prefacing this with: i'm not in the harry potter fandom so this is from an outside perspective

something i've noticed is that there seems to be a difference between harry potter fans and 'marauders' fans where the latter are more... delusional - for lack of a better word

Well, you know, the hp fandom has always been full of weirdos, due in part to its size. It's more like a bunch of fandoms walking together under an invisibility cloak. The Marauders stans in particular have evolved in ways that sometimes keep me up at night as i contemplate the horrors of this world. But they're not alone in madness, we also have endless ship wars, those people who go a bit too far with the Slytherin/Death Eater aesthetic, those who think Harry is too boring and should be a rocket scientist, dedicated haters of absolutely any side character you can think of, a bunch of women convinced that Snape is a god they can have sex with on the astral plane, one guy who ‘channeled’ Seamus Finnigan and rewrote him as an IRA rebel, Harry Potter themed wedding drama… it's never boring out there. I've seen mummy issues projected on JKR the likes of which you wouldn't believe.
