as he skillfully lands, shaking his head and neck a second after doing so* *blood still covered his front claws, though some of it had dried due to the wind* *a few drops of blood dripped from the dragon’s maw to fall to the hard floor of the landing site* *a shredded piece of fur clothing still hung from one of the dragon’s teeth*

Marcel: *leads his dragon over to the water trough where another dragon and its rider were also resting before dismounting* *his full-face helmet retracted back to let his hair fall free*

Seastorm: *lowers his head to drink from the water trough* *blood washed from his teeth and maw to spread into the water, turning it a shade of blood red*

Marcel: *walks along his dragon’s lower neck as his dragon drinks* *removes one of his gloves to run his hand through his hair*

Other Haven Guard: *calls over to him from by her dragon* How was patrol? Did you manage to sort out the issue they had mentioned?

Marcel: *looks at her, smiling* Was only a couple of beasts, nothing Seastorm and I couldn’t handle. *pats his dragon’s neck again, earning a low rumble from the drinking creature*

Other Haven Guard: *smiles* Oh, didn’t think they’d return to that area after last time. *excited tone* How many did you get?

Marcel: *chuckles, an amused smile still on his face* Only two this time, but there wasn’t that many of them anyway. Only three from what I could see. *smiles at his dragon* Seastorm has gotten pretty good at spotting them. The clever boy. *affectionately scratches the underside of his dragon’s neck*

Seastorm: *who had finished drinking and was surveying his surroundings, trilled happily, leaning into Marcel’s hand*

Other Haven Guard: Still two is two less beasts that we’ll have to deal with later. *pats her dragon’s side, before climbing back onto its saddle* I’m going to take Grayling back to the stables. See you at lunch?

Marcel: *smiles up at her* I’ll be there, just need to clean Seastorm up.

Other Haven Guard: *steers her dragon to leave and heads downwards towards the stables.

Marcel: *turns back to his dragon* *whistles a signal*

Seastorm: *recognizing the signal, lowers his head towards Marcel*

Marcel: *reaches with his gloved hand to pull out the tuft of bloodied fur clothing from his dragon’s teeth* *observes the bloodied fur with a sort of amused curiosity* *without a second thought, he lazily tosses it into his dragon’s mouth, watching as Seastorm swallowed it like it was a treat* [Hopefully we’ll see more of them on our next trip out, though I guess two is still a good count for early morning]
