(Twinkling Watermelon ep 13)
YICHAN STRUGGLING TO SEND CHEONGHA A FAX?? FALLING TO THE FLOOR IN FRUSTRATION WITH ALL HIS CRUMPLED UP PAPERS? THE FIGHT, THE WATCHING, THE SKETCHBOOK CONFESSION, THE SONG ALL FOR HER 🤧🤧🤧 AND HE FELL FOR HER BEFORE SEKYUNG EVEN CHOSE EUNGYEOL AH I'M SO EMO 😭😭😭😭😭
the absolute cutest part for me was in the original past, Yichan chased after Sekyung, got rejected, lost his hearing, and THEN dated Cheongah. i was really worried about the butterfly affect (or, in Eungyeol and Eunyoo's case, the bull in a china shop affect) making it so if those things didn't happen, he wouldn't have ended up with Cheongah, but here he goes still choosing her 🥺 here he goes punching abelists for her 🥺 here he goes learning sign language and teaching his friends to greet her 🥺🥺🥺 here is Yichan, who fell in love with Cheongah dispite them being in "diffrent worlds", and immediately showed her off. AND THEY DID ALL OF IT basically by themselves 😭💔💔
+ 5 bonus points for Eunyoo getting happy when Eungyeol told her he started liking "Sekyung" after she came back from the US, so he truly only fell for Eunyoo and not her mom

Me and my totally reasonable worries: if I someday marry a Korean and we have children, I’ll have to give them names that make sense in both Korean and Spanish so that our extended family on both sides can pronounce their names, which greatly narrows down the amount of possible names and definitely disqualifies some of my favorites (including anything that includes the “Eun” syllable)

I see a lot of people complaining about Choi Se-Kyung being dumb because nothing she's doing is changing her mom's past and thus, her existing in the future.
For me, I think we need to remember: we are talking about an 18 years old that was about to unalive herself. It didn't matter if she was in the present or the past, her mind was set. The only reason she changed her mind is because Ha Eun-Gyeol made a comment about her mom never coming back. And so this kid decided to go with the flow at first, then thought "I can change things!" without really thinking about how her mom's life is not changing. Maybe she's hoping that one of the two "pretendant" will go to the US and woo her mother? I don't think she's really thought further than "if my mom's first love loved her back, I wouldn't exist, and I need to make this happen."
She is most likely depressed, on top of suffering from anxiety. Her goal is still to stop existing. She's not thinking anything through, she's just hanging on, until she decides she's done.

Da Eul reading her manager for filth. Won stopping by to reward her for her hard work and emphasizing the six siblings bond. Sang Sik mocking said manager while he's leaving ('do yOu kNOw aNYonE?'). God you did this for me

EPISODE 8 IS ENTIRELY TOO CUTE 😭😭😭
if i had a son who loves his parents the way Ha Eungyeol loves his, nothing in the world would be able to dim my spirits 😖 watching him look after Yichan this whole time was adoreable, but there's something SO touching about the way he takes care of Chungah.
when he cried for her, my heart felt like it was getting crushed. imagine meeting your mom as a teenager, helpless in such a shitty situation? how could they not even let her speak sign language? he's already physically protected her from her "mom", fought bodyguards for her, become her sign language tutor, and become her friend. even way before he ever met Chungah's 18 year old self, he's been trying to keep Yichan away from his teenage crush until he can meet Chungah, so she will be his first love. he's been protecting her feelings this entire time 🥺
and the ROMANCE 🤧 Yichan is slowly going to Chungah, who is already so far gone she's drawing his name inside a heart in the fog on her bedroom window, and Eungyeol and Sekyung-idal slowly going to each other 🥺🥺 Eungyeul's confession at the end that was partly because of his feelings for Sekyung-idal, and partly because of his determination to pair Yichan with Chungah 😖 these guys deserve everything good in life

Viva La Vida
Twinkling watermelon has ended and now I don't know what to watch. My Mondays and Tuesdays aren't going to twinkle anymore now :(.
My thoughts on the ending : Keeping all the criticism about the ending aside, I think this was the best possible ending for everyone. Ha Eun Gyeol's family isn't struggling anymore as Ha Yi Chan and Yoon Cheong Ah are both successful, happy and charming as ever. Most importantly they are still in contact with their bandmates (their friends learned sign language for them and that's the cutest thing ever :( ). Ha Eun Gyeol doesn't feel 'burdened' anymore and can finally do what he always loved. On Eun Yu isn't suffering anymore either as she changed her mother's future which ended up changing her present as well. And Ha Eun Gyeol and On Eun Yu ENDED UP TOGETHERRR!!!

Omg do you know what I just realized
Everyone at school knew that Eun Yoo and Eun Gyeol were dating… which means that Se Kyeong’s boyfriend probably found out too

DRAMA REVIEW | King The Land (2023)
Tumblr media
King the Land follows the traditional troupe of classic contemporary romances involving a Chaebol and Candy leads but this drama gives it a new life and breath to the story by making the characters (all of them) well rounded, with background stories, and agency.
Won is a great leading man. At first he comes across like any other chaebol character but quickly you realize he's nothing like it. He's confident, not cocky, has good manners and treats everything fair and square. Those who cross him had it coming tbh and even then he doesn't resent them for what they did. He simply puts them in their place.
Sarang comes from a working class family, and her parents passed away, but she never feels inferior to anyone and treats people with sincerity. She's also an independent, fun and lovely young woman who likes to go dancing with her friends, date and hanging out with her grandma. Sarang it's not, under any circumstances, the typical Candy heroine shouldering a hard, pitiful life. Sarang's life is full of color, warmth and joy.
Pyung Hwa, Da-eul, Ro-woon and Sang-sik complete the found family group of friends and they are equally enjoyable to watch. They all have strong, nuance personalities and have to deal with their own issues. They are not just background decoration for the leads to rely on when something happens.
The story is solid, angst free and really fun to watch. It's nothing new but, at the same time, the characters make it feel fresh. I particularly enjoyed the soundtrack, which I found to be perfectly placed at all the right moments. The cinematography it's also good, editing and directing wise there's no complains.
Overall, I recommend this drama to fans of rom-coms looking for a quality watch!
