Unfinished Friday

Got the idea from @tackytigerfic and lordy lordy lordy loo do I feel perceived 🤣

Soo this is a 7th year Marauder fic I started back in 2021 at the behest of the Wolfstar Discord that never quite got its feet off the ground.

“Oh, come on, Remus, it’ll be fun!”

He raised a brow and turned the page of his book without looking up. “No, thank you.”

A sigh. A familiar rustling of robes. The smell of rose and ginger. A flash of red hair. A press of pale fingers down the spine of his book. “Remus John Lupin, I hereby invoke the Favor.” Lily Evans regarded him with eyes like fresh spring clover, her free hand cocked on her hip as she leaned into his personal space. They were only about a foot apart now, and there was no escaping The Look.

He sighed, wrested his book from her punishing grip, and closed it neatly in his lap. “Of course you do,” Remus bemoaned softly, tucking the tome into the bag at his feet. There was nothing for it -- the Favor was one they traded often, something owed that passed between them almost as a joke. Normally, it was a quick glance over homework or something like ‘I can’t be arsed to get up and Our Boys are not around, so please could you fetch me a tea?’, not… this. “I’ve never played before.”

Lily smiled, her entire face lighting up with the gesture, light radiating from every pore. Merlin, but she was lovely, wasn’t she? Remus found himself swept up in it, and had to staunchly squash down the urge to smile back -- he was trying to be cross with her, smiling would ruin the whole thing. “But you’ve watched, haven’t you? Matches with your dad, right, on the telly? I’ll bet you know the rules better than I do.” She batted her eyelashes at him, long, mascara-dark things that got him every time. Girls.

She was trying to butter him up -- he knew this, knew her tricks after six years of friendship, and yet… It worked. Like a fucking charm. And it was The Favor, after all.

“I do know the rules,” he admitted quietly, steepling his fingers together. His childhood had been rather lonely, after all -- mornings stretching into afternoons that lazed into evenings without other children to play with meant that Remus spent a great deal of his time reading or joining his parents at the television set. He’d been particularly fascinated by the game, of the men and women in peak physical fitness sprinting across a green field in shiny shirts and shorts, and it was the only time his father ever seemed to get excited about anything anymore. So Remus had been drawn to it, as much as he was to the sea, and absorbed the complexities of the game in his knowledge-sponge way.

“So…?” Lily wrapped her hands around his and pulled him to his feet with a little bounce, victory clear as day on her sunny face. At his nod of assent, she hugged him fiercely around the middle, her face tucked into his sternum in glee. “Yes, amazing! Right. So, you’ll be on my team!”

“Aren’t you...splitting them by genders?” He might be bent, but he wasn’t a girl.

Lily shrugged. “Technically, but that’s just to foster some inner-team solidarity since we’re mixing the Houses.” She frowned faintly, the tiniest moue forming between her eyebrows. “Not much interest from some of the other students, I’m afraid. They don’t… want to be associated with a Muggle game.”

She didn’t have to explain why -- it was plain. A Muggle game meant being labeled as a Muggle Sympathizer, as a Blood Traitor, even. They weren��t stupid -- they all knew there was a war on the horizon, about to come to a boil, but...they were still kids, weren’t they? Of-Age wizards, certainly, but only Peter and Sirius were eighteen in their little band, and they still deserved a spot of fun.

“Besides,” she said, fixing him with a coy grin, “you’ll finally get to help me put Potter in his place! Black, too, I guess.”

Remus snorted, shaking his head. “You can call him ‘James’, you know. You’re dating.”

“Don’t remind me,” she teased, though the look on her face -- doe-eyed and rosy-cheeked -- gave her away in a heartbeat. Their relationship was very new -- only a couple of weeks old, but Remus knew she was absolutely smitten with James Potter. “So, we’ll practice on Wednesdays and once McGonagall gets it cleared, we’ll have matches on Sundays! Potter-- alright, James, ugh -- was deadset we didn’t interfere with his ‘precious Quidditch’, but they’ll be early afternoons so don’t you start with me about your studies, Remus Lupin. I’m taking more N.E.W.T.s than you, I don’t want to hear it!”

Her rambling muted him, and he shut his mouth with an audible click. Well alright, then. Remus knew better than to argue when she was in full sail like this. The HMS Lily Evans was truly a force to be reckoned with. “Wait… the club hasn’t even been approved yet?” he asked, incredulous. It was unlike Lily to come into this half-cocked. Her sign-up sheet, though not as flush as she’d like to be, had an impressive amount of names on it. It would be a decent number of people to let down…

She pulled thoughtfully on her lower lip in a familiar nervous tic. “Well… Professor McGonagall seemed very confident she could get it approved… I trust her!” she decided, releasing her lip with a nod to herself.

Remus grinned and ruffled her hair, earning him a well-placed jab to the ribs. “Alright, alright. Wednesdays and Sundays, then. I’ll clear my schedule.”

Minerva had been delighted to hear about Lily Evans’s club idea -- football, indeed! Oh, she hadn’t seen a live match since she was just a girl, and even then, it was only the lads at the local co-op putting it on for a lark. She smiled to herself as she bustled down the corridors towards the Headmaster’s office, remembering those games. She announced the password -- ‘Curly Wurly’ -- and adjusted the fit of her hat. One had to look their best, after all.

Albus looked up from his desk and greeted her with a nod. “Ah, Minerva, welcome. You have a proposition for me, I hear?” He did not stop the quill scrawling across his desk, nor rise to greet her. That was fine, he was a busy man.

“Yes, Albus. Lily Evans would like to start an intramural football club.”

The quill came to a scratching pause, and he searched her face with pale blue eyes. “I cannot say that I can support a club that would only create more animosity between the Houses, Minerva -- Quidditch has done a fair enough job of that as it is, don’t you think?”

She resisted the urge to tidy her hat again -- Albus had such a long way of speaking, never quite saying what he meant. Fortunately, she’d had decades of experience of dissecting his speech patterns, and had come prepared. “I agree, Albus,” she began, watching the flicker of light behind his eyes, “but this will be a mixed-House club. Miss Evans proposed a boys against girls game.”

“And do you think that to be entirely fair?”

Minerva frowned, drawing herself up a little straighter. “Albus, you are not implying that the girls cannot hold their own, surely?” It was 1977, for Godric’s sake!

The smallest of smiles unfurled across his lips and a familiar twinkle entered his eyes, one Minerva hadn’t seen in years. “Ah, of course not. I am certain Miss Evans will give anyone who thinks so a run for their money. Am I to assume you will be the faculty sponsor for this club, Minerva?”

Her schedule was quite full as it was, but perhaps she could convince Pomona to take on a bit more detention proctoring this term… “Yes, you assume correctly. Are we aligned?” She fixed him with a look of cautious anticipation, and only her rigid self-control kept her from Shifting into the cat at his nod of assent. “Thank you, Albus. I will keep you posted of the matches.” Minerva gave him a brief nod, took a cinnamon candy from his desk, and left his office feeling quite giddy indeed.

"Moony-moon-Moony, wait-- where are you going-- and ...AUGH!!! You're not!"

"Traitor!"

"Padfoot, Wormtail, we knew this was a matter of time."

"Just-- maybe he has an explanation. You have an explanation, don't you, Moonfish?"

"Oof, Pads, that one's not very flattering, strike it?"

"Ah, yes, too right, Mr. Prongs, and duly noted. Well, Mr. Moony, what do you have to say for yourself!?"

Remus looked at his three closest friends from across the white line painted on the Quidditch-turned-football Pitch with thinly veiled ire. "I'm not sure I understand the question, Padfoot-in-my-mouth."

Sirius scoffed and gestured wildly at Remus's uniform. "Why, Moony, is your uniform...white?" He gestured to his own, very black, shirt and shorts.

"Well, I'll tell you," Remus declared, leaning in all conspiratorial-like until he was fully in Sirius's space -- not, he noticed, that he minded. He cupped Sirius's face in his hands and inwardly rejoiced at how he practically melted, and smirked. "I wanted to be on the winning team."

"Oi!!! Out of bounds, Lupin! Foul! Card! Whatever… that means. Moony, you have betrayed us!" James cried from a few feet away, his face aghast. "What makes you so sure the lads are going to lose?"

Remus looked at the black-clad boys scattered across the field and cocked an eyebrow. They were...a motley group, to be honest, and largely pureblood. Xenophilius Lovegood was trying to coax a bit of rogue heather he'd brought in his pocket to take root in the grass of the Pitch. Peter was missing his protective shin guards. Damocles Belby looked a bit winded already, his ruddy cheeks even more crimson than they usually were. The other six boys just...looked a bit lost. Compared to the girl's team, which held Remus, Lily, Marlene, Mary, Sibyll -- not their best get, admittedly -- and a few younger girls Remus was embarrassed not to know the names of yet, they looked a bit... lacking.

Lily appeared at his side and glared at James with her hands on her hips. "Oi, Potter, don't harass my goalkeep," she snapped, though her frown quickly tilted up into a smirk.

"Moony's my boyfriend," Sirius muttered sourly, casting sad, gray eyes up at Remus that made him feel just a little guilty. Nevermind, he'd make it up to Sirius later, do that thing he liked with his

And I actually have 4 so... Here we go!

Treasure Planet. So underrated, which is totally unfair. Beautiful story and one of the few (if not only) Disney movies that don't have a love interest for the MC. It's all about growing up and finding yourself and found family. In fact, just realized, Jim is like Stag in that regard. Both were abandoned at a young age by their fathers and became rebellious to the point of being impossible to deal with until their father figure came into their life. And also, never having a father of my own to look up to, this really resonates with me. Haha, Deshi's dad left him at a young age too. I'm sensing a theme. 😆 Unlike Stag though, Deshi doesn't need a father figure in the sense that he's not looking for one nor does he find one. (Although Lord Carroll does get close...)

Sinbad, another underrated film. By Dreamworks this time. The most alluring part of this film:

That fucking hair!!! Man, I could just watch how her hair flows forever. Like, nobody has ever made hair that moves like this before, or since! It's close to underwater hair, but not quite, so Little Mermaid doesn't count. But seriously, that fucking hair. And Sinbad is pretty funny. 😆 Most quoted scene between Deo and I, a dude gets thrown up by a sea monster, shakes it off, and goes to attack again. "Give that guy a raise." -Sinbad Yes, please. He deserves it. 😀👍

Anastasia. I loved this movie growing up. Rasputin what such a terrifying bad guy, and Anastasia was anything but weak. Despite it not being a Disney flick at the time, it broke the mold on Disney princesses. Tangled and Frozen hadn't come out yet and Anastasia was the only princess to do what she wants, when she wants, how she wants. Instead of the man saving her from some evil villain, he saves her in the very beginning from a threat to the royal family. And then she saves herself from Rasputin at the end. Well, and Dimitri, because, you know, he was hanging off a bridge. So many movies before this were misogynistic and so many after are so feminist that they really diss on males, but in Anastasia, they are equals simply facing the world together, and to me, that's just beautiful. Chic Petty Bourgeois

The inspiration for this fig came from Zhehan's Chic Magazine photoshoot from Spring 2021.

I'm not sure why the MTL calls Zhehan's feature the "Petty Bourgeois CHIC Summer Cover Story", but Petty Bourgeois is also what the fig maker called this fig. Amazing. I love it.

Here's the inspiration for the fig. I clearly need to get some greenery and pose the fig behind it to replicate this beautiful soft look.

Alright! I think we're ready to get started.

He arrived perfectly! I've had generally good luck so far with the polystyrene, but I'll wait to make my judgements until I get this next big sea shipment in. I rolled the dice on not air column wrapping some of the latest figs, since at this point I'm not entirely sure they all need it, and if I have to spend hours and hours again carefully peeling off tape to recycle endless bubble column pieces I might just keel over. We'll see how clever or foolish I was!

And here he is! Looking very sweet and soft eyed indeed. The flat line for the mouth makes me laugh!

The fig maker did a great job of rendering his very expressive eyes, and I especially like that she mirrored the yellow, uh...jacket print in his eyes. Oh my goodness, I have no idea how to describe the jacket. Here it looks at bit like pavement markings? road stripes? but in the Chic photos it looks almost like stripey lights.

I'm going to call it a "City Lights" pattern. I just don't know!

I had to scroll up to see what his pants and shoes looked like, and yep, these are it. I like how the fig maker made them flare out the tiniest bit at the bottom.

He stands just fine. I'm convinced the fact that his pants are joined like that and one piece makes him more stable.

I love when figs are doing something, whether it is a foot kicked up or them holding something. If the fig wasn't posing with the hand up like the pic, it might be too plain (although you may disagree that the City Lights pattern could ever be considered too plain!).

I also like how the fig maker did kind of an ombre effect on the City Lights to give it more visual interest.

His hair here is great. I know I've talked about how I kind of love all incarnations of Zhehan's varied hairstyles, but this soft tousled hair with a lot of wispy pieces is fantastic.

Jeez his hair looks good. The fig maker did it perfectly.

I like the little waist tie belt, very cute. I scrolled back up to look at his belt but of course in the pics he's either cut off above the waist or he's sitting curled over hiding his waist. And such a fine waist too!

The top view - his hair looks fairly no big deal from the top, but that's because all the fun piece-y parts are in the front.

No box card, sadly, mine was missing one. This fig maker does plain white boxes too, so looks like this is a short blog post today!

Gargantica Attack of the Time Dragon

High-Tech City Year 2041

Somewhere in the far future, a battle was beginning to take place. Two combatants stood ready to fight. One resembled a massive golden dragon-like monster with four wings and spikes down it's back. It also had arms and two sturdy legs and green eyes. The Time-Dragon roared at its opponent. The other Giant was human in origin and had a female shape with long dark red hair and blue eyes. Gargantica stood ready to fight. The two colossal combatants charged at one another and slammed into each other. Clenched fists were countered, with clawed hands. "You're not gonna win that easy Time Dragon!" shouted Gargantica as she swung the Time Dragon by its tail. Thankfully the Time Dragon then fires off its eye beams at Gargantica's arms, causing her to let go. The Time Dragon then takes this opportunity to strike Gargantica in the face with its tail and drop kick her to the ground.

As Gargantica was on the ground, the Time Dragon then lands on top of her, with its fangs out. However, just as the Time Dragon was about to end Gargantica's life, a massive blue, white and, pink blur rushes in and tackles the Time Dragon to the ground. Gargantica then looks up to see a fellow Giantess right by her side. She was none other than her good friend and ally Varyanzer. "Looks like you could use some help here," said Varyanzer. "Took ya long enough!" joked Gargantica as she was getting up. The Time Dragon then gets back up only to see that it is outnumbered in this fight. However, it did have one more trick up its sleeve. The Time Dragon then spreads its wings out wide as they began to glow a neon blue color. "Oh no," said Varyanzer. "It's going to travel through time!" That it was, The Time Dragon's wings then generate bolts of blue lightning, which in turn causes a giant portal to open up behind it. "Oh no, you don't!" shouted Gargantica as she then runs and tackles the Dragon right through the portal. "Gargantica, wait!" shouted Varyanzer, as she follows behind.

Now all three are stuck through a time warp caused by the Time Dragon. "Where is that Big lizard taking us?" asked Varyanzer. "I think its more like when Vary," said Gargantica.

PRESENT DAY, NEW YORK CITY 2021

Over in New York City, Two Red-Haired Giantess had just finished cleaning up a part of the city after fighting off a Giant Squid like creature. The Titan Twins Titanya and Colossa are otherwise known as Tanya, and Cali Hall were busy clearing away rubble. "Ugh god, I hate fighting sea Monsters!" Snapped Titanya. " they never fight fair when they're in the water. "I think that's the idea with sea Monsters sis," said Colossa.

"I guess," snorted Titanya. "By the way, do you think that you should be working what with your condition and all?" Colossa looks up at her sister. "I'll be fine, Titanya, plus I want this to be a surprise for Steve," said Colossa. "If you say so," said Titanya.

Over in New Jersey, a massive portal opened up on the outskirts of the city. The Time Dragon had finally made through time first ahead of Gargantica and Varyanzer. The Time Dragon roars, letting his presence be known to the world. It wasn't long until several helicopters had flown in and surrounded the Time Dragon, but the beast had managed to destroy all of them with energy beams.

Back in New York, The Titan Twins had just finished their work, and we're about to head home. "Finally, we can head back home." Said Titanya. However, the alarm on both there communicators had gone off. "What the hell?" Said Titanya. "It must be Gaia," said Colossa. Colossa the answers. "Colossa, here, what's up?" Said Colossa. "Colossa, there's been a Kaiju sighting over in Jersey we need you and your sister to get there and handle it," said Gaia.

"So much for going home," said Titanya. The two redheads then make their way to New Jersey to deal with this new threat. Back in New Jersey, the Time Dragon was rampaging through the city. As the attack went on, another portal had opened up, and two Giantess walked through. Gargantica and Varyanzer, who were following the Time Dragon, had found where he was. "I have forgotten how low tech the past looked," said Varyanzer. "There's no time for sightseeing Var we got to get to that Dragon before it causes any damage to the past," added Gargantica. "Nor should we do anything to damage it either." Varyanzer nodded and head toward the city. Over in the city the Time Dragon was already trashing the military. It wasn't long until Titanya and Colossa had arrived to confront the monster.

"Didn't think we'd be fighting a Dragon," said Colossa. "Who cares that overgrown lizard is going down!" said Titanya. The Time Dragon then sees the two Giantess and then stares right at Colossa. The Time Dragon's eyes glow bright red its systems then senes Colossa's DNA and how it was similar to another certain giantess. The Time Dragon then lunges at Colossa and tackles her to the ground. "Hey back off my sister Ugly!!" shouted Titanya. Titanya then grabs the Time Dragon by the tail and pulls him off of her sister only for the Dragon knock her off her feet with its eye beams. The Time Dragon then go back after Colossa with jaws snapping! "Jesus, why is it after me!?" asked Colossa who had just punched in the throat. While the fight was going on Gargantica and Varyanzer had just arrived to see the Time Dragon fighting with Colossa.

"Oh no!" said Gargantica in a worried tone of voice. "Gar, that Dragon after your Mother!" said Varyanzer. Indeed Varyanzer was right Gargantica was the daughter of Colossa and future member of the Giantastics. The Time Dragon analyzed Colossa's DNA and matched it up to Gargantic's and now he was going to try and kill her so Gargantica would never exist! Gargantica then charges at the monster and roundhouse kicks the Time Dragon in the head knocking the monster out. Colossa then looks up to see Gargantica offering her a hand. "Are you ok?" asked Gargantica. "I'm fine thanks for the assist," said Colossa. "Who are you?" Colossa gets to her feet and looks at Gargantica. Gargantica knowing that if she told her everything that it would cause more damage to the timeline than the Time Dragon would. "Uh, you can call me a friend," said Gargantica nervously. Colossa then looked at her inquisitively due to her remark. "Ok?" said Colossa.

However, The Time Dragon had regained consciousness and was about to fly at the Mega sized mother and daughter duo. Thankfully the Time Dragon was being pulled by the tail by Varyanzer. "Hey, Gargantica a little help here!?" shouted Varyanzer. "I'm on it!" said Gargantica who had just rushed over to fight the Monster. "Gargantica?" said Colossa. The Time Dragon then pushes both Varyanzer and Gargantica away from it and is about to attack them both. Thankfully, the Time Dragon is hit right in its jaw by none other than Gargantica's aunt and Colossa's twin sister Titanya. Colossa then charges in and uppercuts the Time Dragon. "Nice hit sis!" said Titanya. "Thanks, glad to see you're still alive," added Colossa. Just then Varyanzer and Gargantica then rush in to finish off the monster. A long blade appears from Varyanzer's wrist while an energy cannon appears from Gargantica's. "Ready?" asked Varyanzer. "Let's do it!" said Gargantica.

Gargantica blasts the monster with her cannon, while Varyanzer impales it right through the chest killing it once and for all! "That takes care of that Time Dragon," said Varyanzer. The Titan Twins then walk over to the two future heroes. "Hey, you guys were great out there!" said Titanya. "Yeah, but what was that thing?" asked Colossa. Gargantica then explains most of what was going on to her mother and aunt, save the part of her being their descendant. "So this Time Dragon thing is dead right?" asked Titanya. "Yes, now we've got to take it back to our time and properly dispose of it," said Varyanzer. "But how are you two going to get back?" asked Colossa. Gargantica uses her wrist cannon and the Time Dragons head and opens a time portal. "Well, we have to go," said Gargantica. "safe travel you too," said Titanya. "Hopefully we'll see each other again soon," said Colossa. "Yeah, Hopefully," said Gargantica. Before leaving Gargantica then give Colossa a great big hug and then runs through the portal. "Goodbye, Gargantica," said Colossa. Garagantica then waves back at her. "Goodbye......Mom," Whispers Gargantica.

The Portal disappears. "Sweet Girl," said Titanya. "Yeah, but for some reason, I think that I've known her from somewhere," said Colossa.

The Giantastics HQ

Back at the HQ, Steven Hall Colossa's husband was busy working some new tech. The Twins then make it back to the base. "Well, he's here are you going to tell him?" whispered Titanya. Colossa then walks over to her husband. "Oh, Cali your back," said Steve. "Hey, steve do you have a moment?" asked Colossa. Steven then walks over to his towering wife. "What's up?" asked Steven. "I have some big news for the two of us," said Colossa. "Ok, what's the news?" asked Steven. "I'M PREGNANT!!" shouted Colossa excitedly. Steven was amost taken aback by this news. he was going to be a father! Steven had then passed out.

Azul Fact Sheet

(Voted 5th-most-popular-character on the jpn server in a combination of seven different character-ranking surveys held throughout 2021)

Azul not only excels academically, but simultaneously runs a cafe, "Mostro Lounge”, out of the Octavinelle dorm. In addition to managing the food, drinks, atmosphere and employees of the cafe, he also runs a side-business providing advice and services to troubled NRC students, for a fee.

He has been friends with Jade and Floyd since they were young children. He and the twins are all from the Coral Sea, but the northern part where the waters are cold enough for ice bergs.

We learn from Jade that Azul’s mother owns a restaurant, originally a small location owned and operated by her alone that has since grown into the most famous restaurant in the Coral Sea. It is assumed that Azul’s culinary skills and his talents as a manager were inherited from his mother, who is well-loved by her employees.

Translation: "The part in the opening ceremony where he is proudly saying ‘I will take the role of the bad guy!’"

When working out a divorce settlement Azul’s mother met his future stepfather, an attorney, who would go on to teach Azul about contracts and the law. Despite a lack of blood-relation, Azul has inherited his stepfather's shrewdness. Azul has said outright that he respects his stepfather, a kind man who is very dedicated to both his work and to Azul’s mother. Azul says he is proud of his entire family, which is full of kind, clever and witty people.

Azul is an only child, but his extended family are all mages of various talents, and his grandmother is said to be one of the greatest mages in the world while also being so benevolent and kind that she is always helping her neighbors with their problems.

Azul was bullied cruelly as a child for being an octopus (which is rare even among mermaids), and teased for being “slow” and “boring”. He threw himself into his studies in elementary school to escape it.

In Book 4 we learn that although Azul, Floyd and Jade had been in the same class their whole lives until enrolling in Night Raven College, Floyd does not have many childhood memories of what Azul was like, as he was so quiet and kept so much to himself. Upon entering middle school the three formed a trio with Azul playing the piano, Floyd on the drums and Jade on the bass.

It was around this time that Azul gradually began to look beyond his books for opportunities to practice his magic, while still keeping diligently to his studies. This resulted in several incidents　such as a student suddenly becoming physically fit but losing their voice, and another student suddenly having beautiful hair but losing one of their tail fins.

Azul is wary of apparent gestures of goodwill and unconditional kindness from others, believing that “all contracts come with a price”, and he strongly dislikes the idea of ever being indebted to someone.

His unique magic, “It’s a Deal” (in Japanese: The Golden Contract), enables him to take the talents of others for himself. Two of his talents as seen in the main story of the game—his singing voice and ability to talk to animals—were both obtained through this magic.

It is discovered in Book 3 that his powers are actually too strong for him to control: his unique magic allows him to absorb power from others indiscriminately, which Leona says is designated as a forbidden class of magic.

Azul does not need his contracts to enable his unique magic: he needs them to limit it. Without the self-enforced rules of his contracts, Azul’s magic would be impossible to reign in and result in constant over-blotting.

Azul is very calculating, logical and defensive. He will ask for payment for absolutely anything he does, including help with test preparations (a popular service among NRC students).

Azul is always on alert for information—particularly on the weaknesses of those around him—for use in contract negotiations. While his business may appear corrupt from the outside, Azul has an extremely high success rate in fulfilling his customers’ requests, resulting in constant demand for his services.

Azul is very smooth-spoken and polite when he speaks, but his formal form of speech wavers and can disappear entirely when he is taken by surprise. While appearing outwardly calm and collected, Azul is in fact very passionate and emotional.

We learn that Azul was overweight as a child (“he looked like a good meal" according to Floyd, and "twice as wide as the other mermaid children—at least” according to Ruggie, who saw a photo), which may be why Azul is always counting calories. He has expressed displeasure in the lack of calorie labels on food in the school cafeteria.

Azul is actually something of a gourmet who can identify the ingredients of food products (like juice) merely by tasting them, making it curious that his favorite food is Japanese-style fried chicken (kara-age).

Azul does not like crowds, saying that he feels most at ease in dark, small spaces, which is why he is often seen with his hood up when he wears his ceremonial robes.

Rook refers to Azul as both “Roi de Fort” and “Roi de l’Effort” on ENG-server. I asked a French speaker who assured me that “Roi de Fort” is incorrect grammar (it would be “Roi du fort”). Putting overwhelming amounts of effort into everything he does being one of Azul’s main character traits, I would assume that “de Fort” was a continuity error and “de l’effort” is the correct translation. (The original katakana of ロア・ディ・フォート would be “Roi d’effort, which is also grammatically incorrect ww)

While flying is his worst subject, Azul claims he does not dislike it. He is decidedly not athletic, but still performs light muscle training exercises daily despite how he does not like to sweat.

It seems that Azul is larger than both Jade and Floyd in their mermaid forms and actually quite strong in his original form of an octopus (Floyd says that octopi are "pure muscle" and he doesn't believe that all of that disappeared just because Azul drank a potion to turn himself human).

The extent of his abilities in his human form is unknown, but according to Floyd, “He’s slow on land and in water, and he’s got lousy athletic reflexes, but that doesn’t mean he’s weak. Octopi are all muscle. Seems to me like that wouldn’t disappear just because he took a potion to turn himself human.”

Azul enjoys collecting coins, which seems to be a hobby he has had for a long time. He first became interested after coming across a rare coin near a shipwreck and learning how much he could sell it for.

He now has a collection of about 200 coins, and his favorites are framed and on display in his room.

Azul has multiple hobbies and serves on multiple school committees, as he believes that there is no better way to find new avenues that may lead to new business ventures than to experience things directly.

Azul and Idia are the only two members of the main cast in the Board Games club. Idia prefers games that involve an element of luck, while Azul prefers games that require strategy, and he first joined after Ortho introduced him to a board game that mimicked business strategies.

Azul’s labwear goggles have the same prescription as his glasses, but he does not wear either in his mermaid form. He says that he began wearing them at the school both for vision-correction purposes and for the look, as he read that—according to on-land culture—glasses make one appear intellectual.

The mole near Azul’s mouth is on the opposite side of his face to that of Ursula, the villain upon which he is based.

Azul gets along well with Ruggie, who shares his appreciation of money, of the effort needed to get it, and of not being in debt. In Book 2 he provides Ruggie with a magic-amplifying potion for the Spell Drive tournament, despite he himself being on the event committee. Azul also seems close with the twins, who invade his room at midnight on his birthday with cake and congratulations.

We learn from Leona that “transfiguration potions are forbidden” at Night Raven College, but it would seem that merpeople chosen by the mirror receive special allowances to grant them a human form in which they can comfortably attend their classes.

We learn from Floyd that living on land is a dream for many merpeople, but it is rare for anyone to follow through. They attend “land boot camps”, a month-long course where they are taught the basics of on-land living such as information about land-food, what fire is, the importance of wearing clothes, how to breathe and how to walk.

Floyd explains that the school was founded by a mermaid princess who married an on-land price and wanted to help keep other merpeople from suffering the same culture shock that she did.

Much like Disney’s The Little Mermaid, in Book 3 the MC, Grim and Jack have three days to fulfill a contract that they arrange with Azul, and Azul even provides them with a magic potion that allows them to breathe underwater in order to do so (a gift that mirrors that of Ursula’s gift of legs to Ariel).

Also in line with the movie, Jade and Floyd interfere. It is revealed that Azul’s end-game from the beginning was to transform Ramshackle Dorm into a new branch of Mostro Lounge to accommodate the growing business.

After a certain incident in Book 4, Azul refers to the player and Grim as “slightly dirty rags” (小汚い雑巾). On the same day that the chapter containing the line was released, the phrase was trending on Twitter, and then became the tag used for various Azul-related fan content.

This phrase was translated as “dusty cloths” on ENG-server while the original “dirty rags” line has been attributed—twice—to Floyd, despite how Floyd has never once said it in any of his original dialogue. (a small point, but JPN-server really did lose its mind at that part in Book 4, so it sticks out to me ww Copy-paste it into Google if you want to be buried in Azul fan-art)

Her guilty plea Thursday culminates a three-year journey in which she pursued baseless and often outlandish theories in the weeks before a mob of Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol. Along the way, Powell was part of several key events in the state and federal indictments against Trump for his conduct in the 2020 election and now becomes a potential witness against him. [...] [...] in a Fox Business interview that November [2021], Powell declared: “I’m going to release the Kraken.” Her comment quickly became notorious and her reference to the mythical sea monster only heightened the fantastical nature of the effort. Trump’s campaign legal team distanced itself from her after an outlandish news conference days later. She took the stage after an appearance from Trump’s attorney Rudy Giuliani as dark streaks of what appeared to be hair dye streamed down his face. She launched into a theory about election software having been created in Venezuela “at the direction of Hugo Chavez” — the Venezuelan president who died in 2013. Powell also claimed in a different interview that she would “blow up” Georgia” with a “biblical” election lawsuit.

Maybe the real Kraken was the plea deals we made along the way.

Levihan Week 2021

Day two: Confessions

Summary: Confessions are to be made in the right place, in the right time.

"Confessions are to be made in the right place, in the right time."

It was an advice that Erwin once gave him, during one of the rare instances when the late Commander allowed himself to shrug off his heavy duty and act like a normal human.

Back then, Levi didn't understand the meaning of his words, didn't realize how this philosophical remark could be related to his question about “that red-haired lady that visited our barracks with Dawk today”.

But time went on, and the words refused to leave Levi's mind. Watching his fellow scouts, his friends and subordinates, he couldn't help but remember Erwin's wisdom.

Confessions are to be made in the right place, in the right time

The more Levi thought about it, the more he started to believe that it was a universal truth. Blurt out the wrong thing to the wrong person or in the wrong time, and you create a misunderstanding, tension or even a conflict.

Blurt out the right thing to the right person but in the wrong time, and you can very well destroy the relationship that was so treasured.

Levi saw examples of this everywhere - drunken soldiers slurring the admission of their love to their equally drunken comrades, heavily injured soldiers whispering the words of love on the verge of death, forever breaking the heart of the subject of their affections, angry and tired soldiers screaming out those dangerous three little words in the moments of frustration and resentment.

Love made people stupid, it made people reckless. It was dangerous and unwelcome in their line of work. He couldn't allow his heart to grow attached to someone else, couldn't let his eyes wander in the search of them during battles, couldn't let someone else's voice and laugh distract him from his duties.

Levi scoffed at the soldiers who waxed poetic about love, he rolled his eyes at the displays of affection, he pitied the fools who dedicated their hearts not to the indestructible idea of humanity and its future, but to a single, mortal person.

And then, out of nowhere, in the midst of battles, losses and rare moments of peace, he himself became that very same fool. During battles, his eyes searched for the shrieking idiot, his heartbeat slowing down only after he saw them alive and well. During late evenings and sleepless nights, he sat in the stuffy, dusty laboratory, listening to unending ramblings about titans, the outside world and the hopes of bright future.

He was more focused with them by his side. He slept better when they were curled up around him. Even his food was more delicious when they shared it with him, shamelessly stealing bits of his dinner.

It wasn't love, Levi had tried to assure himself. Love was dangerous and stupid, love was making people weak. But this— this bond, this comradery, this friendship, it wasn't making him weak. It was making him stronger, it was making him fight even harder, to ensure that this hell would end with both of them still alive. This bond, it was making him feel so... happy.

Love made people do stupid things when their other half was injured or in danger. But Levi's person, they were strong. Almost as skilled as was he, and twice as smart.

On the battlefield, they were quick and graceful, invisible, they did not make him worried. Whatever danger they were facing, they always managed to defeat it.

But then, then Kenny came back into his life and then they went after him straight into that fucking cave, and Levi's heart had stopped, it almost crushed when he heard their scream and saw them fall.

And blood, there was so much blood on their shirt, in front of his eyes. And that's when Levi realized - he became attached, he fell in love.

It was the first time he remembered these words in a very long time. He thought he would never need this advice. But that night, when they returned from that cave, when Levi stayed by their side, watching them hiss and wince as doctors bandaged their injured shoulder, he almost blurted it all out. Scared out of his mind, he wanted to grab their face and scream at them how he almost lost his shit during the fight, how even the thought of losing them was making him absolutely terrified. He wanted to press their forehead against his and whisper, so quietly than only two of them would hear, how much he loved them.

But they had a battle waiting for them first thing in the morning. Both of them were exhausted, both of them had too much on their minds. It wasn't the right time and it wasn’t the right place.

So he simply gripped their healthy hand and said, "You looked like a fucking amateur back there, four-eyes. Try to focus next time, alright?"

The answering laughter was quiet, but cheerful. It mended Levi's heart.

Then there was Shiganshina, and Levi's previous fears started to look like an overreaction. He thought he was afraid before, he thought he was close to losing them before, but last time, he could at least see them twitch and groan out in pain, he was somewhat comforted by the knowledge that there were people looking over them.

But now, now, there was no one. There was an explosion, a big, thundering explosion, and after it, there was nothing, nothing at all.

And Levi— Levi couldn't go there and check if someone was still alive. He couldn't even stop and make sense of what he was feeling. Everything was moving too quickly, and he could only follow that swift flow, trying his best not to get drown in it.

And, as he continued moving, never faltering, his eyes were wet - with sweat, with blood, with tears - Levi couldn't spare a second to wipe all of it. He could only continue marching forward.

It wasn't the right place, certainly not the right time, but his desperate, relieved "Hange!" could probably count as a confession. It certainly disclosed the feelings that otherwise he would never let out.

But the current kept moving forward, and both of them were struggling to keep their head afloat. There was no time for words of love, no time for being stupid and reckless.

After the utter disaster that was Shiganshina, they returned home, and the place was right, but the time wasn't, as both of them were still dealing with the losses they've endured. Dumping even more revelations onto them seemed unwise, cruel even, so Levi stayed silent, remained at their side, loyal and faithful.

When they finally arrived at the sea, it seemed like the place was right, and the time was right. And as Hange dragged him from one end of the beach to the other, shoving seashell after seashell into his face, Levi even prepared a romantic, touching speech, the kind of soft confession that his love deserved. Something along the lines, "you're more precious than the sea in front of me".

But that peaceful day was over before he could master the courage to let the truth out in the open.

And after that, after that, the time and the place were never quite right. He could not confess in the midst of thousands official meetings, strategy planning and war councils. He couldn't confess when they had to meet with the Marley volunteers, he couldn't confess when they went to explore Marley itself.

He couldn't confess before they went to retrieve Eren's stupid ass. Although, he wanted to, desperately so. But when he grabbed their shoulder before they boarded the airship, he could only tell them, "Don't die. I'd hate to be in charge of this circus."

He didn't know if his true meaning was clear enough, if his voice was tight enough to translate his curt words into their intended point.

Don't leave me alone. I don't know if I can do this without you.

It only went downhill from that. He had no time to speak with them after they came home, he had no time before he went to the forest with Zeke, the place and the time just weren't right.

When Zeke had escaped, when the explosion had almost killed him, Levi thought that he had lost his chance. He had hesitated for too long, and the moment was lost forever. But the explosion didn't kill him, Hange saved him.

And this time, the place was right, it was perfect, a quiet, dark forest where nothing and no one could get to them.

Maybe, the two of us just should live here together. Right, Levi?

He wanted to say yes, wanted to scream "let's leave this fucking hell behind and grow old together". He wanted bury his face in their neck and whisper "I love you, more than anything".

But he didn't.

The place was right, but the time wasn't.

The place, the time, they were never right.

After they got out of the forest, things were spending up and up, leaving Levi behind and unable to catch up. He was always at the back, watching but not doing anything, too weak to even talk. And they were at the front, leading everyone towards their noble goal.

As he watched them move forward, leaving him to fight the Yeagerists, discussing plans with their allies, as he watched them slip through his fingers like a morning fog, those words were at the tip of his tongue, ready to spill out.

But Hange never stopped, they had no time to hear him out.

And then, Hange finally stopped. Then they decided to become the one that was going to be left behind. And in the process, they left behind Levi.

He thought about it so much, for so long, he was carrying these feelings for almost a decade. But he never figured out just what words to use to explain the matters of his heart.

Confessions are to be made in the right place, in the right time

He was so focused on these words that he forgot about the most important thing. Confession had to be done right as well. But he had no time to ponder and search his mind for the fitting words. He had no time, Hange had no time, and in that last moment, when his heart was breaking and his mind kept chanting "please, don't leave me, not you, please, not you", the only thing he could get out was, "Dedicate your heart."

The confession was clumsy, too roundabout, but his feelings probably were clear enough. He hoped so, at least.

Before they went, before they left him alone, Levi wanted them to know, wanted them to remember just how loved they were.

As he sat in that plane, his mind going crazy with grief, he remembered the words spoken to him in the middle of the night, by a man who refused to feel the pain of loss, who shut himself away from affection and love.

Perhaps, Erwin was wrong in that regard, Levi realized. Perhaps, there was no such thing as right place and right time. There could only be right person.

And Levi had just lost his.
