Not part of the furby community, i just think its interesting, and i was reading your timeline and the comments on it, and was wondering if you could talk more about the furby found in the desert, the swampy furby and just what furbae did?

Good news! As of today, Bumbleweed's shell is 100% clean. The water that ran through him came out the other side clear as crystal! Now it's time for even more intensive drying.

Hello furblr! I’ve got some Bumbleweed updates for y’all. Nothing but good news, don’t worry!

As a starting note, I would like to again thank the community for all of your incredible support as I restore Bumbleweed. Not only did a huge amount of you check out the livestream I did of me shucking him, not only is my inbox full of support, not only did all of my furby Discords stay up with me all night as I cleaned him and give me advice…but you all have even been sending me memes of Bumbleweed, art, and general well wishes. It’s touching to know that a furby that’s been left in the desert for this long and was pretty much abandoned to the entire world is now getting the love and attention he deserves.

That being said, please feel free to block the “f bumbleweed” tag if the posts are getting too overwhelming! I’ve cued up a ton of them to post throughout the day today.

Okay, so updates!

·       There will be images coming out of me fully submerging Bumbleweed himself in water. I know this will upset some of you since you wanted me to get him to work. However, I thought that this was for the best. I couldn’t crack open his shell because the places where the screws were are pretty much just nubs now, and if you saw the stuff coming out of him when I was cleaning him (there was literal plant matter coming out of his speaker at one point), you would understand why for hygienics he needed that. He’ll live on in other ways!

·       My general plan for cleaning him is as follows: subject his fur to multiple cleanings. I’ve already washed it once, and even with soaking all it did was make his fur a lighter shade of grey. It needs intensive care and multiple washes. Probably even needs to soak in a little bit of bleach. As this is happening, I’m soaking Bumbleweed as well to get all of his dirt out. Fortunately, I think this part is mostly done; he’s very clean now! I’m also going to be throwing baking soda on his eyes multiple times to see if that will help with the yellowness; it did make it slightly lighter when I tried it originally. After I’m done soaking him, he’s sitting directly in front of a fan that it permanently hooked into my wall and being blasted with air to prevent mold from growing inside of his shell, with his angle being adjusted to make sure that I get every cranny. At one point, Bumbleweed will be sitting in a vat of rice to absolutely ensure that every bit of moisture is removed – we don’t want mold growing inside of him!

·       The faceplate is still completely weak and generally bad, but I’m being as careful with it as possible. I think getting his fur back on without snapping it will be incredibly difficult.

·       Every time someone told me to tell Bumbleweed that they loved him, I did. I think he really appreciates it.

Hey guys! I need a favor from you all. The more I try to clean it, the more obvious it is to me that Bubmleweed’s fur needs far more than scrubbing and cleaning. He needs a soak with some bleach, to be wrung, to just basically undergo a heck of a lot more than his faceplate can handle. I need to intentionally remove his faceplate, and if I do that, it’s not going to go back in without breaking into a million pieces. Does anyone either a) know where I can get a faceplate/skin/cheap donor furby (who would be very well cared for and basically treated like a hairless cat) or b) have 3D print plans for a faceplate (I have access to a 3D printer, and this would be the cheapest option for me)? I would greatly appreciate it.
