  “Yeah, Saix seems hellbent on making this place as cold as the North Pole.” Deyx  grumbled. He sighed tiredly and turned his seafoam gaze towards his young bud. Poor kid must’ve been freezing. 

With a quiet chuckle he lightly jabbed the kid with his elbow, gesturing to himself with a nod. “Well, I ain’t much but you can come  closer. I’m not gonna bite’cha y’know.”

X. This is a compilation of mini headcanons pertaining to the DATABASE verse, the second modern AU. They all specifically apply to that verse and were basically too numerous and small to be deserving of individual posts. For convenience, I bolded the basic idea behind each headcanon.

Isa is not purely Japanese. His father is only half Japanese, being originally a first generation on his father’s side, born and raised in America before moving back to Japan in his thirties. So while Isa is the majority Japanese, the European mix on his father’s side contributed to his fair eyes and hair.

Isa is fluent in both Japanese and English, as well as various computer code languages such as Programming, Command, and Machine.

His parents were murdered when he was nineteen, during his sophomore year at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. 

After graduating from small gangs, Isa joined one of the largest yakuza families in Tokyo, which held global connections that could benefit his growth as an information broker.

While in the yakuza, Isa acquired quite the display of tattoos all done in Irezumi (入れ墨), the traditional style of Japan. He has one full sleeve on his right arm which depicts Gyokuto (玉兎), a rabbit yokai which is said to inhabit the moon where it pounds mochi. The ink expands the full length of his arm (stopping just a few inches shy of his wrist) and curls out to his right pectoral with clouds and a crescent moon. On his back is his largest piece. A ferocious blue Oni (鬼), a Japanese ogre demon, surrounded in clouds and golden stars which spread to the sleeve on his left arm. Around the demon are also Senbiki ōkami ( 千疋狼 ), a pack of vicious wolf yokai. The piece takes the full width of his back, stretching down to his ass and ending just at the back of his thighs. Usually all of his tattoos are concealed, favoring long sleeves with the exception of his Demoniac attire. Beneath the jacket he wears a black compression tank top, revealing his sleeve and the top of his back piece.

Also while a part of the Japanese mafia, Isa worked in both the drug and sex trade. He managed information, not tending to be hands on with the actual industries. However, socializing and downtime within his family was often spent in the Red Light District. This is likely the only verse Isa is not completely sexually inexperienced. He is still on the asexual spectrum and is not particularly interested in sex. However, as displays of stereotypical “manliness” are prominent among the yakuza, he did participate in some promiscuous activity with women for the sake of image. That said, same sex relationships are completely foreign territory.

In addition, Isa learned Jujutsu (柔術), a form of Japanese martial arts, while with the yakuza. Though not a master, he is skilled enough to hold his own in a physical brawl.

Since his yakuza days and carrying into his work as the Demoniac, Isa wields two weapons. A retractable baton is nearly always on his person for self defense or non-lethal confrontations. If planning to bleed information from a target, literally, Isa favors a steel bat with barbed wire welded around the length. This particular choice calls back to the image of the Oni, who often brandish clubs.

The Demoniac has maimed and killed for the sake of intel. By his victims he will graffiti his hacker logo: A simple design of a crescent moon on its side like a smile with a jagged line of teeth, glaring eyes, and devil horns. This is done with blue spray paint and was a habit he picked up since his early days in small-time gangs. 

In comparison to his main verse, Isa is somewhat more comfortable with physical contact in this verse. As he was nineteen when he was attacked by an assassin, scarring his face and nearly dying, he was more mentally mature to cope with the reality. This is not to say adults cannot be affected by such trauma, but Isa in particular was able to look at the situation more objectively. Having his heart also makes him more capable of coping with the experience over the following seven years. Though he still prefers his personal space, Isa is not physically ill by the mere thought of physical contact.

Isa has a moderate alcohol tolerance in contrast to his main verse. Due to his time in the yakuza he built up a decent tolerance. However, he can still get drunk relatively easily and will be his usual sleepy/giggly self when that happens. Aside from alcohol and caffeine, he does not use any other recreational drugs or stimulants.

Saix joined Organization XIII at age twenty-six, rather than in his early teens like his main verse.

Saix has a tendency to give nicknames in his native tongue if he has taken an interest in you, be it positive or negative. More affectionate nicknames tend to end in -chan. To those he is less fond of he favors different types of Yokai, without honorifics.

Though still reserved with his emotions, Saix’s personality tends to favor more to what we see in Kingdom Hearts III. He remains an enigma and quite cold, though with a slightly playful side since he has a heart in this verse.

His eyes are still the seafoam color of Isa, even as Saix, since (as of right now) “norting” does not exist in this verse.

While out as the Demoniac on missions, Isa wears a blue Oni mask in a style similar to that of Japanese Noh theatre. The skin of the demon is blue while the horns are painted gold and the eyes are yellow frosted lenses. Behind the fangs of the mask is a voice scrambler to conceal his identity. The entire mask is made from metal, rather than traditional carved cypress.

His attire tends to vary, depending on the task at hand and you can find reference HERE for both casual, business, and Demoniac work. As the Demoniac he wears entirely black, always with a deep hood shrouding his head. His hair will be tucked back in a low bun to keep out of his face, as well as not give hints to his identity. A backpack or messenger bag will usually be on his person to carry any necessary gear. In contrast, his daily wardrobe is much more refined. For business and meetings with clients he will always wear a three piece suit, occasionally without a tie, and a pair of black leather gloves and dress shoes. On casual days he tends to favor layers, scarves and long coats as he is often cold. Never will you see Isa in short sleeves or with sleeves rolled up, aside from the compression tank beneath his Demoniac coat. This is to conceal his tattoos as they tend to unfortunately give some a less than professional impression.

Saix wears both glasses and contact lenses. As glasses would be tricky beneath his mask, he prefers contacts while out as the Demoniac. Otherwise he is typically wearing a pair of half-rimmed black glasses. Without any assistance, he is borderline legally blind due to damage inflicted by the wound upon his face. Basically this is what he sees:

"I understand that you're the boss," he growls, holding leather tight within a gloved grip, "but I want to make one thing clear. /Keep your hands to yourself./ If I find out you've laid another hand on Saix, the two of us are going to get /very/ well acquainted."

       Xemnas was unfazed. He figured Axel would either cower away or do something about this. While he didn’t think him to be this bold, he was still very unimpressed by his attempt to threaten him. His movement was quick as his arm came up and grabbed Axel by the throat, squeezing tight enough to bruise. His switched their positions and slammed his back into the wall. 

       “You sure are persistent.. I cannot tell if you’re brave or just stupid, VIII.” He squeezed tighter. “VII belongs to me and if you ever speak to me like this again; you will find yourself and XIII on the other end my blades. Is that understood?”

namine going missing is something i don't exactly remember bc as far as i could remember she stayed at castle oblivion to repair sora's memories, but considering that in previous cutscenes she was at the mansion and earlier with diz and diz isn't exactly the org's ally i am inclined to think that he was involved in that HASLKDFJLDS

(i did actually talk w someone about the pods being moved to under the mansion in twilight town and i guess. yeah it's probably diz's fault)

it took me a moment to vibe out that saix thinks she's so below him that there's no way she could pose a threat... xigbar still sees value in her, or at least considers her as more of an entity than saix does......

i remember discussing about the org being like a cult once and yeah. this feels sorta . anyway. the fact that xion's searching for answers (bc nobody tells her anything of substance) feels really good for her character but i already vaguely know it's not going to end well for her so . we'll see how that plays out ig

and whatever the Fuck this means? hello? mr president?

honestly the sudden jump from saix thinking xion is way below him to suddenly saying "oh we should do something about her!" is really funny do you want to suck his dick that badly.

but also. there's something that tickles my brain about xion choosing to find answers that (appears to, at least, in xemnas's view) dooms her. interesting.

i know axel does his tough love thing but i don't think this is the best time to leave him in the dark... we don't get to see this roxas angry expression so often and. god i don't know how it must feel (pun intended) to be axel . you have to let go of one of your friends because they're slowly being destroyed from the inside and now you can't tell the other why you had to let them go.

and you can Feel how much guilt he's got hiding under there or else he wouldn't act like this...

ough. i knew he'd have to find out the truth soon and i was expecting him to only find out after things had happened irreversibly but i think his anger, his denial...

i had to pause at this last one because roxas saying that xion is a person and not a nobody kinda just. hit me a little... though they've talked a lot less about the distinction between the nobody and the human lately i still wonder if this is important...

and this... i hate to say it but this is such a beacon of a flag. and yet it still hits like a goddamn truck w how much of himself he puts into this line..... augh.............

i get it like... axel isn't in the best of positions either with him being close to saix but also his friends literally being saix's playthings... and the fact that he's about to lose both of them is...........

i didn't end up catching a screenshot of it but noting This. sitting here thinking about the way axel's expression goes a little pained when saix says the name. sitting here thinking about how this is the nobody version of the dropping-nickname-for-real-name thing. man

this shot just makes me feel a little. like roxas is so small. he has no power. he's certain his best friends are keeping things from him. the people higher up won't listen to him. he has no sense of stability any more because of all these things

ANYWAY. what the hell. what the helllllll. yes i was aware that the org would be strict about missions and results but that's just cruel... and besides, i wonder if this is because roxas woke up? she can't control it when roxas is using it...? either way yeah i can understand why she just... hasn't come back. that's a perfectly valid thing to be scared of...

meanwhile axel over here like "hey roxas wanna have double the workload" but ough. yeah . i see why people say they're written very believably as friends which is completely ironic because they have to learn what friendship means without the ability to feel human emotions

actually there's the possibility of them not letting sora see kairi being because he cares for her TOO much from that wording ("in that case...") rather than just being a bastard

honestly i think this annoyance is very justified... sora's had absolutely no hints on where either of his friends are and i would also feel super frustrated when everything regarding riku has been "ask the king!" but the king won't say shit and everything regarding kairi has just been that surechigai in twilight town

from the way the king's been acting though (he refused to explain how he and riku parted even though they should've been together) (when told to ask the king he immediately deflects and doesn't answer the question) (then he immediately jumps into the fucking portal) i find it pretty sus that he hasn't said anything. also the fact that riku hasn't showed up for a long time makes me curious about what he's doing because the amount of stuff we get to see of him does not explain anything at all

so mister cross guy says... the hearts that the heartless collect are released with the keyblade, and... they eventually form kingdom hearts...? oh, and also that when kingdom hearts is formed, nobodies will finally be able to exist? (i really don't get it)

i guess it makes sense that the hearts released by the keyblade don't return to the bodies...

bonus thought: the heartless ally with those who are stronger, so... see i would think that they would be able to tell a strong heart from a weak heart so they can collect them, but... nobodies don't have hearts in the sense of the things that the heartless collect, do they? (though some insist that they do have hearts. i would guess that means they say they have hearts in the way that they have intangible feelings and goals, rather than. heart hearts) maybe they can sense conviction or will... hm

huh. hey axel.

so what he's saying is that every heartless killed with the keyblade releases a heart. which makes sense with what mage has told me (when separated, the heart becomes the heartless and the body becomes the nobody?) and that's part of xemnas's Plan

earlier they did say that the leader likes to hang about in the chamber with the "friend"... i feel like this is a stretch to say it would be related so maybe...? it's related...? idk man
