My favourite thing when writing for hotgw, now that I'm so far into the story that the in universe timeline has reached winter, is outlining a scene where I go "Maybe there is an adjacent late show scene I could use as a point of comparison for my dialouge."

alrighty folks buckle up for the fifth year of menorabilia ratings! I've scoured the internet (and my eyeballs) so get ready for the best and worst chanukah merchandise of the year

okay first I just need to get these fuckin gnomes out of the way. ideally permanently. this guy's hat has so much going on I don't know where to begin. the menorah? not kosher. also wrong. the dreidels? certainly have,,, something written on them. everyone knows reindeer love chanukah, the lighting fires holiday. 5/10 at least it's got SOMEWHAT of a cuteness factor

turning old CDs into fake sufganiyot is certainly creative bc that's the only explanation for those monstrosities that I'll accept. please don't spin your spontaneous combustion menorahs on top of your dreidels. it won't bring the next season any faster. 4/10 I'll put up with a lot if you're offering to pay for my netflix account

they are Setting That Torah On Fire. is that why there's an oil jug next to a candle menorah. 6/10 the פ instead of a ש‎ on the dreidel is because the miracle is just the torah not bursting into flames

this really puts the messy in messianic. it's got the wrong amount of branches. why is the shamash just two stacked cups. the cross looks like an airplane. oh god it also has the jesus fish. -76162802492/10 never knew a single image could contain so much No.

some of these menorahs are kosher and some are not which really spices things up. what a fun little game of I spy for me. I enjoy the addition of various happy animals celebrating chanukah but were the santa hats really necessary? 7/10 that bottom dreidel has two נ‎s. none dreidel with left coins.

I can acknowledge that it's an attempt to jewish-ize a christmas thing but tinsel is, unfortunately, occasionally, pretty. weird choice to have all the menorahs have נ‎s but sure. what's that? those are dreidels? wrong. take a look at the helpful next image of this item.

Will and Mike work at the graveyard and have to stop an undead army from rising, or maybe that’s just where they share their first kiss. The “Zombie Boy” nickname still stings Will when it’s thrown around at school, or maybe not so much after Mike fights their bullies.

Young Byler & Old Byler: What did Mike and Will get up to on their first, second, third Halloween together? How do Mike and Will celebrate Halloween once in college, or in their 20s, 30s, 40s, or 50s? How are they spending Halloween in 2024?

I am overdue for an Episode 1 review, but...

Not really a review per se but scenes that remind me of why this series is so beloved, well written and thought of.

Gyokuyou just knows.

She's the ultimate gosp queen in town and she's actively sniffing out the tea. In this case, she's dying for some spice between the two kiddies (like the rest of us ofc). Mild "spoiler" but later on Gyokuyou expresses how Jinshi is like a little brother to her and teases like this remind me of that, it's so precious.

2. Maomao is Jinshi's 'advisor'

This is one of my favourite Jinmao dynamics in which Jinshi genuinely seeks out and takes Maomao's expertise seriously, from the very beginning. Remember early on in eps 1/2 of season 1 where Jinshi tested her abilities to see if she's legit? Once he confirmed she was the real deal, he's always trusted her opinions and knowledge. And I am so happy to see it continue in this season. Albeit sometimes it seems he takes her advice on board TOO quickly, but he is a very logical person and knows how to put people to good use.

3. I'm not gonna say anything.

But this shot is genius. Got me cackling like a witch.

4. Sexual education(?)

I almost forgot how saturated this series is with sex-related topics and jokes, but they do it in such a way that it doesn't feel inappropriate. With Maomao's business-driven mind, it's actually genuinely funny. And Jinshi getting flustered at being caught interested in said racey books (he was just looking at the printing quality, OKAY???) is just cherry on top.

This friendship is so beautiful to me. And if you read further on in the light novels, you'll start to realize that Maomao's actually a very friendly person (again, in her own Maomao-like way) that just makes other girls genuinely want to spend time with her. And that she's not too shabby at making friends. After all, a small circle of friends is worth more than its weight in gold.

6. Cat lover

I am a sucker for cat metaphors in TV shows and I always think back to this scene in the manga cuz everything was so ON POINT. Maomao basically described her relationship with Jinshi in perfect detail and Jinshi gained some sort of epiphany (lol), learning that he is in fact in love with a cat.

There are others things I want to point out but more suitable to be addressed in future episodes. And is it seriously only one episode a week??? Urghhhh how can I possibly stay sane...?

again apologies if someone has already done something like this, but I’m procrastinating doing my coursework and just want to talk about hatchetfield I want everyone to be aware of this exciting stuff that was announced in the stream so here you go:

the next starkid musical to be released will not be in the hatchetfield universe.

the guy who didn’t like musicals will soon be ready to license.

nightmare time 3 was originally planned to be released in the same year as nightmare time 2 and will wrap up the overarching nightmare time stories (which seem to be miss holloway and the foster sisters respectively).

if they did a fourth hatchetfield musical, it would be about miss holloway and her backstory. it is already written. I am very very extremely normal about this fact 😃

there is a possibility of a hatchetfield movie, and workin’ boys was sort of a test for this concept. it would be a slasher murder mystery centering around the hatchetfield community players (zoey chambers and the cast of workin’ girls, possibly also with ruth, hidgens, alice and any other theatre-oriented characters but that part’s just my speculation). the transcription of the teaser description can be found below the nmt descriptions.

hatchetfield movie: Cast Party Massacre

The Hatchetfield Community Players. You will never find a cattier troupe of two-faced thespians. And more importantly, who amongst them is a good enough actor to pull off such a performance? Can they set aside their petty squabbles and tangled romances, or is it curtains for this ensemble? There’s so much about Heartstopper Season 3 that I LOVE. Obviously Nick and Charlie’s relationship growth is beautiful, and Charlie’s mental health stuff is SO IMPORTANT, and I was SOBBING at Episode 4. HOWEVER. Breakdown of my favourite parts / storylines:

1. Darcy’s exploration of pronouns and gender identity. Seeing them start leaning more masc, cutting their hair, using they/them pronouns, and then coming out to Tara as non-binary?? WONDERFUL. As someone who recently came out as genderqueer (with a fairly similar path as Darcy actually) this made me so emotional and so happy for them and the representation.

2. Isaac. My baby. Everything about him is so wonderful and I just want to wrap him in the biggest hug ever. His coming out scenes (both his one to Charlie and to the Paris Gang) were beautiful. His boundaries in refusing to fill in the gaps for his friends is so admirable, as when you’re outside the ‘mainstream’ queer labels it can become such a tiresome ordeal having to explain your identity to others when they aren’t putting in the work to look it up. I’m SO GLAD he got these moments and he’s such a ray of sunshine. Him being the only one to see that something was wrong with Charlie hurt me deeply but it made me love him even more. Also seeing his cheeky side when it comes to Charlie’s sex life is peak aro/ace romance obsessed behavior.

3. Michael Holden my beloved. Darragh’s portrayal of him is everything - he’s so funny, awkward, and optimistic in every single scene and I just adore him. All of his interactions with Charlie made me fall in love with him even more, and they all just felt so RIGHT. His and Tori’s relationship is wonderful.

4. Tori being the best most beautiful big sister. She has so much love in her but she’s so afraid of letting people in and see her being vulnerable. Her love and anxiety for Charlie is so immense, but she does what she can even when her heart is breaking. I adore her and I’m so looking forward to seeing even more of her in the next season.

5. Nick interacting with Elle, Tara and Imogen on the road trip!!! I love seeing Nick integrate more with that friend group, but allowing him to have those moments of gossip and banter with the girls is beautiful, especially as he’d said previously how he didn’t talk about the deeper stuff with his other friends. Having the girls encourage him to talk - especially Elle causing chaos - was *chefs kiss*.

6. Tao and Nick hugging!!!

7. Charlie, Tao and Isaac’s friendship! I adore seeing them be super huggy and telling each other how much they love each other. Healthy friendships for the win!! No toxic masculinity here!!

8. Tao and Elle’s relationship & his utter adoration of her. The scene where he showed her the video he made of her was so emotionally raw and beautiful and UGH IM OBSESSED

9. Mr Farouk and Mr Ajayi’s soft moments UGH I LOVE THEM. Mr F is one of my fave TV teachers - the way he tells Charlie that he could help so many younger students and you can just tell how much he needed queer rep when was younger!! Ugh I adore these two so much.

The plot may be Eren fighting with his Darling one last time about his decision about the Rumbling. He promises he'll be back with them once he finishes what needs to be done and an argument starts between them where the already unhappy Darling tries to knock the last bit of sense into him before Eren goes off to finish what he's started. I'll leave the rest to you, thank you! :)

"Why do you have so much sympathy for them?" Eren states coldly, tone even with not much emotion. "They're sending people to kill us on this island... I'm doing what's best for us."

The Rumbling had been an idea tossed around for a while now. It had been talked about along with the Founding Titan for various reasons. You thought Eren would simply go along with making Eldians infertile with Zeke...

Yet it seems he's decided to go with the more destructive option.

"It's not right..." You try to argue but Eren, your boyfriend, shushes you with an unamused look.

"This isn't about what's right. They don't care about the Eldians." Eren continues, stepping closer. "Did you forget about how much our friends mean to me... how much you mean to me?"

You feel the man in front of you cup your cheeks, cold blue eyes staring into your own. You freeze when he touches you but reluctantly melt into it. It's been a while since you've had such affection...

Mostly because your relationship with Eren has been rocky the last four years.

"I'm mostly doing this for you, know that?" Eren whispers, breath ghosting over your face. "I want to make this place somewhere safe for us. I don't plan on coming back to you until I achieve that."

"Eren, please, Zeke's plan—" Eren's grip suddenly tightens.

"I don't care what Zeke thinks... You shouldn't either. All you need to know is I'm doing this for you... No one can hurt you if I do this. You and I can finally be happy, know that?"

You feel Eren let go only to pull you into a hug. You struggle, still uncomfortable with the idea of your boyfriend committing mass murder. You still want to think there's ways to make peace with Marley without wiping them out....

Eren could care less about them... not when he has someone like you to care for and keep to himself.

"I'd burn this world and everything in it for you." Eren admits, whispering gently into your neck as he holds you close. You can tell he's manipulating you. After all... He hasn't been this affectionate in weeks since going to Marley. "You're all that matters to me. You always have been."

"Eren... Please just listen... The others are coming up with ideas, I'm sure of it. I can't go along with this...!" You continue to plead, but Eren merely pulls back to look at you in the eyes again.

You can see disappointment and irritation there.

"... I'd kill for you." Eren admits, holding you tight. "In fact, I already have. I've dedicated myself to you so much that no one else matters anymore."

Eren tilts your chin up, his other arm firmly wrapped around your waist.

"A good partner must be willing to make sacrifices for their beloved. Don't you agree?" Eren whispers, ghosting over your lips as though he wants to kiss you. "Can't you see I love you? That you're my motivation... That I'd be willing to destroy this world for you just to give you a happy ending?"

Eren's words made you push against him. He acted like The Rumbling was going to be some romantic gesture to you. He acted like killing millions to 'protect' you was right because you're the only thing that matters to him.

He was too far gone, he probably already was after the Titans were dealt with...

You wonder if what he says is true... If he's really killed for you in the past... and if that even matters now considering what he's planning to do next.

"Get away from me—!" You bark, scrambling out of his hold. Eren watches you blankly, as if just observing what you plan to do next. You then glare in response.

"Eren, I can't do this anymore. I can't love you anymore!" You confess, briefly noticing the tension in Eren's body as he watches you. "You're a monster!"

"A monster?" Eren murmurs, you hate how he seems so casual. "I'm a monster to you?"

"Yes!" You cry, unsure how to sway him from his decision. You thought this would work... breaking it off should snap him out of it...

Yet of course, it didn't matter.

"Fine." Eren answers, stalking closer. "I'm a monster, I accept that."

You make a strangled noise when Eren pins you to the wall of the room. You claw at his wrist when he lightly squeezes your neck. It isn't tight... but it allows him to lean close.

"Even monsters can love, can't they...?" Eren whispers in your ear, keeping you stuck against him. "After all, I know you still love me. There's nowhere else to go, no one else who will dedicate themselves to you like me..."

Eren leans closer, a smug grin on his face.

"No one would level villages or continents just to keep you safe. You'd be miserable with anyone else but me. I'm all you have, I'm all that matters... The Rumbling will happen..." Eren continues, lips grazing against yours.

"... and I'll do it in your name." Eren then kisses you. You struggle against him but he prevents it from happening. By the time he pulls away you spit in his face...

He just laughs.

"Do me a favor and be good while I'm gone, alright?" Eren hums before letting you go. It's then Eren goes to walk away but you try to follow.

"Eren, no, don't do this...!" You cry, Eren ignores you.

"I'll have Mikasa and Armin watch you while I'm gone..." Eren replied, turning to look at you as he puts a hand on the door.

"You better have an apology ready for me when I come back, sweetheart."

It's then Eren shuts the door and you swear you hear it lock...

Leaving you with the knowledge, guilt, and regret that you couldn't stop Eren... along with the dread of what will happen when he's back....
